Sony Is Discontinuing PlayStation Stars Rewards Program Sony Is Discontinuing PlayStation Stars Rewards Program In 2022, Sony unveiled its PlayStation Stars rewards program, which gave dedicated players a chance to earn digital collectibles. Now, less than three years later, Sony has announced that it will be ending the PlayStation Stars program in the near future. Sony praised PlayStation Stars for fostering “a deeper connection with fans around the world.” However, the video game company went on to say that after evaluating PlayStation Stars, it decided to bring it to a close. As of today, PlayStation Stars is no longer accepting new members. Existing members who close their membership also won’t be able to re-join. The end of the program won’t come all at once. Members are still able to level up their PlayStation Stars status and earn more digital collectibles through July 23 at 7:59 AM PT / 10:59 AM ET / 3:59 PM BST. No additional rewards or campaigns will be available after that time. Players will still be able redeem their PlayStation Stars rewards until November 2, 2026. Sony also assured players that they will still be able to access their digital collectibles, “even after these changes take place.” Throughout the announcement, Sony refers to “this version” of PlayStation Stars while adding that it will “evaluate our key findings from this program” and “explore new ways to evolve our loyalty program efforts for the future.” Sony also thanked all of the players who participated in PlayStation Stars. In other Sony-related news, the free PlayStation Plus games for May will remain available until June 2. This month’s titles include Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun and the fan-favorite Balatro. ‘Unicorn with wings’: Birdwatchers dazzled by remarkable white feathered Baudin’s ****** cockatoo ‘Unicorn with wings’: Birdwatchers dazzled by remarkable white feathered Baudin’s ****** cockatoo A critically endangered Bauldin’s ****** cockatoo has dazzled onlookers across the South West with its plumage of white feathers. The remarkable cockatoo gets its unique colouring from leucism — a rare condition in animals causing them to lose pigmentation in their skin, hair and feathers. The bird has been known to many around the Margaret River region and trying to capture it on film has been a passion of Margaret River Discovery Tours owner and operator Sean Blocksidge. “I’d been trying for years to find her as she has quite a range across the region, I’d been asking people who’d seen her is she really that distinctive among the flock, and they’d all said yes,” he said. “Nothing quite prepared me for how distinctive — the contrast is quite remarkable as she flies among the flock.” Mr Blocksidge managed to finally encounter the cockatoo earlier this month capturing her, her partner and the whole flock at Gathered Organics farm shop. “I dropped everything and was there in a flash,” he said. “I spent 45 amazing minutes with her — watching her fly through the vines and bush, nibble on leftover grapes, drink from the rain, and just, be.” With estimates from the *********** Conservation Foundation indicating there are fewer than 15,000 Baudin’s ****** cockatoos left in the wild, Mr Blocksidge said it was already one of the rarest birds on the planet. Her colouring makes her even more remarkable,” he said. “Like spotting a unicorn — with wings. “It went nuts on the socials, that’s remarkable for my small little social account,” Mr Blocksidge said. Giro d’Italia 2025: Richard Carapaz wins stage 11 as Isaac del Tor retains pink jersey Giro d’Italia 2025: Richard Carapaz wins stage 11 as Isaac del Tor retains pink jersey Richard Carapaz launched a late attack to take victory on stage 11 of the Giro d’Italia on Wednesday, while overall leader Isaac del Toro finished second. Britain’s Tom Pidcock came fourth, just off the podium, as he was overhauled in the final metres by Lidl-Trek’s Giulio Ciccone. The 186km ride from Viareggio to Castelnovo ne’ Monti saw 3,812 metres of climbing, including gradients of about 20%. A breakaway group of four led until the final climb but once they were hauled in, Carapaz’s EF Education-EasyPost set a rapid pace before the Ecuadorian attacked hard. The 2019 Giro winner and 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion went clear and although his lead was cut in the final metres, he held on to win by 10 seconds from Team Emirates-XRG’s ******** rider Del Toro. Del Toro retained the leader’s pink jersey, having added six seconds to his lead over his Spanish team-mate Juan Ayuso, while Carapaz moved up to sixth overall. Tryx’s new PC case has an embedded curved display Tryx’s new PC case has an embedded curved display A relatively new name in the PC hardware market, Tryx, gained attention last year with its Panorama AIO liquid coolers featuring L-shaped curved OLED screens. This year, the company is extending that concept to its new PC case, the Arcvision. Additionally Tryx announced an airflow-focused case, a lifestyle-oriented case, and its first CPU air cooler. The Arcvision is a premium mid-tower case featuring curved tempered glass panels on the front and side. It supports ATX motherboards and up to seven cooling fans, with room for radiators up to 360 mm. The standout feature is the embedded curved display in the lower-left corner, which creates