Nvidia retail investors told us why they’re unfazed by DeepSeek’s market disruption and refusing to sell

Nvidia investors aren’t giving up on the stock after its steep sell-off this week.
Traders said they saw the DeepSeek-fueled decline as an opportunity to scoop up more shares.
Investors told *** they had faith in Nvidia’s tech dominance and long-term growth trajectory.
Nvidia’s nearly $600 billion sell-off on Monday wasn’t enough to shake the faith of retail bulls, and everyday investors told Business Insider that they saw the plunge as a golden opportunity to buy more of the stock at a discount.
The chipmaker, which soared 176% in 2024, endured a severe sell-off on Monday as DeepSeek rattled the broader tech sector. Shares of the AI darling slid 17%, causing the company to lose $589 million in market value, the steepest single-day loss in market-value history.
But many in the retail crowd are still bullish, and DeepSeek hasn’t shaken their faith in the stock even as it challenges Wall Street’s assumptions about the AI trade.
Retail traders purchased a record amount of the stock during Monday’s rout, snapping up a net $562 million worth of Nvidia shares, VandaTrack told ***. According to data stretching back to 2014, that represents the largest single-day inflow to Nvidia from retail traders in at least a decade.
Vanda said the buying spree continued on Tuesday, with retail investors purchasing a net $921 million worth of Nvidia shares in two days.
The stock clawed back some losses in Tuesday’s session, rising about 9%, but was down almost 5% Wednesday afternoon.
Nvidia traders who spoke with *** said they remained confident in the chipmaker and were planning to “buy the dip.”
Shade Gotau, a retail trader who began investing in Nvidia in 2023, said she’s invested in the chipmaker for the long haul and wasn’t shaken by the recent sell-off. In her view, fluctuations in the stock are normal, and she plans to keep purchasing more shares every month.
“The recent market sell-off didn’t shake my confidence,” she told ***, calling the recent decline a “prime opportunity.”
“If the stock continues to dip, I’ll be there to buy,” she added.
Kiana Danial, a retail trader who began investing in Nvidia in 2016 and had sold some of her shares to help fund a down payment on a home, also brushed off the losses and said she bought the dip as the stock was sold off.
Nvidia has weathered bouts of pain before, she said, pointing to 2022, when shares plunged 50% amid a broader bear market that year.
“All that’s to say, long-term investors should not get shaken by temporary market hiccups like this,” Danial said. “I bought more. I am planning to buy more.”
Story Continues
Danial said she doubted the lasting impact of DeepSeek, the artificial intelligence app from a ******** startup that has upended Wall Street’s view of the AI ***** this week. She questioned whether the company’s model was comparable to those of its US rivals trained on superior chips.
“Because everything that so far we know about this, first of all, is based on what they said,” she said of DeepSeek’s debut last week. “The fundamentals of a rock-solid company like Nvidia or even Microsoft, they don’t just crumble because a competitor showed up.”
Kaihan Toofan, another Nvidia retail trader, also questioned DeepSeek’s ability to compete with its larger US peers. In his opinion, he said, DeepSeek’s move to disrupt established players in the space is “laughable.”
“They’re stepping into a battlefield dominated by giants who have been promoting and refining AI technologies for years, pouring billions into research and development,” he told ***. “Their efforts seem amateurish at best.”
Toofan isn’t investing in Nvidia for the long term, he said, but he holds some shares and plans to acquire more, as he believes the sell-off was an overreaction from the market.
“I will be buying a lot once the market starts to move,” he said, pointing to the slew of megacap tech companies’ earnings coming out this week.
Trace Graham, an investor who first purchased Nvidia about a year ago, said that the stock looked expensive before its sell-off on Monday but that the sharp pullback looked like an attractive entry point.
“I think the bubble definitely did pop, and I think that the market was a little overpriced. I think we got a really big reality check, but I don’t think it’s the worst thing. And I think it’ll pick back up,” he said, adding that he would also hold on to his existing shares.
The prospect of the stock seeing a more pronounced sell-off also doesn’t concern Graham. Like other traders who spoke with ***, he doesn’t see DeepSeek as all that threatening to the AI trade.
“I think Nvidia is still super powerful,” he said, adding that DeepSeek was trained with older, less powerful Nvidia chips. “I think it’s a good thing, and I think eventually Nvidia will be back to where it was, probably even more,” he said. He added that in his view, Nvidia would continue to be the top provider of chips for other countries and companies working on AI.
Chris D., an investor who started buying Nvidia stock several years ago, said he planned to keep his shares as long as he lives so that his children could get them tax-free.
He said it was “gut-wrenching” to see the stock plummet on Monday. However, when he looked into it more and caught up on the DeepSeek news, he wasn’t as concerned, he said.
“Nvidia is booked solid for quarters on their orders,” he said, adding that he didn’t see the company’s dominance slipping.
Nvidia is the poster child of the AI trade, and the stock has risen 2,000% in the past five years. Even as some forecasters have been sounding the alarm on the potential for a larger pullback, Wall Street’s bull case for the stock and the tech sector seems to be intact a few days after the sell-off.
“At the end of the day there is only one chip company in the world launching autonomous, robotics, and broader AI use cases and that is Nvidia,” the Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives wrote in a note following Monday’s decline. “Launching broader AI infrastructure is a whole other ballgame and nothing with DeepSeek makes us believe anything different.”

