Hundreds flock to Lakeside Joondalup shopping centre to celebrate 40-year milestone of Rick and Sue Hundreds flock to Lakeside Joondalup shopping centre to celebrate 40-year milestone of Rick and Sue Hundreds of people flocked to Lakeside Joondalup to meet iconic television duo Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr as the pair celebrate 40 years on air. A meet and greet took place on Wednesday morning where those eager to see the presenters in the flesh were able to say hello and receive a commemorative medallion. The crowd wrapped around several stalls in the shopping centre and let out a cheer when the duo arrived at the centre. Stacee Parkinson was the very first person to meet the pair in the event, she had been waiting around three hours and had caught an Uber to make sure she was front of the line. “I’ve always wanted to meet Sue and Rick,” she said. “It’s so good that they’ve lasted 40 years on TV and on 7NEWS, I’ve grown up with them in my living area, that’s all my dad had on is 7NEWS and I still watch them today. “I think they’re an awesome, powerhouse news couple.” The event was organised to recognise the pair’s 40 years on air together presenting 7NEWS. 3. Trump Press Secretary Hit With Embarrassing Fact-Check on Fraud Claim Trump Press Secretary Hit With Embarrassing Fact-Check on Fraud Claim Donald Trump’s White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt boosted billionaire Elon Musk’s fantastical allegations of widespread fraud at the Social Security Administration (SSA)—and got called out for it. “President Trump has directed Elon Musk and the DOGE team to identify fraud at the Social Security Administration. They haven’t dug into the books yet, but they suspect that there are tens of millions of deceased people receiving fraudulent Social Security payments,” Leavitt said during an appearance on Fox News Monday. Leavitt said DOGE was seeking to “identify payments that are going to deceased people who are no longer living, and should no longer be receiving that money.” She claimed she had spent the day battling with “fake news reporters” who had been “fearmongering” about Musk. Earlier that day, Michelle King, SSA’s acting commissioner, resigned due to a clash with the unelected bureaucrat, who recently gained access to the agency’s databases that contain troves of sensitive data belonging to American citizens. For someone with mere “suspicions,” as Leavitt put it, Musk has been steadily ramping up his public claims about fraud at the Social Security Administration. Last week, he claimed that DOGE’s review of the SSA had uncovered people marked as 150 years old who had been receiving social security benefits. “Now, do you know anyone that’s 150? I don’t know. They should be in the Guinness Book of World Records.… So that’s a case where I think they’re probably dead,” Musk said during an appearance in the Oval Office. He repeated the claim on X Sunday, attaching a chart of how many people in different age brackets had received social security benefits, suggesting that more than 16 million people whose ages were marked between 110 and 370 years old were receiving social security benefits. “According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE! Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security,” Musk wrote. In total, the chart inexplicably alleged that 400 million people were receiving social security benefits, while the SSA’s website states that in 2024, there were only 68,455,973 social security recipients. But that’s not the only part of Musk’s fraud claims that don’t quite pass the smell check. DOGE didn’t discover fraud, but a filing error that was already made public in a 2023 report from the Inspector General’s Office. The office found that the Social Security databases, specifically the Death Master File (DMF) and the Numident, a file containing identifiable information for each person issued a Social Security number, were not always updated when someone died. The Numident contained the names of more than 18 million people born before 1920 who had no death information. “Death information missing from the Numident and the DMF hampers both SSA and Government-wide efforts to prevent and detect fraud and misuse,” the report authors said. This isn’t the first time that Musk has claimed DOGE discovered something that was actually publicly available. Crucially, this so-called discovery doesn’t necessarily indicate fraud. The 2023 report found that 98 percent of social security numberholders aged 100 years or older were not receiving benefits. Ultimately, the report determined that the system didn’t need to be updated because it was too expensive. Musk should like that kind of