  1. How to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds How to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds There are dozens of important tips and tricks you need to master in Monster Hunter Wilds, but they all pale in comparison to learning how to use your weapon effectively. All 14 are available right from the start and each one completely changes the flow of a hunt. Experienced hunters will be familiar with most of them, but there are some new aspects to take into account this time around. If you plan on playing with friends especially then you will want to make sure you’re not holding the team back by just spamming attack. Before you put a new weapon on your wishlist, check out this quick weapons guide for Monster Hunter Wilds. Weapons guide As mentioned, there are 14 weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. We will give you a basic idea of each one’s strengths, weaknesses, and playstyle but the best thing you can do to decide is take on into the training area and try it out. Great Sword If you like a slow weapon that packs a massive punch, the Great Sword is still the king. This is the iconic weapon of the franchise capable of high-damage charge attacks and a block. You need to be brave and account for your slow swing speeds to land a hit, but once you do, it will count. Long Sword A sword so long even Sephiroth would be jealous. This weapon allows you to perform perfect dodges and counterattacks more like an action game. It also has nice wide, sweeping attacks for smaller mobs and hitting multiple parts of a monster at once. Landing hits builds a spirit gauge you can spend on a special combo that buffs your attack. Sword and Shield If you’re new to the series, this is a great weapon to start with. It has fast attacks with the sword and shield, a decent block, dodge, and is the only weapon that lets you use items without having to put your weapon away first. Dual Blades For something a bit more fancy, the Dual Blades are just as fast but have more layers to consider. They give you a ****** and Archdemon gauge that buffs your attack power and speed as you build each one up. If you want to be fast and aggressive, give these a whirl. Hammer The Hammer is a lot like the Great Sword, only dealing blunt damage that can quickly tire a monster out or stun it if you target the right body parts. You’re not as slow with this weapon and have a dodge, but no guard. Hunting ***** This weapon is one best saved for veterans or players who are part of a dedicated squad. The ***** plays different tunes that buff yourself and other hunters in addition to attacks, meaning you need to pay attention to the entire battlefield and know which buffs to trigger when. Lance If you fancy yourself a tank, pick up the Lance. This weapon lets you attack from relative safety behind your big shield at the expense of speed and damage. What it lacks in damage, however, it makes up for in targeted damage. You can easily wound and exploit a monster’s limbs with precise thrusts. Gunlance The Gunlance is basically what it says on the tin. You still have the heavy shield, but now focus on shooting explosive shells. It gives you a lot more range to work with and has a dodge. Switch Axe This weapon feels ripped right out of Bloodborne. You can use it as a heavy axe or transform it into a more nimble sword. Each one has their strengths, such as being able to cause explosions, but neither are the best in their class. If you want to be as versatile as possible, go with this. Charge Blade Another transforming weapon, the Charge Blade also has an axe mode as well as a sword and shield. Most consider this the most difficult weapon to master in the series since using one mode powers up the second and each has their own complete combo list to internalize. Insect Glaive Verticality is better in Monster Hunter Wilds than ever before. The Insect Glave will let you leap and sping around the environment and make mounting monsters a breeze. You will need to snag parts of monsters with your Kinsect during fights to buff yourself otherwise you will deal very little damage. Light Bowgun The first pure ranged weapon, this bowgun keeps you light on your feet and has a fast rate of fire for great DPS if you can keep the monster in your sights. Landing hits build up a gauge you can spend on a Rapid Fire ability to unload all at once. Just make sure you come stocked with ammo. Heavy Bowgun We suggest saving the Heavy Bowgun for party hunts since it is most effective from long-range while others draw aggro. You do have an auto-guard just in case, but an ideal run with this weapon will have you sniping from a distance with the correct ammo type to bring down your target. Bow The Bow is unique compared to the other two ranged weapons. It uses your stamina to draw and fire but encourages you to stay somewhat close since a perfect dodge will completely refill your stamina. The coolest feature, though, is the tracer shot. Once you land this, all the arrows you shoot after will home in on that spot. Eventually, the tracer explodes for even more damage. 2. China’s Oppo taps Google for privacy AI push, taking page from Apple China’s Oppo taps Google for privacy AI push, taking page from Apple Oppo is the sixth-largest smartphone maker in China, according to Counterpoint Research. Nurphoto | Nurphoto | Getty Images BARCELONA — ******** smartphone firm Oppo is taking a page out of Apple’s playbook with the launch of a private cloud computing system to keep users’ sensitive conversations separate from its own artificial intelligence products. The company on Monday announced a deal with Google that will see it use the U.S. tech firm’s Confidential Computing software, which uses encryption to ensure user data can’t be viewed by third parties, to power a new privacy-preserving solution it’s calling Private Computing Cloud. The idea is to make sure that users’ sensitive data such as browser searches and private calls can’t be shared with Oppo for the purposes of training its AI software. Oppo already has a partnership in place with Google, where the firm uses the internet search giant’s Gemini foundation models to power its AI features. The privacy push mimics an effort from Apple to protect user data from its own AI system, Apple Intelligence. The iPhone maker last year debuted Private Cloud Compute, or PCC, a “cloud intelligence system designed specifically for private AI processing.” Oppo said that its Private Computing Cloud system will be integrated with several features this year, including recording and call summarization, search and image generation. Oppo is the sixth-largest smartphone maker in China, according to Counterpoint Research, holding a 14% market share in the three months ending 2024. “With AI being a lightning conductor for privacy concerns, particularly amongst ******** device makers, this is an interesting move by Oppo as it seeks to gain a foothold in the AI-enabled smartphone space,” Ben Wood, chief analyst at market research firm CCS Insight, told CNBC. Rival ******** smartphone maker Honor announced its own tie-up with Google over the weekend. Alongside its new AI privacy system, Oppo also announced additional new AI features, including call translation and voice