Jimmy Barnes: Legendary *********** rocker to play Riverside Theatre in June as part of Defiant Tour
Jimmy Barnes: Legendary *********** rocker to play Riverside Theatre in June as part of Defiant Tour
Legendary Aussie rocker Jimmy Barnes is back — and he’s coming to Perth.
Fresh off the heels of the 50-year anniversary tour with Cold Chisel, the ‘Working Class Man’ will be back on the road again with his own band in June for the Defiant Tour.
Never one to slow down, Barnes has been working on a new album with tracks from Defiant to drop this week.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back on stage with my band again,” he said. “I’m so proud of this new record — all the songs mean a lot to me and I can’t wait to share them with you. It’s going to be some serious fun!”
Fans will be pleased the 68-year-old — whose health battles saw him hospitalised twice over the last two years — will be back on the stage.
In 2023, Barnes underwent heart surgery to treat a bacterial infection that had spread to a valve in his heart and last August he had hip surgery after experiencing pain during his last tour.
And just last week, he posted on social media that he was back home recovering from further surgery to replace the temporary hip that was fitted just before the Big Five-0 tour.
“I can’t tell you how great it is to be home, to sleep in my own bed,” Barnes posted on X. “Thank you to the medical teams at St Vincent’s and St Luke’s hospitals who have got me back on my own two feet.
“My @jane13barnes who’s been by my side the entire time. You guys cheering me on. Waiting for me at home was The Saints’ box set, a gift from Ed Kuepper, I can’t wait to play it. Support at every turn, I’m grateful.”
Barnes will play the Riverside Theatre on June 8. Tickets go on ***** on February 28.

Helldivers 2 Giving One Terminid Enemy a Long Range Weapon Will Break Democracy
Helldivers 2 Giving One Terminid Enemy a Long Range Weapon Will Break Democracy
The Helldivers 2 community has been struggling to keep up with the brand-new enemies that have recently appeared on the battlefield. Most players agree that out of all the factions, Terminids are the easiest faction to take down, but that’s primarily because most of their units rely on close combat, but what happens if Terminid units came with some sort of cannon? A player recently pitched in this idea, and it seems like the community is ready to face this fanmade unit.

Recently, Super Earth announced that a new Terminid strain, known as the Predator Strain, has appeared on Terminid-infested planets. These new enemies not only look different but are also much more intelligent and use different hunting techniques.
The Terminid faction will be almost impossible to take down if Arrowhead Game Studios adds this one unit to Helldivers 2
A player on the r/helldivers2 subreddit has shared an AI-generated image that showcases a Terminid unit with a cannon attached to its back. The post sparked debates among the community if the addition of this unit would make the game much more difficult.

It’s clear that the community is ready for the game to become more challenging. Over the past few weeks, many players have complained that the game has become too easy, especially due to the addition of a brand-new weapon that is capable of inflicting 4,500 damage in a single shot.
Some Terminid units are capable of taking shots from a distance but a unit like this that is capable of shooting down players from a long distance would spice things up. Automatons and Illuminates, both have some strong units that can literally annihilate players, so it would be fair for Terminids to have one such unit as well.
Arrowhead Game Studios has tried to make the Terminid faction stronger

A recent announcement from Super Earth has put the spotlight on the Terminid faction once again as it seems like new enemies have emerged due to mutations. Initially appearing on Fenrir III, the Predator Strain is full of Terminid units that are much stronger than regular units. This seems to be just the beginning as many players have been complaining that Helldivers 2 has become too easy.
On top of this, Mikael Eriksson, the game’s director, has revealed in the past in an interview with IGN that the initial Illuminate invasion involved the Illuminate Vanguard Fleet, so stronger Illuminate enemies are yet to appear on the battlefield. In all fairness, it is valid to make the game difficult because players who find it too difficult can always lower the difficulty, but players who find the game too easy just can’t do anything.

