Elon Musk chose the ‘right path’ in recommitting to Tesla: Analyst
In Tesla’s (TSLA) most recent earnings call in April, CEO Elon Musk stated his intent to recommit himself to his electric vehicle company, expecting to spend less time in Washington, D.C. as head of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The Tesla board denied reports out this week alleging they have initiated a search to find a new CEO.
Wedbush Securities managing director and global head of technology research Dan Ives comes on Market Domination to reaffirm Musk’s decision — choosing Tesla over DOGE — and the assumed pressure behind the chief executive’s choice.

Hackers have gained access to the membership data of *** retailer Co-op
A hacking group called “DragonForce” has gained access to Co-op’s membership data, the *** retailer and insurance provider shared in a press release. DragonForce actually contacted the BBC directly to confirm that it had the private data of 20 million people.
Co-op’s statement says the hackers accessed name and contact details, but don’t have things like “members’ passwords, bank or credit card details, transactions or information relating to any members’ or customers’ products or services .” The story is a little different for Co-op’s employees. According to the BBC, DragonForce was able to produce a database that includes the usernames and passwords of all of Co-op’s employees.
“We have implemented measures to ensure that we prevent unauthorized access to our systems whilst minimizing disruption for our members, customers, colleagues and partners,” Co-op writes. The company also says it’s working with the National Cyber Security Centre (NSCS) and the National Crime Agency (NCA) to investigate how the hackers accessed its data in the first place.
Co-op’s breach is the latest in a string of cyberattacks targeting *** retailers. Marks & Spencer experienced a similar attack in late April that led the company to stop accepting online orders, Reuters reports. The department store Harrods dealt with its own cyberattack a few days later.

Israeli security cabinet backs plans to expand Gaza operation, media reports say
Israeli security cabinet backs plans to expand Gaza operation, media reports say
JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israel’s security cabinet approved plans for an expanded operation in the Gaza Strip, Israeli media reported on Friday, adding to signs that attempts to stop the fighting and return hostages held by ****** have made no progress.
The decision came after comments from both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the head of the military, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir this week indicating that Israel intended to step up the campaign in Gaza.
Since the collapse of an earlier ceasefire agreement in March, Israeli troops have been carving out wide buffer zones in Gaza, squeezing the 2.3 million population into an ever narrower zone in the centre of the enclave and along the coast and shutting off the entry of aid trucks.
“As long as ****** does not release our hostages, we will significantly deepen our military action,” ynet, one of Israel’s main news outlets quoted an unnamed Israeli official as saying.
A spokesperson for Netanyahu’s office declined to comment on the reports, which said the decision would be approved by the full cabinet on Sunday.
On Thursday, Netanyahu said that while Israel was seeking the return of its hostages, of whom up to 24 are believed to be alive, its ultimate goal in Gaza remained to defeat ******.
“In war, there is the ultimate goal – and that ultimate goal is the victory over our enemies,” he said.
Despite efforts by Egyptian and Qatari mediators to restore the ceasefire, neither Israel nor ****** has shown willingness to back down on core demands, with each side blaming the other for the failure to reach a deal.
Israel, which wants the return of 59 hostages still held in Gaza, has insisted that ****** must disarm and be excluded from any role in the future governance of the enclave, a condition that ****** rejects.
The group, which ran Gaza since 2007, has insisted on agreeing a lasting end to the fighting and a withdrawal of Israeli forces as a condition for a deal that would see a release of the hostages.
Earlier, Netanyahu’s office issued a statement denying that it had rejected a ceasefire proposal put forward by Egyptian mediators, and saying ****** was standing in the way of a deal to halt the fighting.
Israeli commanders have said the military was ready to step up its operations in Gaza at short notice.
“We will use all the power at our disposal, we will increase the pace and intensity of the operation, and if required we’ll do so soon,” Zamir said at an Independence Day ceremony on Thursday.
On Friday, Israeli strikes continued to hit different areas of Gaza, killing at least 25 Palestinians, Gaza health authorities said.
Israel’s campaign was triggered by the devastating ****** attack on Oct. 7, 2023, that killed 1,200 people in southern Israel and saw 251 taken hostage. It has so far killed more than 50,000 Palestinians and devastated Gaza where aid groups have warned the Israeli blockade risks a humanitarian disaster.

