  1. Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update Adds Two Unexpected Crossovers And Major Parkour Upgrades Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update Adds Two Unexpected Crossovers And Major Parkour Upgrades Assassin’s Creed Shadows update 1.0.5 is now live and, as detailed in the patch notes, brings major improvements to the game’s parkour as well as not one, but two, unexpected crossovers. The first crossover is with the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight. A free Dead by Daylight-inspired quest has been added to Assassin’s Creed Shadows that will see Naoe investigate a strange presence attacking the people of Harima. The patch notes state that players will need to “master unique mechanics and confront a formidable otherworldly threat” to complete the event, after which they will be rewarded with a free trinket and banner. Dead by Daylight cosmetics will also be available in the game’s store. You need a javascript enabled browser to watch videos. A Balatro-inspired trinket for Naoe and an amulet for Yasuke, both called “Winning Hand,” have been added via the update. The items sport a legendary perk that has a chance to trigger a random affliction effect on combo enders. Ubisoft, however, isn’t simply giving aways the new item. The patch notes state players will need to “work together to figure out how to get it” but doesn’t offer any other clues, so let the hunt begin. On the gameplay side of things, update 1.0.5 brings some welcome improvements to the Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ parkour. A new vertical jump option has been added, allowing players to jump up to nearby ledges or awnings without having to wall-run. Other additions include the option to make it so sprint no longer disengages when parkouring up or down, as well as enhanced distance and height for back and side ejects, making it easier for Naoe to keep to the rooftops. Aside from bug fixes, the other major additions via update 1.0.5 are new photo mode features (like the ability to change the time of day and toggle headgear on or off). Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ preorder quest, Thrown to the Dogs, is now also unlocked for all players, and revolves around helping a loyal canine companion avenge his master. Completing the quest unlocks the Tsuki-maru **** that can be placed in the game’s hideout. The full Assassin’s Creed Shadows patch notes are below. Patch 1.0.5 is just the latest addition to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with Ubisoft having already detailed what’s next for the open-world RPG as part of its Year 1 roadmap. An Assassin’s Creed Shadows update earlier this month added a new story pack, with updates planned for later this year set to introduce new game plus, additional free story content, and the Claws of Awaji expansion. Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.0.5 Patch Notes PATCH SIZES: PS5: ~3.31 GB XBS: ~19 GB MAC: ~9 GB PC: ~13 GB Steam: ~4.3 GB PATCH HIGHLIGHTS “Thrown to the Dogs” Quest Unlocked With this update, all players will receive access to the pre-order bonus quest, “Thrown to the Dogs”. Help a loyal dog avenge his late master and unlock Tsuki-maru as a **** to place in your Hideout. The quest is available in early game, once you have completed “From Spark to Flame”. It can be found at the Tennoji Temple, outside of Osaka. SPECIAL COLLABORATIONS Dead By Daylight Event We’re excited to unveil our first special collaboration with this new Dead by Daylight event coming to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. As villagers begin to disappear, Naoe becomes suspicious of the strange presence attacking the local people of Harima. To succeed, you will need to master unique mechanics and confront a formidable otherworldly threat… This event comes with a new free quest that you can access from the Hideout upon unlocking Yasuke as a playable character. Once the event is completed, you will obtain a free trinket and banner. You will also be able to further personalize your two characters with a Dead by Daylight-inspired pack in the store, featuring outfits, weapons, trinkets, and the chance to ride off into the shadows with none other than the loyal steed, Maurice. Balatro Trinket We are also adding a new trinket for Naoe, and an amulet for Yasuke called “Winning Hand” — directly inspired by Balatro. These new items come with a legendary perk that gives you a chance to trigger a random affliction effect on combo enders. Now… you will need to work together to figure out how to get it! PARKOUR IMPROVEMENTS The team has prepared a bunch of improvements to enhance the parkour mechanics. We want to give a big thank you to all our dedicated parkour players for their ongoing feedback since launch. Here are the main changes: New Vertical Jump We’re adding a brand-new parkour interaction allowing both Naoe and Yasuke to jump and grab any ledge, awnings or overhangs within reach, reducing the need to rely on vertical wall-runs. To trigger it, simply press the jump button as you approach low overhangs, and your character will make the jump. Sprint Toggle Lock As long as the directional inputs are maintained, sprint no longer disengages when using Parkour Up or Parkour Down. Enhanced Back and Side Ejects We’ve also enhanced the distance and height of side & back ejects, favoring foot landings over hand landings. This includes new animations for Naoe when performing height-gaining side ejects, extending her capacity to remain high-up during parkour. NEW PHOTO MODE FEATURES Photo Mode is receiving its biggest update for an Assassin’s Creed game, with the addition of new features to better customize your shots and make the most out of capturing the beauty of Feudal Japan. These include the following options: Change the time of day Play around with numerous poses and facial expressions Toggle headgear on/off Play music while editing your shots Sticker colorization New customization frames Save Custom Filters Reset only one parameter Tweak camera speed Improved preview mode Fullscreen (PC only) We hope you enjoy these new customization options! Don’t hesitate to share your new Photo Mode shots online using #ACPhotoMode for a chance to be featured on our social media channels (@AssassinsCreed). LIST OF BUG FIXES General Fixed the issue where players had a persistent New Item notification in their inventory. We did it! Addressed