  1. Nvidia (NVDA) earnings report Q4 2025 Nvidia (NVDA) earnings report Q4 2025 Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang holds a Blackwell GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU (L) and a RTX 5000 laptop as he delivers a keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 6, 2025. Patrick T. Fallon | Afp | Getty Images Nvidia reports fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday after the bell. Here’s what Wall Street is expecting, according to LSEG consensus estimates: EPS: $0.84, adjustedRevenue: $38.04 billion Nvidia’s earnings report on Wednesday will put the finishing touches on one of the most remarkable years from a large company ever. Not only do analysts expect a 72% increase in revenue in the quarter ended in January, but sales for the full fiscal year are expected to more than double to nearly $130 billion. The company’s growth streak has been driven by the fact that its data center graphics processing units, or GPUs, are essential hardware for building and deploying artificial intelligence applications like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. In the past two years, Nvidia stock has risen more than 440%, and it’s been the most valuable U.S. company at times with a market cap over $3 trillion. But the stocks’ meteoric growth has slowed in recent months — it’s trading at the same price as it did last October. Slowing the company’s appreciation are questions from investors about what Nvidia does next, and if it can keep growing. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will get an opportunity on Wednesday to answer lingering questions from investors and analysts about what the AI ***** looks like two years in. In particular, Nvidia investors are worried about any signs that the company’s most important customers — hyperscale cloud companies — might be tightening their belts after years of big capital expenditures. They were also shaken by a ******** AI model, DeepSeek’s R1, which challenged assumptions that more Nvidia chips would be needed to build smarter AI. There’s also a possibility that attention on DeepSeek could prompt U.S. officials to further restrict Nvidia’s exports of AI chips to China on national security grounds. Nvidia is already barred from shipping its most advanced AI chips to the region, and it makes specially limited versions of its chips specifically for China. Additionally, investors will want to know how the Blackwell rollout is going after reports that distribution of some versions of Nvidia’s latest AI chip may be happening slower than previously expected due to heating and yield challenges. Morgan Stanley analysts estimated this month that Microsoft will account for nearly 35% of spending in 2025 on Blackwell, Google is at 32.2%, Oracle at 7.4% and Amazon at 6.2%. Last week, TD Cowen analysts said they had learned that Microsoft had canceled leases with private data center operators and had slowed its process of negotiating to enter into new leases. The report raised fears about the sustainability of AI infrastructure growth, of which a large portion of spending is on Nvidia’s chips. Microsoft pushed back Monday, saying it still planned to spend $80 billion on infrastructure in 2025. Plus, most of Nvidia’s other key customers touted large investments. Alphabet is targeting $75 billion in capital expenditures this year, Meta will spend as much as $65 billion and Amazon is aiming to spend $100 billion. “We have talked to industry participants over the weekend, and while it’s certainly possible that there are longer lead time changes relating to land, the Microsoft GPU demand has not changed,” wrote Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore in a note this week. He has a $152 price target on Nvidia stock. Still, investors will be listening for any signs that Nvidia’s relationship with cloud companies remains strong. They’ll also be listening to Nvidia’s guidance for its fiscal 2026, and how much growth over last year’s elevated sales can be expected. 2. No One Is More Grateful Than Me For 1 Marvel Rivals Gameplay Element That Proves NetEase Loves MCU No One Is More Grateful Than Me For 1 Marvel Rivals Gameplay Element That Proves NetEase Loves MCU It is one of the hardest things in game development to understand what exactly the player wants out of an upcoming title. Fortunately, this is a code that Netease Games was easily able to crack with Marvel Rivals thanks to the pre-existing history and background of every single character inside the game. Marvel Rivals is popping off because of its already popular characters | Netease Games It is not easy to make a game using characters from Marvel, and many have come and tried before. However, Rivals truly spices things up by taking the immersiveness to another level and delivering to players what they want, proving that Netease Games plays their cards right when taking inspiration from the MCU. MCU and Marvel Rivals: How Netease had the easiest cash in of all time The game has many immersive elements from the MCU | Netease Games For those having a hard time understanding the difference, MCU stands for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is really the more famous adaptation, relying on movies to cover a great audience and popularize the comic characters. Undoubtedly, Marvel wouldn’t be the giant it is today without the cinematic adaptation of its characters. The movies have also given many iconic moments and have shown what it feels like when characters are brought to life. Sharing how the studio wanted to make use of these moments, Marvel Rivals’ Technical Lead Designer Ruan Weikang revealed the following in a developer interview via Unreal Engine. We’ve also focused on capturing iconic moments that resonate with fans, transforming memorable scenes into playable experiences. Doctor Strange’s signature portals and Spider-Man’s web-swinging mechanics exemplify this approach, delivering both authentic character representation and engaging gameplay dynamics. While implementing these features presents significant technical and balance challenges, they’re essential for creating an immersive Marvel universe experience. Weikang ultimately reveals how it is these iconic moments that help reel in the fans, as they relate to it more than anything else. Furthermore, as fun as adapting these moments into a playable experience seems, it is a plethora of challenges to get through, especially on the development side of things. Why Marvel Rivals keeps winning and what it needs to do more Marvel Rivals can keep introducing characters till forever | Netease Games Lady Luck has been good with Marvel Rivals up until now, and if Netease continues to play their cards right, who knows how big the game will end up being a year from now? As the industry was just recovering from the loss of Overwatch and was tired with mid-entries such as Sony’s Concord, Marvel Rivals entered the market at the perfect time, capturing millions of players at once. There are only a few things that the brains behind the game can continue doing from now on to ensure the success stays stable and we don’t get a repeat of what happened with Blizzard’s own hero-shooter. To stay relevant, Rivals can essentially keep introducing popular characters from the Marvel universe, which should not pose a problem for the longest time possible as the list of heroes not yet in the game is neverending. Furthermore, the game can also introduce more game modes overtime, like this one Elden Ring-inspired game mode that would be many players’ wet dream come true. 3. Nvidia’s Priority Access program reportedly kicks off, invitations sent out for RTX 5090 customers Nvidia’s Priority Access program reportedly kicks off, invitations sent out for RTX 5090 customers Nvidia has allegedly begun sending out invitations to its Priority Access members for an opportunity to purchase an RTX 5090 Founders Edition graphics card. Jon_Cruz89 on the Nvidia subreddit shared an email he got from Nvidia confirming he had been selected to purchase an RTX 5090. The GPU manufacturer re-launched its Priority Access program last week to combat availability issues plaguing all of its RTX 50-series GPUs. The program allows members to buy an RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 Founders Edition graphics card at MSRP. The only caveat is that members are required to have an Nvidia account created before January 30th to enroll. 