transcription. It’s also embedding Google’s Gemini into its Notes, Calendar and Clock apps. Oppo said it’s working to bring Google’s next-generation Gemini 2.0 AI model to its phones soon. Gemini 2.0 is a so-called agentic AI system, which refers to a form of AI that can fulfill various actions autonomously on users’ behalf. The company said it is aiming to bring generation AI features to 100 million users by the end of 2025, doubling its 2024 target of 50 million. TSMC to announce $100-billion investment in U.S. chip plants TSMC to announce $100-billion investment in U.S. chip plants President Donald Trump is expected to announce a $100 billion investment from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing to bolster chip manufacturing over the next four years in the U.S, NBC has learned. The Wall Street Journal first reported the news. TSMC, which supplies semiconductors to the likes of Nvidia and Apple for artificial intelligence use, would help support the Trump administration’s efforts to make the U.S. an AI hub. Last month, Trump announced a multibillion AI infrastructure project with Oracle, OpenAI and Softbank. To be sure, Trump has repeatedly called out and accused Taiwan of stealing the U.S. chip manufacturing business and touted tariffs on semiconductor imports. The company’s finance chief Wendell Huang told CNBC in January that he was confident the new White House administration would continue funding the company’s U.S. ambitions. TSMC has already made strides to expand its footprint in the U.S, committing $12 billion in 2020 to build its first U.S. chip factory in Arizona. It has since raised its investment in the state to about $65 billion with a third factory and gained U.S. government support through a $6.6 billion subsidy from the U.S. Commerce Department. 10. Where to get Mystery Bones in Monster Hunter Wilds Where to get Mystery Bones in Monster Hunter Wilds Mystery Bones will become a vital crafting material during your first few hours playing Monster Hunter Wilds. You can use them to craft early-game armor and weapons that are a decent upgrade from the equipment you start with. Before you can create these equipment pieces, you’ll need to collect enough Mystery Bones first. Their whereabouts can be a mystery in itself if you don’t know where to look, so here are all the ways you can come across Mystery Bones in Monster Hunter Wilds. How to find Mystery Bones in Monster Hunter Wilds The easiest ways to come by Mystery Bones in Monster Hunter Wilds is by harvesting Bonepiles, collecting through quest rewards, and defeating small monsters. You’ll most often be able to kill two birds with one stone by venturing on a hunting quest, which earns you Mystery Bones as a reward, while also finding Bonepiles near your hunting grounds. Searching Bonepiles Capcom You can find Bonepiles all across the map, depending on which region you’re in. Check your map for the Bonepile icon to track it. You’ll most likely stumble across Bonepiles right after defeating certain monsters anyway, so you won’t have to look far. In many monster dens, you’ll find a few Bonepiles from long-forgotten creatures that served as that monster’s food. Interact with the Bonepile three times, and you can collect a few Mystery Bones. Here are the regions where you’ll be able to spot Bonepiles: Windward Plains Scarlet Forest Oilwell Basin Iceshard Cliffs Ruins of Wyveria Bonepiles look like the carcass of a small animal, so it’s hard to miss. I recommend checking your surroundings for any Bonepiles after defeating a monster and before the timer for the end of the hunt ends. You should almost always find Bonepiles in monster dens, which is often where you’ll end up defeating the monster you’re hunting once and for all. Quest Rewards Capcom Mystery Bones are often given to you as rewards after completing quests. Keep an eye out for this item in the rewards list when checking out your next Assignment or Optional Quest. So far, here are all the missions that offer Mystery Bones after completion: A Stage of Rose and Thorn Drive Off the Congalala Pinnacle of the Pack Balahara of the Sandsea Buggin’ in the Desert The Desert is Demanding Buggin’ in the Scarlet Forest A Sharp Sort Beware the Chatacabra Fire Starter Every Rose… Tussle in Pink Sand Sea Surges Forest Outlaw Buggin’ in the Cliffs Small Monster Bonepiles Although this method may take you some time, you can create some Bonepiles for yourself to get Mystery Bones by defeating small monsters. These are creatures that are much easier to tackle than your typical large monster, and after defeating one, you can wait for its corpse to decay. This will only happen if you don’t carve it, and it’ll take a total of six minutes for it to become a Bonepile. By that point, you will have a guaranteed supply of Mystery Bones, but you have the option to wait five minutes instead of six to see it in its decayed stage. At this point, there’s a chance of earning a Mystery Bone when you’re carving it. I would just wait for the full six minutes because Bonepiles from your own small monster kills yield twice as many Mystery Bones as a normal Bonepile. It’s annoying having to wait six minutes, but it’s worth the wait. Source link #Mystery #Bones #Monster #Hunter #Wilds Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  11. Europe Faces a Huge Bill to Defend Ukraine. Investors Are Thrilled. Europe Faces a Huge Bill to Defend Ukraine. Investors Are Thrilled. European defense stocks soared on Monday after the region’s leaders vowed to take on “the heavy lifting” of defending Ukraine from Russia. The rally comes as the three-year-old war appears set to move into a new stage after an Oval Office blowup on Friday put President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine on the outs with President Trump. Shares in Europe’s defense giants — including the British defense contractor BAE Systems, the ******* arms manufacturer Rheinmetall and the Italian aerospace and defense specialist Leonardo — hit record highs on Monday. The sector’s surge has helped pushed the Stoxx Europe 600, a benchmark once dominated by luxury stocks, to new heights as well. But behind the investor enthusiasm lies the question: Can Europe, facing high debt loads, chronically low growth and looming tariffs imposed by Trump, afford more military spending? Ending the Russia-Ukraine war carries a high cost. Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britain rolled out a four-point plan over the weekend at a gathering of European leaders and Mr. Zelensky. Mr. Starmer’s proposal includes an Anglo-French “coalition of the willing” to defend any eventual deal for Ukraine, which could mean “boots on the ground and planes in the air.” Britain also lent 2.26 billion pounds ($2.86 billion) to Ukraine to help bolster its military forces. Even before the summit, however, credit agencies had warned about Europe’s finances. For example, increasing the military spending of NATO members to 3 percent of their G.D.P. — which is still short of the 5 percent that Mr. Trump wants — could force European governments to make unpopular spending cuts that weaken social safety nets, Fitch Ratings has warned. Other political options include loosening fiscal rules to allow for greater defense spending, rerouting unspent post-pandemic recovery funds to military buildup and raising taxes. Borrowing would carry a hefty cost, too. Yields on European bonds ticked higher on Monday, a sign that investors were becoming worried about potential growth in public spending at a time when the region’s economy is slowing and its competitiveness is faltering. Analysts are divided on whether such commitments could muddle the European Central Bank’s plans to cut interest rates; the central bank meets later this week. The stakes are high. Failure to help Ukraine could eventually push European nations into accepting a deal that favors President Vladimir Putin of Russia. That could test the bloc’s cohesion, analysts say — but might be welcomed by those interested in seeing a divided Europe. “Trump, Putin (and possibly Elon Musk?) all seem to dislike the European Union,” Holger Schmieding, an economist at the ******* bank Berenberg, wrote in a research note on Monday. “They would prefer to deal one-by-one with a panoply of minnows and middling countries than with a union that represents the second biggest market in the world.” Source link #Europe #Faces #Huge #Bill #Defend #Ukraine #Investors #Thrilled Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  12. “Harsh” Feedback Leads To Fantasy Life i Overhaul After Mega Man Creator’s Departure “Harsh” Feedback Leads To Fantasy Life i Overhaul After Mega Man Creator’s Departure A new blog post from Level-5 has confirmed that Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time has seen a massive overhaul over the past several months, following “harsh” feedback and the departure of Keiji Inafune from the Japanese company. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time was announced over two years ago and is the successor to a popular RPG for the Nintendo 3DS, where players could take on different jobs within a fantasy world. This follow-up has been delayed several times. It originally had a 2023 release window, but now won’t be coming out until May 21 of this year. Level-5 CEO Akihirio Hiro has now publicly discussed the development difficulties Fantasy Life i has encountered. He revealed that producer Keiji Inafune left Level-5 last summer amid “harsh” feedback from internal playtests. Inafune is well-known for his storied history working on franchises like Mega Man at Capcom and spearheading the now-infamous Kickstarter game Mighty No. 9. Level-5 acquired Comcept, Inafune’s company, around a year after the critically bashed release of Mighty No. 9. Inafune has served on a producer of several Level-5 projects since then, including Fantasy Life i. Inafune’s departure and poor playtest feedback allowed Hiro to accept that “major revisions were necessary” to improve Fantasy Life i. Hiro explains that development on the project shifted to include Level-5 studios from all across Japan, not just the Osaka studio that was initially working on the game. The addition of features like open-world exploration, parkour, cross-play, and cross-save to Fantasy Life i followed, according to Hiro. The UI, story, and progression systems of the game have also been refined. Now, Level-5 believes that it “enhanced what was already great about the game, making the experience significantly more enjoyable” and has gotten more positive feedback from internal testing. As a result, Hiro confirmed that Fantasy Life i is now in “its final stage of development” and should make that May release date. Level-5 will slightly delay the release of Inazuma Eleven Victory Road due to the “ripple effects” of what has gone on with Fantasy Life i, but will reveal its release date during a livestream on April 11. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on May 21. 13. What is cyberstalking and how to prevent it? What is cyberstalking and how to prevent it? Cyberstalking is a crime in which someone harasses or stalks a victim using electronic or digital means, such as social media, email, instant messaging (IM), or messages posted to a discussion group or forum. Cyberstalkers take advantage of the anonymity afforded by the internet to stalk or harass their victims, sometimes without being caught, punished or even detected. The terms cyberstalking and cyberbullying are often used interchangeably. Cyberstalking, however, is actually a form of cyberbullying, which — along with cybersquatting and cyberterrorism — is among the growing number of computer- and internet-related crimes, collectively referred to as cybercrime. There are many types of cybercrime, such as identity theft, credit card fraud, software piracy and more. As digital communication expands, cyberstalking has evolved to include more sophisticated methods, such as geotracking, spoofing and hacking to target victims. Types of cyberstalking Although cyberstalking is a general term for online harassment, it can take many forms, including the following: Slander and defamation: Posting false or harmful statements about the victim. False accusations: Making baseless claims to damage the victim’s reputation. Trolling: Provoking or harassing the victim through inflammatory comments. Doxing: Revealing private information about the victim, such as their address or financial details, to intimidate or endanger them. Threats: Sending intimidating or harmful messages to the victim or their loved ones. Cyberstalkers often start small. In the beginning, they might send a few strange or somewhat unpleasant messages to their intended victim. Then, later, they might brush off these messages as funny, annoying or mildly weird and ignore them without taking any action. Over time, the messages might become systematic, sustained and repetitive and take on an increasingly intimidating or frightening tone. Emerging technologies in cyberstalking Advances in technology have given rise to new forms of cyberstalking: Geotracking tools. Perpetrators use GPS-enabled devices and apps to monitor victims’ real-time locations. Social engineering. Cyberstalkers manipulate victims into revealing sensitive information through phishing emails or fake accounts. Deepfake technology. Manipulating videos or images to create fake content aimed at defaming or blackmailing victims. IoT exploitation. Smart home devices, such as cameras or voice assistants, are hacked to monitor victims’ activities. These technologies increase the complexity of cyberstalking cases and demand advanced cybersecurity measures for protection. Direct and indirect cyberstalking Cyberstalking can be direct or indirect. Direct cyberstalking Perpetrators might directly email their victims or flood their inboxes with emails. Or they might harass them through IM, voicemail, texting or other forms of electronic communication. They might use technologies to surveil or follow their victims or continuously view their pages — often without their knowledge. Indirect cyberstalking In indirect attacks, perpetrators might infect devices with ransomware to lock victims’ files and demand payment or install keystroke loggers to steal sensitive data. They might also post false or malicious information online to harm victims’ reputations or impersonate victims by creating fake profiles on social media or forums. Indirect methods often go unnoticed initially, making them particularly