What is Rainbow Six Siege X? Showcase Date Revealed
What is Rainbow Six Siege X? Showcase Date Revealed
Ubisoft has a big launch on the new through Rainbow Six Siege X—a successor to 2015’s Siege. More original Siege content is on the way, but it looks like Rainbow Six Siege X is replacing its predecessor, and offering big upgrades.
Fun Fact: I got Rainbow Six Siege shortly after release and ended up selling it a few months later because I couldn’t stop playing it. Siege greatly disrupted my single-player gaming, and I decided to end the relationship. I fondly look back on those early days, and 10 years later, the game is as celebrated as ever. It’s a huge esports hit, the gameplay is still strategic and intricate, and tens of thousands of players still hop on each day.
A Siege 2 rumor gained huge traction in January 2025. The leak came to fruition with the announcement of Siege X.
Do we Know The Rainbow Six Siege X Release Date?
10 years of history. Credit to Ubisoft
There is no release date locked in for Rainbow Six Siege X, nor a vague release *******.
Common sense suggests Siege X will likely be released following the conclusion of Rainbow Six Siege Y10. This isn’t factual though, so be sure to check back as we update you.
When is The Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase Date?
The Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase is penciled in for March 13 at 10 AM PT / 6 PM CT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT.
A Ubisoft article confirmed Siege’s X Showcase date. “A new era of Rainbow Six Siege will be revealed on March 13 at the Siege X Showcase,” it said. The Showcase will show us every aspect of Siege X and its new changes compared to the original.
How to Watch Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase
Ubisoft has confirmed you can check out the full Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase by watching the action unfold on the Ubisoft Twitch Channel.
The Ubisoft Rainbow6 Twitch Channel is the home of all things Rainbow Six Siege. So it makes sense for Siege X to be unveiled here. It remains to be seen if any YouTube channels also broadcast the Showcase.
Keep your eyes peeled for alternative sources—as will we.
What is Rainbow Six Siege X?
Rainbow Six Siege X is described as a “major evolution” of Siege, but it isn’t considered a sequel or normal update.
Ubisoft game director Joshua Mills revealed Siege X aims to keep Siege around for the next 10 years. He raised expectations for Siege X at the Rainbow Six Invitational: “It is not Siege 2, and it’s not just another update. It’s a major evolution. We’re expanding and reinforcing the very foundation of Siege to ensure it remains the pinnacle of tactical PvP first-person shooters.”
“Graphical and audio upgrades, deepened tactical gameplay, and new ways to play the game,” are also at the forefront of Siege X’s marketing ahead of the Showcase.
Check out its first teaser trailer below.
I imagine Siege X is following in the footsteps of Overwatch 2 and CS2 by being a massively upgraded free-to-play enhancement of the original. If so, we can start dreaming of the new content, gameplay mechanics, and much more Ubisoft has in store.
It’s no secret Ubisoft needs a big win in the next year. Assassin’s Creed Shadows might not be enough, but Siege continues to do the business. Does the prospect of X get you amped up? Which new features and twists does Siege X need to separate itself from the OG Siege?
Don’t be afraid to jump into Rainbow Six Siege now if you haven’t already. Let’s answer some common questions about Siege: Does it have crossplay? Is cross-progression enabled? And is there a Rainbow Six Siege Campaign?

A Neptune-Like Exoplanet Is Racing Through Space at Record Speed
A Neptune-Like Exoplanet Is Racing Through Space at Record Speed
A planet believed to be a Neptune-like world is suspected to be orbiting a hypervelocity star moving at a staggering 1.9 million kilometres per hour, making it the fastest known exoplanetary system ever observed. If confirmed, this would mark the first instance of a planet being found accompanying such a rapidly moving star. The discovery was made by a team of NASA researchers who analysed data that dates back to 2011. The existence of this system was identified through microlensing, a technique predicted by Albert Einstein’s general theory of relativity, which allows the detection of distant cosmic bodies by observing how their gravity bends the light from background stars.
Discovery Through Microlensing
According to a study published in The Astronomical Journal, a signal indicating the presence of two objects was detected. NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center researcher Sean Terry stated to Space.com that the system is thought to consist of a super-Neptune orbiting a low-mass star at a distance comparable to the space between Venus and Earth.
The gravitational lensing effect enabled scientists to determine the mass ratio between the two objects, though the exact measurements remain uncertain. David Bennett, a senior research scientist at the University of Maryland and NASA Goddard, explained to Space.com that calculating the mass ratio is straightforward, but pinpointing the exact masses is significantly more complex due to the system’s distance.
A Star and Its Planet or a Rogue Planet and a Moon?
Data from 2011 suggested that the larger object could either be a low-mass star or a rogue planet, with the smaller body potentially being either a Neptune-like exoplanet or a moon. To clarify this, researchers revisited observational records from the Keck Observatory in Hawaii and the European Space Agency’s Gaia mission.
The team concluded that if the primary object were a rogue planet, it would not be visible without gravitational lensing. If it were a star, its brightness would confirm its identity. The latter scenario was supported by follow-up observations, which identified a bright object approximately 24,000 light-years away near the densely populated central region of the Milky Way.
Potential Intergalactic Journey
The star’s movement over a decade was assessed, revealing its extreme velocity. If additional three-dimensional velocity components are factored in, the speed could exceed 1.3 million miles per hour (600 kilometres per second), surpassing the Milky Way’s escape velocity. This would suggest that both the star and its exoplanet may eventually leave the galaxy.
University of Maryland researcher Aparna Bhattacharya mentioned to Space.com that further high-resolution observations are planned to determine whether the 2011 lensing event corresponds to this suspected hypervelocity system.
The upcoming launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope in 2027 is expected to provide more insights into hypervelocity stars and their potential planetary companions, with mission lead Sean Terry highlighting its capacity for comprehensive surveys without the need for additional telescopes.

