  3. A “Major” New WoW Classic Project Is In The Works, And Fans Are Hoping For One Thing In Particular A “Major” New WoW Classic Project Is In The Works, And Fans Are Hoping For One Thing In Particular Work has begun on a new “major” World of Warcraft Classic project, according to Blizzard. As a result, development on Season of Discovery looks to be coming to a close. In a forum post, WoW Classic producer Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield explained what’s next for the WoW Classic team and dove into its philosophy behind the more experimental Season of Discovery servers that launched in 2023, and what comes next. “Season of Discovery was a success beyond our wildest imagination in 2023,” Greenfield said. “We learned so much, we grew as a team both literally and figuratively, and we’ve been invigorated for the future like never before. That future for Season of Discovery is somewhat bittersweet, as we’ve made the decision to slow down on Season of Discovery and begin work on our next major project in the original WoW design space.” He said Blizzard has “big plans and big ambitions” for its next WoW Classic project, plans that will require Blizzard to take the time to “get in the proverbial kitchen and cook,” he said. Blizzard will use that time to further shape and iterate on ideas from Season of Discovery into “something truly exciting.” What that next major project will be is still unclear, but many WoW Classic fans are assuming (and hoping) it’s what the community, and even Blizzard itself, has for years referred to as Classic+. It’s an idea that calls for essentially a new version of WoW Classic with new content like class changes, raids, and zones. Rather than progress to a new expansion and landmass as was the case originally, Classic+ would remain in the core regions of Azeroth and explore locations that never made it into the original version of WoW, like Mount Hyjal and others. In theory, it’s something that would be similar to Season of Discovery, but less radical in some of its class changes and intended to continue as an ongoing game rather than a seasonal server meant to run its course. Greenfield said the original plan for Season of Discovery, which added new abilities and content to the over 20-year-old original version of WoW, was for it to end with the release of the game’s retooled Naxxramas raid and the introduction of a new dungeon, the Karazhan Crypts, in January 2025. Instead, the team decided to realize one more unfulfilled dream, releasing an entirely new raid several months later, the Scarlet Enclave. It’s that new raid where Blizzard is now offering a free level 85 character boost to use in the upcoming Mists of Pandaria Classic for players who defeat its first boss. Greenfield said the character boost serves as a “capstone” for Season of Discovery and a way for players to jump straight into a new version of Classic now that Season of Discovery development is winding down. While development is slowing for Season of Discovery, Greenfield said it has no plans to shut down servers, and that they will remain online for many months if not years to come. “When we think of the impact that Season of Discovery will ultimately have on World of Warcraft, we think about how it helped prove something that a lot of us already knew: there is an enormous appetite for new experiences set against the backdrop of original World of Warcraft,” Greenfield said. 5. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Review (PC) Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Review (PC) The newest entry in the Capcom Fighting Collection series has been released, and this time with an SNK twist. Capcom Fighting Collection 2, while similar to its predecessors, does a good job of standing out. But is it for good reason? As always, we’ll show you what the game does well, what it doesn’t do so well, and ultimately answer the age-old question: is this game worth the purchase? The Good The gameplay is solid. The controls feel smooth, there’s little to no input lag, and overall, the controls remain faithful to the original releases. Nothing groundbreaking, but good enough to let players experience these classics similar to how they were originally intended. As with the other games in this series, having these old games finally be available on modern hardware is amazing. Having these games not only playable on modern consoles, but preserved for the foreseeable future is great. It helps keep the communities for these games alive and lets a whole new generation of players experience the game for the first time. I love all the added features this game has to offer. Like the other Fighting Collection games, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has a bunch of extras also included in the package. Each game in the collection has an Arcade Mode, Versus Mode, and a Training Mode. On top of that, you can also play the Japanese or English version of each game. Besides that, there’s a whole gallery full of artwork from each game that the player can check out. The best added feature is, of course, the online play. Having the ability to play these vintage fighting games with other people online is awesome. Furthermore, as I mentioned previously, it helps keep the communities for these games alive. The online is made better by the inclusion of rollback netcode. This makes playing online extremely smooth with little to no lag. It’s great to have it right out of the box, and it makes playing online a much more pleasant experience. This game’s biggest advantage over the other games in the Fighting Collection series is its selection of games. While the original Capcom Fighting Collection had a pretty good selection of games, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection had a lackluster lineup. Capcom Fighting Collection 2, on the other hand, has a nice variety in its lineup with a solid mix of 2D and 3D fighting games, each greatly differing in gameplay. I think the lineup alone helps this game stand out from the other collections and makes it a deserving entry in the Fighting Collection series. The Bad I want to preface this section by saying that there really isn’t much wrong with this collection overall. For the most part, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is solid. There are a few gripes I have with the game, however, both of which are shared with the rest of the games in the series. Once again, the online could be better. There are only a few specific games that have a player base, meaning your options for what games you can play online are limited. Finding a match for games like Capcom vs. SNK 2 was a breeze, while trying to find a match for games like Power Stone 2 was impossible. This fact pretty much negates the added online for most games in the collection, which is really a shame. This difficulty in finding a match online can be traced back to my main complaint with this game: its lack of crossplay. This severely hinders matchmaking, especially in tandem with the already limited player base for most of the games in the collection. In this day and age, crossplay is a no-brainer for any major game with online functionality, and it sucks to see so many games not include it. I hope that Capcom will add crossplay to the entire Fighting Collection series one day, but for now, it is sorely lacking without it. Final Thoughts All in all, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a solid collection with a nice assortment of classic fighting games. Despite some of the flaws with its online, there are still plenty of reasons to love this game. The numerous extras, added online play with rollback netcode, and the overall style of the collection, combined with the obvious benefit of having these games preserved, make this quite a great collection. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re interested in any of these games and want to give them a try, this game is worth picking up. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is available now on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. 6. DJT, GameStop, & more race to buy bitcoin DJT, GameStop, & more race to buy bitcoin 00:00 Speaker A Bitcoin pulling back after touching fresh all-time highs last week, the cryptocurrency trading just above 107,000 right now. This is top government officials and crypto heavyweights attend the 2025 Bitcoin conference in Las Vegas. Joining me now, on the ground, we’ve got Chris Klein, Bitcoin IRA co-founder and COO. Chris, good to have you here with us. Just want to start with some of the key takeaways from the energy on the ground there. 00:29 Chris Kline Absolutely. Well, as you can see behind me, this is the line forming for uh Vice President JD Vance will be taking the stage here in about 15, 20 minutes. It actually goes downstairs, wraps around the expo and almost to the casino floor. So, lots of energy and enthusiasm. Interestingly enough, I’m seeing a lot more sport coats this year. That’s why I put one on today, which I think is indicative of the big banks retail or the institutional players that are really starting to show up big here in the crypto space. 00:57 Speaker A All right, more sport coats, fewer hoodies, it sounds like. Okay, so that is the at least attire vibe that we’ve seen a massive shift in here. As as you know that more companies are moving to hold Bitcoin on their balance sheet too. We we know that there are recent announcements that are probably knocking around and being talked about there on the ground as well. Trump media raising $2.5 billion by Bitcoin, GameStop announcing their first Bitcoin purchase. How how should retail investors think about these names and how is it being discussed there? 01:30 Chris Kline Yeah, it seems to be this race to reserve is still carrying forward. Uh the announcements out of DJT and GameStop this morning, uh clearly indicate that we’re at a space where people are racing to put this on the balance sheet. And it’s not just a Bitcoin play. Uh you see groups uh Ethereum and Solana starting to capture the attention. Uh this is a conversation, not just a theory, that’s happening in boardrooms across America. Uh Michael Sailor’s strategy is really proven this to be a solid practice. Uh and it should be very interesting to see where we’ll be towards the end of this year when we start getting earnings reports from this. 02:04 Speaker A You know, one of our news heads here was talking earlier within within the newsroom just about this premium that typically gets annexed to some of the companies when they add Bitcoin to their balance sheet. Why why do you think that is? 02:24 Chris Kline Oh, I think it’s I mean, any business that’s in the Bitcoin space is also getting premiums right now. I just had the pleasure of having dinner and drinks with the president, CEO of eToro here in the United States. So, in general, with the hype and the expected price movements ahead, as we were talking about when I saw you last month, my target’s 180,000 for this year. Uh that’s a huge growth in the balance sheet for these groups, and I think it’s getting priced into their models. 03:01 Speaker A You know, as we’re continuing to see visuals of the line forming behind you, and that is for Vice President JD Vance, as we think about the number of different profiles that have tried to either annex themselves to the crypto growth that we’ve seen, or be the face of crypto. There’s none more so that’s trying to do that than the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and President Donald Trump. Is that net good or bad from what you’re hearing talked about at the conference, especially knowing that there are past profiles that have had tragic falls uh over the course of their own professionalism and lack thereof, I should say, within the crypto space? 03:56 Chris Kline Yeah, absolutely. You know, I was in Nashville last year. This is my fourth conference. And I think a lot of the buzz around, because Donald Trump actually joined us as a candidate then, uh it was a lot more, even the audience, you felt there was a segment that was uh folks that were there for Trump and then folks that were there for Bitcoin. This year, with JD Vance joining us, and this administration overall is showing, at least indications that they’re going to be more pro-crypto and friendly to us as we move forward, which is in stark contrast to what we saw four years ago in the last administration. But hope isn’t a strategy. Uh most folks that are looking at Bitcoin are are in 20, 30, sometimes 40-year cycles that they they’re just holding and hodling and waiting until that moment in time where maybe we’ll reach a million dollar Bitcoin or a $10 million Bitcoin. Uh and so we’re going to have a lot of administrations between then and now. Uh and so it’s hope is not a strategy. Building out and doing things like retirement planning with crypto are great tools to use to your advantage. But yes, it’s it’s going to be interesting to see how it all hashes out across the next few months. 05:06 Speaker A And so what is the best way for someone who is just trying to figure out what their exposure to cryptocurrency and to Bitcoin should be, if they’re early innings in building out that portion of their portfolio and trying to figure out should I buy uh shares of a company that’s publicly traded that holds Bitcoin on the balance sheet versus buying an ETF versus buying the cryptocurrency directly? 05:35 Chris Kline Well, you know, that’s great, a great question because we’re seeing all three of those channels uh live here today at the conference. You’ve got uh sponsorships from some of the ETFs that are out there. Obviously, buying shares of a company that’s also holding Bitcoin on the balance sheet. Those are great uh tools for you to get some access into it. But, you know, the pure and most um, I guess direct way is to get your hands on Bitcoin itself, the real thing, uh buying it directly through an exchange like Coinbase, or using it in your retirement savings plans with groups like us. All tools are great because they give you exposure to Bitcoin, but in different ways. Uh and let’s not forget, alt season’s around the corner. Bitcoin will have its runs, and alts will have their day in the sun uh here soon as well. 06:18 Speaker A Chris, great to see you. Enjoy the conference out there. Look forward to seeing some of your updates online. 