insidious. Cyberstalking: Victims and criminals Often, cyberstalkers pursue their victims over a sustained *******. An overwhelming majority of cyberstalkers are men, while victims are usually women. However, cyberstalking cases where women were the perpetrators are not unheard of. For instance, following the 2006 Megan Meier suicide case in Missouri, a female cyberstalker was indicted and convicted in 2008 of violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Occasionally, men have been victims in some cyberstalking cases. Victims of cyberstalking could be individuals — mature adults, young adults and children are all susceptible — or groups, organizations or even governments. According to the FBI, children and adults are particularly vulnerable to one particular type of cyberstalking: sextortion. This is when stalkers threaten a victim with the release of private or sensitive information unless the latter can meet the former’s demands for ******* favors, nude photos, etc. Consequences of cyberstalking As part of a cyberstalking campaign, victims might endure a range of harassment, from nuisance-level annoyances to severe psychological and physical threats. Psychological effects: Victims might experience anxiety, depression, paranoia or even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Physical health issues: Stress from cyberstalking can lead to headaches, insomnia, ulcers or other stress-related ailments. Career and reputation damage: False accusations or public doxing can harm victims’ professional and social lives. Financial losses: Ransomware attacks or identity theft can lead to significant financial burdens. In extreme cases, victims might feel hopeless, leading to thoughts of self-harm or suicide. Is cyberstalking a crime? Cyberstalking is a crime is many countries, including the United States. However, legislation varies widely: United States: Federal law under the Violence Against Women Act and individual state laws address cyberstalking. Penalties include fines and imprisonment. United Kingdom: Covered under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and the Malicious Communications Act 1988. European Union: The practice of doxing violates Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Other Countries: Nations like Australia, Canada, India and Singapore have established anti-cyberstalking laws to protect citizens. Despite existing laws, enforcement can be challenging due to the anonymity of perpetrators and jurisdictional issues in cross-border cases. How to guard against cyberstalking Individuals can guard against cyberstalking without losing their online independence. One strategy is to stay as anonymous as possible. Of course, complete anonymity is almost impossible on the internet nowadays, so the next best thing is to keep a low profile, especially on social media. Rather than having an identifiable and traceable online presence, use nicknames and/or gender-neutral names when possible. Avoid posting personal details, such as your email address, home address, phone number or workplace details, online, where anyone can easily access them and use them to cyberstalk. Also, guard photographs, and make sure all private information, like vacation plans, photos and posts, are visible only to trusted individuals. Use a primary email account only for communicating with known/trusted people and set up an anonymous email account for all other communications. Install email spam filters to minimize spam and the possibility of email-based phishing or cyberstalking attacks. Phishing is a type of type of cybercrime — here are the differences between phishing, spear phishing and whaling. Other ways to guard against cyberstalking include the following: Update all software to prevent information leaks. Mask your Internet Protocol address with a virtual private network, i.e., VPN. Strengthen privacy settings on social media. Strengthen all devices with strong passwords or, better, use multifactor authentication. Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks. Send private information via private messages, not by posting on public forums. Safeguard mobile devices by using password protection and never leave devices unattended. Disable geolocation settings on devices; Install antivirus software on devices to detect malicious software. Always log out of all accounts at the end of a session. Beware of installing apps that ask to access your personal information. Multifactor authentication requires using multiple factors to authenticate identity. These could include a password, a smartphone or biometrics, like fingerprints, face ID, etc. What to do if cyberstalked Should an individual become the victim of a cyberstalker, it’s important to take immediate action. The most effective course of action is to report the offender to the internet service provider (ISP). Should that option be ineffective, a cyberstalker’s victim should change their ISP and all online names. Block the person, even if these messages are not yet threatening. Also, report them to the platform, especially if they’re harassing, stalking or threatening. Most social media platforms make it easy to report abusive behavior. These include Facebook, X (formrly known as Twitter) and LinkedIn. If the stalking has become threatening or frightening, save evidence and contact law enforcement. Also, minimize the amount of information that’s available online and/or increase the amount of fake decoy information about you to mislead cyberstalkers. Learn about the common types of cyberattacks and how to prevent them. Source link #cyberstalking #prevent Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  14. Austrian capital’s train station reopens after ‘threat’ Austrian capital’s train station reopens after ‘threat’ Police have given the all clear at Vienna’s main train station after evacuating it over an unspecified threat. While the police did not describe the threat, tabloid newspaper Heute said it was a bomb threat. Austria suffered a series of empty bomb threats last year that prompted the clearing of larger stations, causing delays to train traffic. “A large police operation is underway at Vienna’s main station. After an incoming threat, the station is being evacuated,” Vienna police initially said on X, urging the public to avoid any unnecessary trips to the station, a major rail hub. The police later provided an update saying the operation was over. The station is also a hub for underground, tram and bus transport. “Good news! Our trains are running again at Vienna main station. Please expect continued delays and train cancellations,” OBB said on X. Source link #Austrian #capitals #train #station #reopens #threat Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  15. Sonic Unleashed Recompiled is the port you never knew you wanted Sonic Unleashed Recompiled is the port you never knew you wanted Unleashed Recompiled – Release Trailer Sonic Unleashed might not be the most well-remembered Sonic title, but it does hold a special place in the hearts of many fans — and now, a a fan-made PC port has brought it back for the modern era with a slew of appealing features. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 emulation has been an option for years, but isn’t always the most reliable. Crashes and weird glitches are common. Unleashed Recompiled‘s release on Github changes all that, providing HD upscaling, support for ultrawide monitors, significantly improved performance, and much more. Please enable Javascript to view this content Of course, there’s a catch: you need to provide the files yourself. It doesn’t include any of the in-game assets, so you’ll have to have a (legally obtained) copy of the game to make full use of it. And if you happen to recall Sonic Unleashed looking a little washed-out on Xbox 360, you’ll be happy to know that Unleashed Recompiled aims for the original vibrant colors of the PlayStation 3 version. You don’t need a top-of-the-line system to run this, either. The minimum requirements suggest an Nvidia GeForce GT 630, AMD Radeon HD 7750, or Intel HD Graphics 510 — all older, inexpensive cards. Basically, if you’ve purchased a computer within the last five years, it should handle this with ease. That said, Unleashed Recompiled does need a minimum of 8GB of RAM to operate properly, and you’ll also need at least 6GB of free space for the game. Unleashed Recompiled is the level of quality expected from AAA studio remasters, but it’s all fan-made and driven by a love for the game. If you’ve been looking for a chance to go back and revisit older Sonic titles, this is a great place to start. 16. France’s prime minister tears into Trump’s attack on Zelenskyy as a staggering show of ‘brutality’ France’s prime minister tears into Trump’s attack on Zelenskyy as a staggering show of ‘brutality’ PARIS (AP) — France’s prime minister on Monday tore into U.S. President Donald Trump’s Oval Office thrashing of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling it a staggering show of “brutality” that aimed to humiliate Ukraine’s leader and bend to the will of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The extraordinarily frank criticism from Prime Minister François Bayrou, speaking in a parliamentary debate on Ukraine, diverged from the more nuanced tone that French President Emmanuel Macron has adopted in the wake of the clash at the White House on Friday and dropped the diplomatic niceties that customarily mark French-U.S. relations. “On Friday night, in the Oval Office of the White House, a staggering scene unfurled before the lenses of the entire world, marked by brutality, a desire to humiliate, with the goal of making Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fold through threats, so that he gives in to the demands of his aggressors,” Bayrou said. Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories. “All this was summed up in one phrase before the planet’s cameras: ‘Either you find a deal with Putin or we will abandon you,’” Bayrou said, apparently referring to Trump’s comments in the Oval Office. Trump’s actual words to Zelenskyy were “you’re either going to make a deal or we’re out.” Bayrou continued during the debate in France’s parliament: “For the honor of democratic responsibility, for the honor of Ukraine and, I dare say, for the honor of Europe, President Zelenskyy did not fold and I think we can show him our appreciation,” Bayrou continued. Lawmakers got to their feet in the National Assembly chamber to applaud. In opening the parliamentary debate, Bayrou said that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and its diplomatic fallout have left Europe in grave peril. He spoke of “an historic situation that in our eyes is the most serious, the most destabilized, the most dangerous of all those that our country and our continent have experienced since the end of World War II.” Source link #Frances #prime #minister #tears #Trumps #attack #Zelenskyy #staggering #show #brutality Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

Visions Of Mana Co-Director Opens Studio, Bemoans Management Shirking Responsibility Visions Of Mana Co-Director Opens Studio, Bemoans Management Shirking Responsibility Kenji ******, the co-director on Visions of Mana, has started a new studio called Studio Sasanqua after Ouka Studio was shut down by NetEase last year. He’s also calling out how management’s poor decisions lead to game creators being let go. In an interview with Automaton, ****** said he wanted to start his own studio because he saw management at his previous companies not taking responsibilities for failed projects. While management makes the majority of high-level decisions like approving game pitches and finding investment opportunities, ****** noted that it’s the developers themselves that get cut when management makes a mistake. With Studio Sasanqua, ****** wanted to make sure that both developers and management are on the same page, as both departments are usually siloed from each other. He’s also prioritizing a sense of security for developers and confirms that he’s ready to accept full responsibility if a game fails due to management mistakes. While Studio Sasanqua hasn’t revealed its first game, ****** explained that the studio will focus on smaller projects in Unreal Engine, with the longer-term goal of creating larger-scale games for PC and consoles. Ouka Studios was one of the early victims of NetEase’s downsizing, as it was shut down not long after the release of its debut game in Visions of Mana. Last month, NetEase suddenly laid off its US-based Marvel Rivals staff despite the game’s massive success. NetEase is also reportedly trying to sell off its non-******** studios as it attempts to drastically pull investment from the gaming space. However, NetEase claims that it’s still committed to its overseas studios. 18. Three stocks that could re-energize the AI trade this week Three stocks that could re-energize the AI trade this week The artificial intelligence trade could get a boost this week with three semiconductor companies set to report earnings after a rough ******* for the group, according to Bank of America. “We expect beat/raise results from AVGO, MRVL and CRDO to re-energize interest in [artificial intelligence] semis, since capex by U.S. cloud customers and sovereign AI investments remains the only dependable bright demand spot in the global economy,” analyst Vivek Arya wrote in a note to clients this week. Arya’s remarks come as each of those three chip stocks and others closed out last week’s run in negative territory. Bloomberg News reported last week, citing people familiar with the matter, that the Trump administration is looking to toughen restrictions on China’s chip industry. The PHLX Semiconductor Sector Index dropped 7.2% in the *******, while the S & P 500 declined around 1%. That move lower put the PHLX down more than 5% year to date. .SOX YTD mountain .SOX, year-to-date AI chip darling Nvidia also closed last week more than 7% lower after it posted a decline in its gross margin for the fourth quarter, and its revenue beat for the quarter was its smallest in two years . That stock has underperformed the broader market this year after developments from ******** startup DeepSeek back in January raised investor anxiety around AI competition and spending. But a turnaround for the group could be in store over the coming days. U.S. chip giant Broadcom , which fell nearly 9% last week and has slid more than 16% year to date, could help to