  1. GameStop Just Bought Half A Billion Worth Of Bitcoin GameStop Just Bought Half A Billion Worth Of Bitcoin Video game retailer GameStop is a big believer in Bitcoin. The Grapevine, Texas-based company disclosed today, May 28, that it had purchased 4,710 Bitcoin. At the current trading rates, that’s worth more than $510 million USD. Bitcoin is one of the world’s most valuable, and volatile, assets. It’s currently worth more than $2 trillion overall, which is ahead of the total market cap of Google’s parent company Alphabet. The current price for one Bitcoin is about $108,000. GameStop’s press release announcing the purchase of Bitcoin is a single sentence long, and there is no word on why GameStop did this or what its plans are. The announcement was not a surprise, though, as CNBC reported in February that GameStop was planning to buy cryptocurrencies. On May 27, US President Donald Trump reiterated his desire to create a “Bitcoin treasury.” In any event, GameStop’s share price is up around 10% so far in 2025 and up more than 3,000% since the short-squeeze situation of 2021. GameStop had cash reserves of more than $4.5 billion as of February 2025, according to the company’s latest filings. Buying Bitcoin is GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen’s latest strategy to help the struggling company turn things around; other measures have included layoffs, store closures, and selling Game Informer. Cohen has the power to do this in part because GameStop’s board voted in December 2023 to allow Cohen and two other board members to use GameStop’s cash pile to purchase securities as part of a new “investment policy.” GameStop previously invested in NFTs and created its own cryptocurrency wallet, but the company shuttered this in January 2024. 2. French surgeon jailed for abusing hundreds of children French surgeon jailed for abusing hundreds of children A French court has found a retired surgeon guilty of ********* abusing hundreds of patients, many of them children, in a trial that has shaken France. Joel Le Scouarnec’s abuse of his patients is considered France’s worst case of pedo-criminality to go to trial. He stood accused of aggravated ***** or ******* assault against 299 victims. Le Scouarnec had told the court he committed “despicable acts” over a 25-year ******* whilst he worked as doctor in western France, in a trial that has raised uncomfortable questions for the publicly-run healthcare system. Le Scouarnec, 74, was sentenced to 20 years in jail. Presiding Judge Aude Buresi, whose voice at times appeared to choke with emotion, said Le Scouarnec had preyed on victims when they were at their most vulnerable, including whilst under anaesthesia. “Your acts were a blind spot in the medical world, to the extent that your colleagues, the medical authorities, were incapable of stopping your actions,” the judge told Le Scouarnec. The court ordered Le Scouarnec be placed on the sex offenders register. The judge also barred Le Scouarnec from practising medicine or having contact with minors. During the trial, Le Scouarnec told the court that he was aware that the harm he had caused was irreparable. “I owe it to all these people and their loved ones to admit my actions and their consequences, which they’ve endured and will keep having to endure all their lives,” he added. The judge said she understood many victims hoped Le Scouarnec would never walk out of jail, but that the law did not allow her to impose a life sentence. The trial took place at a time of reckoning around sex crimes in France after the conviction of Dominique Pelicot, who was found guilty in December of drugging his wife unconscious and inviting dozens of men to their home to ***** her. Le Scouarnec is already serving jail time for earlier ***** convictions. In 2020, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the ***** and ******* assault of a child neighbour, as well as his two nieces and a four-year-old patient. Victims and their families have publicly asked why local and national health authorities failed to stop Le Scouarnec. In 2005, he was convicted of downloading images of child ******* abuse and received a suspended jail sentence, but managed to continue working in public hospitals. Several dozen victims and rights campaigners gathered outside the courthouse ahead of the verdict, holding a banner made of hundreds of pieces of white paper with ****** silhouettes, one for each victim. Some of the papers bore a first name and age, while others referred to the victim as “Anonymous.” The extent of Le Scouarnec’s abuse was revealed after his re-arrest in 2017 on suspicion of raping his six-year-old neighbour. Police discovered electronic diaries that appeared to detail more than two decades of rapes and ******* assaults on young patients in hospitals across the region, as well as a cache of sex dolls, wigs and child ************. The trial took place in Vannes, a small town in Brittany. The local prosecutor, whose office led the investigation into Le Scouarnec, has opened a separate investigation to ascertain if there was any criminal liability by agencies or individuals who could have prevented the abuse. 4. Nothing Phone 3 Design Officially Teased; Appears With Textured Button Nothing Phone 3 Design Officially Teased; Appears With Textured Button Nothing Phone 3 is scheduled to be introduced in global markets and India, in July this year. The exact launch date has yet to be announced. The Carl Pei-led ***-based OEM claims that the upcoming handset will be the company’s first “true flagship.” Pei had also previously teased the price of the smartphone. The handset is expected to retain the proprietary Glyph Interface, like the preceding Nothing Phone 2 and Phone 1 handsets. Nothing has now shared a design teaser of the Phone 3. Nothing Phone 3 Design Teased A teaser for the Nothing Phone 3 design has been shared by the company in an X post. We see a portion of the back panel, which appears in a dual-tone finish, similar to the Orange and White options of the CMF Phone 2 Pro, which was unveiled by the Nothing sub-brand in India in April. In the teaser, we also see a textured area with a button-like feature. It is unclear if the button will be functional on the Nothing Phone 3, or if it will even be a button. The texture is reminiscent of the Braille