06:25 Chris Kline Absolutely. Thanks so much for having me today. 7. Amy Hennig’s Exit From ‘Uncharted 4’ Erased Its Best Part That Neil Druckmann Won’t Agree With Amy Hennig’s Exit From ‘Uncharted 4’ Erased Its Best Part That Neil Druckmann Won’t Agree With The most controversial departure in gaming history happened behind closed doors at Naughty Dog. Amy Hennig, the creative mastermind behind Nathan Drake’s adventures and the mother of the Uncharted series as we know it, left the studio in 2014 under circumstances that remain murky to this day (thanks, NDAs). What followed was a complete overhaul of Uncharted 4. Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley took the reins, scrapped months of work, and fundamentally changed what the series represented. The result? A game that prioritized emotional depth over the spectacular set pieces that made the series legendary. Whether that was an improvement depends entirely on what you valued about treasure hunting with everyone’s favorite wisecracking adventurer. When spectacle became secondary to feelings Amy Hennig‘s Uncharted games were playable action movies. Remember the cargo plane sequence from Uncharted 3? Drake literally falls out of a crashing aircraft, climbs back inside, and fights his way through collapsing metal while thousands of feet in the air. That’s peak Uncharted madness—the kind of absurd heroics that made players grin like idiots while their brains screamed “that’s impossible!” Uncharted 4 had very few moments like that. The most spectacular sequence involves a clock tower collapse that feels restrained compared to the series’ previous bombast. This wasn’t accidental—it was philosophical. Gone were the mutant descendants from Drake’s Fortune and the fire djinn from Drake’s Deception. What remained was mature, thoughtful, and for many, “OG” fans, significantly less fun. The final game featured dramatically fewer large-scale set pieces compared to its predecessors. Uncharted 2 alone, for one, delivered the collapsing building escape, the helicopter chase through Kathmandu, and that train sequence that redefined action gaming. Uncharted 4 offered Madagascar car chases and emotional conversations about… retirement plans. This reduction wasn’t due to technical limitations—the PlayStation 4 could handle spectacle just fine. It was a deliberate creative choice that fundamentally altered the franchise’s identity in favor of character introspection over death-defying stunts. The Last of Us philosophy invades treasure hunting Midlife crisis mode. | Image Credit: Naughty Dog The influence of The Last of Us on Uncharted 4 is undeniable and frankly problematic. Druckmann and Straley brought their post-apocalyptic sensibilities to a franchise built on adventure and wonder, creating a tonal clash that never quite resolves. The result? Two different games are fighting for control. Uncharted 4 spends its opening hour on domestic tension between Nathan and Elena, complete with awkward silences and meaningful glances. It’s well-written relationship drama, sure, but it’s not why people fell in love with the series. Players wanted globe-trotting adventures filled with ancient mysteries and impossible escapes, not marriage counseling sessions with occasional gunfights. The stealth mechanics borrowed directly from The Last of Us feel particularly out of place. Nathan Drake hiding in tall grass contradicts everything established about his character. He’s supposed to be the guy who runs headfirst into danger while cracking jokes, not the guy who carefully marks enemies and plans silent takedowns. Combat encounters were reduced significantly compared to previous entries, with larger environments encouraging exploration over the linear, more claustrophobic firefights that made the series famous. This design philosophy prioritized narrative pacing over relentless action. Where Hennig created escapist fantasy filled with impossible scenarios, Druckmann delivered grounded reality focused on emotional growth. Both approaches have merit, but only one feels authentically Uncharted. What’s your take on the direction change? Did Uncharted 4 benefit from the creative shake-up, or did something essential get lost in translation? Share your thoughts below. 8. Nvidia (NVDA) earnings report Q1 2026 Nvidia (NVDA) earnings report Q1 2026 Jensen Huang, co-founder and CEO of Nvidia Corp., speaks during a news conference in Taipei on May 21, 2025. I-hwa Cheng | Afp | Getty Images Nvidia reports fiscal first-quarter earnings on Wednesday after the bell. Here’s what Wall Street is expecting, per LSEG: Earnings per share: 93 cents, adjustedRevenue: $43.31 billion Wall Street is expecting the AI chip giant to guide for 99 cents in adjusted earnings per share on $45.9 billion of sales in the July quarter. Nvidia continues to see massive growth from its sales of graphics processors, with demand for the company’s AI chips showing no signs of cooling. But there’s one big question on many investors’ minds during this earnings call: China. On April 9, the Trump administration sent Nvidia a letter that said it would require an export license for the company’s H20 chip, a version of its Hopper AI chips specially designed for the ******** market to comply with previous U.S. restrictions. Nvidia said it would take a $5.5 billion writedown on inventory. Nvidia analysts will be closely looking to see what impact the restrictions have on the company’s revenue. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also took to the road in recent weeks to sell the company’s AI infrastructure to foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia. He’ll likely want to address the topic on Wednesday, too, and give some insight into how the company sees the current export control regime. Aside from Nvidia’s geopolitical issues, the big story will be if Blackwell, the company’s current generation of AI GPUs, has enough supply and continues to see endless demand. But ultimately, what investors will want to see is the company confidently saying that demand for its Blackwell products — like the GB200 racks that are currently shipping — remains strong. “The key here is the optimism around GB200 improving, and strong demand, and if the company can make the case for that, the stock should react well, in our view even if numbers don’t change much,” wrote Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore in a note on Tuesday. Wall Street is expecting 66% growth in the April quarter. But that’s still a sharp deceleration from a year ago, when the company’s revenue more than tripled. Powering Nvidia’s massive growth is sales to a handful of giant cloud providers, often called hyperscalers. These cloud companies are buying as many of Nvidia’s Blackwell chips as they can to power and install into data centers. Earlier this month, hyperscalers such as Microsoft and Meta said they planned to continue aggressively spending on AI. 10. How a Fromsoft Combat Designer’s Decade-Long Dream Became Elden Ring Nightreign How a Fromsoft Combat Designer’s Decade-Long Dream Became Elden Ring