the illusion of a panoramic view. You may like Image 1 of 3 (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) The display is similar to the one used by Tryx in their AIO coolers and is housed within a removable panel. The company will offer interchangeable panels with wood or marble finishes, and the case itself will be available in versions both with and without the curved screen. Tryx plans to launch the case by the end of the year in ****** and white color options, with pricing starting at $120 for the standard version and around $240 for the model with the curved display. The second PC case in the lineup is the Flova, which features a fabric finish on the front and the power supply shroud, along with some wooden feet. Since fabric isn’t ideal for airflow, Tryx has introduced an interesting solution. In addition to the standard vertical triple-fan mount, the case includes a cross-flow fan that draws air in through side vents. The mounting system is designed to support both cross-flow and traditional case fans at the same time. The front panel allows the fabric cover to be removed easily for cleaning if dust builds up over time. The case supports up to ATX motherboards, including models with reverse connectors. It accommodates up to a 360 mm radiator or three 120 mm fans at the top, a single fan at the rear, and up to a 240 mm radiator or two 120 mm fans on the side. Image 1 of 4 (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) For those who prioritize airflow, the company also introduced the new Luca and Luca Air cases. Both feature the company’s X-shaped floating base design, while the Luca Air offers the option to install two 200 mm front fans with a 38 mm thickness. The case also includes an integrated solution for connecting the front fans via pogo pins. Get Tom’s Hardware’s best news and in-depth reviews, straight to your inbox. It sports a high-performance dual-tower design with two fans, six heat pipes, and a plastic shroud reminiscent of the DeepCool Assassin IV series. The cooler also features a removable 5-inch LCD for displaying system stats, GIFs, or custom artwork. Additionally, the front fan can be repositioned to accommodate high-profile memory modules. Seasonic’s next-generation Prime PSUs to will try to stop connectors from melting Seasonic’s next-generation Prime PSUs to will try to stop connectors from melting Seasonic plans to add a feature to its next-generation Prime power supplies that promises to solve the problem of overheating and melting 12VHPWR and 12V-2×6 power connectors once and for all. While the company promises to solve the problem, it does not resolve its source. At Computex, the company demonstrated a prototype. A set of sensors, a microcontroller, and firmware that Seasonic plans to incorporate into its upcoming Prime power supplies will all work together, according to the company. Although the production quality of cables, connectors, and the way people plug in their graphics cards have consequences, one of the key sources of the problem lies in the fact that graphics cards can create unbalanced loads on power rails in different circumstances, which can cause voltage increases and/or current increases on the power supply side. This causes wires in the power cable to overheat, eventually melting them and damaging graphics cards. You may like (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) Seasonic proposes what is essentially two-factor protection against such a catastrophe. First up, contemporary premium power supplies can monitor their voltage output and current, and can alert PC owners of a malfunction. Seasonic proposes to use a special external device to tell users about problems, as well as enable end-users to monitor their 12V-2×6 connectors while using their graphics cards. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) However, this measure doesn’t work if you’re not at your computer. To that end, Seasonic has added special circuitry with sensors that measure temperature and current on 12V-2×6 power connectors near the PSU. If temperature or current exceeds designated thresholds, next-generation Seasonic Prime PSUs will not only notify the owner using an external device (if plugged in), but will also trigger over-temperature and over-current protection that the power supply already has and therefore shut the system down. While this could possibly ruin a day of offline rendering, it could also possibly save a very expensive graphics card. On the other hand, if an abnormal shutdown also ruins an SSD or HDD with precious data, this will certainly cause more damage than help. But this is a technology for next-generation PSUs, so we will see how Seasonic’s plans work out. Seasonic plans to finish development of its next-generation Prime-series PSUs by the end of the year and then start to sell them in the first quarter of 2026. Pricing hasn’t been announced, though some additional chips and firmware work may boost pricing of already premium Prime power supplies to a new level. Mario Kart World Started As A Switch Game, But Switch 2 Let Nintendo Realize Its Vision Mario Kart World Started As A Switch Game, But Switch 2 Let Nintendo Realize Its Vision The road for Mario Kart World has been a long one, as its developers have revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 launch title started development in 