Warren Buffett annual meeting preview Berkshire Hathaway
Warren Buffett annual meeting preview Berkshire Hathaway
Warren Buffett and Greg Abel during the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting in Omaha, Nebraska on May 4, 2024.
CNBC
Warren Buffett has been mum about tariffs and the recent market turmoil, but will finally speak his mind when the 94-year-old investment legend kicks off Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholder meeting on Saturday.
Tens of thousands of rapt shareholders will descend on Omaha, Nebraska this weekend for the annual gathering dubbed “Woodstock for Capitalists.” This year’s meeting marks the 60th anniversary of Buffett leading the company, and is the second without Buffett’s long-time partner Charlie Munger, who died in late 2023.
The biggest event in the Cornhusker State next to a Nebraska-Oklahoma football game, this year’s meeting comes as markets have turned uncertain after President Donald Trump’s aggressive rollout of the highest tariffs on imports in generations. (Many were suspended for 90 days afterward.) Wall Street economists left and right are sounding the alarms that a recession may be in the offing, as recent data pointed to signs of economic weakening.
“Because Berkshire owns so many businesses, they’re basically on the front lines of everything in terms of the economy falling off. Is it even worse than what the numbers are already showing?” said Steve Check, founder of Check Capital Management, which counts Berkshire as its largest holding. “I hope, more than anything, that he speaks out against the way tariffs have been done. Everyone is looking for what Warren Buffett has to say.”
Investors’ north star
The “Oracle of Omaha” may have already let his actions do the talking. Berkshire has sold more stock than it’s bought for nine straight quarters, dumping more than $134 billion worth in 2024. That was mainly due to reductions in Berkshire’s two largest equity holdings — Apple and Bank of America. As a result of the selling spree, by December Berkshire’s enormous pile of cash had grown to yet another record, at $334.2 billion.
The world is eager to hear if Buffett, the most famous advocate of value investing, used the April market meltdown to hunt for bargains and lay the groundwork for deals. Although Buffett doesn’t make predictions of short-term market direction, investors will listen closely for any signals of his continued confidence in the U.S. economy — despite the tariff shock.
“I think the big question on everyone’s mind is what will Warren do with the pile of cash that they are sitting on and, more specifically, when can it be deployed, as he can help investors gauge when the all clear sign is lit,” said David Wagner, a portfolio manager at Aptus Capital Advisors and a Berkshire shareholder. Many investors, he noted, “tend to view Warren as the north star.”
Buffett will make a few introductory remarks at 9am ET Saturday, followed by an hours-long question-and- answer panel. Buffett’s designated successor, Greg Abel, and Berkshire’s insurance chief, Ajit Jain, will join Buffett on stage in the morning, with Buffett and Abel alone in the afternoon. The Q&A session will be broadcast on CNBC and webcast in English and Mandarin.
Big Apple question
Shareholders are also curious for Buffett to explain his motivation in slashing his longtime Apple stake. After a head-turning selling spree for four quarters in a row, Berkshire’s Apple holding has stayed at an even 300 million shares since the end of September, leading many to speculate that Buffett is done selling the stock for the time being.
At last year’s annual meeting, Buffett suggested that the ***** was for tax reasons following sizable gains. He also implied that selling down Apple could be tied to his wanting to avoid a higher tax bill in the future if rates went higher to fund the yawning U.S. fiscal deficit. With a change in government in Washington, shareholders want to hear Buffett’s reasoning today.
“You can’t use that explanation anymore because it clearly does not apply,” said David Kass, a finance professor at the University of Maryland. “If he sold more, it would indicate that he probably felt it was fully valued, or Warren Buffett being the genius that he is, he was able to see ahead at some of the risks that could face Apple, in case there’s a trade war and tariffs.”
Berkshire’s first-quarter earnings report, due Saturday morning, will show the conglomerate’s top equity holdings, which could give investors a hint as to whether the Apple stake was adjusted again.

NASA $6 billion budget cut, acting administrator sees ‘tough choices’
NASA $6 billion budget cut, acting administrator sees ‘tough choices’
The Trump administration has floated a plan to trim about $6 billion from the budget of NASA, while allocating $1 billion of remaining funds to Mars-focused initiatives, aligning with an ambition long held by Elon Musk and his rocket maker SpaceX.
A copy of the discretionary budget posted to the NASA website on Friday said that the change focuses NASA’s funding on “beating China back to the Moon and on putting the first human on Mars.”
NASA also said it will need to “streamline” its workforce, information technology services, NASA Center operations, facility maintenance, and construction and environmental compliance activities, and terminate multiple “unaffordable” missions, while reducing scientific missions for the sake of “fiscal responsibility.”
Janet Petro, NASA’s acting administrator, said in an agency-wide email on Friday that the proposed lean budget, which would cut about 25% of the space agency’s funding, “reflects the administration’s support for our mission and sets the stage for our next great achievements.”
Petro urged NASA employees to “persevere, stay resilient, and lean into the discipline it takes to do things that have never been done before — especially in a constrained environment,” according to the memo, which was obtained by CNBC. She acknowledged the budget would “require tough choices,” and that some of NASA’s “activities will wind down.”
The document on NASA’s website said it’s allocating more than $7 billion for moon exploration and “introducing $1 billion in new investments for Mars-focused programs.”
SpaceX, which is already among the largest NASA and Department of Defense contractors, has long sought to launch a manned mission to Mars. The company says on its website that its massive Starship rocket is designed to “carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond.”
Musk, who is the founder and CEO of SpaceX, has a central role in President Donald Trump’s administration, leading an effort to slash the size, spending and capacity of the federal government, and influencing regulatory changes through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk, who frequently makes aggressive and incorrect projections for his companies, said in 2020 that he was “highly confident” that SpaceX would land humans on Mars by 2026.
Petro highlighted in her memo that under the discretionary budget, NASA would retire the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket, the Orion spacecraft and Gateway programs.
It would also put an end to its green aviation spending and to its Mars Sample Return (MSR) Program, which sought to use rockets and robotic systems to “collect and send samples of Martian rocks, soils and atmosphere back to Earth for detailed chemical and physical analysis,” according to a website for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Some of the biggest reductions at NASA, should the budget get approved, would hit the space agency’s space science, Earth science and mission support divisions.
Petro didn’t name any specific aerospace and defense contractors in her agency-wide email. However SpaceX, ULA and Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin are positioned to continue to conduct launches in the absence of the SLS. Boeing is currently the prime contractor leading the SLS program.
“This is far from the first time NASA has been asked to adapt, and your ability to deliver, even under pressure, is what sets NASA apart,” she wrote.
President Trump’s nominee to lead NASA, tech entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, still has to be approved by the U.S. Senate. His nomination was advanced out of the Senate Commerce Committee on Wednesday.

