  3. You can put Google Gemini right on your smartphone home screen – here’s how You can put Google Gemini right on your smartphone home screen – here’s how Google has launched Gemini home screen widgets for Android and iOS devices The widgets let users access Gemini AI features with a single tap The widgets are customizable and allow users to prioritize their most-used Gemini actions If you like using Google Gemini on your smartphone but find it tedious to tap multiple times to get to the feature you want, Google has you covered. The tech giant has begun rolling out Gemini home screen widgets for both Android and iOS. That means a single tap can launch right into a conversation with Gemini, open the microphone for a voice conversation, share a file with the AI, or even snap a photo with the camera that will go right to Gemini. The rollout is happening gradually but widely. If you’re running Android 10 or higher, you can already add the Gemini widget by long-pressing on your home screen, tapping “Widgets,” finding Gemini in the list, and dragging it wherever you want it to live. For iOS 17 and up, it’s a similar story: hold your home screen until the icons jiggle, tap the plus button, search for Gemini, and add your widget of choice. You can also customize it by long-pressing it again and swapping out shortcuts or rearranging which actions appear first, such as the microphone for voice chats or the camera button for visual searches. This update isn’t necessarily groundbreaking, but it speaks to the way a lot of people might use Gemini for short activities or tasks but don’t want to immerse themselves in it more than necessary. You may like If you use Gemini every day to ask questions, create funny images, plan trips, or brainstorm emails, this could make accessing the AI a little more convenient. The fact that it is also closer to how Siri and the rapidly dissolving Google Assistant function is probably not a coincidence. These aren’t Gemini’s first mobile widgets either. Google released very similar Gemini widgets a couple of months ago for the iPhone lockscreen. Though functionally very similar, they are technically a different form of widget. Google is gradually rolling out the home screen Gemini widget over the next week, so you may only have the lock screen variant available right now. The widgets also offer a glimpse into Google’s strategy for infusing Gemini into our daily lives. They want people to think about AI as not just something you call on occasionally, but as a day-to-day tool that is instantly and easily accessible. Instead of lurking in the background, Gemini becomes a part of the interface. Starting with mobile devices is a smart move for making Gemini feel more like a core service. A lot of people first try out new tech features and products on mobile devices, not on their laptops or desktop computers. If they like it on a mobile device, maybe that will translate to desktop usage. And if you’re going to use AI on your phone, it should be quick and casual, like checking the weather or the time. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. Gemini’s widgets are fairly basic at the moment, but they set the foundation for more complex widgets to come. Imagine a future widget that surfaces ongoing conversations so you can finish an interrupted project, or one that shows real-time updates from custom topics you follow, or even offers proactive suggestions based on your habits. All in all, these new widgets are less about bells and whistles and more about removing friction. They aim to give Gemini a faster, more native-feeling way into your daily habits, whether on Android or iPhone. The widget may be the wedge Gemini needs to fulfill every little request an AI assistant can handle. 4. BitFuFu’s Recurring Revenue Model Offers Stability in a Volatile Crypto Market BitFuFu’s Recurring Revenue Model Offers Stability in a Volatile Crypto Market In a harshly competitive market what we, as investors, are really buying is a good management team. For competition will change the way that marketplace is working over time. It is the speed and skill of the management is responding to that that will determine the medium term performance of the investment. So, that’s the task, looking for management who seem to know what they’re doing. In and associated markets we do seem to find this with BitFuFu Inc (NASDAQ:). Or, at least, that’s my contention from looking at what they’re currently doing. We’ll get to the details in a moment, But as an oversight we know that scale matters, scale really matters, in Bircoin. Being large enough not to have to join other peoples’ mining pools for example – and therefore capturing the margin from running the pool. Similarly, being large enough to be able to scoop up good energy deals – by far the largest operating cost is the simple energy cost. Similarly, scale means being able to build one’s own data centres, order chips in bulk – and avoid that margin killer, buying retail – and so on. So, doing pretty much anything to gain scale is a useful thing to be doing – because scale is where the margin is. We might even suggest that operating mutiple activities, revenue streams, if they contribute to scale are worthwhile. Even if the activity itself isn’t particularly profitable just that addition of scale improves margins over all of the business. So, what we end up with is a capital light mining operation. The cloud side has some 60,000 clients each paying