Monster Hunter Wilds Review (PS5) – Into A New Generation And New Horizons – PSU
PSU: “Endlessly ambitious and full of detail, Monster Hunter: Wilds manages to deliver on everything that it sets out to do and then some. I have complete faith in Capcom to keep building off of this launch as one of their strongest foundations yet. Putting the game down genuinely seems like an impossibility with just how much there is to do. The wait has been long and tense, but Capcom haven’t missed the mark with their latest and arguably, greatest.”

Red-hot Roma pile more misery on bottom side Monza
Red-hot Roma pile more misery on bottom side Monza
Roma have beaten last-placed Monza 4-0 to extend their unbeaten Serie A run to 10 games and deepen the Lombardy club’s already serious relegation fears.
The win on Monday (Tuesday AEDT) will delight Roma coach Claudio Ranieri, who has watched his charges put together the best run of form in the league in 2025.
Roma have taken 20 of a possible 24 points since the turn of the year, a run anchored by the best defence in the league over the same *******.
The home side went ahead in the 10th minute through Alexis Saelemaekers.
Three teammates lined up expecting a cross, but the Belgian winger cut inside from the right and curled a fine shot into the far corner.
Uzbek striker Eldor Shomurodov doubled Roma’s lead after Matias Soule Malvano twisted and turned inside the box, before the unmarked Shomurodov headed home.
Spanish fullback Angelino made it 3-0 18 minutes from time with a low drive, and Bryan Cristante added a fourth three minutes from time with a glancing header from a corner.
The defeat left Monza three points adrift at the bottom of Serie A.

Russia’s Putin outlines aluminium, rare earth deals with the US
MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s President Vladimir Putin offered the U.S. the opportunity for joint exploration of the country’s rare earth metals deposits, as well as the supply of aluminum to the U.S. domestic market, outlining a future economic deal between the two countries.
U.S. President Donald Trump earlier said that “major economic development transactions with Russia” would take place. Within two hours of Trump’s statement, Putin chaired a meeting with his ministers and economic advisers on rare earth metals.
“We, by the way, would be ready to offer our American partners, and when I say ‘partners,’ I mean not only administrative and governmental structures but also companies, if they showed interest in joint work,” Putin said on state TV after the meeting.

“We undoubtedly have, I want to emphasize, significantly more resources of this kind than Ukraine,” Putin added. He mentioned that a potential U.S.-Ukraine deal involving rare earth metals is not a concern for Russia.
He noted that Russian companies could supply up to 2 million tons of aluminum to the U.S. market annually if the U.S. market reopens. Russia used to provide around 15% of U.S. aluminum imports before prohibitive duties were introduced in 2023.
“This (Russian aluminium supplies) will not significantly affect price formation. However, in my opinion, it would still have a restraining influence on prices,” Putin said.
Putin suggested that Russia and the U.S. could work jointly on hydropower generation and aluminum production in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk region in Siberia, which is the home base for Russia’s largest aluminum maker, Rusal.
“What is most important, in my opinion, is that we could consider working together with American companies in this area,” Putin concluded.
In a transcript posted by the Kremlin, Putin said rare earths were a priority sector for Russia’s economic development and competitiveness.
Putin said the government sought to “boost the potential of the domestic industry” extending from extraction to “manufacture of ready-made high-technology goods.”
“Based on the results of the national project, the volume of output of such goods should increase several times over,” he said.