Oppo Find X8 Ultra Rear Camera Module Design Leaked; Hints at a Telephoto Shooter
Oppo Find X8 Ultra is expected to launch later this year and join the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro handsets. Details about the purported smartphone have done rounds of the rumour mill over the past few weeks. It is tipped to arrive in China alongside the rumoured Oppo Find X8 Mini. The Ultra version will likely get a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a quad-rear camera unit. A tipster has now shared the probable layout of the phone’s rear camera module.
Oppo Find X8 Ultra Rear Camera Module Layout (Expected)
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra will feature a rear camera module with a distinctive horizontal color split, creating clearly defined upper and lower sections, according to a Weibo post by tipster Panda is Very Bald (translated from ********). The tipster also noted that the camera bump will have a two-layered design rather than lying flat. Additionally, the rear camera setup will include a telephoto lens.
An LED flash unit is seen in the upper-left corner of the alleged Oppo Find X8 Ultra, outside the camera island. Among the two rumoured telephoto shooters, one is seen in a square-shaped cutout. The purported 6x periscope zoom camera will likely be placed within a circular slot.
In the rear camera department, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra is said to include a 150-megapixel 1-inch Sony LYT-900 main sensor, a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-701 telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 6x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. The camera setup is said to be co-developed with Hasselblad.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and may launch alongside the Oppo Find X8 Mini in March. The Ultra variant is said to have a 6.82-inch display and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for security. It could pack a 6,000mAh battery with 100W wired, and 50W wireless charging support. The handset could meet IP68 + IP69 ratings for dust and water protection.
A customisable Action Button-like feature, said to be called the Magic Cube Key, is expected to replace the Alert Slider in the Oppo Find X8 Ultra. The button is said to support features such as one-click mute, turning on the flash, taking screenshots or photos, translating, customising quick launch apps, and more..

