This free interactive museum lets you explore Wikipedia like never before This free interactive museum lets you explore Wikipedia like never before To wander the halls of the Museum of All Things, is to wander the entire breadth of human knowledge. The interactive museum from developer Maya Claire, which you can download for free on itch.io, gives physical form to Wikipedia by rendering any page on the internet’s favorite repository of information into a digital exhibit players can explore at their leisure. While the interactive experience might not be a “game” in the way most people think of the term, the Museum of All Things is a clever use of interactive media that puts into perspective just how much information we have on demand. When I first start the Museum of all Things I am placed into a lobby. In front of me I see a help desk with a sign and map explaining how the space is organized. Wings shoot off from the main hall for categories like people, history, culture, geography, and more. Like a real museum, the best way to explore MoAT is to pick a wing at random and start exploring. I choose the culture wing and walk down a large white corridor with smaller hallways shooting off. The sign for flood myths grabs my attention so I enter it and am met with a large exhibit complete with framed images and large posters of text explaining the different historical, cultural, and religious aspects of the term. Maya Claire All of this information is pulled directly from Wikipedia, with images also sourced from Wikimedia Commons. In simple terms, that means each exhibit the player enters renders a Wikipedia page into a physical space. Each exhibit room also has more signs marking other offshoots, each one a link you’d find in the actual Wikipedia page to a connected topic. For example, After wandering the flood myths exhibit I took a detour down the Zeus hallway and fell through a rabbit hole from there. That feeling of getting lost in the information rabbit hole is a quintessential Wikipedia experience that most people are familiar with. The hyperlinking of pages makes it so simple to click ad infinitum and find yourself somewhere completely different then when you started, with a handful of disparate facts now lodged somewhere in your mind. MoAT takes that information dive and slows it down to a more meditative process by housing it in an extensive setting that follows a dreamlike structure of never-ending corridors and exhibits. While you might be able to get from Danny DeVito to Henry VIII in a matter of seconds on Wikipedia with a few choice clicks, that same path may take minutes as you wonder about the less easily parsed structure of MoAT. I feel like I finally understand what the protagonist of Susanna Clarke’s Piranesi was going through. Maya Claire It forces players to take in each bit of information on display more intentionally, as opposed to the rushing stream that that same information becomes when on Wikipedia itself. There are ways to expedite the search process within MoAT if so desired. A search function in the lobby opens up a direct path to whatever exhibit you are looking for, and when you want to learn a bit more about something an option in the pause menu will take you directly to the corresponding page on Wikipedia. The novelty of rendering all this information as a physical space, however, is what makes MoAT so charming. Museums are something of an endurance test. My own personal rule of thumb is that I can’t spend more than three hours in a museum. One minute past that and I usually feel overwhelmed with information to the point my eyes start glazing over. It’s why, despite living in New York City for so many years, I’ve yet to see every room in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. That’s just one museum, and while it is one of the largest in the world it does have a finite amount of information stored within its walls. By contrast, MoAT is almost impossible to quantify. By rendering the repository of knowledge that is Wikipedia into a simulacrum of physical space, it gives us a stark reality check about just how much information we really have at our fingertips. Putting it in the form of a traditional museum also reminds us that Wikipedia is not something that just came into existence, but something that was created and actively curated by people. Information is a powerful tool, and as bad actors seek to police projects like Wikipedia, MoAT is a reminder not to take it for granted. PM defends economy, attacks Coalition’s Medicare record in 60 Minutes interview with Karl Stefanovic PM defends economy, attacks Coalition’s Medicare record in 60 Minutes interview with Karl Stefanovic Anthony Albanese has defended his government’s money management and attacked the Coalition’s record on Medicare in a wide-ranging interview aired on Sunday. Karl Stefanovic grilled the Prime Minister on several pressing matters both at home and abroad in the pre-election sit down with Nine’s 60 Minutes. But with Australians weathering soaring housing costs and higher bills for the basics, cost of living was the dominant issue. Polls have consistently shown it is top-of-mind for Australians as they prepare to cast their ballots. Stefanovic pointed out Mr Albanese’s job could be on the line if voters say they have “had enough”. “Well, cost of living measures of course have been put in place by us,” Mr Albanese replied. “All of them have been opposed by (Opposition Leader) Peter Dutton. Camera IconPrime Minister Anthony Albanese (right) has defended his government’s management of the economy. NewsWire / Martin Ollman Credit: News Corp Australia “And what we’ve managed to do here is to aim for that soft landing of bringing inflation down without throwing people on the unemployment scrap heap.” Stefanovic pressed on, saying “a soft-landing” was hard to sell when *********** were paying record amounts at supermarkets. “People are angry and some of that anger is being directed towards you because it’s been on your watch,” he said. Mr Albanese noted that “global inflation … rose under the previous government’s watch” and accused the Coalition of “pouring petrol on the fire by having a $78bn deficit”. “Now we turned that $78bn liberal deficit into a $22bn Labor surplus,” he said. “We have produced two budget surpluses. “You remember that the previous government produced zero. “We have had a major repair job to do, but we’ve always been focused as well on the future. “And that’s what this election campaign will be about.” Pressure on Medicare has forced Australians to fork out more to see a GP, making it a cost of living issue as well as a healthcare issue. The Albanese government has leant into revamping the health system with a series of major policies, including $573m targeting women’s healthcare and its signature $8.5bn pledge to make 90 per cent of GP appointments bulk-billed by 2030. The Coalition took the wind out the of the latter’s sails by promising to match the funding and raise it by half a billion as Mr Albanese formally unveiled the election pitch to a rally of Labor Party faithful last week. Camera IconThe Albanese government has pledged a record $8.5bn toward making 90 per cent of GP appointments bulk-billed by 2030. NewsWire / David Geraghty Credit: News Corp Australia Labor has since ramped up attacks on the opposition’s handling of Medicare, particularly a rebates freeze last decade that independent experts have attributed to fewer GPs bulk-billing. “Peter Dutton has a record that’s negative,” Mr Albanese said. “He did rip tens of billions of dollars out of the health system.” Stefanovic remarked that it sounded as though he was promoting “Mediscare 2.0”, a nod to Labor’s 2016 campaign that forced former Coalition prime minister Malcolm Turnbull to promise that “Medicare will never, ever, ever be privatised”. But Mr Albanese insisted he was not pushing a “negative campaign” but “a positive one”. “What I’ll do is go through the policies,” he said. “I want to bring Australians together. I want to lift people up, not punch down on people.” ‘Trump has a different perspective’ The re-election of Donald Trump has prompted many Western capitals to rethink their relationship with Washington. The experience in Canberra has been no different, with both Labor and the Coalition increasingly at odds with the Trump White House on century-defining foreign policy issues, such as Ukraine and Gaza. Mr Albanese was among the many world leaders who publicly posted support for Volodymyr Zelensky and his country after the Ukrainian leader’s broadcast clash with the US President. Stefanovic asked Mr Albanese how he was “going to deal with Donald Trump”. “I’ll deal with him the way I deal with other world leaders — respectfully,” Mr Albanese replied. Stefanovic pressed further, calling Mr Trump “a proper running renegade”. “Well, Donald Trump has a different perspective from mine, that’s very clear, but we have so much in common,” Mr Albanese said. “The trade relationship is very important. The AUKUS security arrangements are so important.” AUKUS has emerged as an area of agreement between the new US administration. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in January praised the trilateral security pact between Australia, the *** and the US, as “almost a blueprint” for how Washington could work with allies. The agreement, which will see the *********** Navy kitted out with nuclear-powered submarines, was forged against a backdrop of increased ******** assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific. A shared hawkishness on China would likely be welcomed by policymakers in Canberra following Beijing’s deployment of warships to lurk along Australia’s vast coastlines and conduct live fire drills. On the ******** flotilla, Mr Albanese said its “presence there is consistent with international law”. “I’ve said with the relationship with China that we’ll co-operate where we can, we’ll disagree where we must, but we’ll engage in our national interests,” he expanded. “Bearing in mind in the previous term, there wasn’t a single phone conversation, let alone a meeting.” He highlighted the removal of trade barriers opening up some $20bn in exports to China. “What that means is jobs here in Australia and economic growth here in Australia,” he said. How to turn crossplay on or off in Monster Hunter Wilds How to turn crossplay on or off in Monster Hunter Wilds Try as they might, your Palico can’t provide the same level of support as another human hunter in Monster Hunter Wilds. When you reach the endgame hunts, playing with friends is the best tip we can give you to overcome those deadly hunts. Monster Hunter Wilds is a cross-platform game, so there’s no barrier to who you can call in for support, but sometimes you might want to limit your options. Here’s how to toggle your crossplay options. Capcom How to turn crossplay on or off Crossplay lets you not only invite or join players on any platform, but also allow others to join you if you are in an open lobby and call for help with an SOS beacon. This makes finding help much easier and faster, but may not be ideal in every instance. Here’s how to change your crossplay settings. Step 1: Go to the Quest Counter by speaking to Alma. Step 2: Go to the Settings tab. Step 3: Scroll down and select Platform Permissions. Step 4: You can select between allowing players from all platforms or just your own. By default, Monster Hunter Wilds will set your crossplay permissions to all, so unless you want to limit your options to only players on your specific platform, you don’t need to do anything to be fully crossplay enabled. The dust settles on Nvidia: Morning Brief The dust settles on Nvidia: Morning Brief This is The Takeaway from today’s Morning Brief, which you can sign up to receive in your inbox every morning along with: The dust has settled on the latest Nvidia (NVDA) earnings week frenzy. And I think it’s important to take stock of where things stand for the world’s most important stock (sorry, Apple (AAPL)). Why? Because you should be thinking about whether the pullback in Nvidia is a buying opportunity or the start of a deeper sell-off as expectations are reset. We know Nvidia’s margins in the first half of the year will be below their usual robust levels as Blackwell AI chips ramp up. I would argue the Street knew this ahead of the results, so they got flustered over nothing. On Nvidia’s earnings call, execs sought to push back on the bears, who have put forth a narrative that there will be a digestion ******* for AI investments by hyperscalers such as Amazon (AMZN) and that Nvidia’s margins may have peaked. “Once our Blackwell fully rounds, we can improve our cost and our gross margin,” Nvidia CFO Colette Kress said. “So, we expect to probably be in the mid-70s later this year.” We also know that, fundamentally, Nvidia’s business is strong and likely to stay strong. Fourth quarter revenue rose 12% sequentially and 78% from the prior year. Data center sales more than doubled from the prior year. Earnings handily beat analyst estimates. “We’re going to have to continue to scale as demand is quite high, and customers are anxious and impatient to get their Blackwell systems,” Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said. Nowhere in the company’s 2025 guidance or commentary from Huang did I sense that AMD (AMD) is taking Nvidia’s market share; ditto custom chips from Amazon. I heard no hint that hyperscalers are sending AI chips back to Nvidia or have stopped fawning over Jensen to get more of these chips at any cost. Put together, I would argue what we heard from Nvidia in terms of demand and margins was all well known going into the results. So, the sell-off could prove to be an overreaction, a function of investors aiming to model out mixed first quarter guidance for the next two years. But there are a couple of things we don’t yet know about Nvidia that warrant greater attention. These play into the long-term bull thesis. A quote from Wedbush analyst Dan Ives says, For starters, there’s Huang’s point about DeepSeek’s R1 requiring 100x more compute resources compared to pre-training models due to inference time scaling. Look, most of us have no clue what this even means. But the casual observer could read it as the market has it strong on DeepSeek, and there could be a lot of upside to Nvidia estimates as DeepSeek and other reasoning models gain hold. Story Continues And the second thing we don’t know is the long-term impact of what Huang will show off at Nvidia’s GTC event on March 17. “We’re going to provide a big, huge step-up [in performance],” Huang said. “And so, come to GTC, and I’ll talk to you about Blackwell Ultra, Vera Rubin, and then show you the one click after that. Really exciting new products to come at GTC.” To me, these new chips could blow Blackwell’s performance away and reinforce Nvidia’s leading position in the space. The last thing that is unclear is how nation-states’ buildout of AI infrastructure will drive demand for Nvidia chips. A16z general partner Anjney Midha suggests the Street may be undervaluing the opportunity (see Opening Bid episode above). I am not some crazy Nvidia bull, which is worth nothing. But I am a practitioner of common sense when studying stocks, companies, and leaders. And when it comes to Nvidia, it’s silly to think what we heard from the company is going to send the stock to end 2025 lower. morning brief image Brian Sozzi is Yahoo Finance’s Executive Editor. Helldivers 2 Could Severely Benefit From Utilizing a Core Mechanic From Monster Hunter Wilds Helldivers 2 Could Severely Benefit From Utilizing a Core Mechanic From Monster Hunter Wilds Without a doubt, Arrowhead Game Studios does a great job at designing the maps for Helldivers 2. Most of the things on the game’s maps are destructible, however, there is room for improvement. The last main Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Rise, featured environmental traps, so Capcom basically created the environment in such a way that players can use it to take out the creatures. Helldivers 2 could do better with environmental traps (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios) Helldivers 2 needs to replicate this mechanic, as the game has a lot of potential. Using massive boulders on rocky planets to take out enemies would make the combat experience much more exciting. Capcom would certainly expand on this mechanic in the upcoming Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Wilds. Helldivers 2 needs to let players interact with the environment to get kills Nowadays, almost every video game lets players interact with the environment and even use it to take down enemies. Some games explicitly allow players to utilise the environment to kill enemies, Monster Hunter Rise is one such example. The game highlights the environmental traps on the map, allowing players to inflict a lot of damage on the monsters easily once they lure them into these traps. One such game that would thrive with this mechanic is Helldivers 2 because there are a lot of opportunities all over the map in the game. For example, players can find boulders or holes on different maps, which players could use to their advantage. Interacting with the environment makes video games much more immersive and engaging. The upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds will certainly set new standards for this mechanic, so gamers should expect to see this in other video games soon. Helldivers 2 has destructible environments, but Arrowhead needs to introduce environmental traps that players can set up to take down heavy units. The Finals is another great example of how players could alter the environment to use it to their advantage. Arrowhead recently added a new map that is perfect for replicating what Embark Studios did while developing maps for The Finals. Helldivers 2 also needs enterable buildings Arrowhead can improve the new