He was once Elon Musk’s biggest believer. Now he’s doubling down on why Tesla stock will feel serious pain in 2025.
He was once Elon Musk’s biggest believer. Now he’s doubling down on why Tesla stock will feel serious pain in 2025.
Emma McIntyre / Staff/Getty Images
Ross ******* was an early investor in Tesla, buying in before the stock boomed.
But he’s gotten increasingly outspoken about issues he sees with Elon Musk and Tesla, and has sold shares.
******* outlined for *** four reasons why he expects Tesla shares to fall as much as 50% in 2025.
Tesla shareholder Ross ******* is no stranger to bearish takes on the company, at least lately.
In the middle of last year he revealed that he’d sold about $60 million of Tesla shares on concerns its vehicles were fading in popularity. Then, after Donald Trump’s election victory, ******* said in early December that Tesla would see minimal positive impact, if any, from Elon Musk’s association with the president.
The warnings now seem prescient. After an initial post-election surge, Tesla shares are down 16% so far in 2025, and sit roughly 4% lower since *******’s December comments.
It’s a trend ******* sees continuing amid a collection of familiar issues, including a lofty valuation, worries about the company’s Full Self-Driving capabilities, and the knock-on effects of Musk’s unpredictable behavior.
In new interview with Business Insider, ******* took his bearishness even further, outlining why he sees Tesla vulnerable to a drawdown of as much as 50%.
To his credit, ******* — who is the president and CEO of ******* Kawasaki Wealth & Investment Management — has had no issue putting his money where his mouth is. He reduced his firm’s Tesla stake by 31% in 2024, regulatory filings show, leaving him with 262,000 Tesla shares worth $106 million at the end of last year.
Detailed below are four reasons informing *******’s expectation for a rough year for Tesla:
******* sees a disaster for Tesla stock this year because Musk’s June target of launching an autonomous taxi network in Austin, Texas is too ambitious.
“All of this stuff is going to come to roost this year because he put this deadline on full self driving working in a couple months. It almost seems impossible for that to happen,” ******* told ***.
According to *******, the core issue is that Tesla’s autonomous driving platform doesn’t use the LIDAR sensors that other driverless systems, like Alphabet’s Waymo, rely on. Instead, it uses cameras.
“We’re well behind in robotaxi and autonomy, there’s no question now,” ******* said, adding that he thinks Waymo’s approach is “a safer system.”
“I’m in the camp now that you need LIDAR to have a safe enough system for Full Self-Driving,” he said. “They’re going to run into a wall, where they can’t get better unless they change the hardware.”
Story Continues
From running several companies, including Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI, to posting prolifically on X, to spearheading government efficiency efforts at DOGE, to being the father to 11 kids, it’s safe to say there might not be enough time in the day for Musk.
******* thinks that’s a problem for Tesla shareholders, especially considering Musk’s sole focus in recent months appears to have been AI.
“His 100% focus is on AI, and that’s really a detriment to Tesla more than it’s a plus for xAI and all the other businesses because he doesn’t work at Tesla anymore,” ******* said.
“If he were putting all of his time into full self-driving, I’d feel a lot more confident about Tesla.”
While investor hype around Tesla focuses on its autonomous and robotic ambitions, selling cars remains its core business, and that’s starting to slow.
Last year marked Tesla’s first annual decline in EV sales. After forecasting 20%-30% growth in 2025, management has since said on its latest earnings call that it expects a “return to growth.”
For *******, increasing competition from BYD, the largest EV maker in the world based out of China, is a real threat to Tesla’s EV business outside the US.
“Xi has made it very clear that he wants ******** tech and EV companies to succeed, not Tesla,” ******* said. “BYD is such a good company, everybody in the emerging markets are buying BYDs.”
Tesla sold almost 1 million vehicles in China last year.
The other threat to Tesla is Musk’s close association with President Donald Trump.
“What this does is it creates this anger. I’ve never seen this anger towards Tesla, but it’s not toward Tesla as the company, it’s because of Elon, this is the only way people can take it out,” ******* explained.
Singer Sheryl Crow posted a video to Instagram this week waving goodbye to her Tesla, which she sold in protest.
“There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla,” Crow wrote on Instagram.
The trend could be picking up steam outside the US, with the Financial Times reporting that Tesla’s January vehicle sales plunged 63% in France, 60% in Germany, and 38% in Norway.
“We’ve got to sell cars, and people just don’t want them anymore,” ******* said.
Tesla has always traded at a premium valuation relative to other automakers and its mega-cap tech peers, but if Tesla’s slowdown in vehicle sales continues, that premium could diminish considerably.
At a $1.1 trillion market capitalization, Tesla is nearly 5x larger than Toyota despite delivering just 20% of Toyota’s profits last year, according to data from YCharts.
Its forward price-to-earnings ratio of 118x is more than triple that of the next most expensive “Magnificent 7” stock, Nvidia, and is above its five-year average of 84x.
“The issue to me is, I’ve got $100 million in Tesla stock at 125x earnings and it’s not even close to any PE, to any normal Mag 7 stock,” ******* said. “So Tesla’s vulnerability is it could drop by 50% if things don’t work out for it this year. So we sell Tesla stock. We still have tons of it and we sell it because we think it’s pretty overvalued.”
Some major Wall Street firms may agree with *******. JPMorgan was bearish on Tesla’s latest earnings release. Despite an initial burst of enthusiasm from investors, the bank said it is sticking with a $135 price target for Tesla stock, representing potential downside of 60% from current levels.

