Samsung to Bring Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Motion Photo, Other Camera Features to Older Galaxy Models: Report
Samsung to Bring Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Motion Photo, Other Camera Features to Older Galaxy Models: Report
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra was launched as the top-of-the-line offering in the company’s flagship phone lineup earlier this month and it comes with hardware upgrades, especially in terms of the camera. However, some of the new camera-centric features, such as Motion Photo and 10-bit HDR video, might also trickle down to older Galaxy models, according to a report. These are expected to arrive on the company’s older devices with a One UI update.
New Camera Features on Older Galaxy Smartphones
According to a SamMobile report, Samsung’s One UI 7.1 update could introduce the aforementioned and more features of the Galaxy S25 Ultra on older models. This may include the 10 new filters including six film-style filters with a vintage aesthetic. Some of them are Soft, Sharp, Intense, Subtle, Warm, and Dark. Older Galaxy users will reportedly also be able to customise these filters with colour temperature, contrast, and saturation. There are AI-based custom filters too which are tailored to match the environments in photos.
Samsung is also reported to introduce LOG format for video recording, keeping up with Apple. It may support video recording up to 8L 30fps, enabling the use of 3D LUT applications for accurate colour grading. The Galaxy S25 Ultra introduces 10-bit HDR video which is expected to be soon available on older Galaxy devices. It is said to have options for both compatibility and detailed visuals with Hybrid Log Gamma and HDR10+, respectively.
The phones are also reported to support virtual aperture control, offering professional-grade depth-of-field adjustments from F1.4 to F16. The company offers in-built 2048 and 4096 digital ND filters on the Galaxy S25 Ultra which could also make their way to older Galaxy models.
Similar to Apple’s Live Photos, Samsung introduced Motion Photo which not only captures the moment, but also 1.5-second snippets of before and after hitting the shutter. Meanwhile, the new Single Take with Time Machine tool captures 5 seconds of footage before the recording starts and also enables users to capture 12-megapixel still photos while recording footage. These features are reported to be rolled out to older Galaxy devices too.

Konstas comes down with stomach bug in first Test
Konstas comes down with stomach bug in first Test
Axed opener Sam Konstas has come down with a stomach bug and will stay at the *********** team hotel for a second consecutive day of the Test series opener against Sri Lanka.
After being dropped from the XI to make way for Travis Head’s move to the top of the order, teenage star Konstas reported a severe headache on Thursday.
His illness meant he remained at the team’s beachside hotel in Galle on Friday’s third day of play, isolated from teammates and monitored by the *********** team’s doctor.
Australia are confident Konstas’ illness is not serious.
He posted to Instagram to congratulate No.5 Josh Inglis, who took his spot in the XI, on making a century on Test debut on day two.
Australia had been impressed by Konstas’s response to being dropped for the series opener despite helping secure a series win over India in his first two Tests.
“There’s a lot to like and be impressed about Sam,” selector Tony Dodemaide said earlier this week.
“One of the things is his ability to take things in his stride. It’s remarkable really, whether it’s playing in front of 90,000 and Jasprit Bumrah at the MCG or getting told that you’re left out of the Test.
“He was like, ‘Oh yeah, mate, no stress. I get it’.”
With 19-year-old Konstas unavailable, Australia called on Nathan McSweeney as a substitute fielder when Sri Lanka made it to the crease late on day two.
Filling in for sore double-centurion Usman Khawaja, McSweeney took a brilliant slips catch that helped consign Sri Lanka to 3-44 at stumps.
The dominant Australians had declared at 6-654 just after 4pm local time on Thursday.

