‘Should’ve Never Been Banned’, Dr Disrespect Pleads With Twitch
‘Should’ve Never Been Banned’, Dr Disrespect Pleads With Twitch
Despite relocating to Rumble and maintaining a steady stream of content on YouTube, Dr Disrepect refuses to let go of his years-old permanent ban from Twitch. In 2020, the notoriously controversial creator was booted unceremoniously from Twitch, and last year, we found out why.
Recently, the smeared streamer took to social media to stress that ‘we should’ve never been banned in the first place’, insisting that his ‘Doc character’ should be reinstated on the platform. This comes after months, if not years, of a smear campaign against Twitch headed by the man himself.
‘Pathetic’
Strangely, it wasn’t ‘Dr Disrespect’ that made the post on social media, but Guy Beahm. Dr Disrespect is a ‘persona’ of Beahm, who started streaming almost fifteen years ago, birthing this inane, eccentric, and egotistical character.
On Twitter (X), Beahm wrote:
Although things have been ‘settled’, Twitch should do the right thing and correct their mistake of permanently banning the Doc by reinstating the channel.
We should’ve never been banned in the first place.
Twitch should’ve never allowed a low level employee to override the entire ban system, which had already determined we didn’t do anything wrong, because of biased opinions of the Doc character.
They could’ve reached out and had a quick 5 minute call and realize these mutual jokes and bantering never had serious intentions.
Pathetic.
Bizarrely, he attempts to pass off messaging a minor and making inappropriate comments (which he admitted to doing) as ‘mutual jokes and bantering’. To this day, Beahm has never cleared the air about what was said in 2017 on Twitch to a minor, which ultimately led to him being permanently banned from the site.
He maintains that he never did anything wrong, but that didn’t stop his peers, sponsors, and even close friends from cutting ties with him.
It’s a weird situation all around. Recently, Dr Disrespect signed a deal with Rumble, a competing streaming platform, and today, he’s begging Twitch to take him back, which is a kick in the gut to whoever paid him over on Rumble.
Do you think Dr Disrespect should be allowed to return to Twitch, or should he be pushed off every streaming platform in the business? Let us know in the comments or on the Insider Gaming forum.

Could New Scottish Law Ban ‘Private Prayer’ in Homes Near Abortion Facilities? VP Vance Thinks So
Could New Scottish Law Ban ‘Private Prayer’ in Homes Near Abortion Facilities? VP Vance Thinks So
Vice President JD Vance faced swift backlash for asserting a Scottish law is banning prayer within private homes near abortion facilities, but the law certainly does raise concerns about individual rights, particularly given its ambiguity.
During a speech last week at the Munich Security Conference, the 40-year-old Vance said the Scottish government delivered letters to residents whose homes are within the perimeters of so-called “safe access zones” surrounding abortion clinics, the BBC reported.
Listen to the latest episode of “Quick Start”
The vice president referenced, as CBN News reported, the case of Adam Smith-Connor, a man in Bournemouth convicted last October for praying silently within the “safe access zone” of an abortion clinic in November 2022.
“I wish I could say that this was a fluke, a one-off, crazy example of a badly written law being enacted against a single person,” Vance said. “But, no, this [was] last October. Just a few months ago, the Scottish government began distributing letters to citizens whose houses lay within so-called ‘safe access zones,’ warning them that even private prayer within their own homes may amount to breaking the law.”
Critics of Vance immediately argued the letter distributed to residents living near abortion clinics never explicitly stated “prayer” could be considered an “offense.” Instead, the letter purportedly stated simply “activities” could be in violation of the law.
A spokesperson for the Scottish government told the BBC, “Private prayer at home is not prohibited within ‘safe access zones,’ and no letter has ever suggested it was. ‘Safe access zones’ are designed to safeguard a woman’s right to access healthcare and protect their right to dignity and respect when they need it most.”
The representative went on to say the law is centered on “only intentional or reckless behavior close to a small number of premises providing abortion services” and “it does not — and has never been intended to — criminalize any particular action, including silent prayer.”
The Alliance Defending Freedom U.K. posted a photo of the alleged letter to X:
Could having a conversation about abortion in your OWN HOME while the windows are open be a criminal offence in Scotland? pic.twitter.com/3VKtJCS9pc
— ADF *** (@ADF_UK) October 10, 2024
At best, it seems, the letter could have a chilling effect on residents living near abortion clinics.
The new law went into effect Sept. 24, 2024, and it bans — among other things — “silent vigils,” “handing out leaflets,” and “religious preaching” within about 650 feet of the boundaries of abortion facilities.
Additionally, among the “activities” that could be cause for citation is “influencing someone’s decision to access, provide, or facilitate the provision of abortion service.”
A government site explaining the statute delineates, “This list is not exhaustive and enforcement agencies will reach their own decisions on whether an offense has been committed. Safe access zones help ensure women and girls can access abortion services without fear or intimidation, and protect staff working at these locations.”
The law, one British pro-life activist asserted, “is being misapplied to prayer.” Lois McLatchie Miller made the comment after posting a clip purportedly showing Scottish police approaching pro-life activist Rose Docherty.
BREAKING: Scottish police filmed applying “buffer zone” law to “silent vigil”, despite recent denials from the Scottish government!
“Am I committing an offence?”
“Yes, I believe you are conducting a silent vigil”
Vance was right. The law IS being misapplied to prayer pic.twitter.com/Gsm0x4yspM
— Lois McLatchie Miller (@LoisMcLatch) February 18, 2025
It appeared the officers were explaining to Docherty — who was holding a sign that read, “Coercion is a crime, here to talk, only if you want” — that her “silent vigil” near an abortion facility was ********.
“Vance was right,” wrote Miller.