a monthly fee for access to computing power and the system. The point from the corporate side is that that is all revenue which builds the hash rate and bulks up the power buying side – increasing margins on the whole business. This leverages the other capital light part of the business. Which is not so much to own but to lease facilities themselves. Think about this for a moment. Those buying cloud mining think that they are buying a service. From the point of view of the company they’re providing capital – but they’re not being paid the cost of capital. The point about this is that this is a clever business model. The very thing we’re looking for. We can also run with a slightly more tactical than strategic view. The specter of a global economic slowdown has reemerged as a pressing concern for investors. President Donald Trump’s recent “Liberation Day” announcement has reignited fears of an escalating trade war with potentially far-reaching economic consequences. Financial markets reacted swiftly: U.S. equities saw a surge in volatility, bond yields spiked, and stagflationary concerns regained prominence among institutional players. This evolving macroeconomic backdrop, marked by potential rewiring of global trade, presents both risk and opportunity. While traditional sectors face headwinds from rising import costs and disrupted supply chains, certain alternative assets and industries are showing signs of relative resilience or even potential upside. One standout segment amid this uncertainty has been digital assets. Bitcoin, in particular, has surged back to nearly $100,000 following Trump’s tariff rhetoric, reinforcing its emerging role as a hedge against currency debasement and macroeconomic instability. More intriguingly, shares of cryptocurrency mining firms rallied in tandem. Marathon Digital Holdings (NASDAQ:), the largest publicly listed U.S. miner has gained over 17 percent since Trump’s tariff announcement. This performance suggests that investors are beginning to distinguish between industries directly exposed to tariffs and those potentially positioned to benefit from a fragmented global economic order. Against this backdrop, there is growing investor interest in the structure and strategy of cryptocurrency infrastructure companies. Some firms are proving more adaptable than others, both operationally and financially. BitFuFu is, as we know, a US-listed cloud mining and hosting platform offering exposure to Bitcoin mining economics through a capital-efficient model. Backed in its early days by Bitmain, BitFuFu gained not only capital support but also priority access to mining equipment. However, instead of building massive asset heavy operations from the start, BitFuFu adopted a capital light model, leasing hash rate and energy capacity while offering cloud mining services to over 600,000 users globally. Bitmain itself has significantly diversified its manufacturing base, operating across countries in Southeast Asia and the U.S. As a result, the supply chain for mining hardware is more geographically distributed than often assumed, providing some insulation from tariff risks, at least in the near term. BitFuFu’s hosting operations are similarly global, spanning Ethiopia, Indonesia, Brazil, and beyond. This distributed footprint enables the company to dynamically adjust its operations based on local cost and regulatory shifts, an agility that traditional location-bound miners lack. Moreover, BitFuFu’s model supports more predictable revenues. Rather than depending solely on Bitcoin block rewards, it earns recurring income through service fees from both retail and institutional clients. The company is actively expanding its institutional offerings as well, ranging from custody and hardware brokerage to white label mining services designed to deliver Bitcoin yield without operational complexity. Financially, BitFuFu is gaining momentum. The company reported 2024 revenue of $463.3 million, up 63 percent from $284.1 million in 2023. This growth was driven by expanded cloud mining through effective customer acquisition and self-mining capacity. While the company continues to emphasize operational flexibility, it is also selectively expanding its owned data center capacity to strengthen long-term control and reduce energy and electricity costs. Management aims to scale owned power capacity to 1 gigawatt by 2026, a clear signal of ambition to become a global mining infrastructure leader. Yet despite this growth trajectory, BitFuFu remains significantly undervalued relative to peers. Consider the price to sales comparison: Marathon Digital (MARA): $656.4M FY2024 revenue, $4.86B market cap = 7.4x P/S BitFuFu (FUFU): $463.3M FY2024 revenue, $534M market cap = 1.2x P/S This implies an 83.8% valuation discount, despite BitFuFu’s transition to profitability and more diversified, recurring revenue streams. While Marathon’s higher liquidity and U.S. footprint justify some premium, the scale of this gap appears excessive given BitFuFu’s operational flexibility and earnings visibility. If tariffs do intensify and trigger recessionary conditions, firms with capital efficient models, diversified global operations, and stable income streams will likely be more resilient. In this context, cryptocurrency infrastructure companies structured more like service providers than industrial miners stand out as attractive investment candidates. BitFuFu’s deep valuation discount, paired with its strategic advantages, suggests meaningful upside potential, especially as investors become more attuned to capital efficiency, geopolitical diversification, and recurring revenue strength within the digital asset ecosystem. It’s up to us which view we prefer. Do we want to think of what the company’s actually doing and the relationship between that and their current marketplace? Or are we more interested in having a clever management team working on our behalf? I like both ideas myself. 