5090 FE invitations! Check your emails! from r/nvidia Jon’s email is the first alleged confirmation that Nvidia is now sending out invitations to its Priority Access members. The invitation links to a website where only the member in question can purchase whichever GPU they requested. However, Priority Access does not guarantee all members will get access to an RTX 5090 or RTX 5080. The program is said to be run on a “first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.” If you qualify, the Priority Access program is one method of dodging availability issues surrounding RTX 50 series GPUs. Supply bottlenecks have been a non-stop issue since the RTX 5090 landed earlier this year. This has led to the re-introducing of drawing programs that have not been seen since the pandemic era. One example (besides Nvidia’s Priority Access program) is the Newegg Shuffle, which is a similar program that prioritizes participating members and gives potential buyers a shot at acquiring a GPU or any other product that boasts limited availability. (Newegg even had a kitchen sink in its shuffling program at one point.) For those who haven’t been paying attention, the RTX 50-series has been at the mercy of availability issues since day one. The launch of the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti have been widely regarded as paper launches, with all three GPUs being impossible to find in stock since their respective launches, let alone at MSRP. In addition, some RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti cards have been found to feature missing ROPs, forcing customers to RMA their GPUs to get a fully working replacement. 4. Federal Reserve’s favorite recession indicator is flashing danger again Federal Reserve’s favorite recession indicator is flashing danger again Eggs are displayed for ***** in a Manhattan grocery store on Feb. 25, 2025 in New York City. Spencer Platt | Getty Images An ominous measure that the Federal Reserve considers a near sure-fire recession signal again has reared its head in the bond market. The 10-year Treasury yield passed below that of the 3-month note in trading Wednesday. In market lingo, that’s known as an “inverted yield curve,” and it’s had a sterling prediction record over a 12- to 18-month timeframe for downturns going back decades. In fact, the New York Fed considers it such a reliable indicator that it offers monthly updates on the relationship along with percentage odds on a recession occurring over the next 12 months. At the end of January, when the 10-year yield was about 0.31 percentage point clear of the 3-month, the probability was just 23%. However, that is almost certain to change as the relationship has shifted dramatically in February. Stock Chart IconStock chart icon 10-year 3-month curve “This is what one would expect if investors are adopting a much more risk-averse attitude set of behavior due to a growth scare, which one periodically sees late in business cycles,” said Joseph Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM. “It’s not clear yet whether it’s more noise or it’s a signal that we’re going to see a more pronounced slowdown in economic activity.” Though markets more closely follow the relationship between the 10- and 2-year notes, the Fed prefers measuring against the 3-month as it is more sensitive to movements in the central bank’s federal funds rate. The 10-year/2-year spread has held modestly positive, though it also has flattened considerably in recent weeks. Stock Chart IconStock chart icon 10-year 2-year yield curve To be sure, yield curve inversions have had a strong but not perfect forecasting history. In fact, the previous inversion happened in October 2022, and there’s still been no recession 2½ years later. So while there’s no certainty that growth will turn negative this time around, investors worry that expected growth from an ambitious agenda under President Donald Trump may not happen. Economic obstacles arising The 10-year yield soared following the Nov. 5, 2024 presidential election, building on gains that began when Trump moved higher in the polls in September and peaking about a week before the Jan. 20 inauguration. That would normally be a tell-tale sign of investors expecting more growth, though some market pros saw it also as an expression of worries over inflation and the extra yield investors were demanding from government paper amid a mounting debt and deficit issue for the U.S. government. Since Trump took office last month, yields have tumbled. The 10-year has fallen about some 32 basis points, or 0.32 percentage point, since the inauguration as investors worry that Trump’s tariff-focused trade agenda could spike inflation and slow growth. The benchmark yield is now essentially unchanged from Election Day. Stock Chart IconStock chart icon 10-year yield “There are quite a number of little potholes in the roadway that we really need to navigate around,” said Tom Porcelli, chief U.S. economist at PGIM Fixed Income. “What’s happening is all the uncertainty around the tariffs in particular is putting a very high-powered magnifying glass over all those cracks. People are starting to perk up and pay attention to this now.” Recent sentiment surveys have reflected consumer and investor angst over prospects that growth could slow as inflation perks up just as it appeared to be easing. In the University of Michigan’s monthly survey, respondents put their longer-term view on inflation, over the next five years, at its highest level since 1995. On Tuesday, the Conference Board reported that its forward-looking expectations index had sunk back down to levels consistent with recession in February. Still, most of the “hard” economic data such as consumer and labor market indicators have held positive even in the face of downbeat sentiment. “We are not looking for a recession,” Porcelli said. “We don’t expect one. We do, however, expect softer economic activity in the coming year.” Markets are coming around to the same view of weaker activity as well. In response, traders are now pricing in at least a half percentage point of interest rate cuts this year from the Fed, an implication that the central bank will ease as growth slows, according to the CME Group’s FedWatch measure of futures prices. The bond market smells “recession in the air,” said Chris Rupkey, chief economist at FWDBONDS. However, Rupkey also said he’s not sure whether a recession will actually happen, since the labor market isn’t yet signaling that one is coming. The yield curve inversion “is a pure play on the economy being not as strong as people thought it was going to be at the beginning of the Trump administration,” he said. “Whether or not we’re forecasting a full-blown recession, I don’t know. You need job losses for a recession, so we’re missing one key point of the data.” Source link #Federal #Reserves #favorite #recession #indicator #flashing #danger Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  6. Bluesky Is Turning Into a Strong X Alternative Bluesky Is Turning Into a Strong X Alternative After an hour or so of scrolling through Bluesky the other night, I felt something I haven’t felt on social media in a long time: free. Free from Elon Musk, and his tedious quest to turn X into a right-wing echo chamber where he and his friends are the permanent, inescapable main characters. Free from Threads and its suffocating algorithm, which suppresses news and real-time discussions in favor of bland engagement bait. Free from my own