Big tech companies turn to hydrogen to power AI data centers
Big tech companies turn to hydrogen to power AI data centers
Yuval Bachar knows data centers. He’s worked on them for Meta, Microsoft and Cisco, but now, his startup is looking to help Silicon Valley run data centers with lower carbon dioxide emissions.
ECL, Bachar’s startup, builds hydrogen-powered data centers.
Hydrogen is a novel energy source for data centers that is more eco-friendly, and more importantly for tech companies that need to quickly expand their infrastructure, data centers running on hydrogen can be placed into service in half the time that it takes to construct data centers that connect to the grid, Bachar said.
There’s one of these hydrogen-powered data centers, with a measly 1-megawatt capacity, next to ECL’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. Twice a month, a diesel truck hauls in hydrogen in a tank from Southern California or northern Nevada. The hydrogen mainly derives from natural gas, which is the top energy source for electricity in the U.S.
Bachar and others developing technologies that can fuel data centers with minimal emissions discuss their work in a new CNBC documentary, which you can watch above.
Since OpenAI released ChatGPT in 2022, Amazon, Google, Microsoft and other companies have been racing to open data centers that can handle generative artificial intelligence. These buildings are typically filled with power-hungry Nvidia graphics processing units. GPUs are the standard for training and running large language models that produce impressive chunks of text with a few words of human input. Executives across industries have seen what ChatGPT can do, and now they want to infuse generative AI into their products and internal operations, sometimes with hopes of boosting productivity.
If your data center doesn’t have enough power for GPUs today, then executives will look elsewhere. Bachar knows that. It’s a big part of his pitch.
He likes to say that utilities in some places, such as California and Virginia, can’t help you right now if you want a lot of power for a data center. OpenAI’s Sam Altman has invested hundreds of millions in nuclear startups, but they won’t be ready to deliver energy for years, Bachar said.
After establishing ECL in 2021, Bachar has signed up two paying customers, with several other organizations that have placed orders for future delivery.
“It’s the Microsofts, Facebooks, Amazons and Googles of the world … which require all of this technology to be placed somewhere, and right now, somewhere is nowhere,” said Bachar, explaining that traditional data centers in the U.S. can’t be easily repurposed to work with AI.
ECL has plans to operate its sites efficiently, but as of now, it’s tiny, with 10 employees and 18 contractors. That’s much smaller than Altman’s nuclear fusion investment, Helion, and the fission startup he backed, Oklo. Together the two employ nearly 600 people, representatives said.
Microsoft has committed to working with Helion, and the software company also signed a power purchase agreement in September to restart a nuclear reactor at Pennsylvania’s Three Mile Island that shut down in 2019.
Nuclear installations inherently prompt questions about safety and the handling of waste, but their carbon-free status makes them attractive. Amazon, Google and Oracle have all explored small modular reactors with lower capacity than the ones at Three Mile Island.
Last Energy Founder and CEO Bret Kugelmass shows CNBC a full-scale prototype of the start-up’s small modular reactor in Washington, DC, on January 8, 2025.
Magdalena Petrova
The big tech companies are carefully watching their emissions in the AI age.
By 2030, Google wants to have net-zero emissions while Microsoft’s goal is to be carbon negative by that year. Amazon has pledged to reach net-zero carbon by 2040.
“We’re working with major tech companies, as well as various industrial players, to help them integrate our plug and play solution for on-site power generation into data centers,” said Bret Kugelmass, founder and CEO of Last Energy, a Washington startup working on small modular reactors.
Bachar is fascinated with nuclear energy, but he said getting more of those facilities online will take time.
“We have a problem that we have to solve right now,” he said.
In addition to his nuclear investments, OpenAI’s Altman has bet on solar startup Exowatt. It has partners developing data centers that are consuming more than half of the energy available in their states in some locations, co-founder and CEO Hannan Happi said.
Geothermal energy has also garnered fresh interest in the modern AI era, with Google collaborating with startup Fervo Energy in Nevada. Tim Latimer, the startup’s CEO, said Fervo has found a way to generate gigawatts of electricity in a single place by drilling horizontal holes underground, rather than the traditional vertical way.
Gigawatts are a serious quantity, but drilling holes for geothermal plants can be expensive, said Adrian Cockcroft, a former Amazon sustainability executive.
ECL intends to build a large-scale, 1-gigawatt data center in Texas over the next four years, with the help of hydrogen pipelines. It will probably take that long to move to zero-carbon green hydrogen using electrolyzers that convert water into hydrogen and oxygen, Bachar said.
But generating green hydrogen through electrolysis isn’t cheap, said Kittu Kolluri, managing director of Neotribe Ventures.
The price of green hydrogen is to be determined, especially now that Donald Trump is U.S. president again, Bachar said.
Still, every gigawatt matters.
In 2028, U.S. data center demand could come in between 74 gigawatts and 132 gigawatts, according to a December report from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Data centers might account for 6.7% to 12% of total U.S. energy consumption in 2028, up from 4.4% in 2023, the report said.
“The concern we have is can we grow fast enough to address the unprecedented demand for AI data centers,” Bachar said.

