It’s been a stellar week for technology stocks thanks to thawing global tensions and President Donald Trump’s Middle East jaunt.
Tesla and Nvidia jumped 17% and 16%, respectively, this week as tensions eased between the U.S. and China and Trump’s Middle East dealmaking tour put tech deals in the spotlight.
Both China and the U.S. announced a 90-day pause on tariffs, in a move that signaled a major de-escalation of the sweeping global trade war that has rattled markets since April.
During a White House-led visit to the Middle East this week, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang shared plans to sell more than 18,000 of its artificial intelligence Blackwell chips to Saudi Arabia-based Humain to power data centers.
AMD also said it would supply chips to Humain. AMD shares popped nearly 14% for the week.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk was also in Saudi Arabia and said the kingdom approved the use of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service for aviation and maritime use. Musk also said he plans to bring robotaxis to the country.
In the United Arab Emirates, the White House announced a partnership to build a sweeping AI campus with several U.S. companies. A source told CNBC that Nvidia is among the companies supporting the project.
Recent White House plans to dial back chip export curbs on China from President Joe Biden’s administration for a “much simpler rule” also benefited the sector.
Like many peers, Nvidia needs a license to ship its AI chips to China after the U.S. began cracking down on exports in 2022 due to national security concerns.
Last month, Nvidia said it would record a $5.5 billion charge from H20 GPU shipments to China, which is a key market for the U.S.-based chipmaker. Huang told CNBC that China’s AI market could hit $50 billion over the next two to three years, and missing out would be a “tremendous loss.”

With a superb display in the Qatari capital on Friday, Denny, who moved to second on the world all-time list after a 74.78m throw in Ramona, Oklahoma, last month, defeated Swedish both world champ Daniel Stahl and Slovenia’s former global gold medallist Kristjan Ceh.
It demonstrated how the 28-year-old from the little Queensland town of Allora is ready to kick on after finishing third in Paris last year, as he declared: “It is awesome to win again.
“I have been tired after a lot of travel and a bit flat from the start, but I have had a really good start of the Diamond League season and I cannot wait for the next one.”
This was the Commonwealth champ and two-time Diamond League winner’s first competition since the amazing breakthrough of Ramona, where his effort was only bettered by Lithuanian Mykolas Alekna’s incredible world record there of 75.65m.
“It was pretty tough coming home after that competition if I’m honest. That 74, it levelled me. My first session back, I felt like I forgot how to throw, I was so fatigued,” Denny said.
“There’s momentum there but I didn’t know what to expect today in regards to distance and whether it would be enough, in terms of whether the boys would be out to prove a point to me.”
But he ended up proving a point to them just a day after he had told reporters: “My aim has always been to be the most dominant figure in men’s discus.”
Denny opened up the lead in tricky, windy conditions with his first-round effort of 67.33m, which kept him ahead of Stahl (67.06m) and Ceh (66.92m) throughout until he sealed the deal with a best final-round effort of 68.97.
“I would love to get more really big throws,” said Denny, who always seem to have the best brought out of him by the lucrative Diamond League circuit and its glittering prizes.
“The diamond (trophy) is mine and nobody can take it from me. I had to make sure that nobody was taking from me in that last round and I pushed myself to secure the victory so I am very grateful,” he said, having also collected $US10,000 ($A15,600) for his night’s labours.
Among the international highlights was Jamaica’s Tia Clayton edging her twin sister Tina Clayton in the women’s 100m in a 2025 world-leading 10.92 seconds – 0.1sec faster than her sibling.
Double Olympic 100m champion, the 38-year-old Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce had to settle for fourth.

