De Rothschild left bank after ******* misconduct claim
The famous financier Sir Evelyn de Rothschild left the bank which bears his family name after an investigation into ******* misconduct in 2003, it has emerged.
De Rothschild, who died two years ago, was a leading figure in British banking, and financial adviser to Queen Elizabeth.
The details were published in an internal memo circulated in response to a Guardian article accusing him of ******* assault and harassment against women working in the bank in the 1990s.
The memo said it found “no evidence” to support those allegations.
A spokesman for the bank said it “does not tolerate and never will tolerate behaviour of this nature.”
The memo, first published by the Daily Telegraph, said: “We discovered a single complaint of ******* misconduct in late 2003.”
“This case was investigated immediately, dealt with appropriately, with full support for the colleague concerned, and led to Sir Evelyn de Rothschild leaving the group in March 2004.”
“We have found no record of any other complaint relating to Sir Evelyn,” the memo added.
The Guardian report said that at least eight sources had alleged that Sir Evelyn used his position at the bank to abuse women who worked with him.
The women felt unable to raise their concerns at the time because of Sir Evelyn’s position at the bank and in society, the article said.
As well as his role advising the Queen, Sir Evelyn occupied a prominent position in British life, and was chairman of the Economist and on the board of the company which owned the Daily Telegraph.
He spent more than 40 years at the family firm, including 28 years as chair of NM Rothschild, the group’s ***-based investment bank.
He was knighted in 1989.

Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper’s security detail revoked
Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper’s security detail revoked
The security detail for former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, which was provided by the Defense Department, was revoked Tuesday night, a U.S. official and a Defense Department official told CBS News.
The Defense Department has not yet responded to a request for comment.
File: Secretary of Defense Mark Esper testifies before the House Armed Services Committee hearing on ‘Department of Defense Authorities and Roles Related to Civilian Law Enforcement’, July 9, 2020 on Capitol Hill.

Esper is one of the former officials from President Trump’s first administration who has received threats from Iran over the 2020 U.S. killing of Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Quds Force.
Esper is the latest official from Trump’s first administration to lose government-provided security. Security details for former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, his aide Brian Hook and former national security adviser John Bolton were also recently removed.
Last month, when asked by a reporter about the administration dismissing the security details, Mr. Trump replied, “When you have protection, you can’t have it for the rest of your life.”
He added, “I mean, there’s risks to everything.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio approved the removal of the diplomatic security detail from both Pompeo and Hook. Bolton was protected by the Secret Service.
The Defense Department removed former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley’s detail on Jan. 28 and revoked his security clearance. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also requested the Defense Department inspector general conduct a review into Milley’s conduct during the first Trump administration to determine whether Milley should be stripped of a star.
On Inauguration Day, Milley’s official portrait as Joint Chiefs chairman was removed from the walls of the Pentagon.
Several days later, Esper’s portrait as secretary of the Army and Milley’s portrait as chief of the staff of the Army were also removed.

Women with endometriosis earn less, research shows
Women with endometriosis earn less, research shows
Catherine Snowdon
BBC News

