Counter-Strike 2 Player Count Will Keep Dropping Until It Adds One Key Feature
Counter-Strike 2 Player Count Will Keep Dropping Until It Adds One Key Feature
Counter-Strike 2 might be breaking concurrent player count records, but under the surface, every player knows that it won’t last. Despite topping 1.86 million concurrent players in April 2025, the game has more cheaters than ever, and the community is growing tired. If you asked any CS2 player what they want most from the game, they’d say the same thing.
Valve needs to add an actually useful and working anti-cheat for the game. When players are reporting cheaters multiple games in a row and getting no results, you know something’s wrong. And we get a meaningful solution soon, many believe the game is, in their words, “cooked.”
Counter-Strike 2’s player count doesn’t matter if this problem isn’t fixed
The cheating problem is by far the biggest one that Counter-Strike 2 has. For the entire time that the game has been out, players have reported being killed through walls, tracked while walking, or facing new accounts with suspicious stats and expensive skins. The term “game sense” is like a secondhand term for wallhacks at this point.

Comment byu/shadowwq from discussion inGlobalOffensive
The worst thing is that this was the same situation in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and we all know that little has changed. Counter-Strike’s popularity is part of the problem. As one of Steam’s most played games for over a decade, CS2 naturally attracts cheaters. And since the game has hundreds of thousands of players every day, it makes sure that cheats are constantly updated.
One of the biggest requests that the community has is a kernel-level anti-cheat like Riot Games’ Vanguard anti-cheat for Valorant. Unfortunately, that’s a bit unlikely. Valve’s commitment to user privacy means they’re unlikely to implement a system like Vanguard. Kernel-mode anti-cheats can see nearly everything on our computers, which is a security concern. But without that level of access, any other anti-cheat is just weaker.
Comment byu/kepler2 from discussion incs2
And that’s exactly what Valve’s current anti-cheat is. Vavle Anti Cheat, or VAC, has become something of a meme at this point because of how ineffective it is at detecting cheaters. Some players have said they went against cheaters multiple games in a row, and there are literally videos of people livestreaming themselves using cheats and not getting banned.
If Valve is making a better anti-cheat, we need to know
The community has been asking for it for years now. | Image Credit: Valve
Valve’s silent development philosophy hasn’t helped either. The way Valve does things with its games is that the devs rarely give us any information about what the next update is, or if they’re taking any input from the community at all. So if there’s some anti-cheat update coming, we have no idea at all.
As Reddit user u/eve_of_distraction said, “I’d like Valve to abandon their obnoxious and dysfunctional philosophy of not communicating with the community.” Without a timeline, roadmap, or regular updates, all we can do is assume the worst. And the worst-case scenario is that no meaningful fix is coming anytime soon.
We really aren’t asking for much, just a working anti-cheat system that keeps blatant cheaters out of ranked matches. The current reliance on third-party platforms for better games is just absurd. The game may be setting records, but how long will players tolerate getting killed from the other side of the match as soon as the game starts?
What’s your bucket list of demands for Counter-Strike 2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Sir Chris Hoy: Six-time Olympic champion says ******* in ‘stability *******’
Sir Chris Hoy is appreciating life “more than ever” after being diagnosed with terminal ******* last year and says he has entered “a bit of a stability *******” in his treatment.
The 49-year-old, a six-time Olympic cycling gold medallist, said in February 2024 that he was undergoing treatment for prostate *******.
In October, he announced his diagnosis was terminal after the primary ******* spread to his bones, with doctors giving him between two and four years to live.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Hoy issued a positive update on his health: “I’m doing well. It feels like I’ve entered a bit of a stability stage at the moment and I’m feeling good.
“Most importantly, *******’s not the first thing I think about when I go to bed at night. I think we’ve got into a rhythm now where it’s part of our life and we manage that and crack on.
“I feel good. I’m on constant medication, constant treatment, but it’s not interfering too much with my life, and the most important thing is it’s working, so I’m stable at the moment, everything’s good. Making hay while the sun shines.”
The Scot won his six Olympic golds – and one silver medal – between 2000 and 2012, making him Britain’s second-most decorated Olympic athlete behind Sir Jason Kenny (seven golds).
He also claimed 11 World Championship golds and 34 World Cup titles before retiring in 2013.
“I can’t believe the position I’m in now compared to 18 months ago. I never imagined I’d be able to get to this point where I’m actually living life,” he continued.
“And not just living life, but actually appreciating it more than ever. It’s not just about doing bucket-list stuff and doing massive things, it’s about appreciating the daily, mundane fun of life.”