Priti Patel clarifies defence of party’s immigration record
Priti Patel clarifies defence of party’s immigration record
Priti Patel has put out a statement insisting she “was not happy” about the levels of immigration under the previous Conservative government, after earlier defending her party’s record.
In the earlier interview, Patel also declined to apologise for a rise in the numbers coming to the *** which took place when she was home secretary.
Speaking to The Sun’s Never Mind The Ballots, Patel, now shadow foreign secretary, said it was “totally distortionary” to suggest the government in which she served had thrown open the ***’s borders.
Her party leader Kemi Badenoch appeared to distance herself from the remarks, with her spokesman saying the Conservatives would “tell the truth about the mistakes we made”.
“While the last Conservative government may have tried to control numbers, we did not deliver,” he added.
Last year, shortly after becoming leader, Badenoch held a press conference in which she said the rise in immigration had been “a collective failure of political leaders from all parties over decades… but on behalf of the Conservative party, as the new leader, it is right that I accept responsibility and say truthfully, we got this wrong.”
Figures released in 2024 showed net migration to the *** hit a record 906,000 in the year to June 2023, before falling to 728,000 the following year.
Immigration rose sharply under the points-based system for work visas, introduced after Brexit.
Challenged on the figures in an interview on Thursday, Patel – who was home secretary between 2019 and 2022 – sought to defend the Conservative’s record on immigration.
She said the points-based system had allowed the government to control the flow of immigration based on “what our economy needs and what it doesn’t need”.
Asked if she should apologise to voters who were told Brexit would lead to a reduction in immigration, Patel said: “I did not mislead them”.
“We made it quite clear it would be people from the rest of the world, people with skills” coming into the *** post-Brexit, she added.
She said many people came to the *** on health and social care visas, adding: “Are we now saying we don’t need those people in our NHS?”
However, she also said she was “not fine” with big rises in immigration and argued that the previous government should have done more to train people in the *** instead of relying on foreign labour to fill gaps in sectors such as farming.
Asked why that had not happened, she said: “That’s a very good question that should have been posed to [environment ministers] and to others.
“I was doing other national security issues – the job of the home secretary.”
Responding to the interview, Labour labelled the Conservatives “out of touch” and said Patel “seems proud of her central role in the Tory open-border experiment”.
Reform *** leader Nigel Farage said the Conservatives had a “disastrous record on immigration – and would do it again”.
A few hours after the interview was broadcast, Patel posted a message on social media in which she said: “The immigration system in our country is not fit for purpose.
“As I said in the interview, I was not happy about the high numbers while the Conservatives were in government.
“Our party is now under new leadership and it is important we learn from our mistakes and how we can do things better.”

Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Kickboxer Is Getting A Game From Ex-Call Of Duty Devs
Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Kickboxer Is Getting A Game From Ex-Call Of Duty Devs
In 1989, the original Kickboxer martial arts movie helped establish Jean-Claude Van Damme as an action star. Now, for the first time ever, the Kickboxer franchise is making the leap to video games with Force Multiplier Studios, a team of developers with experience on Call of Duty, Borderlands, Halo, Tomb Raider, and Mortal Kombat.
Screenwriter Dimitri Logothetis and producer Rob Hickman–two of the filmmakers behind the 2016 film Kickboxer: Vengeance and its sequel, Kickboxer: Retaliation–are working with Force Multiplier Studios to bring the Kickboxer video game to life. But for now, the game is at such an early stage of development that there’s nothing to show off.
While speaking with IGN, Force Multiplier Studios was very vague about whether Van Damme will lend his likeness to the game or participate in any way. Instead, the studio stated that the game “will combine the rich narrative of Kickboxer with kinetic martial arts action to deliver an intense, high-octane brawler, and feature iconic characters and locations from the franchise originally starring martial arts icon Jean-Claude Van Damme.”
Van Damme returned to the franchise in Kickboxer: Vengeance and Kickboxer: Retaliation, and he remains the star who is most associated with the films. According to IGN, Van Damme is also set to return for another sequel, Kickboxer: Armageddon, which is expected to film later this year. Outside of Kickboxer, Van Damme portrayed a variant of Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 1.