Unique national research for England has demonstrated the “significant” impact the gynaecological condition endometriosis has had on women’s ability to earn and work.
Researchers suggest that following diagnosis, women may be taking lower-paid jobs or working fewer hours.
The charity Endometriosis *** called on workplaces to provide “support, understanding and reasonable adjustments for endometriosis” in order to “retain talented employees”.
A government spokesperson said they were “committed to delivering the healthcare women need, when they need it, so that everyone can lead healthy, productive lives”.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has for the first time looked at the impact endometriosis has on labour market outcomes in England.
Endometriosis is where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside it, sometimes causing debilitating symptoms. The disease can cause women to leave, or change, their jobs.
By studying anonymised official medical and payroll data of more than 55,000 women, a decrease in monthly earnings was found among those aged between 25 and 54 in England, after they received a diagnosis of endometriosis in an NHS hospital.
Among those in paid work, there was an average decrease of £56 per month in the four to five years post-diagnosis, compared with the two-year ******* before learning of their condition.
The research also found the probability of being a paid employee “significantly decreased” after an endometriosis diagnosis, going down by 2.7 percentage points four to five years after diagnosis.
Emily Jones
Emily Jones changed jobs after being diagnosed with endometriosis
Emily Jones was 11 when she first felt her endometriosis symptoms. She experienced extremely painful periods that caused her to vomit and faint.
She was not diagnosed until she was 31, by which time she was working as a chef and was operated on to try to tackle the condition. After being signed off work for two weeks, she returned and knew the job was not sustainable.
“It’s a male-dominated sector and the understanding just wasn’t there. I couldn’t leave shifts early when my symptoms were bad – there was no-one to cover me.”
Emily resigned and made ends meet taking freelance work so that she could pick her hours.
Emily is far from alone in having to adapt her working life to her condition. The research by the ONS, which is the first population-wide analysis ever carried out in England, suggests many women experience similar situations.
Isobel Ward, who led the work at the ONS, said their findings may indicate that following diagnosis “women may be reducing their work hours, moving to lower-paid jobs, becoming self-employed or receiving benefits”.
Endometriosis *** estimates that one in six women with the condition have to leave the workplace.
Emma Cox, chief executive of the charity, said: “Those with endometriosis symptoms shouldn’t have to worry about losing their job, having to change career or feel restricted in the types of work they can do.
“We need employers to understand endometriosis, and overcome myths and embarrassment about periods and menstrual health, and support their employees.”
Ms Cox added that doing so would enable them to “retain talented employees”.
All change
Emily has forged a career in communications, but now – at the age of 44 – says her condition is worsening, and she has had to shift gears in her career.
“I no longer manage a team of people. I’m earning a third less than I was before, I’ve had to sell my house and move to a cheaper area in order to free up some money to pay my bills.”
She says the impact of her endometriosis on her working life has been all-encompassing: “On bad days it’s difficult to just get through the basics of my job. You beat yourself up for not being able to do your best, it’s not good for my mental health.”
Ms Cox highlighted the need for faster NHS diagnosis and access to treatments for women, something the government is working to achieve.
A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said: “This government is committed to delivering the healthcare women need, when they need it, so that everyone can lead healthy, productive lives.
“Our elective reform plan sets out how the NHS will meet the 18-week waiting time target, meaning earlier diagnoses and treatment for gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis.”
The ONS research is part of a series of work, funded by the Treasury, for it to explore certain healthcare interventions and diagnoses on earnings and employment status. Other conditions investigated, or due to be looked at, include bariatric surgery, talking therapies and diabetes prevention.