2017 as a Switch 1 game. Details about the history of Mario Kart World’s development were just one detail of many to come from Nintendo’s Ask a Developer interview series, where one of the game’s producers, Kosuke Yabuki, said that prototyping for Mario Kart World began eight years ago in 2017 and that the decision to move the game to Switch 2 was “truly a ray of hope.” You need a javascript enabled browser to watch videos. Even in early development the team used the Mario Kart World name instead of calling it Mario Kart 9, as the team wanted to move away from the strictly track-based gameplay the series had been known for. Meanwhile, the increased player count led to technical challenges when developing for the original Nintendo Switch, according to Mario Kart World’s programming director Kenta Sato. He said it was “difficult to incorporate everything we wanted” when developing on Switch 1, and that the team was “always conscious” of what sacrifices were being made. “We discussed things like toning down the visuals, lowering the resolution, and we even considered dropping the frame rate to 30fps in some cases,” Sato said. “It was a tough situation.” The team kept “kicking the can down the road” in terms of what to scale back on, before the release of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pack gave the team more development time, Yabuki said. “That’s when the conversation of moving it to the Nintendo Switch 2 system came up, and this suddenly opened up a bunch of possibilities on what we could do,” Yabuki said. “It was truly a ray of hope.” Mario Kart World will release alongside the Switch 2 on June 5. Nintendo has previously detailed Mario Kart World’s Free Roam mode as well as its playable characters and confirmed items, and more recently put to bed speculation that it had used AI to generate certain billboards in Mario Kart World. Investors got a ‘mulligan’ after market recovered from tariffs — what they should do next Investors got a ‘mulligan’ after market recovered from tariffs — what they should do next The market’s remarkable one-month turnaround from the tariff-induced rout may have many investors wondering how to position themselves for what lies ahead. The S & P 500 is above the level it traded on April 2, when President Donald Trump detailed his sweeping tariff policy. Stocks tumbled in the wake of that announcement and remained rocky as the president walked back many of those levies and announced a pause for negotiations. The broad-based index is now up 1% year to date, as of Tuesday’s close — when it ended lower and snapped a six-day win streak. Stocks were down again on Wednesday as Treasury yields moved higher . .SPX YTD mountain S & P 500 year to date Many are warning the volatility will continue. On Monday, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said the stock market is underappreciating the possibility of higher inflation and stagflation. “My own view is people feel pretty good because you haven’t seen effective tariffs,” he said during the bank’s annual investor day meeting. “The market came down 10%, [it’s] back up 10%. That’s an extraordinary amount of complacency.” Still, UBS Global Wealth Management recommends staying invested. It anticipates the S & P 500 will edge higher over the next 12 months and the 10-year Treasury yield will fall. “We believe phasing into the stock market can be an effective way to position for medium- and longer-term equity gains while managing timing risks, and capital preservation strategies can help navigate near-term risks of stock declines,” Mark Haefele, the firm’s chief investment officer at UBS Global Wealth Management, wrote in a note Wednesday. “Investors should also consider quality bonds, gold, and hedge funds to ensure portfolio diversification.” Wells Fargo Investment Institute suggests sticking with quality in this environment. “In our view, quality companies can help defend against market pullbacks by virtue of strong and stable profit margins, low debt, and steady cash flow. They also have the size and earnings potential to possibly outperform (‘play offense’) through choppier economic periods that put smaller peers under earnings pressure,” Scott Wren, the firm’s senior global market strategist, wrote in a note Wednesday. With that in mind, CNBC Pro reached out to financial professionals for advice on how investors should position themselves from here. Re-evaluate your risk profile If the market’s twists and turns kept investors awake at night, they probably have the wrong risk profile in their portfolios, said Nathan Hoyt, chief investment officer for Regent Peak Wealth Advisors. For those investors, the quick turnaround was a “gift,” he said. “Now they get to take a mulligan and get their risk profile back to where it should be,” he said. Mitchell Goldberg, president of ClientFirst Strategy, agrees. “We can have a 10% or 20% drop in the market at any given time for any reason and often we don’t even know the reason until some time has passed,” he said. “So it has to be baked into your investments that you have these drops.” Diversify away from tech With megacap tech encompassing a large part of the S & P 500, many mutual fund investors may have no idea how overexposed they are to technology stocks, Goldberg said. “The S & P 500 today is not your father’s S & P 500,” he said. “It is a much more