The investment will build “cutting-edge chip-making facilities in the U.S., The Wall Street Journal reported earlier Monday.
Trump last month announced a multibillion AI infrastructure project with Oracle, OpenAI and Softbank.

CoD Cheat Developer Is Shutting Down, And Not Everyone Believes Them
Despite Activision’s efforts to curb cheating among some Call of Duty players, it remains an issue even in ****** Ops. 6. But now, there’s potentially cause for celebration among CoD fans as Phantom Overlay, one of the most prominent cheat developers, has announced that it is shutting down.
Via Game Rant, Phantom Overlay’s Telegram channel states that it plans to “immediately” close its operations, with a caveat that it will remain online for at least another month to fulfill the 30-day keys that it has already sold players. Phantom Overlay went on to promise that anyone who bought lifetime keys would get a partial refund.
“This is not an exit scam and no external entity could ever compel me to exit scam my customers,” wrote the creator of Phantom Overlay. “I’ll keep everything updated, safe, and online for 32 days longer.”
There was no information in the post about why Phantom Overlay is closing down, and some players online are naturally skeptical. Phantom Overlay successfully monetized CoD cheats, and the creator could theoretically try again with a different company or a new alias. As noted by one user on X, Phantom Overlay’s cheats were reputed to be undetectable, while rival cheat-makers have struggled with that.
Last year, 27,000 CoD cheaters were banned in a single weekend. Activision’s Call of Duty anti-cheat program, Ricochet, shared its ambitious anti-cheat CoD plans, but Activision has previously apologized for not being able to kick cheaters out of ****** Ops. 6 ranked play as quickly as promised. Activision has also sued cheat developers in the past, and successfully won a $3 million judgment against them. Regardless, the battle between Activision and the cheaters will likely continue well into the future regardless of whether Phantom Overlay makes a comeback under a new name. In the meantime, Activision has launched Call of Duty: Recon Squad to get more feedback from players.

Lenovo’s solar-powered Yoga concept laptop is such a good idea, I’m frankly shocked nobody’s done it already
What if your laptop could get a full hour’s worth of charge simply by leaving it in sunlight for 20 minutes? That’s the promise of Lenovo’s latest concept laptop, a Yoga model featuring a photovoltaic solar panel on the rear of the screen, converting light into charge for the laptop’s battery.
I’ve seen a lot of great concept devices from Lenovo and other laptop makers at events like MWC 2025, and I’m usually pretty excited about them. So let me be absolutely, unequivocally clear about this one:

I’m serious. To be honest, I can’t believe it took this long for a tech company to strap a solar panel to the back of an ultrabook. We need more of this. It feels like such a straightforward idea; naturally, the Yoga Solar PC can be charged conventionally via a cable, but just being able to close the lid and let it soak in the solar rays is brilliant – and basically ensures that you’ll never be stranded without any charge again (unless it’s the middle of the night, I suppose).
The power of the sun, in the palm of my hand
I can’t be the only one who’s gone on a trip or even just off to work, only to find that I’ve forgotten my laptop charger. Thus begins that stressful game of watching the battery life tick down, turning on efficiency mode, lowering the brightness, and praying.
But with Lenovo’s Solar Yoga? I could just leave it on a windowsill for an hour while I have lunch, and come back to a freshly-charged battery.
It’s also just a general triumph of eco-friendly engineering. The solar panel on the rear of the display (which, incidentally, doesn’t appear to make the laptop noticeably thicker than Lenovo’s other Yoga ultrabooks) offers an energy conversion rate of more than 24%, which is among the very best you’ll see in any type of photovoltaic solar cells.
Lenovo also designed a ‘Dynamic Solar Tracking system’, which continually monitors the influx of electricity and adjusts the laptop’s battery consumption to prioritize the solar energy to better preserve your battery life.

