Sheffield Shield: WA’s Joel Curtis standing between Victoria and victory with one day to play
Western Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Joel Curtis is the last hurdle standing between Victoria and victory in their clash at the Junction Oval.
The reigning champions closed the penultimate day of their third Sheffield Shield clash in a perilous position, leading by just 72 runs with three wickets in hand.
The visitors were left in a ***** after conceding a 206-run first-innings lead to Victoria on day two, before losing desperately out-of-form opener captain Cam Bancroft before stumps.
It left emerging batters Sam Fanning and Jayden Goodwin to pick up the pieces, but both were back in the sheds early on day three after a strong burst from Sam Elliott.
Even the hot form of Hilton Cartwright wasn’t enough to pull WA back into contention.
The all-rounder paired with fellow veteran Ashton Turner to add 97 to the total before the latter fell to Fergus O’Neill caught behind for 41.
Cartwright remained stoic as he and Curtis chipped away at Victoria’s advantage before O’Neill got a length ball to nibble his outside edge on its way to Sam Harper’s greedy gloves for 78 from 166 deliveries.
Curtis showed his rare Premier Cricket form, where he reached triple figures in successive innings, could translate to state cricket.

Batting with the tail, he showed strong decision-making to cash in on bad ****** and protect the lower order.
He saw his side to a lead and ended the day unbeaten on 83 alongside paceman Brody Couch who will resume on the last day with 11 runs.
Meanwhile, Queensland opener Matthew Renshaw graced national selectors with a reminder of what he could do, working his way to an unbeaten century against Tasmania.
The 28-year-old had been the forgotten man in the debate over who should open for Australia in the India series before Nathan McSweeney ultimately got the nod, but his unbeaten 120 for the Bulls has sent a message about his class.
But Renshaw showed renewed purpose on Sunday, cracking his first boundary with a delightful whip through mid-on that set the tone for his innings.
Queensland finished day three on 7-274 and need 37 runs to avoid the follow-on with a day remaining on a placid deck in Brisbane.

Melania Trump’s Latest Announcement Shows She Isn’t Stopping This Controversial Side Hustle Anytime Soon
It seems that even though Donald Trump is heading back to the White House, Melania Trump is continuing this controversial business venture, and isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Earlier this week, Melania released a limited-edition photo series called “On the Move,” which shows Melania in various professional settings. the 16 digital images show her on the campaign trail, in her office, and more; and she’s selling them via blockchain.

Melania Trump Continues Her First Lady Feud With Jill Biden After Declining White House Visit
It’s being sold on her website for nearly $200, and is being sold on Solana blockchain, which is an “eco-friendly proof-of-state blockchain protocol,” per Fox News via MSN.
Melania Knauss Trump, Donald Trump
For those wondering: what the heck is a blockchain? Well, per IBM, a blockchain is basically, it’s a technology that records transactions, often associated with cryptocurrency, NFTs, and more. And this isn’t the first time Melania has dabbled in this world. In fact, she’s been in this controversial world since 2021, making it her first post-White House project.
Since 2021, she’s released a series of NFTs, many of which are ornaments for the holiday season or other holidays.
Now, why are blockchains and NFTs controversial? Well, because they’ve been linked to many scams, intellectual property issues, and have been linked to contributing a lot to carbon emissions, to name a few.
So it seems that despite the Trump family going back to the White House, Melania may be keeping up this side hustle, especially since she’s reportedly only been at the White House part-time.

