  4. Rockstar is Not Just Working on GTA 4 Remaster (Rumor) Rockstar is Not Just Working on GTA 4 Remaster (Rumor) GTA 6 has been the main point of attention for anything Rockstar Games in the last few years. But did you know that the company could be preparing a double hit of nostalgia with a Max Payne 3 Remaster? At least that’s what these new rumors say. Rumors suggest that we could get a GTA 4 remaster too. This is on top of the fact that Remedy Entertainment is currently working on remakes for the first two Max Payne games. So if this rumor is true, Rockstar is planning on completing the trilogy. Fans like to complain about remasters, but you know what? We think it’s perfect for gaps like this because we’re all waiting for GTA 6. Rockstar might be cooking a Max Payne 3 and GTA 4 remasters According to multiple posts from Tez2 on the GTA Forums over the past week, Rockstar’s plan to revisit older titles dates back to what he calls the “pandemic days.” This internal roadmap reportedly included remasters or ports of both GTA 4 and Max Payne 3. And it makes more sense for them to release now since we’ve just gotten the announcement for the GTA 6 delay. RUMOR: Rockstar is claimed to be remastering both Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV Max Payne 3 remaster is also claimed to launch around Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes by Remedy. Which one do want more? Source: Tez2 pic.twitter.com/xAhe8h3hs3 — Rino (@RinoTheBouncer) May 12, 2025 The Max Payne 3 remaster is expected to arrive not long after the GTA 4 remaster, which may launch as early as late 2025. Remedy Entertainment is already working on full remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2, so adding the third title would let us experience the entire trilogy together in a modern setting. Originally released in 2012, Max Payne 3 made some pretty big changes from the first two. These were mostly because the development went from Remedy to Rockstar. Despite criticism over its story and tonal shift, the game pushed Xbox 360 and PS3 hardware to their limits and had good qualities, like the surprisingly fun multiplayer. Comment byu/Undefeated-Smiles from discussion inmaxpayne Tez2 also noted that the development of both remasters was less prioritized following the disastrous reception of The Definitive Edition in 2021. But the inevitable delay of GTA 6 may have shifted Rockstar’s focus back to them. Since Red Dead Redemption received a faithful port by Double Eleven in 2023, we can hope that GTA 4 and Max Payne 3 get the same treatment. It’s the right time to jump on the remake and remaster bandwagon With the GTA 6 delay, it’s the perfect time. | Image Credit: Rockstar Games Tez2 first mentioned Rockstar’s internal plans for a new port back in 2022, although at the time it appeared the company had shelved the project after the poor reception to the Trilogy remasters. But the situation right now feels very similar to what we saw from Rockstar before previous re-releases, suggesting development may now be well underway. We still don’t know how Rockstar will allocate resources for these remasters while its studios focus on finishing GTA 6, which is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious open-world games ever made. Still, like we said, big studios can always ask for help from smaller ones, it doesn’t even sacrifice quality. Look at what Virtuos did for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. As of now, Rockstar has not confirmed any plans related to Max Payne 3 or GTA 4 remasters. As usual, we are relying on rumors and insider information because of the company’s tight-lipped approach. We can expect to see details of Remedy’s Max Payne remakes at the Summer Game Fest in June. Source link #Rockstar #Working #GTA #Remaster #Rumor Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  6. Australia’s sole Q Fever vaccine provider confirms it is prepared to combat the country’s rising case numbers Australia’s sole Q Fever vaccine provider confirms it is prepared to combat the country’s rising case numbers Australia’s sole Q Fever vaccine provider says the serious bacterial infection vaccine is no longer in short supply, quelling fears the farming industry would not be able to combat rising case numbers across the country. Concerns arose after Cattle Australia called for an urgent $3 million cash injection to bring a new Q Fever vaccine to market on April 29. CSL Seqirus — manufacturer of the Q-VAX vaccine in Melbourne — confirmed with the Countryman current supply levels would meet current demand. The zoonotic disease is transmitted predominantly from goats, sheep and cattle and is caused by the bacterium Coxiella burnetii. It is released through *******, ******, milk and birth products from infected animals but can spread through the air and dust. Most people in Australia are unaware of the disease and its potential consequences, including flu-like symptoms, pneumonia and hepatitis. Victoria experienced five notified outbreaks between August and December last year, with a total of 77 notified cases — more than double the State’s average annual incident of the past five years. This year alone, six cases have been reported to WA Health, while 16 cases were reported in 2024 — spiking in the back end of the year. The yearly average is eight in Western Australia. A CSL Seqirus spokesperson said “normal supply” for the Q-VAX vaccine resumed in February, following a ******* of limited supply where stock was managed centrally to ensure access for people at the highest risk of infection. “Approximately 30 to 40,000 Australians are vaccinated against Q fever annually and this is typically driven by workplace vaccinations, public health campaigns and outbreaks of disease,” they said. “We have been working closely with local Public Health Units in regions with outbreaks to ensure access to vaccination. “There is always the potential for small increases in demand due to outbreaks and our annual supply planning takes this into account.” They said a new “world-class” manufacturing facility near Melbourne Airport is due for completion in 2026 which will manufacture vaccines and antivenoms for Australia and the world. There are more than 80 clinics offering Q fever vaccinations across the State. 