language and could hint at a more accessible design. Nothing previously claimed that the Phone 3 will be its “first true flagship smartphone” and will have “premium materials.” The handset has been teased to come with major software and performance upgrades as well. It could get the Snapdragon 8 Elite, MediaTek Dimensity 9400, or MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ SoC. We can expect to learn more about the phone closer to its launch. Previously, Carl Pei teased the price for the Nothing Phone 3. It could be priced around GBP 800 (roughly Rs. 90,000) during launch. The base 8GB + 128GB option for the existing Nothing Phone 2 cost Rs. 44,999 at the time of its launch. Other reports suggest that the Phone 3 could cost around Rs. 55,000 in India. The Nothing Phone 3 has been tipped to pack a battery larger than 5,000mAh, a Snapdragon chipset, and a triple rear camera. It is expected to get a large primary sensor as well as a periscope telephoto shooter. 6. Elden Ring: Nightreign Review – Encapsulating Efficiency Elden Ring: Nightreign Review – Encapsulating Efficiency I was skeptical of Elden Ring Nightreign when I first learned of it. Elden Ring is a masterpiece, and though I yearned for yet another visit to The Lands Between, doing so in a run-based roguelite format with a battle royale-style circle closing in on me wasn’t my first choice. In my first dozen hours in Nightreign, I remained skeptical. I wondered if this arcadey format cheapened everything that made Elden Ring so great – it certainly felt like it was on its way to doing so. But at some unceremonious point in the first 12 hours or so, the knowledge I acquired over my previous runs converged, and the pieces clicked into place. Suddenly, I was a master of this parallel Lands Between, calling out key locations my trio needed to hit before the day was up, carving out efficient pathways on the map to secure success, and shouting out moves and dodge timings in real-time to help my team. Nightreign condenses the journey of Elden Ring, its highs and lows, and the acquisition of knowledge into a 45-minute run repeatedly, often to great success. Even though that success comes with some significant caveats, it had me saying, “Just one more run,” over and over again, a marker of excellence in the genre. Set in Limveld, the starting area of Elden Ring, but in a different timeline, players select one of eight Nightfarers at the Roundtable Hold to take on one of the game’s eight expeditions. You have one goal during these: survive through three days, which requires taking down lots of enemies to level up, collecting armaments and items, and defeating major bosses that attack with each day’s end. A successful expedition through Limveld brings you to a fight against the Nightlord, and defeating five Nightlords brings you to the credits. A loosely structured narrative ties the game’s run-based premise together, but it’s barebones, providing just enough justification for those seeking it out. Though learning new Nightfarers on the fly can be detrimental to the others in your trio, all eight playable characters bring something valuable and unique to the roundtable. I stuck with the ranged archer Ironeye character, who is nimble and perhaps the most essential of any run, but I enjoyed the tanky Guardian, too, with his invincibility casting ultimate ability. I look forward to mastering the other six Nightfarers as I shepherd new players through this world. Special “Remembrance” questlines for each character ensure I take them through various runs to complete specific objectives like killing a boss to collect an item, as do unlockable outfits and the constant chase of permanent equippable Relics that offer run-changing buffs and effects. The difference between my runs in the opening hours and the runs I complete now, 41 hours in after defeating every Nightlord, cannot be overstated. I went from casually exploring camps and locations, scouring for loot and secrets, like I would in Elden Ring, to realizing every second wasted has the potential to be ruinous. There is no time to explore, search for secrets, or try out new tactics, at least if you want to defeat the Nightlord at the end of day three (let alone the major bosses at the end of day one and two). Nightreign might be the fastest roguelite, a lesson in min-maxing that punishes idle behavior and indecisiveness. Alongside the other press reviewing this game, linking up in Discord consisted of casual greetings before a succinct lock-in moment as we all began quietly scouting the map while waiting for our Nightfarers to drop into Limveld. By the time we land, we already have our first day on the expedition planned, ready to begin thinking about our day two plans well before hitting level four. It’s fast, demanding, and all the more stressful because of it, but there’s something special about receiving everything you get out of a single-player From Software game in a 45-minute run. That is, when the game’s caveats don’t smash through your enjoyment like a club the Raider Nightfarer might carry. Predictably, matchmaking is a mess. This is annoying in a single-player From Software game, but unacceptable in Nightreign, which is explicitly designed for three-player co-op. And though From Software says this game can be played solo, the scaling feels so off that it’s a challenge for only the best players, or in other words, the true masochists. Even with two other teammates in a voice chat doing everything we’re supposed to, whether using password matchmaking or invite matchmaking, it was a coin toss on whether it’d work. When it didn’t work, it was never clear why. Though random matchmaking is always challenging with a small player pool like we had pre-launch, it is worrying that none of the other systems work particularly well. Still, playing with friends is as challenging as ever due to From Software’s archaic multiplayer. The flawed matchmaking becomes even more frustrating when you’re seeded a map that feels like a failed run from the jump. Though there are times when I prevailed without what I thought I needed, it’s clear what’s necessary in each expedition. The first Nightlord is weak to holy damage, and ideally, you get some holy camps on your map, marked with a symbol to let you know this is a location you should loot for