thing, right? SSA has other means of combatting this issue. Since 2015, the SSA has had a policy of automatically terminating entitlement to beneficiaries who are “age 115, or older,” “in any current continuous suspense for seven years or more” or “entitled on a record where there are no other beneficiaries in a non-terminated status younger than the age of 115.” Experts have suggested another possible explanation for the wide-ranging ages of beneficiaries is a quirk of COBOL, a 60-year-old programming language, which might use May 20, 1875, as a reference point in its coding. A COBOL system might indicate that anyone with a missing birthdate in the SSA’s database was 150 years old, which could explain Musk’s assertion about the droves of centenarians receiving social security benefits, according to Wired. All of these holes render Leavitt’s desperate attempts to back up Musk’s outrageous claims all the more ridiculous. “This is absurd, corrosive nonsense,” wrote journalist James Surowiecki in a post on X Tuesday. “There are not tens of millions of dead people getting Social Security checks, and the only reason Leavitt is out here making these hysterical claims is because Elon Musk misunderstood a table of numbers.” Even one right-wing commentator was left questioning Musk’s math. “Sounds like WH may have misinterpreted DOGE data on social security… it seems we are NOT PAYING these benefits… rather, these people (age 150 and whatever) are just on the rolls despite no checks going out,” Trish Regan wrote on X Tuesday. “If that’s the case, this is not the huge find that people hoped for,” she said. “While social security records SHOULD be cleaned up, it appears this finding will have little savings effect since the checks weren’t going out. Looks like the team got out over its skis on this one. Sure—clean up the records, but it’s critical to present the math CORRECTLY.” In another post, she urged Musk and DOGE to “triple check the math.” Source link #Trump #Press #Secretary #Hit #Embarrassing #FactCheck #Fraud #Claim Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

In a post on Weibo, the ******** microblogging website, user Digital Chat Station (translated from ********) claims that the new battery will support 80W SuperVOOC charging, like the company’s existing flagship smartphones. ******** smartphone makers are racing ahead of their competitors with advanced Silicon Carbon (Si/C) battery technology, and future handsets are expected to arrive with additional improvements. OnePlus, Oppo Testing Si/C Battery With 80W Charging Support Ouga Lab, the combined research and development group that comprises Oppo and OnePlus teams, is testing a new battery, according to the post by Digital Chat Station. It is said to be a new silicon-carbon battery that has a capacity of 8,000mAh. It can be charged at around 80W, the tipster claims. When OnePlus launched the Ace 3 Pro last year, the company claimed that its Si/C battery had the “highest silicon content” at the time — at 6 percent. The new battery being tested by Ouga Lab raises that amount to 15 percent, the tipster claims. It’s currently unclear whether the 8,000mAh battery will eventually make its way to upcoming Oppo and OnePlus handsets. If the companies decide to introduce the upgraded battery, we can speculate that it might arrive on a future flagship model, like the successors to the OnePlus 13 or the Oppo Find X8 series. Last December, it was reported that both Xiaomi and OnePlus were working on new smartphones equipped with 7,000mAh batteries that could be launched in 2025. The companies’ flagship Xiaomi 15 Pro and OnePlus 13 models are equipped with 6,100mAh and 6,000mAh batteries, respectively. 6. New Seismic Data Challenges Earth’s Inner Core Structure, Reveals Surprising Findings New Seismic Data Challenges Earth’s Inner Core Structure, Reveals Surprising Findings New research suggests that Earth’s inner core may not be as solid as previously believed. Scientists studying seismic waveforms have discovered structural changes in the core, which challenge long-held assumptions about its composition. This discovery emerged while researchers were examining the inner core’s slowing rotation. The seismic data, gathered from multiple earthquakes over three decades, indicated unexpected wave behaviors. Experts believe these findings could provide new insights into Earth’s thermal and magnetic fields, as well as subtle variations in the planet’s rotation. Seismic Data Reveals Core’s Malleability According to the study published in Nature Geoscience on February 10, researchers from the University of Southern California (USC) analysed seismic data from 121 earthquakes that occurred between 1991 and 