an issue where some players were given a new save file at level 60, with gear and all objectives uncovered. Fixed an issue where the desynchronization warning for ‘killing civilians’ would appear without any reason. Fixed an issue where romancing Lady Oichi before romancing Rin could cause a breakup. Fixed various localization issues. Balancing Fixed an issue where the Samurai Daisho and Ronin occasionally gave an extremely high amount of Mon regardless of their level, disincentivizing other methods of gaining Mon. We have also partially rebalanced the Mon economy to encourage more world exploration and gameplay activities to earn Crafting Materials and Hideout Resources instead of purchasing them through merchants. In pursuit of this, we’ve bumped up the cost of Crafting Materials and Hideout Resources sold by Merchants and lowered the quantity available each season for each Merchant. If you still want to purchase them, we’ve increased the amount of Mon acquired from completing contracts. World Fixed an issue where Yagoro would become trapped in a Kofun and not return to the hideout. Fixed an issue where players could remain stuck inside the construction site at Osaka Castle. Quests Fixed an issue where players could not exit the quest “Vision of Realms” if they selected ‘Quit to Memories’ and loaded their progress from the Animus Memories menu. Fixed an issue where quitting during the “Nobutsuna Sensei” quest caused Yasuke to become stuck in the flashback. Fixed an issue where Yaya doesn’t join “The League” after being successfully recruited. Fixed progress issues in the “Showdown in Sakamoto” quest that happened if Katsuhime previously died. Fixed an issue in the “Wake Up Call” quest where the “troublemaker” couldn’t be hunted down. Fixed an issue in the “Find Local Dishes” quest where Narezushi could not be obtained from merchants. Fixed an issue in the “Wolves and Foxes” quest where players were not able to speak with Hattori Hanzo. I guess we’ll let you talk to him now. Fixed an issue where players could not progress in “A Peculiar Guest”. Fixed an issue where players could not complete the “Missing Missive” quest due to being unable to retrieve the letter. Fixed an issue where the game would ****** during the “Temple of the Horseman (An Eye for an Eye)” quest. Fixed an issue in the “Diary of Lady Rokkaku” quest where Katsuhime’s letter would sometimes disappear. You got mail! Fixed an issue where the game incorrectly believed Katsuhime was dead and players could not complete the “Diary of Lady Rokkaku” quest. Fixed an issue where players could not complete the “Diary of Lady Rokkaku” quest due to Naoe and Katsuhime being attached to surrounding water. They just wanted to go on a little swim! Fixed an issue where players could not complete the “Diary of Lady Rokkaku” quest due to Katsuhime dropping into the water and swimming to shore. Stealth Fixed an issue where the Shinobi Bell effect was blocked by line of sight from NPCs. Combat Adjusted an issue where the +600% affliction buildup engravings was a text error. It now has been fixed to reflect the real build-up amount of 6%. Visuals & Graphics Fixed visual issues. Fixed some issues where the “Kaen” and “Sekiryu” mounts would not fully fit in the stables. Fixed a visual issue with the “Samurai Daimyo Armor”. Addressed an issue where players could sometimes see a giant NPC in towns. Hideout Improved stability for heavily customized Hideout. Fixed an issue where players could sometimes not interact with Gennojo in the Hideout. PLATFORM-SPECIFIC FIXES Xbox Addressed an issue where the gamertag would load indefinitely in the thumbnail of Photo Mode images on the World Map. Addressed Mouse and Keyboard input issues. Restored Balanced Performance Mode that was missing on Xbox Series X after Update 1.0.4. NOTE: Balanced Performance Mode requires having the proper setup with a 120, 144, 165 or 240 Hz monitor. 3. French Open 2025: Jack Draper beats Mattia Belluci for first Roland Garros win of his career French Open 2025: Jack Draper beats Mattia Belluci for first Roland Garros win of his career Draper’s trips to Roland Garros have been memorable for the wrong reasons. The left-hander retired during his main-draw debut two years ago and lamented being known as “the guy who is injured a lot”, before struggling with his serve in a ********** defeat against 176th-ranked Jesper de Jong last year. This year, he has returned as different proposition – and with a point to prove. Over the past 12 months, Draper has enjoyed a steep rise and achieved a series of notable career landmarks. He has moved into the world’s top five after reaching his first Grand Slam semi-final at last year’s US Open, winning ATP titles on grass and hard courts, as well as reaching his first clay-court final in Madrid last month. Observers with a deep understanding of the game have long insisted Draper has the ability to perform well on the red dirt, with British former world number four Tim Henman telling BBC Sport recently his best attributes – his left-handed serve and crunching forehand – could “work on any surface”. Once he got going against Bellucci, Draper proved that again. The first serve became increasingly dominant – climbing from 58% of points won with the opening shot in the first set to 91% in the second – while the volume of forehand winners also increased. The venom of this shot was too hot for Bellucci to handle – and wowed the Paris crowd, who regularly gasped at Draper’s power and accuracy. Another forehand zinger on his first match point clinched victory and a second-round meeting with either France’s Gael Monfils or Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien on Thursday. 