Expedition 33 Credits Xbox Game Pass for Not Losing “Momentum” to Bethesda’s Oblivion Remaster
Expedition 33 Credits Xbox Game Pass for Not Losing “Momentum” to Bethesda’s Oblivion Remaster
When Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was first teased back in mid-2024, it didn’t take long for it to stir up enough hype surrounding its visuals and combat style. The game has since landed on Xbox Game Pass just next to another contender – The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster. Both these titles made headlines, and given the surprise launch of Oblivion’s remake, some wondered if the former would be overshadowed over time.
But it didn’t. Bringing the turn-based genre back to life, Expedition 33 did extremely well since its launch. Here’s what the publishers claimed helped the game stand up to Bethesda’s remaster.
The secret to Clair Obscur’s success
In a recent conversation with The Game Business, Kepler Interactive’s Matthew Handrahan shared his views on Expedition 33’s release and more. Some felt that releasing the game around the same time as the remaster of one of the most beloved RPGs of the 2000s was a risky gamble.
However, as Bethesda’s new Oblivion went ahead to secure 4 million sold copies, Sandall’s latest release was in a close follow-up with a million copies sold in its launch.
The British video game publisher credited two main reasons behind the game’s success. He said –
..By the time that we rolled around, we had momentum of our own and we felt pretty confident that we could stand beside it. I think there were other aspects, like the price point we were at and the inclusion in Game Pass… so we knew we would have a lot of interest around the game..
Talking about the underlying competition between the popular titles, Handrahan disclosed that, given his experience in media, he was aware how both Western-style RPGs and Japanese-style RPGs had different appeals and audiences. He was confident that people playing an Elder Scrolls game wouldn’t necessarily play Final Fantasy and vice versa. Adding to this, he then shared how Oblivion’s timing did more good than harm. He said –
…Proximity to Oblivion didn’t seem to harm us at all. In many ways, I think it just drew attention to quality RPGs that week, and everybody was thinking and talking about the genre.
The team was fully confident in the game, standing out with its “very specific identity,” hinting at the well-written story, the actor’s performances, combat, and more.
What’s different in Expedition 33 vs. Oblivion Remaster
As someone who’s played both, it’s hard not to compare them. The TES4 Remaster pulls players back into the same nostalgic storyline with its visual charm and weirdly broken magic leveling system (yes, that still needs fixing).
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, on the other hand, feels more focused, more curated. It’s part NieR, part Persona, and just enough Dark Souls in aesthetic to catch attention, but rather than riding on nostalgia, it brings a fresh story to experience.
Given the close launch dates, both TES4 and Expedition 33 performed well on Xbox. Image credits: Bethesda Games
Players took to Reddit to share their thoughts on both RPG titles, with a few unable to decide which one they prefer over the other.

Simply put, “Oblivion is comfort food. Expedition 33 is the new recipe that actually works.” Do you think Xbox Game Pass gives Expedition 33 the edge it needed, or would it have thrived anyway? Which of the two do you prefer? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