bad habit, honed through years of obsessive Twitter use, of packaging my thoughts for consumption by an audience of opinionated strangers. You may be wondering why Bluesky — an experimental social media app that was started in 2019 under Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s former chief executive, before becoming an independent company in 2021 — is attracting so much attention these days. In the past several weeks, the app has swelled to more than 20 million users, and is adding more than a million users a day. It’s been the top-ranked free app on both Apple’s and Google’s app stores. Celebrities, politicians and artists are flocking to it. A.O.C.! Lizzo! Mark Cuban! Its 20-person team can barely keep up with all the growth. I’ll admit that I was surprised by Bluesky’s sudden jolt of popularity. I joined the app last year, when it was an invitation-only beta product. I found some of what happened there interesting, but ultimately, I wasn’t persuaded it would ever fill the Twitter-shaped hole in my information diet. It seemed buggy and complicated, and it lacked some of the features (such as direct messages) that made Twitter useful. It was also, frankly, kind of annoying. The most active posters on my feed were all left-wing Twitter discontents, united in their hatred of Mr. Musk yet unable to stop talking about him. My account went dormant, and I moved on to other platforms. But Bluesky’s post-election growth spurt persuaded me to give it a second look. It’s much better now. And while I still don’t think Bluesky — or any social media app — will ever fully replace the old Twitter, I get what the excitement is about. For burned-out social media users like me, joining Bluesky can be a reset — a chance to start over on a platform that isn’t engineered to maximize engagement, that isn’t owned by a capricious billionaire or an amoral advertising conglomerate, and that doesn’t treat its users as lab rats. It’s a throwback to a rawer, lower-stakes era of social media, before elections and economies hinged on what happened there. And while Bluesky is still small compared with X and Threads — Mr. Musk claimed in May that X had 600 million monthly active users, and Threads recently reported having roughly 275 million users — it has a vitality right now that other Twitter replacements lack. I’ve been wrong about social apps before. I thought Clubhouse, the pandemic-era hit that convened socially starved techies for glorified conference calls, would have staying power. But I suspect Bluesky’s growth is a sign that text-based social media is less dead than I thought, and that there is still plenty of demand for the kind of social networking experience that Twitter offered before Mr. Musk took it over. (Threads appears to be coming to the same realization. This week, the platform announced several seemingly Bluesky-inspired changes, including custom feeds and a new algorithm that emphasizes content from people you follow.) For the uninitiated, some Bluesky basics: On the surface, the app resembles a stripped-down version of Twitter. Users post short messages with text, photos or videos. There are followers, likes and reshares. Many new users build out their lists by adding groups of accounts known as “starter packs.” There are starter packs for journalists, soccer fans, legal experts, nephrologists, database engineers, Pokémon fans and more. The platform has added features like direct messages and an anti-harassment “nuclear block” option that allows users to sever all connections with accounts they don’t want to see. It gets more interesting under the hood, because Bluesky is built on top of something called the “AT Protocol,” a decentralized, open-source technology that is designed to let users control how they experience social media. Eventually, that could allow users to pick their own feed-ranking algorithms, choose their own moderation rules or even move their accounts to a different app while preserving their followers and post histories. It’s still early days on most of that stuff, though, and to be honest, I’m not sure any of it will matter much to the average user. Most people don’t want to roll their own algorithm — they just want an app that works, where a bunch of people they like post interesting things at a regular clip. Social media apps live and die on their vibes, and right now, Bluesky’s vibes are better than the alternatives. Some of that may be temporary. (It’s normal for new, buzzy social apps to go through a euphoric growth phase before stalling out later on.) Some of it may be related to Bluesky’s decentralized design, which gives users a sense that they’re building something together, rather than just signing up for yet another Twitter clone. It may also be a post-election bump that will taper off if liberals’ anger at Mr. Musk subsides. Whatever the reason, I think people who are nostalgic for the old Twitter should give Bluesky a shot, with a few caveats. First: I must warn you that Bluesky is weird. It’s getting less weird by the day, but it’s still full of drama, inside jokes, not-safe-for-work images and quirky subcommunities, all of which can be jarring for newcomers. (To give you a sense: One of the early trends on Bluesky was users posting lewd images of ALF, the 1980s sitcom character.) Second, if what you’re looking for is a one-for-one substitute for the old Twitter — a global watering hole where celebrities, politicians, journalists, scientists and sports fans all gathered to discuss the news of the day — you won’t find it on Bluesky. (Or anywhere else, for that matter.) We’re in an era of fractured social media now, where communities gather in different spaces for different purposes, and I suspect that Bluesky, no matter how popular it gets, will be only one part of a much larger ecosystem that includes X, Threads, group chats and more. Third, the people who are getting the most out of Bluesky — or, at least, the people whose posts I’m enjoying the most — aren’t the people who simply brought their existing social media presences over from other networks and continued posting. They’re the people who are using Bluesky as a chance to reinvent themselves and spurn bad habits, squash old beefs, try out a new posting style, let loose a little. I’m still working on that part. But if you want to watch me figure it out, you can find me over at @kevinroose.com. I’ll be the guy posting about tech news, and maybe the occasional ALF joke. Remains found in search for woman murdered in 2013 Remains found in search for woman murdered in 2013 Police searching for the body of Rania Alayed who was murdered by her husband 12 years ago have found human remains. Ahmed Al-Khatib was jailed for murdering the mother-of-three in 2013 in a planned “honour killing” in Salford, but her body was never found. New information led officers to return to search for the 25-year-old near the A19 in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, on Monday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. Remains have been discovered buried there, which police “strongly suspect” was Ms Alayed, the force added. In June 2014, Al-Khatib, from Gorton, was found guilty of her ******* and sentenced to life with a minimum of 20 years imprisonment. GMP said while no official identification had taken place Ms Alayed’s family had been informed of the find. Det Ch Insp Neil Higginson said: “More than a decade after her *******, we now strongly believe we have located Rania’s body and are finally able to provide closure to her family, who we know have endured so much pain and grief over the years.” Source link #Remains #search #woman #murdered Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  10. Max reverses course, won’t charge extra for live sports and news Max reverses course, won’t charge extra for live sports and news In an utterly shocking, consumer-friendly move, Max won’t charge for something previously offered for free. Warner Bros. Discovery said