2024. These earthquakes were recorded across 42 locations near the South Sandwich Islands. While initially focused on the core’s rotational slowdown, the team observed anomalies in the waveforms, prompting further investigation. The research led them to conclude that the inner core might exhibit more movement and structural variation than previously understood. Expert Insights on Core Behavior John Vidale, Dean’s Professor of Earth Sciences at USC Dornsife College, told in an official release that an unusual seismic dataset stood out while analysing decades of records. He noted that the data revealed physical activity in the inner core, suggesting it is not entirely solid. Enhanced resolution techniques helped confirm these observations. Researchers believe the structural changes could be linked to the core’s slowing motion, which might even slightly affect the length of a day. Implications for Earth’s Magnetic and Thermal Fields Experts suggest that these findings could improve the understanding of Earth’s internal processes, particularly its magnetic and thermal fields. The discovery may refine existing models of the planet’s structure and behavior. While more research is needed, the study offers a fresh perspective on the inner workings of Earth’s core. 7. Court rules activists can not sue Sweden over climate Court rules activists can not sue Sweden over climate Sweden’s Supreme Court has ruled Greta Thunberg and hundreds of other young activists can not sue the state in a Swedish court over what they say is insufficient action against climate change. Activists filed a class action lawsuit in 2022 with a district court claiming the state violates their rights as laid out in the European Convention on Human Rights by not doing enough to limit climate change, nor to mitigate its effects. The district court in 2023 asked the Supreme Court to clarify whether a lawsuit of this kind can effectively be tried in a Swedish court, after the state requested the case be dismissed. “A court cannot decide that the Riksdag or the government must take any specific action. The political bodies decide independently on which specific climate measures Sweden should take,” the Supreme Court said in a statement on Wednesday. The currently around 300 plaintiffs, which call themselves the Aurora group, wanted the district court to order Sweden to do more to limit global warming to 1.5C. 9. Even in his final seconds of life, first gay imam pushed boundaries Even in his final seconds of life, first gay imam pushed boundaries The execution-style killing of an openly gay imam, Muhsin Hendricks, in South Africa has left people in the LGBTQ+ community fearful for their safety – but also determined to forge ahead with the campaign to end their marginalisation in religious circles. Reverend Toni Kruger-Ayebazibwe, an openly gay Christian cleric, told the BBC that Hendricks was a “gentle spirit” who brought light into any room he occupied. “The gap Muhsin leaves is massive,” she said, adding that she knew for a fact that there were “a large number of ****** Muslims around the world who are grief stricken”. The 57-year-old was shot dead in what appeared to be a hit on Saturday in the small coastal city of Gqeberha. Initial reports that Cape Town-based Hendricks had been in Gqeberha to perform the wedding ceremony of a gay couple have been dismissed as untrue by his Al-Gurbaah Foundation. “He was visiting Gqeberha to officiate the marriages of two interfaith heterosexual couples when he was tragically shot and killed,” it said in a statement. It is unclear why the couples had asked Hendricks to oversee their ceremonies, but it suggests that he was pushing the boundaries, even in the last seconds of his life. Traditional imams in South Africa rarely, if ever, perform the marriage of a ******* to a non-******* – something that Hendricks clearly had no issue with. He had, according to a faith leader that the BBC spoke to, conducted one such marriage ceremony and was on his way to conduct the next one when he was gunned down in his vehicle. South Africa has a thriving LGBTQ+ community and in 2006 became the first country in Africa to legalise same-sex marriage [AFP] Two leading bodies that represent imams – the ******* Judicial Council (MJC) and the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) – condemned Hendricks’ killing. “As members of a democratic, pluralistic society, the MJC remains steadfast in advocating for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, even amidst divergent views,” the MJC said, while the UUCSA said it condemned “all forms of extra-judicial killings”. However, Hendricks – who did his Islamic studies in Pakistan – was a pariah in their