How to save on groceries amid food price inflation

Signs of strain: Grocery debt, food pantry visits
Higher food costs have influenced how many consumers pay for groceries, and how well they are able to keep up with other bills.
“You can’t avoid needing to buy food, needing to buy groceries,” said Kimberly Palmer, a personal finance expert at NerdWallet.
From February 2022 to August 2024, as food prices swelled, credit card delinquencies increased 39.8%, according to a recent report by the Urban Institute. In 2023, the research firm found that about a quarter of adults paid for groceries on a credit card and took on debt as a result.
More Americans are using buy now, pay later loans to buy groceries. About 25% of respondents said they have used buy now, pay later loans to buy groceries this year, up from 14% in 2024, LendingTree found. More are also falling behind on those bills: 41% of respondents made a late payment on a BNPL loan in the past year, higher from 34% the year prior, the report found.
Some consumers are in more dire straits. In the past year, about 19% of polled Americans said they had to get food from a food bank or a pantry, according to a new Pew Research Center report.
‘Use all available resources’ to save on food
When it comes to saving on groceries, you want to do as much preparation as possible, experts say.
“Try to use all available resources,” like comparing prices or going to wholesale or discount locations, Bankrate’s Kates said.
Here are five ways to save on grocery costs:
1. Plan your meals
A good first step is to plan out your meals in advance, said Thomas Gremillion, director of food policy at the Consumer Federation of America.
Once you have an idea of the kinds of meals you’re going to prepare, write out a list of the things you’ll need before stepping into the grocery store.
People tend to spend less money when they go to the grocery store with a list, Gremillion said.
Look over supermarket sales circulars as you plan. Often, they feature discounted prices on certain brands or cuts of meat, said NerdWallet’s Palmer. “Maintaining that flexibility can help,” she said.
2. Stack discounts and coupons
Joining your local store’s loyalty program can help you get additional discounts on top of any weekly sales or deals, Palmer said. While you may have to trade personal information like your phone number or an email, you typically get lower prices in exchange, she said.
On top of sales, look for manufacturer’s coupons, Kates said.
3. Consider store brands
About 56% are buying generic or store-brand products, Credit Karma’s report found.
Doing so can help save on costs. Store brands can cost about 5% to 72% less per serving than name-brand products, according to a 2022 blind test conducted by Consumer Reports. About three quarters of the 70 store-brand products used in the test tasted just as good as the name brand, researchers found.
4. Reconsider where you shop
Compare store prices on their websites and apps, and try to time specific purchases when they’re on *****, Kates said.
In Credit Karma’s report, 22% of consumers said they are prioritizing shopping at retailers that offer promotions. Another 35% are shopping at discount stores like Dollar Tree or Dollar General.
And it’s no secret that shopping in bulk in a wholesale club can also provide savings. Wholesale clubs like BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco or Sam’s Club offer different membership tiers with fees ranging from $50 to $55 for the most basic plans to $110 to $130 for premium versions.
5. Tap government, local aid
The Credit Karma report found that 17% of respondents applied or considered applying for food stamps while 16% are relying on food banks. Those can be valuable resources for families in need.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP benefits, is a federal government program that provides food benefits for qualifying low-income families, said Courtney Alev, the consumer financial advocate at Credit Karma. Contact your local SNAP office for more information; you may need to meet certain requirements in order to qualify.
Local food banks and pantries are available to anyone struggling to afford groceries, and typically more accessible compared to benefits like SNAP, experts say.
However, you might be required to provide information, depending on the food bank’s specific criteria or policies, experts say. For instance, some might require a proof of residence and income, Alev said.
You can look up your nearest food bank on websites like feedingamerica.org or 211.org.

AMD RX 9060 XT leaked specs allege speedy 3.3 GHz GPU clock
AMD RX 9060 XT leaked specs allege speedy 3.3 GHz GPU clock
With its expected Computex unveiling just a week away, the key specifications of AMD’s Radeon RX 9600 XT appear to have spilled forth onto the internet.
The tip comes from prolific leakster momomo_us, but we had to double-take as the otherwise detailed post doesn’t mention the assumed subject of the leak. However, any kind of leak requires a pinch of salt, and this aligns roughly with expectations of the aforementioned 9600 XT, so let’s just add a few more grains and take a closer look.

Decoding the above, we have perhaps a reference and OC model RX 9060 XT being highlighted. The faster card can boost its Navi 44 XT RDNA 4 GPU with 2,048 Stream Processors (SPs) to 3.32 GHz, and has a game clock of 2.78 GHz. While it therefore has half the number of shaders as the potent RX 9070 XT, its boost clock is nearly 12% faster. Moreover, it boosts to almost 32% faster GPU clocks than the RX 9070 model.

Of course, the SP count isn’t the only cut with the RX 9060 XT; the memory system is weaker. Instead of the 16GB of 20 Gbps GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus, here we are expecting either 8GB or 16GB of the same VRAM ICs on a 128-bit bus. That neatly results in half the theoretical peak memory bandwidth for the new mid-ranger, at 320 GB/s.
Shifting our focus back to positives, we note that the RX 9060 XT is tipped to connect to a suitably modern PC via the PCIe 5.0 standard. It is just like its brethren in that respect, and an appealing spec at this tier.
Lastly, the leaked specs mention ports and connectors. PC enthusiasts and DIYers who buy an RX 9060 XT will have ‘just’ three outputs, indicates momomo_us. There’s also just a single 8-pin power connector (max 150W) required by RX 9060 XT installers. The PCIe slot can provide 75W, so that puts a TGP ceiling of 225W on this graphics card – and it should certainly run using less than the 220W RX 9070. However, those remarkably fast GPU clocks and knowing how power-thirsty the RX 9070 XT is, probably means we are looking at over 150W.
The specs are indeed interesting to see, but next week we will be happy to see the official hardware reveal and pricing. Graphics card reviewers might be crushed under the weight of Nvidia RTX 5060 and Computex news at the same time, but we will aim to provide real-world AMD RX 9060 XT testing data ASAP.

Live Updates: Trump Gets Lavish Welcome in Saudi Arabia as He Kicks Off Gulf Tour
Live Updates: Trump Gets Lavish Welcome in Saudi Arabia as He Kicks Off Gulf Tour
American presidents have been visiting Saudi Arabia for decades, and the trips have often produced memorable moments — some dramatic, others downright odd.
As President Trump returns to Saudi Arabia, here is a look back at four moments from past presidential trips to visit leaders of the oil-rich Gulf state.
2022: The Biden Fist Bump
The relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia appeared to be wilting before President Joseph R. Biden Jr. visited Jeddah in 2022.
Mr. Biden, as a candidate in 2019, had vowed to turn Saudi Arabia into a “pariah” over the killing of the Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which the C.I.A. said had been ordered by the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman.
But as Mr. Biden worked in 2022 to manage oil prices, which spiked after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the president took a different tack. Arriving at the Royal Palace, Mr. Biden, grinning slightly, gave the crown prince a fist bump as a bank of cameras rolled.
The Saudi government quickly posted an image of the fist bump on social media. Mr. Biden later told reporters that he had privately confronted Prince Mohammed about the killing, and that the prince “basically said that he was not personally responsible for it.”
Back in Washington, Mr. Biden became impatient when pressed on the fist bump. “Why don’t you guys talk about something that matters?” he chided a reporter.
Within months, Mr. Biden acknowledged that the trip had not produced the surge in Saudi oil production that he had sought.
2017: Trump and the Orb
It looked like something from a children’s movie.
During a visit to Riyadh, the Saudi capital, early in his first term, Mr. Trump found himself laying hands on a glowing white orb.
Beside him, King Salman of Saudi Arabia and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt also placed their hands on the sphere. An image of the men touching the orb — with the first lady, Melania Trump, looking on — circulated widely on social media, with memes multiplying in short order.
One meme likened the image to that of Saruman, the “Lord of the Rings” villain, tapping into a seeing stone.
But the orb in Riyadh was not, it turned out, magical.
The sphere was a translucent globe, apparently decorative, at a facility filled with computer terminals and devoted to combating extremist ideology.
1974: Nixon Says, ‘We Need Wisdom’
President Richard M. Nixon met a warm reception in Jeddah during a five-nation sweep through the Middle East in the spring of 1974.
Nixon arrived hoping to encourage the country to help reduce oil prices, according to passages of his memoirs published by the Richard Nixon Foundation.
But he also came with another goal — pushing Saudi Arabia to use its considerable regional influence to push for peace in the Middle East.
In remarks at the State Palace, he emphasized to his hosts that he did not come just to win cheaper oil.
“We can use oil, but we need more, something far more than oil,” the president said. “We need wisdom.”
1945: Roosevelt Gives a Wheelchair
Though he did not travel to Saudi soil, President Franklin D. Roosevelt met with the founder of Saudi Arabia, King Abdulaziz al-Saud, on a U.S. warship in the Great Bitter Lake, part of the Suez Canal in Egypt.
Roosevelt charmed the king, who struggled to walk, by presenting him with the gift of a wheelchair.