Nightreign When Elden Ring: Nightreign launches on May 30, 2025, it won’t just be the first time FromSoftware has focused on the co-op side of a game. This is because the idea of this game was first cooked up over a decade ago. Junya Ishizaki, a combat and level designer at FromSoftware, first had ideas for Nightreign while working on Dark Souls 3. But you know why the game has finally been made? It’s actually because of Elden Ring‘s success. Ishizaki recently explained that the Game of the Year-winning open-world game was what provided the impetus for the development of Nightreign. And now, the roguelike co-op game is set to become one of FromSoft’s most ambitious titles. Elden Ring Nightreign was a long time coming from FromSoft Junya Ishizaki first joined FromSoftware as a combat and level designer during the original Dark Souls era. But it was around the time of Dark Souls 3’s development that he started getting ideas for a different kind of game. For context, the development of Dark Souls 3 began in 2013, and the game was released globally in April 2016. I had this very vague image from this kind of game I wanted to make while in the company, and I think maybe even around the time of Dark Souls 3 development, I had these very fragmented ideas and concepts going. In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Ishizaki described it as a “very vague image” back then, more of a collection of thoughts and themes than a concrete plan. The reason why it’s finally come to fruition is due to the success and scale of Elden Ring. The variety of builds, enemies, and weapons in the open-world hit gave him the push that he needed. Despite being his first directorial role, Ishizaki’s work on Nightreign has earned him praise within FromSoftware. Studio president Hidetaka Miyazaki encouraged Ishizaki to lead the project, recognizing the strength of his concept and long-standing design sensibilities. Ishizaki initially had no intention of directing, but now, he says he would “absolutely” consider doing more. It wasn’t until Elden Ring was in full production that these ideas cemented and things started to take shape in my mind… seeing the scope of the world of Elden Ring, the enemy variety, the weapon variety, the build variety of the players… this felt like a really good place to expand on and to develop these ideas. So that is where the first ideas for Elden Ring Nightreign took form. But unlike Elden Ring, Nightreign is a tightly focused, roguelike-style co-op RPG. It centers on expeditions into the mysterious region of Limveld, where players control one of eight Nightfarers (classes). It may look like its predecessor, but it’s anything but. It looks and feels like a lot of different FromSoft titles It was heavily inspired by other games from the studio. | Image Credit: FromSoft The fact that Nightreign is mainly a multiplayer game is a big deal for the studio. While FromSoft has experimented with co-op and PvP elements in the past, we’ve never seen the studio invest this heavily into it as the main priority. Ishizaki himself has been a long-time fan of multiplayer design, and he says that he wants Nightreign to feel both familiar and daring. While Nightreign borrows extensively from the Elden Ring world, its DNA also runs deep with Dark Souls influence. According to Ishizaki, the game reuses enemies, costumes, and class archetypes from the earlier Souls games. This is why we’re seeing the game be released this early after the studio’s recent projects. It’s a neat idea because not only does it let other directors within FromSoft flex their creativity, but it’s also less work for the developers because of said existing data. 11. Strange Planet Confirmed in Binary Star System Nu Octantis Strange Planet Confirmed in Binary Star System Nu Octantis A binary star system is a pair of stars gravitationally bound and orbiting a common centre of mass. In 2004, David Ramm at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand spotted a mysterious repeating signal while observing the motion of a pair of stars in a system called Nu Octantis. The signal hinted that a massive planet, twice Jupiter’s size, might exist in that system. In a new study, a small group of astronomers used improved measuring devices to confirm the planet’s existence and explain how the system can remain stable. Retrograde motion of the planet According to the study, new data from the HARPS spectrograph at the European Southern Observatory, the main star in the system is a sub-giant. The smaller star, a white dwarf, and the planet both orbit the larger star. But, oddly enough, they go around the star in opposite directions. These reversed trajectories reduce the risk of gravitational disruption and make the system stable. The planet’s signal has remained consistent for more than 20 years, which strongly suggests it is not caused by stellar activity. According to Man Hoi Lee, co-author of the study, researchers are pretty sure about the planet’s existence. This highlights how long-term stability in the data supports the existence of this strange planet with a tight but stable path through the binary system. Origin of the planet There are two possibilities: the planet either used to orbit both stars at once but then radically shifted trajectory when one of the two stars became a white dwarf, or it was formed from the mass that the star ejected as it transformed into a white dwarf. Future observations and a lot more mathematical modelling may be able to pinpoint which of these scenarios is more likely to have occurred, but both are rather novel. Milanovic rolls dice on club move for World Cup glory Milanovic rolls dice on club move for World Cup glory Former Western Sydney star Nicolas Milanovic is well aware a move overseas is a gamble that might not pay off. But the newly-minted Johnny Warren Medallist likes his chances. With the FIFA World Cup slated for June next year, Aberdeen-bound Milanovic has already taken steps to impress Socceroos boss Tony Popovic. The winger earned his first call-up to a national team training camp off the back of a stand-out A-League Men season that yielded 12 goals and six assists for the Wanderers. A move overseas has often stymied the rise of domestic stars and their hopes for a Socceroos spot, but Milanovic is confident he won’t be another cautionary tale. The 23-year-old believes he’s ready to test his mettle against some of Europe’s best after resisting the urge to move prematurely last year. He has also worked with Socceroos assistant coach Hayden Fox previously at Western United. “Obviously, the squad hasn’t been chosen yet … it’s just trusting yourself and backing your own ability,” Milanovic said. “I’ve done that all season and had my doubters and try to prove people wrong. “I’m now with kind of the big boys of Australia. I’m with some great players here and I want to put my best foot forward and show that I’m good enough to be here.” Fringe Socceroos defender Alessandro Circati has joined the training camp after completing his first full 90 minutes for Serie A side Parma after returning from an ACL injury. But Dundee United full-back Ryan Strain has returned to Scotland after sustaining an injury. 