4. This law enforcement stock is forming a ‘bull flag’ pattern that signals more gains ahead, charts show This law enforcement stock is forming a ‘bull flag’ pattern that signals more gains ahead, charts show When looking at the future of law enforcement envisioned by Axon Enterprise CEO Rick Smith, I can’t help but think of the 1993 Sylvester Stallone movie “Demolition Man.” In that movie, they portray a more civilized society where police utilize non-lethal AI-like systems and surveillance-driven technologies to maintain order. The movie portrays violent, lethal manners of containment as a crude relic of the past. Granted ,many personal freedoms are encroached in that movie and that’s where the comparison ends. But AXON is designing a more balanced, ethical and technology-driven approach to law enforcement. We own AXON in our Tactical Alpha Growth and Active Opps portfolio at Inside Edge Capital and will be looking to increase our size in AXON. The company, formerly Taser International, has offerings in non-lethal weaponry, vehicle surveillance, systems to improve police force productivity, decision support and real-time operations utilizing artificial intelligence — as well as drone technology that act as first responders. To make one more fundamental case of how AXON can improve productivity, the company claims police officers spend 40% of their time on paperwork. Axon has solutions to utilize AI so officers can spend more time in the field and less time behind a desk. AXON recently broke out on the weekly chart from the $700-$720 resistance zone that should now be considered support. Provided the stock does not break back below $690, I see a potential move towards the upper end of the dashed parallel channel into the $900’s. Looking at the annual revenue and EPS figures below the chart, revenues have been growing steadily, but you’ll see a “shocking” (bad joke, I know) 2025 EPS drop of 75.21%. Those 2025 projected EPS numbers of $1.19 are GAAP earnings. The expected non-GAAP earnings for all of 2025 are $6.11 compared to $5.94 for 2024. Looking ahead to 2026, expected non-GAAP earnings are 7.50 for a 22.7% growth rate. As shown on the chart, 2026 GAAP earnings are expected to grow by 116.39% to $2.58 in EPS. The discrepancy between GAAP and non-GAAP comes from the company CEO Smith’s policy of aggressive long-term compensation plan tied to performance goals. The company issues aggressive equity-based incentives to employees to attempt to hit those goals. Another reason for the discrepancy, according to company reports, is — when Axon acquires another company, intangible assets like software or patents are amortized in GAAP but are excluded from non-GAAP. Moving down to the daily chart we see AXON has carved out a “bull flag” consolidation pattern above the newly formed support zone and today we are extending higher. The 50-day average volume for AXON is 609,000 shares, so to help confirm the breakout I would like to see a few days on which volume exceeds 700,000 shares. In our Active Opps portfolio we hold a 4.02% allocation. After publishing this article I’m looking to increase the holding to approximately 5%-6% of the portfolio. In our slightly less aggressive but still growth-oriented model Tactical Alpha Growth, we hold a 1% allocation established on Aug. 28 that we’re also looking to increase. If you look back to that time frame, you’ll see a similar bull flag technical pattern (red arrow) that set up the breakout into the $400’s. AXON is not trying to create a utopian overreach society like Demolition Man, but I think it is trying to take the best parts of non-lethal policing, officer accountability and efficiency, deterrent systems, all utilizing AI technologies. This name likely remains in our portfolios for the foreseeable future. -Todd Gordon, Founder of Inside Edge Capital, LLC We offer active portfolio management and regular subscriber updates like the idea presented above. 5. Spurs star trio back Postecoglou amid job speculation Spurs star trio back Postecoglou amid job speculation James Maddison has thrown his weight behind “winner” Ange Postecoglou as speculation over the Tottenham boss’ future continues. The 28-year-old midfielder backed his head coach after seeing his qualities at close hand as he inspired his side to Europa League glory courtesy of a 1-0 final victory over Premier League rivals Manchester United in Bilbao. Speaking at his invitational charity golf event, Maddison told Sky Sports: “He’s a man who’s always had success. His biggest strength is his self-belief in what he does and that feeds off on to us and that’s been installed into us in Europe this year. “In all the away games and even in all the ones early in the group stages and the round of 16 – we had a really bad performance away at AZ Alkmaar, and he went heavy on us because you just know he’s a winner, and then we turned it around second leg and we’re in the quarters. “Every step, we got closer and closer and we believed more and more and now we’re winners and no one can ever take that away from him.” Maddison added: “He’s been brilliant. Even at the start of the season saying, ‘I don’t usually win things, I always win things’, it’s one of them. “We knew that would create a big uproar in the media with you lot never shutting up about it. Never once did I stop believing that he meant that.” Postecoglou admitted he has found it “weird” that he was under pressure after ending the club’s 17-year wait for a trophy, although a 17th-placed league finish prompted questions, despite his admission that he turned his focus to Europe as the campaign progressed. However, he also received support from midfielders Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray at the same event. Asked if he wanted him to stay, Bergvall said: “A 100 per cent, I think he’s done a great job. “It’s not been easy for any of us, especially because of all the injuries, but as he said, he always wins things in his second year and that’s true.” Gray was equally unequivocal when asked if Postecoglou deserved another season at the helm. He said: “Yes, definitely. It’s been a great season this year and it’s been a rollercoaster of a season as well, not just at the end. “We’ve obviously had some really tough times and we stuck together. He’s big on things like family and I think the main thing that helped us get to the final and win the final is our morals of what we’re like as a team. “Family is our main thing. We believe in each other and it’s like brothers going out there on the pitch in the final and we just fought for each other.” Source link #Spurs #star #trio #Postecoglou #job #speculation Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  7. Trump’s tariff revenue has already topped $22 billion in May Trump’s tariff revenue has already topped $22 billion in May President Trump’s tariffs continued to be felt by importers in May with a measure of government receipts for “Customs and Certain Excise Taxes” already topping $22.3 billion this month, according to Treasury Department data. The monthly total is likely to rise only slightly in the coming days, with importers often