E-citations to begin in Lubbock, here’s what that is and what to expect
E-citations to begin in Lubbock, here’s what that is and what to expect
Drivers around Lubbock will see police doing something new starting this weekend, as the Lubbock Police Department incorporates a new technology for ticketing.
Starting Saturday, LPD officers will begin using Brazos Mobile Enforcement, a mobile application to create e-citations, according to a news release from LPD. Using city-issued cell phones, officers will use the app to scan or swipe the magnetic strip or barcode of people’s driver’s licenses, along with the VIN and vehicle registration barcodes. With this, officers will have mobile printers in their vehicles so they can give physical copies.
The app is through Tyler Technologies, a software company that has a history of experience in the public services sectors.
The Lubbock Police Department logo is seen during a ribbon cutting for their new headquarters, as seen on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
The Lubbock City Council approved the app usage in May 2024, which expanded an ongoing contract with Tyler Technologies.

Politics Was on the Agenda at City Hall. Dating Waited.
In August 2023, after graduation, Ms. Barash moved into Mr. Schwartz’s studio, and that fall they got a ******* place in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
Until December 2024, Ms. Barash, 35, was the chief of staff to the chief operating officer at New York City Housing Authority, and is to begin working on Feb. 10 as a senior director of strategy and program management at Enterprise Community Partners, an affordable housing nonprofit organization in Manhattan.
In March, Mr. Schwartz got down on one knee at Shabbat dinner after recreating a chicken scarpariello dish, which they had at La Palina in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, on Valentine’s Day (a major feat for someone who’s usually on dishwashing duty).
On Jan. 17, ****** Matt Green, the associate ****** at Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope, Brooklyn, officiated at a brief legal ceremony in the Governor’s Room at City Hall.
“It felt great to go back to the place we first met, and fell in love,” she said.

As the couple walked down the aisle, friends, including the musicians R.O. Shapiro and the bride’s bandmate, performed Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Let Me Roll It,” featured in “Licorice Pizza.”

Tesla and ******** Carmakers Could Reap Billions From EU Emissions Rules
Tesla and ******** Carmakers Could Reap Billions From EU Emissions Rules
As European automakers brace for a possible trade war waged by President Trump, they are working to ward off another threat on their home turf: the prospect of paying hundreds of millions of dollars to Tesla and ******** competitors muscling in on their core markets.
Under stricter European Union regulations taking effect this year, automakers selling cars in Europe face hefty penalties if their vehicle production fails to meet tough targets for reducing carbon emissions. With demand for electric cars in Europe slumping and manufacturers squeezed by competition from China, automakers, politicians and industry groups are lobbying for relief.
After an industry summit in Brussels Thursday, Ursula Von Der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, the European Union’s executive branch, acknowledged the challenges that the auto industry faced and pledged that regulators were “acting swiftly” to address them.
Under the rules, carmakers can meet their targets by increasing the number of zero-emissions cars they produce or reducing their output of vehicles with combustion engines.
There is another option: They can buy emissions credits by “pooling” with companies that make only electric cars and have an abundance of credits. In a twist of fate, that has the European carmakers turning to some of their biggest rivals, including Tesla and Geely of China, which owns Volvo Cars and has a controlling stake in the electric vehicle maker Polestar.
The strategy of buying emissions credits is not new, but it has recently set off alarms in France and Germany, home to Europe’s biggest automakers, because it comes when demand for electric cars is softening, leading to threats of factory closures and the loss of thousands of jobs. Adding to the concerns in Europe is Elon Musk, the chief executive of Tesla, who has criticized E.U. tariffs on electric vehicles made in China and has been accused of interfering in politics in Britain and Germany.
“A rigid stance that would result in billions transferred to ******** manufacturers, some of whom have conquered their European market share through unfair trade practices, or to Tesla, whose C.E.O. Elon Musk is openly attacking European regulations and values, would be a political error,” France’s minister for European affairs, Benjamin Haddad, wrote in an open letter published in French newspapers this week.
The E.U. measures also require at least a quarter of all new cars produced this year to be electric. Most of Europe’s big carmakers including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Stellantis are nowhere near hitting their targets. They produce more electric vehicles than ever before, but they also continue to crank out gas-fueled cars and trucks to meet customer demand.
When Europe first started tightening emissions rules in 2021, Stellantis, formed from the merger of PSA Group and Fiat Chrysler, purchased around $2 billion in emission credits from Tesla from 2019 to 2021.
Still, that’s less than the potential penalties. Luca de Meo, chief executive of Renault, estimated that paying fines could cost the industry more than $15 billion, and Volkswagen said in an analyst call earlier this week that they could face fines as high as $1.6 billion.
According to an analysis by the Swiss bank UBS, Tesla’s compensation could exceed $1 billion under the pooling scheme. Carbon credits have been a boon to Tesla’s cash flow: The company earned $1.79 billion from such sales in 2023.
Last year, Tesla’s income from selling emissions credits in Europe, the United States and elsewhere more than doubled to $2.8 billion, the company reported.
European companies say that a thicket of rules are putting them at a growing disadvantage with the United States, where Mr. Trump has vowed to curb business regulations and rolled back auto pollution rules in his first term. His threats to impose tariffs could further squeeze European automakers.
Europe’s auto industry, which employs 13 million people across the 27-member bloc, is particularly vulnerable. Registrations of new electric cars in Europe dropped 6 percent in 2024, compared with the previous year, many of them from ******** manufacturers, who recorded a 45 percent increase in E.V. sales in Europe. Their share of the market is only expected to increase.
European auto executives are arguing that the projections made when Brussels approved the ambitious carbon-cutting project, known as the Green Deal, in 2020, it did not price in disruptions like supply chain interruptions caused by pandemic restrictions and the energy crisis provoked by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“The European Green Deal must be subject to a reality check and a realignment — to make it less rigid, more flexible and to turn the decarbonization of the automotive industry into a green and profitable business model,” Ola Källenius, the head of Mercedes-Benz and president of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, wrote in an open letter to European leaders.
Regulators insist that Europe stay the course to cut emissions by 55 percent by 2030, compared with 1990 levels. By 2035, production of new gas vehicles would be banned in Europe.