The slowdown of a major current in the Atlantic Ocean is boosting the sea level and associated flooding in the Northeast US, on top of the already-rising sea level due to climate change. A total collapse of this Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) as the planet warms could raise the sea level even further.
“If the AMOC collapsed, this would dramatically increase the flood frequency along the US coast, even in the absence of strong storms,” says Liping Zhang at the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in New Jersey. “Even partial weakening [of the current] can already have substantial impacts.”
Melting ice sheets and warmer water due to human-caused climate change are leading to a rise in average sea level, but the rate of sea-level rise isn’t the same everywhere. For instance, some coastal land is sinking, speeding the relative rate of sea-level rise in those areas. Local sea level is also shaped by how heat, water and salt circulate in the ocean, with warmer and fresher water taking up more space than colder, saltier water.
On the US north-east coast, the sea level is rising three to four times faster than the global average over recent decades. A slowdown in the AMOC – which transports warm water from lower latitudes to the North Atlantic, where it cools, gets saltier and sinks – has long been proposed as a possible driver for this. When this overturning circulation weakens, deep water along the path of the current is expected to warm and expand, sloshing more water onto the shallow continental shelf.
The AMOC naturally varies in strength on different timescales, and climate change has contributed to a slowdown in recent decades as melting ice freshens the North Atlantic and its waters warm. But it wasn’t clear whether this slowdown was making a big difference to sea level.
Zhang and her colleagues used tide gauge measurements along the New England coast to reconstruct the local sea level stretching back more than a century. On top of a steady rise due to climate change, they found a marked pattern of fluctuation between low and high sea levels every few decades. Years with a high sea level aligned closely with years when the AMOC was weak, and these years also had more frequent coastal flooding.
The researchers then used two different ocean models to quantify how much fluctuations in the AMOC’s strength influenced the local sea level. While the main driver of changes was the steady rise due to climate change, they found the weakening AMOC substantially boosted the sea level and associated flooding. In different parts of the coast, they found that a slowdown in the AMOC was behind 20 to 50 per cent of flooding since 2005.
Because the natural cycles in the AMOC’s strength are largely predictable, the findings could enable researchers to forecast which years will see lots of flooding up to three years in advance, says Zhang. This could help make long-term decisions about infrastructure and emergency preparedness.
“It demonstrates that the AMOC really does matter to [sea level rise],” says Chris Hughes at the University of Liverpool, ***, who wasn’t involved in the research. “It’s not just there in models or theory, it’s actually there in the real world.”
It isn’t clear how much of the recent weakening of the AMOC is due to climate change and how much is due to natural variations. However, the findings add support for projections that much of the US East Coast could see a surge in the sea level if the AMOC were to completely collapse in response to climate change – which, though unlikely, is possible.
A near-total collapse of the current could raise the sea level by around 24 centimetres, says Hughes. “It doesn’t sound very huge, but it doesn’t have to go up very much to have a big effect.”

The game blends atmospheric storytelling with up-close, stamina-based melee combat using swords, axes, and polearms. Players also carry a drone to distract enemies and scout the environment ahead. But don’t expect a standard mission layout; there are no waypoints, no quest logs, and no map markers.
Players will need to rely on environmental clues and conversations with NPCs to figure out where to go. With its stunning visuals, immersive design, and focus on “organic” gameplay, Hell is Us is less about checking boxes and more about making you feel lost, tense, and curious, on purpose.

Wall Street has enjoyed a banner week, with broad gains for equities on the heels of the U.S.-China tariff truce. It would have looked even better if you could remove one stock. Health insurance giant UnitedHealth Group dropped more than 23% this week following a string of bad headlines. On Tuesday, the company pulled its 2025 guidance and announced that CEO Andrew Witty was stepping down . On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the company is facing a Department of Justice Investigation over possible Medicare fraud . UnitedHealth said it has not been notified of any investigation. UNH 5D mountain UnitedHealth Group had the biggest negative impact on the Dow this week. The slumping stock hurt the Dow Jones Industrial Average , in particular. The 30-stock average is weighted by share price, not by the market value of a company, and even after this week’s drop UnitedHealth still has the ninth-highest priced stock in the Dow. All told, this week’s decline chopped off 545 points from the Dow. In other words, if the health care stock had not moved at all this week, the Dow would have closed above 43,000 on Friday, 1.3% higher than where it actually settled. UNH was a drag on the Dow even before its latest decline. Bespoke Investment Group said in an X post on Friday that the Dow would be 4.6% higher over the past six months if the health care provider weren’t in the average. The stock had a smaller but still negative impact on the market cap-weighted S & P 500 . UnitedHealth was still a top 40 holding in the SPDR S & P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) on Friday, but that amounts to less than 1% of the fund. One piece of good news for UnitedHealth investors came when multiple directors stepped in and bought the company’s stock this week. The purchases were small, but could still be taken as a vote of confidence in the company’s direction under a new CEO. News of the purchases helped the stock rally more than 6% on Friday. “We are in newfound valuation territory, and we are hopeful new management can help reset the trajectory, even though it will admittedly take time,” Morgan Stanley analyst Erin Wright said in a note to clients on Wednesday. — CNBC’s Michael Bloom contributed reporting.