UN judge Lydia Mugambe jailed for keeping housekeeper as slave
UN judge Lydia Mugambe jailed for keeping housekeeper as slave
Thames Valley Police
Lydia Mugambe was found to have abused her position of power to use the young woman as a slave
A United Nations judge has been jailed for forcing a housekeeper to work as a slave.
Lydia Mugambe was studying for a PhD in law at the University of Oxford when officers discovered she had a young woman at her home carrying out unpaid work as a maid and nanny.
The 50-year-old, who is also a High Court judge in Uganda, was found guilty of modern day slavery offences in March.
She was jailed at Oxford Crown Court for six years and four months.
Body camera footage showed Mugambe telling police “I even have immunity” as they made the arrest
Mugambe fraudulently arranged a visa for the woman, who was from Uganda.
But the terms of the visa stipulated she would be paid to work as a private servant at the diplomatic residence of John Mugerwa, Uganda’s former deputy high commissioner based at the Ugandan embassy in London.
Prosecutors said Mr Mugerwa sponsored the victim’s visa knowing she would actually work in servitude for Mugambe.
In return Mugambe would provide him assistance in relation to a separate court case in Uganda in which he was a defendant, the court was told.
The trial heard Mugambe paid for the victim’s flight and picked her up from the airport – but then became a slave at her home in Kidlington.
PA Media
Mugambe was studying for a PhD at the University of Oxford
Passing sentence, Judge David Foxton said it was a “very sad case”, outlining Mugambe’s legal accomplishments, including work concerning the protection of human rights.
The judge added that the defendant “showed absolutely no remorse” for her conduct and that she looked to “forcibly blame” the victim for what happened.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorised police to charge Mr Mugerwa with conspiracy, but he had diplomatic immunity, which the Ugandan Government did not waive.
‘Treated as worthless’
Mugambe had denied forcing the young Ugandan woman to do household chores and said she “always” treated her with love, care and patience.
The victim, who has anonymity for life, said: “My existence to Lydia was not important. I was fearful and worried.
“I was asking for God to help me. I should have been treated humanely, not treated as useless or worthless.”
Ch Supt Ben Clark, of Thames Valley Police, said there was “no doubt” that Mugambe had known she was committing offences.
“Modern slavery is an under reported crime and I hope that the bravery of the victim in this case encourages other victims of modern slavery to come forward,” he said.
A University of Oxford spokesperson said the institution was “appalled” by its student’s crimes.
“The university is now commencing its own disciplinary process, which has the power to remove students convicted of serious criminal offences,” the spokesperson added.

Jeremy Renner and the Science of Extraordinary Near-Death Experiences
Jeremy Renner and the Science of Extraordinary Near-Death Experiences
A little over two years ago, the actor Jeremy Renner was run over by a seven-ton snowplow. In a new memoir, he wrote that as he lay near death, he experienced something extraordinary.
He could see his entire life at once, and felt an “exhilarating peace” and a connection to the world. He also saw family and friends arrayed before him, telling him not to let go.
“What I felt was energy, a constantly connected, beautiful and fantastic energy,” Mr. Renner wrote. “There was no time, place or space, and nothing to see, except a kind of electric, two-way vision made from strands of that inconceivable energy, like the whipping lines of cars’ taillights photographed by a time-lapse camera.”
What Mr. Renner described is “classic for near-death experiences,” the term researchers use for such events, said Dr. Jeffrey Long, the founder of the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation.
Dr. Long’s foundation has collected more than 4,000 accounts similar to Mr. Renner’s. Some people who have come close to death have recounted a sense of energy, peace and absence of time, as Mr. Renner did. Some have also described watching their body from above, moving through a tunnel toward a light and even meeting God.
The general public may be familiar with these events through a genre of memoirs that present near-death experiences as proof of a Christian afterlife. But they have been reported across countries, demographics and religions, as well as by atheists, and have been a subject of scientific research for decades.
There is no scientific consensus on what causes near-death experiences. But whatever their cause, they can change people’s lives. Some lose all fear of death; others change careers or leave relationships. The reactions to near-death experiences seem to outstrip what researchers have seen in people who nearly die but don’t have such an experience.
For those people, “usually it’s like, yeah, you almost died, so you become more appreciative of life,” said Marieta Pehlivanova, a research assistant professor of psychiatry and neurobehavioral sciences at the University of Virginia School of Medicine’s Division of Perceptual Studies, which researches near-death experiences.
But, Dr. Pehlivanova said, “the changes we see in these people who almost died but didn’t have an N.D.E. are much more subtle and do not continue over such a long ******* of time.”
Why do these experiences happen?
Near-death experiences are hard to study because the catastrophic injuries and illnesses that can lead to them don’t lend themselves to controlled experiments. But neuroscientists have proposed a range of theories as to what causes them, and many believe the experiences stem from a complex cascade of neurological and physiological processes.
In a paper published in March, seven researchers proposed an explanation that linked near-death experiences to a burst of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, and an activation of specific receptors in the brain that produces a sense of calm and vivid imagery. The paper also posits that near-death experiences might occur when partly conscious people go through aspects of rapid-eye-movement sleep, which is when the most robust and complex dreaming happens.
Other scientists’ theories include one that involves the same neural receptors that facilitate the effects of ketamine.
Another suggests aspects of N.D.E.s might arise from dysfunction in the area of the brain responsible for combining sights, sounds, motion and our innate sense of where we are into a single sensory experience.
That might explain one of the most curious parts of near-death experiences: that some people later say they watched their body from above, and are able to describe details of what was happening around them that it seems like they shouldn’t be able to know.
Dr. Kevin Nelson, a professor of neurology at the University of Kentucky who was an author of the March study, noted that people might be able to hear even when apparently unresponsive, and that patients’ eyelids were often open during resuscitation efforts.
So they might take in sight and sound in real time but, because their brain is disrupted by a lack of blood flow, recall it as coming from a perspective above their body.
Processing a life-altering experience
Some researchers — and a great number of people who have had near-death experiences — believe that none of the proposed scientific explanations can account for all the elements, and that these experiences are true encounters with an afterlife.
That idea is anathema to many neuroscientists for whom a fundamental precept is that consciousness arises from the brain.
“Faith and science often get confused on this topic, in part because it has such a profound emotional valence,” Dr. Nelson said. But, he added, “There is no scientific evidence that we can have human experience outside of the brain.”
But Dr. Long, whose medical training and practice are in radiation oncology, believes people’s consciousness does leave their bodies during near-death experiences in a way that neuroscience can’t account for. He is particularly convinced that science cannot explain the accuracy and detail of what patients recall seeing and hearing from outside their body.
Dr. Pehlivanova and her colleagues at the University of Virginia institute also believe the experiences could involve a real separation between consciousness and the brain, though they have not dismissed the possibility of neurological or physiological explanations.
Dr. Bruce Greyson, a professor emeritus of psychiatry and neurobehavioral sciences in that institute, has studied near-death experiences for 50 years. These days, he is mostly focused not on causes but on how medical professionals could best help people who go through these experiences process what they experienced.
Doctors and nurses tend to be the first people to whom patients describe their experiences, hoping to “get some perspective on it,” Dr. Greyson said. And sometimes, those professionals respond dismissively.
“For almost all near-death experiencers, they regard this as one of the most important things, if not the most important thing, that’s ever happened in their lives,” he said. “And while it may seem inconsequential to the health care worker, it’s not at all to the experiencer.”