Adam Charles Lusk: Serial ******* jailed 28 years for drugging and raping 12 women, including three teenagers
Adam Lusk – the vile serial ******* who drugged and ****** multiple women including three teenage girls – has been handed 28 years behind bars, believed to be the second highest jail term for a WA *******.
In locking up the former *********** soldier, Judge Allan Troy described the 46-year-old’s offending as not only “calculated and predatory” but depraved, adding he had shown no mercy for his any of victims even when some had pleaded for him to stop.
Lusk drugged and/or ****** 12 women he met either socially or through dating apps such as Sugar Daddy Meets or Tinder over an almost two-year ******* between April 2020 and January 2022. Three of the victims were teenagers. And all but three were filmed.

At his trial last year, the father-of-two denied he spiked their drinks so he could carry out the sick acts — claiming what took place was consensual. He also claimed all were happy to be filmed.
But Judge Troy said it was clear from the footage that none of the women were conscious let alone consenting adding that he could not work out if the civil engineer was so “self-deluded that he truly believed the denials he gave in evidence”.
More to come.

Sniper Elite: Resistance Review – Take the Shot | MP1st
VGChartz’s Evan Norris: “Sniper Elite: Resistance is essentially Sniper Elite 5 with a new hero, new maps, and the novelty of Propaganda Missions. It retains the same intoxicating level of player agency, the same open-ended level design, the same flexible combat mechanics, and the same focus on replayability. There are a handful of minor flaws — the story is disposable, there aren’t nearly enough Survival maps, and the graphics engine shows its age in places — but in general the game delivers the goods, both for devotees of the series and for fans of stealth shooting games. Rebellion and Wushu Studios didn’t quite score a bullseye, but they hit the target with ease.”