13. A New Vegas Plot Hole Has Created a Brutal Divide Within the Fallout Fanbase A New Vegas Plot Hole Has Created a Brutal Divide Within the Fallout Fanbase Most of the gamers would agree that Fallout: New Vegas is one of the best entries in the post-apocalyptic franchise. Even though it’s been a decade since the title’s release, the fact that gamers continue to return to it proves its enduring quality. Obsidian Entertainment’s unique RPG mechanics in the game combined the best of old-school Fallout games alongside new innovations. One of the best aspects of New Vegas is its unique plot. The game doesn’t follow the story of a Vault dweller like other titles. Gamers play as a Courier who travels through the post-apocalyptic Mojave desert in search of men who have wronged him. While it’s a beloved storyline, gamers have uncovered a new plot hole within it, sparking a massive uproar and a major divide within the Fallout community. Why didn’t the NCR use Vertibird in Fallout: New Vegas? Recently, user PurifyingElemental took to r/Fallout and asked why the New California Republic (NCR) didn’t simply fly a Vertibird over Caesar’s Legion camp and bomb it to oblivion in New Vegas. It might sound ironic, but if you think about it, it’s quite reasonable. Let’s not forget that NCR’s military has access to tons of pre-war technology, including the Vertibird. Since Caesar’s camps are located directly across the river from Hoover Dam, why not use one of the Vertibirds to eliminate the threat? Some in the community believe that this is an obvious loophole that should’ve been properly addressed. However, a few in the community have stepped in and provided the explanation for why NCR didn’t simply bomb Caesar’s camps using Vertibirds. According to them, it’s not known how many Vetibirds the NCR has under its command beyond the Bear Force One. There’s a chance that there could only be one or two operational aircraft. There’s absolutely no way NCR could afford to lose one of these in a risky assault. It’s likely that NCR didn’t want to risk losing its precious Vertibird. (Image via Obsidian Entertainment) Vertibirds aren’t simply designed for the purpose of doing bombing runs. Their main job is to provide transport and support. One might think that Caesar’s Fort may seem compact in New Vegas, but going by the lore, they’re several times the size we see. A bombing run using Vertibirds would prove to be ineffective. While the Legion is mostly known for its meelee and low-tech weapons, there are several high-ranking soldiers and veterans who could be armed with advanced weapons such as anti-material rifles, AP rounds, and even rocket launchers. These can outright delete any airborne target around the camp. Fallout New Vegas writer returns to Obsidian Entertainment The man responsible for the greatness of New Vegas is back at Obsidian Entertainment. (Image via Obsidian Entertainment) Although there might be some plot holes in New Vegas, it’s still a well-written game. Even Todd Howard and his team haven’t come close to making a game like this, which is quite a surprise, considering that New Vegas was just a spin-off. New Vegas owes its legendary status to industry veteran John Gonzalez. After finishing his work on the Fallout spin-off, he went on to work for all of its DLC packs. However, he decided to leave Obsidian Entertainment in February 2011 and joined Monolith Productions. However, after almost 14 years, Gonzalez has announced that he’s returned to Obsidian Entertainment, and now serves as the studio’s Creative Director. This revelation led many to believe that we could now see a successor for New Vegas. However, Gonzalez has confirmed that he has no plans to develop a New Vegas sequel. That’s unfortunate, but there seems to be a Fallout 3 remake in the works. At least there’s something new coming for the post-apocalyptic franchise in this decade. With that said, why do you think NCR didn’t bomb Caesar’s camps using Vertibirds in Fallout: New Vegas? Let us know in the comments below. 14. Germany charges three people with spying for Russia, potentially with intent to kill Germany charges three people with spying for Russia, potentially with intent to kill BERLIN, Germany (AP) — Three people in Germany were charged with working for one of Russia’s intelligence agencies and could have been plotting to kill a man, the ******* Federal Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday. The three men arrested in the “particularly serious case” on June 19, 2024 in Frankfurt were identified as Robert A., a Ukrainian citizen; Vardges I., an Armenian national; and Arman S., a Russian citizen. Their full names weren’t released in line with ******* privacy rules. “The spying operation presumably served to prepare further intelligence operations in Germany, possibly even leading to killing,” the ******* Federal Prosecutor’s Office said. ******* prosecutors said at the beginning of May 2024, Vardges I. received an order from a Russian intelligence agency to spy on a man living in Germany who fought in Ukraine’s armed forces after Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. To do this, Vardges I. recruited Robert A. and Arman S., who are accused of trying to lure the man to a meeting in a cafe in downtown Frankfurt with the aim of identifying him and gathering further information about him. Because the man had previously been in touch with ******* police, no meeting ever took place, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said, adding that the three men remain in custody. The charges against the men, filed May 16, are the latest in a series of cases across Europe where Ukrainians and other nationals are accused of working on behalf of Russia’s intelligence services. In May, ******* prosecutors said three Ukrainians were arrested in Germany and Switzerland on suspicion of agreeing to send parcels containing explosive or incendiary devices from Germany to Ukraine, apparently at the behest of people acting for Russia. In April 2024, two *******-Russian men were arrested in Germany on suspicion of espionage, one of them accused of agreeing to carry out attacks on potential targets including U.S. military facilities in hopes of sabotaging aid for Ukraine, prosecutors said. Western officials have accused Russia and its proxies of staging dozens of attacks ranging from arson and sabotage to cyberattacks and espionage since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. Russia has previously been accused of trying to kill people in Germany who have a connection to the war in Ukraine. In July 2024, Western officials said a plot was uncovered to kill Armin Papperger, CEO of defense company Rheinmetall which provides weapons to Ukraine. In 2019, a Russian national, Vadim Krasikov, was convicted in Germany of killing a Georgian citizen who had fought Russian troops in Chechnya. Krasikov was sentenced to life imprisonment, but was released as part of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine in 2024. At his sentencing, ******* judges said Krasikov had acted on the orders of Russian authorities, who gave him a false