F1 chiefs condemn booing of Verstappen and Horner
F1 chiefs condemn booing of Verstappen and Horner
Formula One’s governing body has urged fans to show more respect after ‘tribalist’ booing of four-times champion Max Verstappen and his Red Bull boss Christian Horner at a 10-team season launch.
The FIA was also booed by the crowd, whose biggest cheer was reserved for Britain’s seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton, at the event attended by more than 15,000 fans at London’s O2 Arena last Tuesday.
Horner, who has steered Red Bull to six constructors’ world titles and eight drivers’ crowns since 2010, has become a target for some fans for his starring role in the Netflix docu-series Drive to Survive.
The Briton was also in the headlines last year after accusations of inappropriate behaviour, of which he was cleared, were made by a female employee.
Verstappen’s controversial 2021 title win, his first, has also made the Dutch driver a target of Hamilton fans who feel their hero was robbed of an eighth title by the FIA-appointed race director.
“Great rivalries throughout the history of motorsport have contributed to making it such an exciting experience for fans,” an FIA spokesperson said in a statement issued on Saturday.
“But what underpins sport at all levels is a culture of respect.
“As such, it was disappointing to hear the crowd’s tribalist reaction to Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team principal and CEO Christian Horner at the F1 launch in London.
“Max and Christian have both contributed greatly to the sport we love. In the season ahead we should not lose sight of that.”
The FIA is leading a coalition tackling online abuse in sport and the spokesperson said the governing body urged the sporting community to consider the impact of their actions online and offline.
The FIA’s World Motor Sport Council is due to hold its first session of the year virtually on Wednesday, also the first day of Formula One’s pre-season testing in Bahrain, and could discuss the matter then.
Verstappen’s father Jos told Dutch media the booing was unacceptable and his son had no appetite to attend further such events in England.
Hamilton has also experienced booing abroad, as have other British drivers, while Verstappen has been jeered by crowds at Silverstone.
The world champion and new teammate Liam Lawson did not speak on stage at the O2, leaving Horner to address the crowd at the first event of its kind. They did speak to reporters before the event, however.

If you’re an avid Aldi shopper (or hope to be one), then you’ll want to listen up. The grocer plans to open more locations in 2025 than it ever has in one calendar year in its five decades of operating in the United States. If you don’t have a store near you, that could all change in a few months.
A few days ago, Aldi announced plans to open over 225 new stores in 2025. So, if your nearby location always has long lines — or if you don’t have one close to you — this expansion could change and improve your shopping trips.
“This is the most stores Aldi will open in one year in its nearly 50-year U.S. history as more shoppers than ever look to save up to 36% on an average shopping trip,” the grocery chain said in a press release. This plan to increase the number of locations in the U.S. is part of the company’s five-year national growth strategy, which aims to open nearly 800 stores nationwide by 2028.
In 2025, Aldi locations will open in new buildings and select converted Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket locations the brand added to its portfolio when it acquired Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys. While the company hasn’t revealed the exact addresses yet, its press release notes that nearly 220 Southeastern Grocers stores — which have the potential to span Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Puerto Rico — will be transformed into Aldi locations through 2027.
“Aldi continues to see more shoppers come through our doors as they experience our quicker, easier, and more affordable shopping experience firsthand,” Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi, said in a press release. “With our expansion across the country, Aldi is earning the trust of more shoppers in more communities than ever before, bringing us closer to becoming America’s first stop for groceries,” Hart added.
In the future, Aldi plans to expand its presence in the Northeast, Midwest, West, Southern California, and Arizona and to enter new communities like Las Vegas. So if you’ve been waiting for an Aldi to open up in your community, 2025 might be your year. Just don’t forget your cart quarter!

Clues and answer for Saturday, February 22
Clues and answer for Saturday, February 22
Hey, there! We hope your weekend is off to a great start. We’re here to help make sure your Wordle streak keeps going for at least one more day. In case you need it, here’s our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Saturday’s puzzle (#1,344).
It may be that you’re a Wordle newcomer and you’re not completely sure how to play the game. We’re here to help with that too.
What is Wordle?
Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. The gist is that there is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone.
Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox
See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories.
Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game’s success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats.
The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it’s little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily.
How to play Wordle
To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day’s secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren’t in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard.
You’ll only have six guesses to find each day’s word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It’s also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once.
Wordle is free to play on the NYT’s website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak.
How to play Wordle more than once a day
If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication’s games, you don’t have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You’ll have access to an archive of more than 1,300 previous Wordle games. So if you’re a relative newcomer, you’ll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions.
In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day’s game.