6. Man City 1-0 Wolves: Is Kevin de Bruyne leaving too soon? Man City 1-0 Wolves: Is Kevin de Bruyne leaving too soon? De Bruyne’s final home game will come against Bournemouth on 20 May, with away matches to play at Southampton and Fulham. And he can ensure a dream ending if City beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley. “Maybe he is still good enough to play here,” said former Manchester City defender Micah Richards. “Maybe he hasn’t the press, but quality – he believes he can still play at the top level. He has said he is playing injury-free now. “Age catches up though with you, and your body can’t do what you want to do. But he keeps the ball and his football intelligence is still there. He is telling the club ‘I can still play at this level’. “I am talking as a fan, and I am a fan of KDB. Something in me just says ‘one more year’ – he can still do it. Maybe it is just a business decision.” Does Richards have a point? De Bruyne has scored 30 Premier League goals since turning 30 years old, with Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure the only players to score more for City with 41 apiece. He became the first player since the great Lionel Messi to register 250 goal involvements under Guardiola, with 92 goals and 158 assists in nine seasons. Meanwhile, Wolves will be glad to see the back of De Bruyne as the midfielder has now scored six goals and provided five assists in 11 league games against them. But over the past two seasons, the Belgian has made just 43 Premier League appearances because of a series of injuries. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher said De Bruyne is still “levels above the elite players in the world”, adding: “He doesn’t think he has finished at the top level. “He still thinks he can play at the top level of European football. I thought maybe he would go to Saudi Arabia or America, but after hearing him speak, it sounds like he isn’t ready for that. “He is one of the highest-paid players in world football and has been injured a lot. It has been hard to justify giving him a new deal from a business point of view. He is still a star player but he is not going to play every week. “Let’s talk about the statue – for me he is Manchester City’s greatest ever player.” Source link #Man #City #Wolves #Kevin #Bruyne #leaving Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

  9. Shotgun Cop Man, Promise Mascot Agency, And More New Games To Watch Shotgun Cop Man, Promise Mascot Agency, And More New Games To Watch Believe it or not, we play a lot of games here at Game Informer, but it isn’t always easy getting our hands on everything, let alone finishing them and writing a proper review. We’re always looking for more ways to point readers towards the most interesting games available – especially those that could easily slip through the cracks – so we’ve created Spotlight to highlight the cool games we’ve been dabbling with recently that we believe may be worth your time. We love chatting with each other about the games we check out each day, and we want to add you to the conversation. Here is a selection of noteworthy titles some of the editors have been sampling and want to shout out. Shotgun Cop Man Platforms: Switch, PC – Release: May 1 DeadToast Entertainment’s previous 2D gun-blasting physics side-scroller, My Friend Pedro, didn’t totally click with me, but it had neat ideas. Shotgun Cop Man feels like an ultra-refined follow-up. As a shotgun-wielding cop (and perhaps the strangest-looking game protagonist ever), you’re on a mission to arrest Satan himself. This means blasting through dozens of short levels where you can only propel yourself using firearms like pistols, automatic weapons, and, of course, shotguns. Shotgun Cop Man’s unique spin on Super Meat Boy-esque precision platforming is a blast. Shooting to send the cop flying in different directions while simultaneously peppering enemies (often in mid-air) works extremely well. Levels are designed to encourage speedrunning and split-second thinking as you manage limited bullets (which replenish when you touch the floor) to evade traps and other obstacles while trying to fulfill optional objectives like killing every enemy, taking no damage, or finishing within a time limit. The thrill of flying through a stage within seconds while taking out everyone in front of me is powerful, and I’m having an awesome time trying to bring Satan to justice. – Marcus Stewart Blades of Fire Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC – Release May 22 Blades of Fire is the new game from MercurySteam, the developers behind Metroid Dread, Metroid: Samus Returns, and, perhaps most relevant, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Blades of Fire is not a sequel to Lords of Shadow. It’s not even that similar to Lords of Shadow in the most important ways, but I can’t help but feel like the game might be a spiritual successor to the 2010 Castlevania action game. The game follows protagonist Aran