urban maps (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios) As a part of the Omens of Tyranny update, Arrowhead Game Studios added urban environments to the game, allowing players to fight in city-like settings. The new maps were certainly exciting, but the studio could add a few more things to make these new maps much more immersive. Firstly, it needs to have enterable buildings that can be destroyed. This would allow players to find a new angle to take out the enemies, but it would come with the risk of the entire building getting destroyed. Secondly, since the setting is city-like, it must have different stores which players could loot for stims or even ammo. Lastly, since it’s a Super Earth colony, it needs to have some underground bunkers or tunnels that players can use to seek shelter or navigate around the map. How to call support hunters in Monster Hunter Wilds How to call support hunters in Monster Hunter Wilds You can learn every tip and trick there is about Monster Hunter Wilds, but eventually you will encounter a monster that is just too much to take on alone. Normally, players are encouraged to play with friends against this high ranking foes, but they may not always be online. Or, some might not want other real players in their game. For that, we have Support Hunters. If you need a hand with a hunt but don’t want to call in other humans, here’s how to do it. Capcom How to call in Support Hunters Support Hunters are NPC characters from your team that can show up when sending out an SOS flare to help you complete your current quest. Because they’re NPCs, they will follow your lead and do their best to aid you. They won’t be as good as a skilled player, but they get the job done. However, if you just join a normal lobby in Monster Hunter Wilds then it will default to trying to recruit other humans first, only resorting to Support Hunters if it can’t find any. If you want to force the game to only give you Support Hunters, either start the game or change to the Online Single Player Lobby. You can switch lobby types at the Quest Counter if you need. Another way to ensure you get Support Hunters without changing lobbies is to go to the Quest Counter and settings and choosing Multiplayer Status . Here, you can choose to only allow for Support Hunters to join you. Unless you are set on not including other humans in your game for whatever reason, we do suggest not relying on Support Hunters. Once you get to the high rank hunts especially, you will need a coordinated team of real players to succeed. Wild ride takes Knights six points clear in Japan Wild ride takes Knights six points clear in Japan Robbie Deans has won the battle of the former Wallaby coaches in Japan Rugby League One, with his Saitama Wild Knights beating Dave Rennie’s Kobe Steelers 46-32 to extend their lead at the top of the table to six points. ***********-schooled back-rowers Jack Cornelsen and Ben Gunter were both among the try-scorers for the winners. Their efforts backed up a masterful performance from Springbok inside centre Damien de Allende, who crossed twice, while also setting up a try for former Wellington Hurricanes winger Vince Aso. Kobe, who have not beaten the Wild Knights in 22 years, must have thought this was their time when they scored tries either side of halftime to lead 32-20. However, three tries in a devastating six-minute ******* between the 57th and 63rd minutes blew away those hopes. Shizuoka Blue Revs (fourth) and Yokohama Eagles (fifth) retained their places in the top six after Sunday’s wins over Mie Heat and Tokyo Sungoliath, with the Eagles’ 33-22 success in Tokyo seeing them jump one place above Kobe on the standings. On Saturday Wallabies Bernard Foley and Samu Kerevi were each yellow-carded. Kerevi’s second card for a dangerous tackle in three weeks came during bottom-placed Urayasu D-Rocks’ nail-biting 36-31 defeat by Steve Hansen’s Verblitz. Foley was sent to the sidelines for his team’s repeated infringing as the third-placed Spears Funabashi Tokyo Bay fell short in a 31-27 loss to Brave Lupus Tokyo. The sanction was part of a mixed afternoon for the ex-Wallaby flyhalf, who played a leading hand in two of the Spears’ tries but missed two conversions, which proved vital. Verblitz romped ahead 28-0 but got the wobbles defensively as Kerevi’s side roared back into the contest, although Steve Hansen’s side held on to secure their second win of the season. ****** Rams Tokyo continued their recent improvement, accounting for Sagamihara Dynaboars 22-7, with former *********** under-20 winger Semisi Tupou touching down for the third week in a row. In Division Two, tries by former Wallabies Quade Cooper and Will Genia, along with All ****** Akira Ioane, were not enough as Hanazono Liners were beaten 36-29 by former All ****** Lima Sopoaga’s Koto Blue Sharks. How to change appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds How to change appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds You could read hundreds of tips and tricks on Monster Hunter Wilds for things like customizing your radial menu or playing with friends, but you are left to your own devices when creating your character. You have a ton of options thrown at you before even setting foot in the world, let alone picking your weapon and fighting a monster, such as your face, hair, clothes, eyes, ears, and more. Is Nvidia Stock a Buy Now? Is Nvidia Stock a Buy Now? Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) reported financial results for its fiscal 2025 fourth quarter (ended Jan. 26), and the business exceeded Wall Street expectations. Revenue of $39.3 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $0.89 came in ahead of estimates. Nonetheless, shares were down on the morning following the announcement. Maybe the numbers still weren’t as good as the market hoped, which isn’t surprising given the amount of excitement surrounding Nvidia. The current 15% dip off the peak share price might draw attention from opportunistic investors. Is Nvidia a buy now? Let’s take a closer look at the bull and bear cases for this top artificial intelligence (AI) stock before coming to a more informed decision. The most obvious bull argument for Nvidia is its unbelievable growth trajectory. Revenue jumped 114% higher in fiscal 2025. And in the past five years, that top-line figure is up a ridiculous 12-fold. The company’s powerful graphics processing units (GPU) are seeing tremendous demand, particularly from cloud service providers. And management is optimistic about the potential for the new architecture, known for better reasoning and inference. “The demand for Blackwell is extraordinary,” CEO Jensen Huang said on the Q4 2025 earnings call. Nvidia is in a favorable position as the picks-and-shovels infrastructure provider in the AI *****. Growth is impressive, but what’s equally awe-inspiring is the bottom line. Nvidia is incredibly profitable. Its operating margin came in at 61% in the latest fiscal quarter. That’s up from 39% just three years ago. There is clearly some scale advantage here, as expenses increase at a slower pace than sales. Owning companies that possess an economic moat is a smart move, as this key trait helps protect against competitive threats. Nvidia arguably benefits from intangible assets with the technical know-how that supports its ability to innovate and launch new products and services in the GPU market. What’s more, customers likely have switching costs, particularly with the CUDA software. Once these customers install Nvidia GPUs and get onboarded with the computing platform and programming model, it becomes more of a headache to change providers. Investors can gain a thorough understanding about a stock’s merits by looking at all sides — including the bear case. I think there are a few main points to highlight here. The release of the DeepSeek-R1 from China shook the industry. The worry is that if AI models can be run much more cheaply — as DeepSeek developers claim — then why spend so much on Nvidia’s expensive GPUs? One implication is that maybe revenue and profits will face mounting pressure. Story Continues The majority of Nvidia’s revenue comes from a handful of accounts. Intense customer concentration hasn’t been an issue thus far, as these so-called hyperscalers have unlimited financial resources and an incentive not to get left behind in the AI race. But these businesses are developing their own chips to power AI capabilities, essentially aiming to move upstream in the value chain to bring things in-house as opposed to outsourcing. It’s anyone’s guess how long it takes for these customers to move away from Nvidia. But that risk is certainly something to keep in mind, and could limit Nvidia’s long-term revenue potential. As of this writing, Nvidia shares trade at a forward P/E ratio of 28.1. Given the company’s strong growth and profitability, this valuation might be reasonable for some investors. Wall Street consensus analyst estimates call for sales to skyrocket 111% over the next three fiscal years. This robust outlook could justify the valuation. There’s a lot of uncertainty, though. The AI industry is changing so rapidly that no one knows how things are going to look even just 12 or 24 months from now. And because spending on AI-related investments in aggregate is becoming so massive, what happens in an economic downturn? There’s a chance that Nvidia will see plummeting demand. This company’s rise has been spectacular. However, I believe the bear case holds more weight, so I don’t think the stock is a smart buy. Ever feel like you missed the boat in buying the most successful stocks? Then you’ll want to hear this. On rare occasions, our expert team of analysts issues a “Double Down” stock recommendation for companies that they think are about to pop. If you’re worried you’ve already missed your chance to invest, now is the best time to buy before it’s too late. And the numbers speak for themselves: Nvidia: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2009, you’d have $323,920!