on Wednesday that it’s shelving its previously announced plan to charge an extra $10 monthly for sports and news content. Instead, it’s cutting the content from the ad-supported tier next month, which sounds reasonable enough. In 2023, Max said its Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On tier would only be free until February 2024, when it would become a $10 add-on for all tiers. But that date came and went (and then went some more) without news of the extra fees. Viewers waited silently like students who hoped their teacher would forget their homework assignment. Then, last September, Bloomberg reported that the $10 fee was still in the works — and could arrive as soon as that month. Uh oh. But today’s news puts those concerns to rest, at least for paying subscribers. Ad-supported members will lose access to B/R Sports and CNN Max (the news network’s streaming redo) on March 30. Warner says those on that tier who want to retain access to sports and news can visit the Max Help Center for more info. So far, that page says nothing about it, so you’ll probably want to check back closer to the cutoff date. B/R Sports streams more than 1,700 live games and events annually across leagues like the NBA (although it loses those rights after this season), MLB, NHL, NCAA, NASCAR and more. Meanwhile, CNN Max is Warner CEO David Zaslav’s latest attempt to turn a CNN streaming service into a revenue stream — something the debt-ridden company direly needs. This month alone, it made sweeping cuts to its games division and began offering some of its movies on YouTube. Although Max subscribers will welcome today’s announcement, there’s reason to question whether the free integration will be permanent. In its press release, where you have to assume words were chosen carefully and pored over by layers of management, Max only said it won’t pursue that path… “for now.” Source link #Max #reverses #wont #charge #extra #live #sports #news Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  11. The Evolution of Home Beauty Device Trends The Evolution of Home Beauty Device Trends But that was specifically for psoriasis, with a limited pool of 783 patients. Popular at-home skin-care devices tend to be less vetted, said the study’s lead author Joel Gelfand, MD, a professor of dermatology and epidemiology at the Perelman School. “If they aren’t studied in a randomized control trial, it makes me skeptical,” he said. “Was a study done by the manufacturer in a situation to benefit financially, or was it large with hundreds of patients? Because it’s a very murky area, most people would be best off speaking to a dermatologist and seeing if a light modality would have some effect on their skin.” Dr. Evan Rieder, a dual board-certified physician in dermatology and psychiatry who practices in Manhattan, said that many devices marketed for at-home use are FDA cleared, which is different from being FDA approved. “‘Approved’ means a device or a medicine has gone through rigorous clinical trials compared to a placebo, and the results are not just due to chance and have been replicated in other studies as well,” he said. FDA 510(k) Clearance is often what you’re seeing at home, which indicates solely that the device has been evaluated by the FDA and is not dangerous for nonprofessional use. Dr. Rieder declined to name specific devices, but said that many of them have photos on their websites of before and after results that are “grossly misleading,” with inconsistent lighting and shadows that make the results even harder to see. The outcome one can expect is subtle at best, he said, for those who have “good skin or minor concerns.” It may be wiser, he went on, to approach at-home care as a tool to support or supplement in-office treatments. For the cost of an at-home laser device, a patient could — depending on where they live and the doctor they visit — get two or three fractionated laser treatments: “That’s a major improvement with real brightening — decreased photo damage, decreasing the burden of pre-cancers and maintained with just sunscreen and moisturizer at home.” To reach consumers, manufacturers tend to rely heavily on the collaboration or approval of two distinct groups. “Skinfluencer” doctors with good credentials and high-profile clientele, such as Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky (@dermguru) and Dr. Jenny Liu (@derm.talk), make videos on Instagram on the impacts of differences in wavelength, power density and energy density in certain devices to help consumers choose wisely. And then there are the more traditional social media influencers, who often speak frankly and informally of their own personal experiences with these tools — like Jenn Lexi (@jennlexi_), an aesthetician student whose recent post comparing popular LED masks has more than 56,000 likes on TikTok. 13. Dracula Still Owes Moon Knight Money As Marvel Rivals Calls Back To A Classic Meme Dracula Still Owes Moon Knight Money As Marvel Rivals Calls Back To A Classic Meme Prior to Marvel Rivals, casual superhero fans may have only been familiar with Moon Knight’s live-action 2022 Disney+ series starring Oscar Isaac. The Fist of Khonshu first appeared in comics 50 years ago when he went up against Marvel’s Werewolf by Night. However, some fans believe that Moon Knight has a grudge against Dracula because of a popular meme, and now even Marvel Rivals is getting in on the fun with some very amusing callbacks in the game. The meme in question features artwork from one of Marvel’s comics, but the dialogue was reedited to make Moon Knight angry at the lord of the vampires over an unpaid debt. This never happened in Marvel’s comics, and Moon Knight hasn’t had a lot of interactions with Dracula in-continuity. Marvel Rivals continuity isn’t bound by that technicality, and NetEase apparently added in a few Easter eggs for the meme in the new map, Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park, which debuted as part of mid-Season 1 update. Dracula is one of the main villains of Season 1, and Moon Knight was one of the first heroes in Marvel Rivals. They haven’t crossed paths on-screen yet, but Moon Knight mentions the debt Dracula owes him in the clips below. So far, the two specific lines of dialogue that came up for Moon Knight in this map are “Dracula’s here? Good, that bloodsuckin’ nerd owes me big” and that it’s “time for Dracula to pay up.” There’s also another reference to it in Moon Knight’s in-game lore tab. In the text where Moon Knight is conversing with his patron deity, Khonshu, he says that “[vampires] *****” and “Dracula owes me money.” This lighthearted touch is a welcome discovery after the news about NetEase laying off some of Marvel Rivals’ developers despite the game’s massive success. A recent report even suggested that NetEase considered replacing Marvel’s characters or canceling the game outright to avoid paying Disney for the rights to use them in the game. Regardless of whether either option was ever a viable choice, Marvel Rivals has already established itself as one of NetEase’s most popular titles in a very short time. 14. How to Download Your Videos From TikTok How to Download Your Videos From TikTok Feeling the sudden need to save your TikTok videos in case the site abruptly goes away? Here are a few methods for nontechnical users who want copies of the videos they personally uploaded or made on TikTok. You can also download a copy of your TikTok data right from your account, which doesn’t get you the video files themselves but will give other items including your direct messages and followers list. Here’s how. Download Individual Videos If you just want to save a few favorite videos you made on the fly, snagging them one by one is fairly straightforward. To download a video on an Android or iPhone, go to your TikTok profile page, select a clip, tap the three-dot menu icon on the right side of the screen and tap Save Video. You can then email it to yourself, upload