holy armaments. But if you don’t get those camps, there’s a solid chance you don’t find a holy weapon elsewhere, meaning you can’t take advantage of the Nightlord’s primary weakness. Of course, there are other ways to overcome, but Nightreign tells you what is effective against the Nightlord upfront. It’s urging you to utilize a tactic, and it sucks to realize at first glance of the map that you likely won’t get to do so. That frustration pops up in different ways on an expedition, whether it’s a lack of the camps you need, a world boss that’s far overtuned (looking at you, Bell-Bearing Hunter), or a storm circle that puts you on the run for much of the day, meaning you’re skipping valuable points of interest and boss fights just to survive. Sometimes my teammates and I failed an expedition because of something we did wrong, whether that’s misreading a boss, taking too long to loot an area, or missing out on a key location like a flask-granting church. There were lessons to learn in each of these runs. There were an irritating number of times when my teammates and I failed because of Nightreign’s random elements, which felt out of our control and maddening as a result. Yes, this is par for the course for a roguelite, but achieving success feels so rigid in Nightreign that there isn’t room to experiment with something different when things go wrong. I desperately want a button that allows your trio to choose to restart an expedition, rather than waiting to die to return to the roundtable hold, and hopefully get back into another run without a matchmaking issue. Still, whether I completed a run, died because of a mistake I could learn from, or met an early end because luck wasn’t on my side, I was always raring to begin another expedition. The adrenaline and dopamine of a great Elden Ring session are present throughout Nightreign, and it’s exciting knowing you’re theoretically just 45 minutes away from experiencing those feelings again. Nightreign is at its best when I’m at my best, which means From Software’s take on the roguelite genre needs to meet me halfway, leaving its frustrating misgivings at the roundtable hold. When the matchmaking works, when the map randomness gives my trio a fighting chance, and when the storm doesn’t punishingly throw an unfair wrench into the expedition, I’m excited to rise to the challenge. The reward for my efforts is the mastery, knowledge, and adrenaline I spent dozens of hours building in Elden Ring, condensed into a single run. And every success is as visceral and glorious as the last. 8. Perth eco-houses fetching six-figure premiums as more homes being billed as energy efficient Perth eco-houses fetching six-figure premiums as more homes being billed as energy efficient Perth homes which are energy efficient will likely attract an extra $110,000 in its value according to a new report. Domain’s Sustainability in Property 2025 report revealed Perth’s energy efficient houses attracted a higher price tag of $118,000 or 16.1 per cent more than non-energy efficient homes. Energy efficient homes are houses or units which have features such as solar, insulation, and double glazed windows to reduce energy required to heat or cool the house. Meanwhile Perth energy efficient units attract a premium of $92,250 or 19.2 per cent, the largest extra cost of any capital city in the country. Collie — roughly 200km south of Perth — was revealed as the area with the largest premium for energy efficient homes of 23.3 per cent, followed by Mount Pleasant and Balcatta. The report said the more affordable housing market in Perth could have contributed to the larger price premiums. “Among the capital cities, Melbourne and Perth have the highest EE (energy efficient) price premium. Several factors may underpin the stronger performance seen in both Perth and Melbourne,” it read. “Compared to Sydney or Canberra, these cities offer relatively more affordable housing, giving buyers greater flexibility to pay a premium for EE features. “In both markets, newer housing stock — particularly in outer suburbs or infill developments — also provides more opportunities for developers to incorporate energy-efficient design and technology as a competitive differentiator in the market.” The report also revealed sellers were more commonly using energy efficient key words such as eco, solar and north-facing. In 2025 more than 57 per cent of house listings used similar keywords in Perth. Despite the premiums providing more incentive to build them, the report also noted the extra price tag could price out first-home buyers who would be forced to settle for less sustainable housing. 10. *** government upgrades over 50 existing mobile masts across nations *** government upgrades over 50 existing mobile masts across nations Looking to use advanced comms technology to support its Plan for Change, developing local tourism and economic growth, the *** government has extended its Shared Rural Network (SRN) programme to see over 50 mobile communications masts, initially only used to connect EE customers and those calling 999, upgraded to provide coverage from all mobile network operators to improve connectivity in rural communities across Britain. First announced in 2019, the £1.3bn SRN programme was designed to wipe so-called not-spots from the map, providing high-quality 4G coverage to 95% of the *** by the end of 2025. The principle of the project was that through both public and private investment, mobile phone masts would be built or upgraded across the *** to close down rural mobile not-spots, that is areas that had poor or patchy coverage and could not receive a 4G signal from all four mobile network operators (MNOs), or any signal at all. The ***’s four MNOs – EE, Virgin Media O2, Three and Vodafone – all committed to invest £532m to improve 4G coverage and level up connectivity overseen by a jointly owned company called Digital Mobile Spectrum Limited (DMSL). The operators’ funding has been complemented by more than £500m from the government. To deliver the first phase of the programme, all operators committed to upgrade or build mobile infrastructure and extend the reach of their 4G networks to eliminate partial not-spots by 2024, and the second phase of the SRN, publicly funded by the *** government, is due to be completed in 2027. This will