de Lira, who, from my recent hands-on time with the game, seems like a wrong-place-right-time blacksmith who lives by himself in the woods and gets pulled into an adventure. I have only played the first hour or two of a preview build, but I like Aran’s performance (he reminds me of Robert Carlyle’s Gabriel Belmont), and his young partner, Adso, reminds me of Atreus from God of War in a complimentary way. The combat is also interesting, with the four face buttons dictating the directions Aran swings his weapons. The unique fighting system makes it feel different in a way that leaves a positive first impression. There is also a dedicated minigame for smithing all your weapons, which I’m curious to play with more. Blades of Fire is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 22. You can also watch Marcus Stewart and me play the game in the recent New Gameplay Today episode above. – Kyle Hilliard MotoGP 25 Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC – Release: April 30 Motorcycle racing games are a distinct niche in a broader genre, and the unique physics and gameplay certainly aren’t a fit for everyone. But developer Milestone has put forward an impressive offering in this year’s installment of the MotoGP franchise, and it’s worth a close look if you’re ready for a new driving challenge. The game is awash in new features, including a new arcade-style physics system that joins the existing simulation-style experience. New Unreal Engine 5 visuals, a revised approach to career play, and a more robust approach to developing your bike’s tech all add levels of depth and verisimilitude, even as the game takes clear steps to cater to both its established player base while also welcoming newcomers. If your video game racing career has mostly been about fast cars, MotoGP 25 gives you a new line to master. – Matt Miller Promise Mascot Agency Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One – Release: April 10 Developer Kaizen Game Works released Paradise Killer in 2020 to a strong reception. It’s a bizarre game about gods and immortality, and though its follow-up, Promise Mascot Agency, is very different, it retains that engaging strangeness that has become the developer’s calling card. Promise Mascot Agency imagines a world where humans co-exist with mascots. They look like what we would think of as mascots in our world – a person in a giant costume – but instead, they’re basically a type of creature that talks and feels like a typical human. In the game, you are a disgraced Yakuza forced to earn money for your syndicate by managing an agency that recruits and sends mascots to various events. And you did this by driving a car around an open world, playing an occasional card game, and engaging with various characters. I’ve only spent a few hours with the game, but it pulled me into its strange, comedic world quickly. Also, the driving, which makes up the majority of gameplay, makes me recall fond memories of exploring Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto III. I have not made it to credits yet, but I am eager to keep playing in the strange universe Kaizen Game Works has created. – Kyle Hilliard Source link #Shotgun #Cop #Man #Promise #Mascot #Agency #Games #Watch Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

In a 102-page decision, U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell ruled in favor of the firm and said Mr. Trump’s directive that sought to punish it sent the message that “lawyers must stick to the party line, or else.” “Using the powers of the federal government to target lawyers for their representation of clients and avowed progressive employment policies in an overt attempt to suppress and punish certain viewpoints, however, is contrary to the Constitution, which requires that the government respond to dissenting or unpopular speech or ideas with ‘tolerance, not coercion,'” Howell wrote. 16. Marjorie Taylor Greene turns on Trump administration Marjorie Taylor Greene turns on Trump administration Donald Trump loyalist Marjorie Taylor Greene has turned on his administration in an extraordinary intervention. In a rare rebuke, the Republican congresswoman has broken ranks to suggest the administration was losing its base. “I represent the base and when I’m frustrated and upset over the direction of things, you better be clear, the base is not happy,” she wrote in a lengthy post on X. Ms Taylor Greene, one of the loudest voices of the Maga movement, said she was “frustrated” with the direction of the administration, claiming it was not delivering promises she had campaigned on. She said: “When you are losing MTG, you are losing the base. And Trump isn’t on the ballot in the future, so do the math on that.” Ms Taylor Greene compared the signing of the Ukrainian minerals deal to the invasion of Iraq, and questioned why Mr Trump’s team had not pulled approvals for the Covid vaccine, which she claimed “does not stop people from catching Covid”. She added: “I campaigned for no more foreign wars. And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran. “And on top of that, now we are told that we have signed a deal for mineral rights in Ukraine, in order to pay us back for the hundreds of billions of dollars that we gave Ukraine. “Why don’t we just mine our own rare earth minerals that are tied up on federal lands that the government confiscated years ago?” Her comments reflect nervousness within the GOP over the direction of travel by