*** ‘fooled’ by faith in international law, says Badenoch
*** ‘fooled’ by faith in international law, says Badenoch
Sam Francis
Political reporter
PA Media
The *** has been “fooled” into believing international law alone can keep global peace, according to Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch.
In a speech on Tuesday, Badenoch will say the *** should “review” its foreign policy strategy and put British interests first.
Badenoch hinted last week that she may advocate for pulling the *** out of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR).
She will be making her speech during a key week for international diplomacy, with both Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron travelling to the White House to discuss the war in Ukraine and smooth relations with the Trump administration.
Badenoch will say on Tuesday that “the world has changed”, leaving the *** “not ready” to deal with modern crises.
The Conservative leader will argue the *** must also change and act in its national interest by protecting “its borders, its values and its people”.
“Strengthening Britain must be the principal objective at the heart of everything we do,” she will say.
“We have let ourselves be fooled into believing that international law alone can keep the peace” when “faced with a regime with no respect for the law”.
Her speech will be delivered a day after a series of international events to mark the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Discussions around peace talks have rapidly evolved over the past week after US President Donald Trump opened negotiations with Russia, in a meeting which excluded Ukraine.
President Trump has said he wants a quick end to the war and has claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin also wants to reach a deal.
Meanwhile, there has been a deepening rift between Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky.
Zelensky has accused the US president of helping Russia “break out of years of isolation” before Trump turned his ire on the Ukrainian leader, calling him a “dictator” and suggesting his country started the war.
On Thursday, Sir Keir will visit the White House to make the case for Ukraine’s direct involvement in any peace talks, warning that an insecure settlement without security guarantees for Kyiv could embolden Russia to attack again.
The prime minister also signalled a shift in the government’s approach to bringing about peace, including stepping up *** military support and taking a ******* role in Europe’s security.
Trump has been putting pressure on European Nato allies to increase their defence spending.
In her speech, Badenoch will also advocate for further investment in defence and argue the government “must do what it takes to protect Britain”.
The Conservatives ran on a manifesto pledge to increase defence spending from 2.3% to 2.5% of GDP by 2030, but in recent days have pressed Labour to go further.
“There will be painful decisions on government spending,” Badenoch will say.
“Any country that spends more interest on its debt than on defence, as the *** does today, is destined for weakness.”
Badenoch will also reiterate her position that international courts are being used by charities and other organisations “to advance an activist political agenda”.
The ECHR is a central part of *** human rights law and has been used to halt attempts to deport migrants who are deemed to be in the *** illegally.
The treaty was also recently cited in a case that allowed a ************ family the right to live in the ***, after they originally applied through a scheme designed for Ukrainians.
During the Conservative leadership election, Badenoch said leaving the treaty would not be a “silver bullet” to tackling immigration but last week said her party would review the ECHR and Human Rights Act.
Responding to the speech, a Labour spokesperson said: “If Kemi Badenoch was really the ‘realist’ she says she is, she’d be apologising to the British people for the damage she and her party did to our country.
“Kemi Badenoch was part of a Conservative government which hollowed out our armed forces, made us more reliant on Putin for our energy needs and diminished Britain’s standing on the world stage.
“This Labour government is fixing the Tories’ mess and delivering on our Plan for Change, the core foundations of which are economic stability, national security, and border security.”

Sigma’s latest camera is so minimalist it doesn’t have a memory card slot
Sigma’s latest camera is so minimalist it doesn’t have a memory card slot
Sigma has announced the BF, a new 24.6-megapixel full-frame, mirrorless camera that has a built-in SSD rather than an a CFexpress or SD card slot. The company is known for making lenses and unconventional cameras, and the BF’s design and unique approach to storage definitely fit the bill.
The Sigma BF is milled from a single block of aluminum, and looks it, with mostly flat, angular edges that don’t seem entirely designed for human hands, save for a thumb rest on the back. This is all part of the BF’s deliberately minimalist approach, which extends to the lack of text on the body of the camera and the camera’s haptic buttons. Besides the thumb rest, the back of the BF features a high-resolution display, pill-shaped status monitor for highlighting whatever setting you’re adjusting, a dial for navigating menus, an option button, a power button and a playback button. The top of the BF is even simpler: there’s just two microphones and a shutter button.
The BF is compatible with L-mount lenses, and on top of photos, its 35mm full-frame sensor can capture 6K video, and supports things like HEVC encoding and recording at up to 120 frames per second. The built-in 230GB SSD in the BF is “capable of storing more than 14,000 JPEG files, 4,300 uncompressed RAW images or 2.5 hours of video at the highest-quality setting,” according to Sigma. Like plenty of modern mirrorless cameras, the BF also comes with several different color modes that can tweak the look of your photo. Options include modes like standard and rich, and color specific settings like powder blue, forest green and sunset red.
Sigma
All of that sounds cool in theory, especially if you’re interested in a camera with an idiosyncratic design, but you have to be willing to pay for it. PetaPixel writes that the Sigma BF will be available body-only for $1,999 in April 2025, in either ****** or silver.