7. What did India and Pakistan gain – and lose – in their military standoff? What did India and Pakistan gain – and lose – in their military standoff? Islamabad, Pakistan – Four days after a May 10 ceasefire pulled India and Pakistan back from the brink of a full-fledged war following days of rapidly escalating military tensions, a battle of narratives has broken out, with each country claiming “victory” over the other. The conflict erupted after gunmen killed 26 civilians in Pahalgam, in Indian-administered Kashmir, on April 22. A little-known armed group, The Resistance Front (TRF), initially claimed responsibility, with India accusing Pakistan of backing it. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised retaliation, even though Pakistan denied any role in the attack. After a series of ****-for-tat diplomatic measures between the neighbours, tensions exploded militarily. Early on the morning of May 7, India fired missiles at what it described as “terrorist” bases not just in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, but also four sites in Pakistan’s Punjab province. In the following days, both sides launched killer drone strikes at each other’s territory and blamed one another for initiating the attacks. Tensions peaked on Saturday when India and Pakistan fired missiles at each other’s military bases. India initially targeted three Pakistani airbases, including one in Rawalpindi, the garrison city which is home to the headquarters of the Pakistan Army, before then launching projectiles at other Pakistani bases. Pakistan’s missiles targeted military installations across the country’s frontier with India and Indian-administered Kashmir, striking at least four facilities. Then, as the world braced for total war between the nuclear-armed neighbours, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire, which he claimed had been mediated by the United States. Pakistan express gratitude to the US, even as India insisted the decision to halt fighting was made solely by the two neighbours without any third-party intervention. Since the announcement, both countries have held news conferences, presenting “evidence” of their “achievements”. On Monday, senior military officials in India and Pakistan spoke by phone, pledging to uphold the ceasefire in the coming days. However, analysts say neither side can truly claim to have emerged from the post-April 22 crisis with a definite upper hand. Instead, they say, both India and Pakistan can claim strategic gains even as they each also suffered losses. The debris of a drone lying on the ground after it was shot down by the Indian air defence system, on the outskirts of Amritsar, on May 10, 2025 [Narinder Nanu/AFP] Internationalising Kashmir: Pakistan’s gain, India’s loss The military standoff last week – like three of the four wars between India and Pakistan – had roots in the two countries’ dispute over the Kashmir region. Pakistan and India administer different parts of Kashmir, along with China, which governs two narrow strips. India claims all of Kashmir, while Pakistan claims the part India – but not Islamabad’s ally China – administers. After the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, which led to the creation of Bangladesh, New Delhi and Islamabad inked the Simla Agreement, which, among other things, committed them to settling “their differences by peaceful means through bilateral negotiations”. Since then, India has argued that the Kashmir dispute – and other tensions between the neighbours – can only be settled bilaterally, without third-party intervention. Pakistan, however, has cited United Nations resolutions to call for the global community to play a role in pushing for a solution. On Sunday, Trump said that the US was ready to help mediate a resolution to the Kashmir dispute. “I will work with you both to see if, after a thousand years, a solution can be arrived at, concerning Kashmir,” the US president posted on his Truth Social platform. Walter Ladwig, a senior lecturer at King’s College London, said the latest conflict gave Pakistan a chance to internationalise the Kashmir issue, which had been its longstanding strategic goal. “Islamabad welcomed mediation from a range of countries, including the US, framing the resulting ceasefire as evidence of the need for external involvement,” Ladwig told Al Jazeera. By contrast, he said, India had to accept a ceasefire brokered externally, rather than ending the conflict on its own terms. Sudha Ramachandran, the South Asia editor for The Diplomat magazine, said that Modi’s government in India may have strengthened its nationalist support base through its military operation, though it may have also lost some domestic political points with the ceasefire. “It