circles, as they hold the view that Islam prohibits same-sex relations. They pointedly referred to him as “Mr Hendricks”, rather than by religious titles like imam or sheikh. In contrast, Hendricks’ supporters hailed him as the world’s first openly gay imam who made it possible for them to reconcile their sexuality with their Islamic faith. That he was a trail-blazer is not surprising – South Africa’s constitution, adopted in 1996 after the end of white-********* rule, was the first in the world to protect people from discrimination because of their ******* orientation. Then in 2006, South Africa became the first country in Africa to legalise same-sex marriage. Once in a heterosexual marriage with children, Hendricks came out as gay in 1996 – and, according to The Conversation, he later broke another taboo by marrying a Hindu man. He then spearheaded the formation of The Inner Circle as “an underground social and support group” for ****** Muslims. It started out at his home in Cape Town, and has “proven to be very successful in helping Muslims who are ****** to reconcile Islam with their sexuality”, The Inner Circle’s website says. Despite South Africa having a thriving LGBTQ+ scene, members of the community still face some stigmatisation and violence. Most religious groups in South Africa have shied away from recognising same-sex unions [AFP] Only a few of the country’s religious groups have adopted policies that are more favourable towards the community, among them the Dutch Reformed Church and the Methodist Church of Southern Africa. The Dutch Reformed Church was in 2019 forced by the courts to reinstate a policy it had introduced four years earlier, but then scrapped, allowing same-sex marriages and for gay and lesbian pastors to be in romantic relationships. The following year, the Methodist Church said that while it was “not yet ready to apply for its ministers to officiate at same-sex marriages”, no congregant residing in a member country that recognised civil unions would be “prevented from entering into such a union which can be as same-sex or opposite sex couples”. Reverend Ecclesia de Lange, the director at Inclusive and Affirming Ministries (IAM), told the BBC that even in instances where faith groups had adopted inclusive policies there were still “pockets of very strong conservatism”. “The traditional interpretations of sacred texts continue to exclude LGBTQ+ people, so the struggle for acceptance within faith communities remains ongoing,” she said. Senior lecturer in Islamic Studies at South Africa’s University of the Western Cape, Dr Fatima Essop, reflected on the “distressing” vitriolic content circulating on social media in the wake of Hendricks’ killing. “I just find that completely shocking and so far removed from our… Islamic tradition, which is all about compassion and mercy and preservation of human life,” she told the BBC. Dr Essop added that while she understood some of the strong feelings against Hendricks’ work, there was “absolutely no justification, Islamic or otherwise, for this kind of violence”. And while the motive is unclear, Hendrick’s killing – and the negative comments that followed – was likely to make people fearful to “speak about their sexuality or ******* orientation”, Dr Essop said. Reverend Kruger-Ayebazibwe said that while Hendricks’ shooting would make LGBTQ+ leaders rethink their security, it would not deter them from campaigning for change “because the work matters too much”. Hendricks has already been buried at a private ceremony, though his Al-Gurbaah Foundation has pledged to organise a memorial in the near future to “honour his immense contributions”. For Teboho Klaas, the religion programme officer at The Other Foundation, which champions LGBTQ+ rights in southern Africa, his killers may have cut his life short “but not his legacy because he has multiplied himself”. Bamboo-based panels brave typhoons, corrosion in world’s largest sea crossing Bamboo-based panels brave typhoons, corrosion in world’s largest sea crossing Spanning 34 miles, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) is the largest sea-crossing bridge-and-tunnel system in the world. Aimed to last over a century, this $18.8 billion architectural masterpiece – consisting of three cable-stayed bridges, an undersea tunnel, and four artificial islands – was particularly designed to withstand China’s unforgiving sun, relentless seawater corrosion, and fierce typhoons. With seven tropical cyclones hitting the East Asian country’s coastline each year out of 27 to 28 forming nearby, the need for storm-resistant structures is undeniable. Throughout the years infrastructure investment in China remains a key driver of economic