identity, passport and the resources to carry out the killing. The co-defendant, John Laurinaitis, also reached a confidential settlement with McMahon’s accuser, Janel Grant, according to a statement issued by their representatives on Wednesday. Laurinaitis is a former wrestler and ex-WWE executive. A filing Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Connecticut shows that lawyers for Grant and Laurinaitis agreed to dismiss her lawsuit against as it applies to him with prejudice, which means that it cannot be refiled. “John Laurinaitis has agreed to cooperate and provide evidence in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE,” the reps said in the statement obtained by NBC News. “His agreement to a confidential settlement is a pivotal next step toward holding McMahon and WWE accountable and bringing justice to Ms. Grant after years of ******* abuse and trafficking,” the reps said. “Mr. Laurinaitis looks forward to moving on with his life. We cannot provide any additional details at this time.” CNBC has requested comment from attorneys for McMahon and WWE. Grant’s settlement with Laurinaitis comes three weeks after she filed an amended civil complaint against him, McMahon, and WWE. McMahon resigned as the executive chairman of the board of TKO Group Holdings — the parent company of WWE and Ultimate Fighting Championship — in January 2024 after Grant filed her lawsuit. In January 2025, McMahon agreed to settle administrative charges filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission alleging he violated federal securities laws by failing to inform WWE’s board of directors that he had signed non-disclosure agreements with two women whom he promised to pay $10.5 million to keep quiet about his ******* conduct. McMahon agreed to pay a $400,000 civil penalty in that case, and reimburse the WWE $1.3 million after consenting to an order finding he violated a securities law. 19. The terrifying new weapon changing the war in Ukraine The terrifying new weapon changing the war in Ukraine Yogita Limaye BBC News Reporting fromRodynske, Donetsk region Watch: BBC team flees drone attack in Ukraine An acrid smell hangs over the town of Rodynske. A couple of minutes after we drive into the city we see where it’s coming from. A 250kg glide bomb has ripped through the town’s main administrative building, and taken down three residential blocks. We’re visiting a day after the bomb struck, but parts of the wreckage are still smoking. From the edges of the town we hear the sound of artillery fire, and of gunshots – Ukrainian soldiers shooting down drones. Rodynske is about 15km (9 miles) north of the embattled city of Pokrovsk. Russia has been trying to capture it from the south since the autumn of last year, but Ukrainian forces have so far managed to stop Russian soldiers from marching in. So Russia has changed tactics, moving instead to encircle the city, cutting off supply routes. In the past two weeks, as hectic diplomatic efforts to bring about a ceasefire in Ukraine have failed, Russia has intensified its push, making its most significant advances since January. We find proof of that in Rodynske. Within minutes of us arriving in town, we hear a Russian drone above us. Our team runs to the closest cover available – a tree. Getty Images Fibre optic drones are a terrifying new danger on Ukraine’s front lines We press up against it so the drone won’t see us. Then there’s the sound of a loud explosion – it’s a second drone making impact nearby. The drone above us is still hovering. For a few more minutes, we hear the terrifying whirring sound of what’s become the deadliest weapon of this war. When we can’t hear it any more we take the chance to run to hard cover in an abandoned building 100ft away. From the shelter, we hear the drone again. It’s possible it returned after seeing our movement. That Rodynske is being swarmed by Russian drones is evidence that the attacks are coming from positions much closer than known Russian positions to the south of Pokrovsk. They were most likely coming from newly captured territory on a key road running from the east of Pokrovsk to Kostyantynivka. After half an hour of waiting in the shelter, when we can’t hear the drone anymore, we move quickly to our car parked under tree cover, and speed out of Rodynske. By the side of the highway we see smoke billowing and something burning – it’s most likely a downed drone. Towns like Rodynske are now ruined shells, pummelled by Russian air assaults We drive to Bilytske, further away from the frontline. We see a row of houses destroyed by a missile strike overnight. One of them was Svitlana’s home. “It’s getting worse and worse. Earlier, we could hear distant explosions, they were far away. But now our town is getting targeted – we’re experiencing it ourselves,” says the 61-year-old, as she picks up a few belongings from the wreckage of her home. Luckily Svitlana wasn’t at home when the attack occurred. “Go into the centre of the town, you’ll see so much that is destroyed there. And the bakery and zoo have been destroyed too,” she says. At a safehouse just out of reach of drones, we meet soldiers of the artillery unit of the 5th Assault Brigade. “You can feel the intensity of Russian assaults increasing. Rockets, mortars, drones, they’re using everything they have to cut off supply routes going into the city,” says Serhii. His unit has been waiting for three days to deploy to their positions, waiting for cloud cover or high-speed winds to give them protection from drones. Serhii’s unit had to wait days to deploy to their frontline positions, because of the drone threat In an ever-evolving conflict, soldiers have had to rapidly adapt to new threats posed by changing technology. And the latest threat comes from fibre optic drones. A spool of tens of kilometres of cable is fitted to the bottom of a drone and the physical fibre optic cord is attached to the controller held by the pilot. “The video and control signal is transmitted to and from the drone through the cable, not through radio frequencies. This means it can’t be jammed by electronic interceptors,” says a soldier with the call sign Moderator, a drone engineer with the 68th Jaeger Brigade. When drones began to be used in this war in a big way, both militaries fitted their vehicles with electronic warfare systems, which could neutralise drones. That protection has evaporated with the arrival of fibre optic drones, and in the deployment of these devices, Russia currently has the edge. Ukraine is trying to ramp up production. “Russia started using fibre optic drones much before us, while we were still testing them. These drones can be used in places where we have to go lower than usual drones. We can even enter houses and look for targets inside,” says Venia, a drone pilot with the 68th Jaeger Brigade. “We’ve started joking that maybe we should carry scissors to cut the cord,” says Serhii, the artillery man. Fibre optic drones do have drawbacks – they are slower and the cable could get entangled in trees. But at the moment, their widespread use by Russia means that transporting soldiers to and from their positions can often be