was able to score points among its nationalist hawkish support base. But the ceasefire has not gone down well among hardliners,” Ramachandran said. Highlighting ‘terrorism’: India’s gain, Pakistan’s loss However, analysts also say the spiral in tensions last week, and its trigger in the form of the Pahalgam attack, helped India too. “Diplomatically, India succeeded in refocusing international attention on Pakistan-based militant groups, renewing calls for Islamabad to take meaningful action,” Ladwig said. He referred to “the reputational cost [for Pakistan] of once again being associated with militant groups operating from its soil”. “While Islamabad denied involvement and called for neutral investigations, the burden of proof in international forums increasingly rests on Pakistan to demonstrate proactive counterterrorism efforts,” Ladwig added. India has long accused Pakistan of financing, training and sheltering armed groups that support the secession of Kashmir from India. Pakistan insists it only provides diplomatic and moral support to Kashmir’s separatist movement. Planes down may be Pakistan’s gain India claimed that its strikes on May 7 killed more than 100 “terrorists”. Pakistan said the Indian missiles had hit mosques and residential areas, killing only civilians – in total, including children. Islamabad also claimed that it scrambled its fighter planes to respond and had brought down multiple Indian jets. India has neither confirmed nor denied those claims, but Pakistan’s military has publicly shared details that it says identify the planes that were shot down. French and US officials have confirmed that at least one Rafale and one Russian-made jet were lost by India. Indian officials have also confirmed to Al Jazeera that at least two planes crashed in Indian-administered territory, but did not clarify which country they belonged to. With both India and Pakistan agreeing that neither side’s jets had crossed their frontier, the presence of debris from a crashed plane in Indian-administered territory suggests they were likely Indian, say analysts. The ceasefire coming after that suggests a gain for Pakistan, Asfandyar Mir, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center in Washington, DC, told Al Jazeera. “Especially, the downing of the aircraft confirmed by various independent sources. So, it [Pakistan] may see the ceasefire as being better for consolidating that dividend.” Muhammad Shoaib, an academic and security analyst at Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad, called India’s strikes against Pakistan a strategic miscalculation. “Their reading of Pakistan’s ability to hit back was flawed,” he said. Ludwig, however, said it would be a mistake to overstate the significance of any Pakistani successes, such as the possible downing of Indian jets. “These are, at best, symbolic victories. They do not represent a clear or unambiguous military gain,” he said. Residents walk through the main bazaar, a day after the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was announced, in Chakothi city in Pakistan-administered Kashmir on May 10, 2025 [Roshan Mughal/AP Photo] Further reach across border may be India’s gain In many ways, analysts say that the more meaty military accomplishment was India’s. In addition to Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Indian missiles on May 7 also targeted four sites in Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous state and the country’s economic nerve-centre. Over the next two days, India also fired drones that reached deep inside Pakistani territory, including major Pakistani population centres such as Lahore and Karachi. And on May 10, Indian missiles hit three Pakistani airbases that were deeper in Pakistan’s Punjab than the Indian bases Pakistan hit that day were in Indian territory. Simply put, India demonstrated greater reach than Pakistan did. It was the first time since the 1971 war between them that India had managed to hit Punjab. Launching a military response not just across the Line of Control, the two countries’ de-facto border in Kashmir, but deep into Pakistan had been India’s primary goal, said Ramchandran. And India achieved it. Ludwig, too, said that India’s success in targeting Punjab represented a serious breach of Pakistan’s defensive posture. Will the ceasefire hold? Military officials from both countries who spoke on Monday and agreed to hold the ceasefire also agreed to take immediate steps to reduce their troops’ presence along the borders. A second round of talks is expected within 48 hours. An Indian man watches the live telecast of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on television screens, in Prayagraj, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, India, Monday, May 12, 2025 [Rajesh Kumar Singh/AP Photo] However, later that day, Indian Prime Minister Modi said that the fighting had merely “paused”. Still, the Stimson Center’s Mir believes the ceasefire could hold. “Both sides face constraints and opportunities that have emerged during the course of the last week, which, on balance, make a ceasefire a better outcome for them,” he said. Ladwig echoed that view, saying the truce reflects mutual interest in de-escalation, even if it does not resolve the tensions that led to the crisis. “India has significantly changed the rules of the game in this episode. The Indian government seems to have completely dispensed with the game that allows Islamabad and Rawalpindi to claim plausible deniability regarding