growth, accounting for 6.7 percent of the country’s GDP. However, it’s the ingenious use of 215,278 square feet (20,000 square meters) of bamboo panels on the bridge’s artificial islands that has drawn attention on a global scale, proving that nature-inspired solutions can withstand extreme conditions as well. These panels have endured every environmental challenge since the bridge opened in 2018. China’s innovative take on bamboo China is the world’s largest bamboo supplier, with over 4.22 billion poles produced in 2022. In addition, its total industry output reached $ 74.2 billion in 2023. As a global leader in bamboo cultivation and innovation, the country has increasingly explored ways to integrate this fast-growing, sustainable material into large-scale infrastructure projects. These biodegradable and eco-friendly engineered bamboo products are growing in popularity, and have recently seen expanded applications in construction, pipelines, furniture, and decorations – all due to their strength and abundance. Meanwhile, thousands of other bamboo-based products such as weaving crafts, fiber textiles, and charcoal products have also emerged, finding new relevance in modern use. With over 6.67 million hectares of bamboo forests, China has not only maximized its bamboo resources, with large bamboo pole production increasing more than sevenfold in the last 25 years, but has also pioneered innovative applications across various industries. “Currently, the majority of the world’s bamboo resources are distributed in developing countries,” Lou Zhicao, PhD, an associate professor at Nanjing Forestry University’s Bamboo Research Institute told China Daily. Standing the test of time Engineers say the bamboo composite panels on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge remain “as solid as ever,” even six years after the bridge’s initial opening. According to Lou, while bamboo’s rich nutrients contribute to its rapid growth, they also make it highly prone to decay. To tackle the issue, Lou and his team have recently introduced a heat treatment that eliminates decay-causing nutrients while preserving the bamboo’s structural integrity. This innovation significantly reduces bamboo’s complex processing time by over 50 percent and enables it to withstand outdoor conditions for at least five years without requiring anti-mold treatments. “The new mild pyrolytic technique was designed to reduce more than half of both the heat treatment temperature and time, as well as cutting the energy consumption,” says Lou adding that the team also developed a low-emission adhesive with reduced levels of formaldehyde and phenol, to minimize the release of harmful chemicals. “China is not only the world’s largest bamboo producer but also holds a comparative advantage in processing capabilities,” says Zhicao. “Maintaining China’s leadership in bamboo technology innovation is crucial. The industry should focus on advancing automation and smart manufacturing while actively shaping international standards.” Source link #Bamboobased #panels #brave #typhoons #corrosion #worlds #largest #sea #crossing Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

Elon Musk’s startup rolls out new Grok-3 chatbot as AI competition intensifies | Elon Musk Elon Musk’s startup rolls out new Grok-3 chatbot as AI competition intensifies | Elon Musk Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI has introduced Grok-3, the latest iteration of its chatbot that integrates with X, formerly Twitter. Grok-3 debut comes at a critical moment in the AI arms race as Musk looks to compete with the ******** AI firm DeepSeek, Microsoft-backed OpenAI and Google. Musk’s bot has seen less widespread adoption than DeepSeek’s namesake chatbot, which wowed the world weeks ago and caused panic in stock markets, as well as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. Grok-3 is being rolled out immediately to Premium+ subscribers of X, the social media platform owned by Musk. xAI is also launching a new subscription tier, SuperGrok, for users accessing the chatbot via its mobile app and Grok.com website. The chatbot can generate texts and images without many of the common guardrails against ********* suggestive imagery, vulgarity or the reproduction of well-known people’s likenesses. X users have deployed the chatbot to mock political figures, including Musk himself, create deepfakes of celebrities and manipulate copyrighted material. “Grok-3 across the board is in a league of its own,” Musk said during a live stream alongside three xAI engineers late on Monday. He added the new model outperforms its predecessor, Grok-2, boasting of “more than 10 times” the computing power of the previous version