reinvigorate enthusiasm among investors with its first-quarter fiscal 2025 results out Thursday after the bell. “We expect management to restress the $60-$90bn long-term [service addressable market] in custom chips (XPU) and networking, with growing engagement with new partners (we think OpenAI, Apple),” Arya wrote. “Consensus models only ~$32bn by CY27 or < 50% SAM capture.” For Marvell Technology , which is set to report after the bell on Wednesday, Arya believes telecommunications recovery, “solid” AI chip demand from Amazon and more growth in AI optics could lead to consensus upside for silicon and optics sales. “Separately we expect MRVL to grow with Amazon even in CY26 on continued participation in custom chip program (successor to Trn-2 called Ultra/2.5, or some design work in Trn-3),” the analyst also wrote. Shares shed more than 11% last week and have decreased more than 19% in 2025. In addition to Marvell, Arya said chipmaker Credo Technology could be a beneficiary of demand from Amazon for active electrical cables used for AI clusters. Credo, whose shares plunged more than 17% last week and have fallen more than 21% year to date, kicks off the trio of earnings results on Tuesday after market close. 19. Battlefield May Be the Reason Behind Marvel Rivals’ Most Annoying DPS Hero Battlefield May Be the Reason Behind Marvel Rivals’ Most Annoying DPS Hero When Marvel Rivals burst onto the scene, it didn’t just bring superheroes—it brought a whole new level of “pow” to the superhero shooter genre. And while NetEase’s latest hit has been turning heads, there’s one particular hero that’s been driving players up the wall. When your sniper rifle sounds scarier than your ultimate ability. | Image Credit: NetEase Games ****** Widow might not top the pick charts in competitive play, but anyone who’s faced a skilled sniper knows she can be more irritating than a ****** Panther in your team’s backline. The recent Season 1.5 update just cranked her annoyance factor up to 11, nearly doubling her magazine size and making her ultimate ability more threatening than before. But here’s the kicker—this hyper-realistic, keyboard-smashing frustration might have its roots in a very different “battlefield.” Literally. From Battlefield trenches to Marvel Rivals mayhem When it comes to making virtual guns feel like they could blow a hole in reality, few franchises do it better than Battlefield. Coincidentally, that’s where Thaddeus Sasser, the now ex-game director of Marvel Rivals, cut his teeth. In a post-launch interview with VideoGamer, Sasser dropped this little gem about the game’s design philosophy: I want it to sound powerful when I fire the sniper rifle, I want to hear the SPAPOAR, I want to see the effect of the world, I wanna see the big puff of smoke where the target gets hit. That’s gonna make it feel like a powerful gun. Sound familiar, Battlefield veterans? That’s the kind of audio-visual punch that made sniping in DICE’s shooter feel like you were wielding Thor’s lightning itself. This philosophy extends across all of Marvel Rivals’ gun-wielding heroes—from Star-Lord’s dual Element Guns to Winter Soldier’s explosive Roterstern blaster. But Sasser didn’t stop at just making the guns feel good. He wanted every hero to feel like they could actually save the world: As a superhero, one of my core fantasies is I wanna wreck the world… you want to feel powerful, you want to feel like you can change the world. Destruction, I think, really ties into that in a nice way. It’s this commitment to making every character feel truly super that’s turned heroes like Punisher, with his three distinct weapons, and Rocket Raccoon with his devastating machine gun, into forces to be reckoned with. But it’s ****** Widow who perfectly embodies this philosophy—a character who can’t one-shot you like some other games’ snipers, but makes every hit feel like a personal insult. When realism meets superpowers, wallets get nervous Forty million players, six developers short of a team. | Image Credit: NetEase Games Here’s where things get messy, though. Just weeks after Marvel Rivals hit 40 million players, NetEase decided to play a game of corporate musical chairs. The result? Sasser and his Seattle-based team were shown the door despite the game’s overwhelming success—a move that left industry veterans and players alike completely baffled. The real kicker? This shakeup happened right as ****** Widow was getting her Season 1.5 buff, turning her from a situational pick into a force to be reckoned with in the right hands. Now, every time you hear that satisfying “SPAPOAR” of her rifle, you can’t help but wonder—is this Sasser’s parting gift to the Marvel Rivals community? A reminder of what happens when you combine Battlefield-level gun feel with superhero powers? One thing’s for sure—whether you love her or hate her, ****** Widow’s (along with all the other gun-wielding heroes’) current state in Marvel Rivals is a testament to Sasser’s vision. A vision that, ironically, might have been too powerful for its own good. What do you think? Is ****** Widow truly the most annoying DPS, or does another gun-wielding hero drive you up the wall? AMD’s Ryzen 7 9700X on ***** for $289 — get a killer CPU for 20% off plus Monster Hunter Wilds for free AMD’s Ryzen 7 9700X on ***** for $289 — get a killer CPU for 20% off plus Monster Hunter Wilds for free For the PC enthusiast hungry to build a new PC, the modern DIY PC landscape is brutal thanks to low supply and ever-climbing prices. Thankfully for the prospective high-end builder, one of AMD’s best CPUs has dropped to a low, low price, allowing more room in your budget to combo with one of Nvidia and AMD’s newest GPU releases. The 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 9700X is currently available for $289 at Amazon, dropping well below its recent price trend of $315-330 and MSRP of $360. The card also comes along with a free copy of Monster Hunter Wilds, the most popular new video game this month. No indication is made as to when this ***** will end, but for now, it stands as one of the best ways to get near the peak performance that Zen 5 has to offer. The Ryzen 7 9700X is perhaps the best 8-core CPU of the current generation. The chip edges ahead of Intel’s i7-14700K in most tests, and at half of the power draw. AMD’s 9700X is an 8-core, 16-thread CPU, which is clocked at 3.8 GHz. Of course, the chip will boost up to 5.5 GHz, and has headroom for plenty of overclocking. It also offers 32MB of L3 cache, and supports up to 192GB of RAM. The chip sits at a low 65W TDP, but the BIOS includes an optional 105W mode for those looking to push performance even higher. Our initial review of the Ryzen 7 9700X gave it a 3.5 out of 5 star rating, but in the months since its release, the 9700X has grown immensely more attractive. After firmware updates, better OS optimization, and a gradual price decline, the 9700X now stands as our second pick for the best overall CPU for gaming, and is one of the top dogs in our full CPU hierarchy. It’s only beaten by AMD’s X3D chips with 3D V-Cache and a few of the current gen’s $400+ offerings. Monster Hunter Wild, also comes bundled with the CPU for free as part of AMD’s current hardware bundle. Wilds has sold $150 million