Even If Devs Said No, SEAF Warbond Can Still Work If Introduced As a Special Heavy Artillery Unit
Even If Devs Said No, SEAF Warbond Can Still Work If Introduced As a Special Heavy Artillery Unit
Over the past few days, the Helldivers 2 community has been discussing the possibility of Arrowhead Game Studios giving players a SEAF-themed Warbond. Realistically, it’s hard to say if Arrowhead would give players SEAF-themed items, primarily because Helldivers are different from Super Earth Armed Forces, so having this Warbond would completely defeat the purpose of having two separate forces in the game.
The Helldivers 2 community wants to play a SEAF now (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios)
There is only one way to execute this idea and that is to introduce a new force like Elite SEAF soldiers, which could simply be Helldivers in SEAF’s outfits. Arrowhead recently gave players a collaboration with Killzone but it seems like the community wants the studio to explore the Helldivers universe first before moving on to other IPs.
Arrowhead Game Studios could give players a SEAF Warbond in the form of a brand-new elite force
Recently, a post went viral on the r/Helldivers2 subreddit that pointed out that Arrowhead Game Studios should give players a SEAF-themed Warbond. The post sparked debates among the community but it is clear that the studio would never introduce such Warbond because Helldivers and SEAF are two different forces.
Many players shared their views on the idea and it is safe to say that the community loves this idea because fans are yet to see what kind of troops, vehicles, and weapons the SEAF uses.

There’s a low chance that Arrowhead would acknowledge this idea, however, this one suggestion from this player may solve the problem.
Comment byu/Money_Surprise5910 from discussion inhelldivers2
Instead of a Warbond, Arrowhead Game Studios could allow players to join a new type of force called the Elite SEAF. These soldiers would use the SEAF outfits, titles, banners, etc, and would lead other low-rank SEAF soldiers. On top of this, this move would also allow Arrowhead to introduce some fresh missions, which are focused more on SEAF’s tasks.
Players want Arrowhead Game Studios to explore the Helldivers universe

After the Helldivers 2 x Killzone collaboration, players have been sharing some wild collaboration ideas with other IPs. However, now, it seems like the community is encouraging Arrowhead to explore the Helldivers universe. Helldivers are also technically a branch of SEAF, so this means that Arrowhead could also introduce new teams that specialize in different fields.
Not just friendly forces, but Arrowhead could also make the lore much more intriguing by introducing former Super Earth soldiers who have discovered Super Earth’s dark truth. The Helldivers franchise has gained a lot of popularity over the past year. In fact, Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, has confirmed that a movie based on Helldivers 2 is in the works.

Anger over climate assessment delays after US exit
Anger over climate assessment delays after US exit
The European Union, Britain and climate-vulnerable developing countries have raised concerns about delays to the next global assessment of climate change, by the UN’s climate science panel, after the Trump administration withdrew the US from the process.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the UN body which brings together climate scientists from nearly 200 countries to assess the planet’s health, will meet in Hangzhou, China, next week to plan its next global report.
“It will be vital that all working group contributions to the seventh assessment report are prepared in time,” the EU’s climate chief, Wopke Hoekstra, and ministers from 17 countries including Britain, Germany, France, Spain, the Marshall Islands and Guatemala said in a joint statement.
“We owe it to everyone suffering the impacts of the climate crisis now, and to future generations, to make decisions about our planet’s future on the basis of the best evidence and knowledge available to us,” the statement said.
The Trump administration has halted the participation of US scientists in the IPCC and will not attend its meeting in Hangzhou next week, Reuters reported on Thursday.
Officials familiar with the talks said the countries behind the statement were concerned the report would now not be completed in time to inform the next Paris Agreement stocktake in 2028, when nearly 200 countries will assess their progress towards curbing climate change and agree tougher measures to avoid escalating warming.
US President Donald Trump last month also ordered the US to withdraw again from the Paris climate agreement and has moved to reverse the Biden administration’s sweeping climate policies.
Meanwhile, billionaire Elon Musk is leading the administration’s attempt to rid the federal government of what he calls wasteful spending and slash the federal workforce, indiscriminately cutting funding for climate-related work and removing employees working on climate science, climate justice and clean energy.
A second statement, published on Friday by the Least Developed Countries, a group of 45 of the world’s most vulnerable nations, said there is no excuse for any delays in the process.
“Any backtracking on this process issue will be seen for what it is, politicisation of science at the expense of vulnerable countries,” they said in a statement.
“People in the developing world have nothing to gain from restricting access to freely available IPCC science.”
The last Paris Agreement stocktake, at the COP28 climate summit in 2023, saw nearly 200 countries agree to transition away from fossil fuels.
That deal was informed by the IPCC’s previous report, which set out the drastic changes humanity had caused to the planet’s climate and the sharp cuts to emissions needed to avoid further disasters.

‘Yellowjackets’ Season 3, Episode 3 Recap: It Wants More
‘Yellowjackets’ Season 3, Episode 3 Recap: It Wants More
And that’s when they wake up, rescued by Ben, who instead of being celebrated, finds himself looking down the barrel of a gun.
The visions are a clever mix of the really silly — the slap bracelet, for instance — and the genuinely terrifying. That’s a mode that also works when you’re talking about the proclivities of teenage girls, whether they are metaphorically or literally cut throat.
The adult plotlines in this episode also carry on this mash-up of tones. The grown-up Yellowjackets are acting more and more childish, which is great for comedy but perhaps bad for everyone around them. Lottie, for instance, is getting close to Callie, taking her on a shopping trip where the shopping is just shoplifting. Although Callie’s mission was to get close to Lottie to ply her for information, Callie seems to be falling under Lottie’s spell. Suspended from school, Callie needs friends, and Lottie is the fun older sister she never had.
This, of course, is maddening to Shauna, who reaches out to Misty to figure out what happened during the sleepover gone awry. Misty, desperately, wants to hang, so she invites Shauna out for scones and then announces she is going to tag along on whatever errands Shauna has to run. Misty thinks they’re having a girls’ day; Shauna just wants to get rid of her. Luckily for Shauna, the outing is cut short when her minivan’s brakes give out and she and Misty are sent careening through New Jersey to the sounds of Limp Bizkit’s “*******,” an absolutely incredible music cue for the moment.
When they finally come to a stop, Shauna’s mean girl comes out. She calls Misty a “verified psycho,” hurting her feelings in the way only people who have known each other as teen girls can.
Adult **** and Adult Van, meanwhile, find themselves regressing in different ways. Yes, they are sitting on the couch watching VHS tapes of “****-wee’s Playhouse,” but they are also leaning into the beliefs they picked up in the forest. Van learns her ******* has stopped spreading, and **** reveals to her that the waiter who chased them when they dined and dashed has died.