concentrated portfolio.” Instead, Goldberg buys individual stocks for clients, making sure they are diversified in many different industries. “I don’t mind missing some upside because I am perfectly willing to do that to take on a little bit less risk when something goes wrong,” he said. The tech sector, which saw a meteoric rise in recent years, has been subject to bouts of volatility this year. Hit hard by tariffs, the so-called Magnificent 7 group of tech names added an aggregate $837.5 billion in market value last Monday after the United States and China agreed to suspend duties for 90 days on most goods. Add small caps For those investors comfortable with riding out market volatility, Hoyt suggests adding small-cap stocks. “The small cap sector still trades at a big discount to large caps,” he said. “They have some catching up to do.” The Russell 2000 Index , the small-cap benchmark, was the first to enter bear-market territory the day after tariffs were announced. The S & P 500 at one point also fell into bear-market territory during intraday trading in the post-tariff slide. A bear market is a 20% or more decline from a 52-week high. .RUT YTD mountain Russell 2000 Index While the Russell 2000 has also reversed course since last month’s bottom, it is still down about 6% year to date. Buy undervalued dividend stocks While the S & P 500 may have made it back to where it started pre-tariff announcement, many areas of the market have not, said Jenny Harrington, CEO of Gilman Hill Asset Management. “The market’s no longer riding a tide that will lift all ships,” she said. “Each ship needs to be able to sail on its own.” While earnings were better than expected and language on the calls regarding tariffs didn’t anticipate “Armageddon,” they reflect a “stale world order,” she noted. “We’re better off today than we were on April 4, but I would still argue that we’re worse off than we were on April 1,” said Harrington, whose strategy focuses on dividend income. Therefore, she is positioning portfolios with a very sensitive eye towards valuations. Two names she recently bought are Ethan Allen , which has a dividend yield of 5.8%, and Ryman Hospitality , a real estate investment trust that yields 4.65%. The former trades at 13x earnings and has zero debt, while the latter trades at 11x earnings, she said. She sees an improving competitive situation for Ethan Allen, which produces most of its furniture in North America. Ryman Hospitality has a transparent line of sight on future earnings but has been lumped in with hotel REITs that have sold off on concerns about the possibility of a recession, she said. Harrington also likes Disney , Cisco and Unilever . Invest in high-quality bonds Fixed-income markets will also be volatile, so investors should be selective, said Wells Fargo’s Wren. He favors high-quality investment-grade corporates, as well as general-obligation and essential-services municipal bonds . He prefers maturities in the range of three to seven years. Goldberg likes Treasurys and high-grade corporate bonds for fixed-income portfolios. Municipal bonds are attractive for wealthy investors, since munis are free of federal tax and, if the holder resides in the state in which the bond is issued, exempt from state tax, he said. He buys individual bonds rather than funds. “I know what the maturity is going to be and I can reinvest it according to a schedule,” Goldberg explained. “If interest rates go up appreciably, bond funds could be sitting on very long-term losses.” Use gold as a ballast Investors should look beyond typical fixed-income allocations and use gold as a hedge , according to David Miller, founder and chief investment officer at Catalyst Funds. The recent downgrade by Moody’s of the U.S. credit rating — and the mounting government deficit — is emblematic of the broader theme of de-dollarization and the need to diversify, he said. Investors have flocked to gold amid the market volatility this year, with gold futures rallying 23% so far this year. An April report from Morningstar found its diversified portfolio — which includes real estate investment trusts, gold, high yield bonds and global assets — was outperforming its “plain vanilla” portfolio of 60% U.S. stocks and 40% high-quality U.S. bonds so far this year. “Gold’s done a very good job of actually maintaining its purchasing power over the course of several decades, because nobody figured out how to print gold,” Miller said. “So it is a pretty good inflation hedge.” Bonds, on the other hand, lost about 30% of their purchasing power over the course of the last decade thanks to inflation, according to his calculations. He applies the same theory to stocks. He favors names that have pricing power in this environment, like a Visa or Mastercard . Both stocks get a percentage of every transaction, he said. Anti-****** protests in southern Gaza enter third day Anti-****** protests in southern Gaza enter third day Naomi Scherbel-Ball BBC News, reporting from Jerusalem Supplied Videos showed protests chanting: “Out! Out! Out! All of ******, out.” Palestinians have taken to the streets in southern Gaza for a third day to protest against ******. Hundreds of demonstrators were seen in videos posted on social media calling for an end to the war and for the removal of the armed group from Gaza. “Out! Out! Out! All of ******, out!” they