it to Google Drive (or another cloud service) or save it to your phone’s Files app or designated downloads area. Repeat as needed until you have all the videos you want. You can also download videos on a computer by logging into your account on the TikTok site and right-clicking on a video. You should see a pop-up menu with the Download Video option. Note that when you download directly from the web browser, the clips typically have the TikTok watermark embedded. If you don’t see a download option in the menu or have trouble saving a video, make sure the video or your account is set to public, not private. Download All Your Videos YouTube and other sites (including TikTok itself) are full of instructional videos on how to download all your TikTok clips at once using various third-party apps, websites and techniques of varying technical sophistication. But keep in mind that third-party apps can differ in security and reliability — and some bulk-downloading software may violate TikTok’s terms of service. Additionally, certain audio soundtracks are copyrighted and can’t be uploaded elsewhere. But if you’re just trying to quickly get archival copies of your personal videos from your account, one solution is to use a computer browser extension designed to download all the videos on a page without watermarks. Using Google Chrome, for example, search the Chrome Web Store for TikTok Downloader; there are many extensions with descriptions and reviews. Install the one you like best and read its instructions. (TikTok Video Keeper was used in this example.) Once you install the browser extension and return to your TikTok profile page, click the Download All button to deposit copies of your clips on your computer. Some extensions also give you a download button on individual videos if you have problems with downloading everything at once. Download Your Data Like other social media sites, TikTok allows you to download information about your account to your phone or computer. This data dump includes your activity on the site (browsing history, comments, your followers list and more), your direct messages and a text file of your posts with links to the videos. To request your account data, open the TikTok app, go to your profile page and tap the three-lined menu icon in the upper-right corner. On the menu, select Settings and Privacy and on the next screen, select Account. Then choose Download Your Data from the menu. (If you prefer to do this on the TikTok website with a computer browser, click your profile icon in the upper-right corner, choose Settings and in the Privacy menu under Data, click Download Your Data.) On the Download TikTok Data screen, choose All Data or tap Custom to request just certain files, like the direct messages you sent and received. Choose a file format, either plain text (the default choice and easier for nontechnical users) or JSON (JavaScript Object Notation), a standard that other social media sites can import. Once you have made your selections, tap the Request Data button. Depending on your account, getting the files can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. When your files are ready, you get a notification from TikTok and a Download button appears in the Download Data tab. Click it to retrieve your files, which are compressed in a folder labeled TikTok that lands in whichever place you use for downloads, like your phone’s Files app or your computer’s Downloads folder. If you chose the default text format, you should see a series of nested folders once you open the downloaded TikTok folder. Open the folders and then open a document to see your messages. The Posts.txt file has a list of all your videos posted to TikTok. You can paste the link to each video into your web browser and download the video from there. TikTok’s situation may be more unstable than other social-media sites, but it can also serve as a reminder to keep backup copies of the things you share on any site as you go — so you don’t risk losing your creations if something unexpected happens. 15. Minerals deal success hinges on Trump talks: Zelenskiy Minerals deal success hinges on Trump talks: Zelenskiy President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says the success of Ukraine’s minerals deal with the United States hinges on his looming talks with President Donald Trump. The deal is at the heart of Ukraine’s push to win over Trump’s support – including security guarantees – as the US president strives to clinch a rapid end to the war with Russia. The Ukrainian government was poised to approve the text of the agreement later on Wednesday, so that it could be signed by both sides, the prime minister said, with Zelenskiy set to visit Washington DC on Friday for talks with the US leader. “This deal could be a great success or it could pass quietly. And the big success depends on our conversation with President Trump,” Zelenskiy told a news conference. Zelenskiy said both sides were still working on organising his potential visit on Friday to sign the deal after a tumultuous week in which the two leaders have exchanged hostile remarks, including Trump calling Zelenskiy a dictator. The Ukrainian president said success would depend on the United States providing guarantees to protect the future security of Ukraine in the event of any Russian aggression after a peace deal is reached. A copy of the agreement seen by Reuters on Wednesday and dated February 25 did not spell out concrete security guarantees under the deal but mentions Ukraine’s efforts to obtain them. “The Government of the United States of America supports Ukraine’s efforts to obtain security guarantees needed to establish lasting peace,” it said. Trump said during a cabinet meeting at the White House on Wednesday that Zelenskiy will be coming to Washington DC on Friday to sign an agreement on rare earth minerals and other topics. The deal is part of a broader effort to end the war with Russia and will lay the groundwork for long-term co-operation between Ukraine and the US, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna told Reuters. “This agreement signifies our commitment to lasting peace and strong partnership, as well as the US desire to participate in Ukraine’s reconstruction,” she said in a written statement. Under the wording of the agreement titled “Bilateral Agreement Establishing Terms and Conditions for a Reconstruction Investment Fund,” Ukraine would contribute 50 per cent of “all revenues earned from the future monetisation of all relevant Ukrainian Government-owned natural resource assets”. Zelenskiy said the exact amounts and investments would be spelled out in a further agreement to set up the fund. Those proceeds would go into a fund jointly owned and managed by the United States and Ukraine, the wording of the agreement seen by Reuters says. The agreement does not name the assets in question but says they would include deposits of minerals, oil, natural gas and other extractable materials as well as other infrastructure such as LNG terminals and ports. The list would be determined in a future agreement on the fund, while the document does not spell out exactly how much money would be generated for the United States or over what time frame. In a comment aimed at calming the fears of worried Ukrainians, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Ukraine would never “sign or consider … a colonial treaty that did not take into account the interests of the state”. The Ukrainian military said on Wednesday it had attacked Russia’s Tuapse oil refinery on the ****** Sea coast and that at least 40 explosions had been recorded at the site. Tuapse is home to one of Russia’s biggest oil refineries, which has been targeted by Ukrainian drones several times before. The Ukrainian military also said it had attacked two military airfields in Russia-controlled Crimea but gave no further details on any of the attacks. Earlier, Russian authorities said they had downed 83 Ukrainian drones overnight over its southern Krasnodar region, including the port of Tuapse, adding that some houses there had been damaged although it made no reference to the oil refinery. Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said in a post on the Telegram messaging app that three residential houses had been damaged across the region but there were no immediate reports of injuries. Russia’s aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia said on Telegram that the international airport at Sochi, 150km southeast of Tuapse, had been briefly closed to air traffic to ensure air safety. The Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement that a total of 128 Ukrainian drones had been downed over Russian territory overnight. Probably not. Can it? It definitely can. [mellow electronic music] This is a 2024 Tesla Model 3. It has some of the most advanced navigation, autonomous driving, and safety features currently on the market, meaning it’s full of equipment that can record and track you and your surroundings, but what happens to that data? How much of it does Tesla collect and can you trust the company to protect your sensitive information? I’m Andrew Couts. Today, we’re doing a deep dive into Tesla’s privacy issues. This is “Incognito Mode.” [somber electronic music] There have been roughly seven million Teslas sold, and each one of them is essentially a surveillance system on wheels. The manual says there are Wi-Fi and GPS antennas in the passenger-side mirror, which lets your car see where you are and get directions and download software updates when it’s parked in your garage. Then, of course, there are all the cameras. Every Tesla has a rear-view camera, a common feature which has actually been required in all new cars since 2018, but Teslas also have either seven or eight other cameras depending on the model, two mounted on the door pillars, two mounted on the front fenders, one inside the car, and either two or three mounted on the windshield above the rear-view mirror. These cameras record around the car and feed that information to an onboard AI called Tesla Vision, which figures out things like whether you’re staying in your lane, getting too close to other vehicles, or if you’re approaching a red light. With this 360 view, you’re really recording a massive amount of information about everything the car drives by, license plates, people’s faces, where people are on the street. Basically, public information, but it’s a whole lot for a car to collect. With all these sensors and cameras, your Tesla is awash in data, data that the company says your car needs to stay safe and get smarter, and Tesla says that it keeps your data private, but is it really that simple? Let’s look at what happens to the most sensitive data that your Tesla collects. [somber electronic music] Your Tesla is constantly using its GPS sensor to monitor where you go, but according to Tesla, the company doesn’t collect your location data with two exceptions. The first exception is if you experience what the company calls a safety event. Basically, if you get into an accident. If your car senses a ******, it’ll send your location to Tesla. The second is if you turn on location data sharing. If you do that, your car will send location data to Tesla so it can evaluate how well its cars analyze and respond to road conditions. Tesla promises that, if you give it permission to collect this data, it’ll make sure it’s anonymized. The company says that it does not link your location with your account or your identity or keep a history of where you’ve been. [somber electronic music] Tesla says that it only collects camera footage in limited circumstances. For the exterior cameras, your car processes the data itself unless you enable data sharing, in which case recordings of up to 30 seconds are shared with Tesla so it can evaluate how well its cars analyze and respond to road conditions. Just like when you voluntarily share location data, Tesla says this information is anonymized. According to Tesla, the only time your car will share your camera footage and link it to your identity is if you’re in an accident. Tesla’s exterior cameras are also used for a feature called Sentry Mode, which basically lets you monitor your car’s surroundings, or if your car detects a threat or unusual movement, you can watch a recording of the event. Tesla promises that these features are secure. The live view is protected with end-to-end encryption, meaning that even Tesla can’t access it, and the recordings can only be saved on a USB drive. That means they aren’t sent to Tesla. Still, you’re gonna wanna keep Sentry Mode in mind, and we’ll explain more later. As for the interior camera, the one that might be seeing more sensitive things, Tesla says that all its footage stays in the car unless you enable data sharing. If you turn on that sharing and you get in an accident, your car will send Tesla short anonymized clips. It’s the same as with the exterior cameras, but what’s different about the interior camera is, if you don’t turn on data sharing, the footage will never be sent to Tesla, and if you’re wondering about audio recordings generated by voice commands like asking your car to turn on the AC, Tesla says those recordings stay in the car too unless you enable data sharing so it can improve the accuracy of your car’s responses. Just like with the cameras, Tesla says it doesn’t capture continuous audio recordings, but can you trust Tesla’s promises? The truth is your privacy isn’t as simple as the company makes it sound. [somber electronic music] There are two big problems with Tesla’s privacy claims. The first has to do with anonymization. Remember how Tesla claims that it anonymizes all the data so it can’t be traced back to you? Well, this anonymization isn’t fool-proof. Each piece of data gets a temporary ID when it’s sent to Tesla servers, but as IEEE Spectrum explained, that temporary ID can stay active for days or even weeks, and during that time, everything associated with that ID is clearly linked for everyone at Tesla to see. That could include repeated visits to places that could clearly identify someone like homes, schools, and office buildings. As one Tesla owner who reverse-engineered the car’s data collection system told IEEE Spectrum, “You could probably match everything to a single person if you wanted to.” And that leads to our second big problem, how much you can trust Tesla itself. Tesla makes a lot of privacy guarantees, but when the Mozilla Foundation analyzed those promises, it wasn’t very impressed. “Tesla does brag on its privacy pages about how they’re committed to protecting your data privacy. However, we worry that their actions too often show otherwise.” Mozilla criticized the policy’s really vague language and lack of clarity on sharing with third parties, and it said it was very worried about Tesla’s privacy. They even went as far as saying it’s hard to trust them with their current track record. Tesla’s had some pretty serious privacy and security incidents over the past few years. The biggest scandal involved Tesla employees spying on customers through the images and videos recorded by their car’s cameras. – [Reporter] A car owner filing a potential class action suit after a Reuters report published Thursday said a small group of former employees described sharing sensitive customer videos internally. – According to Reuters, between 2019 and 2022, Tesla employees sent each other highly invasive images and videos from their customers’ cars. This included footage of naked people and even a car hitting a child riding a bike. Tesla employees could see inside homes and garages as well as the GPS locations of their recordings. After the news broke in 2023, members of Congress took notice. Senators Ed Markey and Richard Blumenthal wrote to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, saying, “The apparent willful disregard of Tesla customers’ privacy is