Malawi orders its troops to withdraw from DR Congo
Malawi orders its troops to withdraw from DR Congo
Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera has ordered defence forces to begin preparations for a withdrawal of its troops from eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a statement says.
The Malawian troops are part of a contingent of soldiers from a southern African regional bloc deployed in DR Congo to help it tackle armed insurgents.
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) extended the military mission late last year.
“President Chakwera has ordered the MDF (Malawi Defence Force) commander to begin preparations for the withdrawal of Malawian troops … to honour the declaration of a ceasefire by the warring parties there and to pave way for their planned negotiations towards a lasting peace,” the statement said.
A rebel alliance, which includes M23 fighters, has declared a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons starting on Tuesday.
But M23 rebels seized control of the town of Nyabibwe in DR Congo’s South Kivu province, eight sources said on Wednesday – in an apparent violation of a unilateral ceasefire they declared this week.
The capture of Nyabibwe, 70km north of the provincial capital Bukavu, takes them a step closer to the city they said they had no intention of capturing after their advance southwards appeared to stall late last week.
Eight people including local officials, a civil society representative, rebels and an international security source, confirmed Nyabibwe had fallen to the rebels.
“There have been clashes since 5am, and it was at 9am that the town fell into the hands of the rebels. They’re in the centre of the town at the moment,” said a civil society leader, who like the other sources spoke on condition of anonymity.
DR Congo’s Communications Minister Patrick Muyaya told Reuters rebels had violated the ceasefire at night and were facing resistance from the armed forces around Nyabibwe.
A M23 spokesperson did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
This advance could indicate a renewed push towards Bukavu that the M23 first launched after they seized Goma last week.
The capture of eastern DR Congo’s largest city has displaced hundreds of thousands of people and fanned fears of a wider regional war.
DR Congo accuses Rwanda of using the M23 to pillage valuable deposits of gold, coltan, tin and other minerals.
Rwanda says it is acting in self-defence and to protect ethnic Tutsis.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said its medical warehouse in Goma had been looted between January 28 and 29 and that it would take months and require large investments to rebuild it.
“To continue caring for the wounded while we wait for our stocks to be replenished, we are being helped by other humanitarian actors in Goma,” the ICRC said in a statement.
In the capital Kinshasa, MPs were discussing possible solutions to the conflict ahead of a summit with eastern and southern African leaders in Tanzania this weekend, a politician from the presidential coalition told Reuters.
“President Tshisekedi has referred to parliament to get the proposals of elected representatives, which we assume come from the people … He wants to go into the matter with greater legitimacy,” the MP said.
MP from the National Assembly worked until early morning, two parliamentary sources told Reuters.
One of them said the extraordinary session should close on Wednesday afternoon.
A diplomatic source said one of the areas of dispute with Rwanda was the presence of troops sent by the 16-member SADC.
The regional bloc, which is helping the DR Congolese government fight rebel groups, extended its military mission late last year.
“Rwanda wants the SamiDRC (Mission to the Democratic Republic of Congo) to leave, Congo wants it to be strengthened. This creates tensions between the countries of east and southern Africa,” the diplomat said.

Trump adviser defends Gaza plan, says it will “bring the entire region” to reach its own solution
Trump adviser defends Gaza plan, says it will “bring the entire region” to reach its own solution
Washington — Mike Waltz, President Trump’s national security adviser, on Wednesday defended the president’s suggestion that the U.S. would take over Gaza, saying it would “bring the entire region to come with their own solutions.”
“The fact that nobody has a realistic solution, and he puts some very bold, fresh, new ideas out on the table, I don’t think should be criticized in any way,” Waltz said on “CBS Mornings.”
During a joint press conference Tuesday night with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mr. Trump outlined a new vision for Gaza, saying the U.S. would “take over the Gaza Strip” and “own it,” while suggesting he could make the region “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
Mr. Trump did not offer any details on whether this idea was something his administration had been working on and how it would be implemented.
Waltz defended the plan, saying Mr. Trump is “not seeing any realistic solutions” about how to make conditions livable in Gaza.
“That’s what we saw, and I think that is just living in the common sense, practical reality of this awful situation that’s going on in Gaza, and has been going on for quite some time,” Waltz said.
Waltz added that the U.S. has a “shared vision” with the Israeli government that “****** cannot stay there,” saying “we would not allow ISIS to continue to attack us on our border.”
“We would not allow another 9/11,” he said. “The Israeli government and people deserve to never have another Oct. 7,” referring to the 2023 ****** terrorist attack on Israel that left about 1,200 dead and abducted roughly 250 others.
When asked about what the plan means for a two-state solution in the region, which the president has voiced support for in the past, Waltz argued that the president’s comments didn’t suggest an end to the idea, saying he “didn’t hear the President say it was the end of the two state solution.” Waltz noted that Mr. Trump said Palestinians may be among the people who would live in his rebuilt vision of Gaza.
“Those are the conversations that we’re having,” Waltz said. “The president is engaging with our key allies in the region and asking for their input, asking for their ideas, and is personally engaged on this issue.”
Mr. Trump’s proposal has sent diplomatic shockwaves around the world, including from America’s diplomatic partners in the Middle East. Palestinians and Israelis also expressed shock over the move.
“We are shocked. We didn’t know about it, but it was clearly not a move pulled from the hip,” Ronen Neutra, the father of Israeli soldier Omer Neutra, who was killed in the Oct. 7 terrorist attack, told CBS News.
Netanyahu is in Washington this week as a fragile ceasefire between Israel and ****** remains in place, which was negotiated in the final days of the Biden administration. On Tuesday, Netanyahu praised Mr. Trump for having unconventional ideas.
“After the jaws drop, people scratch their heads and they say, ‘You know, he’s right,'” Netanyahu said.
****** attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killed about 1,200 and roughly 250 people were abducted, setting off the nearly 16-month Israeli assault on ******, which has killed more than 47,000 people, according to the ************ territory’s ******-run Ministry of Health.