Solar-powered devices aren’t a new thing, of course – fellow laptop manufacturer Acer sells a foldable 200W solar panel that you can hook up to a power bank, ideal for charging your devices when you’re out in nature (or in a Mad Max-style apocalypse). But the Yoga Solar PC is the first ultrabook in the world with a fully-integrated solar power solution – and even though it’s just a concept right now, it’s one that I seriously hope makes it beyond the prototyping phase.
Having handled the device in person at MWC, it certainly looks and feels like it could be retail-ready. I can practically picture myself taking this bad boy camping, or even just down to the cafe.
The downsides?
Alright, okay, as much as I love this, I will admit that there are some potential stumbling blocks to this sort of tech being widely implemented in our laptops. For starters, solar panels aren’t exactly the most durable things in the world – and I have to imagine that replacing an integrated panel like this would be a costly and difficult affair. Having a laptop with glass on the outside does feel a little bit like a recipe for disaster. Drop it once, and it might be game over.
Heat buildup also feels like a natural problem here. After all, you generally don’t want your laptop to be too hot. But surprisingly, Lenovo had the Yoga Solar PC sitting under a bright lamp on their stand at the expo (presumably for hours at a time), and while the back panel itself was a bit warm to the touch, the rest of the laptop didn’t feel hot at all. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that a metal exterior lid would probably cook your laptop more if you left it out in the sun.

Lastly, I suspect that if it were to make it to general production, the Yoga Solar PC would be very expensive. I’ve looked into getting solar panels installed on my house – and sure, this is just one solar panel, and it’s a lot smaller, but it’s also part of the laptop chassis rather than a standalone item – oh, and these Yoga laptops aren’t exactly bargain-basement hardware to begin with.
Still, as someone who enjoys a good foray into the great outdoors, I think this proof-of-concept is a fantastic idea and I’d gladly throw money at Lenovo to own one. A laptop that’s more eco-friendly and can save my bacon if I forget my charger? Sign me up.

Washington — Two top Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee have launched an investigation into the Justice Department for seeking to dismiss charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
In a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi on Sunday, Reps. Jamie Raskin of Maryland and Jasmine Crockett of Texas accused the Justice Department of attempting to cover up an alleged quid pro quo to drop the corruption charges against Adams if he assisted the Trump administration in carrying out its immigration policies.
“Last month, troubling reports emerged about the Trump Administration’s demand that federal prosecutors move to dismiss the serious public corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams as part of a blatant and ******** quid pro quo to secure the Mayor’s loyal assistance in executing the Trump Administration’s mass arrest and deportation policies,” the letter said.
“Not only did the Department of Justice (DOJ) attempt to pressure career prosecutors into carrying out this ******** quid pro quo, it appears that Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove was personally engaged in a cover-up by destroying evidence and retaliating against career prosecutors who refused to follow his ******** and unethical orders,” it continued. “We write to demand that you immediately put an end to the cover-up and retaliation and provide documents and information about these disturbing accounts to Congress.”
Adams, a Democrat, was indicted on five counts in September, including bribery, conspiracy and campaign finance violations. He was accused of accepting ******** campaign donations, flight upgrades and other travel benefits from a Turkish official and other foreign nationals in exchange for political favors. He pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
In February, Bove instructed federal prosecutors in New York to drop the corruption case, citing Adams’ “restricted” ability to help the Trump administration enforce its immigration policies.
The move to drop the charges prompted the resignation of Manhattan’s top career federal prosecutor, Danielle Sassoon, who said the request raised “serious concerns that render the contemplated dismissal inconsistent with my ability and duty to prosecute federal crimes without fear or favor and to advance good-faith arguments before the courts.”
“It is a breathtaking and dangerous precedent to reward Adams’s opportunistic and shifting commitments on immigration and other policy matters with dismissal of a criminal indictment. Nor will a court likely find that such an improper exchange is consistent with the public interest,” Sassoon wrote.
The charges have yet to be formally dropped.
In their letter to the Justice Department, Raskin and Crockett said the department “has strayed far from its principles of equal justice under the law by dismissing a serious criminal public corruption matter in exchange for assistance with the White House’s immigration priorities.”
“Unfortunately, this is yet another example of the Trump DOJ allowing criminals to go free — whether they assaulted police officers, sold drugs to the community, or are corrupt politicians — as long as the criminals pledge loyalty to President Trump,” they wrote.
The lawmakers have requested that the Justice Department turn over notes related to a Jan. 31 meeting between federal prosecutors and Adams’ lawyers, and asked whether any of the documents have been destroyed. They also requested the White House and Justice Department communications related to the investigation into Adams. They gave Bondi a March 17 deadline.
But Raskin and Crockett, who are in the ********* party, have limited authority to take action against the Justice Department if their requests are denied.