deadlier than the battlefield itself. Moderator works on Ukrainian fibre optic drones, to use against the invaders “When you enter a position, you don’t know whether you’ve been spotted or not. And if you have been spotted, then you may already be living the last hours of your life,” says Oles, Chief Sergeant of the reconnaissance unit of the 5th Assault Brigade. This threat means that soldiers are spending longer and longer in their positions. Oles and his men are in the infantry, serving in the trenches right at the very front of Ukraine’s defence. It’s rare for journalists these days to speak to infantrymen, as it’s become too risky to go to these trenches. We meet Oles and Maksym in a rural home converted into a makeshift base, where the soldiers come to rest when they’re not on deployment. “The longest I spent at the position was 31 days, but I do know guys who have spent 90 and even 120 days there. Back before the drones arrived, the rotations could have been between 3 or 7 days at the position,” says Maksym. “War is blood, death, wet mud and a chill that spreads from head to toe. And this is how you spend every day. I remember one instance when we didn’t sleep for three days, alert every minute. The Russians kept coming at us wave after wave. Even a minor lapse would have meant we were dead.” Oles says Russia’s infantry has changed its tactics. “Earlier they attacked in groups. Now they only send one or two people at times. They also use motorcycles and in a few instances, quad bikes. Sometimes they slip through.” What this means is that the front lines in some parts are no longer conventional lines with the Ukrainians on one side and the Russians on the other, but more like pieces on a chessboard during play, where positions can be intertwined. This also makes it harder to see advances made by either side. Despite Russia’s recent gains, it will not be quick or easy for it to take the whole of the Donetsk region, where Pokrovsk lies. Ukraine has pushed back hard, but it needs a steady supply of weapons and ammunition to sustain the fight. And as the war enters a fourth summer, Ukraine’s manpower issues against a much ******* Russian army are also evident. Most of the soldiers we meet joined the military after the war began. They’ve had a few months of training, but have had to learn a lot on the job in the middle of a raging war. Maksym worked for a drinks company before he joined the military. I asked how his family copes with his job. “It’s hard, it’s really hard. My family really supports me. But I have a two-year-old son, and I don’t get to see him much. I do video call him though, so everything is as fine as it could be under the circumstances,” he trails off, eyes welling up with tears. Maksym is a soldier fighting for his country, but he’s also just a father missing his two-year-old boy. Albany council refuses to extend Nullaki lime pit operating window and remove transport restrictions Albany council refuses to extend Nullaki lime pit operating window and remove transport restrictions A proposal to triple the operating time ******* and remove transport restrictions of a lime pit in Nullaki has been shut down by Albany councillors. Councillors voted on Tuesday to refuse an amendment to the pit, located at Lot 9005 Eden Road in Nullaki, that would see its operational window extended from four months a year to 12 months a year. Proponent Graeme Robertson and Great Southern Lime also requested the removal of restrictions of 50,000 tonnes per year to be transported off the site, and no more than 84 vehicles a week or 20 vehicles a day. The original extractive industry was granted approval — subject to 45 conditions — by the State Administrative Tribunal in 2019 after the City of Albany refused it. Primary concerns expressed by councillors and the majority of submissions made during the public comment ******* included public safety, noise disturbance, environmental concerns and a current lack of compliance. Of the 105 submissions made, only five supported the extension, with the majority citing dicey near misses they had seen or experienced themselves with the trucks that utilise the same narrow, convoluted roads as local residents and the school bus. Deputy mayor Paul Terry acknowledged the demand for lime but noted that conditions were put on the original approval for “very good reasons” and that many trucks did not obey the 40km/h speed limit of the road. “In the report, it talks about, I think it’s 133 of those truck movements out of 140 or so were over the 40km/h (speed limit),” he said. “In fact, over 50 per cent of trucks that were going through there were over 50km/h. “Now that has a significant safety impact on the residents that go there.” The pit occupies an 8ha area of the 437ha lot and is zoned as environmental conservation land. Three members of the public spoke in favour of the extension and pointed to the necessity of lime for farmers in regulating the pH of their soil and the cost of trucking it in from further distances. Cr Craig McKinley spoke against the motion of refusal, comparing the regulations to the Federal live sheep export ban in its effect on farmers and urged the council not to add more restrictions to the agricultural industry. “We should be encouraging business,” he said. “(Regarding the) transport speeding, well, I used the analogy at the committee meeting that they can’t control the speeding. “It’s up to the WA Police to control and regulate the speeding trucks, it’s not up to the business.” The motion to refuse the amendment was carried 7-3, with Crs McKinley, Thomas Brough and Mario Lionetti voting against. 22. Lammy tough talk undermined as trade envoy flies to Israel Lammy tough talk undermined as trade envoy flies to Israel The ***’s top trade envoy to Israel flew to the country to promote ties with Britain days after the Foreign Secretary halted formal trade talks, threatening to undercut the Government’s tough stance on Gaza. David Lammy suspended trade negotiations with Israel last week in protest at the expansion of its ground operation in Gaza, which he called “an affront to the values of British people”. In an impassioned speech to MPs, he said Israel’s “egregious” policies in Gaza and the West Bank were “damaging” Britain’s relationship with the country. But seven days later, Lord Austin, the ***’s trade envoy to Israel, travelled to the country to “promote trade”. It risks undermining the tough message sent by Mr Lammy last week, which marked Sir Keir Starmer’s Government’s strongest rebuke of Israel since it suspended dozens of arms exports in September. Announcing the decision to break off trade talks on May 20, the Foreign Secretary said: “We will be reviewing co-operation with them under the 2030 bilateral roadmap. The Netanyahu government’s actions have made this necessary.” David Lammy telling the House of Commons of the suspension of formal trade talks with Israel on May 20 – House of Commons/AFP via Getty Images But on Tuesday evening, Lord Austin, a former Labour minister, announced his arrival in Israel with a post on X. He wrote: “Greetings from Israel! I’m here to meet businesses & officials to promote