in units since releasing on February 28th, with $69 million of that coming on day one. Capcom’s biggest PC launch ever has already hit 1,300,000 concurrent players and offers sprawling, half-hour-long boss fights; though with its bad performance on all hardware, you will likely need the 9700X to reach acceptable framerates. The 9700X, as its name would suggest, is part of AMD’s Ryzen 9000-series, the first processors to launch on AMD’s Zen 5 platform back in July. The Granite Ridge family slots into the AM5 socket, which AMD promises to support until 2027 and beyond, and is compatible with DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen5. Zen 5 is as future-proofed as a CPU architecture can be, especially when paired with an A-series motherboard (though we might suggest sticking with B850 for the 9700X). For more savings on the rest of your PC build, keep your eyes on our list of the best GPU deals this month, as stock continues to phase in and out and AMD’s RX 9000-series GPUs release very soon. 23. How Spitalfields shows the changing face of London How Spitalfields shows the changing face of London Getty Images This photograph, taken in 1978, depicts Taj Stores – a business still serving customers in Brick Lane today Light shines brightly into the bare first-floor room of 113 Redchurch Street in Spitalfields, east London. “You’d have had silk weavers working here, and weavers on the next floor, and weavers on the next floor above,” explains architect Chris Dyson, who worked on the restoration of the Grade II-listed building and its counterpart next door. “They often lived and worked in these spaces but it would be a workroom, really, by day and they would weave as long as the light would allow them to do so.” Before their restoration, 113 and 115 Redchurch Street were in a state of ruin, with one of the properties on Historic England’s at-risk register The two properties, both built in 1735, hark back to a time when the area was very different. The late 1600s and 1700s saw about 200,000 Huguenots flee France in the face of the persecution of Protestants. Some 50,000 of them arrived in England, many settling in Spitalfields, bringing with them skills like silk-weaving. The influx was such that a huge part of London’s East End became known as “weaver town” as it transformed into a centre for the trade, led by migrants from across the English Channel. “The first couple of generations, people spoke French and it became known as quite a French area,” says Julia Kuznecow, a guide of more than 20 years, who organises walks around Spitalfields. Getty Images Journeyman weavers would both live and work in single rooms in houses in Spitalfields Weavers’ homes were designed to have twisting staircases in one corner to leave space for looms in the middle of the room Nevertheless, within a few generations that French influence began to diminish. “They integrated so quickly… and many of them changed their names because of the constant wars with France and the constant troubles,” Ms Kuznecow says. A large building on the corner of Brick Lane and Fournier Street reflects this. Built in 1743, it started life as a French Protestant church serving the Huguenot population, but was shut in 1809 due to a drastic decline in attendance. “That lifespan is about average [for Huguenot churches]. They probably limped on towards the end to try desperately to keep it open and realising that they couldn’t because there really wasn’t anybody to use it any more,” explains Ms Kuznecow. Brick Lane Mosque began as a Huguenot church and has also served as a synagogue, reflecting changes in Spitalfields’ population By the end of the 19th Century, that same building reflected how the population of Spitalfields had changed again, becoming a synagogue to serve the growing Jewish population. While Jewish people had already been settling in the area, pogroms across Russia and neighbouring countries following the assassination of Tsar Alexander II in 1881 saw more people arrive in an already-crowded part of town. Many of those found employment in the textile industry and of those who arrived in London, some 60% ended up working in the fashion industry. Hints of the area’s Jewish past can still be found near the homes once used by weavers. The signage for a former Jewish store which sold twine, string and paper bags can still be seen on Brick Lane Along Princelet Street, Ms Kuznecow points to a house which still has a detail on the door that would have been common in other properties locally. “Every house in a Jewish town has a mezuzah on the door, which is like a little tube with a little Torah scroll inside and when you come through, you touch it.” Further down the road is a house with a peeling pink front, which was the childhood home of songwriter and Oliver! composer Lionel Bart, whose father was a tailor. “His [Lionel’s] name was Beglieter, and he took the name Bart from Bart’s hospital. It would have obviously been a very Jewish area when he was growing up,” says Ms Kuznecow. Julia Kuznecow takes people on walking tours of Spitalfields Like the Huguenots before them, over time Jewish people dispersed from the area, some of them to the richer suburbs of north London. The synagogue they used to attend closed down in the 1970s and before long became the Brick Lane Mosque, also known as Brick Lane Jamme Masjid, reflecting the arrival of Bangladeshi immigrants. As was the case with the Jewish incomers, Bengalis had already been settling in the area, but political upheaval at home from the middle of the 20th Century saw a significant increase in the number of people arriving. “They carried on the textile stuff the Jewish people were in a lot,” says Ms Kuznecow, “and of course they did a lot of restaurants and cooking”. Brick Lane now boasts numerous Bengali grocers and textile stores – as well as the curry houses the street is today best known for. In the 2021 census, 20.7% of London’s overall population of 8.8 million people described themselves as Asian, Asian British or Asian Welsh – while in the Spitalfields and Banglatown ward 51.8% were recorded as Asian, Asian British and Asian Welsh. Some Bangladeshi migrants continued to work in the textile industry Ms Kuznecow points out that this part of London is continuing to experience change. “Whereas 10 or 20 years ago, every business was Bangladeshi, now they’re not, they’re sort of thinning out. So things change and people move on very quickly,” she says. “I suspect if you come here in 100 years’ time it will be something completely different again.” This sentiment is echoed by Panikos Panayi, professor of European history at De Montfort University. He says that Spitalfields, like other parts of London, has seen constant demographic change over the centuries. Prof Panayi, author of Migrant City: A New History of London, explains that before the middle of the 20th Century the most common places from which people came to London were within the British Isles, and from central and Eastern Europe. “After the Second World War is when it becomes increasingly diverse,” he explains, with the likes of the Windrush generation also arriving – while the expansion of the EU in 2004 had its own impact on London’s demographics. “It’s in 21st Century where