Trump and Musk’s purge is cutting more than costs, say experts
Trump and Musk’s purge is cutting more than costs, say experts
Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s radical drive to slash billions of dollars in annual federal spending with huge job and regulatory cuts is spurring charges that they have made ******** moves while undercutting congressional and judicial powers, say legal experts, Democrats and state attorneys general.
Trump’s fusillade of executive orders expanding his powers in some extreme ways in his cost-cutting fervor, coupled with unprecedented drives by the Musk-led so-called “department of government efficiency” (Doge) to slash many agency workforces and regulations, have created chaos across the US government and raised fears of a threat to US democracy.
Trump and Musk have also attacked judges who have made rulings opposing several of their moves after they ended up in court, threatening at least one with impeachment and accusing him of improper interference.
Related: Trump is the most lawless president in American history | Robert Reich
“In the US, we appeal rulings we disagree with – we don’t ignore court orders or threaten judges with impeachment just because we don’t like the decision. This is a coup, plain and simple,” Arizona’s attorney general, Kris Mayes, said.
Trump and Musk, the world’s richest man and Trump’s largest single donor, now face multiple rebukes from judges and legal experts to the regulatory and staff cuts they have engineered at the treasury department, the US Agency for International Development and several other agencies.
Incongruously, as Trump has touted Musk’s cost-cutting work as vital to curbing spending abuses, one of Trump’s first moves in office last month was to fire 17 veteran agency watchdogs, known as inspectors general, whose jobs have long been to ferret out waste, fraud and abuse in federal departments.
Those firings were done without giving Congress the legally required 30 days’ notice and specific justifications for each one, prompting mostly Democratic outrage at Trump’s move, which he defended as due to “changing priorities”, and falsely claimed was “standard”.
In response to the firings, eight of those inspectors general filed a lawsuit against Trump and their department heads on Wednesday arguing their terminations violated federal laws designed to protect them from interference with their jobs and seeking reinstatement.
The IGs who sued included ones from the Departments of Defense, Education and Health and Human Services.
Democratic critics and legal experts see Trump’s IG firings and Musk’s Doge operation as blatant examples of executive power plays at the expense of Congress and transparency.
“I think their claims that they’re going after waste, fraud and abuse is a complete smokescreen for their real intentions,” the Democratic senator Sheldon Whitehouse said.
Likening Trump’s firing of the IGs to “firing cops before you rob the bank”, Whitehouse stressed: “It’s pretty clear that what’s going on here is a very deliberate effort to create as much wreckage in the government as they can manage with a view to helping out the big Trump donors and special interests who find government obnoxious in various ways.”
On another legal track opposing Trump and Musk’s actions, many of the nation’s 23 state Democratic attorneys general have escalated legal battles against Doge’s actions and sweeping cost cutting at treasury, USAid and other agencies.
For instance, 19 Democratic AGs sued Trump and the treasury secretary in February to halt Doge from accessing sensitive documents with details about tens of millions of Americans who get social security checks, tax refunds and other payments, arguing that Doge was violating the Administrative Procedures Act. The lawsuit prompted a New York judge on 7 February to issue a temporary order halting Doge from accessing the treasury payments system.
In response, Musk and Trump lashed out by charging judicial interference. Musk on his social media platform Twitter/X where he has more than 200 million followers charged that the judge was “corrupt” and that he “needs to be impeached NOW”.
Trump, with Musk nearby in the Oval Office on Tuesday, echoed his Doge chief saying: “It seems hard to believe that a judge could say, ‘We don’t want you to do that,’ so maybe we have to look at the judges because I think that’s a very serious violation.”
Legal experts, AGs and top congressional Democrats say that Trump’s and Musk’s charges of improper judicial interference and some of their actions pose dangers to the rule of law and the US constitution.
“The president is openly violating the US constitution by taking power from Congress and handing it to an unelected billionaire – while Elon Musk goes after judges who uphold the law and rule against them,” said Mayes.
Ex-federal prosecutors echo some of Mayes’s arguments.
“The suggestions by Trump, Musk and Vance that courts are impermissibly interfering with Trump’s mandate to lead is absurd,” said the former federal prosecutor Barbara McQuade, who now teaches law at the University of Michigan.
“Under our constitutional separation of powers system, each co-equal branch serves as a check on the others. The role of the courts is to strike down abuses of executive power when it violates the law. Comments disparaging the courts seems like a dangerous effort to undermine public confidence in the judiciary. If people do not respect the courts, they will be less inclined to obey their orders.”
Likewise, some former judges worry that certain judges could face violence sparked by the threats Musk and Trump have publicly made.
“While federal judges expect people to disagree with their opinions, I have long feared that personal attacks like those from Trump and Musk against at least one New York judge would expose them to harm and even death,” said the former federal judge and Dickinson College president, John Jones.
“Worse, judges are essentially defenseless when it comes to fighting the false narratives that are being promulgated because their code of conduct prevents them from engaging with the irresponsible people who make these statements.”
Legal experts too are increasingly alarmed about how Musk and Trump are exceeding their power at the expense of Congress, including some of the retaliatory firings by Trump against critics or perceived political foes.
In one egregious case the IG for USAid, Paul Martin, on Tuesday was abruptly fired almost immediately after he issued a highly critical report warning of serious economic repercussions from the sweeping job cuts that Doge was making as it gutted agency staff.
Musk has blasted USAid, which doled out over $40bn in congressionally authorized aid in 2023 and consummated $86bn in private sector deals, as a “criminal organization” and an “arm of the criminal left globalists”. The agency’s mission is to provide humanitarian aid and fund development assistance and tech projects in developing countries.
“The firing of IG Paul Martin, a highly respected and experienced inspector general, on the day after his office released a critical report, risks sending a chilling message that is antithetical to IGs’ ability to conduct impactful independent oversight on behalf of the American taxpayer,” said the ex-defense department IG Robert Storch.
Storch, one of the 17 IGs Trump fired abruptly last month who has joined the lawsuit against the Trump administration, stressed more broadly that “IGs play an essential role in leading offices comprised of oversight professionals across the federal government to detect and deter waste, fraud, abuse and corruption.”
A former IG, who requested anonymity to speak freely, warned bluntly: “Trump and Musk are gaslighting the American people. No one should believe Musk and his troops have actually discovered billions of dollars of waste, fraud, abuse and ‘corruption’. If they had, we would know the specifics. They can’t provide them and they won’t. At most, they have seen things that may need to be explained, but they haven’t bothered to seek the explanation from anyone with relevant knowledge.”
Despite rising concerns about the powers assumed by Musk, Trump unveiled a new executive order in the Oval Office on Tuesday expanding Musk’s authority and mandate.
Trump’s new order requires federal agencies to “coordinate and consult” with Doge to slash jobs and curb hiring, according to a White House summary.
All agencies were instructed to “undertake plans for large-scale reductions in force” and limit new hires to only “essential positions”, according to the summary.
During the Oval Office meeting on Tuesday Musk spoke in grandiose terms about his mission with a few dubious and broad claims about frauds that it had uncovered, while declaring without evidence that it was what “the people want”.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, which have received billions of dollars in federal contracts in recent years, is wielding his new federal authority as a “special government employee” without giving up his private-sector jobs. Musk’s post is a temporary one that bypasses some of the disclosure requirements for full-time federal employees.
As Musk’s powers have expanded and Doge has done work in more than a dozen agencies, 14 state AGs filed a lawsuit in federal court in DC on Thursday broadly challenging Musk and Doge’s authority to obtain access to sensitive government data and wield “virtually unchecked power”.
The lawsuit argues that Trump violated the constitution’s appointments clause by establishing a federal agency without Congress’s approval.
At bottom, some legal experts and watchdogs say the threats posed by Musk’s cost-cutting drive that Trump has blessed, are linked to the record sums that Musk gave Trump’s campaign.
“After Musk reportedly spent close to $300m to help Trump get elected, Trump has been giving Musk what appears to be unprecedented access to the inner levers of government, including private and confidential information about individuals,” said Larry Noble, a former general counsel at the Federal Election Commission who now teaches law at American University.
“Musk and his followers can use that access to help Trump kill or neutralize congressionally created agencies and rules that serve and protect the public interest, while ensuring the government protects and serves the ability of the wealthy to grow their fortunes.”
Other legal watchdogs fear more dangerous fallout to the rule of law from Trump’s greenlighting Musk’s Doge operation and agenda.
“President Trump has not only afforded Elon Musk and Doge extraordinary power over federal agency operations with little public oversight and accountability, but he has also done so at the expense of Congress and its constitutionally mandated power,” said Donald Sherman, the chief counsel at the liberal-leaning watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.
“Trump enabled Musk’s capture of the federal government after illegally firing more than a dozen inspectors general despite Congress strengthening the laws protecting IGs less than three years ago … ”
Sherman noted that “what’s even more troubling is that congressional Republicans have been more than willing to cede their constitutional powers in service of President Trump and Elon Musk’s political agenda.”