Pro-Trump Arab American group changes its name after the president’s Gaza ‘Riviera’ comments
Pro-Trump Arab American group changes its name after the president’s Gaza ‘Riviera’ comments
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A group that played a key role in Donald Trump’s voter outreach to the Arab American community alongside his allies is rebranding itself after the president said that the U.S. would “take over” the Gaza Strip.
Bishara Bahbah, chairman of the group formerly known as Arab Americans for Trump, said during a phone interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday that the group would now be called Arab Americans for Peace.
The name change came after Trump held a Tuesday press conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House and proposed the U.S. take “ownership” in redeveloping the area into “the Riviera of the Middle East.”

See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories.
“The talk about what the president wants to do with Gaza, obviously we’re completely opposed to the idea of the transfer of Palestinians from anywhere in Historic Palestine,” Bahbah said. “And so we did not want to be behind the curve in terms of pushing for peace, because that has been our objective from the very beginning.”
Arab Americans for Trump helped lead voter outreach efforts for Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election in swing states such as Michigan and Arizona.
The group, independent from the Trump campaign, frequently facilitated meetings between Arab American community leaders and Trump’s allies, including Richard Grenell, now serving as Trump’s envoy for special missions, and Massad Boulos, the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany and now a senior adviser on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs.
In the 2024 election, Trump became the first Republican presidential candidate to win Dearborn, Michigan — home to the nation’s largest concentration of Arab Americans — since 2000 on his way to winning the state. Trump visited Dearborn on Nov. 1.
Bahbah said the group had been thinking about changing its name for “a while” and ultimately made the decision Tuesday. But Bahbah had said during a phone interview just prior to Trump’s Tuesday night press conference with Netanyahu that the group’s name was Arab Americans for Trump.
In a press release issued Wednesday by Arab Americans for Peace, the group said its members “appreciate the president’s offer to clean and rebuild Gaza” but “take issue with the president’s suggestion of taking over Gaza and removing its ************ inhabitants.”

The Hundred sales: Yorkshire become first team to sell entire franchise
Yorkshire have become the first team to sell their entire stake in a Hundred team.
The Sun Group, owners of Indian Premier League side Sunrisers Hyderabad, have paid just over £100m for a 100% stake in Northern Superchargers, who are based at Yorkshire’s home Headingley.
Superchargers are the sixth team to secure the investment, with the Sun Group the first to take full ownership of a franchise.
Last week Surrey negotiated a £60m price with the owners of Mumbai Indians for a 49% stake in the Oval Invincibles, while keeping the 51% given to them by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Warwickshire agreed a 49% ***** of Birmingham Phoenix to Birmingham City owners Knighthead Capital for £40m and Glamorgan sold the same stake in Welsh Fire to IT entrepreneur Sanjay Govil for £40m.
A price of £145m for 49% of Lord’s-based London Spirit was agreed between MCC and a Silicon Valley consortium led by Nikesh Arora, while Lancashire became the first county to sell part of their share when agreeing a deal for 70% of the Originals with the owners of Lucknow Super Giants for around £81m.
Nottinghamshire are also set to sell a 49% stake in Trent Rockets when the sales resume before the weekend.
Billionaire Greek shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis, who owns Nottingham Forest, was linked with a bid for the Rockets last year.
However, a source close to the bidding said Marinakis did not follow up on his initial interest in the Trent Bridge-based franchise.
Nottinghamshire have not publicly courted bids from the IPL, but at least one unnamed team are said to be interested.
Southern Brave are likely to go to the co-owners of Delhi Capitals after their buyout of hosts Hampshire.
The six sales so far come to a total of around £466m, the majority of which will be split among the 18 first-class counties, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and recreational game.
It means the value of the six teams in their entirety comes to around £740m.
Yorkshire’s ***** comes after chair Colin Graves said the club, which is owned by members, must become a private structure in order to survive a financial crisis.
It owes almost £15m to the Graves family trust.
All deals now enter an eight-week exclusivity ******* in order to finalise the partnerships.
The Sun Group also own Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the South African T20 league, the SA20.