chanted. Speaking out against ****** can be dangerous in Gaza and threats circulated on journalists’ WhatsApp groups on Tuesday, forbidding them from publishing any “negative news that could affect the morale of the people”. Activists said young people started the protests on Monday and were joined by others on their way to get food from community kitchens, who were still holding their pots. The protesters directed their anger at ******’s leadership after an interview with senior official Sami Abu Zuhri circulated on social media. Speaking on a podcast which originally aired in late March, he said that the war with Israel was “eternal”, adding: “We will rebuild the houses and produce dozens more babies for each martyr.” Videos from the protests in Khan Younis show young men criticizing ****** for selling their “blood for a dollar… To those with ******, be aware the people of Gaza will dig your grave”. Supplied Activists said young people started the protests in Khan Younis on Monday In recent months, protests against ****** have been on the rise in northern Gaza, but activists say the group’s presence in the south has remained strong and it has successfully suppressed public dissent until now. International journalists including those with the BBC are blocked by Israel from reporting in Gaza and anti-****** sentiment remains difficult to assess from afar. Israel has carried out daily air strikes on Khan Younis since Monday, when the Israeli army issued residents with one of the largest evacuation orders this year, telling those in the eastern half of the city to head immediately towards camps in the coastal al-Mawasi area. One man, who we are calling Alaa, was among those who started the protests. He agreed to speak to the BBC on condition of anonymity, for fear of reprisals from ******. “The people do not care anymore about ******’ attempts to suppress their voice because they are literally dying from hunger, evacuation, and the bombings,” he said. Alaa, who is originally from northern Gaza, said he had had to move around 20 times over the course of the 19-month war and could not afford to buy a tent for shelter. Previously imprisoned for taking part in anti-****** protests in 2019, Alaa said ****** needed to leave. “Resistance was not born with ******, and even if ****** is gone, there will be other faces of resistance [to the Israeli occupation]. But this current policy will cost us all of Palestine and the nation.” “We just want our children to live in peace, and we deliver a message to the whole world, to try their best in pressuring Israel and ****** so we can save us and our children from this war.” In Gaza, public criticism of ****** carries significant risks. In March, 22-year old Oday a-Rubai was abducted and tortured to death by armed gunmen after taking part in anti-****** protests in Gaza City. There are reports that others have been beaten, shot or killed for publicly opposing the group. Alaa said that as their protest approached Nasser hospital on Monday a group of men told them to stop. “There was one man who wanted to pull out his gun, but his friend stopped him. They couldn’t do anything because they were outnumbered by the number of protesters.” Moumen al-Natour, who is a lawyer, former political prisoner, and co-founder of the anti-****** protest movement, We Want to Live, said: “The fatigue, effort and cost of displacement is pushing people to revolt against ****** who refuse to surrender and hand over their weapons.” The United Nations says that since 15 May, more than 57,000 people have been displaced in southern Gaza due to the fighting and evacuation orders. More than 53,000 people have been killed across Gaza since the start of the war, according to the ******-run health ministry, 82 of them in the past 24 hours. Israel launched a military campaign to destroy ****** after the group’s cross-border attack on 7 October 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken back to Gaza as hostages. ‘Landmark case in the field’ ‘Landmark case in the field’ Authorities found 5,000 smuggled ants that two Belgian teenagers planned to ship overseas to exotic **** markets. What’s happening? In early April, Kenya Wildlife Service officers uncovered the ants in a guesthouse in the western part of the country. According to the Guardian, two Belgian teenagers, Lornoy David and Seppe Lodewijckx, intended to ship the ants to Europe and Asia. **** ants are growing in popularity. An anonymous online ant vendor spoke to the Guardian, saying, “In today’s world … many are disconnected from themselves and their environment. Watching ants in a formicarium can be surprisingly therapeutic.” The seized ants were mostly Messor cephalotes, a large red harvester species from East Africa. Ants R Us, a site that sells to ant collectors, prices Messor cephalotes at around $265 per colony. David said, “We did not come here to break any laws. By accident and stupidity, we did.” The two teens likely don’t realize how dangerous an invasive ant species is to an ecosystem. What’s concerning about the ant market? A 2023 paper on the ant trade, published in the journal Biological Conservation, explained that “the most sought-after ants have higher invasive potential.” Watch now: Giant snails invading New York City? Invasive species topple ecosystems. They push out native creatures, deplete