China launches hunt for ways to protect data from quantum computers
The rise of quantum computers means we need new ways to keep data secure
whiteMocca/Shutterstock
China has announced that it will spurn US-led efforts to develop encryption algorithms that are resistant to quantum computers, instead choosing to develop its own standards. This may be because China doesn’t want to use algorithms developed in the US in case they contain secret “back doors” allowing access by US intelligence agencies – or it could be that the country wants to develop algorithms with its own back doors.
The encryption algorithms we use to protect data today are practically impossible for even the largest…

Judge calls rare hearing on a holiday in case against Musk’s DOGE
Judge calls rare hearing on a holiday in case against Musk’s DOGE
By Tom Hals
WILMINGTON, Delaware (Reuters) – A U.S. judge has scheduled a rare holiday court hearing on Monday, in a case brought by Democratic state attorneys general seeking to protect major federal agencies from Elon Musk’s government cost-cutting team known as DOGE.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan in Washington, D.C., on Sunday called the hearing for Monday, the Presidents Day holiday when federal courts are closed.

See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories.
She did not say why she ordered the hearing, but on Friday she heard arguments by 13 Democratic state attorneys general for a temporary restraining order that would bar Musk’s DOGE, or Department of Government Efficiency, team from accessing information systems at several government agencies including the departments of Labor, Education, Health and Human Services, Energy, Transportation, Commerce, and the Office of Personnel Management.
DOGE has swept through federal agencies since Republican Donald Trump became president last month and put Musk in charge of rooting out wasteful spending as part of Trump’s dramatic overhaul of government, which included thousands of job cuts on Friday.
The attorneys general also asked the judge to prevent Musk and DOGE team members from firing government employees or putting them on leave.
The attorneys general have requested the order to last for 14 days, giving them time to file legal briefs in pursuit of a more permanent order.
Chutkan did not issue a ruling at Friday’s hearing.
The states argue that Musk wields the kind of power that can only be exercised by an officer of the government who has been nominated by the president and confirmed by the U.S. Senate under the Appointments Clause of the U.S. Constitution. The states also allege DOGE has not been authorized by Congress.
Around 20 lawsuits have been filed in various federal courts challenging Musk’s authority, which have led to differing results in two initial rulings.
U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas in New York extended a temporary block on DOGE on Friday that prevented Musk’s team from accessing Treasury systems responsible for trillions of dollars of payments. But also on Friday, U.S. District Judge John Bates in Washington declined a request by unions and nonprofits to temporarily block Musk’s team from accessing records at the departments of Labor, and Health and Human Services, as well as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Most of the judges handling DOGE cases have not yet issued rulings.

Europe can wait: Ange focused on Spurs’ progress
Europe can wait: Ange focused on Spurs’ progress
Tottenham’s *********** boss Ange Postecoglou played down talk of European qualification after his side’s 1-0 win over Manchester United.
Spurs have endured a difficult winter with a plethora of injuries and they started Sunday’s fixture in 15th, but a second consecutive Premier League victory moved them to 12th on 30 points.
With 13 league fixtures left, Tottenham are 11 points behind seventh-placed Newcastle and while Postecoglou will not get carried away despite the return of key trio Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Brennan Johnson, he senses an opportunity to build momentum.
“Considering you guys were asking me about relegation around 10 days ago, I don’t think either is where we’re looking at,” Postecoglou responded when asked about a late push for Europe.
“It’s only mid-February. There’s a fair way to go. European football for us this year is important. We’re in the Europa League and we’ve got an opportunity there to make an impact, but I thought we could make an impact in the league.
“(This) was a step towards that. We can play better, for sure. We will play better. We’ve got an opportunity to address the situation we’re in.
“We’re not happy with where we are. It’s unacceptable that we’re in the position we are, but the circumstances have dictated that to a great extent.
“The circumstances will change. The guys who came back in will improve and make us stronger. There’s still two or three more on the horizon who will also come back.
“It’s only one game, but I thought it was an important game if we were going to start that progress.”
Tottenham defender Kevin Danso limped off, while midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur had an ice pack on following his withdrawal, but Postecoglou expects the duo and captain Son Heung-min to be fit for Saturday’s trip to Ipswich.
“I don’t think it is anything significant, but the beauty of it now is we can actually get them to recover instead of trying to patch them up and throw them out again midweek,” Postecoglou said.
“I think from what I’ve heard … they should be fine.”