How to watch the Chiefs vs Eagles on Sunday, February 9
How to watch the Chiefs vs Eagles on Sunday, February 9
The Caesars Superdome will host Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, February 9. Here’s how to tune in to the big game! (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images) (Chris Graythen via Getty Images)
The Kansas City Chiefs have won their third AFC Championship in a row, sending them to Super Bowl LIX where they’ll face NFC champions the Philadelphia Eagles. The two teams both made it to the championship game back in 2023 when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles 38-35; will the Eagles get their revenge this year, or will the Chiefs nab an unprecedented third win in a row? We’ll find out on Super Bowl Sunday!
Super Bowl LIX will be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA on Sunday, Feb. 9 with a 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show will feature Kendrick Lamar, who just confirmed that SZA will be joining him. The championship game will be broadcast nationally on Fox this year and will be available on platforms like DirecTV and Fubo. Looking for a free way to tune in? The Super Bowl will also be livestreamed on Tubi — in 4K, no less!
Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the Super Bowl.
When is Super Bowl LIX?
The 2025 Super Bowl will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9.
What time does the Super Bowl start?
Super Bowl LIX kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
How to watch the Super Bowl live
Super Bowl LIX will air nationally on Fox and stream live on Tubi.
How to stream the Super Bowl for free this year
Tubi will be livestreaming Fox’s coverage of the Super Bowl this year — the first time the free platform has done so. It will also be available in the Fox Sports app on mobile platforms. Beyond that, you can also sign up for free trials of DirecTV Stream, Fubo, YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV, each of which carry Fox in most locations. Two important caveats: Verify that your locality includes a Fox stream by inputting your ZIP code on their respective sites. And if you don’t want to pay, make sure you cancel before the trial subscription ends — they can be as short as three days, so plan ahead.
Tubi will host a free livestream of Fox’s game day coverage of the 2025 Super Bowl. If you don’t have cable and aren’t looking to spend a dime to watch the big game, Tubi is a great free option to tune in. And with its pledge to stream the game in 4K, it could also provide the best video quality of the game — assuming your internet provider has the requisite bandwidth.
For sports fans looking to catch every moment of the game, it should be noted that this will be Tubi’s first big live event — the Fox-owned platform sees most its views from content in its on-demand library.
Beyond the Super Bowl, Tubi has a range of ad-supported on-demand content available totally free. They also have Tubi original programming including last year’s streaming standout: Sidelined: The QB and Me.
Watch free at Tubi
How to watch the 2025 Super Bowl without cable
The Tubi option above is the easiest go-to starting point for free Super Bowl streaming — but no one knows how the service will hold up under what’s certain to be its most intensive influx of concurrent users. There are plenty of worthwhile backups, each of which offer more comprehensive options for cordcutters beyond the game itself — say, watching SportsCenter on ESPN before or after the game. And most of our picks for best live TV streaming services offer free trials, so you can check them out risk-free. If you time it right, your free trial can include the Super Bowl broadcast, too.
DirecTV Stream is Engadget’s pick for “best cable without a contract.” And while we haven’t yet fully tested the service’s new MySports package yet, we’re highlighting it here for obvious reasons. It gets you access to all the usual football suspects: NFL Network, ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS and, of course, Fox. (Important: Verify your ZIP code before signing up to confirm that the local network affiliates, including Fox, are available in your area.)
Right now, you can try all this out free, and then get your first three months for just $50/month. After that, the cost of this sports streaming package rises to $70/month (still cheaper than its competitors). So if you’re interested in trying out a live TV streaming service for watching football (next season), but aren’t ready to commit or drop a ton of money, DirecTV Stream and its MySports tier is worth checking out.
You’ll also get unlimited Cloud DVR storage included in whatever DirecTV package you choose.
Try free at DirecTV
Prior to the debut of the MySports package, we named Fubo TV the best live TV streaming service for sports. It gives you access to ESPN, NFL Network, NBC, Fox, ABC, CBS and 100+ more live channels. (Important: Verify your ZIP code before signing up to confirm that the local network affiliates, including Fox, are available in your area.) At $80/month, the live TV streaming service is definitely a big investment for football fans. But it offers nearly every channel you’ll need to watch the NFL, and still leaves you with major savings compared to a traditional cable package. Fubo subscribers also get unlimited cloud DVR storage. You can try Fubo free right now.
Try free at Fubo
YouTube TV
YouTube TV is our top overall choice for best live TV streaming service. Most locales will have Fox to watch the Super Bowl (again, check your ZIP code). YouTube TV offers sports-friendly stats and “fantasy football” views (at least during the regular season). It also offers tight integration with NFL Sunday Ticket. Just note that service requires an additional hefty fee — and is also available as a standalone.
Try free at YouTube TV
Hulu + Live TV offers a wide array of sports options (including Fox, in most localities, for the Super Bowl). It’s got fewer regional sports networks than some rivals, but this is the only one that bundles in on-demand services Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ as part of the base fee, which is why it’s number three on our list of top overall streaming TV recommendations.
Try for free at Hulu + Live TV
Where is the 2025 Super Bowl?
The 2025 Super Bowl will be held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The venue has been host to seven previous Super Bowl games.
Who is performing in the Super Bowl 59 halftime show?
Kendrick Lamar is headlining Super Bowl LIX, with a guest appearance by SZA.
Who is playing in the Super Bowl 2025?
AFC champions the Kansas City Chiefs will play NFC champs the Philadelphia Eagles.
More ways to watch Super Bowl LIX
Thanks to the wide array of streaming options detailed above, you’ll be able to watch the Super Bowl on nearly any current device with a screen. There are plenty of Super Bowl TV deals ahead of the game if you need to upgrade that aging 40-inch screen with the dead pixels in the corner. And for as little as $40 or less, a new Roku or Fire TV device will ensure that you have all of these apps (including Tubi) if they’re not already built-in to your screen. See our list of best streaming devices for the full range of options.