Oloapu in NRL limbo after release from Bulldogs
Oloapu in NRL limbo after release from Bulldogs
Karl Oloapu faces an uncertain future after being released by Canterbury more than a year after suffering a career-threatening neck injury.
The Bulldogs paid a $500,000 transfer fee to lure Oloapu, then rated the hottest young halves prospect in the NRL, from Brisbane in 2023.
But after playing seven first-grade games that year, Oloapu was diagnosed with a bulging disc in his neck and told his career could be over.
The 20-year-old has not played since undergoing successful surgery ahead of the 2024 season, but said last year he was aiming to return in 2025.
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs confirmed Oloapu had been released from the final two years of his contract.
“This has been a challenging ******* for Karl and his family,” said Bulldogs general manager of football Phil Gould.
“He’s shown tremendous courage throughout this process and we’ve worked closely with him to provide all possible support.
“While we’re disappointed things haven’t worked out as hoped, Karl’s long-term ******** along with his playing future have always been our primary concern.”
Reports linked Oloapu with a move to the Dolphins in January, and the youngster had relocated to Redcliffe to live with his family amid his recovery.
But an immediate return to the NRL at a rival club appears unlikely.
AAP has been told Oloapu’s injury was the decisive factor in the mutual agreement to a release him from his Bulldogs contract.

Secret Service agent who leaped to shield Kennedy from assassination dead at 93
Secret Service agent who leaped to shield Kennedy from assassination dead at 93
Clint Hill, a Secret Service agent who threw himself onto US president John F. Kennedy’s limousine to try and protect him from an assassin’s bullets, has died at the age of 93.
The Secret Service, announcing Hill’s death at his home in California, praised the ex-agent’s “unwavering dedication and exceptional service” to the Kennedy family and four other presidents.
Hill was a member of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy’s protective detail in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963 when the president was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald while riding in an open car.
Hill, who was in a car just behind the president’s limo, dove onto the back of Kennedy’s vehicle in an attempt to shield him and his wife.
“If I had reacted just a little bit quicker,” Hill later recounted in an interview with the CBS news show “60 Minutes.” “I’ll live with that to my grave.”
The tragic moment was memorialized in a news agency photograph which showed Hill clambering up the trunk of the president’s vehicle.
He shielded the bodies of Kennedy and his wife during the ride to the hospital, where the president was declared dead.
Hill retired from the Secret Service when he was 43 and wrote several books, including “Five Days in November” about the Kennedy assassination, an event he said had been “seared into my mind and soul.”
“In the blink of an eye, everything changed,” he wrote. “Those days remain the defining ******* of my life.”
Another book, “Five Presidents,” recounted his service protecting presidents Dwight Eisenhower, Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

Earth AI reducing mining time for metals to power the clean economy
Earth AI reducing mining time for metals to power the clean economy
As the clean energy economy expands, finding the minerals and metals that power it becomes increasingly critical. The answer might lie with artificial intelligence.
Electric cars, solar panels and hydrogen fuel cells all have one thing in common: the need for precious metals.
Historically, that’s required going through the arduous process of finding the metals and then getting them out of the ground. But new technologies from a slew of companies might be changing the game.
Kobold Metals, VerAI and a startup called Earth AI are in a race to get the metals to market as soon as possible. Earth AI combines AI-powered mineral discovery software with proprietary drilling technology. Its data goes back 50 years.
“We train our AI to learn from failures and successes of decades of hundreds of geologists that explored in the past to make much better predictions for where to look for metals in the future,” said Roman Teslyuk, CEO of Earth AI.
When the system finds what it thinks are metal deposits, Earth AI can drill down to verify it in just a tennis ball-sized hole. Teslyuk said that using this mining process takes half the cost and a fraction of the amount of time that was previously required. Individual annual mine revenues can range from $50 million to $3 billion, according to Mining Data Online.
“We drill down to 2,000 feet and grab a sample of rock that has never seen light, and the metals in that rock, they can build hundreds of millions of electric cars,” Teslyuk said. “They can turn our grid renewable. This rock can get us off hydrocarbons.”
Earth AI doesn’t explore around existing mines, but finds new areas and then sells that information to mining companies.
“The market for these minerals is massive,” said Jamie Lee, managing partner at Tamarack Global, an investor in Earth AI. “The way that they have approached this really caught our attention because there’s a there is a significant moat in their business model and the way that they’ve trained their large language model.”
Other investors include Y Combinator, Cantos Ventures, Scrum Ventures, Alpaca, Sparkwave Capital and Overmatch. The company has raised a total of $38 million.
Earth AI explores on its own, as well as with partners to find deposits faster. The company recently discovered one of the largest verified deposits of palladium in Australia using AI as part of a joint venture with Legacy Minerals.
CNBC Producer Lisa Rizzolo contributed to this piece.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows encounters major spoilers as game leaks
Assassin’s Creed Shadows encounters major spoilers as game leaks
Following another delay to fix up the parkour, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is facing a new problem ahead of its March 20 release date. It appears some people are managing to acquire physical — and at once case digital — copies of the game early.
In a very spoiler-ridden video for both Shadows and Valhalla (you’ve been warned), it seems like Animus Anomalies are still appearing again following its introduction in Valhalla. This is from The Hidden Ones (via GamingBolt), who alleges to have seen gameplay from someone who is currently playing through the game due to a mistake on PlayStation’s part.
Now, this info about mechanics appearing should be taken with a massive grain of salt, especially since we already know Sony can lock and even killswitch unintended releases, just look what it did to Stellar Blade (via PSX Extreme). That said, it also wouldn’t be too surprising if it does return.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows releases on March 20 to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