see the roll-out of shared masts to bring 4G connectivity to areas that hitherto had no existing mobile service. Since the SRN began over 10,000 sq km have coverage for the first time. Almost 35,000 sq km across the *** now has coverage from all four operators, including over 3,500 sq km in Wales, which is covering roughly 20% of the country. The upgraded masts are calculated to cover a footprint equivalent to the size of 66,470 football pitches, and over half of them are providing new coverage to areas of outstanding natural beauty or national parks. The *** government assured that the upgrade of existing masts will limit the visual and natural impact on the environment, causing less disruption to the surrounding areas. Specific areas set to benefit from the new roll-out boost include the North York Moors National Park, parts of the Southern Upland Way and the Shropshire Hills. Wales sees the biggest connectivity boost, with remote parts of Berwyn Mountains, Brecon Beacons and the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley now covered by all four *** networks. To expand coverage even further, 50 more government funded sites in England, Wales and Scotland are also being targeted for upgrades by March 2026. Under part of the SRN, working with the Home Office, the *** government’s investment is also focused on upgrading Emergency Services Network masts to provide coverage from all four mobile operators which had previously only connected EE customers and anyone making 999 calls. “The growth potential of our areas of outstanding natural beauty must not be stunted by patchy internet,” said *** telecoms minister Chris Bryant. “This milestone is a major step forward for better connectivity for all corners of the ***, meaning everyone can reap the benefits of the digital age. From boosting tourism and business opportunities to providing safer outdoors experiences for visitors to our treasured countryside.” Ben Roome, CEO of Mova, the operating brand for DMSL and wholly owned by the forum main operators, said: “This is a big milestone for rural mobile coverage … helping to close the mobile coverage gap for residents, businesses and visitors. These masts build on the success of the mobile operators hitting their industry-funded targets a year early. “Since the Shared Rural Network began, coverage from all four operators has grown from 66% to 81% of the *** – an increase the size of Wales and Northern Ireland combined,” he said. “With further sites being upgraded and built over the next two years, more people in rural areas will benefit from better mobile coverage.” Source link #government #upgrades #existing #mobile #masts #nations Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

Former Czech Republic soccer boss has prison term for fraud upheld by appeals court Former Czech Republic soccer boss has prison term for fraud upheld by appeals court PRAGUE (AP) — An appeals court in Prague has upheld a lower court ruling that convicted the former head of the Czech Football Association of fraud and sentenced him to 5 1/2 years in prison. Prague High Court also confirmed on Wednesday that Miroslav Pelta must pay a fine of 5 million Czech crowns ($227,000), though a ban on him working in any executive position for five years was cancelled. In the same case, Simona Kratochvílová, a former deputy education minister, was sentenced to six years in prison, banned from working in public office for six years and fined 2 million Czech crowns ($90,800). The pair pleaded not guilty. Wednesday’s verdicts can be challenged by an extraordinary complaint but that will not delay the sentences. Pelta said he would consult his attorney about further steps. The local ruling was issued by Prague’s Municipal Court on Sept 3, 2024. The case dates back to 2017 when police raided the association headquarters and the offices of FK Jablonec, a provincial soccer club partly owned by Pelta. Prosecutors said the reason for the raids was an investigation of suspected fraud involving Pelta in connection with state subsidies. According to the court, Pelta used his personal relationship with Kratochvílová to influence who would receive state subsidies worth 176 million Czech crowns ($8 million). Pelta resigned from the Czech FA a month after he was detained in May 2017. Also, Education Minister Kateřina Valachová resigned because of the scandal. New Horizons originally launched in March 2020 at the onset of widespread lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic, which supercharged its popularity. However, despite its adoption rate by Switch owners, Nintendo has not announced plans for a specific Switch 2 version of the game, unlike other headliners such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Ahead of the hotly anticipated launch of Switch 2 next week, a steady stream of news about the console has emerged. For example, Nintendo has gradually revealed the cross-platform games that are getting Switch 2 enhanced editions. Relatedly, Pokemon Legends: Z-A comes out in October for both consoles, and the Switch 2 version will have improved graphics and performance. 15. As Entire Middle East Shifts, Kurdish Rebels End 4 Decades of War with Turkey As Entire Middle East Shifts, Kurdish Rebels End 4 Decades of War with Turkey ISTANBUL, Turkey – A glimmer of hope is emerging in Turkey after more than 40 years of battle. PKK militants were once focused on armed struggle for independence for the Kurdish people. Now, they want peace with the Turkish government. In Diyarbakir, a Turkish city known for its large Kurdish population, there’s a growing sense of hope. After decades of violence, many here believe peace might finally be within reach. “Turkey has been tired of this war for 40 years, the people of this region are tired of war,” said Tekin Ergin, a resident of Diyarbakir. The Kurdish Workers’ Party, or PKK, recently announced it will disband and disarm as part of a new peace initiative with Turkey. “The PKK might not be a familiar organization for a lot of people in the West, but for Turkey, this is the terrorist organization that is fighting the Turkish government,” Mustafa Akyol, with the CATO Institute, told CBN News. Founded more than 40 years ago, it originally fought for an independent Kurdish state. The PKK is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the European Union. “It is estimated that up and till now, about 50,000 casualties on both sides have taken place, many of them have not just been restricted to military and state personnel, but also a lot of civilian casualties have taken place too,” Dr. Sinan Ciddi, with the D.C.