Condemned South Carolina killer chooses to be executed by firing squad
Condemned South Carolina killer chooses to be executed by firing squad
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Condemned South Carolina inmate Brad Sigmon has chosen to die next month by a firing squad. He would be the first U.S. inmate shot to death in an execution in 15 years.
Sigmon is scheduled to die March 7. On Friday, he became the first South Carolina inmate to choose the state’s new firing squad over lethal injection or the electric chair.
Only three inmates in the U.S. have been executed by firing squad since 1976. All were in Utah, with the last one taking place in 2010.
Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox
See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories.
Sigmon, 67, will be strapped to a chair and have a hood placed over his head and a target placed over his heart in the death chamber. Three volunteers will fire at him through a small opening about 15 feet (4.6 meters) away.
Lawyers for Sigmon asked to delay his execution date earlier this month because they wanted to learn if the prisoner in South Carolina’s previous execution, Marion Bowman, was given two doses of pentobarbital at his execution on Jan. 31 and look over his autopsy report.
The justices rejected his delay and court records Friday have not indicated if Sigmon’s lawyers have received Bowman’s autopsy report yet.
Sigmon didn’t pick the electric chair because it would “burn and cook him alive,” his attorney Gerald “Bo” King wrote in a statement.
“But the alternative is just as monstrous,” King said. “If he chose lethal injection, he risked the prolonged death suffered by all three of the men South Carolina has executed since September — three men Brad knew and cared for — who remained alive, strapped to a gurney, for more than twenty minutes.”
Sigmon knows it will be a violent death, his lawyer said.
“He does not wish to inflict that pain on his family, the witnesses, or the execution team. But, given South Carolina’s unnecessary and unconscionable secrecy, Brad is choosing as best he can,” King said.
Sigmon was convicted in the 2001 baseball bat killings of his ex-girlfriend’s parents at their home in Greenville County. They were in separate rooms, and Sigmon went back and forth as he beat them to death, investigators said. He then kidnapped his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint, but she escaped from his car. He shot at her as she ran but missed, according to prosecutors.
In a confession, Sigmon said, “I couldn’t have her, I wasn’t going to let anybody else have her.”
Sigmon would be the oldest of the 46 South Carolina inmates who have been executed since the death penalty was restarted in the U.S. in 1976.
Sigmon’s lawyers have one last appeal, asking the state Supreme Court to stop his execution so a hearing can be held on their arguments that Sigmon’s trial lawyers were inexperienced and failed by not stopping his statement to the jury or fully bringing his mental illness or rough family life as a child before the jury as they asked for mercy.
Sigmon’s last chance to spare his life may lie with asking Republican Gov. Henry McMaster to reduce his sentence to life without parole.
His lawyers have said he is a model prisoner trusted by guards who works every day to atone for the killings he committed after succumbing to a severe mental illness. They said executing him would only send the message that South Carolina refused to recognize redemption.
No South Carolina governor has granted clemency in the 49 years since the death penalty restarted.
South Carolina spent about $54,000 in 2022 constructing an area for a firing squad in its death chamber. It won’t be far from the electric chair.
Bulletproof glass was installed on the witness window, a chair with a basin under it to catch blood was installed and a wall was built for the shooters to stand behind. Witnesses will see the profile of the inmate, but not the firing squad.
The state Legislature approved the firing squad after prison officials could not obtain the drugs needed for lethal injections because suppliers refused to sell them if they were publically known. A shield law for privacy was passed later, but the firing squad remained on the books.
Sigmon didn’t choose lethal injection because witnesses to the three previous executions since the state moved to using a massive dose of pentobarbital have said that even though the condemned prisoners appeared to stop breathing and moving in a few minutes, they were not declared dead for at least 20 minutes.
The autopsy report has been released for only one of the executions: Richard Moore, who prison officials say was given two large doses of the sedative pentobarbital 11 minutes apart on Nov. 1.
Freddie Owens, the first inmate killed with the new protocols, refused an autopsy for religious reasons.
Lawyers for Sigmon said Moore’s autopsy showed unusual amounts of fluid in his lungs and an expert suggested he might have felt like he was drowning
Attorneys for the state said the fluid is not unusual for executions by a large dose of pentobarbital and pointed out that witnesses said the inmates killed in South Carolina so far have only been conscious and breathing for about a minute after the executions begin.

Meta approves massive bonuses for executives after broad layoffs
Meta approves massive bonuses for executives after broad layoffs
Meta has offered up a lucrative new executive bonus plan, . Under the new plan, executives could earn a yearly bonus of 200 percent of their base salary, which is up from 75 percent. This comes just after Meta announced sweeping layoffs .
A committee for Meta’s board of directors approved the change on February 13, on the grounds that the “target total cash compensation” for its executives “was at or below the 15th percentile of the target total cash compensation of executives holding similar positions” at rival companies. It’s worth noting that the new bonus plan doesn’t apply to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Don’t worry about his bottom line, however, as he’s worth nearly $250 billion.
Meta has also decided to slash its annual distribution of stock options by around ten percent for thousands of its regular employees, . The exact reduction could differ depending on where the employees live and what they do, but Meta hasn’t commented further on the decision.
As previously noted, Meta is in the process of laying off five percent of its global workforce. This is despite the fact that company shares are up nearly 50 percent over the past year, with a current stock price of around $687 per share. Also, it recently announced that its fourth-quarter revenue grew 21 percent year-over-year to more than $48 billion. The company has in the past couple of years.
“A leaner org will execute its highest priorities faster. People will be more productive, and their work will be more fun and fulfilling,” Zuckerberg said at the tail-end of last year. Nothing says “fun and fulfilling” more than watching your co-workers get laid off while the executives get massive bonuses.
If you’re a current or former Meta employee with thoughts on this new executive bonus structure, hit me up on Signal at LawrenceBonk.96. I’ll ensure that things are kept anonymous.