depositing their tariff duties largely in a single day. A massive deposit of more than $16.5 billion appeared in government coffers on May 22. May’s total so far has already topped April’s full-month haul of $17.4 billion — not to mention March’s haul of $9.6 billion. It was a continuation of revenue spikes seen during Trump’s second term in office, which dwarfed recent history and Trump’s first term. All told, more than $92 billion has flowed into government coffers since Jan. 1. May’s surge in revenue came as many of Trump’s duties were only felt for an entire month after his biggest tariffs — 10% duties on nearly every country in the world — took effect on April 5. The haul also came after other new concessions from Trump this month that saw a slashing of tariffs on China and a limited lowering of duties on the ***. Trump added Tuesday in a social media post that more duties could be coming, saying of his decision to delay 50% tariffs on Europe for now, “Remember, I am empowered to ‘SET A DEAL’ for Trade into the United States if we are unable to make a deal.” Read more: What Trump’s tariffs mean for the economy and your wallet The president is also threatening new tariffs in the weeks and months ahead, including new sector-specific tariffs to be announced on items such as semiconductors and pharmaceuticals and possible tariffs aimed at companies like Apple (AAPL) and Samsung (005930.KS). The data is significant but could be slightly overstated, with the Treasury Department reporting both customs duties and certain excise taxes as a single category from the Department of Homeland Security. Excise taxes are different from customs duties. More precise data for only customs duties is expected to be available in a few weeks. But customs duties have historically made up the lion’s share of the combined figure. President Trump at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on Memorial Day. (Saul Loeb/AFP via Getty Images) · SAUL LOEB via Getty Images Trump himself has regularly touted the surge of government tariff receipts, suggesting the US government is on its way to a repeat of an era in US history that ended more than a century ago when tariffs made up a significant portion of government revenues. “We’re going to make a lot of money [from tariffs] and that money’s going to be used to reduce taxes,” Trump said on April 23. “We’re going to get big, big tax breaks.” Story Continues Source link #Trumps #tariff #revenue #topped #billion Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  8. Stablecoin issuer Circle kicks off its IPO, targeting a nearly $6 billion valuation Stablecoin issuer Circle kicks off its IPO, targeting a nearly $6 billion valuation Launched in 2018 by crypto firm Circle, USDC is now the second-biggest stablecoin globally, with more than $30 billion worth of tokens in circulation. Nurphoto | Getty Images Circle, the issuer of the popular USDC stablecoin, has begun its long-awaited initial public offering process, looking to raise about $624 million at a valuation around $6 billion. The company, led by CEO Jeremy Allaire, said Thursday in a filing that it plans to sell 24 million shares of Class A common stock in total – 9.6 million to be sold by the company and another another 14.4 million by existing shareholders – at an expected price range of $24 to $26 apiece, valuing the company at around $5.65 billion. It would have a valuation of about $6.7 billion when including outstanding options and other stock, according to Reuters. Cathie Wood’s ARK Investment Management has indicated interest in purchasing up to $150 million of the shares, per the filing. Circle also said it will grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 3.6 million additional shares. Shares will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CRCL. Circle’s IPO prospectus was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission at the beginning of April. Circle’s USD Coin (USDC) has roughly $62 billion in circulation and makes up about 27% of the total market cap for stablecoins, behind Tether’s 67% dominance, according to CryptoQuant. Its market cap has grown 40% this year, however, compared with Tether’s 10% growth. The stablecoin sector specifically has been ramping up as the industry gains confidence that the crypto market will get its first piece of U.S. legislation passed and implemented this year, focusing on stablecoins. Last week, the Senate voted to advance the first crypto legislation, which would create a regulatory framework for stablecoins. Trump has said he wants to see crypto regulation on his desk and ready to sign by August before Congress goes into recess. Circle’s IPO could have investment implications for Coinbase, a cofounder of USDC and major distribution vehicle for the stablecoin. The crypto services company and exchange has a 50% revenue sharing agreement with Circle and also makes 100% of the interest earned by USDC products on the Coinbase platform. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has said Coinbase has a “stretch goal” to make USDC the number 1 stablecoin in the world. Historically, stablecoins have been used primarily for trading and as collateral in decentralized finance (DeFi), and crypto investors watch them closely for evidence of demand, liquidity and activity in the market. More recently, their ability to move dollars quickly and cheaply across borders has become more popular with banks and fintech companies. Additionally, rhetoric around their ability to help preserve U.S. dollar dominance – by exporting dollar utility internationally and ensuring demand for U.S. government debt, which backs nearly all dollar-denominated stablecoins – has grown louder. This story has been updated with further detail on Circle’s valuation. —CNBC’s Nick Wells contributed reporting Don’t miss these cryptocurrency insights from CNBC Pro: Source link #Stablecoin #issuer #Circle #kicks #IPO #targeting #billion #valuation Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