Tripadvisor and Liberty TripAdvisor Announce Planned Merger
Tripadvisor and Liberty TripAdvisor Announce Planned Merger
NEEDHAM, Mass., Dec. 19, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Tripadvisor, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRIP) (“Tripadvisor”) and Liberty TripAdvisor Holdings, Inc. (OTCMKTS: LTRPA, LTRPB) (“Liberty TripAdvisor“) announced that they have entered into an agreement and plan of merger (the “Merger Agreement”) whereby Tripadvisor will acquire Liberty TripAdvisor (the “Merger”). In connection with the Merger, (i) the shares of Liberty TripAdvisor Series A Common Stock and Series B Common Stock issued and outstanding immediately prior to the effective time of the Merger will be converted into the right to receive $0.2567 per share in cash (without interest), totaling approximately $20 million in the aggregate; (ii) all of the shares of Liberty TripAdvisor’s 8% Series A Cumulative Redeemable Preferred Stock issued and outstanding immediately prior to the effective time of the Merger will be converted into the right to receive, in the aggregate, $42,471,000 in cash, without interest, and 3,037,959 validly issued, fully paid and non-assessable shares of Tripadvisor common stock; and (iii) Liberty TripAdvisor’s 0.50% Exchangeable Senior Debentures (the “Exchangeable Debentures”) of approximately $330 million will be repaid in accordance with their terms. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025.
Liberty TripAdvisor owns 16,445,894 shares of Tripadvisor common stock and 12,799,999 shares of Tripadvisor Class B common stock, of which 2,422,210 shares of Tripadvisor common stock are pledged as collateral against Liberty TripAdvisor’s variable prepaid forward contract (the “VPF”). Upon consummation of the Merger, Tripadvisor plans to retire approximately 27 million shares of Tripadvisor common stock currently held by Liberty TripAdvisor, net of approximately 2.4 million shares underlying the VPF. Accordingly, Tripadvisor views this transaction as effectively a repurchase of the Tripadvisor common stock held by Liberty TripAdvisor. The implied share price for the acquisition of such shares of Tripadvisor common stock from Liberty Tripadvisor is $16.21 (which reflects a premium of approximately 16% based on the 10-day volume-weighted average share price as of December 17, 2024). The aggregate transaction value is approximately $435 million. The transaction will result in the simplification of Tripadvisor’s capital structure into a single class of shares with no controlling stockholder, thereby creating more strategic flexibility for Tripadvisor.
“We are pleased with the agreement reached with Liberty TripAdvisor, and I want to thank the Special Committee for its diligent work on behalf of all stakeholders,” said Tripadvisor President & Chief Executive Officer Matt Goldberg. “The transaction presents a unique and favorable opportunity to simplify our capital structure, create strategic flexibility, and retire a large portion of our shares, while maintaining a healthy balance sheet. We believe this transaction marks a new era for Tripadvisor and we are excited to continue to pursue our strategic vision across travel and experiences.”
“We believe this transaction maximizes value for Liberty TripAdvisor stakeholders given the challenges of its capital structure that were exacerbated during COVID. This will simplify Tripadvisor’s corporate structure and allow management to focus on their go forward operating strategy,” said Greg Maffei, Chairman of the Board of Tripadvisor and President and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty TripAdvisor. “There is value to be unlocked at Tripadvisor, particularly in experiences, and the company will be more nimble to pursue these opportunities with a simplified corporate structure. We appreciate the work that Tripadvisor and Certares have done to reach this agreement.”
The transaction was unanimously recommended by the Tripadvisor Special Committee comprised of independent and disinterested directors and advised by legal and financial advisors. The Board of Directors of both Tripadvisor and Liberty TripAdvisor have approved this transaction. However, closing of the Merger is subject to certain customary conditions, including the adoption of the Merger Agreement by the holders of a majority of the aggregate voting power of the outstanding shares of Liberty TripAdvisor Series A and Series B common stock entitled to vote thereon. If the transaction has not closed as of March 27, 2025, Tripadvisor will provide a loan to Liberty TripAdvisor for any amounts that may be needed to address any Exchangeable Debentures that are put to Liberty TripAdvisor on March 27, 2025. The loan will be secured by shares of Tripadvisor common stock and Class B common stock held by Liberty TripAdvisor, and will be canceled at closing of the transaction (or, in the event the Merger is not completed, will become due and payable shortly after the termination of the transaction agreements).
Greg Maffei, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty TripAdvisor, has also agreed to vote, subject to certain exceptions, shares beneficially owned by him, representing approximately 39% of the aggregate voting power of Liberty TripAdvisor, in favor of the transaction.
Tripadvisor will post a presentation with a summary of these details on its investor relations website at [Hidden Content].

UFC ‘beyond disgusted’ by Bryce Mitchell’s pro-Hitler rant – but no punishment
UFC ‘beyond disgusted’ by Bryce Mitchell’s pro-Hitler rant – but no punishment
How do Dana White and the UFC feel about Bryce Mitchell going on a pro-Adolf Hitler diatribe on his podcast?
“We’re beyond disgusted,” White said Thursday at the Power Slap 11 post-match news conference.
Earlier in the day, Mitchell released the first episode of his “ArkanSanity Podcast” where, in response to Elon Musk’s recent Nazi-like salute at a Donald Trump rally, he lauded Hitler as “a good guy” while spouting off homophobic rhetoric and denying the Holocaust occurred.
While White usually shrugs off when his fighters share their bigoted views publicly, he opened Thursday’s news conference by addressing the Mitchell controversy head on.
“I’ve heard a lot of dumb, ignorant sh*t in my day, but this one’s probably the worst,” White said. “When you talk about Hitler, who’s responsible for the death of 6 million Jews, and he tried to completely eliminate a race of people. World War 2 was the deadliest war in history: 15 million military deaths, 45 million civilians and 25 soldiers were killed in World War 2. Second of all, Hitler is one of the most disgusting and evil human beings to ever walk the face of the earth, and anyone who even tries to take an opposing position is a moron. That’s the problem with the internet and social media. You provide a platform for a lot of dumb, ignorant people.”
While he didn’t specify who, White said the UFC reached out to Mitchell directly to let him know its position on his remarks. White said Mitchell didn’t apologize for his message but did say he was sorry for putting the UFC in a compromising position with his words.
“Out of all the dumb, ignorant sh*t I’ve heard in my life, this has to be the dumbest and most ignorant,” White said.
‘It’s free speech’