I’m Detroit’s new archbishop. As we celebrate Pope Leo XIV, don’t forget Gaza.
I’m Detroit’s new archbishop. As we celebrate Pope Leo XIV, don’t forget Gaza.
The world is rejoicing in the election of Pope Leo XIV, and I am fully with them. However, before we allow our beloved Pope Francis to recede into memory, I would offer one final reflection on him as it pertains to a critical matter quite dear to his heart.
The context is that in the days following the death of Pope Francis, much of the world found itself in mourning and remembering a host of his words, gestures, and teachings that evoked Gospel attributes of mercy, compassion, respect for life, and universal brotherhood. I truly believe Pope Francis will be remembered as a man of great Gospel hope and love.
These are gentle memories for many — memories that warm the heart.
However, as consoling as those memories may be, it would be tragic if we were to forget or overlook one of the greatest concerns of his final years and days, which I believe was a deep wound in his heart: the tragedy of Gaza.
Solidarity with victims everywhere
It is critically important to remember the history and context of the crisis. On Oct. 7, 2023, ****** launched a brutal attack in Israel, killing 1,200 innocent Israeli citizens and taking 251 Israeli hostages into Gaza.
My concern for those who are mourning their dead is profound, along with my prayers and concern for the hostages and their loved ones, who still must live daily in terror and fear.
On the anniversary of the attack last year, while still serving as Bishop of Tucson, Arizona, I was invited to participate in an event of remembrance and prayer at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, where I stood in solidarity with those who mourn their dead, call for the release of hostages, and pray for an end to the hostilities.
Pope Francis also prayed for the dead, condemned their killings and spoke of the Israeli hostages on multiple occasions.
But as the deaths of innocent civilians in Gaza exploded at a terrifying rate, he set the example of how we must stand in solidarity with all victims everywhere.
Pope Francis meets with Palestinians whose relatives are stranded in Gaza, amid conflict between Israel and the ************ Islamist group ******, at the ******** November 22, 2023.
A ongoing crisis
Israel’s campaign in Gaza has now taken 52,000 ************ lives, the vast majority being innocent civilians, including many children.
On March 18 of this year, Israel ended its two-month ceasefire and resumed attacks on Gaza.
From that time, the Israeli military has greatly altered the map of the Gaza enclave, declaring approximately 70% of it either a military red zone or under evacuation orders, requiring hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into ever-smaller pockets.
Israel has also initiated a blockade of humanitarian assistance — most notably of food — which has resulted in a global outcry. The Gaza Strip’s 2.3 million population now depends on aid supplies that have collapsed rapidly since the blockade began.
And as of May 4, Israel has been calling up thousands of reservists to expand the war in Gaza, which many anticipate will involve seizing and occupying more territory in Gaza if not the entire state.
It is also anticipated by many that the Israeli Prime Minister’s security cabinet may ratify a plan to take control of — and sharply reduce — the distribution of lifesaving aid inside Gaza.
While Pope Francis did not live to see these actions, I find it deeply moving that in response to the ongoing situation, one of his final charitable acts was to have a “Popemobile” converted into a mobile health clinic to assist Gaza’s sick and wounded children.
Each life is sacred
Pope Francis insisted that the world must not to look away from the suffering of Gaza’s inhabitants.
He consistently directed our attention to Gaza, and took the prophetic stance of calling the pastor of the lone Catholic Church in Gaza nightly to hear how he and many others (Christians and non-Christians alike) were coping with the crisis while huddling together for safety in the church’s compound. I visited that church myself almost 12 years ago and was humbled and troubled even then by what I observed.
But this was by no means the beginning of his statements and actions.
Several of the Holy Father’s more substantial remarks on Gaza were included in a book authorized by Pope Francis and released ahead of the current Jubilee Year of Hope [2025], in which he also took the remarkable step of calling for an investigation into whether the actions of the Israeli Government constitute genocide — a position maintained by many around the world.
I believe the Holy Father was moved by what was reported to him, as well as his own viewing of photos of razed buildings, dead bodies and starving children.
For those who would criticize the Holy Father for advocating on behalf of the Gaza victims, I would argue that he consistently stood on the side of all those being victimized, regardless of their nationality, religion or political affiliation. His advocacy flowed from his recognition that all of humanity is one family, all human beings have an undeniable dignity, and each life is sacred.
Pope Francis was not antisemitic
I believe that some who want us to look away from Gaza and ignore the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding there may struggle to cast this situation as somehow antisemitic on the part of Pope Francis. Or they may portray him as taking sides in a political matter that does not involve religion.
Such efforts collapse upon themselves.
The Holy Father had only the greatest of respect and appreciation for Judaism and its faithful, as noted in his lifelong friendship with Abraham Skorka, Chief ****** of Argentina. His multiple calls to free the Israeli hostages, his condemnation of all antisemitism and his express hope for Israeli citizens to live in peace and security are further proofs of his desire for only the wellbeing of Israeli citizens and the Jewish faithful throughout the world.
But none of this would stop him from speaking out just as strongly for those who are now being slaughtered, starved or forced from their homes and communities into squalid and unsafe encampments.
A man who would not be silent
I think the lesson for us is two-fold.
First, it is good for us to remember the gentle and kind ways that Pope Francis made visible the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
But in addition to being a man of kindness, compassion, mercy, and loving sacrifice, he was also a man with an iron backbone. He would not be cowed into silence.
In calling for an end to the ongoing destruction of Gaza and the slaughter of its citizens, Pope Francis was speaking a profound and prophetic truth. We would be less than faithful to his legacy if we were to be selective and overlook what was a deep wound in his heart — a wound to which he called our attention often.
And second, I believe we need to amplify his call to end the violence in Gaza and to release the Israeli hostages.
We cannot be silent. We too must speak up as the world witnesses the slaughter of the ************ people. Our call to the Israeli government, as well as our own, is one that flows from Sacred Scripture. It is a call to an end of violence, and an embrace of peace and justice.
The election of Pope Leo XIV has been met with great joy here in his native country, as well as around the world.
As we all look to the future with great hope, a future that will be marked by our new pope’s leadership and priorities, it is critical that we not redirect our attention from where Pope Francis so frequently directed us: the call to justice, peace, and dignity for Gaza.
Along with mercy, kindness, hope and understanding, it remains a crucial part of both his legacy and our future.