* Apple: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2008, you’d have $45,851!* Netflix: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2004, you’d have $528,808!* Right now, we’re issuing “Double Down” alerts for three incredible companies, and there may not be another chance like this anytime soon. Monster Hunter Wilds weapons guide Monster Hunter Wilds weapons guide There are dozens of important tips and tricks you need to master in Monster Hunter Wilds, but they all pale in comparison to learning how to use your weapon effectively. All 14 are available right from the start and each one completely changes the flow of a hunt. Experienced hunters will be familiar with most of them, but there are some new aspects to take into account this time around. If you plan on playing with friends especially then you will want to make sure you’re not holding the team back by just spamming attack. Before you put a new weapon on your wishlist, check out this quick weapons guide for Monster Hunter Wilds. Weapons guide Capcom As mentioned, there are 14 weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. We will give you a basic idea of each one’s strengths, weaknesses, and playstyle but the best thing you can do to decide is take on into the training area and try it out. Great Sword If you like a slow weapon that packs a massive punch, the Great Sword is still the king. This is the iconic weapon of the franchise capable of high-damage charge attacks and a block. You need to be brave and account for your slow swing speeds to land a hit, but once you do, it will count. Long Sword A sword so long even Sephiroth would be jealous. This weapon allows you to perform perfect dodges and counterattacks more like an action game. It also has nice wide, sweeping attacks for smaller mobs and hitting multiple parts of a monster at once. Landing hits builds a spirit gauge you can spend on a special combo that buffs your attack. Sword and Shield If you’re new to the series, this is a great weapon to start with. It has fast attacks with the sword and shield, a decent block, dodge, and is the only weapon that lets you use items without having to put your weapon away first. Dual Blades For something a bit more fancy, the Dual Blades are just as fast but have more layers to consider. They give you a ****** and Archdemon gauge that buffs your attack power and speed as you build each one up. If you want to be fast and aggressive, give these a whirl. Hammer The Hammer is a lot like the Great Sword, only dealing blunt damage that can quickly tire a monster out or stun it if you target the right body parts. You’re not as slow with this weapon and have a dodge, but no guard. Hunting ***** This weapon is one best saved for veterans or players who are part of a dedicated squad. The ***** plays different tunes that buff yourself and other hunters in addition to attacks, meaning you need to pay attention to the entire battlefield and know which buffs to trigger when. Lance If you fancy yourself a tank, pick up the Lance. This weapon lets you attack from relative safety behind your big shield at the expense of speed and damage. What it lacks in damage, however, it makes up for in targeted damage. You can easily wound and exploit a monster’s limbs with precise thrusts. Gunlance The Gunlance is basically what it says on the tin. You still have the heavy shield, but now focus on shooting explosive shells. It gives you a lot more range to work with and has a dodge. Switch Axe This weapon feels ripped right out of Bloodborne. You can use it as a heavy axe or transform it into a more nimble sword. Each one has their strengths, such as being able to cause explosions, but neither are the best in their class. If you want to be as versatile as possible, go with this. Charge Blade Another transforming weapon, the Charge Blade also has an axe mode as well as a sword and shield. Most consider this the most difficult weapon to master in the series since using one mode powers up the second and each has their own complete combo list to internalize. Insect Glaive Verticality is better in Monster Hunter Wilds than ever before. The Insect Glave will let you leap and sping around the environment and make mounting monsters a breeze. You will need to snag parts of monsters with your Kinsect during fights to buff yourself otherwise you will deal very little damage. Light Bowgun The first pure ranged weapon, this bowgun keeps you light on your feet and has a fast rate of fire for great DPS if you can keep the monster in your sights. Landing hits build up a gauge you can spend on a Rapid Fire ability to unload all at once. Just make sure you come stocked with ammo. Heavy Bowgun We suggest saving the Heavy Bowgun for party hunts since it is most effective from long-range while others draw aggro. You do have an auto-guard just in case, but an ideal run with this weapon will have you sniping from a distance with the correct ammo type to bring down your target. Bow The Bow is unique compared to the other two ranged weapons. It uses your stamina to draw and fire but encourages you to stay somewhat close since a perfect dodge will completely refill your stamina. The coolest feature, though, is the tracer shot. Once you land this, all the arrows you shoot after will home in on that spot. Eventually, the tracer explodes for even more damage. Where to find iron in Monster Hunter Wilds Where to find iron in Monster Hunter Wilds Ask any Monster Hunter Wilds player and they will tell you that the most important tip and trick to know is how vital it is to always upgrade your gear. There are no levels like a normal RPG, so the only way to get stronger is to forge better weapons and armor at the blacksmith. Like almost every game, you can’t just make better gear for free. It costs you money and the raw materials to make it. One of the early materials you will need to get is iron. Unlike monster parts, you need to go out of your way to find deposits of iron to mine to get your hands on it. If you’re at a loss for where to track down this ore, here’s where you can find iron in Monster Hunter Wilds. Where to find iron Capcom Iron is a very common resource in the starting area of Monster Hunter Wilds, Windward Plains, but it also shows up in Scarlet Forest. You can see it as a big blue geode on the ground and a blue icon on your map. The easiest way to locate them on your map is to open your map and open the Filter Icons menu. Turn everything off except for the Mining Outcrop icons. Then, all you need to do is find an iron one on your map, set a waypoint, and have your Seikret take you there. You do not need to have a pickaxe or special tool to mine iron. Just approach the outrop and press the interact button to start chipping away at it. Each one can give you three iron, so don’t stop mashing the button until you fully drain it. Source link #find #iron #Monster #Hunter #Wilds Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

Google Taara could deliver internet at the speed of light
Pelican Press posted a topic in World News