Farming minister urges farmers to ‘look calmly’ at tax plans
Farming minister urges farmers to ‘look calmly’ at tax plans
BBC/Martin Giles
Farming minister Daniel Zeichner says fewer than 500 farms a year will be affected by the tax changes
The farming minister has urged farmers to “look calmly” at the government’s plans to make them pay inheritance tax and insisted that “the vast majority will be fine”.
Daniel Zeichner, the MP for Cambridge, was speaking as hundreds of farmers prepared to travel to London this week to protest at the measure announced in last month’s Budget.
He told the Politics East programme that the decision to make the heirs of farmers pay inheritance tax on land worth more than £1m was necessary and he described claims that thousands of families would be affected as “extraordinary” .
The National Farmers Union (NFU), which believes that a majority of farmers will be affected, has described the announcement as a “miscalculation… which demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding of how farming is shaped and managed”.
BBC/Shaun Whitmore
Daniel Zeichner insists that most farmers will not be affected by the government’s inheritance tax plans
Until now farm land has not been subject to inheritance tax but the chancellor wants to change that. From April 2026, any land worth more than £1m will be taxed upon the ****** of its owner at the reduced rate of 50%.
The news has caused consternation among farmers, but the farming minister insists that their worry is misplaced.
“I urge people to look calmly at the detail and I think they will find that the vast majority will be fine,” he said.
“The figures from the Treasury are very clear: under 500 farms a year are likely to be affected and I would say to people take advice because every person’s situation is different and there will be many, many people who will find they are not actually going to be caught by this.”
The minister says couples and farms with property should be able to claim further reductions in their bill, and if land is passed on more than seven years before a person ***** there will be nothing to pay.
“People should look at the actual facts rather than the slightly extraordinary projections which are being made,” he said, referring to claims from the NFU and Country Land and Business Association that 70,000 people would be affected.
‘I want Rachel Reeves to spend a day on my farm’ BBC/Andrew Sinclair
Simon Dann says inheritance tax plans are a “kick in the teeth” for farmers who are already struggling to make money
Simon Dann farms 680 acres near Dereham in Norfolk. His herd of 400 cows are milked three times a day on behalf of a major milk supplier and his 18,000 hens lay eggs for a leading supermarket.
He also runs a successful ice cream business which supplies hotels and restaurants across the county.
“Farming is getting *******,” he says, blaming the fluctuating milk price, the after effects of Brexit and the difficulty in finding good staff.
“I would dearly love to bring the chancellor out to my farm and get her to work with me for a day. I’d love her to go home and think ‘gosh there are some people working really hard out there to put food on our plates, we ought to take more notice of them’.”
He calls the new inheritance plans which could leave his children facing a bill of more than £1m as “a kick in the teeth”.
“Because we’re in a *********, they (the government) think they can get away with it.
“But this…has created a potentially large tax burden which the average farm may not be able to come up with.”
‘We absolutely get it’
Zeichner made it clear that there were no plans to withdraw the tax. He blamed the last government’s handling of the economy for the move but said the farming and food production budget had been increased in the Budget, which he said was a positive message for the sector.
The minister, who was in Labour’s Environment, Food and Rural Affairs team while in opposition, told Politics East that he was “a champion of farmers”.
“We absolutely get it and I am absolutely prepared to look them (farmers) in the eye and say ‘we are with you, we will support you through what I understand is a difficult transitional *******’,” he said.

Super typhoon weakens as it barrels through Philippines
Super typhoon weakens as it barrels through Philippines
Super typhoon Man-Yi has swept across the Philippines’ main island of Luzon, threatening heavy rain in the capital region Metro Manila after triggering more than one million evacuations and damaging buildings in several areas.
Packing winds of 185km/h, it weakened slightly after hitting land in the town of Panganiban in Catanduanes province on Saturday night to arrive over the coastal waters of Camarines Norte province by 8am Sunday, weather officials said.
“We evacuated because every time there is a typhoon, the water rises in the nearby river,” said Amalia Santisas, who lives in the coastal area in the capital Manila.
“We have children with us and we are scared.”
Santisas was among the more than one million people evacuated from the typhoon’s expected path to keep them safe from storm surges.
Despite the evacuations, no casualties were reported, although the typhoon’s strong winds damaged homes, schools and commercial buildings in Catanduanes, civil defence chief Ariel Nepomuceno told Reuters.
Man-Yi, the sixth tropical cyclone to hit the Philippines in a month, is hurtling towards southern and central areas of Luzon.
“Pepito is forecast to slightly weaken as a typhoon prior to its second landfall,” state weather agency PAGASA said in a statement, using the storm’s domestic name, as it urged precautionary measures.
“Significant weakening will occur during the passage of this tropical cyclone over mainland Luzon today.”
The highest storm alert has also been declared for eastern parts of the islands of Polillo and Calaguas.
Winds had weakened in the Catanduanes town of Virac and the rain had eased to a drizzle, allowing some of those who had sought shelter to return home, provincial disaster officer Roberto Monterola told DZBB radio.