Nat Locke: What my recent hit-and-miss stand-up comedy shows have taught me about success and failure
Nat Locke: What my recent hit-and-miss stand-up comedy shows have taught me about success and failure
Today, I’m celebrating failure. I mean, success is great and thoroughly worthy of the accolades attributed to it, but failure often gets shoved into the shadows, cloaked in shame and blinding humiliation. But I’m here to tell you that the troughs of failure make the peaks of success that much sweeter. Sometimes we take success for granted and a dose of failure can give us some perspective.
And yes, there is a personal story to go along with this. Settle in.
You see, I’d had some great triumphs recently. I fronted my own Fringe World show (for one night only) where I performed stand-up and introduced some outstandingly funny friends to perform as well. It was a hit. Everyone loved it. Oh, the giddy highs.
Camera IconNat Locke performs at her Fringe show. Credit: Samuel England
And then came the giant slice of perspective just a week later. I was doing a 10-minute stand up spot at a comedy night in Fremantle. I was on after an excellent MC and a very accomplished comedian who lives and performs overseas. And as I was being introduced, while standing at the back of the room, a lady in the back row turned around and I realised in that instant that my brother and sister-in-law were in the audience.
Now, the weird thing is, I don’t actually mind that they were there. It’s just that I was thrown by their presence in that exact moment. Oh, and I was going to tell a couple of stories from my childhood that my brother featured in. I just became inexplicably flustered. I forgot the punchline to my first joke, which meant I forgot the next gag too. I started scrambling, talking too fast, and grabbing wildly at half-formed ideas in the recesses of my mind. Then for a while I just heard a general buzzing in my ears. Who knows what I said then. What I didn’t hear was much laughter.
Yes, I officially bombed.
To make myself feel better, I asked a bunch of very successful comedians about whether they had ever bombed and I’m happy to report that the answer was universally yes.
One comedian told me that they had exchanged messages with someone legitimately famous, who invited them to their comedy gig in Los Angeles. The comedian then proceeded to have an absolute shocker and the celebrity cut all contact for evermore.
Another established comedian performed their one-hour festival show to an audience of five people in a room designed for 50. Disappointingly, 40 per cent of the crowd left 10 minutes in and the remainder sat in stony silence for the duration. It was a long 50 minutes.
And then there was the performer who invited a Tinder date to come and see her show before they went on their second date and then he proceeded to heckle her mercilessly for her entire set.
Yikes. You don’t need me to tell you that the second date didn’t eventuate.
The thing about failure of this ilk is that your instinct is to curl into a ball and/or bury yourself in a deep hole. Basically, you want to be an armadillo. But as cool as armadillos are, it’s not a long-term strategy. Unless you want to live in a hole for the rest of eternity. So your only option really is to dust yourself off (especially if you did actually burrow into the ground) and get back on to the horse, so to speak.
The thing about failure is that it’s really just a lesson in disguise. As my co-worker Shaun McManus is fond of saying “If you’re not winning, you’re learning” and he would know, he played for the Dockers (sorry, I couldn’t help myself). Failure is really just an opportunity to tweak your approach, try new things, be bold and rise from the ashes like the fabulous phoenix that you are.
Of course, persistent failure carries a lesson too. And it’s that maybe your talents lie elsewhere. Otherwise, you end up like those talent-challenged people who find themselves blithely auditioning for *********** Idol when their singing voice sounds like a lightly strangled duck. Somebody should have mentioned it to you before it got to that point, as an act of love.
So, no, I’m not going to let one failure dim my enthusiasm. It turns out I’m in very impressive company, so I’ll wear this one as a badge of honour.
And if you happen to spot an armadillo riding a horse, you’ll know it’s me.