anti-Indian terrorist groups,” he said. “What the Pakistani government and military do with groups on its soil would seem to be the key factor in determining how robust the ceasefire will be.” Quaid-i-Azam University’s Shoaib, who is also a research fellow at George Mason University in the US, emphasised the importance of continued dialogue. He warned that maintaining peace will depend on security dynamics in both Indian-administered Kashmir and Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Just as India accuses Pakistan of supporting cross-border separatism, Islamabad alleges that New Delhi backs a separatist insurgency in Balochistan, a claim India denies. “Any subsequent bout of violence has the potential to get bloodier and more widespread,” Shoaib said. “Both sides, going for a war of attrition, could inflict significant damage on urban populations, without gaining anything from the conflict.” Source link #India #Pakistan #gain #lose #military #standoff Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  9. Trump Administration Live Updates: President to Attend Summit With Arab Leaders Trump Administration Live Updates: President to Attend Summit With Arab Leaders As he called to order a marathon committee session to consider Medicaid cuts and other critical pieces of Republicans’ sweeping domestic policy bill, Representative Brett Guthrie of Kentucky surveyed a packed hearing room on Tuesday afternoon and asked for a respectful debate. “I know we have deep feelings on these issues, and we may not all agree on everything,” said Mr. Guthrie, a Republican who is in his first term as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. It was not to be. Minutes later, a group of protesters in the back of the Capitol Hill hearing room began shouting at lawmakers to “keep your greedy hands off our Medicaid.” They drowned out the chairman’s calls for order, and Capitol Police officers ultimately removed five people — three in wheelchairs — as the dozens of lawmakers on the panel looked on. (The Capitol Police later said that officers had arrested 26 people for illegally protesting inside a congressional building.) The disruptions were a raucous kickoff to a meeting that went all evening and was expected to continue well into Wednesday — one committee member estimated it could take as long as 28 hours — as Republicans and Democrats sparred over the plan, a key part of major legislation to enact President Trump’s domestic agenda. It unfolded as the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee met to consider a $2.5 trillion tax proposal that would extend Mr. Trump’s 2017 tax cuts; temporarily fulfill his campaign pledges not to tax tips or overtime pay; roll back subsidies for clean energy; and create a new type of tax-advantaged investment account for children. Democrats on the Ways and Means Committee tried unsuccessfully to extend tax credits that have helped people buy insurance on the Obamacare marketplaces. The subsidies are scheduled to expire at the end of the year, and the Congressional Budget Office estimates that more than four million people will lose coverage as a result. Representative Steven Horsford, Democrat of Nevada, proposed an amendment that would have made the extra funding permanent. He argued that, because Republicans were using an unconventional form of accounting in their effort to make other tax cuts permanent, they should use the same approach to keep insurance premiums affordable. “You cannot in one breath say it’s OK to provide tax cuts for billionaires and that can be free, and not provide tax relief for working families for health care, for God’s sake,” he said. A third panel, the House Agriculture Committee, also met Tuesday night and began considering a piece of the bill that would slash nutrition assistance to help raise money for the plan. But the bulk of the drama on Tuesday was at the Energy and Commerce Committee. During the first hour alone, Republicans giving opening statements were interrupted repeatedly by protesters who accused them of taking health care away from vulnerable people. G.O.P. lawmakers, in turn, accused Democrats of misrepresenting the Medicaid cuts they are proposing to score political points. Protesters opposing budget cuts on health care attending a hearing at the Capitol on Tuesday.Credit…Haiyun Jiang for The New York Times Mr. Guthrie labored to keep control over the proceedings, at one point presiding over a shouting match over whether members of his panel were allowed to use the word “lying” in their remarks. (Republicans had been permitted to say that Democrats were lying about the scope of the Medicaid cuts, but Democrats were barred from saying that Mr. Trump was lying about his desire to protect the program. An informal agreement to simply avoid using the word “lie” altogether for the remainder of the session fell apart a few hours later.) Even some Democratic senators came to take in the spectacle. Senators Cory Booker of New Jersey, Brian Schatz of Hawaii and Tina Smith of Minnesota were on hand. That was all before lawmakers had debated a single provision of the measure. Eight hours into the hearing, the committee had yet to debate the Medicaid cuts, focusing instead on other changes in environmental and energy policy. The bill’s proposed reductions in Medicaid coverage and its expansion under the Affordable Care Act have become a flashpoint for Democrats and an area of concern for vulnerable Republicans who are wary of the political consequences of supporting