The Covid inquiry has rejected a last-minute bid that would have allowed Baroness Michelle ***** and her husband Doug Barrowman to access documents and other evidence about PPE deals in the pandemic.
Last week both individuals asked to become ‘core participants’ to the inquiry – a legal status which also gives the right to make statements and apply to ask questions of witnesses.
PPE Medpro, led by Mr Barrowman, was awarded government contracts worth more than £200m during Covid after Baroness ***** recommended the firm to ministers.
The inquiry has already ruled that evidence about the company will be heard in private later this month to avoid prejudicing an ongoing police investigation. Baroness *****, 52, and Mr Barrowman, 59, have denied wrongdoing.
To date, no criminal charges have been brought and the National Crime Agency (NCA) has not instructed the Crown Prosecution Service.
The Covid inquiry has now opened four weeks of public hearings into the supply and distribution of £15bn of PPE and other medical equipment in the pandemic.
On February 27, Baroness *****, Mr Barrowman and PPE Medpro wrote to the inquiry saying they had a significant role in proceedings and they “may be subject to explicit and significant criticism”.
They also argued they had concerns about the conduct of the NCA, which has been investigating PPE Medpro since May 2021.
As core participants they would have been granted access to documents and other witness evidence provided to the Covid inquiry. Participants must sign a confidentiality agreement and agree to use that information only for inquiry purposes.
The inquiry’s chair, Baroness Hallett, rejected the couple’s approach saying she does not accept they had a direct role “in the matters to be investigated by the inquiry”.
She also said their application was made after a November 2023 deadline.
“Whilst Medpro was a significant supplier of PPE to the *** government, it was but one of a number of such suppliers and there are several other contracts that the inquiry is investigating,” she said.
Baroness Hallet has said she will not take evidence directly from representatives of firms involved in supplying PPE, an approach which has angered groups representing bereaved families.
Instead her main focus is on the approach of ministers and the government, she added.
VIP lane
PPE Medpro was one of dozens of companies which won government contracts after being referred through the so-called VIP lane – officially known as the high priority lane.
Introduced in April 2020, the idea was to fast track offers to supply PPE if they came with a recommendation from ministers, MPs, members of the House of Lords, or other senior officials.
At the time the government said there was a “desperate need” to protect health and social care staff, and it was argued swift action was required to secure PPE.
New research for the Covid inquiry found almost a third of government contracts to buy masks, gowns and other equipment went through the VIP lane.
Data showed that, of the 430 offers made in that way, 115 were successful. Those firms were 17 times more likely to win a contract than those outside the VIP lane system.
Peter Munro, policy manager at the *** Anti-Corruption Coalition, a group made up of procurement, transparency and contract specialists, said the latest data “conformed some of our worst fears”.
“PPE procured through the high priority lane was 80% more expensive than PPE procured through other channels, and half if it was unfit for purpose,” he said.