Biden, Xi agree that humans, not AI, should control nuclear arms
US President Joe Biden (L) speaks with ******** President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Lima, Peru, November 16, 2024.
Leah Millis | Afp | Getty Images
U.S. President Joe Biden and ******** President Xi Jinping agreed on Saturday that human beings and not artificial intelligence should make decisions over the use of nuclear weapons, according to the White House.
“The two leaders affirmed the need to maintain human control over the decision to use nuclear weapons,” the White House said in a statement. “The two leaders also stressed the need to consider carefully the potential risks and develop AI technology in the military field in a prudent and responsible manner.”
An official ******** government summary of the meeting echoed this point. The ******** foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
It was not clear whether the statement would lead to further talks or action on the issue. But it marks a first-of-its-kind step between the two countries in the discussion of two issues on which progress has been elusive: nuclear arms and artificial intelligence.
Washington has been pushing Beijing for months to break a longstanding resistance to nuclear arms talks.
The two countries briefly resumed official-level talks over nuclear arms in November but those negotiations have since stalled, with a top U.S. official publicly expressing frustration regarding China’s responsiveness.
Formal nuclear arms control negotiations have not been expected any time soon, despite U.S. concerns about China’s rapid nuclear weapons build-up, even though semi-official exchanges have resumed.
On artificial intelligence, China and the ******* States launched their first formal bilateral talks on the issue in May in Geneva, but those talks are not believed to have touched on nuclear weapons decision-making.
The U.S. defense department estimated last year that Beijing has 500 operational nuclear warheads and will probably field more than 1,000 by 2030.
That compares to 1,770 and 1,710 operational warheads deployed by the ******* States and Russia, respectively. The Pentagon said that by 2030, much of Beijing’s weapons would probably be held at higher levels of readiness.
Since 2020, China has also modernized its nuclear program, starting production of its next-generation ballistic missile submarine, testing hypersonic glide vehicle warheads and holding regular nuclear-armed sea patrols.
Weapons on land, in the air and at sea give China the “nuclear triad” – a hallmark of a major nuclear power.
China has not formally detailed its arsenal but officially maintains a policy of no first use and maintaining a modern nuclear deterrence that is minimal. Officials this year urged other powers to adopt the same stance.
In recent semi-official exchanges with U.S. scholars and retired officials, ******** academics said its policies remained unchanged and described Western assessments as “exaggerations.”
The Biden administration updated classified nuclear guidance this year, and a White House spokesperson previously said the update was “not a response to any single entity, country, nor threat,” despite oft-expressed concern about the nuclear arsenals of China, North Korea and Russia.

World Of Warcraft Prominently Displayed At The U.W. Vs U.C.L.A. Game

@Knushwood
It was the novelty of it at the time. DLC like that was unheard of in console gaming. We didn’t know we were opening Pandora’s box.
It was good for a little while until it started being exploited by greedy executives and lazy publishers.
Initially, having the ability to fix a bug that slipped by quality control was a good thing.
It eventually became a crutch to rush out unfinished games to cash in and fix it later (only if enough people bought your broken game).
Even in Oblivion, it wasn’t predatorial yet. Horse armor seemed more like a proof of concept than anything. Then we got proper story DLC(again, a concept unheard of in console gaming) for the game.
Again, it was a good time for a while. I believe that when executives saw the massive revenues that can be had from mobile games nickel and diming, they jumped in with both feet.
Sad really. They had a good thing going, but it’s never enough.

Cosmic Survey Reveals Surge of ****** Holes in Dwarf Galaxies
Cosmic Survey Reveals Surge of ****** Holes in Dwarf Galaxies
A recent cosmic census has revealed an unexpected threefold rise in active ****** holes within dwarf galaxies, creating the most extensive database of intermediate-mass ****** holes recorded to date. This survey, conducted with the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) at the Mayall Telescope in Arizona, identified over 2,500 ****** holes in dwarf galaxies—more than triple the previously estimated number. Led by University of Utah astronomer Ragadeepika Pucha, the research team discovered that around 2 per cent of the nearly 115,000 surveyed dwarf galaxies contain ****** holes actively consuming matter. Previously, only 0.5 per cent of these galaxies were believed to host such ****** holes.
Unveiling Middleweight ****** Holes in the Cosmos
The survey has also increased the number of intermediate-mass ****** ***** candidates—those with masses between 100 and one million times that of the sun. With almost 300 new middleweight candidates identified, the known population has quadrupled from just 70. These findings are important for understanding ****** ***** evolution, as middleweight ****** holes are seen as a bridge between stellar-mass ****** holes, formed from collapsing stars, and supermassive ****** holes, which are often found at the centres of larger galaxies. According to Pucha, this newly documented group of ****** holes offers clues into how early ****** holes may have evolved through gradual cosmic mergers.
Insights into Galaxy and ****** ***** Co-Evolution
The unprecedented increase in detected ****** holes brings fresh opportunities to study the connection between galaxies and the ****** holes within them. As Dr Stéphanie Juneau from NOIRLab, a co-author of the study, remarks, the discovery raises fundamental questions about the evolution of galaxies and their ****** holes. It ******** unclear whether galaxies formed first, subsequently creating ****** holes, or if ****** holes seeded galaxy growth.
Future of Cosmic Exploration with DESI
DESI’s findings open new chapters in understanding galactic evolution. Expected to release more detailed findings in 2025, the DESI project has already mapped 1.5 million galaxies, creating a vast 3D map that enables astronomers to probe dimmer galaxies that previously eluded detailed study. Astrophysicist Mallory Molina of Vanderbilt University, though not directly involved in the study, noted the transformative impact of the data, highlighting DESI’s ability to detect numerous ****** holes, even with basic observational tools, suggesting the potential for further discoveries.