The Switch 2 Dock has two USB-A ports, so you should be able to use Hori’s wheels to play Mario Kart World. Wired and Bluetooth Switch controllers are supposed to work just fine on Switch 2, and this should especially be true when dealing with officially licensed accessories like Hori’s Mario Kart wheels.
We have reached out to Hori to confirm Switch 2 compatibility and will update this story if we hear back. Just know that there is a chance neither wheel will work on Switch 2. We’d be very surprised, but until we test it for ourselves or receive official confirmation, we can’t be fully sure about any potentially backward compatible accessory.
It’s also worth noting that Nintendo is releasing Joy-**** 2 wheel attachments alongside the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World on June 5. You’ll be able to slot a Joy-**** 2 Controller in the wheel and play Mario Kart with motion controls. You can preorder the Joy-**** 2 Wheel Set for $25 at Walmart and other major retailers.
$77 (was $110)
The Pro Deluxe model is a full-sized steering wheel with a dark red and ****** color scheme. It has textured grips, a sturdy base, a pair of pedals, and conveniently placed inputs located in the general area where your hands naturally rest. The ZR and ZL triggers are on the rounded part of the wheel, while the face buttons, D-pad, and various menu inputs run across the middle. Beyond the larger size and more premium feel, the biggest additional perk is the inclusion of removable paddles. The paddles, along with the ZR and ZL trigger placement, allow you to play Mario Kart and other racing games without needing to alter your hand position to press buttons.
$54.52 (was $70)
The Pro Mini’s color scheme is based on the shades of red and blue found on Mario’s iconic outfit. Like the larger Pro Deluxe, it has a Mario logo in the center and various buttons around it, including a D-pad, four face buttons, and menu buttons. The four triggers/bumpers are also located in the center as yellow buttons. The Pro Mini doesn’t have the textured wheel cover or detachable paddles found on the pricier option, but you’ll still get a pair of peddles for accelerating and braking.
Mario Kart World is the first open-world game in series history and the biggest launch game for Switch 2. It’s available to preorder for $80 at multiple retailers, but you won’t need to buy it separately if you manage to secure a preorder for the Mario Kart World Switch 2 Bundle. Unfortunately, Switch 2 preorders sold out fast when they opened on April 24, and it’s unclear if and when restocks will happen before the console arrives next month.
Preorders are still available for many of the first-party and officially licensed Switch 2 launch accessories.

Game Pass Just Added Another Call Of Duty Game
Game Pass Just Added Another Call Of Duty Game
It’s a big day in the world of Xbox Game Pass, as Microsoft has added another Call of Duty game to the subscription service. Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (the 2022 game) joined the Game Pass catalog, and it includes the full experience covering single-player and multiplayer.
MW2 is the third Call of Duty game that Game Pass subscribers can play via the subscription service. It joins ****** Ops 6 and Modern Warfare 3. The battle royale title Call of Duty: Warzone is a free game that anyone can play–including Game Pass members–though it’s not strictly a Game Pass title.
Modern Warfare 2 is playable on Game Pass via PC and Xbox.
Modern Warfare 2 was developed by Infinity Ward and is a sequel to the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot. Modern Warfare 3, developed by Sledgehammer Games and released in 2023, continued the story. According to Deadline, plans are underway for a fourth game in the reboot series.
After Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, many wondered if Microsoft would add older Call of Duty games to the Game Pass catalog, but as of yet, that hasn’t happened.
Modern Warfare 2 isn’t the only new introduction to Game Pass this week, as Ubisoft’s Anno 1800 also recently arrived. The next release is Dredge on May 6. Despite the calendar rolling over to May 2025, Microsoft has yet to officially announce this month’s full set of arrivals and removals, but the “leaving soon” page has already revealed some of the games leaving in the first half of May 2025.
Activision is expected to release a new Call of Duty game later this year, and it’s rumored to be a ****** Ops 2 sequel that could feature the return of a fan-favorite Zombies map.