Sam Altman says how people use ChatGPT reflects their age – and college students are relying on it to make ‘life decisions’
Sam Altman says how people use ChatGPT reflects their age – and college students are relying on it to make ‘life decisions’
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says the way you use AI differs depending on your age
Speaking at an AI event, Altman explained how different age demographics use ChatGPT in their own way
Older people use ChatGPT as a Google replacement, while those in their 20s and 30s use it like a life advisor, according to Altman
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says the way users interact with ChatGPT changes depending on the user’s age.
Whether that’s “older people who use ChatGPT as a Google replacement,” or “people in their 20s and 30s who use it like a life advisor,” Altman says the interactions with AI differ depending on when you were born.
Speaking at Sequoia Capital’s AI Ascent event, Altman said that while it was a “gross oversimplification,” real trends are appearing in terms of how individuals use ChatGPT. In the YouTube video, which you can watch below, Altman, most interestingly, says that “people in college use it as an operating system.”
You may like
He goes into more detail by explaining how younger individuals interact with ChatGPT and AI as a whole by using it “to connect it to a bunch of files, and they have fairly complex prompts memorized in their head or in something where they paste in and out.”
Altman adds, “There’s this other thing where they don’t really make life decisions without asking ChatGPT what they should do. It has the full context on every person in their life and what they’ve talked about.”
More and more users are indeed turning to ChatGPT for life discussions and therapy, and I’ve even noticed friends and family opting for genuine conversations with the chatbot about major decisions.

Should you use ChatGPT to make life decisions?
Reading the headline to this article, you might be ready to dismiss the whole idea of using AI and ChatGPT as a genuine ‘life tool’. However, there are some real benefits to continuously talking to AI before making a decision. I find ChatGPT to be a good starting point for researching a topic when I’m thinking about smaller life decisions.
Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.
For example, thanks to its memory features, ChatGPT can remember all of my discussions related to my hobbies, and give me tips when I need them. For example, I use ChatGPT to help motivate me with my Peloton use, and sometimes I need advice on what program or class to take next.
ChatGPT knows what I’ve used in the past, and what types of Peloton classes I enjoy doing, and helps me to make a decision based on my preferences. This same functionality can be used across a broad range of topics.
I’m a 30-year-old man who barely uses TikTok, so I can’t even imagine how Gen Z interact with ChatGPT. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Altman is correct, and there are indeed many people out there who no longer make ******* life decisions without the input of AI, which to me sounds a little worrying.

Tour de France winner and five-time Olympic champion Sir Bradley Wiggins says he became a ******** addict in the years after his career.
The 45-year-old Briton told the Observer, external about the extent of the addiction he developed after his retirement from cycling in 2016, and explained how his family members feared for him.
“There were times my son thought I was going to be found dead in the morning,” said Wiggins.
“I was a functioning addict. People wouldn’t realise – I was high most of the time for many years.”
Wiggins won Olympic gold medals on the track at the Athens, Beijing and Rio de Janeiro Games, and also won the road time trial at London 2012, two weeks after becoming the first British rider to win the Tour de France.
Since his retirement, Wiggins has spoken about his father’s jealousy and being groomed by a coach as a child, while he was also declared bankrupt in June 2024.
Wiggins revealed how disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong, who has reportedly offered to pay for Wiggins’ therapy,, external has helped him during his recovery.
He said the American, who was stripped of seven Tour de France titles for using performance-enhancing drugs, had “worried about me for a long time” and that Armstrong speaks to Wiggins’ son Ben – also a professional cyclist – “a lot” about his father.
Speaking about his ******** addiction, which he quit a year ago, Wiggins added: “I realised I had a huge problem. I had to stop. I’m lucky to be here.
“I already had a lot of self-hatred, but I was amplifying it. It was a form of self-harm and self-sabotage. It was not the person I wanted to be. I realised I was hurting a lot of people around me.
“There’s no middle ground for me. I can’t just have a glass of wine – if I have a glass of wine, then I’m buying drugs. My proclivity to addiction was easing the pain that I lived with.”
Wiggins also spoke to Cycling Weekly, external about how the ‘Jiffy-bag’ scandal still affected him.
Two investigations – by the *** Anti-Doping Agency (Ukad) and the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) select committee – failed to prove what was in a medical package for Wiggins that was delivered to Team Sky’s then doctor at a race in 2011.
However, the report by MPs on the DCMS committee said Wiggins and Team Sky “crossed an ethical line” by using drugs allowed under anti-doping rules to enhance performance, instead of for medical reasons.
“I would love to know one way or another what actually happened,” Wiggins told Cycling Weekly.
“The amount of times I then got asked ‘what was in the package?’ But I had absolutely no idea.”

Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price hints at PM ambitions on Chris Kenny show
Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price hints at PM ambitions on Chris Kenny show
Firebrand senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has hinted she might one day go for the top job in federal politics, saying many Australians would “love” to see her in the role of prime minister.
Senator Price delivered the ambitious suggestion in an interview with Sky News host Chris Kenny on Tuesday after she withdrew her bid to be deputy Liberal Party leader.
Kenny pressed her on whether she might one day look to move into the lower house.
“The Senate is where the biggest battles are going to be fought,” she said.
“The Senate is where I am focused.”
When Mr Kenny said if she ever wanted to become prime minister, she would have to move to the lower house, Senator Price responded: “Well, there is that.”
“I know there are a lot of Australians who would love to see that, but right now, as I said, my focus is the Senate.”
Senator Price, an Indigenous senator from the Northern Territory, jumped ship from the Nationals following the May 3 election and is now a member of the Liberal Party room.

She had been planning to stand for the deputy leadership position on a joint ticket with former shadow treasurer Angus Taylor on Tuesday, but withdrew when Sussan Ley won the leadership in a 29-25 vote.
The contest was widely seen as a battle between the conservative and moderate wings of the party, with Senator Price and Mr Taylor representing a more conservative line of thinking.
In her interview with Mr Kenny, her first since the ballot, Senator Price said she expected “robust” debate in the party room moving forward.
She also said she would likely stick to supporting nuclear energy.
“I think there is going to be some robust debate around energy,” she said.
“I think there are those of us who are absolutely of the view we need to stick to nuclear, it’s the cleanest, greenest energy that we have. Obviously we are not put many years behind, but we need to be smart.”
She also said the Coalition’s commitment to net zero could be “on the table” for discussion.
“I think we need to have all those conversations on the table as part of the party room conversation,” she said.
Senator Price’s defection from the Nationals triggered anger and public rebuke from senators Matt Canavan and Bridget McKenzie, but she said she did not regret the move in light of her defeat in the party room on Tuesday.
“I absolutely feel like I am in my home,” she said.
Moving forward, she said she was focused on rebuilding the shattered party following its shellacking at the election, that saw the loss of dozens of seats, including that of leader Peter Dutton.
“I’m not focused on any particular way forward, other than to say that it is absolutely about rebuilding the party, fighting together against the enemy, which we know is Labor and the left, and also working with our National Party colleagues,” she said.

3 Altcoins Flash Bullish Signals After Crypto’s Best Week of 2025
3 Altcoins Flash Bullish Signals After Crypto’s Best Week of 2025
Ethereum leads the bull run, reaching $2,400 after a 50% rise over the past month.
XRP breaks key resistances, with the $2.5 level being the next target for upward momentum.
Solana gains from memecoin traffic, with potential for a strong bounce above $170 resistance.

The cryptocurrency market had its best week of the year last week. The total market value went up by almost 15%, continuing the recovery that began in the week of April 7. This growth was supported by positive news from around the world.
led the way among other altcoins, rising 45% in just one week — something it had not done in a long time. also stayed on an upward path, but the progress was slower and more careful. increased by 20% and reached an important level that could signal a change in trend.
1. Ethereum Leads the Bullish Wave
Ethereum has made a strong comeback, crossing the $2,400 mark for the first time since March. It has gone up by 50% in the last month, doing better than . This rise is not only due to market trends but is also supported by important news and developments.
As of May, the trading pair has bounced from a key support level that has been tested several times since 2019. This has led to growing hopes of an upcoming “altcoin season,” where smaller coins might perform better than Bitcoin. Ethereum has been falling compared to Bitcoin since late 2022. While there were small upward moves during that time, the overall trend stayed negative.
The recent bounce in May shows that Ethereum is trying to change that. For Ethereum to keep gaining strength against Bitcoin, it needs to rise above the 0.026 level — a key technical point known as the 0.382 Fibonacci level. If this happens, Ethereum could move toward the 0.035 to 0.04 range. For now, the 0.023 level is seen as a strong support area for the ETH/BTC pair.
Ethereum is also gaining attention from big investors because of its strong foundation. It supports real-world assets (RWA) and stablecoins well and follows rules that institutions care about. This makes Ethereum a “safe altcoin” in the eyes of institutional investors.
If the US Federal Reserve continues to lower interest rates and stops tightening its monetary policy, it could further support Ethereum’s growth. On top of that, the recent Pectra update has helped boost Ethereum’s price. This may lead to even more interest from large investors in the future and could push the price up even more.
Technical Outlook for Ethereum
Ethereum has taken the spotlight again with a 45% jump against the US dollar in the past week. It broke through the $1,830 resistance level — a key point watched closely throughout April. After that, Ethereum quickly passed the $2,000 mark and moved toward $2,500.
In the short term, Ethereum has turned the $2,430 level (a key Fibonacci level) into a support zone. If this support holds, the next price targets could be $2,730 and $3,000. If momentum continues, Ethereum might even aim for $3,500, which aligns with another important technical level.
On the downside, $2,430 is now the main support to watch. If Ethereum closes below this level on the daily chart, we could see some profit-taking that might pull the price back down toward $2,060.
Right now, short-term moving averages are still supporting the uptrend. If Ethereum climbs above $2,700 again, it may attract even more buying.
2. XRP Seeks a New Breakout
The most important development in the XRP market is the settlement of the years-long lawsuit between and the SEC. The SEC’s closing of the case with the collection of only a $50 million fine is interpreted as a serious victory for Ripple. While this development largely eliminates the regulatory risk of XRP in the US markets, it prepares the ground for institutional investors to reposition.
In light of these developments, large investor movements in XRP also attract attention. While moves such as the transfer of 29.5 million XRP to Coinbase (NASDAQ:) have created speculation about short-term selling pressure among investors, general on-chain data shows that the long-term attitude prevails. Still, the decline in the amount of XRP entering the exchanges is interpreted as a sign that the bullish potential may continue.
While the XRP market has seen mainly positive developments, the cautious rise in XRP price reflects investors’ uncertainty about how the post-SEC process will work.
Last month, XRP saw buying interest in the $1.60–1.80 range. This suggested that the recent price drop had likely reached a healthy bottom. After that, XRP began a more stable rally and eventually broke through the $2.3 resistance level, which aligns with a key technical point (Fib 0.382).
This week, all eyes are on the $2.5 resistance level (Fib 0.5). If XRP manages to stay above $2.5, it could move up to $2.7 and then to $3. This would suggest that XRP is entering a new uptrend.
On the downside, if XRP falls below $2.5, it may drop back to the $2.25–2.3 range. But if Ripple’s overall news continues to be positive, this pullback could be seen as a good buying opportunity for investors.
3. Can Solana Rekindle Its Memecoin Support?
Solana has emerged as the most talked-about blockchain network in the recent surge of the memecoin trend, driven by the Pump.fun platform. With Pump.fun’s new revenue-sharing model, token creators now receive 50% of transaction fees, which helps reduce the risk of “rug pulls” and encourages long-term commitment to projects. This move is expected to boost memecoin traffic and ensure the ecosystem’s sustainability.
Pump.fun has processed $22.3 billion in transactions so far, fueling significant growth in Solana’s on-chain activity. By late last year, 62% of all Solana transactions were conducted on the platform, contributing to SOL’s rise above $250 during that time.
As Solana shifts its focus from DeFi and NFTs to becoming the hub of the memecoin market, the latest bullish momentum appears to be supported by increased memecoin transactions.
SOL started testing the $180 level at the beginning of the week. The recent price action indicates that the $170–180 range was a key support level for SOL in the past. Now, this range could act as resistance. As long as SOL remains above $170, it has the potential to regain strength and rise quickly above $180.
If the price continues to climb, the first target for a potential bounce above $180 could be $220. Beyond that, the next targets would be in the $250–270 range. If SOL surpasses this area, it could open the door to new highs in the cryptocurrency market.