Trump to ban transgender women from female sport
Trump to ban transgender women from female sport
President Donald Trump will issue an executive order to exclude transgender girls and women from female-designated sporting competitions and teams.
Republicans say Wednesday’s directive restores fairness, while critics say it tramples on the rights of a small ********* of athletes.
Trump will sign the executive order on Wednesday evening, directing the Department of Justice to ban transgender girls and women from participating in female school sports.
It comes under Trump’s interpretation of Title IX, a law against sex discrimination in federally funded education programs, a White House official said in a briefing. The order will call for “immediate enforcement” in schools nationwide.
The official said the Department of Education would lead investigations into schools to ensure compliance, but that work could shift to other agencies if the department is dismantled, as Trump has pledged to do.
The debate over transgender inclusion in sports has often centred on fairness, with opponents saying people who have gone through male puberty have physical advantages.
Transgender activists say there is no evidence to show that transgender women have an unfair advantage.
The issue has become a rallying cry for Republicans in the United States, though trans athletes account for a very small proportion of athletes at collegiate and high school level.
The order reverses the Biden administration’s interpretation of Title IX that it protects transgender people from discrimination on the basis of sex, which was vacated by a federal judge in 2024.
The ban fulfils a pledge Trump made during the 2024 presidential campaign, when pro-Trump television advertisements criticised the handful of transgender women and girls who compete in female sports.
More than 20 states have passed laws that ban transgender girls from participating in girls’ sports, some of which have faced legal challenges.

The announcement that these six games are no longer planned for release comes amid a wider change in strategy for Netflix Games. In 2024, Netflix closed one of its AAA studios, headed up by industry veterans including former Halo boss Joseph Staten. Netflix still has an internal game development studio, Netflix Games Studio, as well as wholly owned external teams such as Night School Studio, Boss Fight Entertainment, and Next Games.
During an earnings call recently, Netflix boss Gregory Peters said Netflix has “plenty more” planned in the video game space, with the aim of launching “******* and ******* games every year.” Peters acknowledged that Netflix was in the middle of an effort to “refine” its strategy for game launches, which might explain why the six games mentioned here are no longer being released on Netflix.
Going forward, Peters said Netflix will focus on “more narrative games” based on Netflix franchises, while at the same time launching “party and couch co-op games” for your TV delivered from the cloud. Netflix’s main offerings for games currently are on mobile, but the company has–for years now–worked on cloud streaming to beam games directly to your TV or computer.
“We think of this as a successor to family board-game night or an evolution of what the game show on TV used to be. So we’re excited about delivering some cool experiences in that space,” Peter said.