US President Donald Trump says that over the next two to three weeks US officials will be sending letters to countries outlining “what they will be paying to do business in the United States”.
Trump, speaking in the capital of the United Arab Emirates Abu Dhabi on the last stage of a four-day tour of Gulf countries, did not clarify further what that meant.
China and the United States announced a truce in their trade war on Monday after talks in Geneva, which Trump mentioned in his Abu Dhabi remarks along with a separate trade deal with the United Kingdom.
“At a certain point over the next two to three weeks I think (US Treasury Secretary) Scott (Bessent) and (US Commerce Secretary) Howard (Lutnick) will be sending letters out … telling people what they’ll be paying to do business in the United States.”
He said countries could appeal it and that US officials would not be able to meet with all the “150 countries that want to make a deal”.
The US also agreed a limited bilateral trade agreement with the *** last week, which leaves in place Trump’s 10 per cent tariffs on *** exports while cutting higher tariffs on steel and cars.
Abu Dhabi was Trump’s last stop on a Gulf tour focused on business deals worth hundred of billions of dollars that could boost the US economy and create jobs.

Star Wars season has proven to be a pretty dramatic change of pace for Fortnite’s battle royale mode, but this week’s big update has introduced a massive surprise: an AI-powered Darth Vader NPC who will fight alongside your squad and actually talk to you and answer your questions in the voice of the late James Earl Jones.
It’s just a little novelty that won’t likely affect how you play at all, but it’s unusually amusing for that sort of thing, since this Darth Vader-themed chatbot’s delivery is spot-on. It’s not any smarter than any other chatbot, since it can’t track a conversation very well, but if you want to listen to Darth Vader say a bunch of stuff–not all of it kid-friendly–while you’re playing Fortnite, he’s good to have around.
The big question, of course, is how do you find and talk to him? The AI Darth Vader NPC has replaced the Darth Vader Samurai boss NPC that had been hanging out at Vader Samurai’s Solitude, but that location is only one of three possible spawn points for Darth Vader each match. Just as it was when Darth Vader first invaded the island three years ago, his location is randomized at the start of each match.
Where to find the AI Darth Vader NPC on the Fortnite island
As mentioned, the AI Darth Vader spawns randomly in one of three possible locations each match: at Vader Samurai’s Solitude in the southwest corner, at the Imperial checkpoint south of the tunnel from Canyon Crossing, and at an Imperial checkpoint to the east of Foxy Floodgate, just over the nearby hill there. The Darth Vader chatbot will spawn in one of these three locations each match.
You’ll be able to determine which spot he’s hanging out at by looking for a parked Lambda-class shuttle–Darth Vader will always be in the same place the shuttle is. While you won’t be able to watch the shuttle land from the battle bus like we could in Chapter 3 Season 3, the parked shuttle is quite visible from far away and will never be culled from your sight by view distance limitations.
How to talk to Fortnite’s AI Darth Vader chatbot
Once you figure out which spot to go to, you’ll have to beat Darth Vader in combat, along with the four stormtroopers that accompany him–not to mention any other players who might compete with you for Vader’s affections. Once you’ve beaten him, he’ll spawn a Force training portal where you’ll get a red lightsaber, the lightsaber throw ability, and Vader’s loyalty.
Once you’ve done all that, congrats! You can now talk to the Darth Vader chatbot and consult it on whatever topic you want. In order to address Darth Vader, you’ll need to hold down the chat button while you speak–by default that’s right on the d-pad for controllers, and the Y key for mouse and keyboard folks.
The Darth Vader chatbot has already been the source of a little controversy, after it quoted Loserfruit’s use of a curse word back at her on stream, but the official Fortnite twitter account says that he’s been hotfixed to not do that anymore.