trade with the ***. Trade with Israel provides many thousands of good jobs in the *** and brings people together in the great multi-cultural democracy that is Israel.” The Government defended the trip, telling the Financial Times that Lord Austin was there to promote Britain’s relationship with Israeli businesses. A spokesman said: “We suspended talks with Israel on a new FTA because it is not possible to advance discussions with a Netanyahu government pursuing such egregious policies in Gaza and the West Bank. “Lord Austin is in Israel this week in his capacity as trade envoy to maintain our relationship with Israeli businesses.” Britain began its negotiations to strengthen its existing free trade agreement with Israel in 2022. Last year, Labour confirmed its plans to deepen the ***’s £5.8 billion trade links – a move that caused rifts among the party’s backbenchers. The decision to cease trade talks over the Gaza offensive sparked a furious response from Israel’s foreign ministry, which said: “If, due to anti-Israel obsession and domestic political considerations, the British Government is willing to harm the British economy – that is its own prerogative.” Lord Austin, who now sits as a non-affiliated peer in the House of Lords, has served as the ***’s trade envoy since 2019. Earlier this year, he said he was “delighted” to be reappointed by Sir Keir to represent the Labour Government. “Hundreds of businesses and thousands of jobs in the *** depend on trade and investment with Israel, and I’ll be doing everything I can to help our brilliant team at the ***’s embassy in Tel Aviv strengthen the relationship between our two great countries,” he told the Jewish Chronicle. “Economic growth is the Government’s number one mission and I’m looking forward to playing my part in supporting this vital work.” Lord Austin quit Labour over its anti-Semitism crisis in 2019, accusing Jeremy Corbyn, the party leader at the time, of presiding over a “culture of extremism”. Read more here. Feeling stressed about an upcoming event? Imagine, for a moment, that you have a magic anti-anxiety pill in front of you that will take away your nerves. Picture its packaging, and feel yourself popping the pill from its foil. Now, visualise bringing it to your mouth, dropping it in, and conjure up the sensation of swallowing it. These were the instructions that Jens Gaab and his colleagues at the University of Basel in Switzerland gave participants in a recent study investigating the possibilities of the placebo effect. The participants, university students who were studying for an exam, were instructed to repeat the procedure twice a day for three weeks. Remarkably, it worked — those who took an imaginary pill experienced less test anxiety than control participants who were simply asked to report their anxiety levels as the exam approached. “And their performance was significantly better,” says Gaab. It is now well accepted that placebo pills can sometimes relieve symptoms, and the results from Gaab and his team suggest we can achieve the same effect when that pill exists only in our mind. It is just one of many surprising ways that imagination may help to improve our health, happiness and success. So, what can we do to make the most of these benefits? 24. Microsoft Stock Rallies 33%—Will Nvidia’s Earnings Be the Next Catalyst? Microsoft Stock Rallies 33%—Will Nvidia’s Earnings Be the Next Catalyst? The Magnificent Seven stocks have been rallying since the end of April. A key catalyst has been better-than-expected earnings and guidance. However, unlike in 2023 and 2024, the stocks aren’t trading in unison. Some technology stocks are outperforming the rest, and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:) is one of those names. Since hitting its 52-week low in early April, Microsoft stock is up approximately 33%. That’s turned the stock positive in 2025. It’s also trading higher over the last 12 months. However, with Memorial Day behind investors, trading volume may go down, leaving investors to wonder what to do with Microsoft before the company reports earnings again in late July. The answer may come from NVIDIA (NASDAQ:) in the short term as well as the broader economy. But long-term investors can confidently hold the stock and add to their positions on any meaningful dip. Analysts are maintaining their price targets, including Goldman Sachs, which raised its price target on Microsoft stock to $550 from $480 on May 21. A Shift in CapEx Spending May Boost Financials Over the past year, increased capital expenditures have weighed down Microsoft’s gross margin. The company’s overall gross margin is not showing a steep decline, but it’s also not growing as some investors would like. That’s because of the company’s Cloud division and the amount of spending required in the data center area. The company simply didn’t have enough capacity to meet the demand. Turning leased space into new physical facilities is crucial to the company’s AI plans, but Microsoft’s spending came at a cost to earnings and free cash flow. That’s not to say that Microsoft won’t continue to spend, but the kind of spending it will be doing will be more directly aligned with future revenue. In this case, it means the hardware (i.e., CPUs and GPUs) needed to build up the company’s server infrastructure. Even though earnings will be pressured, margins are expected to improve, which may be enough to justify a run to the all-time high. At the very least, it supports the long-term bull case for Microsoft stock. Practicing What They Preach Regarding AI Investors can grow skeptical when they hear companies talk about cost-cutting initiatives. The reasoning is that you can’t cut your way to growth. However, investors have been positively giddy about Microsoft’s announcement that it was cutting about 3% of its workforce. The reason is AI. In this case, Microsoft reported that it is deploying its own AI tools in areas such as customer service, customer support, sales, and finance. That means the company is maintaining productivity while also improving earnings. NVIDIA May Be a Short-Term Tell on Microsoft Stock Microsoft’s increased hardware spending is largely coming from NVIDIA. We may learn more about that when NVIDIA reports earnings on May 28. Right now, traders appear to be more bearish in the next three to four months. Sentiment on those short-duration calls may change if NVIDIA issues strong guidance. And if NVIDIA comes in light, the downside appears already priced into the put options. However, another reason for the bullish short-term outlook may be partly due to Microsoft’s valuation. At 34x forward earnings, Microsoft stock is trading at a premium to its three- and five-year averages. That said, if momentum traders don’t find a better target to shoot for, a large-cap, blue-chip company like Microsoft will continue to attract attention. Traders are becoming more bullish on longer-dated calls, supporting the expectation of stronger economic growth in the year’s second half. Either way, Microsoft is relevant to where AI is expanding today and is certain to have a seat at the table for where AI moves in the future.