Israelis mark 500 days since hostages were seized by ****** gunmen
STORY: :: Israelis remember the hostages still held in Gaza 500 days after being captured by ****** gunmen
:: February 17, 2025
:: Tel Aviv, Israel
:: Zahiro Shahar, Nephew of Israeli hostage
:: “No one thought it would come to this amount of time. No one thought it would take 500 days. Or even that it would take 100 days. I remember the 100th day all the people were, you know, like, wow, how could we get to the point where we were 100 days missing them and now its 500 days.”
:: Naama Weinberg, Cousin of a slain hostage
:: “And this deal is finally have finally started. And we’re here to shout out that we can’t stop this deal until we get the last hostage back home and that the gaps need to close. It needs to be much faster.”
:: Efrat Machikawa, Relative of a hostage
:: It’s hard to breathe. It’s hard to maintain normal life. It’s hard to go back to academia. It’s hard to go back to business. It’s hard. Israel is not a whole. And we should know that light will overcome this darkness.”
The families reflected on the 500 days as a very long time to have people held in captivity for, demanding the release of all remaining hostages held in Gaza.
There had been growing alarm that the ceasefire agreement could unravel before the end of the 42-day first stage of the truce pact in effect since January 19, leaving many families worried about the return of their loved ones.
Nineteen Israeli and five Thai hostages have been released so far, with 73 still in captivity, around half of whom have been declared dead in absentia by Israeli authorities. The ceasefire’s second phase is meant to usher in negotiations to return the remaining living hostages.
Israel’s security cabinet is expected to convene on Monday to discuss the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

‘It hasn’t evolved as much as it should have’: Overwatch 2 director says Marvel Rivals adds pressure to improve
‘It hasn’t evolved as much as it should have’: Overwatch 2 director says Marvel Rivals adds pressure to improve
The game director of Overwatch 2 says areas of the game haven’t evolved quickly enough, and that the popularity of newcomer Marvel Rivals puts pressure on his team to improve things.
In an interview with GamesRadar, Aaron Keller was asked if the team felt pressure now that Marvel Rivals has been out for two months and appears to be a success.
Keller conceded that the Overwatch 2 team did feel some pressure to deliver due to the arrival of new competition, but noted that it had already been identifying areas where the game was lacking and putting in work to resolve it.
“There is pressure on the Overwatch team, and a lot of it is internal,” Keller explained. “It’s [asking], ‘how do we make the best possible game that we can?’ And we’ve been feeling it for a while.
“You know, a lot of the things that we’re announcing for seasons 15 and 16, like perks and Stadium, they’re things that have been in development for Overwatch for quite some time. And I think what’s driving that is, when we look at our game, we feel like it’s either missing something or it hasn’t evolved as much as it should have.”
“I look at what happens in a game of Overwatch, and a lot of times, when you get enough hours in the game, it almost feels like you can be going through the motions sometimes. What we want to be able to do is to inject a bit of freshness into the game, but not just for variety’s sake. We want to increase the depth of play.”
The release of Marvel Rivals has coincided with a notable drop in Overwatch 2’s average player count.
Keller also said he welcomed competition within the genre, because it forces the team to actually take risks instead of resting on its laurels and delivering something more conventional.
“We’re obviously in a new competitive landscape that I think, for Overwatch, we’ve never really been in before, to this extent where there’s another game that’s so similar to the one that we’ve created,” he said, referring to Marvel Rivals.
“There’s actually something kind of exciting about this, for a few reasons. One of those is, it’s really great to see a game kind of take a different direction with some of the things you’ve kind of looked at before.
“But also, we think it’s a forcing function to our team – this is no longer about playing it safe. And I really think that seasons 15 and 16 are us not playing it safe. But really it’s a forcing function to execute – and for a team of super passionate craftspeople, that’s like music to their ears.”
Elsewhere in the GamesRadar interview, Keller said he understood why some players feel negatively about Overwatch 2, most notably because the story-based co-op modes promised during development were mainly scrapped to focus on PvP gameplay.
“I think that there’s been a lot of people that have stuck with Overwatch over the years that have really noticed the care and attention that we’ve put into it since Overwatch 2 has shipped,” he said.
“Especially over the course of the last year, we’ve really focused on leveling up the game. “I hope those people really see that with a lot of the things we’ve been sharing lately, and hopefully that can spread out to the broader community as well.
“But [on the other hand] I understand, you know? I understand when people have that particular view. They thought that the game was going to be something that it didn’t end up being. I get the criticism, but from the team’s point of view, the only thing that we can do about that now is to make the best version of this game that we can.”
SteamDB data researched at the end of January found that Overwatch 2’s average Steam player count had dropped by nearly 40% since the release of Marvel Rivals.

Stalker 2’s second ‘major patch’ is here, with more than 1,700 fixes and improvements
Stalker 2’s second ‘major patch’ is here, with more than 1,700 fixes and improvements
Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World has released a “major patch” for the game, featuring more than 1,700 fixes and improvements.
The Version 1.2 patch is described as “a massive one, with over 1700 improvements and fixes to all aspects of the game – balance, locations, quests, blockers, crashes, performance, more A-Life 2.0 fixes, you name it.”
“This work wouldn’t have been possible without your feedback and comments on your personal experience with the Zone”, the studio said in a statement. “Thanks for sharing it here on Steam, Reddit, Discord, and other socials.”
The patch includes fixes for more than 120 issues with AI, numerous balancing tweaks and over 100 improvements implemented in optimisation and elsewhere “under the hood”.
More than 300 quest issues have been addressed within the game’s main story, while more than 150 “anomalies” have been fixed in side missions and other enemy encounters.
It also includes more than 30 fixes for The Zone, more than 70 bug fixes for player gear and player state, more than 130 fixes for player guidance and game settings and over 450 environmental improvements.
Numerous tweaks and fixes were also made to cutscenes, voiceover, localisation, sound and music. The full list of patch notes can be found on the official Stalker 2 website.
The patch has also been followed by a smaller Version 1.2.1 patch, which addresses some issues players were having with crashes when loading save files.
“Thanks for staying with the Zone,” the studio said. “As always, we will continue to listen to your feedback and comments, and share game updates as soon as possible.”
VGC’s Stalker 2 review said the game’s “countless bugs and massive tech issues take the shine off” the game.
“Stalker 2 could be a great game in a few years, but what’s presented at launch is a technical mess that doesn’t capitalise on its best ideas,” we wrote. “Compelling side stories and a brilliant setting do a lot of the heavy lifting, but at launch Stalker 2 isn’t an adventure we’d fully recommend embarking on.”