GARDI SUGDUB ISLAND, Panama (Reuters) – Dozens of Venezuelan migrants boarded small boats on an island off the Caribbean coast of Panama on Monday, setting off towards Colombia by sea as part of a reverse migration of families who have given up trying to reach the United States.
At least six boats, each with more than a dozen people aboard, departed the island of Gardi Sugdub in the San Blas Archipelago off the coast of Panama, aiming to reach Playa Miel near the Colombian border. From there, the migrants explained that they planned to continue their southbound journey until arriving home in their native Venezuela.

See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories.
Fabiola Rodriguez, a Venezuelan migrant who reached Mexico but was unable to enter the United States, was among dozens who waited to board the small boats over the weekend.
She said that a lack of clarity from Panamanian officials about repatriation options forced her and others to make their way home on their own, despite the costs and the dangers.
A Venezuelan girl died over the weekend, after one of these boats shipwrecked with more than a dozen migrants on board, according to Panamanian authorities.
Daniel Gonzalez, a Venezuelan man traveling with his wife, daughter, and niece, said that they would rather be in Venezuela than in another country in the region, such as Mexico or Costa Rica. On Sunday, he and his family waited at the port of Niga Kantule for a boat that would take them to Gardi Sugdub island.
“Of course, we wanted to reach the United States to have a better life,” he said. “But that wasn’t possible.”
The reverse migration follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s crackdown on unlawful migration, including a broad ban on asylum in addition to the elimination of his predecessor’s humanitarian parole programs, which had offered some migrants legal pathways to enter the United States.

Federal agencies can ignore “What did you do last week?” email, Trump administration says
Federal agencies can ignore “What did you do last week?” email, Trump administration says
Washington — The office that asked federal workers to document five things they accomplished over the past week told executive branch officials on Monday that individual agencies can decide how to respond, despite a threat from Elon Musk that employees who refused could lose their jobs.
Two officials said that the Office of Personnel Management, or OPM, held a call with the heads of human capital at federal agencies and said it’s up to each entity to determine how they want to handle the directive employees received Saturday.
Federal employees received an email from OPM with the subject line “What did you do last week?” The message instructed recipients to reply with five examples of what they did over the past seven days, without revealing any classified information. Musk, who is leading the Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE, said that employees’ failure to respond would be taken as a resignation.
The email set a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Monday to respond. President Trump publicly backed the effort at the White House earlier in the day.
The directive sparked confusion, and several agencies told workers to ignore the request, including the Justice Department, the FBI, the State Department, the Pentagon, the Department of Energy, the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Others, including the Transportation Department, the Education Department and the Department of Commerce and the National Transportation Safety Board, told their workers they should comply.
During the call Monday with agencies, OPM was asked what would be done with any information already provided from employees who responded to the email, according to a source familiar with the matter. OPM said there were no plans to do anything with the information, the source said.