So where does that leave Mitchell and his standing with the UFC? Apparently no different than it was before his pro-Hitler remarks as White made no indication that the promotion plans to discipline Mitchell.
“That’s what everyone wants to hear, about punishment, but it’s free speech,” White said. “I don’t have to love it, you don’t have to love it, you know.”
The UFC also doesn’t have to stand for it, but as has been the case in recent years with fighter transgressions, no action will be taken by the UFC and Mitchell will continue fighting in the octagon.
“Well, that’s the beautiful thing about this business: For all of you that hate Bryce Mitchell, you get to hopefully see him get his **** whooped on global television,” White said. “What do you want me to say about it? You know where I am with free speech. We’re disgusted by it. I think he’s literally one of the dumbest human beings. Let’s not forget this is a guy who took a drill through his nut sack then had to reverse it. That’s the level of stupid that we’re talking about here. …
“He’s stupid. He’s dumb. You can’t fix dumb people. You know what I mean? When you have somebody that’s really, really stupid, and that’s who we’re talking about here, what do you do? How do you talk sense to a ******? You don’t.”
Mitchell, 30, is 2-2 in his past four fights after starting his career 15-0. He most recently defeated Kron Gracie by slam TKO this past December at UFC 310. That was Mitchell’s first fight in a year after he was the victim of a Knockout of the Year candidate against Josh Emmett at UFC 296 in December 2023.

Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** Steam Keys Are Discounted For A Limited Time
Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** Steam Keys Are Discounted For A Limited Time
After an impressive showing at the Xbox Developer Direct on January 23, Koei Tecmo surprised fans by dropping Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** the same day. Now, just a week later, the game is discounted on PC. Head over to Fanatical and use promo code FANATICAL15 to get a Steam key of the remastered action classic for $42.49 (was $50).
Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** lets you play as Ryu Hayabusa–a ninja who wields the legendary Dragon Sword. The core gameplay has remained the same over the past 15 years, meaning you’ll still be treated to a fast-paced and bloody combat system. However, this new version benefits from improved visuals, stages, characters, and lighting effects from Unreal Engine 5 that create a more modern gaming experience.
Other additions to Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** include new characters, new modes for beginners, and a reworked weapon upgrade system. In short, this is the best way to experience the game in 2025.
While Fanatical is running its Lunar New Year event, you’ll also get a free mystery gift with your purchase. You’ll either receive a free Steam game or a coupon to use on your next purchase.
Alternatively, Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** is available on Xbox and PC Game Pass. So if you’d rather access it through Microsoft’s popular service, you can pick up an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 3-Month Membership for $50. Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** has Xbox Cloud Gaming support, so you can play it on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and your mobile device while on the go.
Ninja Gaiden 2 ******
Fanatical also has a deal on the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, dropping the price to $34.79 (was $40). This collection bundles together Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, and all of the original DLC content. The Deluxe Edition of the Master Collection includes a digital art book and soundtrack and is on ***** for $42.25 (was $50).
If you haven’t played the series before, it’s worth noting that Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 are different versions of the same game. Sigma 2 released on PS3 in 2009, one year after the Ninja Gaiden 2’s release on Xbox 360. Team Ninja told the same story in Sigma 2, but the gameplay, level design, boss battles, and other features were markedly different. Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** is more of an amalgamation of the two previous releases.
The general consensus among longtime fans is that Ninja Gaiden ******–available for $5 on the Xbox Store–is better than Ninja Gaiden Sigma. So far, fan and critic reactions to Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** have been generally aligned with the reception of Sigma 2.
During the Developer Direct, Koei Tecmo announced that Ninja Gaiden 4 will drop sometime in 2025–so whether you’re a fan or just experiencing the gory action for the first time, Ninja Gaiden 2 ****** is worth checking out ahead of the arrival of the long-awaited sequel.