External Appearance
SilverStone prioritizes functionality and performance over aesthetics with the HELA 2050R Platinum. The unit features a simple satin ****** finish on its chassis, complemented by decorative stickers on the sides. While understated in design, the unit’s focus is clearly on delivering high performance rather than visual flair.
Measuring 180 mm in length, the HELA 2050R is significantly larger than the ATX standard but still compact compared to older >1.5 kW designs. It should fit most cases designed for advanced gaming systems and workstations. The fan finger protection grill is a standard circular wire guard. A sticker with electrical specifications and certifications is located on the top side of the PSU.
The front side of the unit is littered with numerous cable connectors. The rear panel houses an IEC C20 AC receptacle, a power switch, and a hybrid fan mode button that allows the fan to remain off under low loads to reduce noise. Turning the hybrid fan mode off will force the fan to operate at all times regardless of the load but its speed will still be thermally controlled.

Internal Design
Cooling the HELA 2050R Platinum is a Globe B1352512EH-3M 135 mm fan with a durable double ball bearing design. This type of fan ensures long-term reliability and is greatly more resilient towards high temperatures but can produce more noise compared to fluid dynamic bearings. The zero-RPM mode prevents the fan from operating while the load is low, so noise should not be an issue under typical circumstances.
The OEM behind the HELA 2050R is Enhance Electronics, a well-regarded Taiwanese manufacturer known for producing high-output designs. Enhance typically focuses on balancing competitive cost with robust performance. The input filtering stage is heavily reinforced, featuring six Y capacitors, four X capacitors, and two oversized inductors, which are essential given the unit’s massive power output.
In the Active Power Factor Correction (APFC) stage, two MOSFETs and two diodes mounted on heatsinks work alongside three Nippon Chemi-**** 680 μF capacitors and three encased inductors. The primary inversion stage utilizes an LLC resonant topology, with four Oriental Semi 60R074FSZF MOSFETs forming a full-bridge configuration, mounted on the same heatsink as the APFC components.
The secondary stage employs an array of MOSFETs directly on the PCB attached to the side of the two transformers to generate the main 12V line, while DC-to-DC converters on a vertical daughterboard supply the 3.3V and 5V lines. High-quality capacitors from Rubycon and Unicon populate the secondary stage.

Cold Test Results
Cold Test Results (25°C Ambient)
For the testing of PSUs, we are using high precision electronic loads with a maximum power draw of 2700 Watts, a Rigol DS5042M 40 MHz oscilloscope, an Extech 380803 power analyzer, two high precision UNI-T UT-325 digital thermometers, an Extech HD600 SPL meter, a self-designed hotbox and various other bits and parts.

During room temperature testing, the SilverStone HELA 2050R Platinum comfortably exceeds the Cybenetics Platinum efficiency requirements, showcasing excellent performance across its load range. At 115 VAC, where testing is limited to a maximum power output of 1650 watts due to input current constraints, the PSU achieves an average nominal load efficiency of 90.8%. Efficiency improves greatly under 230 VAC input, reaching an impressive average of 93%, a figure that could possibly grant the unit a Titanium certification if certification testing was performed at this temperature. Efficiency peaks at 30 to 50% load, where the unit sustains 94.1% efficiency for over 20% of its loading range. The HELA 2050R delivers good efficiency even at very low loads, which is important for a unit with that huge a power output.
The fan operates in zero-RPM mode at loads below 750 watts, allowing for silent operation under typical gaming or light workstation use. When the load exceeds 750 watts, the fan activates quietly but steps up sharply when the load surpasses 1400 watts, at which point the fan speed increases noticeably. Even under maximum load, the fan does not reach its rated top speed of 2300 RPM but the noise levels when the unit is heavily loaded are high.
Thermal performance is excellent in cold testing, with internal temperatures extremely well-regulated even during sustained high loads. Due to the unit’s very high capacity, we expected much higher temperatures under stress but we were pleasantly surprised that the HELA 2050R can maintain safe temperatures even when very heavily loaded for prolonged periods of time. This robust thermal management ensures the PSU operates reliably within safe limits, making it well-suited for demanding applications.
Hot Test Results
Hot Test Results (~45°C Ambient)
During hot testing, the SilverStone HELA 2050R Platinum experiences a measurable but not severe decline in efficiency compared to cold conditions, precisely as expected under elevated temperatures. Efficiency averages 89.4% at 115 VAC and 91.1% at 230 VAC, compared to 90.8% and 93%, respectively, observed during cold testing. This efficiency reduction of around 1.4-1.7% is within acceptable limits for a PSU operating at high ambient temperatures and there are no signs of significant thermal stress.
Image 1 of 5
The fan in the HELA 2050R Platinum activates earlier than during cold testing, engaging at loads slightly below 600 watts. It ramps up more aggressively with increasing load, reaching its maximum speed at around 80% load (approximately 1600 watts). The fan noise becomes noticeable beyond 800 watts and the unit becomes very loud when the load is greater than 1500 watts.
Thermally, the PSU performs relatively well even under prolonged heavy loads, with internal temperatures rising to uncomfortable levels but not unexpectedly high considering the >150-watt losses. The unit approaches its thermal threshold under sustained maximum loads but the over-temperature protection (OTP) is not triggered. It is likely that temperatures under severe stress could be lower if better heatsinks were to be used but such operating conditions are not likely to happen under normal circumstances.
PSU Quality and Bottom Line
Power Supply Quality
The SilverStone HELA 2050R Platinum demonstrates impressive electrical performance, especially considering its extreme power output. Voltage regulation is fairly good across all rails, with the 12V rail maintaining a deviation of 1.1%, the 5V rail at 1.7%, and the 3.3V rail at 1.6%. Ripple suppression is excellent for a unit with such a massive power output, with maximum ripple levels of 50 mV on the 12V rail, 24 mV on the 5V rail, and 24 mV on the 3.3V rail—well within industry standards even for much lower-output PSUs.
During our thorough assessment, we evaluate the essential protection features of every power supply unit we review, including Over Current Protection (OCP), Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Over Power Protection (OPP), and Short Circuit Protection (SCP). The SCP protection mechanism activated and functioned correctly during testing. Unfortunately, we cannot correctly assess the OPP and OCP mechanisms of this unit as our loads are unable to load this unit beyond ≈120% capacity and/or 200 amperes on the 12V rail, which is not enough to momentarily trigger the OPP or OCP mechanisms.