Chegg sues Google for hurting traffic as it considers alternatives
Chegg sues Google for hurting traffic as it considers alternatives
Chegg seen at the New York Stock Exchange on Feb. 13, 2025.
Danielle DeVries | CNBC
Chegg on Monday filed suit in federal district court against Google, claiming that artificial intelligence summaries of search results have hurt the online education company’s traffic and revenue.
The legal move come nearly two years after former CEO Dan Rosensweig said students engaging with OpenAI’s ChatGPT assistant were cutting into Chegg’s new customer growth.
Chegg is worth less than $200 million, and in after-hours trading Monday, the stock was trading just above $1 per share. Chegg has engaged Goldman Sachs and will look at strategic options, including getting acquired and going private, President and CEO Nathan Schultz told analysts on a Monday earnings call.
Chegg reported a $6.1 million net loss on $143.5 million in fourth-quarter revenue, a 24% decline year over year, according to a statement. Analysts polled by LSEG had expected $142.1 million in revenue. Management called for first-quarter revenue between $114 million and $116 million, but analysts had been targeting $138.1 million. The stock was down 18% in extended trading.
Google forces companies like Chegg to “supply our proprietary content in order to be included in Google’s search function,” said Schultz, adding that the search company uses its monopoly power, “reaping the financial benefits of Chegg’s content without having to spend a dime.”
Despite the suit, Chegg has its own AI strategy. It has drawn on Meta’s open-source Llama, as well as models from privately held Anthropic and Mistral, Schultz said. Chegg has also partnered with OpenAI, which the education company views as a competitor, alongside Google. The company reported that 3.6 million students had subscriptions in the fourth quarter, down 21%. Subscriptions include access to AI-powered learning assistance.
AI Overviews, as Google’s artificial intelligence summaries are called, are available in the company’s search engine in over 100 countries, with more than 1 billion users, the company said in October. They show up above links to other pages in search results.
With its collection of 135 million questions and answers on a variety of subjects, Chegg “depends on referrals from Google’s monopoly search engine for a large portion of the revenue that it devotes to producing original online content,” the company said in the filing.
A federal judge in August ruled that Google holds a monopoly in the search market. The ruling came after the Department of Justice in 2020 filed its landmark case, alleging that Google controlled the general search market by creating strong barriers to entry and a feedback loop that sustained its dominance.
Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Xbox Series X|S Owners Can Save Big On Western Digital’s 1TB Expansion Card
Xbox Series X|S Owners Can Save Big On Western Digital’s 1TB Expansion Card
Western Digital’s 1TB Xbox Expansion Card is on ***** for its lowest price since ****** Friday. For a limited time, you can snag the WD ****** C50 for only $110, which is $40 off its $150 list price. The timing of this promotion is pretty great, as Xbox has added several AAA titles with very large file sizes to Game Pass over the past few months, including the newly released Avowed, Ninja Gaiden 2 ******, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Installing all three of those eats up nearly 300GB of internal storage. And in just a few short months, Xbox users will need to make room for Doom: The Dark Ages, which is sure to take up considerable storage space. You can run out of space on your internal drive in a hurry, especially if you are a Game Pass subscriber.
The C50 launched in 2023 to compete with Seagate’s Expansion Card, the only other officially licensed storage expansion option for Xbox Series X|S. Seagate’s Expansion Cards used to be incredibly expensive, but the arrival of the C50 led to price drops. Amazon has the 1TB Seagate Expansion Card for $118 (was $150) right now.
It is worth noting, however, that the 2TB Seagate Expansion Card is $248 at Amazon, so you’ll definitely want to opt for the C50 if you want the larger capacity card.
Western Digital and Seagate Xbox Expansion Cards offer the same functionality. You simply insert the proprietary storage card into the expansion slot on the back of your console. Your Xbox will recognize the card and allow you to choose if you want to use internal storage or expansion storage as your primary install location. That’s the whole installation process; these truly are plug-and-play storage solutions.
Regular external hard drives can store Xbox Series X|S games, but you need to transfer them back to the console’s internal drive to actually play them. Xbox Expansion Cards, on the other hand, can store and load games; these nifty accessories act as an extension of your SSD.

MP jailed for 10 weeks for punching constituent
MP jailed for 10 weeks for punching constituent

CCTV captures moment Mike Amesbury MP punches man
Suspended Labour MP Mike Amesbury has been jailed for 10 weeks after he admitted punching a man to the ground in his Cheshire constituency.
Amesbury, 55, who represents Runcorn and Helsby as an independent MP, pleaded guilty to assaulting 45-year-old Paul Fellows after video footage emerged showing the confrontation.
He had his Labour whip removed after the incident in Frodsham, Cheshire, which happened in the early hours of 26 October.
Sitting at Chester Magistrates’ Court, Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram said a pre-sentence report showed Amesbury’s actions were the result of a “anger and loss of emotional control”.
Amesbury was taken down to the cells immediately and an application for bail pending an appeal was refused.
Addressing the MP before handing down the jail term, the magistrate said: “I have to say that I have seen a single punch to the head cause fatal injuries, but note the limited injuries in this case.
“I note that you, Mr Amesbury, continued to punch Mr Fellows when he was on the ground and continued to shout at Mr Fellows. I consider this more culpable.
“You continued to attack when he was on the ground and it may have continued further had a bystander not intervened,” the magistrate said.
“You continued to rant, your position ought to be as a role model to others.”