The billionaire wrote in a post to his social media platform X that he needs to be “super focused” on X, artificial intelligence company xAI and Tesla as they launch “critical technologies” on the heels of a temporary outage. “As evidenced by the uptime issues this week, major operational improvements need to be made,” he wrote, adding that he would return to “spending 24/7” at work. “The failover redundancy should have worked, but did not.” An outage over the weekend briefly shuttered the social media platform formerly known as Twitter for thousands of users, according to DownDetector. Earlier in the week, the platform suffered a data center outage. X has suffered a series of outages since Musk purchased the platform in 2022. Musk has previously indicated plans to step away from his political work and prioritize his businesses. During Tesla’s April earnings call he said that he would “significantly” reduce his time running President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency. In the last election cycle, Musk devoted time and billions of dollars to political causes and toward electing Trump in 2024. However, a story over the weekend from the Washington Post, citing sources familiar with the matter, said that Musk has grown disillusioned with politics and wants to return to managing his businesses. Last week, Musk said in an interview at the Qatar Economic Forum that he planned to spend “a lot less” on campaign donations going forward. The comments from Musk precede SpaceX’s Starship rocket Tuesday evening. Pressure is on for the company after two Starship rockets exploded in January and March. Ahead of the launch, Musk announced he would host an all hands livestream on X at 1 p.m. EDT. He later posted that the stream was postponed until after the Starship Flight 9 launch. Tesla is still facing fallout from Musk’s political foray, with protests at showrooms and other brand damage. In April, Tesla sold 7,261 cars in Europe, down 49% from last year, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association. 10. B650 chipset allegedly on the way out — ******** forum declares stock to dry up by Q3 2025 B650 chipset allegedly on the way out — ******** forum declares stock to dry up by Q3 2025 AMD has halted production on its B650 chipset, according to ******** tech forum Bobantang. The B650 has been the midrange chipset for the AM5 socket since its introduction in 2022 and has been one of the most popular options for PC users upgrading to AM5 processors. In the original forum post (accessed via ITHome), the author claims that AMD has begun the shutdown stage of B650 production, and has informed its board partners of the change. While mass production has ended, supply of the chipset and motherboards using it is expected to remain high beyond this production halt. (Image credit: Bobantang) Via machine translation, the post reads in English: You may like “AMD’s B650 chipset production line has announced the shutdown, and has officially entered the digestion stage of tail stock, until the digestion of AMD and various motherboard manufacturers’ stocks is closed, but it is necessary to pay attention to the following two major trends of the B650 series chips: 1. After AMD’s B650 chip production line is shut down, its inventory is expected to be large. According to AMD, the B650M series inventory sales plan will probably end in the third quarter. 2. It is expected that the digestion time of the tail stock of the B650 series motherboard will be longer, at least there will be inventory to sell in the second quarter, but the inventory of B650M chips will become more and more scarce as time goes by.” The last waves of B650 and B650M motherboards from AMD’s partners are likely to arrive around the Q2/Q3 mark supposedly set by AMD. Bobantang, the forum originating this claim, has been correct about previous leaks regarding product discontinuation, including Nvidia’s discontinuation of the RTX 3060 back in August. Get Tom’s Hardware’s best news and in-depth reviews, straight to your inbox. The AM5 platform utilizes a multi-chiplet-style solution for its chipsets, using one ASMedia PROM21 chip to power its B650, B650E, B850, and X870 chipsets, and daisy-chaining two PROM21’s together for the flagship X670, X670E, and X870E chipsets. The discontinuation of the B650’s production surely does not mean anything about the fate of the rest of the PROM21-based AM5 chipsets, with the move more likely indicating a push from AMD to shift more fully towards its 800-generation chipsets. If this is true, expect to see a corollary decline in stock of B650E boards as well. With the B850 expected to become the de facto budget/midrange chipset for AM5 chips, we also hope to see a long-awaited decline in price of the 800-series, and resultingly, a more accessible path to PCIe Gen5 for both storage devices and GPUs. With the current budget-branded B850 boards selling for above $200, a widespread discount would be greatly appreciated. The B650 chipset was a hugely popular release, representing a sweeping majority of the most popular AM5 motherboards on PCPartPicker and other similar aggregators. As PC users and enjoyers, it’s certainly the end of some kind of micro-era, as AM5 continues its long march forward into Zen 6. 13. Hundreds of lawyers call for *** sanctions on Israel over Gaza war Hundreds of lawyers call for *** sanctions on Israel over Gaza war Frances Mao & Natasha Preskey BBC News Getty Images Aftermath of an Israeli strike at Fahmi Al-Jarjawi School in Gaza City on 26 May Hundreds of lawyers have called on the *** government to use “all available means” to stop the fighting in Gaza, including reviewing trade ties with Israel and imposing sanctions and travel bans on Israeli ministers. Some 828 ***-based or qualified legal experts, among them former Supreme Court justices, signed a letter to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on Monday. They warned “genocide is being perpetrated in Gaza” from Israel’s blockade of food and aid and its new military offensive, which has killed hundreds of Palestinians there in the past fortnight. Israel has strongly denied genocide allegations, claims which are also being examined by the International Court of Justice. The lawyers’ letter comes amid a wave of increased criticism from Israel’s Western allies, condemning its latest military offensive, which began in mid-May, and the impact of its blockade. The blockade was in full effect for 11 weeks from 2 March. Last week, the ***, France and Canada issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s “egregious” expansion of military operations in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the British, French and ********* leaders of “siding with ******”, saying the offensive is aimed at freeing the remaining 58 hostages held by the group. But *** Foreign Secretary David Lammy called the escalation “morally unjustifiable”. The *** last week suspended trade deal talks, summoned Israel’s ambassador and imposed fresh sanctions on West Bank settlers. Netanyahu has declared Israel’s intention to take over the Gaza Strip and displace residents from the north to the south. The operation has seen about a 100 Gazans killed per day in strikes in its first week, according to the territory’s ******-run rescue authorities and health ministry. On Monday, the group of legal experts said in a detailed 36-page letter that Israel’s May offensive was “a grave violation” of international law, and also violated the ************ people’s legal right to self-determination. The group of lawyers, legal experts and retired judges expressed their “deep concern over the worsening catastrophe” in Gaza and the occupied West Bank where violations of international law were “being committed and are further threatened” by Israel. “First, genocide is being perpetrated in Gaza or, at a minimum, there is a serious risk of genocide occurring,” the legal experts wrote. They said this had been caused by Israel’s blockade – and the trickle of aid now being allowed in was “gravely insufficient.” They said the *** and all countries were legally obliged to “prevent and punish genocide”. “The ***’s actions to date have failed to meet those standards”, they said, but they welcomed the “indication” of stronger action in last week’s statement. The *** must immediately impose financial and immigration sanctions on Israeli ministers suspected of “unlawful conduct”, to help secure a ceasefire, the lawyers wrote. The letter also called for the *** to review existing trade ties with Israel, impose trade sanctions on the country and also suspend the ***’s “2030 Roadmap” with Israel – an agreement between the *** and Israel on defence, technology and science, culture, the arts and other areas. They called on the government to ensure it would adhere to its obligations as a member of the International Criminal Court to act on arrest warrants issued by the court. Netanyahu is currently wanted by the court for alleged war crimes in Gaza and breaches of international law, charges he emphatically denies. The letter is the group’s latest since the war began in October 2023. Its first missive was issued weeks into the conflict, where it raised concerns about the *** government selling arms to Israel. The legality of the ***’s decisions concerning arms sales is now being examined by the High Court of England and Wales. Israel launched a military campaign to destroy ****** in response to an unprecedented cross-border attack on 7 October 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage. At least 54,056 people have been killed in Gaza since then, including 3,901 since Israel resumed its offensive on 18 March following a two-month ceasefire, according to the territory’s ******-run health ministry. On Tuesday, Germany and Finland also spoke out, saying Israel must allow humanitarian aid into Gaza immediately. “We must put pressure on Israel to ensure the aid truly reaches its target,” ******* Chancellor Friedrich Merz told reporters alongside Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo in Finland. “But it is also crucial that ****** must not prevent humanitarian aid from arriving.” Merz, who has strongly criticised Israel in recent days, said events in Gaza were “in no way acceptable”. He described the effect on Gazan civilians as “excessive” and called for an end to the killing and suffering. “This is a terrible human catastrophe and we must be able to tackle it,” Orpo added. Sweden on Tuesday also summoned the Israeli ambassador to its foreign ministry, and called on the country to “immediately ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza”. The Swedish foreign ministry said in a statement that Israel had a right to defend itself but “the current way the war is waged is unacceptable”. 15. Texas poised to enforce age verification on Apple, Google app stores Texas poised to enforce age verification on Apple, Google app stores STORY: Texas is poised to pass a bill that would require Apple and Alphabet’s Google to verify the ages of their app store users. The pending legislation puts the second most populous state at the center of a debate over whether and how to regulate the use of smartphones by children and teenagers. The bill, currently awaiting Governor Greg Abbott’s signature, would require parental consent for those under 18 to download apps or make in-app purchases. Apple and Google, owners of the two largest app stores, oppose the legislation, saying it imposes blanket requirements to share age data with all apps, even when those apps are not controversial. They have proposed sharing age range data only with apps that require it. How to implement age restrictions has caused a conflict between the two companies and Meta, the owner of Instagram and Facebook. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said last year during a Senate hearing that parents shouldn’t have to (quote) “upload an ID or proof they are a parent in every single app that their children use,” adding that “the easier place to do this is in the app stores themselves.” Meta declined to comment for this story. Utah was the first state to pass a similar law earlier this year, and U.S. lawmakers have also introduced a federal bill that would require app stores to verify the ages of users nationwide. 