What is a word in computing architecture?
In computing architecture, a word is a fixed unit of data containing a specific number of bits that can be addressed and moved between storage and the computer processor. It is not unlike a word in English, which is the basic building block of linguistic communication or the exchange of information.
In the computer science world, the defined bit length of a word is equivalent to the width of the computer’s data bus so that a word can be moved in a single operation from storage to a processor register. For any computer with an 8-bit architecture, every 8 bits equals 1 byte, and any multiples of that 8-bit byte make up a word — i.e., the word size is some multiple of 8 bits. In Intel‘s PC processor architecture, a word is 16 bits, or two contiguous 8-bit bytes. For IBM’s Z family of mainframe computers, a word is 64 bits, or eight contiguous 8-bit bytes.
Processors and embedded systems with word sizes up to 64 bits, or 8 bytes, can support advanced instruction sets and faster system clock and bus speeds. The compilers for these computers use algorithms designed to convert information to the specific word length for which each computer is architected. Generally, the longer the architected word length, the more the computer system processor can do in a single operation.
Word sizes in computer architectures
Common computer processor architectures support from one to eight contiguous words. But there are also computer architectures that use a half word, which is half the number of bits in a word, and a double word, or dword, which is two contiguous words. Intel’s processor architecture also supports a quad word, or two contiguous double words, and a double quad word, or two contiguous quad words. The following image depicts examples of an 8-bit byte, 8-bit word and 16-bit double word.

Functions of a computer word
A computer word can contain various data types and data structures. It might contain a computer instruction, a storage address, certain application data that is manipulated, or even processing-related data and instructions such as digital signal processing. In some architectures, a double word or larger unit is required to contain an instruction, an address or application data. An instruction is typically a word in length, but some architectures support half-word and double-word instructions.
A computer’s word size is typically a function of its design and how it moves data bits within the various system elements. For example, registers are important holders for various system functions, such as addressing, and the word size is likely the size the computer accepts.
The following systems use words:
Fixed-point numbers. These numerical values typically include a standard word with different bit counts for various activities.
Floating-point numbers. These numerical values have a minimum size of one word and can also have multiple word sizes using the basic word.
Addresses. These are used for memory. Addresses can be a single word, or multiples or fractions of that word.
Registers. These hold data in preparation for processing and can support data sizes ranging from standard words to fixed- and floating-point numbers and other combinations.
Memory-processor transfer. The movement of data from memory to central processing unit (CPU) typically uses registers that support the word size used by memory — usually a single word. However, variable word sizes might also be used, depending on the system.
Instructions. Computing functions are executed using a variety of instructions that are typically formatted in the same size as the word used in the computer’s architecture.
Unit of processing. These instructions are routed directly to the CPU to run operating systems and applications.
Importance of word size
The word size is an important decision made during the design phase of a computing system. It becomes the foundation on which the computer’s capabilities are based. Once the word size has been decided, the architecture can be designed to accommodate multiple word sizes, such as double words, as part of the overall processing environment.
For example, Microsoft Windows uses a 16-bit word as its foundation. Multiples of the 16-bit word size can be accommodated based on the Intel processor type used. An Intel x86 processor can support 32-bit or 64-bit words, which are then used to support Microsoft — and other vendor — applications, including word processing software, various programming languages and application programming interfaces.
How word length affects computer processor performance
The word length that a computer can process is another way to express the amount of data that the processor can handle simultaneously. More data can be transferred to the processor in a single pass if the word length that the processor can handle on a single pass is longer. This increases processor performance.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said on Sunday it had adopted a proposal by US President Donald Trump’s envoy for a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the Ramadan and Passover periods ending about April 20, hours after the first phase of the previously agreed deal expired.
The truce would be conditional on ****** releasing half of the remaining living and dead hostages on the first day, with the remainder released at the conclusion if an agreement is reached on a permanent ceasefire.
“The occupation is pushing to return things to square one and overturn the agreement through the alternatives it is proposing,” senior ****** official ****** Hamdan said in a news conference.
“The mediators and guarantors bear full responsibility for preventing Netanyahu from sabotaging all efforts made to reach the agreement and for protecting the agreement from collapsing,” Hamdan said.
Israeli fire killed at least two people in Rafah and injured three others in Khan Younis in the south of the Gaza Strip on Monday, raising fears among Palestinians that the ceasefire could collapse altogether after Israel imposed a total blockade on the shattered enclave.
A first phase of a ceasefire between Israel and ************ militant group ****** that began in January ended over the weekend with no agreement on what will happen next.