resources, and alter habitats. This reduces biodiversity, threatening food and water security, climate stability, and disease control. Removing species from their natural habitat also disrupts those ecosystems. Every living being, from bacteria to apex predators, plays a vital role, and ants are especially important. Dino Martins, an entomologist and evolutionary biologist in Kenya, told the Guardian that harvest ants are a crucial insect. On the African savannah, they support plant germination, contribute to soil nutrients, and create food sources for other animals. Taking them from their natural habitat could cripple these environments, and introducing them elsewhere can harm ecosystems. In short, the ******** ant market is a recipe for global disaster. What’s being done about the exotic ant trade? Authorities are trying to stop ******** ant trading and smuggling before it becomes more severe. But this case shows how it’s growing. The anonymous ant seller called this a “landmark case in the field,” and noted that, “people traveling to other countries specifically to collect ants and then returning with them is virtually unheard of.” In 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture released a message urging ant keepers to be responsible and cautious. The message said, “Although ant keeping is an exciting hobby, ant keepers must understand the risks.” People should thoroughly research ant vendors and species before purchasing, and take extra care to prevent exotic ants from being released into nature. Viking Charts a New Course as Adult-Only Model Is a Premium Growth Play Viking Charts a New Course as Adult-Only Model Is a Premium Growth Play Viking Holdings Inc. is a relative newcomer to investors. The cruise line, known for its longships and child-free cruises, completed its initial public offering (IPO) in April 2024. The company just reported its first-quarter earnings for 2025. The results show a company that’s maturing, and the stock chart may confirm future growth even at a premium valuation. The first quarter is historically the weakest for cruise lines, and seasonality is particularly notable with Viking. The company’s river cruise season primarily runs from April to October. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Viking delivered a double beat with revenue of $897.06 million coming in over 6% higher than analysts’ estimates of $841.18 million. The topline number was also an impressive 24.9% higher on a year-over-year (YOY) basis. That was supported by a 14.9% increase in capacity passenger cruise days and 94.5% occupancy for the quarter. Also, in a quarter when cruise lines typically post losses, Viking’s loss of $0.24 per share beat estimates of a $0.27 loss and improved from the $0.74 loss reported in May 2024. Demand Remains Strong Like many transportation stocks, Viking stock dropped sharply on the announcement of the Liberation Day tariffs. However, that appears to be an example of traders selling first and asking questions later. The cruise line industry appears to be insulated from tariff pressures. Viking’s target audience consists of a generation with the disposable income to travel. Viking’s business model includes no casinos on board the ships and no passengers under the age of 18. These are not party ships. The stock’s drop after the report may express concern about the number of passengers who sailed in the prior quarter, which came in approximately 88,000 below estimates. Still, there’s no evidence that demand is waning. The company announced that it has booked 92% of its capacity for this season. If there was one hiccup in the earnings report, it’s that 2026 bookings are currently at 37%. That’s slightly below the 39% it had booked at this same time last year. New Ships Mean New Adventures Another highlight for the company was the announcement of its newest river ship, the Viking Thoth, which will be delivered in October. This is the latest addition to its Nile River fleet, which the company plans to expand to 12 ships by 2027. One ship, the Viking Libra, will be powered by hydrogen, meaning it will be capable of operating with zero emissions. The company expects to have the ship delivered in 2026. Plus, the company announced plans to take delivery of one ocean ship and nine more river vessels in 2025. More capacity along with favorable demand trends is a bullish sign for a company that posted an adjusted gross margin that was 23.8% higher YOY. A Trend Reversal Looks Favorable Although VIK stock has only been publicly traded for a year, it has shown several instances of making higher highs with higher lows. On the occasions when the stock has broken that pattern, it hasn’t been because of the company’s results but broader macroeconomic concerns that spooked investors. That’s why the price action after the company’s quarterly earnings report looks favorable. The stock dropped nearly 7% immediately after the report was released. However, in midday trading, Viking stock cut that loss nearly in half, and it may confirm support at a level around December 2024, along with its 10-day simple moving average (SMA). That said, the stock was overbought as it was heading into the earnings report. Investors may want to see a confirmed break above the May 19 close or if analysts raise their targets for the stock before adding to or taking a new position.