Google Taara could deliver internet at the speed of light Google Taara could deliver internet at the speed of light Everyone knows the woes of slow internet connection speeds, but the Google Taara chip could provide Internet to previously unreachable areas — and at speeds of up to 20Gbps per second. This project has been in development for years, but the team behind it just announced the next-generation Taara chip. Taara is a silicon photonic chip, which is a technical way of saying it transmits data through the air using beams of light. The original version of Taara worked, but it had limitations — namely, the complicated series of mirrors and hardware needed to adjust the direction of the beam. The new version utilizes advanced software to steer the beam. What’s more, the original project — Taara Lightbridge — was the size of a traffic light. Those look small hanging above the road, but they’re significantly bulkier up close. The second generation shrinks the required size to that of a fingernail. This map shows how undersea cables build the backbone of the internet. Submarine Cable Map / NA By using light as its medium, Taara is able to find near-infinite bandwidth in the middle of the spectrum. A quick science lesson: the electromagnetic spectrum is broken down into different frequencies. Visible light is one of these. Taara uses the part of the spectrum that lies between infrared and visible light. By using a narrow beam of light (invisible to the eye), Taara transmits data as fast as 20Gbps for up to 20km at once. The chip can be installed and set up in a matter of hours, compared to the months or years it takes to install fiber infrastructure. Taara will be available in 2026, but while installation may be fast, adoption is slow. It’s likely to be years before this technology is readily available for the average consumer, but this breakthrough is a step in the right direction and is essential for bringing internet connectivity to areas where traditional infrastructure can’t go. Seeing food in VR games? This sensor will put the real taste in your mouth Seeing food in VR games? This sensor will put the real taste in your mouth Table of Contents Table of Contents How it works? The possibilities for VR, and beyond The road to a realistic metaverse Over the past few years, researchers have tried to make virtual reality (VR) experiences even more immersive and personal. For example, back in 2022, the experts over at Stockholm University created a machine called olfactometer, which let users smell what they were seeing in a game while wearing a VR headset. But smell is only half the picture. What if you could actually deliver a real taste on the tongue? A team from the Ohio State University have created a sensing system called e-Taste that can replicate the taste of a real food items and drinks, and deliver it straight to another person’s tongue living hundreds of miles away. The e-Taste consists of two components — a taster and a receiver. The sensor contains a special patch that can detect the fundamental molecules responsible for the five varieties of taste viz. bitter, salty, sour, sweet, and umami. As part of their research, the team focused on detecting glucose and glutamate on the sensor patch. How it works? Ohio State University / Science Advances During the tests, a California-based person sipping lemonade dipped the taster patch inside the beverage. The sensor patch detected the concentration of target chemicals in the lemonade, and transmitted that electrochemical data to the receiver kit sitting in an Ohio lab. The receiver part includes a patch that rests on the tongue and a pump connected to a liquid channel of solutions. When stimulated electrically, the liquid passes through a gel-based system onto a person’s tongue, providing a realistic sense of tasting food. The specific taste and its intensity can be adjusted by changing the volume of fluid discharged by the pump. During the human trials, the participants wearing the receiver kit were able to identify different levels of sourness with a 70% accuracy. “Beyond helping to build a better and more dynamic gaming experience, the study notes that the work could be useful in promoting accessibility and inclusivity in virtual spaces for individuals with disabilities, like those with traumatic brain injuries or Long Covid, which brought gustatory loss to mainstream attention,” says the team. Ohio State University / Science Advances It could also help with identification and tasting of potential food sources in harsh conditions, online shopping, remote education, quality monitoring for freshness and consistency by robotic machines and remote analysis of taste perception by doctors. The team tested e-Taste over two network protocols. The short-range implementation covered a distance of 200 meters, while the long-range design relies on an internet connection with no limit on the distance involved. The possibilities for VR, and beyond “This concept is here and it is a good first step to becoming a small part of the metaverse,” says Jinghua Li, co-author of the paper and faculty member at the institution. This won’t be the first attempt of its kind to augment the VR experience with a sense of smell or taste. Two years ago, OVR revealed the ION 3 wearable kit for XR hardware that can produce hundreds of scents using a system of cartridges. The folks over at City University of Hong Kong and Beihang University in China developed a patch-based wearable sensor that relies on miniaturized odor generators using perfumed wax. Ohio State University / Science Advances The VR kit can recognize visuals and produce the corresponding scent in roughly two seconds. But when it comes to the perception of taste, the sense of smell (or olfaction) plays an equally important role. The industry has already figured out how to deliver smell as part of AR and VR experiences. The e-Taste system demonstrates that remotely triggering realistic taste on the tongue is also possible. In addition to lemonade, the team also tested the human participants with food grade chemicals that represent the taste of cake, fried egg, coffee, and fish soup. This mixed-taste analysis was conducted using a mixed-channel e-Taste system called the digital cup. As far as latency goes, the short-range format measured at 0.3 second, while the figures for long-range information transfer stood at 1.4 seconds. The sensor response time, on the other hand, was roughly ten seconds. The road to a realistic metaverse “The gustatory interface will pave the way for a new era of AR/VR systems with chemical components by allowing users not only to visualize and hear virtual environments but also to taste them,” says the research paper. The team is now focused on miniaturizing the e-Taste sensing kit. Moreover, they are also experimenting with a non-gel solution for delivering the taste chemicals. One of those ideas involves using separate pouches of water and taste fluid, and accordingly varying the concentration. Ohio State University / Science Advances Water solves another crucial problem: residual chemicals in the channel connected to the tongue. After each session, a water flow would internally clean the pipe and reduce chances of any taste contamination for future sessions. Learnings from the e-Taste system can be used to develop VR gaming systems that can help users get an immersive sensation combining real taste and smell of what they’re seeing in a virtual world. For now, what we have is an experimentally-validated system that it’s possible to fold taste into the virtual experiences. What remains is the miniaturization of the whole system and standardizing the electrochemical data representing various food items and beverages. Beyond the domain of VR, and moving on to your humble computing station, there’s another solution that is about to launch in the market. Asus recently introduced a mouse that comes with a refillable pouch for aromatic oils. It can diffuse nice scents in the air while adding some zen to the whole work environment. Huge US 127 construction project resumes Monday. Bring your patience Huge US 127 construction project resumes Monday. Bring your patience LANSING — Another spring, another major road construction project. That’s how it’s gone the last few years in the Lansing area, where the state highway department is about mid-way through the process of revamping the U.S. 127 corridor between Interstate 69 in southern Clinton County and the southern Ingham County line. Up this year is Phase 2 of the rebuild between Interstates 96 and 496. It is slated to kick off on Monday, March 3, and conclude late this year. Here’s what you need to know about it. What’s happening this year? Crews will rebuild the southbound lanes of the freeway along the 3½-mile stretch between the two interstates, essentially mirroring what they did last year on the northbound side. All traffic will be shifted to the northbound side so workers can tear up and replace the broken concrete of the southbound lanes. For the most part, two lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions on the new pavement, avoiding the need for a moveable barrier like the state deployed last year, but pinch points will remain at the north and south ends of the work zone, where the crossover lanes will go, officials said. This MDOT map provides an overview of the multi-year U.S. 127 corridor improvement project. The Michigan Department of Transportation said it expects to have traffic controls in place by about mid-March. As it did last year, the project will entail multiple ramp closings, detours and slowdowns, and MDOT suggests drivers plan their commutes accordingly. Crews again will focus first on the southern section of the work zone, between Dunckel Road and I-96, in an effort to get it done quickly and