Scottish and *** governments both urged to ‘stand by’ Grangemouth workers
Scottish and *** governments both urged to ‘stand by’ Grangemouth workers
Governments at Holyrood and Westminster have been challenged to “stand by” workers at Scotland’s only oil refinery as it prepares to close.
Roz Foyer, general secretary of the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC), claimed both governments are currently “failing” workers at the Grangemouth plant.
Redundancy notices have already been sent out to hundreds of employees as owners at Petroineos prepare to close the refinery.
MPs were told last year that the plant was expected to lose the company £150 million over 2024.
Ms Foyer insisted there was still a “viable option on the table” for Grangemouth, saying the union Unite had proposed to both the Scottish and *** governments that it could be used to become a production centre for sustainable aviation fuel.
Ms Foyer, who spoke out on the issue as she addressed the Scottish Labour conference in Glasgow, said: “My key message today to both our governments is this – do your jobs. Stand by Scotland’s energy workers.
“If you fail to save the jobs in Grangemouth, if you fail to halt this closure and invest in a real just transition, then you will be failing workers right across Scotland.
“Progressive governments must take a stand against billionaires who treat workers as disposable, against corporations who profit while communities suffer and for a real just transition that protects jobs, industries and livelihoods.”
Her comments came as she told Labour supporters many people are “rightly outraged by the betrayal of Scotland’s workers at Grangemouth”.
She said the site had been a “key test of whether the Scottish and the *** governments could work together to protect jobs, livelihoods and an entire community”.
But Ms Foyer added: “So far, both governments are failing those workers.”
With redundancy notices having been sent three weeks ago, she said the first group of workers would finish up at the plant on April 30, adding: “Out of 425 skilled workers, only 65 are required for Petroineos’s new import terminal.”
She added that closing the refinery could also see a further 2,800 jobs lost in the wider supply chain and cost the local economy more than £400 million.
Story Continues
The proposal to transition the site to make sustainable aviation fuel is a “plan that presents a financially viable way of retaining those jobs and transitioning that refinery now to become a key driver of net zero”, Ms Foyer added
She said: “This is an opportunity that must be grasped, it is one that will protect the security of our national energy infrastructure and yet our governments hesitate to use their full powers to intervene.
“Instead, they wring their hands, they offer us their condolences because the billionaire owners have decided it is not their global interests to keep Scotland’s only refinery open.”
When the closure of the refinery was announced last year, the Scottish and *** governments jointly committed £100 million for the local area and pledged to work together on the Project Willow report on the future of the site.
Acting Scottish Energy Secretary Gillian Martin said the Scottish Government is ‘on the side of Grangemouth and its workforce’ (Andrew Milligan/PA)
More recently, Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney announced a further £25 million to ensure a “just transition” for the area.
Acting Scottish Energy Secretary Gillian Martin said: “The Scottish Government has already shown that we are on the side of Grangemouth and its workforce. We are doing all we can within the limits of our powers and resources.
“That is why this week the First Minister announced an additional £25 million in support, bringing the total we have committed or already invested in Grangemouth to £87 million.
“We are all clear that the *** Government needs to do at least the same and deliver a fair amount to avoid significant economic disruption in central Scotland, and to protect and promote Scotland’s – and Grangemouth’s – future interests.”
She also called on the *** Government to “expedite a decision” on the proposed Acorn carbon capture and storage project in Scotland, and “to make urgent progress on allocating funding for the second round of hydrogen production projects, to help ensure a sustainable future for the wider industrial cluster”.
A Labour Party spokesperson said: “When Labour came to office last year, there were no plans for Grangemouth.
“Within days the *** Labour Government approached the Scottish Government to put together a package of measures. This included £100 million for the Falkirk and Grangemouth growth deal, which will deliver more than £628 million in economic benefits and create 1,660 jobs.
“The *** Labour Government is also putting £26 million into the Forth Green Freeport, with Grangemouth at its heart, to attract investment and well-paid, quality jobs to the area.

French prisoner arrested nine months after deadly van ambush
French prisoner arrested nine months after deadly van ambush
A French convict who went on the run after escaping a police van in a deadly ambush has been arrested in Romania, French authorities have said.
Two prison officers were killed and three others injured when a vehicle carrying Mohamed Amra was attacked by men using military-grade assault weapons in May 2024.
Amra, known as La Mouche, or The Fly, has links to a major drug gang in Marseille, according to French police.
President Emmanuel Macron hailed his capture as “a formidable success” and said his thoughts were with the families of the prison officers who died.
Macron said he also wanted “to thank our European colleagues and French investigators who had been hunting Mohamed Amra for months and months”.
France’s Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau thanked Romania for its “crucial cooperation”.
Amra escaped from a prison van after the vehicle was ambushed by gunmen at a toll booth at around 11:00 (09:00 GMT) on 14 May near Rouen, Normandy.
Two prisoner officers were killed after the van was rammed and shots were fired. Three other officers were injured.
The gunmen escaped in a car which police later found abandoned close to where the attack happened.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said Amra had been convicted of burglary by a court in Evreux on May 10 and was being held at a prison in Val-de-Reuil until his escape on May 14.
He had also been indicted by prosecutors in Marseille for a kidnapping that led to a death, it said.
Amra was not a “closely watched inmate”, prosecutor Laura Beccuau said at the time, using a term for highly dangerous prisoners.
However, his transportation still reportedly required a “level three *******” which meant there were five prison officers travelling with him.
His lawyer at the time, Hugues Vigier, said Amra had attempted to escape prison the weekend before the ambush by sawing the bars of his cell, but said he was shocked by the “inexcusable” and “insane” violence.
“This does not correspond to the impression that I had of him,” the lawyer told BFMTV.
At the time, Macron said “everything” was being done to find the perpetrators of the attack, which marked the first deaths of French prison officers in the line of duty since 1992.
More than 300 investigators were assigned to track Amra down and roadblocks were set up across north-west France, according to police.
“After a manhunt lasting several months, Amra has been arrested, finally!” Prime Minister Francois Bayrou wrote on X on Saturday.