The Best Fallout Game Was Created by Todd Howard With Just Over 100 People
The Best Fallout Game Was Created by Todd Howard With Just Over 100 People
The Fallout video game series has successfully established itself as one of the best RPG video game series of all time. The series started with 1997’s Fallout, which was developed by ****** Isle Studios, which was a division of Interplay Entertainment. ****** Isle Studios developed the first two main entries, then the main series was carried forward by Bethesda Game Studios.
Fallout 4 was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 10, 2015 (Image via Bethesda Game Studios)
Bethesda created Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, that are undoubtedly two games that popularised the franchise among a wider audience. Many fans will agree that Fallout 4 is the best game of the franchise, but what makes it even more special is the fact that it was created with a relatively small team.
Fallout 4 was created with just over 100 people
Fallout 4‘s immersive setting, exceptional storytelling, and engaging combat are one of the few reasons behind the game’s success but it is hard to believe that a team of just over 100 people managed to create a game like this. On top of countless nominations, the game has received Game of the Year awards at the 19th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards and the 12th British Academy Games Awards.
In 2015, Todd Howard, the director and executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios, gave Tech Insider a phone interview and revealed that Fallout 4 was created by the same team that worked on Fallout 3,
It actually started right after ‘Fallout 3’ – Istvan Pely, the lead artist on ‘Fallout 3,’ he rolled right off of the DLC into ‘Fallout 4.’ The first thing he built was the power armor.
Bethesda was working on two games simultaneously in the early 2010s: Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Even today, Bethesda is working on the next installments of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls franchise at the same time. However, back then, it had a much smaller team.
What’s next for the Fallout video game series?
It’s been a decade since the release of the last Fallout game (Image via Bethesda Game Studios)
Fallout 4 was the last entry in the main series and it has been a decade since the release of a Fallout game. Instead of a game, Howard gave fans the same Fallout experience, just in the form of a TV series, which was released in 2024. The series was well-received by the fans. However, a game is an entirely different experience.
During his 2022 interview with IGN, Howard did give fans an update on the next Fallout game, but unfortunately, it wasn’t an exciting update. He said,
Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well.
Various news outlets have claimed that the next Elder Scrolls game will be released sometime during or after 2026, which means that Bethesda will not start working on the next Fallout game at least until 2026. If Elder Scrolls 6 gets delayed, it means that Fallout 5 will also get delayed, so fans should mentally prepare themselves that the game is still half a decade away.

What that charts say is next for the U.S. dollar and how that could help stocks
What that charts say is next for the U.S. dollar and how that could help stocks
The U.S. Dollar’s future path could have significant implications for U.S. equities. While many investors don’t trade the dollar or other currencies, we should all be paying attention to the foreign exchange markets. First, let’s assess the dollar’s current technical state. Here is a long-term, 20-year monthly chart of the ICE U.S. Dollar Index , which compares the greenback to a basket of other currencies. A few things stand out: First, the dollar has been attempting to break out from a multi-year trading range for just the third time in the last 20 years. The U.S. dollar’s marginal loss in January broke its modest three-month winning streak. So far, however, it remains above the two-year trading range that it broke out from in December 2024. The last two major pattern breakouts led to extreme overbought readings in the following months. While the dollar’s recent strength has been impressive, it is not yet comparable to what we saw in late 2014–2015 and 2022. It could eventually reach that level in the coming months, but for now, this breakout hasn’t exhibited the kind of intense and immediate extension seen in recent history. This suggests that the recent move above the $107 zone could be a false breakout. Many times, a false move in one direction leads to a sharp move in the opposite direction. If the breakout ultimately fails, it could set the stage for the next downturn instead. Since the start of 2022, there have been three distinct tops in the dollar: September 2022, September 2023, and April 2024—and potentially another in January 2025. This is significant because USD tops preceded key trading lows in the S & P 500 each of those prior three times. While the S & P 500 only declined 5.5% from its early December peak this time, as we discussed in our analysis of the RSP Equal Weight S & P 500 ETF two weeks ago, many non-growth sectors experienced official 10% corrections from late 2024 through early 2025. Many of these sectors began rebounding last month — just as the dollar started to stall. From that perspective, reversals in both the dollar and the broader equity market don’t seem far-fetched at all. While it’s clear that the S & P 500 and the U.S. dollar have had a negative correlation the last three years, particularly at key inflection points, the 10-year Treasury yield and the U.S. Dollar have moved in near lockstep. Even casual market observers recognize this relationship but seeing both overlaid on a chart really emphasizes the connection. Conceptually, this is all about inflation expectations. If inflation is expected to rise, investors demand higher yields on bonds to compensate for the decrease in purchasing power. At the same time, a stronger dollar can be a response to inflation expectations if the Federal Reserve raises rates to control inflation. This makes sense given the softer-than-expected inflation reports of late. It also aligns from a technical standpoint, as both the dollar and the 10-Year Yield have returned to the upper bounds of their respective three-year trading ranges. If both are indeed due to retrace their recent advances, the stock market could benefit again — just as it did during the three prior instances since 2022. — Frank Cappelleri Founder: DISCLOSURES: (None) All opinions expressed by the CNBC Pro contributors are solely their opinions and do not reflect the opinions of CNBC, NBC UNIVERSAL, their parent company or affiliates, and may have been previously disseminated by them on television, radio, internet or another medium. The Super Bowl is being broadcast with Dolby Atmos audio for the first time
The Super Bowl is being broadcast with Dolby Atmos audio for the first time
Tubi isn’t the only service touting its Super Bowl LIX presentation prowess ahead of Sunday’s big game. If you have the right setup, the whistles, slamming helmets and quarterback play-calls in this year’s matchup could sound a bit more immersive. Comcast said on Wednesday that it will not only offer Dolby Vision, as it did in 2023, for the big game. This year, the showdown between the Chiefs and Eagles will also add Dolby Atmos for the first time.
The pairing is part of Comcast’s Enhanced 4K programming for X1 customers. The feature, which debuted at last year’s Paris Olympics, uses Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos surround sound for “crisp quality, brighter colors and immersive audio.” Enhanced 4K streams in “ultra-low latency” at higher bitrates than traditional 4K.
To get in on the jazzy presentation, you’ll need to be an Xfinity X1 subscriber with a checklist of required hardware. That starts with a 4K TV, 4K HDR set-top box (Xfinity X1, XG1v4 or Xi6) and a 4K-capable HDMI cord. In addition, your TV, external speakers or soundbar will need to support Dolby Atmos for the virtual surround sound experience. X1 subscribers can also get Enhanced 4K through the Xfinity Stream app.
Fox, which has the broadcast rights to this year’s Super Bowl, will also show the game for free in 4K on Tubi, which it owns. This will be the first time the streaming service has shown the big game — quite the departure from its usual fare of ad-supported Dog the Bounty Hunter and Duck Dynasty reruns.