American Airlines ******: All feared dead after plane, helicopter collided near Reagan National Airport in DC
American Airlines ******: All feared dead after plane, helicopter collided near Reagan National Airport in DC
All of the 64 people onboard an American Airlines flight, and the three military personnel onboard a US Army helicopter that collided near Reagan National Airport are now assumed dead.
American Airlines flight 5342 was approaching Ronald Reagan National Airport late on Wednesday when it crashed into a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter.
The plane, a Bombardier CRJ700 which had travelled from Wichita, Kansas, broke into multiple pieces, landing in the freezing waters of the Potomac River.
Washington DC fire chief John Donnelly provided an update on Thursday, saying: “We don’t believe there are any survivors.”
“We are now at the point where we are switching from a rescue operation to a recovery operation.”
US President Donald Trump said the plane was doing “everything right” as it approached for landing.
“The helicopter was in the wrong place at the wrong time and a tragedy occurred,” he said.
“You had a pilot problem from the standpoint of the helicopter.”
Mr Trump went on to suggest DE&I hiring could be a factor in the cause of the ******, however, provided no information to back this claim up, stating the investigation was still underway.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the three military personnel in the helicopter included a young captain, a staff sergeant and a chief warrant officer.
Bodies pulled from the Potomac River
At least 28 bodies have been pulled from the Potomac River after what is believed to be the worst American aviation disaster in nearly a quarter of a century.
The plane, which carried 60 passengers and four crew, was found upside-down in three sections in waist-deep water, and first responders were searching an area of the Potomac River as far south as the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, roughly five kilometres south of the airport, Mr Donnelly said.
The helicopter wreckage was also found.
If no one survived, the collision would be the deadliest US air ****** since 2001.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the collision, but officials said flight conditions were clear as the jet arrived from Wichita, Kansas, with US and Russian figure skaters and others aboard. It was preparing for a routine landing at the time of the collision.
“On final approach into Reagan National, it collided with a military aircraft on an otherwise normal approach,” American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said.
“At this time, we don’t know why the military aircraft came into the path of the … aircraft.”
Images from the river showed boats around the partly submerged wing and the mangled wreckage of the plane’s fuselage.
Inside Reagan National Airport, the mood was sombre Thursday morning as stranded passengers waited for flights to resume, sidestepping camera crews and staring out the terminal’s windows at the Potomac, where recovery efforts were barely visible in the distance.
Investigators will try to piece together the aircraft’s final moments before the collision, including its contact with air traffic controllers.
“I would just say that everyone who flies in American skies expects that we fly safely,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.
“That when you depart an airport, you get to your destination. That didn’t happen last night, and I know that President Trump, his administration, the FAA, the DOT, we will not rest until we have answers for the families and for the flying public. You should be assured that when you fly, you’re safe.”
Authorities have “early indicators” of what went wrong
The night was clear, the plane and helicopter were both in standard flight patterns and there was standard communication between the aircraft and the tower, Mr Duffy said.
“We have early indicators of what happened here,” Mr Duffy said, though he declined to elaborate pending an investigation.
It is not unusual to have a military aircraft flying the river and an aircraft landing at the airport, he said.
Asked if the plane was aware that there was a helicopter in the area, Mr Duffy said the helicopter was aware that there was a plane in the area.
Asked about Mr Trump suggesting in an overnight social media post that the collision could have been prevented, Mr Duffy said: “From what I’ve seen so far, do I think this was preventable? Absolutely.”
If everyone aboard the plane was killed, it would be the deadliest US airline ****** since November 12, 2001, when an American Airlines flight crashed into a residential area of Belle Harbor, New York, just after take off from Kennedy Airport, killing all 260 people aboard.

The Video Game History Foundation’s online library is now open
The Video Game History Foundation has unveiled its , a massive undertaking that makes the organization’s own materials as well as some private collections available for anyone to read. This project was first in December 2023, and the collection is still in early access. The VGHF it would continually be working to digitize and add more content to the library.
Even though this will be an ongoing endeavor, there is already a whole lot to check out. The library includes out-of-print publications like Electronic Gaming Monthly and Nintendo Power alongside industry trade magazines, which casual players might never have the chance to read otherwise. There are also materials from behind the scenes of game development, such as video recordings of developer Cyan’s work on the landmark game Myst and interviews with the team. You can also find press kits, promotional materials and all sorts of other ephemera. Everything is free to browse, just like a regular public library.
In short, this is amazingly cool for gaming nerds.

Three New Bakeries for the Flakiest Croissants
Three New Bakeries for the Flakiest Croissants
We are in the midst of a bakery renaissance. But what does that even mean? To me, it’s not just about the astounding number of bakeries that have opened in the last five years but also the quality of the baked goods they offer, goods that were once cloistered in the kitchens of very nice restaurants or a handful of lucky cities. And New York is certainly one of the luckiest. Where else could three new bakeries open within weeks, each offering something new and exciting? Only in New York!
By the way, we’re experimenting with a new format for the newsletter and we’d love your feedback. Send us an email at *****@*****.tld.
Elbow Bread
The long and short: After years working at restaurants like Sadelle’s, Milk Bar, Simon and the Whale and sold-out pop-ups, the pastry chef Zoe Kanan finally opened her own bakery in late October. Elbow Bread is a collaboration with Court Street Grocers in a tiny but lovely corner spot in Chinatown that she calls a “New York Jewish bakery.”
What to get: The pillowy, potato-y knish accented with dill ($7), cranberry ginger coffee cake ($6, gluten-free!), the challah croissant ($6), the squishy sweet potato pretzel ($7), two dark chocolate rugelach for the road ($5) and the miraculously vegan garlic bread bialy ($6), a January special that belongs on the permanent menu.
What to skip: The other bialy options (plain and everything) because they simply pale in comparison to the vegan version.
A word of advice: If you’ve been put in charge of bringing the challah to Shabbat (or just really like challah), braided loaves go on ***** every Friday at 9 a.m. There’s even a sweetened mini challah glazed with honey and vanilla. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
1 Ludlow Street (Division Street)
The long and short: Miolin Bakery is a super stylish bakery in South Slope founded by a former pastry chef and his partner after they began baking sourdough in their apartment during the pandemic.
What to get: The airy, expertly made croissants ($5 to $6) that could definitely compete at the international level. They’re the size of an infant’s head and shatter into crispy flakes with every bite; flavors include strawberry, chocolate, chocolate-hazelnut and plain. Miolin also sells baguettes ($6) that are as beautiful as they are plush and airy. Add some softened European butter and you’re set for dinner.
What to skip: The latticed ham-and-cheese croissant ($8), which is probably delicious straight out of the oven but didn’t deliver after a few hours on display.
A word of advice: The spacious and sunny bakery is a perfect excuse to linger over your croissant and coffee. Take some granola to go. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
422 Seventh Avenue (14th Street)
The long and short: Welcome Home was opened by two friends (and former employees of L’Appartement 4F, another pandemic-era success story) who decided to strike out on their own. The result is a cute corner bakery with a green exterior in Bed-Stuy.
What to get: The pig in a Bed (Stuy), a clever play on words and an absolutely delicious combination of Paisano’s ground pork seasoned with fennel, maple syrup and cayenne, spread inside a lattice-work croissant ($6.50). The gently spiced morning glory muffin flecked with carrots ($5). For dessert-breakfast, the cinnamon roll with a thick glaze of frosting. Grab one of their three sourdough loaf options ($10 to $12.50) for the road.
What to skip: Weekend lines. Get there early or visit on a weekday (it’s a few measly blocks from the G train). No more lines in 2025!
A word of advice: Coffee options are limited to drip and cold brew, so grab your latte elsewhere. (I recommend Stonefruit Espresso + Kitchen one block away.) Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
1047 Bedford Avenue (Greene Avenue)
One Reader Question
I recently tried steak tartare for the first time at a friend’s wedding. WOW! Where should I go in New York City for tartare? — Clara
You’ve joined a rarefied group, Clara. Only the brave and true dare to consume beef in this manner and we are the richer for it. A couple options: Cozy Royale’s version with cornichon, shallots and sourdough bread ($17); and, if you want to up the ante, there’s a freaky kangaroo tartare at Foxface Natural that costs $29 because Australia is far away. And the golden rule: You’ll find steak tartare on the menu at most French restaurants.