*********** bowling great Glenn McGrath urges Aussies to go after “emotional” Virat Kohli
*********** bowling great Glenn McGrath urges Aussies to go after “emotional” Virat Kohli
*********** bowling great Glenn McGrath has urged Australia to use attacking mind games against an “emotional” and out-of-form Virat Kohli.
McGrath, well known for throwing early jabs at touring teams through the media in his playing days, said the pressure on the Indian megastar was so great a poor start to the upcoming cutthroat Border-Gavaskar Trophy series could see him crumble.
In the recent record-breaking whitewash humiliation at the hands of New Zealand on their home turf, Kohli averaged just 15, and has only registered a half century once in the past 10 Test digs.
However, the middle-order run machine averages over 50 on *********** shores and enters the series with a dangerous point to prove.
McGrath suggested the Aussies needed to get on top of Kohli early and could do it through his heart-on-sleeve emotions.
“If they go hard at him, if he gets in the ****** with emotions, there’s a bit of chat out there, who knows he might sort of lift. But I think he’s probably under pressure a little bit, and if he has a couple of low scores to start with, he could really feel it. I think he’s quite an emotional player. When he’s up, he’s up, and when he’s down, he sort of struggles a little bit,” he told the Herald Sun.
“You look at that series against New Zealand recently, where the three Tests he only made 90 odd runs, his top score was 70. So it was a pretty lean series. He’d be under pressure a little bit. He’s probably feeling it as well.
“So if Australia can start well and bowl well to knock him over the first Test match, that could sort of set up the whole series for us. So I think that’s the first Test is pretty important.”
McGrath added the loss against New Zealand, which snapped a home-series winning streak that dated back to 2012, made perfect ammunition for the veteran *********** fielders.
“Without a doubt, especially after coming off a 3-0 loss against New Zealand, you’ve got plenty of ammunition to back yourself up,” he said.
“So put the pressure on them and see if they’re up for it.”
However, divisive former Test opener David Warner said in a Herald Sun column it could go the other way, with the pressure inspiring Kohli to even greater heights than he’s already achieved.
“People want to write Virat off after India’s disastrous 3-0 Test series loss to New Zealand this month, but I’m actually worried for Australia,” Warner wrote.
“This is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and we know Virat always steps up in Australia and completely embraces that challenge like almost no one else who has ever visited our shores.
Camera IconDavid Warner. Credit: Brendon Thorne/Getty Images
“There is no better way for him to come out and shut the critics up. I’m genuinely worried for the *********** cricket team that he’s going to come out and pile on some runs.”
He went on to add *********** superstar Steve Smith was in a similar spot, and the battle between him and Kohli for batting supremacy could decide who takes home the Trophy.