cuts to insurance programs that have become popular with Americans. Though House Republicans shied away from a huge structural overhaul of Medicaid, their proposal would reduce federal spending by an estimated $912 billion and cause 8.6 million people to become uninsured, according to a partial analysis from the Congressional Budget Office that was circulated by Democrats on the committee. Around $700 billion in cuts would come from changes to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. Republicans argued that their proposed cuts would help control rising Medicaid costs by targeting “waste, fraud and abuse” and ensuring the program’s long-term health. “Medicaid was created to protect health care for Americans who otherwise could not support themselves, but Democrats expanded the program far beyond this core mission,” Mr. Guthrie said. Their proposal calls for stricter paperwork requirements across the program, makes changes that affect federal funding to states and adds a work requirement to Medicaid that requires poor, childless adults to prove they are working 80 hours every month to stay enrolled. That provision, which targets an expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, would not kick in until January 2029, after the next presidential election. Democrats on the Energy and Commerce Committee held up matching posters with photographs of constituents they deemed the “faces of Medicaid.”Credit…Eric Lee/The New York Times During their opening remarks, Democrats on the committee held up matching posters with photographs of constituents they deemed the “faces of Medicaid.” The lawmakers told their stories as a way of humanizing people who rely on the program. Representative Debbie Dingell of Michigan directly addressed a family who had traveled to Washington in the hearing, who she said needed Medicaid to care for a child with Down syndrome. Representative Marc Veasey of Texas held his phone up to the microphone, inviting a constituent to speak about how Medicaid affected her. Mr. Guthrie ruled that out of order. Some of the people being highlighted were not at risk of losing coverage under the Republican proposal. And Democrats frequently claimed that the Republican plan would cause 13.7 million Americans to become uninsured, inflating the bill’s effects on coverage by about five million people. Pointing to these discrepancies, Republican lawmakers accused Democrats of dishonest politicking. “Not a single person on these posters is going to be affected,” Representative Kat Cammack of Florida said. “It’s unfortunate that people are so enraged by misinformation,” Representative Gary Palmer, Republican of Alabama, said, referring to a woman who was taken from the room by the police after she shouted that she was H.I.V. positive and that the Medicaid cuts “will kill me.” As the hearing started, the hallway outside was packed with protesters, many of them wearing shirts or bearing signs that read “Hands Off Medicaid.” Others wore shirts reading “Fight for Planned Parenthood.” The organization is targeted by a provision in the bill that would block Medicaid from funding health providers that also offer abortion services. “Hopefully, everyone understands that these demonstrations — people feel very strongly,” Representative Frank Pallone Jr., the top Democrat on the committee, said. “Because they know they’re losing their health care.” Catie Edmondson contributed reporting. 12. York grain farmer Alex Davies has solid start to the year after unseasonably early seeding York grain farmer Alex Davies has solid start to the year after unseasonably early seeding York farmer Alex Davies says he is optimistic about the year ahead but, like most grain farmers this early in the season, is feeling the “pre-game jitters”. Mr Davies was among many farmers in the Central Wheatbelt who started seeding unseasonably early this year, rolling his airseeder out of the shed on April 1 — three weeks ahead of previous years. He made the decision ahead of predicted light rainfall in mid-April — which ended up totalling 17.5mm — and following the 19.1mm of rainfall that fell on his property in mid-March. With two new crop varieties and a solid start to the year, the third-generation farmer said he did his best to set up the farm for positive results to come out of the 2025 season. “With what was forecast and what we had in front of us, we thought we’d get into it early instead of worrying about the back-end of the season,” Mr Davies said. “We had to play the cards we had in our hand at the time. “It definitely was a good move. At the moment, I’m glad we did it — all of our canola is out of the ground and our oats are just starting to come through.” This year, the Davies’ have put in 1000ha each of wheat, barley and oats on their 4000ha property, leaving the inarable land for roughly 2000 sheep. Mr Davies said paddock germination was so far looking “pretty good”, considering the minimal rainfall they had recorded so far. “It (the rainfall) is not bad but it’s not been the best season start we’ve had,” he said. Mr Davies said was seeding barley and wheat this week, but was concerned with the lack of moisture forecasted in the coming weeks. “It’s not the end of the world, I can’t change it. It’s too early in the season to worry about it yet,” he said. The latest climate outlook from the Bureau of Meterology is forecasting the month of May to be dry across the entire country, with rainfall anticipated to be below average. Mr Davies — who runs the farm