Residents said Israeli tanks stationed near the eastern and southern borders of the Gaza Strip intensified gunfire and tank shelling into the outskirts throughout the night.
A ************ official with a group allied to ****** told Reuters a state of alert had been declared among fighters.
At least two people were killed by Israeli drone fire in Rafah, and three people were wounded by a helicopter that fired on Khan Younis, medics said.

Israel’s onslaught has killed more than 48,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to local health authorities, and displaced most of the population.
The war began when ******-led fighters attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1200 people and capturing more than 250 hostages, according to Israeli tallies.
Fifty-nine hostages are believed to remain in the Gaza Strip.

Mobile World Congress is taking place in Barcelona this week, offering manufacturers an opportunity to show off new gear without needing to hold their own splashy event. So far, we’ve learned about some new laptops and phones, as well as upcoming AI updates to Android.
Here’s a look at that caught our eye. We’ll update this story throughout the week.

Among the *******-name manufacturers, Lenovo has arguably had the busiest MWC so far. The company has revealed a whole bunch of laptops, including and several intriguing concept models.
The ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 has a design that’s more aligned with the convertible format of the Yoga lineup than a typical ThinkPad. The 14-inch machine can be equipped with a 400-nit WUXGA touch display. Other ThinkPads are getting spec upgrades, while Lenovo claims the new ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 has “one of the lightest ThinkPad designs ever.” The company has a fresh slate of as well.
Some of Lenovo’s concepts have certainly caught our attention. It’s a bummer that the company doesn’t currently plan to turn the into a commercial device. Thanks to the solar cells on the casing, the laptop can soak up enough energy from the sun in 20 minutes to play an hour of videos. As little as 0.3 watts of light is enough to juice up the battery. While solar-powered laptops aren’t exactly new, the Yoga Solar PC feels polished. Here’s hoping Lenovo does more with the notion in the future.

In addition, Lenovo showed off some for a ThinkBook laptop. There’s an eight-inch screen that attaches to the side magnetically to help you, for instance, keep up with notifications and widgets. The Magic Bay Dual Display Concept adds a 13.3-inch panel to either side of the main display. There’s also a slim second display that’s designed to sit above your laptop screen and provide quick access to things like the time, weather, notifications, a focus mode timer, an AI assistant and notifications.

On top of all of that, Lenovo offered a look at a new prototype laptop with a flexible display. Building on the tech the company used in the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, the (to give its full name) has a fold-out screen. This allows Lenovo to double the panel’s size from 13 inches to 18.1 inches. The ThinkBook Rollable’s display, on the other hand, can extend to 16.7 inches. Again, Lenovo doesn’t currently plan to release a commercial version of this fold-out laptop, but it’s an interesting idea.