and passing AI industry benchmark tests with flying colors. He called the bot “maximally truth-seeking AI, even if that truth is sometimes at odds with what is politically correct”. The billionaire CEO regularly spreads falsehoods to his 200 million followers on X. Musk said the bot leveraged “Big Brain” mode for more complex research tasks than a normal chatbot could conduct. The latest release introduces a smart search engine, called DeepSearch, which xAI describes as a reasoning-based chatbot capable of articulating its thought process when responding to user queries. The tool, demonstrated during the live stream, offers functions for research, brainstorming and data analysis. Two weeks ago, OpenAI released a large language model that can similarly comb through the open internet and conduct more human-esque research for paying subscribers to ChatGPT. Google has also added research functions to Gemini. “The introduction of Grok-3 puts xAI back in the race for leadership in open-source LLMs [large language models]. It outperforms the current state-of-the-art models on some benchmarks, which makes xAI relevant again” said Gil Luria, managing director at DA Davidson. As competition in AI intensifies, xAI is ramping up its data center capacity to train more advanced models by raising billions of dollars. Musk touts its supercomputer cluster in Memphis, Tennessee, called “Colossus”, as the largest in the world. However, Luria said improvements over the Grok-2 model appear to be too small to justify the enormous resources used to train it. skip past newsletter promotion A weekly dive in to how technology is shaping our lives Privacy Notice: Newsletters may contain info about charities, online ads, and content funded by outside parties. 16. *** inflation spikes to a 10-month high, likely to worry the Bank of England *** inflation spikes to a 10-month high, likely to worry the Bank of England LONDON (AP) — Inflation in the U.K. rose to a 10-month high in January, official figures showed Wednesday, an increase that will likely diminish expectations of rapid interest rate reductions from the Bank of England. The Office for National Statistics said inflation, as measured by the consumer prices index, rose to 3% in the year to January, up from the equivalent 2.5% rate the month before. The spike, which took inflation further above the bank’s target of 2%, was largely due to increases in airfares, food casts and private school fees in the wake of the new Labour government’s decision to impose a sales tax. Economists had anticipated an increase to 2.8% but the scale of the spike has come as a big surprise and will likely cause concern among rate-setters at the central bank at a time when they are voicing worries about about the U.K.’s tepid economic growth. Earlier this month, the bank cut its main interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point to 4.50%, its third reduction in six months, as it halved its 2025 growth forecast for the U.K. to 0.75%. If growth remains that modest, it will be hugely disappointing news for the U.K.’s new Labour government, which has made growth its number one mission as it will boost living standards and generate funds for cash-starved public services. With growth proving elusive, the party’s popularity has fallen sharply since its election victory in July. The government will no doubt be hoping that the central bank helps it out by cutting interest rates further as it will contribute to lower mortgage rates and cheaper loans, though reducing the returns offered to savers. Most economists think that inflation will rise further in the coming months as a result of higher domestic energy bills but start to trend lower in the second half of the year, which will give -policymakers room to cut interest rates again — but maybe not as many times as previously thought. “Another rate cut in March looks pretty unlikely, with the bank continuing with its gradual pace of easing for now,” said Luke Bartholomew, deputy chief economist at abrdn, formerly Aberdeen Asset Management. “But any speeding up of the pace of rate cuts in the second half of the year will depend on inflation pressures heading back towards 2%” Source link #inflation #spikes #10month #high #worry #Bank #England Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  21. Shuhei Yoshida Didn’t Believe Kutaragi Could Succeed With Original PlayStation Shuhei Yoshida Didn’t Believe Kutaragi Could Succeed With Original PlayStation neomahi3h ago There it is. After all the hard work by Kaz Harai, Jack Tretton, Andrew House, etc., friggin Jim Ryan. What really happened with the MLB deal? Did the MLB really threaten him with MLB license for The Show? Everyone just