alongside his father, Kevin Davies — stepped onto the farm in a greater capacity in recent years, transitioning to a full-time role while his uncle slowly transitioned out. The ex-research agronomist said his work history and degree in agri-business played a role in developing his farming knowledge, but nothing beat learning directly from the source. “It’s certainly helped but getting back on the farm and being able to work with dad and learn what I can off him has probably been the best,” he said. Aside from current political pressures, the 2025 season has been much the same as last for the York farmers in terms of weather and their seeding program, Mr Davies said. “We’ve got some new varieties in that are a bit of a change — Vortex wheat and Goldie oats,” he said. “They’re two new varieties that we bulked up last year in a small area and we’re pretty happy with how they performed so I’m pretty excited to see how they’ll do this season over a ******* area. “Our focus has also shifted to oats and canola this year as they were forecasted to be our best earners. “We’re very lucky, we’ve probably had the best summer we’ve had for paddock clean-up and maintenance on machinery — credit to the guys working here for what we’ve been able to pull off.” Mr Davies said York farmers were feeling “content” and “pretty-optimistic” about the season ahead but no one was getting too excited just yet. “Seeding is like the start of a game — everyone runs out on the field with the jitters, trying to find their feet, trying to work out their opponents and what they’re going to do. . . that’s the excitement everyone’s got,” he said. “Once we start to get halfway through the season, or towards the end of the game, you get a better feel if you’re winning or losing.” Source link #York #grain #farmer #Alex #Davies #solid #start #year #unseasonably #early #seeding Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  13. The Surprising Anti-Inflammatory Food You Should Be Eating More Of But Probably Aren’t, According to Dietitians The Surprising Anti-Inflammatory Food You Should Be Eating More Of But Probably Aren’t, According to Dietitians Reviewed by Dietitian Kelli McGrane, M.S., RD Photographer Victor Protasio, Food Stylist Chelsea Zimmer, Prop Stylist Christina Daley When you think of anti-inflammatory foods, fatty fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel might not be the first to come to mind—but registered dietitians agree that they should be. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fatty fish may help reduce chronic inflammation and lower the risk of chronic diseases, like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and *******. “Including more fatty fish in your diet may support overall health and reduce your risk of these inflammation-related conditions,” says Lauren Manaker, M.S., RDN. Read on to learn why fatty fish like salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring and anchovies are anti-inflammatory foods that you should be eating more of, plus tips for incorporating fish into your diet. How Can Fatty Fish Help With Inflammation? Fatty fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines and anchovies are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. More specifically, they’re rich in the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which have anti-inflammatory effects. “These essential fatty acids play a critical role in reducing inflammation in the body,” Manaker says. “They work by decreasing the production of inflammatory molecules and compounds, which can help manage chronic inflammation linked to conditions like heart disease.” One study found that consuming two to three portions of fish per week reduced the risk of cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular disease outcomes by 8% and 10%, respectively. It also found that daily fish intake reduced the risk of heart disease by up to 30%. You can think of these anti-inflammatory properties as a protective barrier that helps defend the body against cellular damage.“Consuming more fatty fish[may also] help ensure our organs are protected from external and internal threats, such as pollutants,” says Tracy Lockwood Beckerman, M.S., RD. These essential fatty acids are also important for supporting heart, brain and skin health, adds Maddie Pasquariello, M.S., RD. Because the body can’t produce them on its own, it’s essential to consume omega-3s through food. There’s no official recommendation for how much EPA and DHA to consume daily. However, the American Heart Association recommends eating 3 ounces of fish—preferably oily fish—at least twice a week. Other Reasons to Eat Fatty Fish Beyond their anti-inflammatory benefits, fatty fish are also a great source of protein, which helps with muscle repair, growth and immune functioning. They also contain a variety of micronutrients that are essential for overall health. “Fatty fish are a source of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, a nutrient crucial for bone health and immune support, and selenium, an antioxidant that protects cells from damage,” says Manaker. Tips For Eating More Fatty Fish Add Sardines or Anchovies to Salads, Snacks and Appetizers: “I love using anchovies in Caesar dressing or on top of salads, and sardines are delicious on toast as an appetizer or snack,” Pasquariello says. Start With a Milder Fish: “Salmon and tuna are some of the easiest fish to cook, requiring just a quick sear or bake in the oven, ” Pasquariello says. “I love pairing