18. Wisconsin Supreme Court suspends judge who left court to arrest a hospitalized defendant Wisconsin Supreme Court suspends judge who left court to arrest a hospitalized defendant MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court suspended a Dane County judge for a week Tuesday for leaving court to try to arrest a hospitalized defendant herself and getting into a sarcastic exchange with another defendant seeking a trial delay. The court agreed with a judicial conduct review panel’s suspension recommendation for Ellen Berz, finding that she deserved more than a reprimand because she behaved impulsively and showed a lack of restraint. The suspension will begin June 26, the court ordered. “We believe that the recommended seven-day suspension is of sufficient length to impress upon Judge Berz the necessity of patience, impartiality, and restraint in her work, and to demonstrate to the public the judiciary’s dedication to promoting professionalism among its members,” the justices wrote in the suspension order. Justice Jill Karofsky, herself a former Dane County judge, did not participate in the case. The suspension order noted that Berz has acknowledged the facts of the case and has accepted full responsibility. Andrew Rima, one of two attorneys for Berz listed in online court records, declined to comment. Her other attorney, Steven Caya, didn’t immediately respond to an email. Berz is the second Wisconsin judge that the state Supreme Court has suspended in the last five weeks. The justices suspended Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan indefinitely on April 29 after federal prosecutors accused her of helping a man evade U.S. immigration agents by showing him out a back door in her courtroom. A federal grand jury has indicted Dugan on one count of obstruction and one count of concealing a person to prevent arrest. She has pleaded not guilty and is set to stand trial in July. The Wisconsin Judicial Commission filed a misconduct complaint against Berz, the Dane County judge, in October accusing her of failing to promote public confidence in judicial impartiality, failing to treat people unprofessionally, and failing to performing her duties without bias. According to the complaint, Berz was presiding over an operating-while-intoxicated case in December 2021. The defendant didn’t show up in court on the day the trial was set to begin. His attorney told Berz that the defendant had been admitted to a hospital. Berz had a staff member investigate and learned that he was in a Sun Prairie emergency room. The judge ordered her bailiff to go arrest him, but was told the bailiff couldn’t leave the courthouse. She declared that she would retrieve the defendant herself, and if something happened to her, people would hear about it on the news, according to the complaint. She then left court and began driving to the emergency room with the defendant’s attorney in the passenger seat, the complaint says. No prosecutor was present in the vehicle. She eventually turned around after the defense attorney warned her that traveling to the hospital was a bad idea because she was supposed to be the neutral decision-maker in the case, according to the complaint. She went back into court and issued a warrant for the defendant’s arrest. The complaint also alleges she told a defendant in a child ******* assault case who had asked to delay his trial for a second time that he was playing games and should “go to the prison and talk to them about all the games you can play.” When the defendant said her sarcasm was clear, she told him: “Good. I thought it would be. Coco forgetting her racquets was Aussie’s ‘only chance’ Coco forgetting her racquets was Aussie’s ‘only chance’ Coco Gauff caused guffaws all round on Court Philippe Chatrier when she arrived on the biggest stage at Roland Garros having forgotten her racquets. Alas, for Aussie Olivia Gadecki, the second best player in the world then got somebody to go and find them… “It seems like that was the only way I was gonna win the match now that I think about it!” smiled Gadecki a couple of hours later after being schooled 6-2 6-2 by Coco’s brilliance. The 23-year-old Gold Coast hopeful was a good sport about the comical start to her big day on Chatrier, enjoying a laugh with former finalist Gauff about the “funny little incident”. The 2023 US Open champion had been left with a sheepish grin when she realised her error, opening her bag and finding nothing inside. “They were supposed to be in my bag,” she told the chair umpire before a ball boy was dispatched to find the weapons. “When I opened the first zipper. I was like, ‘OK, no racquets.’ The second zipper, I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ Naturally, she blamed her coach, Jean-Christophe Faurel. “Honestly, as long as I’ve been on tour, my coach has always put the racquets in the bag before the match because he’s very superstitious,” she laughed. “I’m blaming it on him! It’s okay.” Reunited with her friends, she then conquered the windy conditions and proved far too strong for the *********** No.5, who’s 89 places behind her in the world rankings. Still, Gadecki, who played on the Rod Laver Arena during the *********** Open, enjoyed the whole experience. “It was great to play Coco on such a big court. I went in there thinking I could do some damage. But she’s two in the world for a reason, and I just didn’t have my A game today, and it showed. “But I’d say the main feeling is just an immense amount of pride, like I’m very proud of myself for sticking by myself and keeping my head down and just trying to stay in there.” Source link #Coco #forgetting #racquets #Aussies #chance Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  21. Home prices are still rising, but at a slower rate: What to know Home prices are still rising, but at a slower rate: What to know 00:00:00 Brad Smith Home prices are at historic highs and the latest read from the S&P Case-Shiller National Home Price Index shows that potential buyers have had a tough road ahead here. Here to break down the report, we’ve got Yahoo Finance senior housing reporter Claire Boston. Claire, what is the latest movement on home prices right now? 00:00:25 Claire Boston Hi Brad. So in March, we saw a 3.4% annual gain nationally, compared to a year earlier. And that is actually down a little bit from a 4% gain in February. So we’re still seeing that home prices are still rising, but that rate of growth is slowing a little bit. And this 3.4% number was a little bit of a ******* deceleration than economists were expecting. One other thing I’m looking at right now is that month over month, prices actually fell a little bit, just 0.3% down nationally. But that’s another sign here that the market is slowing a bit even though things are still very, very expensive. 00:01:21 Brad Smith Do you think this is going to impact the spring and summer home buying season, which I guess we’re kind of in the unofficial start of summer as of right now. 00:01:38 Claire Boston Yeah, so this data is from March. And so if you remember back in March, we had not yet had that tariff surprise. Um, we do have a little bit more data about what spring home buying is looking like. And a lot of signs point to a pretty slowing market. So potentially, in the months ahead, we may continue to see that deceleration, you know, maybe a little bit even of a price move down month over month. 