Bottom Line
The SilverStone HELA 2050R Platinum is an impressive powerhouse of a PSU, designed to cater to extreme-performance systems requiring immense power output and the latest compatibility features. Built to ATX 3.0 standards, the HELA 2050R provides three 12+4 pin PCIe 5.0 connectors, making it an excellent choice for configurations with multiple modern GPUs or other high-power components. Its 2050W capacity (limited to 1650W on 115V input) ensures it can handle even the most demanding setups, positioning it firmly in the ultra-high-end PSU category. We should note that the 1650 watt limit on 115 VAC outlets is very high and requires the full capacity of a 20A circuit breaker / outlet to sustain it, anything higher than that would violate the NEC regulations.
The HELA 2050R’s design prioritizes functionality over aesthetics. Its all-******, flat, ribbon-style cables and modular design allow for clean and organized cable management, which is essential for a PSU of this size and complexity. Measuring 180mm in length, the unit is compact for a 2050W PSU but still requires a case with ample space. The Enhance Electronics platform that the HELA 2050R Platinum is using delivers solid electrical performance, with tight voltage regulation and excellent ripple suppression across all rails. The Cybenetics Platinum-certified efficiency is stellar under 115V and 230V inputs, peaking at 94.1% during mid-loads. While its efficiency drops in high-temperature conditions, it remains within acceptable limits, and the thermal management system keeps the unit running safely even under sustained heavy loads.
SilverStone equips the HELA 2050R with high-quality internal components, such as Nippon Chemi-**** and Rubycon capacitors, and a highly durable double ball-bearing Globe fan, ensuring long-term reliability. However, at high loads, the ball-bearing fan becomes quite loud. The use of more substantial heatsinks could further improve its thermal efficiency under extreme loads, but we need to point out the fact that the unit manages to operate without even starting its cooling fan with loads that surpass the entirety of power needed by a typical gaming system.
At a retail price of $530, the HELA 2050R Platinum is undeniably expensive, though not unreasonably so for a halo product with this power capacity and feature set. It competes in a niche market where buyers are typically less price-sensitive and seek specific features and/or a top-tier product without any consideration regarding its cost-effectiveness.
While the HELA 2050R Platinum is a remarkable unit, its extreme power capacity irrefutably is overkill for most setups. However, for professionals and enthusiasts requiring the utmost in performance and power output, the HELA 2050R delivers an impressive mix of power, efficiency, and advanced features. It is an excellent option for those building ultra-high-end systems or extreme workstations that push the boundaries of modern hardware.

India’s NTPC plans to spend $62 billion on 30GW of nuclear power, sources say
India’s NTPC plans to spend $62 billion on 30GW of nuclear power, sources say
Indian state power company NTPC is looking to build 30 gigawatts (GW) of nuclear power capacity over the next two decades, three times more than expected, at a cost of $62 billion, three sources said.
The country’s top power producer, which mainly runs coal-fired plants, is seeking land for its ambitious plan in a country where local resistance to such projects is high, said the sources, who have direct knowledge of the matter.
NTPC was targeting 10 GW of nuclear capacity but tripled the goal after the government this month announced plans to open up the sector to foreign and private investment, the sources said.
CNBC’s Inside India newsletter: How Modi’s trip to the U.S. and France could help India grow its nuclear ambitions
“NTPC plans to lead India’s nuclear power plan just as it did in the…thermal sector,” one of the sources said. “The identified sites are promising and hold potential for large capacity addition.”
An NTPC spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.
India has committed to setting up 500 GW of non-fossil fuel electricity generation capacity by 2030 and wants to have at least 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047.
State-run Nuclear Power Corp of India is currently the sole operator of the country’s nearly 8 GW capacity, aiming for an increase to 20 GW by 2032.
Get a weekly roundup of news from India in your inbox every Thursday.