the Trump administration. Ms Taylor Greene, once a pariah in her party, is one of the president’s most loyal supporters in the House of Representatives and is a leading figure in the party’s hard-Right national populist base. She has built her political brand around the staunch defence of Mr Trump, supporting his positions unconditionally. On Friday, a poll measuring the popularity of potential candidates for the 2026 Georgia senate seat placed her dead last. After first being elected in 2020, Ms Taylor Greene, 50, has previously been referred to as the “QAnon candidate”. She was removed from the House budget committee and the education and labour committee over posts on social media. When she compared mask mandates to the Holocaust, Kevin McCarthy, then-Republican leader of the House, called her comments “appalling”. She has since risen in the Republican ranks and is now chairman Mr Trump’s new department of government efficiency subcommittee. Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism. 18. M&S supplier back to pen and paper after cyber attack M&S supplier back to pen and paper after cyber attack One of Marks & Spencer’s biggest suppliers has resorted to using pen and paper for orders as the disruption from the cyber attack on the retailer continues. The boss of Greencore, which supplies sandwiches, rolls and wraps, says it has also ramped up deliveries by a fifth to make sure there is more than enough food for the bank holiday weekend. M&S has been unable to offer online orders for clothing and homewares for over a week, and some stores have seen empty shelves as food deliveries have also been disrupted. Two M&S workers told the BBC they were concerned about pay because they were unable to clock in and out of work and could not access staff apps. In a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes situation at M&S, Greencore chief executive Dalton Philips said: “In the absence of having all the systems speaking to each other, you revert to how it was 25 years ago.” That means back to “pen and paper”, he said. Greencore has also been putting on additional shifts at its dedicated M&S factory in Northampton, putting more lorries on the road, and is sending more food to stores than they did over Christmas. “They’re a massive customer for us and we’re trying to flood them with products to help them,” said Mr Philips. “There are times when you do need to revert to manual systems in any business… but look, it works well. “With the challenges of the system we don’t have intricate forecasting that we would have previously had, so we’re just making sure that they’ve got everything they need and some more.” George, not his real name, works at an M&S in Wales, and said it has been “a nightmare”. “We have been told pay will be given through a separate payment system. However, we have not been told whether the pay will be correct. “Additionally, there have been back-and-forth instructions, which have changed hourly. For example: remove gift cards from shop floor, put them back (when working).” Jeannette Pellen, 76, in Doncaster who retired from her role as an M&S customer assistant in a Scunthorpe store at the end of April, said they had been unable to clock in and out of work as a result of the attack. “There is no way of receiving advice via managers or the outsourced HR,” she told the BBC. M&S has reassured staff that they will be paid for all contracted hours as usual. As a former chief executive of the supermarket chain Morrisons, Mr Philips knows only too well the pressure M&S bosses are under. “They will be literally working 24/7. You’ve got to work your way through it. Whenever I’ve spoken to the team this week, it’s been really impressive how calm and focused they are. “I think if you work in retail, you know people are often the most on their game and motivated at those periods of intense pressure.” Greencore has also sent a handful of its own staff to key M&S stores in London to provide extra support. M&S hasn’t released details on how its systems have been affected, saying only that some have been temporarily taken offline leading to pockets of limited availability in stores. One food industry veteran who knows the business well thinks M&S will be focusing on making sure it can still provide all of its best-selling items. “The issue is, if you’ve got 7,000 products, then obviously that’s a lot of data to review.” But he also pointed out that for big seasonal events there will be a lot of buying in advance and the company will have historical back-ups. Suppliers will also have a view on what will sell well. Ged Futter, a former buyer for Asda who now runs his own consultancy advising suppliers, says M&S is in a difficult situation, but believes it will find a way round it as retailers are very good at finding solutions. “If they have to, they’ll use a fax machine. Any silo mentality disappears and everyone becomes very clearly focused on how to fix it.” But the longer this goes on, the risk of damage to M&S’s reputation and to its customer loyalty increases. The company has been praised for its communications with customers, but has kept quiet on the nature of the attack and how it unfolded. That may not be sustainable for much longer. The chair of the Business and Trade Select Committee, Liam Byrne, has written to M&S chief executive Stuart Machin seeking reassurances, saying it was “imperative” to understand what had happened. One person, who is a former chief executive