-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told CBN News. Kurds make up about 20% of Turkey’s 86 million people. When the Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) launched its insurgency against the Turkish government in 1984, the goal was to create an independent Kurdish state. However, by the 1990s, the focus began to shift, and the PKK started advocating for greater cultural, political, and religious rights for Kurds living within Turkey. So, why seek peace now? “The PKK realizes that the world has changed dramatically,” said Vahap Coskun of Dicle University. “In other words, it is extremely difficult these days to wage a national struggle with weapons in this age.” Ciddi suggests changing dynamics in the Middle East may have also helped shift the PKK’s strategy. The main factors are the fall of Assad’s regime in Syria, the weakening of Iran, and Israel’s ongoing campaigns against Hezbollah and ******. “The PKK is looking at all this and thinking, ‘Well, I can’t just continue business as usual, the thing is that things are changing, the ground is moving inside of the region,'” said Ciddi. Rasheed Nasir, a Kurd living in Istanbul, tells CBN News that he’s hopeful the PKK’s decision to lay down arms will open the door to a more peaceful future. “We cannot bring back all those who died, so the best solution is a ceasefire so that more of our people don’t end up dying. Both sides have suffered a lot,” said Nasir. Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan recently welcomed the announcement. “Today crossed another critical threshold in the process of a terror-free Turkey,” Erdogan said in a recent speech. “The terrorist organization announced that it decided to disband and surrender its weapons. We find that this decision is important in terms of strengthening the security of our country and the peace of our region.” There’s cautious optimism here. While the details of the peace initiative have not been made public, many hope this will mark the beginning of lasting peace between the PKK and the Turkish government, as well as a better future for the Kurds in the region. Helldivers 2 Players Are Trying to Calm the Eagle-1 Baddie After Over-Gooning on SEAF Forces Helldivers 2 Players Are Trying to Calm the Eagle-1 Baddie After Over-Gooning on SEAF Forces The Helldivers 2 community thought they had their priorities straight. Spread managed democracy, eliminate those democracy-threatening squids, and maybe goon a little over some blue-eyed blonde SEAF soldiers. Simple enough, right? Wrong. Eagle-1 has entered the chat, and she’s not happy about the competition. What started as innocent appreciation for blue-clad battlefield companions has evolved into a full-blown love triangle that would make even High Command blush. Warning: the community’s gooning habits have officially reached yandere territory. When your air support develops trust issues The descent into romantic chaos began innocently enough. Players fell for cute SEAF soldiers, created some wholesome fan art, and thought that was the end of it. Eagle-1 had other plans. Suddenly, the reliable brown-haired pilot who’d been dropping ordnance for months transformed into a certain possessive girlfriend archetype that (ahem) anime fans know all too well. Artist @PT_CROW‘s latest fanart reflects this perfectly—Eagle-1 looking ready to commit war crimes while Helldivers nervously hide their new crush: This artwork captures the exact moment players realized they’d created a monster. The Helldiver’s expression says it all—pure terror mixed with the realization that their pilot might “accidentally” drop a 500kg bomb on their position. Comment byu/Fair-Albatross8520 from discussion inHelldivers Brain chemistry doesn’t lie. The community’s collective neurons fired simultaneously when they saw yandere Eagle-1, and there’s no going back now: Comment byu/Fair-Albatross8520 from discussion inHelldivers The battle lines have been drawn. On one side, the loyal pilot who’s saved countless lives through precision strikes. On the other hand, adorable ground troops who salute back and make players feel like actual heroes instead of expendable meat shields. It’s a competition nobody wanted but everyone’s invested in watching. The community has essentially turned their favorite game into an anime dating simulator… with explosive consequences. Democratic solutions to romantic problems In the name of Liberty, of course. | Image Credit: Arrowhead Game Studios The Helldivers 2 community’s solution reveals their commitment to managed democracy’s core values. Why choose sides when you can have both? The C-01 permit discussion became surprisingly philosophical. Comment byu/Fair-Albatross8520 from discussion inHelldivers This question sparked genuine debate about Super Earth’s relationship policies. Players are treating fictional romance permits with the same tactical seriousness they apply to stratagem loadouts: Comment byu/Fair-Albatross8520 from discussion inHelldivers The logic is bulletproof. Multiple relationships equal multiple reinforcements, which translates to superior democracy-spreading efficiency. It’s tactical polyamory disguised as military strategy! Comment byu/Fair-Albatross8520 from discussion inHelldivers Ah, yes—nobody, including Arrowhead, saw this coming; yet here we are! The community has embraced their gooning destiny faster than Eagle-1 can deliver a precision strike, proving that anime-style character attachment can infiltrate any gaming space, no matter the setting. And now, players are left managing emotional logistics alongside tactical ones. They’re genuinely concerned about Eagle-1’s feelings while simultaneously protecting their SEAF waifus from “accidental” orbital bombardment. The dedication is both admirable and slightly concerning. Miller, President Donald Trump’s top adviser and architect of the administration’s aggressive immigration policies, and Noem told agents they needed to up daily arrests and deportations during the meeting at Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. on May 21, according to Axios. The figure is approximately triple the number of daily arrests that ICE agents were making at the beginning of the Trump administration, the outlet noted. The administration deported 17,000 people in April, according to ICE, that is a 29 percent increase over April 2024, according to NBC News. While Noem took a “milder approach” during the meeting, Miller adopted a “harsh” tone with agents and “had people leaving the meeting feeling their jobs could be in jeopardy if the new targets aren’t reached,” according to Axios. (AP) It is not the first time Miller has “yelled” at senior officials about getting arrest numbers up, sources told the outlet. “Keeping President Trump’s promise to deport ******** aliens is something the administration takes seriously,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in a statement to The Independent. “We are committed to aggressively and efficiently removing ******** aliens from the United States, and ensuring our law enforcement officers have the resources necessary to do so. 22. Samsung Galaxy S26 Series to Use Inkjet Printing to Enable Thinner Lens Modules: Report Samsung Galaxy S26 Series to Use Inkjet Printing to Enable Thinner Lens Modules: Report Samsung Galaxy S25 series was unveiled in January this year, and the company recently jumped into the slim smartphone bandwagon with the Galaxy S25 Edge. Apple is also expected to enter the slim handset space later this year with the iPhone 17 Air. Now, a new report suggests that Samsung is planning to slim down the camera modules in next year’s Galaxy S26 series. The company is likely to implement a new lens production method to make the camera modules of the next Galaxy S series phones thinner. Samsung Aims to Slim Down Galaxy S26 Camera Modules As per a report by Korean publication The Elec, Samsung is working to reduce the thickness of the lens modules of the Galaxy S26 series smartphones using a new “inkjet printing” process. Camera modules on current phones have films between lenses to prevent light reflection (flare) and light overlapping (ghosting). Instead of using films, Samsung’s Electro-Mechanics division will reportedly use matte ink between the rib surfaces of the lens through inkjet printing process. Applying matte ink is reportedly more beneficial than attaching film in minimising the distance between lenses. This method is said to reduce the thickness of the lens module. Samsung Electro-Mechanics reportedly applied for a patent in 2018 for this technology. The camera island is usually the thickest part of a flagship phone. Therefore, reducing its size is likely to reduce the overall thickness of the phone, offering a sleeker look. Samsung is said to use the new process first for the cameras of the Galaxy S26 series, which is expected to include vanilla Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra models. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge earlier this month, emphasising the slim design. The handset measures 5.8mm in thickness and weighs 163 grams. Besides Samsung, other smartphone brands are actively looking to unveil handsets which are significantly thinner than the average flagship handsets of today. Apple is expected to reveal its iPhone 17 Air in September this year with slimmed-down form factors. The Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ is also expected to land soon with a 5.95mm profile. It is said to launch as the world’s slimmest curved display phone. 23. Rainbow Six Siege X Could Use Operator Synergy Combos Like Marvel Rivals Team-Ups Rainbow Six Siege X Could Use Operator Synergy Combos Like Marvel Rivals Team-Ups Rainbow Six Siege X is all about being tactical and having coordinated teamwork. But with a new era incoming, some new-generation mechanics could have been added too, like the Team-Ups system from Marvel Rivals. Don’t get this wrong, teamwork is essential in Siege, and some abilities have to be coordinated well. It’s just diving into the possibility of Operators getting certain bonuses when they use their abilities together with others. Moreover, the mechanics can only apply to the new gamemode, Dual Front. Keep such overpowered strategies away from competitive play, and make the new permanent game mode more attractive. So, how will that work out? That’s what we are going to talk about. What if Rainbow Six Siege X adds the Marvel Rivals Team-Ups mechanics to the equation for Dual Front? This can make Siege Operators overpowered. | Image Credit: Ubisoft If you know about Dual Front, it’s more of a lore-based game mode that will be ever-evolving in Rainbow Six Siege X. It might not attract Core Siege players, but if it had some other additional features, it could be an interesting mode. The idea of Attacker and Defender Operators getting to team up is great, but what if it’s more arcadey? Let’s take Mozzie and Echo, Mozzie has the ability to hack attacker drones in Core Siege. Since Dual Front doesn’t have any labeled operators, he can technically take over Echo’s Yokai Drones of opponents. But it still isn’t quite reaching the potential for Marvel Rivals‘ Team-Ups mechanics. How about seeing things from a lore perspective? Some folks like Finka and Tachanka, in certain ways. What if her Nano-Bot healing could give the Lord some extra health, as a minor bonus? Or what if Thatcher and Dokkaebi can work together? Maybe Dokkaebi can use Thatcher’s EMP tech to disable operators by calling them? That’s too far… Either way, since Dual Front is more of a lore-based game mode, it can use extra benefits. For now, it doesn’t attract many players as many prefer Core Siege; that’s how it has always been. If players need to run and gun, they’d play some other game, but the game of Rainbow Six Siege X doesn’t quite support it. Still a possibility worth hoping for. Why will the feature never see the light of day in the game? While the idea of Marvel Rivals Team-Ups abilities in Siege X sounds cool as a concept, it doesn’t make sense. For example, Siege players have been more coordinated than any shooter around. For example, if a Thermite player chooses to breach a wall, they have to coordinate with operators like Kali or Thatcher to avoid getting bandit-tricked. Sens alone cannot be optimal alone; if Glaz is added to the equation, it makes for a powerful combo. While the idea might not be as premium as the Team-Ups mechanics in Marvel Rivals, Siege has always had it. The game is incomplete without teaming up, as some operators alone are simply useless. There was a time when lore was a part of game mechanics; it might be there in Rainbow Six Siege X, but there was a time before. For example, Zofia could pick herself up after being knocked down and be affected less by Ela’s Grizmot mines. But it was removed due to balancing issues, and it’s better to stay that way. Do you think it would be a good idea to bring Marvel Rivals‘ Team-Ups mechanics to Dual Front in Rainbow Six Siege X? Do you think that’s a terribly bad idea? Let us know in the comments below! 