Mike Amesbury was suspended by the Labour Party after admitting assault
Passing sentence, the magistrate said the immediate custodial sentence was “necessary both as a punishment and a deterrent”.
He said he accepted the incident was one incident “in an otherwise unblemished career”.
“You have spent your life in public service and served in high office”, he told Amesbury.
But the magistrate said he was of “the view that unprovoked drunken behaviour is too serious to be dealt with unpaid work”.
Mr Ikram said he had also considered how the MP was “unlikely to re-offend”.
But he said: “You were only stopped from going further by members of the public.”
Richard Derby, representing Amesbury, asked the magistrate: “Is that an immediate sentence?”
Mr Ikram nodded and replied: “Yes,” before leaving the courtroom.
Amesbury was then joined in the dock by two security guards who took him down to the cells.
Mr Derby requested the judge come back into court as he wished to make an application for bail for Amesbury, pending an appeal against his sentence.
Mr Ikram returned to court, sat down, paused briefly, and said: “Application refused.”
Amesbury was also ordered to pay £200 compensation to the victim, costs of £85 and a surcharge of £154.
Recall petition
Following sentencing, a Labour Party spokesperson said: “The Labour Party took swift action following Mike Amesbury’s completely unacceptable actions and he is no longer a Labour MP or a member of the Labour Party.
“It is right that Mr Amesbury pleaded guilty and has now been sentenced.
“Local residents in the Runcorn and Helsby constituency deserved better and we look forward to them getting the representation they deserve in the future with a new Labour MP.”
The jail sentence means voters in Amesbury’s constituency can remove the independent MP from his seat with a recall petition.
This can be called if a sitting MP is convicted of an offence that leads to jail time, or even a suspended sentence.
More than 10% of voters must sign the petition in his Runcorn and Helsby constituency for a by-election to be triggered.
A recall petition would also be triggered if the House of Commons decided to suspend him for 10 sitting days or more.
Reform *** party chairman Zia Yusuf called for Amesbury to stand down so a by-election could be held.
He said: “The great people of Runcorn deserve far better than waiting six weeks for a recall petition to take place.”
A further application for bail is expected to be heard at the crown court later this week.

Neverwinter Nights Just Got A New Expansion 23 Years After Its Release
Neverwinter Nights Just Got A New Expansion 23 Years After Its Release
Before BioWare released Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, or Dragon Age Origins, it revisited the world of Dungeons & Dragons in 2002 with Neverwinter Nights. In the nearly 23 years since its release, Neverwinter Nights has remained popular with players who have supported the title with fan-made mods. Now, there’s a new expansion for Neverwinter Nights called Doom of Icewind Dale, and it’s officially authorized by Wizards of the Coast.
Doom of Icewind Dale was developed by Luke Scull, a game developer who got his start as a modder for Neverwinter Nights before joining Ossian Studios and working on the official expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2, Mysteries of Westgate. Scull also established himself as a fantasy author outside of the gaming realm, and he’s crafted Doom of Icewind Dale as the first installment of a new multi-part storyline called The Blades of Netheril.
A screencap from Doom of Icewind Dale.

The story for Doom of Icewind Dale begins around two decades after Neverwinter Nights’ campaign with the player’s character left for dead and their memories stripped away. From there, players have to reclaim their identity, figure out why they were abducted, and “uncover a sinister plot to unleash a rage-filled godling upon the North.”
The base game is required to play the expansion, but Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is currently on ***** on Fanatical. As for Doom of Icewind Dale itself, players can pick it up for $10 on Steam. It has approximately 10-15 hours of gameplay that lets players explore some of the 10 towns of Icewind Dale, as well as other locations including Icewind Pass, the Dwarven Valley, and the Reghed Glacier. It also includes new monsters and original music created for the expansion.
Like several of D&D’s adaptations, Neverwinter Nights and Doom of Icewind Dale are set in The Forgotten Realms. That setting is also going to be used in the Dungeons & Dragons live-action series that is currently in development.
GameSpot and Fanatical are both owned by Fandom.