we can probably use the phrase ‘superdiverse’,” he says. Prof Panayi believes London’s place on the world stage means it will continue to be a “migrant city”. “London is still a phenomenally important city in the global economy so it will attract migration… it’ll just come from different parts of the world from what it did before we left the EU in 2021.” While some of Spitalfields’ weaver cottages have been restored, others have fallen into a state of ruin Back in Redchurch Street, two buildings that were once homes and workplaces for French and Jewish immigrants – and had until recently been on the verge of disintegration – are set to take a new place in Spitalfields’ textiles tradition. Having been purchased by the Truman Brewery estate, run by the Zeloof family who made their wealth through the clothing industry, they have undergone a £2m restoration project and are set to become the first *** base for *********-Egyptian sustainable fashion firm KOTN. Out on the street, Chris Dyson points to the growing number of high-end clothing shops springing up around the area. For all that things have changed over time, Spitalfields’ centuries-old association with textiles endures, he says. “They’re still keeping the area’s connection with fashion.” More on London’s communities Source link #Spitalfields #shows #changing #face #London Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  24. What is the new eight second goalkeeper rule in football? What is the new eight second goalkeeper rule in football? Shamoon Hafez: It feels like a rule that may be strictly enforced when first implemented, before it gets forgotten about. Just think back to how much injury time was being played when officials decided to clamp down on time-wasting and how much is added on now. It also feels like there could be a pantomime scenario during matches, with players and the crowd counting the seconds when the keeper has ball in hand. Burnley striker Ashley Barnes was signalling seconds on his fingers in Saturday’s FA Cup game against Preston as Freddie Woodman held on to the ball. How many other players will we see attempting to pressure the referee into enforcing the new rule? Alex Howell: It will be interesting to see what impact the eight second rule has on the way teams think about their build-up play. It could also then have a knock-on effect on the way teams press. The trend with a lot of teams is to press high to keep the opposition under pressure, but maybe now knowing the ball has to be released in eight seconds could push sides even further forward and impact the speed of games everywhere. Conor McNamara: I have quite a bit of sympathy for the referees who are going to have to implement this. In essence, the law was to be a deterrent to stop excessive holding on to the ball for 20 seconds and more. But in this highly-analytical world we now live in, any new ‘measurable initiatives’ will be given the full ‘offside by a toe-nail’ treatment. The conspiracy theorists will love it all. Also, to implement this to the letter of the law, the poor referees will have to start shouting five-second countdowns each and every time a goalkeeper has had the ball in their hands for three seconds. Semi-automated offsides may divert some of the personal insults away from the officials, but implementing this new law will see the individual referees catch plenty of slack again. Alistair Bruce-Ball: One thing’s for certain – goalkeepers would be wise not to hang on to the ball against Arsenal next season given their prowess from corners. Anything that prevents players from time-wasting is obviously to be applauded but I can already foresee arguments about the consistency in the application of this law. I also wonder if it’s something the referees will be very hot on in the first couple of weeks before it gets forgotten, not deliberately but subconsciously, and the time allowed starts slipping. Nick Mashiter: Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels will be on red alert with the new eight second rule. The goalkeeper has been booked twice for time-wasting this season, while Jose Sa at Wolves has also been known to slow the game down to his side’s advantage. The Premier League is already played at a frantic pace and this will only help maintain that speed, but the focus could be better served improving the video assistant referee and avoiding prolonged delays – including the eight-minute wait to rule out Milos Kerkez’s goal for Bournemouth against Wolves on Saturday – which only frustrate fans and slow the game down further. John Murray: An interesting move but how often we will see it implemented, I wonder? I suspect it is simply another tool to try and increase the amount of playing time, which the authorities have been working on for some while. And the likelihood is it will be used only very much as a last resort and more as a warning to make it clear to goalkeepers that they need to get on with it. Elden Ring Nightreign and Bloodborne bosses: A combo worth dying for, in-game Bloodborne enemies in Elden Ring Nightreign would be a vibe | FromSoft From a broader perspective, enemies like The Nameless King and The Centipede ****** are making their way back into the new version of The Lands Between anyway. This has made fans wonder why not sprinkle in a mix of some Bloodborne bosses as well. Talking about how taking bosses from the previous successful IPs is going to help the case of the upcoming game, Junya Ishizaki, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign, revealed the following in an interview via Gamespot. The primary reason for these existing bosses in Nightreign is from a gameplay perspective. Of course, with this new structure and with this new style of game, we needed a lot of different bosses. We needed a lot to add to this mix, so we wanted to leverage what we deemed appropriate from our previous titles. Ishizaki ultimately discloses how adding already existing bosses to the newly rebuilt world of Nightreign helped get them the variety they needed to make the experience more fun for players. With the perfect mix of nostalgia and horror, the co-op title is going to trigger PTSD for long-time Souls fans and will instill fear in the new wave of players. Why Bloodborne enemies in Elden Ring Nightreign seem like a distant dream Elden Ring Nightreign brings back different old bosses | FromSoftware Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for public release on May 30th. Moreover, the studio has been conducting closed network tests to make sure the game is in top-notch condition, polished and refined by the feedback of the fans themselves before it is released to the masses. Seeing enemies from Bloodborne, like the Orphan of Kos, appear in the coming title would definitely be a cool experience. After all, who doesn’t want to fight their worst nightmares once again? Unfortunately, with IP restrictions from Sony being one of the biggest reasons, it remains highly unlikely that any boss from the PlayStation exclusive will be making their way over anytime soon. So far, the long list of enemies making an appearance once again in Nightreign includes the already discussed The Nameless King and a few faces (and fingers) we all would recognize from the original Elden Ring.