salmon with a Dijon mustard glaze or simple lemon and olive oil dressing, or cooking tuna with a quick sear on each side and topping it with sesame seeds and soy sauce.” Trout is another mild fish that’s quick to prepare. Enjoy in Smaller Amounts: If you don’t love the taste of fish but still want to give it a try, consider a dish where fish plays more of a supporting role rather than the central focus. “You can add fish to dishes like pasta along with other ingredients to ‘dilute’ the taste while still reaping the benefits,” Manaker says. Eat More Canned Fish: Canned fish, like salmon or sardines, offer a convenient and cost-effective way to add more fish to your diet. Stock Your Freezer With Frozen Fish: Keep frozen fish on hand for nights when you’re too busy to make it to the grocery store. “Frozen options provide the same beneficial antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties as fresh fish and might even have a less pronounced fishy smell during cooking,” Beckerman says. Plus, you can cook salmon directly from frozen—no thawing required. The Bottom Line Fatty fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and are an excellent addition to an anti-inflammatory diet. If you’re not eating fatty fish like tuna, mackerel, sardines or and salmon regularly, now is a great time to start. And remember, eating fish doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Try adding fresh or canned fish to scrambled eggs, salads, toast, stir-fries or pasta dishes. “Start by incorporating it into meals you already enjoy—think salmon on a salad, mackerel spread on whole-grain crackers or tuna in a wrap,” Manaker says. “Aim for about two servings of lower-mercury fatty fish per week.” Read the original article on EATINGWELL Source link #Surprising #AntiInflammatory #Food #Eating #Arent #Dietitians Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  17. Whatever Happened To The Boeing 777X? Whatever Happened To The Boeing 777X? Being the biggest commercial twinjet in the world, rocking the biggest commercial engines in the world, it was supposed to rule the air. The Boeing 777X (pronounced “triple-seven ex”) is the next major aircraft design from America’s premier planemaker, an updated variant of the venerable, but aging, 777. Given the company’s troubles in the last few years, it really needed to be a winner. And yet, it hasn’t been. First scheduled to go to airlines in 2020, here we are in 2025 and not a single one has been delivered yet. In fact, as of January, the latest estimate from Boeing doesn’t have the plane going to customers until 2026. What happened? From the looks of it, Boeing’s reach may have exceeded its grasp. The plane has been plagued with all sorts of component failures, which have delayed its FAA certification time and again. Worse, the numerous issues with the 737 MAX, including two deadly crashes and a mid-flight blown-out panel, have eroded regulators’ trust in the company. The 777X is still expected to be flying passengers soon, but until these issues get resolved, it remains in the testing stage. Read more: These Are The Cars You Love Getting As Ubers And Lyfts What’s New With The 777X A Boeing 777X taxiing on the runway – Ian Dewar Photography/Shutterstock The 777X is a major redesign of the old 777, first flown commercially in 1995. It’s primary goals were to be both physically larger to carry more passengers and burn less fuel per flight. For both of those things to be possible at once, the first thing Boeing needed were upgraded engines. Those came in the form of the massive General Electric GE9X, the biggest engines ever fitted to a commercial jet. In this case, ******* was in fact smaller, since the new engine was 10% more fuel efficient than its predecessor. To push fuel efficiency even further, Boeing designed the 777X to reduce drag by having larger, curved wings. That wingspan, all 235 feet and 5 inches of it, turned out to be so big that it upped the plane from a Category E to a Category F. That’s a major problem, since most airports are only Category E. So the 777X is designed with folding wingtips, so that the plane can save 23 feet worth of wingspan on the ground and be able to land at airports without a size problem. All in all, it’s the biggest commercial airplane in the world, or it would be, if it was actually flying commercially. If the day finally comes when it does, it will be at the apex of the aviation world. The 777X Keeps Having Problems A Boeing 777X with the landing gears down mid-flight – Jon Tetzlaff/Getty Images The 777X started having problems before it even flew. Its first test flight was supposed to be in 2019, but issues with the new (and massive) GE9X kept delaying it. The plane didn’t get into the air until January of 2020, the year it was originally slated to be finalized and delivered to airliners. Once it did get airborne, however, it kept on having issues, including with the avionics, the Flight Control System, and an “uncommanded pitch event” (i.e., the pilots lost control of the plane). In 2021, a year after the original scheduled delivery date, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) wisely decided not to certify such a troubled aircraft while these issues were still unresolved. Then, in the time Boeing was supposed to be resolving them, even more problems emerged. In October 2022, yet another fault with the engines grounded the entire test fleet. Separately, a door panel blew out during a mid-air stress test. In August 2024, cracks were found in