Nike, Adidas and other footwear giants ask Trump for tariff exemption
Nike, Adidas and other footwear giants ask Trump for tariff exemption

America’s largest shoe brands are asking President Donald Trump for a tariff reprieve.
The Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America trade group sent a letter to the White House this week asking for an exemption to Trump’s so-called “reciprocal tariffs,” which the association said pose an “existential threat” to the footwear industry. The letter is signed by 76 footwear brands, including Nike, Adidas, Skechers and Under Armour.
“Many companies making affordable footwear for hardworking lower and middle-income families cannot absorb tariff rates this high, nor can they pass along these costs. Without immediate relief from the reciprocal tariffs they will simply shutter,” reads the letter, which is dated April 29.
“Many orders have been placed on hold, and footwear inventory for U.S. consumers may soon run low,” the trade group said.
Trump’s wide-sweeping tariffs, announced on April 2, included levies on several countries that are important sources for footwear suppliers, including China, Vietnam and Cambodia. While the initial tariff rates of over 45% for Vietnam and Cambodia were lowered to 10% for a 90-day *******, the Trump administration has only ratcheted up duties on ******** imports, which are now subject to an effective tariff rate of 145%.
Trump’s higher tariffs on dozens of trade partners are set to resume in early July.
Adidas previously warned this week that tariffs would lead to higher prices for American consumers. In late March, before the specific reciprocal tariff rates were announced, Nike’s finance chief said global levies and economic uncertainty would result in lower current-quarter sales.
The footwear association’s letter said the industry had already been facing significant duties on products like children’s shoes before Trump announced his broad tariffs. In total, U.S. footwear companies will face tariffs ranging from 150% to about 220%, the trade group said.
“This is an emergency that requires immediate action and attention. The American footwear industry does not have months to adjust business models and supply chains while absorbing this unprecedented and unforeseen tariff regime,” the association wrote.
The group further warned that the tariffs won’t result in bringing manufacturing back to the U.S., as Trump has promised, because they erase the certainty that businesses require in order to invest in sourcing changes.
The White House didn’t immediately respond to a CNBC request for comment.