Surrey Police are appealing for information after a man sprayed an unknown substance on two people, leaving one with burns to his eyes.
The force said the assault took place on the Egham Bypass at about 18:50 BST on Saturday.
A white man reportedly got out of a blue Saab and approached another vehicle waiting at the roundabout before spraying a substance at the two occupants on the southbound carriageway, opposite Maranello’s heading towards Englefield Green, according to police.
The victims sustained “serious skin irritation” and one had “superficial burns” to his eyes, said officers.
Both were taken to hospital after attending Staines Police Station.
Officers said the liquid was being tested.
Surrey Police added that the man got back into his vehicle and followed the victims’ vehicle for a short time towards the Staines area.
The force urged anyone in the area at the time to come forward if they have information that could help their investigation.

What’s it going to take for us to get a Top Gun game?
If comments on Reddit are any indication, fans have been longing for a proper Top Gun-style experience for years. We’ve gotten games like Ace Combat 7 and Digital Combat Simulator World that have come close, but they still miss that charm, you know. Ace Combat is heavy into its sci-fi alternate universe, and while its gameplay is flashy, it doesn’t quite give us that grounded military feel that the movies have.
On the other hand, DCS World is hyper-realistic but intimidating. The game has a lot of complicated features and a steep learning curve that drives away most newcomers. Then there’s the fact that you often have to buy specific equipment like HOTAS setups and TrackIR to play these games properly. This is exactly why we need a
The funny part is that we’ve already seen a blueprint for the perfect Top Gun game; it just happens to be set in a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: Squadrons came out in 2020, and it earned praise for its flying controls, immersive cockpit views, and space combat. The game lets us Star Wars fans live out the fantasy of being a starfighter pilot, and a Top Gun game could do that too.

Squadrons ended up being a disappointment in the end, but that wasn’t because of its gameplay. Players loved the gameplay, but didn’t enjoy the majority of the content and lack of post-launch support. A single-player campaign and limited multiplayer modes just weren’t enough to maintain long-term interest.

Thanks to Beam, it’s possible to enjoy a Sazarac, a staple New Orleans *********, with a rye that predates the old-school drink’s invention by more than 20 years. In the last few years the brand has come out with various iterations, including a 10-year-old cask strength version that’s garnered new fans for this very old ********.

Marvel Rivals has been the talk of the town for a while now. The game made by NetEase Games has been hitting the top charts ever since its release back in December of 2024 and while the title has also grown in popularity in the last few months with the addition of new fan favorite heroes, there are some aspects that players find annoying that the devs have still not addressed.
Of course, we are talking about the unskippable post-match MVP animations. Though they seem harmless and cool at the same time, sitting through them after every match just feels exhausting. Let’s delve deeper into this.
Marvel Rivals’ post-match cinematics are annoying
Marvel Rivals has turned out to be one of the best hero-shooter games in the video game space. The title’s free-to-play approach and its connection with the Marvel Universe have given it a huge boost in player base, with the game reaching more than 10 million players worldwide within 72 hours of its release.
It is not a surprise that Marvel Rivals‘ main focus has always sort of been aesthetics, where character designs, animations, and small cutscenes are constantly keeping the players’ focus on the screen. Although these extra visual appeal sounds good on paper, during actual matches, these eye candies sort of become an annoyance.
It’s not like the visual appeals are only present after a match ends; when the game starts up, it automatically shows the player a cutscene of what is going on in the current season of Marvel Rivals. While it is sort of annoying to watch the same cutscene every time you boot up the game, the developers have added an option to skip it.
The skip button is available on the bootup cutscene and all the unique character screen animations, but it is not available for the post-match animation sequence. It is like NetEase is forcefully shoving it down our throats, even though it is universally hated.