the mounting structure for the engines, once again grounding the entire test fleet. They were only recertified to fly in January 2025. Where does this all leave the 777X? As of this writing, Boeing believes it will be able to finally start deliveries in 2026 — a full six years late. Whether or not that’s true largely depends on whether Boeing can fix its plane and convince the FAA that it has done so. Want more like this? 18. CERT-In Warns of Multiple Vulnerabilities Affecting Millions of iOS and Android Devices CERT-In Warns of Multiple Vulnerabilities Affecting Millions of iOS and Android Devices The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued two vulnerability notes warning users of security flaws affecting devices running on Android, iOS, and iPadOS. The first one refers to a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability affecting iPhone and iPad models running on recent versions of iOS and iPadOS. The second note highlights multiple flaws impacting Android devices that could allow malicious users to gain unauthorised access to a device. In both cases, users have been advised to take appropriate action to safeguard their smartphones and tablets. Android, iOS Are Devices Susceptible to DoS Attacks Without Updates CERT-In states in vulnerability note CIVN-2025-0092 that there are several flaws affecting the Android operating system that could be used by an attacker to run dangerous code on a user’s device, and access data remotely. Malicious users could also perform a DoS attack on the device, after gaining elevated privileges. These vulnerabilities affect smartphones running on Android 13, Android 14, and Android 15, according to CERT-In. This effectively means that millions of smartphones that are running on these versions of Android are vulnerable to their devices being compromised unless the relevant security patches are installed on their device. In order to remain safe, users must install the latest Android security patches that were rolled out to devices in May. CERT-In says that smartphones with the latest May 1 security patches will be protected from these security flaws. However, users might have to wait until these patches are made available by smartphone OEMs, while Google Pixel owners with automatic updates should already be protected. On the other hand, CERT-In’s CIVN-2025-0094 note states that iPhone models running on software that was released before iOS 18.3, or iPad models running on iPadOS 18.3 (and iPadOS 17.7.3 on older models) are susceptible to a DoS vulnerability. The agency warns that users who are running on these older versions are at risk of becoming “unresponsive or non-functional” if they run malicious applications that can render them inoperable. Users will need to restore these devices if they are impacted by the DoS attack. CERT-In says that users who have updated to iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and iPadOS 17.7.3 should remain protected from the DoS vulnerability. Considering that iOS 18.3 was released in January, many users should already have this version on their phones and tablets. They might also be running on iOS 18.5, which was released earlier this week. 22. Moskowitz says DOGE caucus is dead: ‘A complete failure’ Moskowitz says DOGE caucus is dead: ‘A complete failure’ Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) said in a new interview that the House DOGE Caucus — originally intended to complement Elon Musk’s work at the White House — is now completely defunct. “The DOGE caucus is dead. It’s defunct,” Moskowitz said in a Politico interview, published in Q&A form on Tuesday. “We haven’t met in months,” he continued. “We only had two total meetings in five months.” Moskowitz, in December, became the first Democrat to join the House DOGE Caucus, which was formed to support efforts by Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to find waste and fraud in the federal government. At the time, Moskowitz pushed back against criticism from fellow Democrats, saying, “The time for staying in safe spaces is over,” and “We got to go to where the conversations are happening.” By February, though, Moskowitz said that while the group had been having some good discussions, they were not looped into Musk’s efforts at DOGE, as they were told they would be. “It doesn’t appear to be any communication between what Elon is doing and the caucus. It seems Congress is behind and being left out,” Moskowitz said in February. Three months later, Moskowitz said he still has not heard anything from Musk’s DOGE. “We weren’t involved at all in anything [happening at DOGE], which Elon was in charge of. Zero. Zilch. Nada. [Musk] did it all on his own,” Moskowitz said in the Politico interview. Moskowitz, who had expressed an openness to making some cuts to boost efficiency, lamented what he views as the failures of the DOGE commission. “DOGE was a complete failure. Complete failure. Nothing has been made more efficient,” Moskowitz told Politico. “Ask the people in Newark… how efficiency is going,” he added, referring to the airport, which has suffered significant delays and staffing shortages in recent weeks. Rep. Aaron Bean (R-Fla.), a DOGE Caucus co-chair, told Politico in a statement that they are “just getting started.” “Congress can enact long-term change, and our 100 committed members and eight specialized working groups are working to codify critical reforms and preparing legislation that will unlock savings for the American people,” Bean said in the statement.