Apple Intelligence finally arrives on Vision Pro, but it’s the new iOS app that might turn heads
Apple Intelligence finally arrives on Vision Pro, but it’s the new iOS app that might turn heads
Apple’s most expensive piece of consumer hardware is finally getting Apple Intelligence. The latest visionOS 2.4 update, which becomes available as a developer beta today (February 18, 2025), brings Apple’s brand of artificial intelligence to Vision Pro devices, though for now, it’s only for US English devices.
The move instantly helps better position the spatial computing platform against the upcoming Project Moohan headset, a mixed-reality device from Google, Samsung, and Qualcomm that promises to put Google Gemini at the center of the experience. The move by Apple also lowers some frustration from Vision Pro owners who were wondering why Apple’s most advanced consumer technology was lacking a feature that is on all models of the iPhone 16, many iPads, and MacBooks.
As has often been the case with the Apple Intelligence rollout, the update does not include every feature you’ll likely soon find on iOS 18.4-supporting iPhones. However, it does include more than what we got on the initial iPhone Apple Intelligence rollout.
Key new features include:
Writing tools across Vision Pro’s native apps
Genmojis
Image Playground
ChatGPT access
Image 1 of 4
Genmojis in Vision Pro(Image credit: Apple)
Movie Memories in Vision Pro(Image credit: Apple)
Image Playground in Vision Pro(Image credit: Apple)
Writing Tools in Vision Pro(Image credit: Apple)
More importantly, these features will integrate with Vision Pro’s native functions, including voice and gestures.
What’s missing here is any kind of Siri update beyond the current digital assistant features, an exclusion that might frustrate some. On the other hand, now that Apple has opened the door to the Apple Intelligence on Vision Pro, numerous updates are sure to follow.
So, whatever Siri features you see in the iPhone 16 with iOS 18.4, they’re sure to eventually arrive on Vision Pro. We’d look forward to seeing a version that is aware of activities on the mixed reality headset and can take intelligent action based on what it sees through the device’s multiple cameras and sensors (something that we expect from Project Moohan, whenever it finally ships).
Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.
With the visionOS 2.4 update, users will be able to use voice prompts to request writing changes like, “Make it more friendly,” and they’ll get rewriting and proofreading assistance. Image Playground will be integrated into Messages, just like iOS. Smart Replies will be able to look at the contents of a message thread and create a contextual response. And you’ll be able to use voice prompts to create Movie Memories. Those obviously exist on the iPhone but may take on a new dimension thanks to the Vision Pro’s immersive field of view.
Ease and access
The new Vision Pro app on the iPhone (Image credit: Apple)
Apple is also making several other changes to better connect your iPhone and Vison Pro experiences. The most notable one might be the new Vision Pro App on iOS, a utility that Apple arguably should have delivered when it launched the headset over a year ago.
Think of the app as similar in some ways to the iPhone Watch App.
The Vision Pro app acts as both a promotional tool for fresh Vision Pro content and spatial experiences but also a place where you can take remote actions. You can, for instance, use the app to add movies to watchlists, trigger app downloads, and learn details about your headset, like serial number, software version, and the prescription for your Zeiss lens inserts (if you have them). The app is set to arrive with iOS 18.4 and only installs if the system knows you have a Vision Pro.
Apple seems to be doing a lot of work to widen the Vision Pro tent. To that end, Guest Mode gets a valuable update that should ease the sharing process. With visionOS 2.4, Vision Pro owners can simply hand someone their Vision Pro. When the guest puts it on, a message appears on the Vision Pro owner’s iPhone or iPad, letting them enable sharing from there and choose which apps to share.
Inside Vision Pro, users will find a new Spatial Gallery app offering curated spatial content, including photos, videos, and panoramas, cutting across multiple genres like sports, entertainment, and travel.
Without a doubt, this is one of Vision Pro’s most significant upgrades, and much of it is designed to help the headset better compete with upcoming devices from Google, Samsung, Meta, and others. None of it addresses the hefty $3,499.99 price tag, but at least there are now even more good reasons to make the investment.

The Dow dropped 500 points on Friday afternoon as the Justice Department’s investigation into UnitedHealth weighed on the market. Additionally, a weaker-than-expected U.S. housing sales report added to the pressure, with high prices and mortgage rates contributing to the slowdown. According to the National Association of Realtors, sales of previously owned homes fell 4.9% in January compared to the previous month, much worse than the anticipated 2.6% decline.
In the afternoon, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 496 points, or 1.1%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq and S&P 500 dropped 1.1% and 0.9%, respectively.
Notable market movers on Friday included UnitedHealth, Alibaba, Celsius, Block, Dropbox, and others.
UnitedHealth Group (UNH) is under fire over its Medicare billing practices. The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched a civil fraud investigation into how the company records diagnoses that lead to extra payments for its Medicare Advantage plans.
UnitedHealth stock fell almost 9% following the news.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) plans to drop its enforcement case against Coinbase, marking a significant shift in cryptocurrency regulation.
Following the announcement, Coinbase’s (COIN) shares rose in the morning but declined in the afternoon. The SEC had accused Coinbase of operating an unregistered securities exchange and offering unregistered securities.