Olympian Nancy Kerrigan Breaks Down in Tears on Live TV at Boston Skating Club Where 6 ****** Victims Belonged
Olympian Nancy Kerrigan gave a heartbreaking interview at her former Boston skating club, where six of the victims in the deadly American Airlines plane ****** belonged.
Kerrigan, 55, an alumni of the club, broke down in tears as she spoke to reporters outside the Skating Club of Boston on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 30, saying she’s “not sure how to process” the devastating loss.
“I just wanted to be here and be part of our community,” Kerrigan said as she stood alongside the club’s representatives as they mourned members of their community.
Skating Club of Boston CEO Doug Zeghibe said Thursday that skaters Jinna Han and Spencer Lane were among those killed, along with 1994 pairs World Champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov. Shishkova and Naumov are also married and have a 23-year-old son, Maxim, who also skates at the club but was not on the flight.
In all, 14 of the victims were coming back from a national development camp for promising young skaters following the U.S. Championships in Wichita, Kan., Zeghibe said.

Kerrigan said she had been awake throughout the night watching the coverage. “And then when you find out you know some of the people on the plane, it’s an even ******* blow,” she said. “We just wish them well, the families, the courage and the strength to make the next steps.”
The former Olympian went on to offer some words of support, saying, “We’ve been through tragedies before as Americans, as people, and we are strong, and I guess it’s how we respond to it.”
“Even when it’s hard, you get back up. It’s not easy, but that’s what we have to do together.”
Kerrigan said her response to the tragedy was to go to the skating club “and be with people I care about and love.”
“I feel for the athletes, their families, but anyone who was on that plane, not just the skaters because its just such a tragic event,” Kerrigan said.

Leapmotor could fix one of its most annoying features
Leapmotor could fix one of its most annoying features
China’s Leapmotor has only recently launched in Australia, but it’s already looking at ways to improve its vehicles.
Like many new models that have a five-star ANCAP safety rating based on the latest scoring protocol, the Leapmotor C10 mid-sized electric SUV has a driver attention monitor that alerts the driver when the car thinks you’re distracted or not looking at the road ahead.
As we found during the *********** media launch drive of the Leapmotor C10, however, the driver attention monitor chimes a lot, and struggles to detect your eyes if you’re wearing sunglasses. The system also defaults to on every time you drive the car.
The shrill driver attention monitoring sounds are also mixed with different chimes for the intelligent speed limit assist and lane-keep assist functions.

Speaking with CarExpert, the head of Leapmotor Australia, Andy Hoang, said the company is exploring changes to the car’s alert sounds in an attempt to improve the customer experience.
“Leapmotor at its core is a software company, so everything’s on the table for how do we improve the experience,” said Mr Hoang.
“And there’s been quite a few things we’re working through at the moment just to continually provide that better experience.
“Sound is one of the things that… we’re investigating.”
Leapmotor has already confirmed there’s an over-the-air software update coming for the C10 that will bring apps like TikTok to its infotainment system. It’ll only be available to use when stationary.

A number of other apps and other software tweaks are expected to come with future software updates.
However, one feature that won’t come to the C10 with a software update is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as the car’s LEAP 3.0 architecture can’t support it.
Leapmotor has said the C10 won’t get smartphone mirroring functionality until a mid-life update or a new-generation model, when the car’s architecture is changed to the LEAP 3.5 platform. A timeframe for this hasn’t been provided yet.
Existing C10s won’t be able to be retrofitted with the updated software tech either.

Leapmotor is a young company, founded in China in 2015. It exclusively offers EVs and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), the latter of which also incorporate a combustion engine to charge their high-voltage battery.
In October 2023, automotive conglomerate Stellantis – which owns Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, Maserati and Fiat, among others – announced it would invest €1.5 billion (A$2.5 billion) in Leapmotor, purchasing about 21 per cent of the ******** carmaker.
It obtained a controlling 51 per cent stake in Leapmotor International, a joint venture between the two carmakers that is now exporting vehicles to markets including Europe and Australia, where they are sold alongside brands including Jeep.
Although the C10 EV is the only model Leapmotor currently offers in Australia, the C10 REEV (Range Extender Electric Vehicle) is due in the first half of 2025, and the B10 small electric SUV is due on ***** here later this year.