The main MWC news from Samsung this year is the . The Galaxy A56 has a larger screen than its predecessor at 6.7 inches, but it’s thinner too at 7.44mm vs. 8.2mm. There’s now a small bump where the volume and power buttons are — a tweak that we feel makes the A56 easier to handle.
Samsung has switched up the camera array in the A56. On the front, there’s a lower-res 12MP lens. On the other side, you’ll find an upgraded 12MP ultrawide, 50MP main sensor and a 5MP macro lens. The A56 has a bunch of AI-powered camera and image editing features, such as enhanced subject detection in portrait mode and an object eraser.
Pre-orders are open in the *** for the Galaxy A56, which costs $499/£499. It will hit the *** on March 19, but folks in the US will have to wait until “later this year” for it.
Samsung also revealed the Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A26 5G. Both devices have a 120Hz, 6.7-inch display with brightness of up to 1,200 nits. They also share an IP67 rating and 5,000mAh battery with the A56.
However, the base models of each only have 6GB of RAM (compared with the A56’s 12GB). In addition, the A36 has the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor instead of the Exynos 1580 that the A56 boasts, while the A26 has a Exynos 1380 chipset.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn’t have plans to bring a handset it showed off at MWC to the US. That’s a real pity, because no other companies are selling phones quite like the in the country these days.
Xiaomi teamed up with Leica to make a smartphone that leans heavily into photography. The camera array includes a 1-inch 50-megapixel Sony main sensor, an f/2.2 50MP ultrawide cam, a 50MP midrange lens with a 70mm focal length and a 200MP periscope array with a 100mm focal length — that equates to a 4.7x optical zoom. Some preset Leica filters help to tie the two brands’ knowhow together.
That’s not all that might be interesting to mobile snappers. Xiaomi’s separate Photography kit includes an add-on camera grip with a physical shutter button, an adjustable dial and dedicated video button. You’ll have the option to attach a standard 67mm filter adapter to a case as well — in other words, some of the equipment you might use on a dedicated camera is compatible with the Ultra 15 as part of this setup.
Moreover, the Ultra 15 has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,200 nits of brightness to help you get a good look at your captures. Plus, unlike some other ******** phones (like Huawei’s), Xiaomi supports Google services in HyperOS 2, which is an Android skin. The Ultra 15 starts at about €1,499 (around $1,572).

Speaking of Android, Google announced . The Live Video function, which Google first previewed at I/O 2024, allows you to share what your phone’s camera sees with Gemini so you can ask the chatbot questions about the footage.
The new screensharing function works in a similar way. You can ask Gemini questions about whatever’s on your phone or tablet’s display.
If they work as well as advertised, these features could be a boon for accessibility. Google will first offer them to Gemini Advanced subscribers starting later this month. Those with a $20 per month membership, which is included with , have access to Gemini Advanced.

These upgrades could tease improvements for Meta’s consumer specs
Meta has just launched new AI smart glasses: Aria Gen 2. The bad news is you probably won’t get a pair unless you’re an AI or robotics researcher, but the good news is the upgrades the glasses boast might tease updates we can expect to see from its next-gen consumer specs that are rumored to be landing this year – and the consumer versions of its Meta Orion AR glasses. At least, that’s what I’m hoping for.
Aria is Meta’s researcher-focused AI glasses line used by researchers to help them improve their own hardware and software development, with the glasses being outfitted with all sorts of sensors Meta’s consumer specs lack. Aria Gen 2 boasts eye tracking cameras, a barometer, a PPG sensor for measuring heart rate, and a contact microphone to distinguish the wearer’s voice from that of bystanders to name just a few.
The PPG and contact microphone are new to Aria Gen 2, and they’re two sensors I could see Meta’s next-gen consumer specs adopting. The Ray-Ban Meta glasses are already very good at picking up when I’m talking to them – I was on vacation with them recently and even in a crowded space with a crowd around me they could pick up and answer my questions on Rome’s Colosseum – but even better voice detection wouldn’t be a bad thing
Meanwhile, a heart-rate sensor would be an ideal inclusion in the rumored Oakley smart glasses Meta is said to be making, which are aimed at athletes. Meta’s existing specs don’t seem super athlete focused in terms of hardware or software, and this would be one immediate remedy to that issue.
A big battery boost

Sensors aside, the biggest benefit of Aria Gen 2 is that the glasses are apparently capable of six to eight hours of continuous use, which is at least four times longer than the roughly one and a half hours you could expect from Aria Gen 1.
I’m not expecting the same degree of battery life improvements from Meta’s consumer specs (in part because Aria’s design is typically more bulky, allowing for a function over fashion approach, such as ******* heavier batteries) but if even some of Aria’s battery improvements can make it to Meta’s other glasses then that would ease my concerns over its leaked Meta Ray-Bans with an inbuilt display.
The current display-less model only lasts for about three hours of use, and I could see the display-equipped version running out of charge much faster. But with some battery upgrades borrowed from Aria Gen 2, the new Meta glasses with a screen might be able to maintain the three-hour battery life we’ve become accustomed to.