NTPC is already building two 2.6 GW plants with Nuclear Power, one in Madhya Pradesh and one in Rajasthan.
It is also in the process of seeking early approvals for land in eight states for detailed studies in 27 locations, said the sources, after public resistance and acquisition issues have hobbled the country’s atomic energy ambitions.
The states include Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s native Gujarat in the west, Uttar Pradesh in the north, central India’s Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in the south.
Law changes
The sources said the locations could be enough to set up capacity of at least 50 GW.
Private Indian utilities and conglomerates such as ***** Power, Vedanta, Reliance Industries and Adani Power have expressed their interest in nuclear power, Reuters has reported.
NTPC’s newly created unit NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam is likely to make the investments in the sector, including through partnerships, the sources said.
A company executive told Reuters last week that NTPC was in talks about the construction of small nuclear reactors with foreign firms, including from Russia and the United States.
The sources said potential partners include France’s EDF, and General Electric and Holtec International from the U.S.

EDF said it was prepared to collaborate with Indian industrial partners to develop a small modular reactor project. General Electric and Holtec did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Modi, during visits to France and the U.S. last week, said the government would work with both countries to develop India’s nuclear industry.
The Atomic Energy Act of 1962 currently bars private investments in nuclear power plants, while stringent liabilities under the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act, 2010, deter foreign fuel and equipment suppliers such as GE and Westinghouse from signing deals.
Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed amending the two Acts, and promised 200 billion rupees ($2.30 billion) for the research and development of SMRs, at least five of which will be operational by 2033.

Neymar: Brazil forward ‘rediscovering joy’ back at boyhood-club Santos
Neymar: Brazil forward ‘rediscovering joy’ back at boyhood-club Santos
Neymar says Santos are helping him to “rediscover joy” after returning to his boyhood club on a short-term contract.
The 33-year-old ended a 16-month goal drought when coolly converting from the penalty spot in Santos’ 3-1 win against Agua Santa on Sunday.
“I’m happy to be playing again. I feel I’m improving,” said Neymar, who completed a return to Santos after Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent following an injury-hit spell with the club.
He added: “Obviously I’m not going to be 100% physically, it’s only my fourth game but I’m getting better and better.
“I was anxious to score and wanted to dedicate this to the fans and my family.”
Al-Hilal paid £77.6m to sign Neymar from Paris St-Germain in August 2023 but a knee injury restricted him to just seven appearances.
Neymar made his senior debut for Santos aged 17 in 2009, scoring 136 goals and laying on 64 assists in 225 matches during his initial spell with the club.
The Brazil forward further established himself as one of the world’s best footballers after joining Barcelona for £48.6m in 2013.
He won eight trophies during his time at the Nou Camp, including the Champions League and two La Liga titles before joining Paris St-Germain for a world-record fee of £200m in 2017.
He picked up a further 13 trophies in Paris but fell out of favour with manager Luis Enrique and sought a new challenge in Saudi Arabia.
Shortly after the switch, Neymar overtook ***** to become Brazil’s all-time leading male goalscorer with 78 goals, but has not played for his country since his initial knee injury in October 2023.
Neymar said he had been “wishing for this moment to come true for a long time” when announcing his return to Santos on deal which runs until 30 June.
“We’re helping each other, Santos are helping me, they’ve opened doors for me to rediscover soccer, to rediscover joy,” he said.
“I didn’t want to sign a long contract because I didn’t know how I was going to come back. I didn’t know how I was going to feel during these months. Let’s enjoy these moments, it’s the start of a great era for Santos.”

Cycling star Geraint Thomas to retire at season’s end
Cycling star Geraint Thomas to retire at season’s end
Geraint Thomas, the former Tour de France champion who also won gold medals in track cycling for Great Britain at the Olympic Games in 2008 and 2012, has announced this will be his final year as a professional.
Thomas, a loyal teammate with a tremendous appetite for victory who transformed into a leader in his own right over his almost two-decade career, said on Monday he would focus on the Tour this summer with Ineos Grenadiers.
Aged 38, Thomas told the BBC he would will ride in support of the team’s ambitions and “maybe try to win a stage but just enjoy the race” that he won in 2018.
“Since I was a kid I dreamt of riding the Tour and being part of the Olympics and winning was obviously a dream as well, but to achieve that was just nuts,” he told BBC Breakfast.
“I think now the decision is official, you do start to reflect because when you’re in it, it’s just one thing after the next, year after year, so you don’t really appreciate it.
“I guess at the time you enjoy it but I don’t think you sit back and reflect and think. So there will be a bit of that this year.”
For a long time, Thomas had a reputation as a party boy, always up for a few pints of beer while watching a rugby match. But his longevity at the highest level speaks volumes about his dedication and balanced lifestyle.
“He is a true fighter,” said Dave Brailsford, the man who masterminded Britain’s successes at the Olympics and Tour de France.
Growing up on the outskirts of Cardiff, Wales, Thomas started bike racing at 10, and his exceptional qualities did not remain unnoticed for long.
“I first saw him when he was about 13 or 14 and he joined me at 17,” recalled Rod Ellingworth, the performance director at Team Sky when Thomas won the Tour, who also trained him as a British team coach.
“You could see straightaway he was just flying round the track, he was pretty good. As he joined the junior program, you just knew he was going to be pretty talented.”
Thomas’s first successes came on the track. In 2006, he was the youngest member of the British pursuit team that competed at the world championships.
In 2008, he won the Olympic gold medal alongside Bradley Wiggins. Four years later in London, with a second gold medal secured in the same event, Thomas left track cycling to focus on road racing.