Marvel Rivals is not a bad game by a long shot. The visuals are amazing, the characters feel alive, and the gameplay is absolutely how a proper hero-shooter is supposed to be, with different hero types. But even though with all the good things in it, these annoying bite-sized aspects can truly pull the experience down.
What should feel like an exciting way to celebrate or consolation, feels like a chore, especially when you are forced to sit through it after every game. It is even more frustrating for the players who have joined a match mid-match or at the verge of just ending the match, where they have to sit through the whole thing, even though they did not even experience the whole match.
The devs have already provided the option to skip most of the game’s cinematic elements, so why not do the same with this one? It does not make sense. While we are not sure whether NetEase will address this issue or not, we are definitely sick and tired of it and want it gone.

Musician Nate Smith says he knew he needed to cut back on alcohol and switch to a healthier diet after he “got pretty heavy” in recent years
By partying less and making small tweaks to his diet — like eating more protein and changing his coffee order — Smith tells PEOPLE he has since lost 55 lbs.

Nate Smith knew he had a weight problem.
“I feel like the last few years I got pretty heavy,” Smith, 39, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview from his home outside of Nashville. “Every day, I would look in the mirror and I just felt bad about myself. I just was so depressed, and literally, I didn’t like the way I looked. I didn’t like the way my clothes fit. It’s something I’ve been sad about for a long time.”
Smith also knew that there was a time when he was drinking far too much.
“Last year and the year before were a blur,” admits Smith, who burst on the country music scene back in 2022 with his number one hit “******** on You.”
He says, “I was drunk so often at shows. I was trying to find an escape, and literally that was my thing. It was the funnest time of my life, but I didn’t realize I was killing myself. You can’t party every day. It has to be a treat, especially if you want to be here for the long haul.”
But last fall, fate seemed to step in at just the right moment, when the country music hitmaker was diagnosed with a respiratory infection that had him paying attention to his health for the first time in a long time.

“I was eating healthy for two days and I thought we might as well just do it now,” he recalls of the beginnings of his weight loss journey. “I was kind of over it.”
So, at the urging of his brother, Smith began a high protein diet and started counting calories. “But I was still struggling,” remembers Smith, whose current single is the top 20 flamethrower “Fix What You Didn’t Break.”

“I mean, I like white mochas in the morning at Starbucks,” he says with a laugh. “But I started just reducing the pumps of the mocha. And then eventually I did sugar-free vanilla. Now I do sugar-free vanilla and a half and half in my coffee, and I don’t even think about it.
Smith says he’s “not dieting” — instead, he’s “just making little changes.”
And those little changes have resulted in a 55-pound weight loss so far for the “World on Fire” hitmaker. “I feel like a whole new person,” exclaims Smith, who will head out this summer with fellow country music powerhouse Jason Aldean on his Full Throttle Tour.
Certainly, Smith admits that weight battles have long run in the family. But in recent years, they all have begun to fight back. “My mom sort of led the charge, since she’s been doing aerobics for years,” Smith recalls. “And then my brother [social media influencer Kyle Smith, otherwise known as Tasty Shreds] went high protein and low calorie and lost 80 pounds.”

And while Smith says he still wants to lose more weight, some things will never change. “I hate working out more than anything in the world,” he laughs. “I don’t run. I just can’t relate to someone who says they love to run.”

But all jokes aside, the battle is still very real for the musician.
“I still struggle with some binge eating,” says Smith, quick to point to a dirty macaroni and cheese pot in his sink from the night before. “And if I want to have it, I’m going to have it. But I want to find a way to make it a treat versus a lifestyle thing. If I decide I’m going to have mac and cheese, it’s OK.”
“I’m not even close to my goal,” Smith continues, “but I’m way happier where I’m at, and I feel like better about the way I look.”

Multi-tenant
Multi-tenant architecture is budget-friendly, as costs are distributed across tenants. This architecture is best for smaller companies and those trying new technologies or approaches. Providers and data center owners can offer tenants competitive pricing without compromising technology quality.
Multi-tenancy offers infrastructure scalability to accommodate more users without significant additional costs to tenants. Businesses can grow without the need to manage hardware or demand, as the facility owner is responsible for management.
The data center facility owner manages all maintenance tasks in multi-tenancy, leaving customers free to focus on their core business. Tenants have access to the latest features and security enhancements without the added overhead costs. The underlying infrastructure is set up more efficiently to maximize the use of hardware and network resources across the architecture.
Cons of single-tenant and multi-tenant architecture
While both cloud architecture types are beneficial, some drawbacks might cause IT teams to hesitate before signing on the dotted line.
Single-tenant
Single-tenant architecture has higher costs because of the hardware and network resources required and the technical staff needed to manage them. Staff training, onboarding costs, maintenance scheduling and hardware lifecycles must also be managed and considered.