Kate Middleton Is Set to Have New Tiara Moment as King Charles Announces State Visit from President Macron
Kate Middleton Is Set to Have New Tiara Moment as King Charles Announces State Visit from President Macron
Kate Middleton is set to have another tiara moment at Windsor Castle.
On Tuesday, May 13, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles has invited French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte to a state visit during the summer.
That will likely mean Kate and Queen Camilla will be dusting off their tiaras for a dazzling state banquet at the 1000-year-old castle.
The visit takes place from July 8-10, and the French couple will be based at Windsor. It’s a departure from the usual arrangements because Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing crucial upgrading.
In a simple statement, the palace said on May 13, “The President of the French Republic, His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by Mrs Brigitte Macron, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Tuesday 8th July to Thursday 10th July 2025.
“The President and Mrs Macron will stay at Windsor Castle.”
Although Buckingham Palace has not confirmed any details of the visit, it’s expected that Prince William and Princess Kate will help host the visitors.

Usually, a state banquet is at the center of the entertaining and soft power diplomacy that is led by the royal family.
Princess Kate, 43, was missing from the last banquet — for the visiting Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani in December as she continued her recovery from her ******* treatment.
She did take part in some of the visit, in the earlier part of the first day, however.
The state visit by the Macrons follows the visit by the King, 76, and Queen, 77, who made their first official overseas visit since their May 2023 coronation to France, and then Germany, in September 2023.
The last State Visit to the U.K. from France was in March 2008 when the then President Sarkozy and his wife were the guests of the late Queen Elizabeth II, at Windsor Castle.

Halo 2 Boss Was Ready to Die on That Hill if One Scene Didn’t Make It to the Bungie Sequel
Halo 2 Boss Was Ready to Die on That Hill if One Scene Didn’t Make It to the Bungie Sequel
Gaming history is filled with tales of troubled development, but few are as legendary as Halo 2′s tumultuous journey to release.
While the 2004 Xbox classic is now revered as one of gaming’s most influential sequels, its creation was anything but smooth. Behind the scenes, passionate creative differences shaped what would eventually become the definitive Xbox multiplayer experience.
Among these creative battles was Bungie co-founder Jason Jones’ unwavering insistence on specific scenes making it into the final game—scenes that the writing team struggled to incorporate in a way that made narrative sense.
The scene that almost didn’t make it
The development of Halo 2 was famously chaotic, with Bungie’s ambition constantly outpacing what the original Xbox could handle. By 2003, the team had to scrap nearly two years of work and start fresh on many elements. Yet through this turmoil, certain creative visions remained non-negotiable for the studio’s leadership.
According to Vice‘s extensive oral history of the franchise, Bungie co-founder Jason Jones was particularly adamant about including a specific emotional moment for Master Chief:
There should be a scene in the game where the Master Chief is standing on an orbital above Earth. The Covenant’s attacking Earth, and Chief puts his hands on the glass and he looks down and says, ‘Only blood will pay for this.’ That’s got to be in the game somewhere.
This scene eventually materialized in modified form during the “Cairo Station” mission, though without the exact dialogue Jones had envisioned. The emotional weight remained, showing Chief witnessing Earth under attack, but the execution changed to better fit the game’s evolving narrative.
Even more bizarre was Jones’ insistence on a shocking betrayal that would have radically altered the game’s story. Staten recalls the pitched scene with a mix of bewilderment and amusement:
And the other thing that ‘needed’ to happen, in the sequel, was that Captain Keyes has a daughter, and she’s really mad at the Master Chief, so she puts a bomb on his back and throws him into a hole.
This concept was ultimately abandoned, though the core idea of stripping Master Chief of his tools evolved into the Gravemind sequence.
Development hell and the unfinished masterpiece
The “Dervish” that almost was. | Image Credit: 343 Industries
Despite its legendary status in the Halo franchise, Halo 2′s development was so troubled that Bungie was forced to cut an entire third act of the game. This missing finale would have brought Master Chief and the Arbiter together on Earth to defeat the Prophets, explaining the game’s infamous cliffhanger ending that left players hanging until Halo 3.
The team’s ambitions far exceeded what was possible within their timeline, as Jaime Griesemer explained:
I think if we just kept ourselves to the things we cut from Halo we would’ve been okay, but we didn’t. We tripled everything. For the first year of Halo 2’s development, we couldn’t play it.
Even the game’s iconic dual-protagonist structure faced challenges. The Arbiter wasn’t always the character we know today—for most of his development, he was called the Dervish. This changed late in development when Microsoft’s legal team raised concerns about potential religious implications following 9/11.
The final cut was particularly painful for the narrative team, who had to abandon their original vision for the game’s conclusion:
We ended up completely cutting Halo 2’s third act, which was brutal and horrible, and something nobody wanted to do.
— Joe Staten
Despite these cuts and compromises, Halo 2 emerged as a defining title for Xbox, and 343 Industries later inherited the franchise. The game’s troubled development paradoxically contributed to its legendary status—a flawed masterpiece whose rough edges reveal the human struggle behind its creation.