unacceptable and raises serious questions about Tesla’s management practices.” Employees spying isn’t the only reason to worry about how Tesla protects your privacy. The company has also had trouble holding on to its data. – You have privacy questions because information is being gathered about you at all times, where you park, where you go, and it’s being kept by the automotive industry without any real standards that are in place today. – In May 2023, a whistleblower gave a ******* newspaper 100 gigabytes of internal Tesla documents, including sensitive employee details, customers’ bank information, and even production secrets. A ******* data protection officer told The Guardian that the data breach was unprecedented in scale. Now that we’ve covered what’s in a Tesla and what to make of the company’s privacy promises, let’s go over what could go wrong if you own, rent, ride in, or just walk by one of these cars. [somber electronic music] When it comes to Tesla’s privacy risks, there’s really three categories you have to consider, government surveillance, hacking, and good old-fashioned forgetfulness. You own a Tesla, the government can just search your car. They may not even need a warrant to do so. The Fourth Amendment’s so-called automobile exception lets the police search a car without a warrant as long as they have probable cause to be suspicious of you, and searching a Tesla can involve plugging your car into a computer and analyzing all the data it’s collected about your travel history, and here’s something a lot of people don’t know. Even if you don’t own a Tesla and you don’t take a ride in one, you could still get caught in the company’s de facto surveillance. Remember that Sentry Mode feature we told you about earlier? If you’re walking down the street near a Tesla and a crime occurs nearby, you could get caught up in a police investigation without having anything to do with the incident. Tesla’s privacy policy contains vague and broad language about when the company will share car data with government authorities. The company says that it will share information in response to subpoenas, but it also says it will turn over data if the company thinks the law requires it for purposes of security or other issues of public importance. It’s anyone’s guess what that means. Apart from government investigations, there are also criminal gangs that like to hack companies, take huge piles of customer data, and charge ransoms not to post it online. There’s also the possibility that hackers could steal your data right off your car. In early 2023, researchers at Pwn2Own, a security conference in Canada, hacked into a Tesla Model 3 in less than two minutes. “They went from what’s essentially an external component, the Bluetooth chipset, to systems deep within the vehicle.” In addition to police and hackers, there’s a third privacy risk you should consider, yourself. When people rent Teslas or trade in their used ones, they sometimes forget to erase their car’s memory. Researchers have found sensitive unencrypted data sitting on Teslas purchased at scrap yards, where their previous owners probably thought it would never be accessed again. [somber electronic music] Don’t other cars have these problems too? It’s a fair question. A 2023 Mozilla Foundation review of connected vehicle privacy concluded, “Modern cars are a privacy nightmare.” The truth is all car companies collect a lot of data on their customers. Companies like Toyota use the car’s interior camera to make sure drivers are paying attention, even to verify a driver’s identity to prevent theft. Another example is Nissan’s privacy policy, which states it could collect not just your location history, but anything you might do inside the privacy of your own car, but not all of your car’s data is equally sensitive and not all car makers collect the same data and handle it in the same way, and when it comes to the most sensitive data, Tesla stands out. Given its unique quantity of cameras and sensor data, its alarming privacy and security failures, and its vague policy about sharing information with the government. “As far as we know,” one researcher told IEEE Spectrum, “Tesla vehicles collect the most amount of data.” And in its 2023 review of car companies, Mozilla said, “Tesla is only the second product we’ve ever reviewed to receive all of our privacy dings.” Of course, we can’t talk about Tesla’s privacy risks without talking about Elon Musk. The world’s richest man has recently inserted himself into the center of American politics and aligned himself with President Donald Trump. He’s repeatedly twisted the policies of his social media network X to satisfy his own personal whims and support Trump’s political agenda, and remember how Tesla says it doesn’t collect continuous video from its cars? We don’t know if that’s a technological limitation or just a company policy. Basically, if the technology allows it, all it takes is a policy tweak for your level of privacy to drastically change. [somber electronic music] Now that you know how Tesla collects your information and why it might not be as private as the company claims, you’re probably wondering how you can protect yourself. If you own a Tesla, the one thing you can do is disable data sharing. Of course, we should point out that disabling some of these features will make your Tesla less smart. Using technology is all about making trade-offs. You’ll have to decide for yourself what you’re most comfortable with. If you’re getting rid of your Tesla, you can use the company’s website or app to request a total account deletion, and if you’re a pedestrian worried about ending up in the background of a Tesla recording, maybe just keep an eye out for that sleek T logo and cross the street any time you see one. A few months ago, we saw leaked models of controllers (codename Roy) in the SteamVR update. It will be using the same SteamOS from Steam Deck, but adapted for virtual reality. One of the core features is the ability to play flat-screen game that are already playable on Steam Deck, but in VR on a big screen without a PC. The first behind closed doors presentations could start soon.“ Much like the Valve Index headset released in 2019, the rumored $1,200 price tag for the Deckard is pretty hefty. The tagline for the Index was “fidelity first” and it seems like the company will be taking a similar approach this time too, aiming for a high-end product for VR enthusiasts. Follower mentions “in-house” games and demos, which also makes sense. Even though VR remains a niche industry, the worldwide success of Half-Life: Alyx gave the Index a significant sales boost and made sure plenty of people were talking about it, even if they weren’t buying. It would be no surprise if Valve has planned another groundbreaking launch title for this next headset, designed to push the tech to its limits and convince a few more people that now is the time to try out VR. Gabe Follower Images of the recently leaked controllers are also included — they look pretty different from the Index controllers but, interestingly, pretty similar to Meta’s Quest 3 controllers. Patent illustrations of the headset itself don’t give too much away, aside from backing up the rumors that this is indeed a wireless headset. Finally, the point I find most interesting is the plan to use an adapted version of SteamOS and allow users to play Steam Deck games on a big VR screen. This extra feature could go a long way toward encouraging sales since it means customers would always have something to use the headset for, even when things are a bit slow on the VR games front. Follower thinks presentations could start soon and if Valve really is planning to launch this product before the end of the year, an official announcement can’t be that far off either. 