Overwatch 2 Loot Box Update Is an Instant Hit But Blizzard Must Exercise Caution For 1 Game-breaking Reason
Overwatch 2 Loot Box Update Is an Instant Hit But Blizzard Must Exercise Caution For 1 Game-breaking Reason
Blizzard has finally released Overwatch 2‘s Season 15, and gamers are all hyped up thanks to brand-new features. However, one thing that veteran players of the franchise, and even new ones, have welcomed is the return of Loot Boxes. It’s almost better than what we had before.
Overwatch 2 is making waves in the community again. (Image via Blizzard Entertainment)
The developers have finally brought back Loot Boxes in Overwatch 2, and gamers can finally get their hands on the hero-shooter’s top-tier cosmetics. So far, players have been enjoying the system and feel that many other rewards in the game should be replaced with Loot Boxes. However, Blizzard must carefully approach this as it makes every match a nightmare.
Blizzard must carefully expand Loot Box rewards in Overwatch 2
Overwatch 2 Season 15 has finally brought back Loot Boxes. (Image via Blizzard Entertainment)
Getting your hands on Loot Boxes in Overwatch 2 can be quite easy, as they can be obtained from Twitch Drops, Battle Passes, weekly quests, and events. Gamers can even earn Loot Boxes by finishing certain unique challenges in Season 15.
Blizzard wants to push Overwatch 2 players, and the more they play, the more Loot Boxes they earn. However, some in the community are hoping for new ways to earn them. Over on the hero shooter’s official subreddit, one player has suggested that Loot Boxes could be added as a reward for playing a specific role instead of 500 battle XP.
On the surface, one might think that with this idea, Blizzard could encourage role diversity and give players what they want the most: more Loot Boxes. However, there is a big downside to this idea, as it could lead to a rise in the number of players who simply ****** for matches and have no intentions of playing properly.
Rewarding Loot Boxes for playing specific roles will simply lead to gamers just jumping into matches for farming rewards. There’s already a huge outrage in the community that Overwatch 2 needs to punish gamers who throw matches or poorly coordinate with their teammates.
Such an idea could make things even more horrible and further degrade the quality of matches, leading to frustration for those who simply want to play the game. Even if Blizzard is ready to bring Loot Boxes to play different roles, there need to be some sort of restrictions.
Overwatch 2 has a new mysterious currency
There’s a new currency in Overwatch 2. (Image via Blizzard Entertainment)
With Overwatch 2‘s latest season, we have received not only Loot Boxes but also game-changing Perks. The update has proven to be a smash hit and led to the hero shooter’s rating on Steam going up from the worst-reviewed title on the platform.
However, something that’s been added to Overwatch 2 that can’t be found in patch notes is a brand-new currency. When you take a look at the Hero Gallery in Overwatch 2, there’s a currency called “Hard Light Crystals” that can be spotted in the Edit Filters menu.
Currently, this mysterious in-game currency is not linked to any cosmetics. We don’t know what the purpose behind it is or if it can be earned in the first place.
Reports from Overwatch Cavalry suggest that Hard Light Crystals are supposed to be used to purchase Loot Boxes tied to China, as the game has finally made a comeback to the region. However, Blizzard or NetEase games still haven’t stated anything officially on this subject.
With that said, do you think there’s any other mode or way through which Overwatch 2 can reward more Loot Boxes? Let us know in the comments below.

Apple withdraws encrypted iCloud storage from *** after government demands ‘back door’ access
Apple withdraws encrypted iCloud storage from *** after government demands ‘back door’ access
Apple has withdrawn from providing its *** smartphone and computer users with encrypted cloud storage following a secret government order to require the company to provide back-door access to encrypted data.
The tech firm confirmed it will no longer offer *** users its Advanced Data Protection (ADP) service which allows users to store data in encrypted form on Apple’s iCloud service.
The decision is likely to expose people in the *** using Apple services to greater risk of cyber threat and they will no longer have the ability to fully encrypt their personal data on Apple’s iCloud, though the service will remain available elsewhere in the world.
The move by Apple is designed to head off demands by the Home Office to require Apple to provide a “back door” to give law enforcement and other government agencies access to encrypted data stored by any of its customers worldwide.
Demands by the Home Office to access encrypted data belonging to Apple users throughout the world caused ructions in the US when the US Congress accused the *** of “a foreign cyber attack waged through political means” and led calls for the *** to be thrown out of the Five Eyes intelligence sharing network
“As we have said many times before, we have never built a ********* or master key to any of our products or services and we never will,” Apple said, in a statement.
“Apple can no longer offer Advanced Data Protection (ADP) in the United Kingdom to new users and current *** users will eventually need to disable this security feature. ADP protects iCloud data with end-to-end encryption, which means the data can only be decrypted by the user who owns it, and only on their trusted devices.”
The company said securing cloud storage through encryption was more urgent than ever given the growing number of security and data breaches.
“We are gravely disappointed that the protections provided by ADP will not be available to our customers in the *** given the continuing rise of data breaches and other threats to customer privacy,” Apple added.
“Enhancing the security of cloud storage with end-to-end encryption is more urgent than ever before. Apple remains committed to offering our users the highest level of security for their personal data and are hopeful that we will be able to do so in the future in the United Kingdom.”
Users in the *** who have not already enabled ADP will no longer be able to do so, Apple confirmed.
Apple’s decision means the nine iCloud data categories covered by ADP will be protected by standard data protection, and *** users will not have a choice to benefit from end-to-end encryption for these categories: iCloud Backup; iCloud Drive; Photos; Notes; Reminders; Safari Bookmarks; Siri Shortcuts; Voice Memos; Wallet Passes; and Freeform.
Withdrawing ADP from the *** will not affect the 14 iCloud data categories that are end-to-end encrypted by default. Data such as iCloud Keychain and Health remain protected with full end-to-end encryption. Apple said communication services like iMessage and FaceTime remain end-to-end encrypted globally, including in the ***.
For users in the *** who already enabled ADP, Apple said it will provide additional guidance. Apple cannot disable ADP automatically for these users – instead, *** users will be given a ******* of time to disable the feature themselves to keep using their iCloud account.
ADP continues to be available everywhere else in the world.
Matthew Hodgson, CEO of Element, a secure communications platform used by governments, said it’s not a surprise to see Apple switch off end-to-end encrypted for iCloud in the ***.
“[Apple] had no choice. You cannot offer a secure service and then ********* it – because it’s no longer a secure service,” he said.
According to Element research, 83% of *** citizens want the highest level of security and privacy possible, “yet the *** government has just put Apple’s *** customers’ data at risk,” added Hodgson.
“It is impossible to have a safe ********* into an encrypted system. Time and again it has been proven that any such point of entry is exploited by bad actors,” he said.
“Salt Typhoon is the current and obvious example, which has seen law enforcement backdoors in the US public telephone network being hijacked by a cyber attack group believed to be operated by the ******** government. The US is urging its citizens to use end-to-end encrypted services. Simultaneously we’re witnessing the *** undermining end-to-end encryption – a key part of the nation’s cyber security.”
Earlier this month, over 100 cyber security experts, companies and civil society groups signed a letter calling for home secretary Yvette Cooper to drop demands for Apple to create a ********* into its encrypted iCloud service.
The experts warned that the ***’s move to create a ********* into people’s personal data jeopardises the security and privacy of millions of people, undermines the *** tech sector and sets a dangerous precedent for global cyber security.