Outlook for May 5-9, 2025
Outlook for May 5-9, 2025
Trade talks will continue to be critical in the week ahead, as equities mount an impressive rally on hopes the U.S. economy is strong enough to weather the fallout from Trump’s tariffs. The S & P 500 has made a huge comeback since the post-April 2 sell-off, recouping all its losses after the latest jobs report spurred hopes the U.S. could dodge a recession, and China reportedly signaled a willingness to come to the table on trade talks. On Friday, the S & P 500 was on pace for its longest win streak since 2004. It is trading above its 50-day moving average for the first time in two months. Now, investors are hoping that any sign of progress with any of the U.S.’s key trading partners will mean that stocks have finally turned a corner, and even may have put in a bottom, after pricing in the worst of Trump’s initial tariffs. “Making most of April 2 go away is what I think investors are waiting for,” said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at B. Riley Wealth Management. “I think the stock market would settle for one major deal with a major trade partner to kind of set the table for the potential for more. We’re about halfway through that 90-day window, and, really, I think investors would react positively to getting that first deal on the tape.” .SPX 3M mountain S & P 500 China, of course, could take longer to negotiate with, Hogan said. However, a trade agreement with other key countries including Mexico, Canada, Japan or the Eurozone that sets the precedent for future deals could also have a euphoric effect on the stock market. “I certainly feel as though that would be monumental,” Hogan said. The technical setup Still, there are reasons to be concerned. In spite of Friday’s surprisingly strong jobs report, many investors are sure the U.S. is headed for a slowdown, even if it can manage to skirt a recession. The long-term technical trend remains troubling as well. While the S & P 500 may have broken above key near-term resistance, trading above its 50-day moving average, it still has to surmount long-term resistance at its 200-day. The broader index was last at around 5,694. Fairlead Strategies founder Katie Stockton said she sees the next resistance level for the S & P 500 at 5,783, where it traded the day of the November election, and added that the longer-term trends remain weak. “We did see a breakdown that was more significant than the short-term breakout,” said Stockton. “I call it a round trip — despite the recent bounce, the damage to the charts has been done.” Elsewhere, Wolfe Research’s Rob Ginsberg noted a sharp reversal in the S & P 500 could bring the benchmark back down to support at 5,200. Fed meeting, peak earnings Federal Reserve policymakers are scheduled to meet next week. Many investors are certain that the central bank will be on hold for the time being as the economy continues to show signs of strength, and inflation remains elevated. Investors have dialed back their rate cut expectations, with markets last pricing in three quarter-point reductions in 2025, down from four prior to Friday’s jobs report, according to the CME FedWatch Tool . The first rate cut has been pushed back to July, instead of June. Next week is the final peak of earnings season, with another fifth of S & P 500 companies posting quarterly results, including Dow component Walt Disney . Thus far, the first-quarter reporting season has come in stronger than expected, but current-quarter estimates have come down. On Friday, stocks were on pace to close out the week with strong gains. Todd Howard Needs to Listen Why Bethesda Fans Claim the Fallout 3 Remaster Is ‘Necessary’
Todd Howard Needs to Listen Why Bethesda Fans Claim the Fallout 3 Remaster Is ‘Necessary’
While Fallout 3 debuted all the way back in 2008, it’s still one of the best entries we’ve ever seen in the post-apocalyptic franchise. No one had expected Bethesda to nail this game, as it was the developer’s first step into the franchise. However, Todd Howard and his team surprised everyone by delivering a generational hit.
Fallout 3 is an incredible game, but its age is starting to show compared to modern RPGs. Rumors suggest that, just the Oblivion Remastered, Bethesda might give the beloved post-apocalyptic RPG an overhaul with modern-day visuals and gameplay mechanics.
Fans have responded to these rumors with great enthusiasm and have a clear message for Howard and his team at Bethesda: Fallout 3 remaster is necessary.
Fallout 3 is a classic that deserves a second life
Rumors regarding a Fallout 3 remaster kicked off all the way back in 2023 during FTC trials on Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In recent weeks, we’ve seen tons of insiders reporting on the project and claiming that it’s a real thing. However, it’s going to be a long while before the remaster releases.
Over on r/fo3, fans of the post-apocalyptic franchise have been actively discussing the rumors of a Fallout 3 remaster. User Such_N_414 has started a thread asking fellow players whether they think the remaster is a necessary project or an unnecessary one.
In response, user seancho says that a Fallout 3 remaster is “absolutely necessary”. While they absolutely adore the RPG, they’re not a big fan of its combat system and believe that it’s in desperate need of an overhaul as it forces players to rely on V.A.T.S.
Jamal-almajnun also chimed in and pointed out the technical problems with Fallout 3. The game “doesn’t play nice” when it’s played on modern operating systems such as Windows 11. Without the help of community-made mods, the game constantly crashes out and even fails to launch.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is a breathtaking masterpiece. (Image via Bethesda)
A Fallout 3 remaster wouldn’t just fix the bugs and other issues with the game. As Zestryclose-Food-8413 says, the game being remade with “modernized gameplay and graphics” would certainly elevate the classic.
Considering the visual overhauls we’ve seen with Oblivion Remastered, we can only imagine what Bethesda and Virtuos Studios can do with a Fallout game. As EltonJohnSlingsDick puts it, players won’t be “complaining” if a Fallout 3 remaster hits the shelves.
Even ex-Bethesda developer want to see Fallout 3 remaster
The remaster must improve on a number of aspects. (Image via Bethesda Game Studios)
It’s not just gamers who are desperate to see Fallout 3 being overhauled with modern-day visuals and gameplay mechanics. Even one of its designers, Bruce Nesmith, wants to see a remaster for the game, improving upon various features.
VideoGamer got an opportunity to chat with Nesmith on Bethesda’s latest remastering push. The former Bethesda developer stated that he would also like to see a Fallout 3 remaster and expects Bethesda to improve upon the gun combat as it wasn’t the RPG’s strongest suit.
According to Nesmith, the remaster must take notes from Fallout 4 and implement what Bethesda had learned from the fourth entry’s combat system.
Nesmith also took the example of Oblivion Remastered and stated that it wasn’t just updated to be on par with Skyrim but instead overhauled to the point where it surpasses anything seen in Skyrim.
The former Bethesda developers state that Fallout 3 was Bethesda’s first attempt at a shooter-type game, and there’s definitely room for improvement.
With that said, do you think remastering Fallout 3 is absolutely necessary for Bethesda and Howard? Let us know in the comments below.