With a Masters Reveal Coming, Riot’s Next Valorant Agent Must Steer Clear of the Mediocrity of a Popular Duelist
With a Masters Reveal Coming, Riot’s Next Valorant Agent Must Steer Clear of the Mediocrity of a Popular Duelist
With Valorant Masters Bangkok being less than a month away, talks of a new agent being introduced in the game have made the entire Valorant fanbase excited. Players of the game are speculating that Riot will finally bless players with a new duelist in the game more than a year later.
The new agent is speculated to be a female duelist | Image Credits: Riot Games
Amidst all the excitement for the new agent, Riot should not forget about their one other duelist who still needs some tweaking even though he was released back in 2021. Let’s delve deeper into who this agent is and what happened to him through the years.
Valorant’s 15th agent is still the most unremarkable in the rooster
Yoru is one of the most fun duelists in the game | Image Credits: Riot Games
The Valorant Masters Bangkok grand finals will take place on March 2 and on the Valorant Champions Tour’s official X (formerly Twitter) page, they announced that a reveal of the new agent will take place just before the finals begin.
The new agent who is currently codenamed Agent 28, was first teased in the Dawn of the Duelist cinematic for the Masters Bangkok. In the teaser video, Tejo is seen messaging this mystery agent while traveling with the rest of the team, and on the other side, Agent 28 is receiving the message that reads “This crew has potential, but they’re not you.”

Although we are still unsure whether the new agent is a duelist or not, there is one duelist in the game who has been suffering since his release, and while he went through a complete rework, fans are still disappointed at the state he is left in currently. We are of course talking about our favorite multi-dimensional Japanese samurai, Yoru.
Yoru is the 15th agent in Valorant and he was released in Act 1 of Episode 2 back in 2021. He is truly the glass cannon of the game, with two flashes, a teleporting ability, and a clone, taking space as Yoru is a literal do-or-die situation in the game. Yoru’s erratic yet sneaky nature contributes to a lot of interesting playstyles that give players the creative freedom to play as Yoru however they want.
While the masked samurai feels like an absolute treat to play, he is not as good as the other duelists in the hero shooter. He has gone through several changes in the past few years for the sake of balancing and currently, he is rather underwhelming in front of the other duelists like Jett, Raze, Reyna, and even Iso.
Most of the patches Yoru went through either buffed him to the gods or nerfed him to dust, and Riot still has not found the perfect balance for him to be at.
Riot Games must not make the same mistake twice
Riot Games must avoid creating a disaster like Yoru again | Image Credits: Riot Games
With all the new agents and maps on the horizon, Riot Games seems to have completely forgotten about Yoru and sort of swept him under the rug. While he may not be a popular pick during competitive matches, Yoru is still among the most fun agents to play in the entire game because of his deceptive capabilities and outplaying potential.
Although it is still unclear whether the new agent will actually be a duelist or not, Riot absolutely needs to learn from their mistake and avoid creating another disaster like Yoru. The developers must strike the right balance between fun and effectiveness so that the new character is viable in competitive play from day one.