Block shares head for worst day in 5 years after earnings miss
Block shares head for worst day in 5 years after earnings miss
Marco Bello | AFP | Getty Images
Block shares plunged 16% on Friday and headed for their steepest drop since 2020 after the company reported fourth-quarter earnings that missed estimates and issued guidance for 2025 that failed to reassure investors.
In its financial report late Thursday, Block reported earnings of 71 cents per share, falling short of the average analyst estimate of 87 cents, according to LSEG. Revenue of $6.03 billion also missed expectations of $6.29 billion. The company posted $2.31 billion in gross profit for the quarter, a 14% increase year-over-year, but slightly below consensus estimates.
Competition is stiffening in the market for payments systems to small and medium-sized businesses. Analysts at Morgan Stanley noted that Square continues to lose market share to Toast, Fiserv’s Clover and Shift4. Analysts also pointed to the flattening user growth at Cash App as a concern.
Block reiterated its full-year 2025 outlook of at least 15% gross profit growth.
Square’s payment volume increased nearly 10% from a year ago, boosted by a 13% increase in the food and beverage sector. Retail transactions climbed 8%. Deutsche Bank highlighted Square’s renewed focus on industry-specific sales teams, particularly in those two areas, along with new distribution deals with T-Mobile, U.S. Foods, and SalonCentric.
Cash App remains a primary growth driver, with gross profit rising 16% year-over-year in the quarter to $1.38 billion, topping estimates. However, monthly transacting users remained at 57 million for the fourth consecutive quarter.
The company has been gradually expanding Cash App Borrow, a short-term credit offering, and integrating buy now, pay later functionality into the Cash App Card through its Afterpay acquisition.
Barclays analysts wrote in a report that while Block has a “constructive setup” for long-term growth, the turnaround has been messier than expected, with 2025 improvements not likely until the back half of the year.
CEO Jack Dorsey sought to reassure investors on the earnings call, emphasizing that Block is positioned for long-term success through continued integration of its financial services products, including Cash App, Square and its Bitcoin initiatives.
“This year is going to be one of unexpected upside,” Dorsey said, pointing to the company’s new Bitcoin mining system, Proto, which is set to launch in the second half of 2025.

Google’s Pixel 9 Pro is $200 off, plus the rest of the week’s best tech deals
Google’s Pixel 9 Pro is $200 off, plus the rest of the week’s best tech deals
The Pixel 9 Pro is the top Android pick in our guide to the best smartphones, and we gave it a score of 94 in our review last year. It has just about all the key features we’ve come to enjoy from the Pixel series: top-notch cameras, a handsome design and a (relatively) clean version of Android that’s guaranteed to receive updates until 2031. Its 6.3-inch OLED display is appropriately vivid and supports a fast 120Hz refresh rate, while its Tensor G4 chip and 16GB of RAM keep everything running smooth without overheating. The battery is hefty enough to last through a full day, too, though we wish the phone could charge a bit faster than 27W, and Google’s barrage of AI features is still hit or miss.
This $200 drop ties the largest cash discount we’ve seen for the unlocked 128GB model. Google says the deal will run until February 22. Also at the Google Store, Target and Best Buy. Note that you can save a bit more at Google and Best Buy by trading in an older phone, though exactly how much cash you’ll get back depends on the device.
If you want a cheaper Pixel phone, the older Pixel 8 is also on ***** for $399 at Amazon and Best Buy. This one has worse battery life, a less refined design and a less efficient processor than the Pixel 9 Pro but still gets you excellent cameras, helpful software and a quality OLED display. It’s worth grabbing over the newer Pixel 8a when the two are available for the same price, as it supports faster charging speeds (27W vs. 18W) and still feels more premium in the hand. Do note, though, that Google is rumored to announce a new Pixel 9a phone in the coming weeks, so it might be worth waiting if you don’t need a new phone right away.

Mum says she could not identify murdered daughter
Mum says she could not identify murdered daughter

Vikat Bhagat was found guilty of raping and murdering Danielle McLaughlin and sentenced to life imprisonment earlier this month
The mother of an Irish woman ****** and murdered in India almost eight years ago has spoken of how her daughter was so seriously injured in the attack that she was not able to identify her.
Danielle McLaughlin, 28, from Buncrana in County Donegal, was found dead in a field in the western state of Goa in March 2017.
Vikat Bhagat was found guilty of raping and murdering Ms McLaughlin and sentenced to life imprisonment earlier this month.
“I could never see her face…he left Danielle (in such a way) that Danielle could never be identified,” Ms McLaughlin’s mother Andrea Brannigan said.
Warning: This page contains distressing details
Ms Brannigan said she had gone to see her daughter after she had been brought home with the help of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
“It didn’t work but they did try. And it’s something I’ll always be grateful for. But I could never view her… I could never see her face,” Ms Brannigan said.
“You’ve always doubts then… I wonder was it her. Days you would have doubts – are you sure its definitely her.”
‘I could see no remorse’
Andrea Brannigan said her daughter’s killer showed ‘no remorse’
Ms McLaughlin was identified by hair colour and by a distinctive tattoo, her mother said.
She had been left unrecognisable by her killer who used a rock and bottle during a brutal assault, her mother added.
A second post mortem examination found brain damage and strangulation as the cause of death.
Danielle’s family sat beside Bahgat during court proceedings.
“That was hard. I could see no remorse,” she told BBC News NI.
Ms Brannigan added: “I’ve no feelings for him because he doesn’t deserve my feelings. Only Danielle does.”
She hopes he is never released, and that “no family or friends ever go through the pain that we’re going through because he robbed the world of beauty and of somebody who was going to do a lot of good in this world.”