Economist says to ‘follow the consumer’
Economist says to ‘follow the consumer’
In January, the private sector added 183,000, above estimates of 150,000, according to ADP. To speak more on the fresh labor data, ADP chief economist Nela Richardson joins Wealth to explain that hiring momentum from 2024 carried into the start of 2025, with notable job gains in service sectors like leisure and hospitality.
“So, if you want to know everything you need to know about the labor market, follow the consumer, because the businesses that support consumers and in consumer facing industries are the ones showing strength right now,” Richardson emphasizes. She also notes how manufacturing and construction saw declines, signaling a shift in the labor market.
While overall wage growth remains solid at 4.7%, she states it poses a challenge for the Federal Reserve as it contributes to persistent inflationary pressures: “It could be a challenge for the Federal Reserve because labor costs aren’t going down. They’re staying stuck at higher levels, which translates into sticky inflation.”
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics will be reporting non-farm payroll jobs data this Friday, February 7.

Wicked’s Emotional Finale Features A Hidden Fortnite Sound Effect
Wicked’s Emotional Finale Features A Hidden Fortnite Sound Effect
Fans of Wicked certainly felt a stirring when the film finally got to the musical’s best-known song, Defying Gravity, but they probably didn’t notice the subtle Fortnite sound effect during its final sequence. That’s right: Some of the sounds of Elphaba flying in the final sequence are straight from your nephew’s favorite battle royale game.
Per Eurogamer, you can see this unlikely detail in a video from the Rough Cut that features Wicked editor Myron Kerstein breaking down the complex final scene of the film, which features a wild mix of visual effects along with the music. At around the 7:20 mark in the video, you can see “All Skydiving Fly Sounds (Fortnite) – Sound effects for editing” right in the middle of the editing timeline.
This is the sound effect that plays when you jump out of the Battle Bus and shoot towards the ground. Fortnite developer Epic Games released the sound as a royalty-free library sample, and it seems that Kerstein used it to full effect. The Rough Cut video is quite an interesting watch if you’re interested in film production or just curious about the amount of work that goes into even a relatively short scene in a big film like Wicked.
Artists aren’t shy about using samples, whether that’s in video games, movies, or even music, and you can find lengthy YouTube videos that investigate the origin of these audio clips. For example, here’s a 25-minute video exploring the sources for the music of the Spyro series. In other Wicked news, the hit film got a Lego set and other merch that’s definitely worth checking out.