Dozens of diners report illnesses after eating at Boise-area restaurant in past two weeks
Dozens of diners report illnesses after eating at Boise-area restaurant in past two weeks
It’s long been the Bartlett family’s tradition to order food from Costa Vida before watching a Boise State football game together. They didn’t know that following dinner and Boise State’s win over San Diego State on Nov. 1, they would begin feeling violently ill.
That night, all six family members who had eaten food from the Costa Vida on South Innovation Lane in Meridian began to experience intense vomiting, abdominal cramping and diarrhea within three hours of one another, according to Jennifer Bartlett.
The two who picked up food from a different Costa Vida location were the only ones who felt fine.
“I’m a nurse, so I’ve dealt with a lot,” Bartlett, 50, told the Idaho Statesman by phone. “I honestly have never in my life seen anything so violent. It hit so fast. There was really no warning that you were getting *****.”
Customers report symptoms after eating at Costa Vida
Between Nov. 2 and Nov. 13, food safety tracking platform iwaspoisoned.com received 54 reports of people experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms shortly after eating at the South Innovation location. The website helps public health agencies and food brands discover potential food-poisoning clusters. Some users reported having to go to the ER for gastrointestinal issues within 24 hours.
“State or local epidemiology (if they choose to investigate) will have the final say on what the exact issue is,” Patrick Quade, the website’s founder and CEO, said by email. “It can’t be explained away as a seasonal bug in the area. We would see a broad rise for data in the area, not a singular spike associated with one facility.”
Central District Health said it received 14 reports of food poisoning between Nov. 3 and Nov. 13, with some reports including multiple people. The government health district, which includes Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley counties, said it’s uncommon to see that many reports for a restaurant in the area.
“This number of reports is unusually high, which is why we acted right away,” Maria Ortega, communications manager at Central District Health, said. “We are not aware of any other large clusters of suspected foodborne illnesses.”
The district is investigating whether the illnesses were caused by food poisoning and has sent inspectors out several times since Nov. 3, Ortega said.
Ortega said the district did not receive any reports for other Costa Vida locations and has not seen a general increase in food-poisoning reports elsewhere in the area. There were no previous reports of foodborne illnesses at this location, according to the district.
Customers visit a Costa Vida location in Idaho.
Restaurant owner says he is working to ensure food safety
Founded in Utah in 2003, Costa Vida has more than 90 locations nationwide. The fast-casual restaurants specialize in ******** food with made-to-order items like tortillas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, salads and nachos.
Gayle Menlove visited the South Innovation Costa Vida with her three ****** daughters on Nov. 4. The next day, all three who ordered a salad began feeling *****, with fevers, stomach cramping and “a lot of turmoil in the digestive tract,” Menlove said.
“I won’t describe anything, but the word violent did come up,” Menlove said. “It was just a horrific kind of reaction.”
Her daughters’ husbands wanted to take them to an emergency room, but they didn’t feel able to get out of bed or be away from a bathroom that long, according to Menlove.
“I crawled into bed, and I just didn’t eat a thing all day, not a single crumb,” Menlove said. “I only could tolerate a couple of sips of water.”
Despite the experience, she said she’ll eat there again.
“Restaurants do their best,” Menlove said. “I know they don’t want to make anyone *****.”
Costa Vida offers a variety of fast-casual options.
Locally, all six Treasure Valley Costa Vidas are owned by two brothers and their father. The South Innovation Lane location held its grand opening Sept. 19.
Owner Chase Wagstaff said he has been making sure “no stone is left unturned” to ensure the best food-safety practices are followed at the new Meridian location. The restaurant’s food-safety procedures include a signed employee agreement not to work while *****, wearing gloves, handwashing and sanitizing, Wagstaff said. He said Costa Vida restaurants do a complete inventory turnover every two days.
“We had a couple employees that came to work not feeling well, but they were sent home pretty quickly,” Wagstaff said by phone. “We’re doing everything that we can to make sure that we are not the culprit.”
Wagstaff said neither the restaurant nor health inspectors were able to immediately identify anything that could be causing sickness. He wondered if people were inaccurately attributing a seasonal stomach bug to eating at Costa Vida. Whatever the case, Wagstaff said he is trying to ensure all health precautions are taken.
The company sent an additional message to employees asking them to report if they feel ill.
“We’ve been running restaurants for a very long time,” said Wagstaff, who opened the Treasure Valley’s first Costa Vida in 2012. “This is the first time we’ve had anything close to this happen. It’s not confirmed, but with those very small handful of reports around the same time, it’s not something that you can take lightly, even if there’s nothing obvious that could be the culprit in our restaurant.”