Lastly, Meta claims its Aria glasses are packing best-in-class open-ear force-canceling speakers. The Meta Ray-Bans can leak a fair amount of audio, so an improved design would be excellent for privacy – and better speakers in general would make them more capable headphone alternatives.
We’ll have to wait and see what Meta has in store for us if and when its next smart glasses launch. There’s of course no guarantee that any of these Aria upgrades will come to Meta’s consumer specs but I’ll have my fingers crossed that at Meta Connect 2025 in September we’ll see at least a couple make their way to new smart glasses.

First major Harvey Golf Club upgrades in 50 years are teed up
A Harvey institution is set to get a hole-in-one — receiving its first major upgrades in 50 years.
The Harvey Golf Club is getting half a million dollars worth of upgrades this year, thanks to a joint effort from the club, Alcoa and the Shire of Harvey who are all taking a swing at expanding the community asset.
The club will expand its existing building to facilitate a growing number of players as more and more people want to use the green.
The club is contributing $150,000 from its own coffers, with Alcoa providing $140,000 and the shire is giving $263,000, as well as providing a further $215,000 to the club as a self-supporting loan.
Harvey Golf Club president Michael Lowe said more and more members had joined in recent years, and there had been no major upgrades since it was first built in 1972.
He said while a lot had changed for the club since the 70s, the clubhouse remained the same.
“We need the space to be able to continue growing organically,” Mr Lowe said.

“We are extending the building to create much-needed additional seating, including a beautiful alfresco area that overlooks the greens.
“We’re a club with growing membership and visitation, so this project is crucial to meeting the needs of the golf community and helping the sport thrive well into the future.”
Shire president Michelle Campbell said she was excited to see the upgrades complete.
“I don’t play golf, but once this is finished, I might come here with a snack and a drink and offer some of my advice to the golfers,” she joked.
“This is a great project, and we’re excited to see it come to fruition, and I’m sure there’ll be lots of people who benefit from it.
“This fits right into our sport and recreation plan, endorsed just last year, which lights the way to new and improved infrastructure, facility management, club development and activity programming.”
Contractor Chrysalis Quantity Surveying and Cost Consulting’s director Daniel Thickbroom said the team was particularly excited for the project.
“This will be a good one, I may have to get down here a little bit early to play a few rounds before we start work,” he said.
“This is going to be good, with lovely grounds, the product at the end will be fantastic.”
Alcoa community relations manager Tom Busher said the upgrades were one of many projects the company supported.
“We routinely work with the shire to ensure capacity-building projects like this get off the ground and beloved institutions like the Harvey Golf Club can grow with the times,” he said.
“I’m certainly excited to visit for a round of golf and a meal after we cut the ribbon on this project.”

VGCartz’s Evan Norris: “As a preservation effort, the Early Days Collection deserves a big round of applause. It assembles in one place 14 early Yu-Gi-Oh! titles, including a handful of obscure games and several franchise installments previously exclusive to Japan. Judged on its software and features, however, it’s less impressive. While there are some highlights — The Eternal Duelist Soul, Stairway to the Destined Duel, and World Championship Tournament 2005 among them — many of the games are too archaic and/or cryptic to enjoy. Furthermore, most of the multiplayer functionality has been stripped away. Ultimately, the compilation is best suited for collectors, historians, and older Yu-Gi-Oh! fans interested in reliving fond memories of their own early days.”