25. Alienware Area-51 (2025) review: Big, proud, loud, and seriously expensive Alienware Area-51 (2025) review: Big, proud, loud, and seriously expensive Why you can trust TechRadar We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test. Alienware Area-51 (2025): Two-minute review Alienware has a reputation among system-building enthusiasts for being, well, a little odd, a little out of the ordinary. As premium brands go, there’s a certain air about it, a je ne sais quoi, so to speak. Iconic? Perhaps, but it also doesn’t know quite what it wants to be. Whether it’s a company that’s dedicated to the teenage gamer from yesteryear or the modern-day millennial professional is still up for debate, and its products show that. None more so than the Alienware Area-51 (2025), I’ve been testing over the last few weeks. Built for a gamer who’s not interested in the finer details, yet equipped with enough hardware to simulate the sun, it has a professional workstation price tag but a physical appearance that’d be more at home in 2009 than 2025. It’s got a top-tier spec sheet, yet lacks some of the fundamentals that would make it a more pro-grade workstation. In short, who it’s for is kind of a mystery. The unit I tested comes with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU, 64GB of DDR5, and a 2TB PCIe 5.0 SSD, so this is not going to be a budget gaming PC, that’s for sure. The configuration I tested comes in at $5,700 in the US (although that’s with a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, not the 5.0 SSD in review), £5,469 in the ***, and an obscene AU$12,320 in Australia. That is a staggering cost, particularly when you consider similar-spec’d DIY machines can be built for a lot less. You may like That, of course, comes with some fairly major caveats. If you do want to build your own machine, you have to know what you’re doing, put in the research, and be comfortable buying all those individual parts and putting it all together. There is some justification for skipping all of that and picking one of these up. Particularly if you’re dead set on the hardware and have the budget for it. (Image credit: Future / Zak Storey) What you get is otherworldly performance, as you’d imagine. Computational tasks absolutely crumble before the Area-51, and gaming, particularly at 4K, is outstanding with even the most intense titles out there landing north of 100 fps on average without AI upscaling or any of the more modern frame generation shenanigans. Slap those settings on top of that stock performance, and that RTX 5090 just runs away with it, hitting frame rates well into the 200s. The Area-51 keeps its components nice and cool too, thanks to twin 180mm intake fans in the front, two 120mm fans in the PSU floor, plus a 360mm AIO in the roof, exhausting upwards. That’s all backed up with a rather curious 1500W platinum-rated PSU delivering power to the lot. Aside from the premium pricing, problems also arise when you begin to dig under the surface. The rear I/O on that custom Alienware motherboard is sub-tier at best, with an overreliance on USB-C and very little USB-A at all, and the rest of the I/O is equally as lackluster, with minimal ethernet support and little in the way of integrated HDMI/DisplayPort or other features all too commonplace on even the cheapest of modern-day Z890 boards. Then there’s the case itself. It’s big, bulky, and far too heavy. The dimensions are massive, and on delivery, the entire thing weighs 88 lbs (or 40 kg), requiring either one strong PC gamer or a two-person team to lift it and chuck it on your desk. That’s surprising given the exterior of the chassis feels particularly dull, mostly composed of an unemotive satin plastic, rather than the thick, girthy steel you’d likely expect, given the heft. Yes, there are those signature Alienware curves and lines and enough RGB lighting dotted around to keep that 15-year-old kid in you happy, but it just lacks the finesse that the best gaming PCs of this price and caliber should come with, and that’s a problem. Alienware Area-51 (2025): Price & Availability How much is it? Starting at $3,749.99 / £3,799 / AU$7,271 When is it available? You can pick one up today Where can you get it? Directly from Dell’s webstore Let’s be fair, we all knew the price tag for this thing was going to be ridiculous; after all, it’s without a doubt Alienware’s signature party trick and is loaded down with top-tier specs from the best graphics cards, best processors, best RAM, and best SSDs you can find on the market right now. The Area 51 starts at $3,749.99 / £3,799 / AU$7,271 in the US, ***, and Australia, respectively, which is still pretty premium as far as gaming PCs go. That’s especially true considering you’re getting a Core Ultra 7 system with an RTX 5080, 32GB DDR5 (or even 16GB DDR5 in Australia), and fairly modest 1TB or 2TB storage. The RTX 5090 configuration I tested (with Core Ultra 9 285K, 64GB RAM, and 2TB PCIe SSD) comes in at $5,699.99 in the US, £5,469 in the ***, and a frightful AU$12,320 Down Under. If I’m honest, we’ve not tested much like this PC at TechRadar to date, largely because of the RTX 5090 at its heart. And while it’s an unabashed monster that delivers exceptional performance, compared to last gen’s RTX 4090, it’s seen a significant price increase—and that was before Nvidia’s low availability and stock issues that it’s suffered since its release. Put this against the best price possible on a DIY rig, though, with the same component tier as my review unit, and the price difference is substantial. According to PC