21. Everything announced at Amazon’s Alexa+ AI event Everything announced at Amazon’s Alexa+ AI event Amazon held its first major product event of the year on Wednesday and, as expected, it was largely about Alexa. The company first announced its next-gen, AI-powered voice assistant back in 2023, but technical issues forced Amazon to delay its formal unveiling and rollout. An Alexa upgrade means that Amazon has a swathe of new devices ready to support the latest version of the voice assistant. Amazon’s hardware chief, Panos Panay, and his devices and services team were at the event to show off Alexa+. Here’s a rundown of everything Amazon announced at its first devices event of 2025: Alexa+ Sam Rutherford for Engadget After lots (and lots) of boring rambling about generative AI from Amazon CEO Andy Jassy at Wednesday’s event, Panay took the mic to start sharing the actual news. Alexa+ is the name of the company’s upgraded voice assistant. The company will start to roll it out next month, beginning with Echo Show devices. It costs $20 per month, but Prime members get access at no extra cost. Prime currently costs $15 per month, so we have to wonder if a price increase is coming there. Alexa+ is designed to be more conversational and useful across compatible devices. It can remember your preferences, such as the types of food you like and dislike when asking for a recipe. Panay claimed that, among other things, smart home management “has transformed with Alexa+.” You can use the voice assistant to, for instance, move music from an Echo device to another speaker or a TV, or jump to a certain scene in a movie that’s on Prime Video. Alexa+ can detect your tone and mood. In a live demo, it appeared to try to help Panay remain calm during his presentation. Amazon claims the upgraded voice assistant can answer questions about footage captured with Ring cameras, photos taken with an Echo Show, emails, files such as PDFs, hand-written notes, your calendar, upcoming sports games and much more. Alexa+ can use a service called Suno (which record labels have sued for scraping their music to train its AI modes) to generate custom songs on the fly. Much like OpenAI has for ChatGPT, Amazon has partnered with a number of news organizations with the aim of answering questions about a variety of topics with current information. Other partners include Uber for ordering rides, OpenTable for booking a restaurant reservation, Spotify, Sonos, Samsung, Xbox, Tidal, Dyson, NASA and “tens of thousands” more. There’s Amazon Fresh integration for grocery ordering, and you can see what’s in your cart on your screen. Elsewhere, Alexa+ has some features that are apparently kid-friendly. The voice assistant can use genAI to tell kids customized stories based on what they want to hear about. It can also answer questions they have (hopefully without any of those incorrect or false results that delayed Alexa+). Panay led into the announcement and demos by noting that Alexa, as it stands, can be frustrating to use but generative AI can help to mitigate those annoyances. He added that an AI chatbot wouldn’t be sufficient for Amazon’s vision for Alexa and that people need something easy to use that allows them to “actually take action.” With Alexa+, Panay claimed that the “intimidation factor” of genAI is no more. Sure! Amazon There are other ways to access Alexa+ other than on an Echo device. Amazon revealed that you’ll be able to use the upgraded voice assistant via alexa.com, which looks very basic at the time of writing. Seriously, the screenshot above is all that’s on the website, which looks like it was knocked together in five minutes. That’ll surely change soon, as a demo at the event indicated that you’ll be able to type in queries. Amazon is also revamping the Alexa iOS and Android apps to include access to the upgraded assistant. New devices There was diddly squat on this front. It was widely expected that Amazon would introduce new hardware to go along with Alexa+, such as fresh Echo Buds, Echo speakers, smart displays and so on. But nope! The event was all about the upgraded voice assistant which, at least to start with, requires a screen like an Echo Show, smartphone or computer to use. However, the company says Alexa+ will run on nearly every Alexa-compatible device it has released. Source link #announced #Amazons #Alexa #event Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

Search resumes for missing MH370 plane, 11 years after it disappeared – National Search resumes for missing MH370 plane, 11 years after it disappeared – National A new search is being launched for MH370, the Malaysia Airlines flight that disappeared 11 years ago, with the hopes of providing some answers in one of aviation’s greatest enduring mysteries. In December 2024, Malaysia agreed to resume the search for the Boeing 777 that was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew when it vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. Maritime exploration firm Ocean Infinity has resumed the hunt for the missing plane, Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke said Tuesday, telling reporters that contract details between Malaysia and Ocean Infinity are still being finalized. In December, Loke said the government would sign the contract on a “no-find, no-fee” basis — if the wreckage is located and verified, Ocean Infinity will receive US$70 million. While Malaysia had not yet signed the contract, Loke said Tuesday, he welcomed the company’s “proactiveness” in deploying its ships to that area to begin the search. 24. Here’s what Wall Street is expecting, according to LSEG consensus estimates: EPS: $0.84, adjusted Revenue: $38.04 billion Nvidia’s earnings report on Wednesday will put the finishing touches on one of the most remarkable years from a large company ever. 25. Young Tigers can’t wait to add ****** back to mix Young Tigers can’t wait to add ****** back to mix Preparing to start their AFL season with a team packed with youthful enthusiasm, Richmond can’t wait for Tom ****** to provide a much-needed dose of experience and power. ****** has played just eight games across the past two years, which were ruined by foot and hamstring injuries. The 32-year-old spearhead missed Richmond’s practice match against Collingwood at Ikon Park on Wednesday through concussion but has declared himself fit to face Carlton in round one, on March 13. “Feeling good,” ****** told Fox Footy. “I’m just sort of building back up from it. I’ll be fine for round one. “I’ve had a great pre-season so far. “The concussion just slowed me down for a couple of weeks but building back up now but should be sweet for round one and looking forward to it.” After Dustin Martin retired and Shai Bolton, Daniel Rioli and Liam Baker departed during the off-season, the Tigers, last year’s wooden spooners, are missing experience across all lines, but especially in attack. In Wednesday night’s 21.6 (132) to 6.13 (49) loss to Collingwood, only 22-year-old Jacob Bauer (two goals) kicked multiple majors, while Adem Yze tested out youngsters Harry Armstrong, Liam Fawcett and Tom Sims in attack. Dual premiership forward ****** has kicked 462 goals in 220 games and will provide crucial leadership and structure. “He’s a great leader around the club, and we know about his AFL ability,” Newman said. “He provides a really strong contest for us, but more importantly, he provides some experience in our front end. “We’re really young in our front end at the moment, and I think the great thing with Tom is he’ll be able to come in and hit back straight away but also provide some real strong guidance for our young boys.” The Tigers remain hopeful prized No.1 pick Sam Lalor (fractured jaw, concussion) will be available for round one. “He’ll obviously go through all the protocols that he needs, and we’ll give him the best chance,” Newman said. “But I’m sure the docs and the medicos are giving him every chance.” Newman was excited by what young midfielder Sam Banks (21 disposals) and fellow on-baller Jack Ross (24) showed, while also praising young defender Luke Trainor and talented key forward Armstrong.