Tuberville announces at RFK Jr. hearing that his granddaughter won’t get vaccinated.
Tuberville announces at RFK Jr. hearing that his granddaughter won’t get vaccinated.
Sen. Tommy Tuberville on Thursday boasted that his soon-to-be-born granddaughter will not be vaccinated.
“I’m having my first granddaughter here in a couple weeks, and my son and his wife have done their research about vaccines and she’s not going to be a pincushion. We’re not going to allow that to happen,” the Alabama Democrat said to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee.
Tuberville made the remarks as he complained about vaccine development in recent years. Vaccine skeptics, such as RFK Jr., have falsely claimed that vaccines are not safe for children. Kennedy in the past has criticized the COVID-19, polio, and measles vaccines, and pushed a campaign that falsely suggests vaccines cause autism.
During his first confirmation hearing before the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday, Kennedy backtracked his vaccine criticism. He asserted he does not plan to take away vaccines from Americans who want them, instead saying he merely wants to release data on the vaccines’ safety to the public, even though such data is already available to the public.

Significant snow, rain headed to Boise region
Significant snow, rain headed to Boise region
Boise’s dry spell is about to end.
Back-to-back weather systems heading straight for the Treasure Valley this week are expected to bring rain and snow to the Boise area beginning Friday.
Precipitation amounts were hard to predict Thursday, but the most updated forecast shows 0.43 inches landing in Boise over the weekend. It’s a significant amount for the city, which gets an average of 1.24 inches of precipitation in February.
“We have model guidance anywhere from a trace of snow tomorrow to perhaps an inch and a half here,” Stephen Parker, National Weather Service meteorologist, told the Idaho Statesman. “We’re trying to figure out which way that’s going to go.”
The mountains, on the other hand? They’re “going to get hammered,” Parker said. He said Bogus Basin was predicted to get 12 to 18 inches.
A low-pressure system will move inland from the Washington coast late this week. It will quickly be followed by a second system coming in from the central Pacific Ocean, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Jackson Macfarlane.
The two systems will combine to bring a heavy flow of moisture, known as an “atmospheric river,” to Idaho.
“It’s a long stream of a lot of moisture coming up from the tropics into our area at this time of year in the winter,” Macfarlane said. “That large amount of moisture is going to be enhanced by the terrain. It is a lot of moisture with favorable dynamics, producing a ton of precipitation.”
The atmospheric river will finally push away the long-hanging inversion over Boise, which has kept a layer of cold air trapped in the Treasure Valley, according to the National Weather Service.
Because of the preexisting inversion and associated cold temperatures, the first wave of moisture to move into Boise on Friday will likely fall as snow between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to Parker.
Macfarlane said the snow that falls Friday will not melt immediately because of the cold temperatures caused by the inversion. However, temperatures will rise above freezing as the weather systems continue to move through and the inversion clears out, turning the snow to rain on Saturday night. Additional rounds of rain are expected to fall Sunday morning and afternoon, Parker said.
Highs will be between 39 and 46 degrees over the weekend.
Macfarlane predicted McCall would get about 13 inches of snow and Brundage Mountain about 20 inches. Areas above 8,000 feet, like Banner Summit, could see up to 3 feet.
The heaviest ******* of precipitation is expected to occur Sunday. However, the Weather Service forecasts the wet weather to continue into next week and possibly even longer.
“We’re locked in this weather pattern through early next week, at least through Wednesday,” Macfarlane said. “There’s going to be noticeable breaks, but it’s going to be wet for a while.”

Rupee hits record low amid worries about US tariffs; RBI likely steps in
Rupee hits record low amid worries about US tariffs; RBI likely steps in
MUMBAI (Reuters) – The Indian rupee slipped to an all-time low on Friday as the threat of U.S. trade tariffs under President Donald Trump weighed on most regional currencies while the Reserve Bank of India likely stepped in to support the local unit, traders said.
The rupee dipped to 86.65 per dollar, eclipsing its previous record low of 86.6475 hit earlier in the month.
The dollar index was at 108.1 while most Asian currencies declined after Trump said he is planning to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Saturday and is also considering fresh levies on China.
State-run banks were spotted offering dollars, most likely on behalf of the RBI, which helped limit the rupee’s losses, four traders said.
In addition to the risk from Trump’s likely tariff policies, the rupee has also been weighed down by persistent foreign portfolio outflows.
Foreign investors have net sold nearly $9 billion of local stocks and bonds over January so far.