Part Picker, a DIY build would set you back just $4,842.91 in the US, £4,267.64 in the ***, or AU$9,914.60 in Australia. It’s up to you whether you want to pay a roughly 18-28% premium to have a prebuilt system like this, but you can likely get the same performance for cheaper. Alienware Area-51 (2025): Design (Image credit: Future / Zak Storey) Oversized case leaves much to be desired Internal industrial styling is intense External shell a bit dull in the modern era The Alienware Area-51 desktop is big. Seriously big. Its monstrous size will likely keep it off most desks. Even on my own test bench, at three meters long and 60cm deep, it could easily hang off the edge if I had situated it like I do my normal machine. It’s heavy too; that nearly 90 lbs/40kg weight is nothing to snort at—it’s the kind of heft I’d expect from a custom liquid-cooled machine, not a pre-built system like this that’s mostly comprised of plastic and a single AIO cooler. (Image credit: Future / Zak Storey) The overall design is alright. It’s got that Alienware chic, with the curves and the alien head logo on the front. Fonts are tidy, and cooling is for the most part well implemented across the board. The internal layout is massive, and there are QR codes littered everywhere for you to scan if you ever need a handy guide on how to update the graphics card or install new memory in the future. It still looks better suited to a launch a decade ago by modern styling standards. (Image credit: Future / Zak Storey) What’s less impressive is Alienware cutting some corners to bring this machine to market. Cable management internally is less than stellar. There are no braided cables here, and although the rear of the case is tidy, neat, and well-managed, there’s a lot of extra cable around the front jutting out that’s quite unsightly, or it’s bound together awkwardly, pushed into headers on that bespoke motherboard. (Image credit: Future / Zak Storey) There’s even a massive chunk of metal strapped to the right-hand side of the GPU, solely to help cable-manage that 12VHPWR cable going into the RTX 5090, which not only feels massively overkill but also kind of doesn’t work, as it’s still draped along the top of it anyway. I mean, yes, technically it is acting as an anti-sag bracket as well here. The RTX 5090 isn’t the lightest of cards out there, but there are so many better, more elegant solutions out there these days than just a large block of rectangular metal. It’s a real shame. (Image credit: Future / Zak Storey) Then there’s that custom Z890 motherboard, the adorably named—hang on, let me check my notes here—ah yes, the 02JGX1. A bizarre-looking thing, complete with two DIMM slots for your RAM, three M.2 ports, and, well, that’s about it. It does look like Alienware has attempted to lean into that industrial aesthetic here, but there’s so much exposed PCB, wireless cards, and ports just littered everywhere, combined with that poor cabling, it’s seriously distracting. (Image credit: Future / Zak Storey) Power phase setup is fairly tame too (which directly translates to CPU performance, which I’ll speak to momentarily), with a 14-phase design, and the rear I/O is practically nonexistent, with only a smattering of USB Type-A and far too many USB Type-C. You get one Ethernet port and WiFi support (weirdly running as a passthrough all the way at the bottom of the chassis), and that’s kind of it. No Clear CMOS, BIOS flashback, HDMI or DisplayPort out, and no 5.1 audio either. I bring this up very specifically because this is a $5,700 machine, and motherboards at $235 deliver far more for far less. Cinebench R24 performance was well into the two thousands, with a multi-core count of 2,186, on average, and an average single-core score of 136. That’s not too shabby at all. In fact, the multi-score number is around 91 points per thread, making it wildly efficient. Similarly, Geekbench 6 also had a pretty good outing, with 21,786 points scored on the multi-core and 3,148 in single-core performance. That SK Hynix PCIe 5.0 drive in my system, though, is the real winner, and although its sequentials were relatively low for a modern-day PCIe 5.0 drive (averaging just 12.3 GB/s on both read and write), the random 4K performance absolutely decimates pretty much every drive I’ve seen this year. Its random 4K read performance hit a relatively speedy 113 MB/s, with random writes coming in at 350 MB/s. You’re going to see some seriously quick load times with this drive. Temperatures and power draw were well within parameters, too, with the CPU topping out at around 92°C and the GPU at 75.8°C. Nothing out of the ordinary there. And while it is power-thirsty, the max power draw I saw during testing hit 840.8 W from the wall at peak, which isn’t great, but isn’t the worst either. On the gaming side, in my 1080p testing, pretty much every title was well into the 120+ fps range or higher without the help of DLSS or Frame Gen, and a 4K, I saw upwards of 150 fps in Total War: Warhammer III’s Battle benchmark, while Cyberpunk 2077 averaged 57 fps at 4K with ray tracing and no DLSS support at all. The only mild problem I have with this setup is the slight discrepancy against an equally kitted-out rig I built earlier this year. Complete with an RTX 5090 plus Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, my own DIY rig beat out the Area-51 in practically every graphical and computational test. At a guess, this is likely down to that CPU performance being heavily limited by the 14-phase VRM design, as it just couldn’t produce enough juice to keep that Ultra 9 running at full speed for as long as its DIY counterpart. The odd element about that, though, is that the DIY machine only featured a $220 Gigabyte motherboard, yet temps were at 100°C for the chip (and stable), but performance, both computational and in-game, was around 5-10% higher, depending. For a system that’s $1,500 cheaper, that’s not a good look. Should You Buy The Alienware Area-51 (2025)? It delivers on the performance front, but with mediocre styling, average build quality, and an insane price, it doesn’t quite hit the mark. 3.5 / 5 Buy the Alienware Area-51 If… Don’t buy it if… Originally reviewed May 2025 Source link #Alienware #Area51 #review #Big #proud #loud #expensive Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