Rublev takes Qatar Open title after epic week’s slog
Rublev takes Qatar Open title after epic week’s slog
Russian Andrey Rublev has been given a tough test early on, but ended up with a flourish as he beat Britain’s eighth seed Jack Draper 7-5 5-7 6-1 to win the Qatar Open.
Fifth seed Rublev, who also won the title in 2020, claimed his first tournament win since his triumph at the Madrid Open last April, but was made to battle for the crown, just as he had all week.
In the quarter-finals, he had survived a match point against Alex de Minaur and only prevailed after the *********** had saved seven match points. In the semis, he was taken to another final-set tiebreak against Felix Auger-Aliassime.
“It feels amazing. It’s the first time I’ve won the same title twice,” a delighted Rublev said.
“I’m really happy. I don’t know what else to say.”
The opener went with serve for the first 11 games, with Rublev serving to love on four occasions and Draper twice doing likewise, before the Russian finally broke the Briton to take the first set.
The second set appeared to heading towards a tiebreak when Draper managed to break for a 6-5 lead and served out to level the match.
Draper had never beaten Rublev in their three previous meetings, and went into the deciding set with the wind in his sails, but Rublev showed no mercy.
Rublev broke twice early on to storm into a 5-0 lead and while Draper managed to avoid a bagel, the Russian fired down two aces to wrap up the win.
“I really like Jack as a person and I really like his game. He has a really, really great career and future ahead. He will win many great things,” Rublev said.
Draper failed in his bid to win his third ATP title after winning in Stuttgart and Vienna last year, but the 23-year-old’s run to the final will lift him to a career-high 12th in the rankings.
“He was too good today. Outlasted me,” Draper said.
“We played some really tough matches this week. In the third set he was a bit too strong for me.”

Detroit food distributor shuttering all operations and laying off 1,500
Detroit food distributor shuttering all operations and laying off 1,500
A nationwide distributor of beef, poultry, pork, and dozens of other food products headquartered in Detroit is shutting down all of its operations and facilities across several states, resulting in 1,500 layoffs.
Harvest Sherwood Food Distributors, located in northwest Detroit, has so far issued WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) notices in Michigan, Florida, and Oregon, where it has operations, the Free Press has learned.
Its Detroit operations at 12499 Evergreen Road will shut down and 255 people will be permanently laid off, the company stated in the WARN notice.
“All employees are expected to remain on payroll and benefits through April 21, 2025,” the notice stated.
Calls to the company’s Detroit office were referred to a spokesperson.
Harvest Sherwood employs about 1,500 people across several states with its headquarters in Detroit. All operations are ceasing, a Harvest Sherwood spokesperson confirmed to the Free Press. Its employees were notified by mail or email about the closure. The company plans to focus on liquidating assets, closing facilities, and settling financial obligations, according to the spokesperson.
The Detroit company with a longtime, locally owned history distributes food products, from meats to bakery items to processed meats and other food service items, according to its website. Nationwide, it services more than 6,000 customers, according to its website, which includes retailers, wholesalers, institutional and food service accounts, and cruise lines.
Sherwood Food Distributors got its start in 1969 as Regal Packing Co. by Alex Karp and Earl Ishbia. In 1987, the company name changed to Sherwood Food Distributors. Over the decades, the company grew to be a large nationwide distributor in the meat and food industry. Less than 10 years ago, the company merged with Harvest Food Distributors, a family-run food distributor based at the time in California. Harvest Sherwood, the parent company, was formed by the 2017 merger and Detroit is now headquarters for the overall company.

On its website, the company lists distribution center locations in Detroit, Atlanta, Cleveland, Miami, and Orlando.
The food distribution company ships over 20 million pounds of food products weekly on a fleet of over 250 trucks, its website says, through its network of distribution centers. Its warehouses stock more than 50 categories of food.
At a Harvest Sherwood Food distributor in Portland, Oregon, operating as Western Boxed Meat, 96 people are being laid off, according to an OregonLive.com report. That distributor supplied an area that included Alaska, California, Idaho, Washington, and Guam, according to its website.
The Portland facility is permanently closing April 21 with workers paid until then, according to an Oregon WARN notice.
Harvest Sherwood cited, per oregonlive.com, “rising costs and a diminished market for its products” for the shuttering of all locations. In addition, the company was “seeking funding to avoid or postpone the shutdown but that continuing operations proved unworkable financially,” oregonlive.com wrote.