at another firm and had to deal with a data breach, told the BBC the advice from his PR adviser was simple. “Say nothing until you know everything. Then say everything. Then say nothing.” M&S has been contacted for comment. (NASDAQ:), the tech behemoth that has long been a darling of Wall Street, is facing an unusual convergence of challenges that threaten to derail its momentum. Despite beating earnings expectations in its most recent quarterly report, the company now confronts multiple headwinds that have investors increasingly concerned about its near-term prospects. These challenges span from legal battles that could fundamentally alter its business model to geopolitical tensions affecting its supply chain. As the company navigates these troubled waters, its stock performance has begun to reflect the market’s growing anxiety about Apple’s ability to maintain its dominant position in the technology ecosystem. Apple Faces Multiple Headwinds as Stock Price Dips Apple’s carefully constructed walled garden is showing signs of cracking under regulatory pressure. A landmark ruling in the Epic v. Apple case has delivered a significant blow to the company’s control over its App Store. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled that Apple can no longer collect fees on purchases made outside apps, effectively dismantling a key revenue driver for the company. The judge determined that Apple had “willfully” chosen not to comply with her previous 2021 injunction, even referring the case to the US attorney for possible criminal contempt proceedings. Under the ruling, Apple is prohibited from imposing commissions on external purchases, restricting developers’ design choices for external payment links, and limiting buttons or calls to action within apps. The impact of this ruling was immediately apparent as Spotify (NYSE:) quickly submitted and received approval for an app update that allows users to see pricing details and make purchases outside the app, circumventing Apple’s commission structure entirely. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney announced plans to return Fortnite to the US App Store, further signaling the weakening of Apple’s iron grip on its ecosystem. Compounding these regulatory challenges, Apple is grappling with the economic impact of tariffs. During the earnings call, CEO Tim Cook revealed that tariffs will add approximately $900 million to the company’s costs for the current quarter alone. While Apple has mitigated some of this impact by sourcing about half of its iPhones for the US market from India and other products from Vietnam, Cook admitted it’s “very difficult” to predict the tariff impact beyond June. This uncertainty comes despite Apple’s efforts to reduce dependency on ******** manufacturing, including its purchase of 19 billion chips from US suppliers this year. Apple’s Stock Continues to Decline Despite Beating Wall Street Expectations Apple’s stock has responded negatively to these mounting pressures. Following the earnings report on May 1, 2025, shares fell in premarket trading to $206.89, representing a significant drop of $6.43 (-3.01%) from the previous day’s close of $213.32. This decline came despite Apple beating Wall Street’s expectations with quarterly earnings per share of $1.65, 1.44% above analyst projections. The current market reaction reflects growing concern about Apple’s ability to maintain its growth trajectory. While the company’s long-term performance remains impressive—with a five-year return of 204.09% that substantially outpaces the S&P 500’s 97.98%—its year-to-date performance tells a different story. Apple’s stock has declined 14.72% since the beginning of 2025, significantly underperforming the broader market, which has seen a more modest decline of 4.72%. Key metrics highlight the conflicting signals investors are receiving. With a market capitalization of $3.2 trillion, Apple remains one of the world’s most valuable companies. Its profit margin stands at a healthy 24.30%, with a remarkable return on equity of 138.01%. The company continues to generate substantial cash flow, with total revenue of $400.37 billion in the trailing twelve months. However, its PE ratio of 33.86 suggests that investors are now paying a premium compared to historical valuations, potentially indicating diminished growth expectations. Analyst opinions remain mixed, with the average price target of $234.97 suggesting potential upside from current levels. However, recent headlines indicate that Apple has been hit with two downgrades as tariff and growth worries intensify. As the company prepares for its next earnings announcement expected between July 30 and August 4, 2025, investors will be watching closely to see if Apple can navigate these difficult waters or if the current headwinds represent a more fundamental shift in the company’s fortunes. *** Neither the author, Tim Fries, nor this website, The Tokenist, provide financial advice. 