U.S. judge allows Trump’s AP Oval Office ban to stand over use of Gulf of Mexico name
U.S. judge allows Trump’s AP Oval Office ban to stand over use of Gulf of Mexico name
U.S. President Donald Trump speaks to reporters after signing a proclamation renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, while flying over the gulf aboard Air Force One en route to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl, February 9, 2025.
Kevin Lamarque | Reuters
A federal judge on Monday denied a request by the Associated Press to restore full access for the news agency’s journalists after President Donald Trump’s administration barred them for continuing to refer to the Gulf of Mexico in coverage.
U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, declined to immediately grant the AP’s request for a temporary injunction restoring its access to the Oval Office and Air Force One during a hearing in Washington federal court.
The AP sued three senior Trump aides on Friday, arguing that the decision to block its reporters from those locations violates the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment protections against government abridgment of speech by trying to dictate the language they use in reporting the news.
Lawyers for the Trump administration argued in a court filing before the hearing that the AP does not have a constitutional right to what it called “special media access to the president.”
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung in a earlier statement had called the AP lawsuit a “blatant PR stunt.” During an appearance last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also said, “We feel we are in the right in this position.”
Leavitt is one of the three White House officials named as defendants in the lawsuit. The other two, Chief of Staff Susan Wiles and Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich, have not responded to requests for comment.
The Air Force One seat assignment cards of AP White House reporter Darlene Superville and AP photographer Ben Curtis are seen on an Air Force One seat in this photo illustration, after a Trump administration staff person barred them from boarding the plane, at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, U.S., February 14, 2025.
Kevin Lamarque | Reuters
Trump signed an executive order last month directing the U.S. Interior Department to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
The AP said in January it would continue to use the gulf’s long-established name in stories while also acknowledging Trump’s efforts to change it.
The White House banned AP reporters in response. The ban prevents the AP’s journalists from seeing and hearing Trump and other top White House officials as they take newsworthy actions or respond in real time to news events.
The White House Correspondents’ Association said in a legal brief backing the AP in the case that the ban “will chill and distort news coverage of the president to the public’s detriment.” Reuters released a statement in support of the AP.

‘Embarrassed’ Raiders apologise for Vegas dust-up
‘Embarrassed’ Raiders apologise for Vegas dust-up
The two Canberra players who fought each other after a night out in Las Vegas are “embarrassed” about pulling focus from the NRL’s showpiece event.
Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies fronted the press on Tuesday morning (AEDT) to apologise for the fracas that took place in an elevator at Resorts World on Thursday night.
It’s believed the two forwards began fighting when one was left without a hotel room on return from a night out.
Hotel security attended the scene and found what was thought to be a weapon, but was later revealed as an inflatable baseball bat.
Police were not called and the pair are expected to line up against the Warriors on Sunday (AEDT) for the first game of the new NRL season.
Young came up short when touring media asked why he and Smithies should be allowed to remain in Vegas.
“I don’t really know, but we’ve dealt with it internally as a club,” he said.
“I’m just sorry for my actions on Thursday night and look forward to playing on Saturday.
“I’m embarrassed for myself, our teammates, the NRL and the game.”
On reviewing security footage, staff briefly asked Young and Smithies to leave Resorts World, where the NRL’s players and staff are staying during rugby league’s second annual trip to Vegas.
They have since returned and patched up a friendship that has blossomed since Smithies arrived at the Raiders for the 2024 season.
“We’re best mates. It was honestly nothing,” Young said.
“He was at mine for Christmas and our partners are travelling America at the moment, so there’s no issues there.”
Ricky Stuart, known as one of the NRL’s toughest coaches, has addressed the two men.
“We were disappointed in ourselves, so obviously he’s going to be disappointed in us,” said English international Smithies.
“But we apologised. We’re just looking to move on and focus on this week. Obviously it’s a massive week, so we’re just looking to put it to bed.”
The dust-up comes after the Raiders and Warriors both confirmed last week they would not impose a curfew on players ahead of this weekend’s fixtures at Allegiant Stadium.
The dust-up is the NRL’s first off-field incident in Vegas, though Spencer Leniu’s on-field racial attack on Ezra Mam cast a pall over last season’s trip.
The Raiders finished ninth and missed finals last NRL season, despite impressive defeats of heavyweights Penrith and the Sydney Roosters late in the year.

The stock was down 25% in extended trading.
AI Overviews, as Google’s artificial intelligence summaries are called, are available in the company’s search engine in over 100 countries, with more than 1 billion users, the company said in October.
Chegg “depends on referrals from Google’s monopoly search engine for a large portion of the revenue that it devotes to producing original online content,” the company said in the filing.