Adrian Barich: Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr have built a legendary partnership over 40 years at Seven
Adrian Barich: Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr have built a legendary partnership over 40 years at Seven
A special wedding edition of this magazine is a good chance for me to talk about an on-air partnership which is a lot like a marriage — full of mutual respect, occasional eye rolls and the knowledge that, at some point, one of them will inevitably have to finish the other’s sentence.
I think you know who I may be talking about: Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr are entering their 40th year reading the Seven news together and having sat next to them at least 1000 times, I’m in the perfect position to pass comment.
But just in case I needed further input, I’ve consulted with Basil Zempilas who teamed up with the dynamic duo on more than 5000 occasions, and Jeff Newman, who was, for many, many years, also synonymous with this extraordinary duo.
To take the marriage analogy a bit further, there’s a lot of teamwork that goes on with the odd bit of chaos, where working in harmony becomes the key to delivering a seamless news bulletin — along with the shared knowledge that all couples look better if they just agree to smile at the same time.
Then there’s the unspoken rule that if there is a technical hiccup, the best way to deal with it is to pretend it never happened . . . and look fabulous doing it.
Camera IconSusannah Carr and Rick Ardon are marking 40 years of reading the Seven news together. Credit: Daniel Wilkins/TheWest
It’s all about constant collaboration, a bit of silent competition, and the shared hope that the other person (or maybe the sports presenter) doesn’t accidentally say something that could end up as a viral meme.
To give you some insight on how much Rick and Sue care about their job, whoever gets dressed for the news first sets the “colour” scheme for that night. Check out how often Sue’s jacket matches Rick’s tie, and vice versa, at 6pm.
The strength of the combination rivals the best partnerships this State has ever seen. From our perspective, they should be mentioned in the same breath as legendary cricket duo Lillee and Marsh.
And honestly, their example has even given someone like me — a bit of an uncouth ex-footballer — the chance to gain some credibility. Reflected glory, I would call it, for want of a better description. Even Basil admits a lot of his success wouldn’t have happened without Rick and Sue’s magic dust spreading across the news desk.
Incredibly, although many rivals have tried to knock them off over those four decades, they’ve remained the number one team in the west.
Even the Beatles only held the top spot for a total of 132 weeks across their career.
Rick and Sue’s “marriage” has endured through all the fast-paced changes in the industry, and over the entire journey they’ve stayed perfectly in sync. No cold shoulders or silent treatment here — just pure, uninterrupted harmony on screen.
And on a personal note, I’ve had the pleasure of bonding with Susannah over our love of dogs. She doted on Poppy, her adorable miniature wire-haired dachshund, while I was always the proud parent of pugs. We’d often chat behind the scenes about their antics —Sue shared stories of Poppy’s little adventures, and I’d regale her with tales about Bean, my naughty pug.
It is those small, shared moments that make working with Sue such a joy. Despite the glamour of the screen, she is incredibly down- to-earth and genuinely warm, even after years in the spotlight. Whilst some of us who will go unnamed may have believed our face was our passport, Rick and Sue have no such thoughts.
In fact, it’s the complete lack of any controversial moments and their impartiality that is part of their unique charm. Whilst many, particularly in my world of sport, have occasionally made front-page news, Rick and Sue have been incredibly disciplined.
A lot of positive stuff has happened behind the scenes, though; mostly, that is never really mentioned. For example, one day Rick asked me to accompany him to the home of a viewer who was doing it tough to help celebrate the fella’s birthday. Fair enough, I thought, and off we went to his house, which was in a pretty tough area. Rick’s wife Erin was already there with a birthday cake and candles. The old man was very moved, to say the least. As he blew out the candles from his wheelchair, I thought, “wow, that’s special”.

Southwest set to expand service in San Diego with opening of new Terminal 1
Southwest set to expand service in San Diego with opening of new Terminal 1
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Southwest Airlines is set to expand its slate of nonstop routes through San Diego International Airport as soon as the first crop of gates opens in the new Terminal 1 later this year.
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority announced Friday the airline will begin offering a twice daily route to Fresno Yosemite International Airport beginning on Oct. 2, shortly after the $3.8 billion construction project is set to wrap up its first phase.
The new route will supplement Southwest’s plans to expand service to other parts of the county — including Tampa, Florida; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Columbus, Ohio; and San Joe Del *****, Mexico — in October with the debut of the new Terminal 1.
“The announcement of these new routes from our New T1 is extremely exciting as we work towards the opening of the first phase,” Kimberly Becker, president and CEO of San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, said in a release on the new route. “We look forward to welcoming travelers into our new terminal as they experience it for the first time.”
What to know as San Diego airport nears end of first phase in Terminal 1 revamp
Southwest, which has long operated out of Terminal 1 at San Diego International Airport, will be one of several carriers to move over to the new terminal with its opening in September 2025, joining Frontier, Sun Country, Spirit, Breeze, JetBlue and Allegiant.
Air Canada, WestJet and Delta will also begin operations in the building later on in its phased opening, according to the airport authority.
Ahead of the new terminal’s opening, which will have more than double the number of gates as the existing Terminal 1, many of the major airlines that operate in San Diego have announced additions or enhancements to their service.
Most recently, Alaska Airlines announced a new nonstop flight to Medford, Oregon slated to begin in May 2025.
Construction, however, remains ongoing at the new terminal. Travelers headed to the airport in the meantime are encouraged to plan ahead for work-related delays getting in and out of the Terminal 1 area of the airport.
“We are also enormously grateful to our partnering airlines and loyal customers who have supported us during the construction of the New T1,” Becker said.