relieve congestion there. Officials are asking drivers to be patient. “My hope is that eveybody sees how nice that (new side of the feeway) is, and maybe we get a little extra patience from the public this year while we’re working on southbound,” Trevor Block, who is overseeing the project for MDOT, said during a Feb. 13 webinar hosted by Choose Lansing, the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce and MDOT. What has already been done? The state resurfaced U.S. 127 and made other improvements from the Jackson County line to just north of Mason in 2022 and 2023. It has also rebuilt bridges at the U.S. 127/I-496 interchange. The northbound side of the freeway between Interstates 96 and 496 was rebuilt last year, and the same will happen with the southbound side this year. Where do we go from here? MDOT will turn its attention north after finishing the section of freeway between I-96 and I-496 this year. In 2026, the agency plans to rebuild both sides of the freeway between I-69 and a point south of Lake Lansing Road. That section will be rebuilt by milling the concrete and laying down an asphalt overlay, according to an online project overview. “In addition to this work, the project will improve bridges through this corridor as well as upgrade drainage, signs, intelligent transportation systems, and pavement markings,” MDOT said. The next two years −2027 and 2028 −will be devoted to rebuilding and realigning the section from I-496 to just south of Lake Lansing Road. “In addition to pavement repairs, this project will improve bridges through this corridor as well as upgrade drainage, signs, intelligent transportation systems, and pavement markings,” the agency said. Traffic restrictions and other details about those last two phases haven’t been announced. Contact Ken Palmer at *****@*****.tld. Follow him on X @KBPalm_lsj. Top Wall Street analysts are upbeat on the long-term potential of these stocks Top Wall Street analysts are upbeat on the long-term potential of these stocks Worrisome economic data, weak consumer sentiment and tariff fears contributed to a rocky ride for stocks in February, with the S&P 500 losing 1.4% during the month. Investors should pick stocks of companies that can withstand these short-term pressures and capture growth opportunities to deliver attractive returns over the long term. To this end, recommendations of top Wall Street analysts are helpful, as they are based on in-depth analysis of a company’s strengths, challenges and growth prospects. With that in mind, here are three stocks favored by the Street’s top pros, according to TipRanks, a platform that ranks analysts based on their past performance. Booking Holdings First up is Booking Holdings (BKNG), one of the leading online travel agents. The company delivered market-crushing fourth-quarter results, thanks to strong travel demand. Booking Holdings is investing in its business to drive long-term growth through several initiatives, including deploying generative artificial intelligence technology to enhance the value it provides to travelers and its partners. In reaction to the stellar results, Evercore analyst Mark Mahaney reiterated a buy rating on BKNG stock and boosted the price target to $5,500 from $5,300. The analyst noted that the company’s solid Q4 beat was driven by strength across all geographic markets and travel verticals. He also highlighted that BKNG’s fundamentals improved across the board, with key metrics like bookings, revenue and room nights growth accelerating in the quarter. In fact, Mahaney pointed out that despite being more than two-times ******* than Airbnb and three-times ******* than Expedia in terms of room nights, BKNG’s bookings, revenue and room nights grew faster than these two rivals in Q4 2024. Given its massive scale, superior growth, very high margin, and a highly experienced management team, the analyst considers BKNG to be the highest quality online travel stock. “And we continue to view BKNG as reasonably priced, with sustainable & premium EPS growth (15%), substantial FCF [free cash flow] generation, and a clear track record of execution,” said Mahaney. Overall, Mahaney is confident that BKNG can maintain its long-term target of 8% growth in bookings and revenue and 15% growth in EPS. He is also encouraged by BKNG’s multi-year strategic investments in merchandising, flights, payments, connected trips and generative AI as well as the growing traffic to the company’s site. Mahaney ranks No. 26 among more than 9,400 analysts tracked by TipRanks. His ratings have been profitable 61% of the time, delivering an average return of 27.3%. See Booking Holdings Stock Charts on TipRanks. Visa The second stock pick is payments processing giant Visa (V). At the investor day event held on Feb. 20, the company discussed its growth strategy and the revenue opportunity in its Value Added Services (VAS) and other businesses. Following the event, BMO Capital analyst Rufus Hone reaffirmed a buy rating on Visa stock with a price target of $370. The analyst stated that the event helped address many investor concerns like the remaining runway in Consumer Payments and the company’s ability to sustain a high-teens growth in VAS. The analyst highlighted management’s commentary about the significant remaining runway in Consumer Payments. Specifically, the company estimates a $41 trillion volume opportunity in Consumer Payments, of which $23 trillion is currently underserved by the existing payment infrastructure. Commenting on the VAS business, Hone noted that the company offered significant insights into its VAS business. Notably, Visa projects longer-term revenue growth in the range of 9% to 12% and expects a continued shift in its revenue mix into the faster-growing Commercial & Money Movement Solutions (CMS) and VAS businesses, which will offset the expected moderation in Consumer Payments growth. Visa expects CMS and VAS to contribute more than 50% of its total revenue over time, compared to roughly one-third in FY24. Finally, Hone views Visa stock as a core holding within the U.S. financial space. “We continue to believe Visa will sustain double-digit top-line growth for the foreseeable future (consensus ~10% growth),” concluded the analyst. Hone ranks No. 543 among more than 9,400 analysts tracked by TipRanks. His ratings have been successful 76% of the time, delivering an average return of 16.7%. See Visa Hedge Fund Activity on TipRanks. CyberArk Software The third stock on this week’s list is CyberArk Software (CYBR). The company recently announced solid Q4 2024 results, reflecting strong demand for its identity security solutions. On Feb. 24, the company held its investor day event to discuss its performance and growth prospects. Following the investor day, Baird analyst Shrenik Kothari reiterated a buy rating on CYBR stock and increased the price target to $465 from $455. The analyst stated that the event reinforced the company’s dominance in the cybersecurity space. Specifically, CyberArk now sees a total addressable market (TAM) of $80 billion, reflecting a notable jump from the previous estimate of $60 billion. Kothari explained that the expansion in CyberArk’s TAM is driven by the demand for machine-identity solutions, AI-driven security, and modern Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions. The analyst noted that the 45 times surge in machine identities compared to human identities has created a huge security gap, which CyberArk is well-positioned to capture through its Venafi acquisition. Moreover, the company’s Zilla Security acquisition is helping in addressing the need for modern IGA solutions. Coming to AI-driven security needs, Kothari highlighted CyberArk’s innovation, especially the launch of CORA AI. Kothari added that management is targeting annual recurring revenue of $2.3 billion and a free cash flow margin of 27% by 2028, backed by platform consolidation trends. “Deep enterprise pipeline/adoption, execution discipline should sustain CYBR’s long-term growth trajectory, in our view,” the analyst said. Kothari ranks No. 78 among more than 9,400 analysts tracked by TipRanks. His ratings have been profitable 74% of the time, delivering an average return of 27.7%. ‘Sanctuary city’ mayors hope to avoid an embarrassing spectacle in Congress ‘Sanctuary city’ mayors hope to avoid an embarrassing spectacle in Congress Democratic mayors of four cities with sanctuary policies to protect migrants are consulting with advisers, hiring lawyers and preparing to redact documents ahead of a grilling by House Republicans — hoping to avoid the kind of Capitol Hill spectacle that embarrassed three Ivy League presidents a little over a year ago. These mayors are also furiously conferring with anyone they know who can offer insight and counsel about how to handle the kind of scrutiny that resulted in the ouster of University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill following the late 2023 congressional hearing on antisemitism at elite colleges. Just as Republicans hammered Magill and others for what they saw as condoning alleged threats to Jewish students and faculty, Republican members of Congress will on Wednesday ask the mayors of New York, Chicago, Boston and Denver to defend their more permissive immigration policies against high-profile, if isolated, episodes of violent crime by undocumented immigrants. “I just want to make sure that people understand that [this is] a city that has been established by immigrants and migrants who were formerly enslaved,” Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson told reporters about the message he hopes to relay to Congress. “It’s the global capital of the world, and we’re going to continue to show up at our very best.” Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee are getting ready for this moment, too, especially Chair James Comer, who sat on the Education and Workforce panel that questioned Magill and other university presidents. He said in an interview he was impressed by how Rep. Elise Stefanik, the former education committee chair who President Donald Trump nominated to be U.N. ambassador, ran those proceedings. In a sign of how seriously the Kentucky Republican is taking his own preparations to produce a similar, politically explosive event, he and his members last week sat down to discuss immigration policy with Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff and the architect of some of Trump’s most aggressive efforts to curb ******** immigration, according to a person granted anonymity to describe a private meeting. “We expect accountability — we expect the mandate that President Trump was given on the border to be implemented, and hopefully there won’t be any obstruction or opposition to the law,” Comer, who may run for governor in 2027, said in an interview. “If the mayors are protecting people who are here illegally, then they are breaking the law.” The ramp-up on all sides speaks to the high political stakes of the upcoming hearing, both for the policies at the center of the debate and the political futures of the committee chair and the four mayors: Johnson, Eric Adams of New York, Michelle Wu of Boston and Mike Johnston of Denver. All four cities have struggled to shelter and support the influx of migrants from the Southern border. Adams likely has the most at stake: The Trump Department of Justice recently called for the mayor’s criminal bribery and fraud case to be dismissed, citing his cooperation on immigration enforcement. (Adams continues to deny the charges.) Shortly thereafter, Adams met with border czar Tom Homan and announced he’s drafting an executive order allowing ICE agents back into the city’s Rikers Island jail complex. Adams has rejected criticism he’s beholden to the Trump administration and says he has his constituents’ best interests at heart. Still, observers expect Adams — a former New York Police Department captain — will be treated differently than the other mayors, with Comer contending the New Yorker’s perspective is unique given his cooperation with the administration. “He was one of the first blue city mayors that was representing a sanctuary city that said, ‘wait, we cannot handle anymore. This is a drain on our resources,’” Comer said of Adams. “I think that that’s what makes him a good witness.” Adams will seek to strike a balance before the committee, according to his spokesperson Kayla Mamelak Altus. While the mayor believes in the spirit of sanctuary laws, he also thinks those laws currently go too far. He is expected to testify that immigrants are crucial to his city’s success — but also that the “long-broken immigration system” should be fixed, law-abiding New Yorkers should be protected and violent criminals should be targeted. The mayor has been meeting daily with his legal, intergovernmental and communications teams in preparation for Wednesday’s hearing, Mamelak Altus said. And his deputy mayor for intergovernmental affairs, Tiffany Raspberry, is the liaison to both the Oversight Committee members and the other mayors’ teams. At the same time, the contrast between Adams and the other Democratic mayors could pose a political risk for the three more progressive city leaders — including Johnston of Denver, who said in November he was willing to go to jail over his opposition to Trump’s mass deportation plans. In preparation for the hearing, Johnston has conferred with Sen. Michael Bennet and Rep. Diana DeGette — both Colorado Democrats — for pointers on appearing before Congress. He also has contracted the Washington-based attorney Dana Remus, a former White House counsel for President Joe Biden. The city of Denver is preparing to gather documents requested by federal officials, and it is expected to redact information so the hundreds of city employees who have been involved in the sanctuary city work are not unnecessarily targeted for doing their jobs. Meanwhile, an attorney close to the Chicago mayor’s office hopes to see Johnson stick to his talking points as Republicans may try to pit Adams as “the good compliant mayor and Johnson as the deviant.” The attorney was granted anonymity to discuss internal planning. Johnson has connected with former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, a former federal prosecutor who has experience working with GOP elected officials — including representing congressional Republicans in two high-profile redistricting cases. He is also working with the city’s corporate counsel, Mary Richardson-Lowry, on how to respond to legally sensitive questions, and the city has contracted with outside counsel. Wu, the Boston mayor, has received guidance in advance of the hearing from Rep. Stephen ******, a fellow Massachusetts Democrat who sits on the Oversight Committee. He called after Comer first extended the invitation for Wu and others to testify, ****** said in an interview with a local station. The story Wu is likely to tell is that of her city’s plummeting ******* rate. Boston earned national attention for the drop in homicides last year, and the number of shooting victims and instances of gunfire have also ticked down of late. That has prompted Wu to regularly tout Boston as “the safest major city in the country.” Wednesday will reveal whether the mayors’ preparations are a match for Comer, whose team has been building anticipation for the big event. Last week, Oversight Committee Republicans released a dramatized video, akin to a movie trailer, previewing the hearing, depicting a Constitution burning to reveal the faces of the four Democratic mayors. Ominous music plays, and Comer vows to cut federal funding for those who fail to cooperate with U.S. law. But in a recent interview, Comer maintained that creating a made-for-TV moment was not his goal. He was there when Stefanik asked those university presidents whether calling for the genocide of Jews violated their codes of conduct — a “substantive question,” Comer recalled, adding that rarely do substantive questions go viral. “First of all, our goal is to get the truth, we believe in transparency,” Comer said. “My job isn’t entertainment. Say it isn’t so: Hall will never reunite with Oates Say it isn’t so: Hall will never reunite with Oates Daryl Hall has insisted he’ll never work with his former bandmate John Oates again. The 78-year-old US singer sued his former musical partner Oates in 2023 to stop him from selling their stake in their publishing company, Whole Oats Enterprises. Hall branded the move “the ultimate partnership betrayal” – and while he can’t talk about the ongoing legal proceedings, the singer admitted things have gone too far for them to reunite. He told the Sunday Times’ Culture magazine: “That ship has gone to the bottom of the ocean. I’ve had a lot of surprises in my life, disappointments, betrayals, so I’m kind of used to it… “I’ve been involved with some pretty shady characters over the years. That’s where the problems start.” Hall also admitted he feels frustrated that his prolific songwriting in Hall and Oates – who sold 60 million records – has largely gone unrecognised. “The songs with his lead vocal are the songs he wrote, and all the other ones, which is about 90 per cent, are the ones I wrote… “It was very frustrating.” Hall has worked with former Eurthymics star and producer Dave Stewart on several projects and insists their partnership is far more “meaningful” than the one he had with Oates. “(Dave is) a whirlwind. Witty and amusing, for sure. Also manic. He never stops.” In May, Hall will head out on the road with Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook and, despite his advancing years, he still loves performing live. “(Playing live) is the way that music is supposed to be communicated, and it’s unforgiving. What you do is what people hear.” Source link #isnt #Hall #reunite #Oates Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