Danielle’s sister Jolene McLaughlin Brannigan (left) and mother Andrea Brannigan (centre) travelled to Goa for the verdict
Danielle was the eldest of six daughters, her mum said, adding she doted on all her siblings, and they all looked up to her.
Ms McLaughlin travelled to India in February 2017.
She was there for two weeks before she was murdered.
The Liverpool John Moores University student had been staying in a beach hut with an *********** friend.
The pair had been celebrating Holi, a Hindu festival, in a nearby village.
She left the village at night and her body was found the next day by a local farmer in an isolated spot.
McLaughlin family
Danielle, who grew up in County Donegal, travelled to India in February 2017
People always remembered the psychology and sociology student’s “big smile and infectious laugh,” her mother said.
Danielle had struggled in childhood with dyslexia, Ms Brannigan said, but had loved writing in her diaries and grew up to be “a brilliant friend and an amazing sister”.
“The girls miss her terrible. I miss Danielle as I used to go to her with all my problems. I miss talking to her. We talked every day.”
Danielle’s sister, Joleen McLaughlin Brannigan, read a statement outside court following Bhagat’s conviction
Danielle’s mum said she was “a free spirt” who had loved travelling in Australia and India – where she had helped to build schools and also volunteered in an orphanage.
“She trusted everybody,” Ms Brannigan said.
“That would be part of the reason why this happened because she did trust everybody.”
He family now hold on to the “many happy memories” and want the world to know of Danielle’s genrousity and kindness.
“She was always so kind. She was kind up until she passed away. She didn’t see evil,” Ms Brannigan said.”
***** victims cannot usually be named under Indian law. Their identities are often hidden in a bid to protect them from being shunned in society.
In this case, Ms McLaughlin’s family have spoken to the media to raise awareness of her case.

Hims & Hers shares fall after FDA says semaglutide no longer in shortage
Hims & Hers shares fall after FDA says semaglutide no longer in shortage
Products of Hims & Hers displayed.
Hims & Hers
Shares of Hims & Hers Health tumbled more than 23% on Friday after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that the shortage of semaglutide injection products has been resolved.
Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Novo Nordisk’s blockbuster weight loss drugs Wegovy and diabetes treatment Ozempic. Those medications are part of a class of drugs called GLP-1s, and demand for the treatments has exploded in recent years. As a result, digital health companies like Hims & Hers have been prescribing compounded semaglutide as an alternative for patients who are navigating volatile supply hurdles and insurance obstacles.
Compounded drugs are custom-made alternatives to brand-name drugs designed to meet a specific patient’s needs, and they can be produced when brand-name treatments are in shortage. The FDA doesn’t review the safety and efficacy of compounded products.
Hims & Hers began offering compounded semaglutide to patients in May, and it owns compounding pharmacies that produce the medications.
Compounded medications are typically much cheaper than their branded counterparts. Hims & Hers sells compounded semaglutide for less than $200 while Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic and Wegovy both cost around $1,000 without insurance.
The FDA said Friday that it will start taking action against compounders for violations in the next 60 to 90 days, depending on the type of facility, in order to “avoid unnecessary disruption to patient treatment.”
“Now that the FDA has determined the drug shortage for semaglutide has been resolved, we will continue to offer access to personalized treatments as allowed by law to meet patient needs,” Hims & Hers CEO Andrew Dudum posted on X Friday. “We’re also closely monitoring potential future shortages, as Novo Nordisk stated two weeks ago that it would continue to have ‘capacity limitations’ and ‘expected continued periodic supply constraints and related drug shortage notifications.'”
The company’s weight loss offerings have been a massive hit with investors. Shares of the company climbed more than 200% last year, and the stock is already up more than 100% this year despite Friday’s move.
Even before adding compounded GLP-1s to its portfolio, the company said in its 2023 fourth-quarter earnings call that it expects its weight loss program to bring in more than $100 million in revenue by the end of 2025.
Despite the turbulent regulatory landscape, Hims & Hers has showed no signs of slowing down.
On Friday, the company announced it has acquired a U.S.-based peptide facility that will ” further verticalize the company’s long-term ability to deliver personalized medications.” Hims & Hers will explore advances across metabolic optimization, recovery science, biological resistances, cognitive performance and preventative health through the acquisition, the company said.
That move comes just days after Hims & Hers also bought Trybe Labs, the New Jersey-based at-home lab testing facility. Trybe Labs will allow Hims & Hers to perform at-home blood draws and more comprehensive pretreatment testing.
Hims & Hers did not disclose the terms of either deal.