The shared environment of multi-tenant architecture adds an element of risk, even while data and apps are logically isolated. Multi-tenant security risks cause industries like healthcare, finance and government to choose single-tenant architecture.
Tenants are limited in what they can customize in a multi-tenant data center, increasing compatibility concerns with other systems. Organizations also depend on the provider’s maintenance schedule, which might not align with their operational timelines.
When to choose single-tenant and multi-tenant architecture
Choosing between single-tenant and multi-tenant architecture depends on each business’s uses. Large enterprises might think multi-tenant architecture is more attractive and cost-effective until they realize they need more customization and integration features. So, they decide on single-tenant architecture.

DOGE Seeks to Investigate Another Watchdog: the Government Accountability Office
Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is now seeking to investigate a federal agency with a mission similar to its own: the Government Accountability Office, which has been hunting for waste and inefficiency in government since the 1920s.
The Government Accountability Office said in a statement on Friday that it had rejected a request from Mr. Musk’s group to “assign a team” to the century-old budget agency.
“As a legislative branch agency, G.A.O. is not subject to executive orders and has therefore declined any requests to have a DOGE team assigned,” the agency said in its statement.
A spokeswoman for the Government Accountability Office declined to say when the agency was first contacted by Mr. Musk’s group. A spokesman for Mr. Musk’s group did not immediately reply to a request for comment. The confrontation between the two watchdog groups was first reported by Wired.
Mr. Musk’s group has audited agencies across government, and claims to have found $170 billion in savings, although that figure is inflated by errors, guesswork and zombie contracts that were killed but later reinstated.
On the surface, the Government Accountability Office would seem less like a target and more like an ally of Mr. Musk’s group. The office audits federal programs for waste, fraud and mismanagement. Its budget is about $900 million, but the agency says it saves $76 for every dollar invested in its work.
But now the accountability office could become a roadblock for President Trump, who set Mr. Musk’s group in motion.
The older watchdog agency, led by Comptroller General Gene L. Dodaro, finds itself at the center of a brewing battle over a power known as impoundment, the ability of the president to halt the delivery of funds that have been appropriated by Congress.
In his sweeping reconfiguration of American government, Mr. Trump has claimed he has vast powers to direct the course of the nation’s spending. He and his leading budget adviser, Russell T. Vought, maintain that a 1970s law restricting impoundment is unconstitutional, setting up a potential legal clash around the power over the nation’s purse.
Still, the statute empowers the Government Accountability Office to investigate potential violations, and in late April, Mr. Dodaro acknowledged his team had opened more than three dozen probes into reports that the Trump administration illegally withheld congressionally authorized funds.
“We’re trying to get information from the agencies about what their legal position is for not expending the money,” Mr. Dodaro told the Senate at a hearing, as he acknowledged some agencies had been “unresponsive” to the inquiries.
Mr. Dodaro did not signal how his office might proceed, but it has the power under law to sue the administration for violations.
A similar showdown arose at the end of Mr. Trump’s first term, as Democrats moved to impeach him. The Government Accountability Office found that the administration had violated the law by illegally withholding roughly $400 million in aid to Ukraine in defiance of Congress, though the administration claimed it had acted lawfully.
Senator Patty Murray of Washington, the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said in a statement that Mr. Musk’s group has no power over the older watchdog group.
“The law is crystal clear: G.A.O. is a legislative branch agency not subject to DOGE or the president’s whims,” Ms. Murray said in a statement. “It is an indispensable, impartial government watchdog, and its independence must remain. My message to Elon and DOGE: get lost.”
Mr. Trump has already faced pushback from legislators of both parties over his effort to take over another congressional institution: the Library of Congress. Mr. Trump recently fired the librarian of Congress before the end of her term, and sought to replace her with his former personal lawyer, now a top official at the Department of Justice.