Renshaw century helps Bulls thwart Tigers’ victory push
Renshaw century helps Bulls thwart Tigers’ victory push
Queensland opener Matthew Renshaw reminded Test selectors that he is no spent force with a vital century to frustrate Tasmania’s quest for a Sheffield Shield victory.
The 28-year-old had been the forgotten man in the debate over who should open for Australia in the India series before Nathan McSweeney ultimately got the nod but his unbeaten 120 for the Bulls has sent a message about his class.
Queensland finished day three on 7-274 and need 37 runs to avoid the follow-on with a day remaining.
A lack of Shield runs had been Renshaw’s problem in recent times but his approach on the third day at Allan Border Field was one of confidence as he led a Bulls fightback.
The former Test opener’s first boundary, a delightful whip through mid-on, came after he walked out of his crease to meet the ball with purpose.
He continued in that vein and brought up his 22nd first-class century with a punch through cover to the boundary.
Renshaw said he had taken steps to block out the hype around Australia’s opening slot.
“Deleting a lot of apps and not reading any news has been a big one,” he told AAP.
“It feels like every summer there is a circus about something and it is usually about the openers because *********** cricket wants another opener.
“I am really happy for Nathan. I think he is going to do a terrific job but for us openers I think (the decision) last week might have hurt a lot of us.
“We know how tough opening is and the satisfaction of batting for a long ******* of time is why we do the job, facing the toughest bowlers with a brand new ball at their freshest.”
Renshaw said he had ultimate belief he would add to his 14 Tests for Australia.
“Definitely. I feel like I am not too far away,” he said.
“Obviously timing is huge in cricket. I missed my time on this occasion but there will be another time in the future when I have to be ready.
“This is my 10th season now and it feels like I have been through it seven or eight times about this Test spot. I feel like I am getting better and I am happy with where my game is at.
“I felt really good the last few games but every time I have got to the spot where I wanted to I got out, so today once I got in I wanted to make sure I committed to the way I want to play.
“Having good intent really helped me today. I have been drilling into myself that I am a player able do the job in any conditions against any team.
“I had been trusting that something magic was around the corner and today was that magic.”
Renshaw had willing allies in Ben McDermott (35), the ever-reliable Jimmy Peirson (37) and 19-year-old seamer Tom Straker (30no).
Most of day two was washed out but Tasmania elected to continue from their overnight 5-394 in pursuit of quick runs and were bowled out for 461.
Allrounder Beau Webster (42 off 60 ******) upped the ante as wickets tumbled.
Bulls opening bowlers Mark Steketee (3-132) and Straker (4-87) did the damage and allowed the hosts to start their innings before lunch.

According to DigiTimes Asia, some of Auras’ crucial cooling components, like cold plates and manifolds, have already been included in Nvidia’s recommended supplier list and are already being adopted by some AIB partners for the upcoming GeForce RTX 50-series (codenamed Blackwell) GPUs, which will rival the best graphics cards.
Taiwan-based cooling company Auras Technology Co., Ltd., one of the manufacturers that supply cooling components for discrete graphics cards, claims that Nvidia’s RTX 50-series GPUs may “seize the whole market starting in December.” Its chairman, Yu-Shen Lin, made this statement during its earning call last November 13, and they said that the company expects demand for its cooling products to grow across the PC, GPU, and server markets next year.
This news might be exciting for those looking forward to Nvidia’s latest graphics cards, which reportedly consume over 450 watts. If that power demand is genuine, the 50-series GPUs will likely run hotter than the previous-generation GPUs, requiring more robust cooling solutions. However, despite Auras’ (and some hardware leakers) December prediction, most indicators still point to a January 2025 launch. It is especially likely, given that Jensen Huang will be the CES 2025 keynote speaker, and there’s no better place to launch your next-generation product than at one of the world’s biggest consumer electronics trade shows.
Aside from the launch date of Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs, the company also made some healthy predictions about the state of the PC and server market next year. The company says that server-related revenue is expected to grow by 130% due to increasing sales of water-cooling systems designed for AI servers. It also expects the demand for display card cooling to grow by double digits with the launch of the RTX 50 series, while the PC sector is expected to see more ************* numbers.
Overall, Auras expects to grow by over 50% in 2025, so it’s considering expanding its presence in Mexico, adding to its existing manufacturing facilities in China, Taiwan, and Thailand.
As for its December prediction, we think Lin made this statement as the company will likely deliver cooling components for cards that month. It will help ensure that there will be enough supply for the market when Nvidia reportedly launches its latest line of graphics cards in January 2025.

Is this (finally) the end for X? Delicate Musk-Trump relationship and growing rivals spell trouble for platform | X
Is this (finally) the end for X? Delicate Musk-Trump relationship and growing rivals spell trouble for platform | X
Was that the week that marked the ****** of X? The platform formerly regarded as a utopian market square for exchanging information has suffered its largest exodus to date.
Bluesky, emerging as X’s newest rival, has amassed 16 million users, including 1 million in the course of 24 hours last week. Hundreds of thousands of people have quit the former Twitter since Donald Trump’s election victory on 6 November.
The catalyst is X’s owner, Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, who transformed the social media site and used it as a megaphone to blast Trump into the White House.
The US president-elect said Musk would head the new Department of Government Efficiency, the acronym for which, Doge, is a pun on the dog internet meme and the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, started as a joke by its creators, which jumped in value after Musk dubbed it “the people’s cypto” in 2021.
Musk now sits at the heart of the US government, yet requires no Senate approval for his actions and can continue to work in the private sector. He’s allowed to keep X and his 204 million followers, as well as head his electric car company Tesla and rocket company SpaceX. For the first time in history, a big tech billionaire is now shaping democracy not just indirectly, via his media, but directly.
“I’m not aware of any precedent for this approach,” said Rob Enderle, president of the technology analyst firm Enderle, who has worked with companies including Microsoft, Sony and Dell.