Call of Duty could still come to PS4 and Xbox One this year Call of Duty could still come to PS4 and Xbox One this year Call of Duty may still come to PS4 and Xbox One this year, it’s been claimed. The Call of Duty franchise has long been known to continue to release on consoles long past the point where the console maker itself has stopped supporting it. In 2015, Call of Duty: ****** Ops 3 was released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, two years after the release of the PS4 and the Xbox One. However, a new report suggests that Activision could be releasing its 2025 Call of Duty game on last gen’s machines, 5 years after the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S were released. It’s claimed that last-generation versions of the game are in development and will be released alongside the PS5 and Xbox Series versions coming this winter. “Call of Duty 2025 could still release on PS4 and Xbox One, per sources,” claims CharlieIntel, an outlet known for extensive Call of Duty coverage, with a history of posting information about the franchise before it is officially revealed. “Supporting last-gen in 2025 is a wild decision, but the game is in development for the old consoles from what we’ve heard.” The decision to support last generation consoles may be a surprising one to some players, but due to the number of players who are still using a PS4, it is likely that if the last-generation console versions are infact real, they have been motivated by the number of players that haven’t moved on to buy a new system. Last year, Sony claimed that over 49 million of its users were still using the PS4. The PS5 is currently only roughly 1 million consoles behind where the PS4 was sales-wise at this point in its lifecycle (75m vs 76.5m), however, on the Xbox side, sales of Microsoft‘s consoles have reportedly stuttered, tracking behind Xbox One. Call of Duty currently contains all of its products in one Call of Duty launcher across all platforms, so whatever 2025’s Call of Duty game is, it would likely be added to this same system. When the time comes that the last generation systems don’t receive that year’s Call of Duty, it’s possible that this would cause issues for the launcher, potentially motivating Activision to continue to support the system. The hugely popular Warzone mode remains cross-platform and typically ties into that year’s main Call of Duty release, so it’s possible that not releasing that year’s game on a certain platform could effect Warzone compatibility. China investing risks aren’t gone. Wall Street shares its safer plays China investing risks aren’t gone. Wall Street shares its safer plays As excitement over DeepSeek moderated, JPMorgan gave its clients a warning: “Be careful: U.S.-China risks back in focus.” The Feb. 24 note cautioned that the White House’s new America First Investment Policy could trigger a pullback in ******** stocks after the recent rally. Indeed, on Thursday U.S. President Donald Trump said an additional 10% tariff on ******** goods would be coming on March 4. Duties of 25% on Canada and Mexico would also be implemented on that date, he said. Stocks in Hong Kong and mainland China fell Friday on the news. JPMorgan’s stock recommendations for names to add included three ******** real estate-related companies: U.S.-listed KE Holdings and China Resources Land and China Overseas Land and Investment (known as CR Land and Coli, respectively) both traded in Hong Kong. The investment firm rates all three stocks overweight. KE Holdings operates a major brokerage for apartment rentals and home sales in China. CR Land and Coli are two state-owned companies that develop and manage residential and commercial properties in China. “In the coming weeks, we anticipate that Defensive and Value may outperform Growth and that A-shares may outperform offshore listed China/HK equity indices while the market debates downside related to the new” America First Investment Policy, JPMorgan’s chief China equity strategist Wendy Liu and a team wrote in the report. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index was down 2.3% for the week after hitting a three-year high Thursday. The CSI 300 index of major Shanghai and Shenzhen-listed stocks fell 2.2% for the week. “We believe China is the real focus of the Trump administration and posit that a significant worsening of tensions between the worlds’ two largest economies might be inevitable,” Ting Lu, chief China economist at Nomura, said in a note Thursday afternoon Beijing time. “While markets currently appear to be ignoring these risks, they could come to the forefront in coming months,” he said. The new America First Investment Policy has also caught analysts’ attention for its revived focus on ******** companies with alleged ******** military affiliations, and on an audit dispute that recently threatened the delisting of ******** stocks in the U.S. That issue was resolved temporarily in late 2022. “Rising U.S. policy uncertainty, including tariff risks, underscores the importance of [China] delivering forceful macro policy stimulus, boosting private sector confidence, and aiding high-quality and tech (AI) development,” Goldman Sachs analysts said in a Feb. 25 note. In a separate report the following day, the analysts detailed several stock baskets, including one for Asia Pacific ex-Japan domestic consumption that could benefit from additional support due out at China’s so-called Two Sessions that kicks off in the week ahead. The top three ******** names by basket weight, at 10% each, are Meituan Dianping , ******** e-commerce giant Alibaba and its rival PDD Holdings . Hong Kong-listed Meituan Dianping operates apps for food delivery, discovering nearby attractions and getting restaurant deals. The Goldman basket picked Alibaba’s Hong Kong-traded shares, while Pinduoduo and Temu parent PDD trades in the U.S. Coincidentally, analysis from HSBC found that while U.S. investors have the largest positions in Alibaba, Tencent and Meituan, most of the positions are via U.S. mutual funds and are not affected by the White House’s latest policy focus on investments by government pensions and endowment funds. Despite looming U.S. tensions, China’s economic outlook will be front and center in the week ahead. On Wednesday, China is expected to officially raise the deficit and detail stimulus plans , but acknowledge weaker domestic demand with the softest inflation outlook in just over 20 years. The moves follow a high-level directive in September to halt the property sector’s decline. Macquarie’s chief China economist Larry Hu shared Friday three positive signals for the housing market with growing hopes for a bottom this year. He pointed out that housing inventories are due to return to normal levels by the end of the year, while policymakers keen on stopping the decline now seem willing to bail out Vanke, a major developer. In addition, Hu said that rental yields are starting to climb above that of China’s 10-year government bond yield, making housing more attractive relative to other long-term assets. Foreign capital is starting to act on new ******** real estate investment opportunities, particularly given a Beijing policy push to increase rental housing . Invesco last week announced its real estate investment arm formed a joint venture with Ziroom, a ******** company known locally for its standardized, modern-style apartment rentals. Part of the opportunity comes from how traditional developers are less financially able to participate right now, Calvin Chou, head of APAC, Invesco Real Estate, said in an interview. “We think there’s a good runway here.” The joint venture, called Izara Holdings, plans to initially invest 1.2 billion yuan (about $160 million) in a 1,500-room rental housing development near one of the sites for Beijing’s Winter Olympics, with a targeted opening of 2027. Ziroom’s digital system allows the company to quickly assess regional factors to improve operational efficiency of the rental units and control investment risks, Ziroom Asset Management CEO Meng Yue said in a statement, adding that joint venture plans to tap not only a new stage of China’s real estate market, but eventually overseas markets. Ziroom is privately held. It’s a client of KE Holdings, which disclosed in annual reports that it has sold online marketing and agency services to Ziroom. — CNBC’s Michael Bloom contributed to this report. In 1930, there were an estimated 300,000 deer in the U.S. Now, there are more than 30 million. Deer wreak havoc nationwide, causing billions in agricultural losses, triggering potentially fatal traffic accidents, and devastating residential landscapes. Some states’ residents shoulder a disproportionate burden from these ungulate intrusions. DeerFencing.com — unsurprisingly in the business of selling deer fencing solutions — commissioned a study to see which states are most affected by deer overpopulation. It looked at deer population data and search interest related to deer problems to compile its list.