What to Watch TV Reviews: Suits LA, Dope Girls, RHOS, Rogue Heroes and Gardening Australia
What to Watch TV Reviews: Suits LA, Dope Girls, RHOS, Rogue Heroes and Gardening Australia
Suits LAMonday, streaming on 7Plus
Full disclosure: I’ve never seen the appeal of Suits, the legal drama that ran from 2011 to 2019 before famously landing on Netflix in 2023, gaining a legions of new fans in the process. For me it was a case of: seen it all before, but done better.
But US network NBC knows a dollar sign when it sees one, and off the back of renewed interest, scrambled to develop the franchise further and voila, Suits LA was born.
The show’s original creator, Aaron Korsh, is at the helm of this one too, and if the first episode is anything to go by, it has set itself up for more of the same — this time with bonus LA.
There’s a new firm, and a new firm’s worth of new lawyer types in suits, whose lives are ripe for the unravelling — fans will enjoy getting to know them all. All the archetypes are there, and Stephen Amell, who leads the cast as Ted ******, a ruthless former Federal prosecutor from New York who’s remade his life on the west side, is immediately compelling. He’s at a major crossroads and on the brink of seeing his firm merge with another. Suffice to say, things don’t go according to plan.
Cue Machiavellian lawyer types doing Machiavellian lawyer type things!
Will people flock en masse to this iteration as well? As someone who never understood the attraction to begin with, I’m not best qualified to answer this. But I will admit: it’s off to a strong start, the characters are instantly recognisable and there’s something for OG fans in the promised return of Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter (reportedly only back for three eps at this stage).
This is more of the same mindless, by-the-book stuff — which is to say, fans will probably love it.
Hard pass from me.
Dope GirlsStreaming now on StanCamera IconDope Girls is streaming on Stan. Credit: Stan
This takes its inspiration from the non-fiction book Dope Girls: The Birth Of The British Drug Underground. It tells the story of Kate Galloway (Julianne Nicholson), a widowed single mum who finds herself in Soho just as World War I is finishing up and the armistice is being celebrated, so it’s wild times on the streets of London. By necessity, she finds a way to support herself, establishing a nightclub and ******** empire — love that for her. This intriguing series is worth a look.
The Real Housewives Of SydneyTuesday, streaming on Foxtel and BingeCamera IconThe Real Housewives Of Sydney returns to Binge and Foxtel. Credit: Supplied
“My life is a fairytale, but this princess does not need saving.” As taglines go, that’s a pretty decent one for the show’s newest recruit, housewife Martine Chippendale, who joins the cast of RHOS this season. She’s an ethereal glamazon who lives in a ginormous Harbour-front mansion next door to Victoria and, honestly, she’s a breath of fresh air! Will the others chew her up and ***** her out? Watch this space.

If you’ve not yet discovered this excellent series from Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight all about the formation of the SAS during World War II, hurry up! Honestly, it’s one of the best things on TV. Series two picks up in 1943 and sees Jack O’Connell’s Paddy Mayne now stepping up to lead his rag-tag bunch of men (their old boss has become a prisoner of war). They’re off storming the beaches of Sicily, risking life and limb for King and country. It’s a rollicking good time.

If you know anything of my televisual proclivities, you’ll know Gardening Australia is right up there with my all-time faves. Season 36 — yes, there really have been that many — sees the team coming in hot with fresh inspo and stacks of ideas on how to get your tired, summer garden ready for the months to come. Over in Perth, Josh is exploring native annuals — these bad boys are primed to survive our scorching hot summers.

Shotgun Cop Man Is My Friend Pedro Dev’s New Game About Arresting Satan
Shotgun Cop Man Is My Friend Pedro Dev’s New Game About Arresting Satan
The developer behind My Friend Pedro has revealed its new game, Shotgun Cop Man, for PC and Nintendo Switch. In this game, Shotgun Cop Man must travel to hell and arrest Satan.
Shotgun Cop Man’s main mechanic revolves around propelling the titular character using firearms across levels and platforms. Its simplistic and minimalist art style complements its chaotic gameplay, allowing players to keep track of incoming bullets while also leaving room for players to make last-minute decisions on how to evade them. Solo dev DeadToast Entertainment said that adding on extra visual flair only increased “cognitive load,” leading to a decrease in gameplay flow.
“I mentioned earlier the simplicity of the shotgun-propelling being something that spoke to me. And I wanted to stick with that word, simplicity, and try to make a game where I could strip away or minimize anything that wasn’t contributing to that core flowy feel and experience,” DeadToast explained. “Hence the minimalist look and straightforward nature of the game.”
Shotgun Cop Man also includes a level editor, which was one of My Friend Pedro’s most-requested features. All of Shotgun Cop Man’s levels are built with the same level-editor tools that players will have access to in the full release through Steam Workshop. There will also be No Damage and Speedrun modes for hardcore players.
The game will cost $10 when it launches on PC and Switch later this year, but a demo is now available on Steam. It contains 17 levels for players to go through. It wasn’t revealed whether Shotgun Cop Man would get PlayStation and Xbox releases, but My Friend Pedro eventually came to all platforms, so it’s possible that Shotgun Cop Man will too.
It’s also possible that Shotgun Cop Man will be playable on Switch 2, but it’s currently unclear what the upcoming system’s backwards compatibility limitations are.

Tribute bench reunited with family after remarkable sea journey
Tribute bench reunited with family after remarkable sea journey
BBC
Bill Batcock’s family were able to reclaim the bench after its remarkable journey
The family of man whose much-loved tribute bench was swept out to sea during a storm have been reunited with the treasured seat after it resurfaced 80 miles (128km) away.
Storm Darragh ripped the bench erected in memory of Bill Batcock from its base on Anglesey in December – only for it to wash up months later on a beach in Cumbria.
Local people who tracked down his family using an inscription left on the wooden seat have now returned it to them after holding on to the bench for safekeeping.
Mr Batcock’s daughter Helen Wharton said he would have found the story “hilarious, because he was a joker who loved life”.
A lover of the outdoors, Mr Batcock had asked his family to put the bench up on headland at Bull Bay on Anglesey.
“He was a fan of the sea, he loved a bit of an adventure, and he has seen an opportunity and go off on an other one,” Ms Wharton said.
Only the backrest remained from the bench that was swept 80 miles up coast by the Irish Sea
Ms Wharton met the local people who had helped track down his family on Friday on Drigg beach near Seascale in Cumbria, the beach where the bench washed up.
The bench has been returned to her seven years to the day her father died, which was “quite surreal”, Ms Wharton said.
Shaun Davis found the bench on Drigg beach near Seascale, which until closer inspection he said he thought was “a bit of driftwood”.
He posted a picture on local Facebook group, before Megan O’Gorman used the information to track down the family and was there to hand it back to them.
She said: “Who doesn’t love a good story like this.”