21. Texas man sentenced for shooting trans woman while out on bond for ******* Texas man sentenced for shooting trans woman while out on bond for ******* A man in Texas was sentenced to 48 years in prison for shooting a transgender woman in 2023 while he was out on bail on a ******* charge. John Lee Smith III, 25, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for shooting the trans woman, whose name was not released, in a car on the morning of August 23, 2023, Gregg County District Attorney John W. Moore said in a press release posted to social media. Officers from the Longview Police Department were notified that the victim was seeking treatment for a life-threatening gunshot wound at the University of Texas Tyler Main Hospital in Tyler. Smith at first denied shooting the victim and denied knowing her. He later changed his story and admitted knowing and shooting the victim, but said he did so after discovering she was a trans woman. Police presented evidence establishing that Smith was involved with the woman and that he knew she was trans. At the time of the shooting, Smith was out on bond on a charge of ******* in the death of Phillip Hudson, 31, in Longview on July 21, 2022. Hudson was the father of two children of Smith’s then-girlfriend, and Smith was accused of shooting him to death in front of her, local ABC affiliate KLTV reported in 2023. He was taken into custody but was released on April 3, 2023, after he posted a $125,000 bond. During the sentencing phase of the trial, Smith’s attorneys portrayed him as a victim of unwanted ******* advances who snapped, while prosecutors said he was always armed while on bond and showed no mercy to others, KLTV reports. As part of the plea bargain, prosecutors agreed to drop the prior ******* charge, plus additional weapons charges. Smith made the plea without a sentencing agreement, knowing he could receive a sentence between two years to life in prison, enhanced by a prior conviction. The district attorney misgendered the victim in his statement. Source link #Texas #man #sentenced #shooting #trans #woman #bond #******* Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero Review | NoobFeed Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero Review | NoobFeed Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes: “When it comes to Nippon Ichi Software the first game series that many will think of is Disgaea, and rightly so since not only is that their first major game to make a mark in the West, but it is also one that they have tapped into consistently throughout the years, be it sequels, spin-offs, enhanced editions, and more. This has left quite a few of their other RPGs lost to the past or rarely touched to the point that not too long ago the company brought some of these RPGs out again through classics collections. One such game that was included in those collections happened to be Phantom Brave, an oft revisited title by Nippon Ichi that saw various enhancements through the years but never was given a chance at a sequel. Until now that is. Arriving over twenty years after the first game, Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero gives fans a chance to see how Marona and Ash’s story will continue, but will it be for the best?” Source link #Phantom #Brave #Lost #Hero #Review #NoobFeed Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  25. Disastrous back-to-back heatwaves and droughts surge across Eurasia Disastrous back-to-back heatwaves and droughts surge across Eurasia Drought conditions can have devastating impacts on Eurasian regions like Karapinar in Turkey YASIN AKGUL/AFP via Getty Images Over the past two decades, swathes of Eurasia – from Ukraine’s breadbasket to cities in northern China – have seen a spike in extreme heatwaves followed by droughts. A tree ring record extending back nearly three centuries suggests human-caused climate change is to blame for the increase in these disastrous compound events. This pattern can be especially damaging because of how heat and drought feed off each other: high temperatures dry out soil, and drought then deprives it of moisture to cool things off during the next heat wave. This vicious cycle has devastating impacts, from lower agricultural yields to higher wildfire risk. While parts of Eurasia have seen this heatwave-drought pattern before, “the present trend is just way outside of natural variability”, says Hans Linderholm at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. The full picture only became clear after Linderholm and his colleagues assembled tree ring records, which preserved temperature and precipitation conditions since 1741, from across Eurasia. They used this to reconstruct the large-scale distribution of high and low-pressure systems that naturally drives wet and dry conditions across the continent. The researchers found a particular scenario in this region, which they call the “trans-Eurasian heatwave-drought train”, has markedly intensified since 2000, with the size of heat and precipitation anomalies jumping above those measured at any other time in the record. They link this change to disruptions in atmospheric pressure caused by heating in the North Atlantic and increased rainfall in part of northern Africa – both of which are associated with anthropogenic climate change. Rising local temperatures can also directly exacerbate extreme heat and drought. But the new finding shows how climate change is also shifting relationships between distant parts of the atmosphere – known as teleconnections – to disrupt things even more, says Linderholm. The team’s projections, based on climate models, suggest things will get worse under all but the lowest emission scenarios. “We see that this new teleconnection pattern has a really distinct strong trend, which means things will most likely go quicker, and there will be more severe impacts,” says Linderholm. “We have difficulty seeing how [the most affected places are] going to recover,” he says.