As recently as 2022, Musk tweeted that “for Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral, which effectively means upsetting the far right and the far left equally.” He tweeted that “Trump would be 82 at end of his term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the ******* States of America.”
Months later, when Musk bought Twitter for $44bn, he fired content moderators and charged for account verification, which meant people could buy influence. Twitter was rebranded to X, shed millions of users and reinstated Trumps’s account, suspended after the White House insurrection in January 2021.
The proliferation on X of alt-right diatribe, hate speech and bots, as well as Musk’s own clash with the *** government during the riots in August, have led to mounting disquiet among X users. The Guardian and Observer announced last week that their presence on the site was now untenable and they would no longer post. Stephen King, the author, left, saying it had become “too toxic”. Oscar-winners Barbra Streisand and Jamie Lee Curtis have departed the platform.
“X has become effectively Truth Social premium,” said Mark Carrigan, author of Social Media for Academics, referring to Trump’s hard-right social media platform. And the talk in technology circles is that Trump’s Truth Social could be folded into X.
If that happens, whose interests take priority? Would Musk suppress criticism of the authoritarian governments he does business with, or promote it? In the Donald and Elon media show, who is the puppet or paymaster?
“If that happens, it will be the ultimate amplification machine for Trump’s ideas – a political super-app masquerading as social media,” said James Kirkham of Iconic, which advises brands including Uber and EA Sports on digital strategies. “Forget Facebook or Fox News; the true heart of the GOP’s digital strategy could be X.”
“I’m expecting X and Truth Social to merge,” said Enderle. “But this could be one of the efforts that will come between Musk and Trump, given how overvalued Truth Social now is.”
The bromance between the world’s two biggest egos is mutually beneficial only as long as the two transactional, power-hungry and impulsive men play nice. Trump is hawkish on China, one of Tesla’s most lucrative markets. Trump essentially campaigned against electric car manufacturing. Trump is protectionist; Musk opposes tariffs. On climate change, they are opposed.
Jonathan Monten, a political science professor at UCL, is sceptical over the durability of their relationship.“Musk’s use to Trump was both private money and providing a platform, or using a platform, to a more favourable pro-Trump line,” he said.
“It’s unclear what continued purpose or use Musk actually has to him. Yes, it’s sort of this celebrity story, but that’s Trump’s brand. He has one celebrity story today and tomorrow we’ll have another.”The early 2010s were the halcyon days of Twitter when activists, artists, lawyers, academics, policymakers, journalists and specialists of every flavour could connect, share information, exchange ideas and follow events in real time.

It would be easy to portray Musk as the bogeyman, but some argue that it was TikTok and the advent of the algorithmic timeline that fundamentally destroyed Twitter. As social media began optimising for scale and for profit at the expense of user experience, algorithms prioritised the “best” content – the content that shouted loudest or was most specifically tailored to users. Curated accounts to follow, and “most recent” content, fell by the wayside.
“As much as I think Musk has acted in harmful ways, I think part of this is about the logic of social media platforms as they evolve,” said Carrigan. “The consequences of an advertising-based model incentivise certain ways of organising the platform that create negative effects.”
Bluesky, which became the most popular app on the app store on Friday, is the choice for X refugees, although its 16 million users pale in insignificance compared to Meta’s Threads, which reported reaching 275 million monthly active users, and X with about 317 million..

For some tech nerds, the X-odus is not something to mourn, but could herald the era of decentralised social networks they have been dreaming of known as the “Fediverse”.
Advocates of the “Fediverse” argue that there should be one account for any social media network in the same way that Gmail accounts can email any email addresses, or mobile numbers call users on any other network.
In walling off social networks so users can’t leave, the platform has the power. Instead, newer social networks including Bluesky are being built on “ecosystems” that enable them to interconnect.
No one knows what will happen to X, with predictions ranging from collapse, to flipping to an anti-Trump platform if Musk and the president lock horns, to becoming a training ground for Musk’s xAI venture. AI could gobble up social media, and xAI is valued at $40bn – almost the price Musk paid for Twitter.