kissed his butt, afraid they’d get fired, and what else happened? He made the decision to port games to PC, a move Nintendo hasn’t even made, and Nintendo has the most to lose is the gaming industry were to go bottom up. Microsoft keeps making office software, Sony….. Does everything from end-to-end from music to movies to PC. Nintendo does what…. Makes toys? A Japanese Hasbro….. Well, a sad excuse, but PlayStation went the PC route when they didn’t even have too. Xbox was swirling the toilet bowl, they couldn’t think of anything else. Live Service Games, and in comes Herman Hulst that kissed Jim Ryans butt to move up the ranks and then went right along with him making things worse. I’m not convinced either the new Japanese CEO is going to do any better. Probably just as clueless. What were they thinking going to PC, and wimping out porting Lego Horizon to Switch??? Why? DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND XBOX ISNT SEEING THE FUTURE, THEYRE REACTING TO A GRAVE THEY DUG THEY CANT CLIMB OUT OF! They ******* off consumers, lies are near impossible to come back from when your caught and they were caught multiple times. They don’t know what else to do and they don’t have the knowhow to fix it, because Xbox and Microsoft don’t have those kinds of minds. They’re followers, not industry leaders. PlayStation is made up of some of the best minds of the Tom Kalinske ***** era that started at ***** and went to various positions within PlayStation. Mark Cerney? Former *****. Evan Wells (Co-President of Naughty Dog) came from ***** that worked on ToeJam and Earl. PlayStation’s very first CEO Steve Race was over marketing for *****. Scott Rodhe started out a Game Tester in QA for ***** and is now one of the most beloved Vice Presidents of PlayStation talked about by PlayStation first-parties most creative minds. Jim Ryan couldve pulled a Don Mattrick. He just wanted power and it’s likely the people had spoken just in time to get him to retire early. Herman Hulst was already in flux and is still a problem. Send him back to Guerilla Games, he did great there pushing technology in games. Once his head was inflated and they got a British CEO, then it was buddying up with their own kind, but look what they’ve done. This new Japanese guy, he’s a wimp! He’s not aggressive, he’s a *****. PlayStation needs a shake-up and they need to go back to strengths and faith in their own hardware. They don’t need PC. 25. Mother of Southport victim remembers daughter who loved to dance Mother of Southport victim remembers daughter who loved to dance The mother of one of the Southport attack victims has remembered her dance-loving daughter in her first interview since the nine-year-old was killed. Alice da Silva Aguiar was murdered alongside Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and six-year-old Bebe King at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport on July 29 last year. Portuguese-born Alex Aguiar, mother of Alice, also told the Liverpool Echo the local community had been “incredible” in supporting her and her husband Sergio in the aftermath of the attack and the loss of their daughter. “Everyone has been incredible, people who don’t know us and we’re not from here and we’ve got so much help,” she said. Ms Aguiar says she now sees Southport as her home. “People have been very kind, wanting to help us, we didn’t expect that. “We feel at home and we don’t feel like we have to go back.” In her first media interview since the knife attack, the 34-year-old paid tribute to her daughter, who loved dancing and had started baby ballet when she was 16 months old. “When she was four, she went to Southport Dance Academy and from then on Heidi [Liddle] was her ballet teacher,” Ms Aguiar told the Liverpool Echo. “She started doing street dance two years ago in the same dance academy but then she stopped after Heidi went off on maternity leave. “She was fuming. “She kept on doing ballet on Saturdays and then she used to street dance. “On Thursdays she would do cheerleading at the YMCA and the choir in the school every Tuesday.” Heidi Liddle was one of the two adults, along with class instructor Leanne Lucas, present at the dance class when attacker Axel Rudakubana entered the Hart Space on the small business estate on July 29 2024. Rudakubana, 18, was jailed for a minimum of 52 years in January for the murders of the three girls, as well as the attempted ******* of eight other children, who cannot be named for legal reasons, as well as Ms Lucas and businessman John Hayes. Over the past few months, Ms Aguiar has been focusing her efforts on projects to build a legacy for Alice, which she told the Echo she would be sharing in the coming months.