Six key moments from BBC News interview
Six key moments from BBC News interview
Watch: Prince Harry’s exclusive interview in full
The Duke of Sussex has spoken exclusively to the BBC about his prospects of returning to the ***, relationship with his family and anger at losing his right to automatic full security protection when visiting from the US.
He made the comments after losing his latest legal challenge against the government over his security – a decision which he says has left him vulnerable to threats on his life.
Here are six key moments from his interview with the BBC’s Nada Tawfik in California.
‘No way back to *** with my family’
Any prospect of a return to the *** for Prince Harry, Meghan and their children – Archie, five, and Lilibet, three – is “impossible” in light of the Court of Appeal ruling, the royal told the BBC.
Prince Harry, who relocated to the US in 2020, said he “can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the *** at this point”.
“The things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything,” he continued.
He told the BBC: “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done…
“So I miss the ***, I miss parts of the ***, of course I do – and I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”
‘Time for reconciliation’
Prince Harry said there had been “so many disagreements” in the family, but the “only thing that’s left” is the row over his security – which he said had “always been the sticking point”.
“There is no point in continuing to fight anymore, life is precious,” he added.
Prince Harry also touched on the health of King Charles. The 76-year-old is undergoing treatment for *******.
The prince said: “I don’t know how much longer my father has – he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff but it would be nice to reconcile.”
He added “some members of my family will never forgive me” for writing his memoir Spare, and went on to say: “It would be nice to have that reconciliation part now.
“If they don’t want that, that’s entirely up to them.”
‘Security can be used to control’
Prince Harry claimed that the downgrading of his security arrangements in 2020 was used as “leverage” over him after his decision to step down from front line royal duties and move to the US.
He said the court’s decision this week, which said the way his security was removed was lawful, had “set a new precedent that security can be used to control”, and would “imprison other members of the family from being able to choose a different life”.
Prince Harry said he had only been to the *** for funerals or court hearings since 2020, plus some charity engagements, claiming that he only receives full protection if he is visiting on official business.
“I can only come to the *** safely if I’m invited… there is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” he added.
Asked if he wanted the King to take steps to guarantee his security, he said: “I’ve never asked him to intervene – I’ve asked him to step out of the way and let the experts do their job.”
He suggested the withdrawal of security had been an attempt to prevent him and Meghan leaving the royal fold, saying: “This, at the heart of it, is a family dispute.
“And it makes me really, really sad that we’re sitting here today, five years later, where a decision that was made most likely, in fact I know, to keep us under the roof.”
‘I cannot escape being a royal’
The prince said that, regardless of whether he is carrying out royal duties, the security risks he face remain the same – and have gotten worse in recent years.
Prince Harry said: “My status hasn’t changed. It can’t change. I am who I am.
“I am part of what I’m part of, and I can never escape that. My circumstances will always be the same.”
Harry also said: “I’ve given 35 years of service to this country, two tours of Afghanistan.
“I was born into these risks, they’ve only increased over time.”
‘This is an establishment stitch-up’
Prince Harry railed against the committee responsible for keeping senior royals safe, the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec).
Ravec, which takes decision on behalf of the government, decided the prince would not automatically receive comprehensive security when in the *** as he stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
It did so without carrying out a full review into threats Prince Harry faced at the time – but the Court of Appeal concluded it had done so for “sensible” reasons, and that a review would not have changed the outcome.
Prince Harry said his “jaw hit the floor” when he learned a representative of the Royal Household sits on the Ravec committee, and claimed that allowed it to exercise influence over what security members of the Royal Family get.
Prince Harry claimed the committee’s then-chair Sir Richard Mottram “abandoned” a full review of his security arrangements after speaking to the Royal Household.
The prince also said: “I have had it described to me, once people knew about the facts, that this is a good old fashioned establishment stitch up – and that’s what it feels like.”
‘End of the road – but Starmer must step in’
Prince Harry confirmed he would not be taking his legal challenge against the government to the Supreme Court, the only option left to him after Friday’s ruling.
He said the decision had “proven that there was no way to win this through the courts”, adding: “I don’t want any battles to continue.
“There is way too much suffering and way too much conflict in the world.”
However, he did call on the government to directly intervene in how decisions are made by Ravec, which he said was “not constrained by law”.
He said: “I’d ask the prime minister to step in. I would ask Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, to look at this very, very carefully.
“And I would ask her to review Ravec and its members… because if it is an expert body, then what is the royal household’s role there if it isn’t to influence and decide what they want for the members of their household?”
What Buckingham Palace has said
Commenting after the BBC interview, Buckingham Palace said: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”

Vine continues Aussie cycling victory spree in Europe
Vine continues Aussie cycling victory spree in Europe
Jay Vine has continued the recent wave of *********** cycling success on the European roads, powering away over the final kilometre to steal the third stage of the prestigious Swiss race, the Tour de Romandie.
The 29-year-old Townsville rider’s brilliant effort came on Thursday, 24 hours after Michael Matthews had won the Eschborn-Frankfurt one-day race and a week after Michael Storer took the overall victory at the Tour of the Alps.
Vine’s win was also an emotional one for the UAE Team Emirates star as it was his first individual WorldTour victory in Europe since his terrible ****** at last year’s Tour of the Basque Country when he feared for a while he may never walk again.
“It’s pretty incredible. It’s been a long road back to recovery from my neck injury last year,” said Vine, who after breaking two vertebrae was back racing four months later and even won the King of the Mountains classification at the Vuelta a Espana.
“It’s three wins this year so far, and my first WorldTour win in in a long time (since the 2023 Tour Down Under), so I’m really happy. And I know my son and wife are watching at home,” said Vine, who had become a father last year while recuperating from his horror accident.
It was a brilliant piece of opportunism that propelled Vine to victory just after the “flamme rouge” one-kilometre-to-go marker on the 183.1km trek around Cossonay in the west of Switzerland.
“The first two hours had been really, really hard, felt like it was being motor paced. But after that climb, the gap was being reduced to (the leader) Stefan (Kung), and I thought, ‘okay, I gotta be up here in this group to minimise time gaps, so I might as well see what I can do and have a crack’.”
Even as he made his striking attack, he reckoned he wasn’t quite sure he’d be able to hold on.
“I’m not very bright, so I was like, ‘Oh, is it 1k to the top of the climb? Or 1k to the finish?’, he reflected with a smile.