00:02:15 Brad Smith Some more data here. Zillow and Redfin, they both expect home values to decline by about 1% this year. Are buyers better off waiting? 00:02:34 Claire Boston You know, it is really hard to tell. Um, you know, something I talk about all the time is how regional the housing market is. Um, and you know, when you’re looking at this Case-Shiller data, places like New York, home prices are up 8%. Chicago is up more than close to 6%. Uh, but then you look at a place like Tampa and prices are down. So it really depends on where you are and what your market is doing. And um, you know, it it just it’s hard to tell right now. It’s a weird market. 00:03:17 Brad Smith Claire, thanks so much. Appreciate it. 00:03:21 Claire Boston Thank you. 22. Walmart fined for shipping toy guns to New York Walmart fined for shipping toy guns to New York New York Attorney General Letitia James holds a press conference following a ruling against former U.S. President Donald Trump ordering him to pay $354.9 million and barring him from doing business in New York State for three years, in the Manhattan borough of New York City, U.S., February 16, 2024. David Dee Delgado | Reuters Walmart agreed to pay a small fine and promised to ensure its third-party resellers are unable to sell realistic looking toy guns to buyers in New York, after state Attorney General Letitia James said Tuesday that the retail giant’s online store shipped them to the state. The settlement comes nearly a decade after Walmart, Amazon, Sears and other retailers entered into a consent order and judgment with New York’s previous attorney general, in which they agreed to keep toy guns that resemble actual deadly weapons off their shelves statewide and they paid civil penalties that topped $300,000. The 2015 order was part of a nationwide reckoning over realistic looking toy guns in the wake of the fatal shooting of Tamir Rice, a 12 year-old Cleveland boy who was killed by police in November 2014 while holding a pellet gun. The New York law bans retailers from selling or shipping toy guns of certain colors — ******, dark blue, silver, or aluminum — that look like real weapons. Realistic-looking toy gun shipped by Walmart to New York. Source: New York Attorney General’s Office Toy guns sold in the state must be “made in bright colors or made entirely of transparent or translucent materials,” with businesses subject to a fine of $1,000 per violation, according to James’ office. James said on Tuesday that an investigation by her office found that Walmart’s online store had shipped at least nine realistic looking toy guns sold by third-party sellers to New York City, Westchester County and Western New York. Read more CNBC politics coverage But the investigation also found that between March 2020 and November 2023, at least 46 imitation weapons that violate New York state law were purchased by consumers in the state through the Walmart.com platform, the settlement revealed. “Realistic-looking toy guns can put communities in serious danger and that is why they are banned in New York,” James said in a statement. “Walmart failed to prevent its third-party sellers from selling realistic-looking toy guns to New York addresses, violating our laws and putting people at risk,” she said. “The ban on realistic-looking toy guns is meant to keep New Yorkers safe and my office will not hesitate to hold any business that violates that law accountable.” Walmart must pay $14,000 in penalties and $2,000 in fees under the settlement, the AG’s office said. CNBC has requested comment from Walmart, which neither admitted nor denied the findings by James’ office in its investigation. As part of the settlement, Walmart is required to prohibit third parties from offering for ***** or selling any of the imitation guns covered by the state law to buyers in New York. “Walmart shall terminate the ability of a third party from being able to list and sell toy guns and imitation weapons on Walmart.com when it has determined that a third party has engaged in conduct” that violates that restriction on three separate occasions, the settlement said. And “Walmart shall implement and maintain policies and procedures reasonably designed to prevent such third parties from offering for *****, exposing for *****, or selling Prohibited Items on Walmart.com for importation, holding for *****, or distribution to New York,” the settlement says. 25. Want A ****** Bandicoot Movie? Ask Xbox, The Last Of Us Boss Says Want A ****** Bandicoot Movie? Ask Xbox, The Last Of Us Boss Says The Last of Us boss Neil Druckmann has spoken up to say he would sign a petition to make a ****** Bandicoot movie, but that’s all he can do since his company, Naughty Dog, does not own the franchise. While Naughty Dog created the ****** series, which debuted in 1996, the series is now owned by Microsoft following its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Druckmann told Indie Wire that Naughty Dog never owned the ****** series, and any possible ****** movie would need Microsoft’s approval. “I will direct your question to Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. Ask him to make a ****** Bandicoot film,” he said. “Look, I’ll sign that petition. I’m in full support.” There has never been a ****** movie, but given the surge in popularity of video game properties these days in Hollywood, some are speculating that it could happen. That remains to be seen, but Spencer himself has said it wants to make more TV shows and movies based on its stable of franchises. “We learned from doing Halo. We learned from doing Fallout. So all of these build on themselves,” he said. “And obviously we’ll have a couple that miss. But what I’d say to the Xbox community that likes this work is, ‘You’re going to see more, because we’re gaining confidence and we’re learning through this.'” The ****** video game series has seen a semi-revival of late, but a potential ****** Bandicoot 5 is not happening, at least not yet. While a ****** movie may never happen, Microsoft is bringing back Fallout for its second season later this year, while Netflix is producing a Gears of War movie and TV show. Then there’s a second Minecraft movie, which is all but confirmed to get a sequel. As for what Druckmann is working on, he’s directing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and also working on a second game at Naughty Dog.