Shortly after my 54th birthday, I received a package. The enclosed instructions told me that next time I emptied my bowels, I should scrape a bit of the stool into a small sample bottle, seal it in a pre-paid envelope and drop it into the post. I did the deed and, a few weeks later, was invited to hospital. My sample contained blood; a colonoscopy was ordered to rule out colorectal *******.
I don’t, thankfully, have colorectal *******, and a colonoscopy at 54 is a classic initiation into middle age. But in the coming years, this particular rite of passage might start happening much earlier. While rates of this ******* among people in my age group have been declining thanks to screening programmes like these, the story for the under-50s is far more troubling.
From being virtually unheard of in the 20th century, early-onset colorectal ******* (EOCRC), as it is called in people under 50, now accounts for around 10 per cent of all new cases worldwide. That number is predicted to more than double by 2030, and by then, EOCRC is expected to be the most common form of fatal ******* in Americans aged 20 to 49.
The reason why is uncertain, but an ambitious new project is exploring potential causes – as well as the idea that EOCRC may be a distinct and more aggressive form of the disease. Meanwhile, as routine screening is extended to younger groups – in January, England lowered its screening age to 50 – and new, less-invasive tests…

The Shire of Harvey’s decision to build four courts at a Brunswick Tennis Club welcomed by locals
Shire of Harvey council approved four courts for Brunswick Tennis Club last week after a vote behind closed doors.
The meeting left the community on the edge of their seats on February 25 as they waited to hear the council’s decision whether to approve three courts or four.
When the doors opened and club members found out councillors had voted in favour of four courts there were cheers, tears and celebrations.
The club had been in limbo since December 2023, when planned upgrades were halted after the shire took control of the project and cost blowouts crippled progression.
With the club being one of the only sporting facilities in town and hosting a growing roster of players, club president Julianne Hill said anything less than four courts would be a backwards step when the number of courts was questioned by the council in September.
Before the vote, lifelong club member Mark Talbot gave a deputation to the council and he said he was a third-generation player with his grandmother a founding member of the club.
“We’re going back 70 years, and we’ve never really asked for much, we’re done it pretty much all by ourselves,” he said.

“I feel with the growing population in our area, and as someone who wants to see more people coming to our area, we have to have something for them to do.
“We have no other junior sports in the area, everything has moved out to Leschenault. We need something done out here in Brunswick.
“I want to see my grandkids being the fifth generation of players playing on the courts.”
The council only debated the issue for four minutes.
Harvey shire president Michelle Campbell said the Brunswick community had been passionate about getting the project through the process.
“It has gone (on) for a long time, but I think you’ll be pleased to know the tender has been awarded for the Brunswick Tennis Courts to the Carbone Brothers for four courts,” she said.
A “woo-hoo” as well as applause filled the council chambers.
The tender came to $567,979.17 and Cr Campbell said the shire would be amending the budget during the review process to reallocate $67,979 to fund the shortfall.
Mrs Hill told the Reporter the decision was a long time coming.

“When I walked out of that meeting I actually had tears in my eyes, because that was my last-ditch effort,” she said.
“If it didn’t happen then, I was going to throw in the towel. For it to actually turn around, it was just so exciting.
“To finally get that yes — they’ve accepted the quote, yes they’re doing the four courts and they’re going to proceed — so many people have congratulated us already. “
Mrs Hill said it had been a long journey, with several months of what she felt was akin to “bashing against a wall”.
“We’ve been corresponding with he shire the whole way though, trying to keep that partnership open and working,” she said.
“It’s been a good collaboration, and it’s got stronger as time has gone by, even though it’s faulted at times. It’s a really good outcome to get these courts.”
Cr Campbell said she too was happy with the outcome.
“It’s a great outcome for the Brunswick Tennis Club and the Brunswick community,” she said.
“It has been a bit of a process, but the club has retained some really strong advocacy around it and we as a council are very pleased with the outcome.”

There will be no barriers for players on consoles or PC to play with and against one another in heated FPS action. Being a 5v5 game with no offline modes, this will give the game the best shot at keeping a healthy pool of players for people to matchmaker with. However, for those who feel PC players have an advantage over console players using a controller, you can disable crossplay if you wish.
Being a free game, cross progression is another important factor for many FragPunk players. Thankfully, this will also be included. Once you set up your account when playing the game for the first time, you can use that login when using another console or PC to retain all your progress and unlocked cards without issue.