Trump was challenged after blaming DEI for the DC plane ******. Here’s what he said
Trump was challenged after blaming DEI for the DC plane ******. Here’s what he said
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump began his White House briefing Thursday with a moment of silence and a prayer for victims of Wednesday’s ****** at Reagan National Airport. But his remarks quickly became a diatribe against diversity hiring and his allegation — so far without evidence — that lowered standards were to blame for the ******.
Trump on Thursday variously pointed the finger at the helicopter’s pilot, air traffic control, his predecessor, Joe Biden, and other Democrats including former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, whom he labeled a “disaster.” Buttigieg responded by calling Trump “despicable.”
The cause of the ****** is still unknown. Authorities are investigating and have not publicly identified the cause or said who might have been responsible for the collision of an American Airlines plane and a U.S. Army helicopter.
Reporters on Thursday challenged Trump’s claims. Here’s a look at how Trump responded to some of their questions.
Placing blame on diversity hiring
Trump was asked repeatedly to explain why he was blaming federal diversity and inclusion promotion efforts for the ******, at one point alleging that previous leadership had determined that the Federal Aviation Administration workforce was “too white.” He did not back up those claims, while also declaring it was still not clear the FAA or air traffic controllers were responsible for the ******.
Q: “Are you saying this ****** was somehow caused as the result of diversity hiring? And what evidence have you seen to support these claims?”
TRUMP: “It just could have been. We have a high standard. We’ve had a much higher standard than anybody else. And there are things where you have to go by brainpower. You have to go by psychological quality, and psychological quality is a very important element of it. These are various, very powerful tests that we put to use. And they were terminated by Biden. And Biden went by a standard that seeks the exact opposite. So we don’t know. But we do know that you had two planes at the same level. You had a helicopter and a plane. That shouldn’t have happened. And, we’ll see. We’re going to look into that, and we’re going to see. But certainly for an air traffic controller, we want the brightest, the smartest, the sharpest. We want somebody that’s psychologically superior. And that’s what we’re going to have.”
__
Q: “You have today blamed the diversity elements but then told us that you weren’t sure that the controllers made any mistake. You then said perhaps the helicopter pilots were the ones who made the mistake.”
TRUMP: “It’s all under investigation.”
Q: “I understand that. That’s why I’m trying to figure out how you can come to the conclusion right now that diversity had something to do with this ******.”
TRUMP: “Because I have common sense. OK? And unfortunately, a lot of people don’t. We want brilliant people doing this. This is a major chess game at the highest level. When you have 60 planes coming in during a short ******* of time, and they’re all coming in different directions, and you’re dealing with very high-level computer, computer work and very complex computers.”
__
Trump was challenged on his claim that the FAA under Democratic presidents had promoted the hiring of people with disabilities. The fact-checking website Snopes found that the policy Trump referenced has existed for a decade, including his first term.
Q: “The implication that this policy is new or that it stems from efforts that began under President Biden or the transportation secretary, Pete Buttigieg, is demonstrably false. It’s been on the FAA’s website —”
TRUMP: “Who said that, you?”
Q: “No, it’s on the website, the FAA’s website. It was there from 2013 … it was there for the entirety, it was there for the entirety of your administration, too. So my question is, why didn’t you change the policy during your first administration?”
TRUMP: “I did change it. I changed the Obama policy, and we had a very good policy. And then Biden came in and he changed it. And then when I came in two days, three days ago, I signed a new order, bringing it to the highest level of intelligence.”
Calling for fast confirmations
Trump agreed it was helpful to have Sean Duffy, his new transportation secretary, sworn and ready to respond when the major crisis hit.
Q: “Is it helpful to have your secretary of transportation confirmed and does this intensify your interest in getting other nominees confirmed quickly as well?”
TRUMP: “For sure, we want fast confirmations. And the Democrats, as you know, are doing everything they can to delay. They’ve taken too long. We’re struggling to get very good people that everybody knows are going to be confirmed. But we’re struggling to get them out faster. We want them out faster.”
Reassuring people it is safe to fly
Trump was asked if Americans should feel safe to fly after the ******.
According to the FAA, Trump is expected to fly to Palm Beach, Florida, where his Mar-a-Lago club is located, for the weekend on Friday.
Trump took another opportunity to criticize diversity hiring efforts for the ****** as he wrapped up the news briefing.
Q: “Should people be hesitant to fly right now?”
TRUMP: “No. Not at all. I would not hesitate to fly. This is something that it’s been many years that something like this has happened, and the collision is just something that, we don’t expect ever to happen again. We are going to have the highest-level people. We’ve already hired some of the people that you already hired for that position long before we knew about this. I mean, long before, from the time I came in, we started going out and getting the best people because I said ‘It’s not appropriate what they’re doing.’ I think it’s a tremendous mistake. You know? They like to do things, and they like to take them too far. And this is sometimes what ends up happening.
“Now with that, I’m not blaming the controller. I’m saying there are things that you could question, like the height of the helicopter, the height of the plane being at the same level and going the opposite direction. That’s not a positive. But, no, we’re already hiring people.
“Flying is very safe. We have the safest flying anywhere in the world, and we’ll keep it that way.”