Breville Oracle Touch vs Breville Barista Touch: how to choose the right bean-to-cup coffee maker for you
Breville Oracle Touch vs Breville Barista Touch: how to choose the right bean-to-cup coffee maker for you
Breville makes some of the best espresso machines you can buy, but it can be tricky to decide which one is right for you. Not only do many of them have similar names, but they also look alike, too. That’s where we come in, breaking down all the key differences between two of the company’s top models: the Breville Oracle Touch and the Breville Barista Touch.
First, it’s important to know that Breville’s Barista range includes three different models with similar names: the Barista Touch, the Barista Touch Impress, and the Barista Express Impress. To help avoid confusion, I’ll cover them all, so you can see how they compare to the Breville Oracle Touch and to each other.
It’s also worth noting that Breville products are branded ‘Sage’ in the ***. That’s because there’s an older, unrelated company called Breville in the ***. You might also see some of these coffee machines marketed as ‘Sage by Heston Blumenthal’. For simplicity, this guide uses the name ‘Breville’ throughout.
Breville Oracle Touch vs Barista Touch: price
The Oracle Touch is Breville’s top-end espresso machine, with a list price of $2,099.95 / £2,099.95 / AU$3,699.
The Breville Barista Touch costs about half that much, with a list price of $999.95 / £1,049.95 / AU$1,499, while the Barista Touch Impress sits in between at $1,499.95 / £1,199.95 / AU$1,999. The Barista Express Impress is the most affordable model at $799.95 / £729.95 / AU$899.
You can sometimes find Breville coffee makers available for a discount during sales events like ****** Friday or Amazon Prime Day. We’ve rounded up today’s best deals on all four machines for you here:
Breville Oracle Touch vs Barista Touch: features
The Oracle Touch is Breville’s top-end espresso machine, with features including automatic milk texturizing, a dedicated steam boiler so you can steam milk while pulling a shot, an integrated burr grinder with a choice of 45 grind sizes, and a professional-grade 58mm portafilter. It’s controlled with a large color touchscreen that lets you swipe between menu options and create up to eight custom drinks.
The Barista Touch also has a touchscreen display and an automatic texturizing system, but it only has a single boiler. It has an integrated burr grinder with 30 grind sizes and, like all machines in the Barista series, it has a 54mm portafilter.
The Barista Touch Impress also has the touchscreen, grinder with 30 grind sizes, and auto milk texturizing system, but it offers a couple of upgrades. It has a more powerful pump than the Barista Touch (1,750W compared to 1,680W), and has a system called Impress Puck that includes intelligent dosing, assisted tamping, and automatic correction of the next dose of coffee.
The Barista Express Impress has Impress Puck but, instead of the automatic milk texturizing system, it has a manual steam wand. Its grinder only provides 25 grind sizes, and it has physical buttons rather than a touchscreen (which is why it doesn’t have ‘touch’ in the name).

Breville Oracle Touch vs Barista Touch: conclusion
If you want the very best bean-to-cup coffee machine, the Breville Oracle Touch is the machine for you. Features like a dual boiler, pro-grade portafilter, and wider choice of grind sizes give you an experience that’s close to a professional espresso machine.
If you like the sound of the Oracle Touch but your budget won’t stretch that far, the Barista Touch is a great alternative. Its specs aren’t quite so impressive (this is definitely more of a mid-range machine in terms of price and features), but it’s still an excellent machine that will help you brew good coffee consistently. If you wouldn’t call coffee your hobby, it’s probably the better option.
Want something a bit easier to use? The Breville Barista Touch Impress takes the guesswork out of grinding and tamping, as well as foaming your milk. You just have to worry about pouring your latte art.
If you prefer your coffee ****** or are comfortable steaming milk with a manual wand, the Barista Express Impress is a good option. It lacks a touchscreen, but is more affordable and still covers all the essentials.