India’s headline inflation eased to 3.16% in April, the sixth consecutive month of decline.
The reading was lower than March’s data of 3.34%, and is lower than the 3.27% expected by economists polled by Reuters.
This was the sixth straight month that the inflation fell.
Food inflation, which is a key inflation metric in the country, dipped to 1.78% in April, from March’s figure of 2.69%.
Bank of America analysts had said in a May 5 note that food prices will remain “in check,” while core inflation will climb due to higher gold prices.
Prices of the yellow metal have spiked as trade tensions roiled global markets, hitting a record intraday high of $3,498.24 on April 22.

The inflation figure will likely clear the way for the Reserve Bank of India to continue to cut rates, after the RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said in his statement after the central bank’s April 9 meeting that it will shift its stance from neutral to accommodative, aiming to stimulate the economy through softer interest rates.
The RBI most recently cut its policy rate to 6% at the meeting, delivering a second straight rate cut.
India’s GDP numbers for its financial quarter ending March are expected to come in on May 30, and BofA forecasts that while GDP growth will recover to 6.7%, compared to the 6.2% seen in the quarter ending December.

However, full-year GDP is expected to undershoot the RBI’s estimate of 6.5%, they added. Earlier in the year, HSBC said that “reciprocal” tariffs will directly shave off 0.5 percentage point from India’s full-year growth for the financial year ending March 2026.
However, U.S. officials most recently have said that a trade deal with India was “close”, with U.S. President Donald Trump saying on April 29 that ‘I think we’ll have a deal with India’ on tariffs and trade.

Trump administration’s arrest of judge stirs debate over immigration courthouse arrests
Trump administration’s arrest of judge stirs debate over immigration courthouse arrests
By Andrew Goudsward
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The arrest of a Wisconsin state court judge for allegedly helping a migrant evade U.S. authorities marks another salvo in a long-brewing debate about the presence of immigration agents in local courthouses.
The judge, Hannah Dugan of Milwaukee County’s circuit court, is due in federal court on Thursday to face charges of obstruction and harboring an individual due to face arrest. Dugan’s legal team argues she will be exonerated.
Republican President Donald Trump’s administration has broadened the ability of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to carry out courthouse arrests as it ramps up deportations and cracks down on ******** immigration.
ICE courthouse operations have drawn fierce resistance from immigration advocates and some state courts, who have argued since Trump’s first term that they risk disrupting court operations and dissuading millions of people from accessing the legal system.
The case against Dugan sits at the center of two themes of Trump’s second term: boundary-pushing immigration enforcement and forceful pushback against judges the administration sees as standing in the way of its authority.
“All of this adds to a sense of the judiciary being under attack,” said Jeremy Fogel, a former judge in California who now runs the Berkeley Judicial Institute. “Whether or not it’s going to be successful, it’s seen as part of a broader attempt to weaken or delegitimize the judiciary.”
Dugan is accused of helping an immigrant in the U.S. illegally who was due to appear on assault-related charges evade immigration authorities on April 18 by escorting him into a non-public hallway, according to a criminal complaint and local police documents. The migrant, identified as Eduardo Flores Ruiz, was arrested outside after a foot chase.
As of May 6, ICE had conducted 189 courthouse arrests since Trump returned to office in January, more than doubling its pace from the prior full year under Democratic President Joe Biden’s administration, according to a Reuters analysis of ICE data.
CHANGING POLICIES
ICE early in Trump’s second term rescinded a Biden administration policy narrowing the circumstances under which it can make arrests at courthouses as part of a broader effort to open up more sensitive locations to immigration authorities.
The new policy prioritizes migrants with criminal records, alleged gang members and those who have returned to the U.S. after previously being removed, but also allows relatives of criminal defendants or witnesses to be targeted.
State courthouses are an attractive venue for immigration authorities, given people reliably appear for court dates and are typically screened by security.
“The ability of law enforcement to make arrests of criminal ******** aliens in courthouses is common sense,” said Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees immigration enforcement.
The practice has raised thorny issues over the divide between state and federal authority.
“When litigants stop feeling like they can access justice through the courts, and when the federal government starts taking time away from states administering justice to further their immigration enforcement agenda, it gets tricky under the law,” said Sarah Rogerson, a professor at Albany Law School.
Some Democratic-run states, including New York, have passed laws to restrict ICE’s ability to carry out immigration enforcement in or near courthouses.
A Massachusetts judge was charged during Trump’s first term with impeding a federal immigration arrest of a defendant in her courtroom. That criminal case was dropped under the Biden administration, but state disciplinary authorities have since accused her of misconduct.
The Trump administration has escalated its rhetoric against federal judges, which have issued dozens of rulings constraining Trump’s aggressive use of presidential power on immigration, slashing the federal government and exacting retribution on perceived adversaries.
Trump-nominated FBI Director Kash Patel posted on social media a photo of a handcuffed Dugan being led toward a police vehicle with the caption, “No one is above the law.”
FBI guidelines generally bar the agency from releasing photos of criminal defendants without a clear law enforcement purpose.
Pressed on the photo during a Senate hearing last week, Patel said the purpose was “to show America that we investigate any individual who commits a crime, especially those in positions of public trust.”