The real reason Chris Wallace is leaving CNN reportedly revealed
The real reason Chris Wallace is leaving CNN reportedly revealed
CNN’s Chris Wallace recently announced he was exiting the network to explore the podcast and streaming landscape. However, it appears there may be more to his departure than meets the eye.
On Monday (November 11), the broadcaster who signed a three-year contract with CNN in 2021 after 18 years with Fox News said he would be leaving the Warner Bros subsidiary.
“When I look at the media landscape right now, the people who are going independent, whether it’s podcasting or streaming, that seems to be where the action is,” the 77-year-old veteran broadcaster told The Daily ******.
“This is the first time in 55 years I’ve been between jobs,” he added. “I am actually excited and liberated by that.”
Wallace’s exit was confirmed shortly thereafter by CNN chief executive Mark Thompson, who called him “one of the most respected political journalists in the news business.”
It’s since been claimed, in a new report published by Puck News, that Wallace’s exit came after he was informed his two shows – Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? and The Chris Wallace Show – were getting canceled and his reported $7m annual salary was going to be massively slashed.
His salary reduction was part of the company’s wider cost-cutting initiatives, according to the outlet. It was also reported that Thompson had told Wallace he was welcome to stay with the network – but as an analyst with a much lower salary.
Chris Wallace announced he was departing from CNN after three years with the network (CNN)
Meanwhile, the three-time Emmy winner and son of 60 Minutes host Mike Wallace insisted that he did not partake in any contract negotiations or conversations about his future with the company.
“It doesn’t matter what was or wasn’t said in that meeting because I had already decided with my wife six months ago to leave CNN,” he told Puck News. “Any further speculation is irrelevant.”
The Independent has contacted CNN for comment. A representative for Wallace was not immediately reachable.
Besides CNN and Fox News, Wallace has worked as a correspondent, anchor and host for several of the major news networks, including ABC, CBS and NBC.
Throughout his decades-long career, he has interviewed global leaders including US Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir ******. He’s also covered major events, such as the Supreme Court hearings for Brett Kavanaugh and Trump’s impeachment.
In 2020, Wallace became the only moderator to return to the debate stage to preside over the Joe Biden vs Donald Trump debate after having made his moderating debut for the final 2016 presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Trump.

A budget-friendly stay near Sydney’s biggest concert venues
A budget-friendly stay near Sydney’s biggest concert venues
Perth still struggles to lure the biggest names in music — with Coldplay being the rare exception, costing Tourism Western Australia a small fortune to pull off.
When acts like Oasis and Billie Eilish land in Australia for their world tours next year (just like Taylor Swift did this year) Perth, once again, won’t make the cut.
Instead, diehard fans will need to make the pilgrimage over east to Sydney or Melbourne if they want to see these acts.
I’ve just been to Sydney for Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour, and I stayed at a quality, no-frills hotel that I think is perfect for music fans who’ve already splashed out on concert tickets and flights.

Rooms at the ibis Budget Sydney Olympic Park Hotel are from $139 per night, certainly under and around $200, though much higher for key event dates.
But, importantly, Accor Stadium, Qudos Bank Arena and Sydney Showground are a short stroll from the hotel, so you don’t have to deal with big crowds and long delays getting home.
There are lots of good food options and a 24-hour supermarket nearby, and rows of food trucks are usually brought in for big-ticket concerts.

It wasn’t the most luxurious hotel I’ve ever stayed in, but my room was clean and comfortable, and the king-sized bed gave me a good night’s sleep.
Being a budget hotel, the room was compact, with the shower and vanity area separated from the main space by just a curtain, though I appreciated that the ******* was enclosed, offering privacy.
Storage was a bit limited, with not much space for my suitcase, though there was a small clothes rack to hang a couple of outfits.
The room came with a bar fridge and a kettle with complimentary tea and coffee, though if you need plates or cutlery, you’ll have to request them at reception. In fact, I ended up asking the friendly staff for a few other things, like a hairdryer, an iron, an ironing board and even the TV remote.
The staff were more than happy to help. They even printed off my concert ticket and played Olivia Rodrigo songs in the lobby and cafeteria, which added excitement to the whole experience.
THE VERDICT
Ultimately, the ibis Budget Sydney Olympic Park Hotel offers a straightforward option for those who’ve already invested heavily in concert tickets and airfares. After the thrill of the concert, there’s comfort in knowing you’re just steps away from a clean, quiet room — without the stress of late-night commutes or wallet-draining accommodation. So, for anyone planning their next interstate pilgrimage to see their favourite artist live, I think it’s a no-brainer to book a room here. All you really need is a cosy bed and a nice cup of tea after an eventful night out.
Penny Thomas was a guest of Accor. They have not influenced or read this story before publication.