Ancient Ice Age Culture Discovered on Remote Isle in Scotland
Ancient Ice Age Culture Discovered on Remote Isle in Scotland
A test pit at the excavation on the Isle of Skye reveals sediment layers where Ice Age-era stone tools were discovered. Credit: Karen Hardy et al. / CC BY 4.0
Archaeologists have uncovered the most northerly traces of a Late Upper Paleolithic culture in Scotland, shedding new light on life during the final stages of the last Ice Age.
Researchers from the University of Glasgow made the discovery on the Isle of Skye, one of Scotland’s most rugged and remote locations. The findings, published in the Journal of Quaternary Science, center on two sites: South Cuidrach in the north and Sconser in central Skye.
Together, they challenge long-standing beliefs that western Scotland was too cold and harsh for human settlement during this *******.
Tools link Skye to ancient European reindeer hunters
At South Cuidrach, researchers excavated a 30-square-meter area and recovered 196 stone artifacts. These included tanged points, blades, scrapers, and chisels—tools often associated with hunting. Many were made from locally sourced baked mudstone, indicating reliable access to raw materials.
Drone photograph of South Cuidrach. Credit: Karen Hardy et al. / CC BY 4.0
Some of the tools, particularly the tanged points, exhibit features typical of the Ahrensburgian culture—a group of Ice Age reindeer hunters who lived across northern Europe near the end of the Ice Age.
Other artifacts, while not unique to that culture, match tool styles found in Late Upper Paleolithic sites across the region.
Excavation techniques combine traditional digging with modern mapping
Researchers used systematic test pits to record artifact placement and layers to enhance understanding of the site’s layout and context
Drone surveys provided elevation data and created detailed visual maps of the site. While radiocarbon dating was successful for nearby Mesolithic deposits, the Ice Age-era tools could not be directly dated.
Stone circles appear at low tide in Sconser’s coastal zone
Researchers at the second site in Sconser documented approximately 20 circular stone alignments in the intertidal zone. Each formation, measuring three and five meters in diameter, and constructed with boulders set in marine sediment. The circles are visible only during extremely low tides.
Elevation data shows that the structures lie between 1.83 and 4.14 meters below the current sea level, suggesting they were built when the sea was significantly lower.
Though no tools or organic remains were found nearby, comparisons with similar features in Norway suggest these may date to the Early Holocene.
The purpose of the stone circles remains unknown
The function of the tidal stone circles is still a mystery. However, researchers propose they may have been used for trapping fish or managing tidal hunts—practices in prehistoric Scandinavia and later Scottish history.
If linked to an early coastal settlement, more sites may remain hidden beneath Skye’s now-submerged shoreline.
Discovery reshapes views on human survival during the Younger Dryas
For decades, archaeologists believed the harsh climate of the Younger Dryas – an abrupt cold ******* between 12,900 and 11,700 years ago – made western Scotland uninhabitable. Limited to scattered tools along the mainland’s west coast, previous evidence was viewed as signs of temporary visits.
The discoveries on Skye now suggest a different story. They point to a group of people who survived and adapted to extreme conditions, likely migrating from mainland Europe.
These early settlers may have crossed now-submerged land bridges such as Doggerland and found a home at what was once considered the edge of the Ice Age world.

NRL star’s brother allegedly involved in bloody home invasion
NRL star’s brother allegedly involved in bloody home invasion
The brother of an NRL star has been freed on bail after a court heard it was alleged he was involved in a violent home invasion in which the victim was struck in the head, told to hand over money before being left zip-tied in a pool of blood with life-threatening injuries.
Troy Anthony Xerri, 33, the brother of Canterbury Bulldogs centre Bronson Xerri, appeared in the Supreme Court in Sydney on Tuesday in an effort to be freed on bail following his arrest in July last year.
Police allege he was one of four men who were involved in an attempted robbery of a man at Wattle Crescent, Pyrmont in May last year, which left the victim fighting for his life.
Bronson Xerri is not accused of any wrongdoing.
Troy Xerri’s barrister Gabrielle Bashir asked that he be released on bail because several family members were in ill health and he was needed at home to help out his wife.

Ms Bashir also attacked the prosecution case, which the court heard included CCTV, arguing he was not identifiable on the footage.
According to the Crown case, it’s alleged Mr Xerri and his three co-accused went to the victim’s building on May 21 last year where two of the men went to his apartment to say they needed to inspect a bathroom because a toilet was leaking upstairs.
Later that day, it is alleged, they asked the man to tell his babysitter to go for a walk so they could “spray chemicals”, the court was told on Tuesday.
The man told police that when he was facing away, he was struck by one of the men on the back of the head and demands were made for money as he was kicked.
The man blacked out and was discovered by a building security guard after the babysitter could not get back into the building.
“The complainant was found on the floor bleeding with his hands in cable ties, the apartment had been ransacked,” Justice Stephen Rothman told the court on Tuesday.
When police searched the apartment, they found gloves, zip ties, drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine and over $184,000 in a toolbox.
“The complainant was taken to hospital and treated for life-threatening skull fractures and brain haemorrhages with an acute risk of raised intracranial pressure,” Justice Rothman said.
The man also underwent surgery for facial injuries and forearm lacerations, the court was told.
In July 2024, Mr Xerri went to a police station where he was arrested and charged.

He has been charged with breaking and entering a dwelling inflicting grievous bodily harm, assault, take and detain in company with intent to get advantage and causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent.
No pleas have been entered and the court heard on Tuesday it was estimated that if the matter does go to trial, it will not be until the second half of next year.
“In essence these are very serious offences which involve assault causing damage and kidnapping,” Justice Rothman told the court on Tuesday.
Justice Rothman agreed to release Mr Xerri on bail on conditions including that he live with his wife, abide by home detention, wear an electronic ankle monitoring bracelet and come up with a $500,000 surety.
He is also required to report to police daily, surrender his passport and not go within 500m of a point of international departure.
Mr Xerri will return to court next month.
