  4. Modders Have Created Tool To Recompile Xbox 360 Games To Native PC Ports Modders Have Created Tool To Recompile Xbox 360 Games To Native PC Ports Vits4d ago Why would this even be considered a rival to Nintendo or PlayStation? First, it is a computer, not a console. While it offers a console-like experience in some ways, that comparison only makes sense when viewed against a traditional PC. The average console user is far too casual for a device like this—just the complexity of its controller utility alone would likely overwhelm them. Second, it is significantly more expensive than almost any other gaming console. The base model is the only version that comes close to console pricing, yet it still costs more than both a Nintendo Switch and an Xbox Series S. Even compared to a PS5 Digital, it is priced similarly but offers only a quarter of the internal storage. Third, availability is another major issue. Unlike consoles, which are widely sold at major retailers worldwide, this device is not easily accessible. Even in the regions where it is officially sold, it is often unavailable in physical stores, forcing potential buyers to rely on online orders or niche distributors. That alone severely limits its reach. Finally, its global availability is highly restricted. It is not sold in many key gaming markets, including three of the five countries with the highest number of Steam users. That means a significant portion of the PC gaming audience cannot even purchase it through official channels. The Steam Deck is not a console, it’s a Handheld Computer. And it clearly dominate that market even if it’s fairly more limited in availability than it’s direct competitors. 8. Is Warzone Being Shut Down? (Answered) Is Warzone Being Shut Down? (Answered) Call of Duty: Warzone surfaced in 2020 as a free-to-play battle royale of epic proportions. Within just a few days, it had secured tens of millions of players worldwide, and it became known as one of the best games in the genre. Unfortunately, the game didn’t stand up well to the test of time, and after a couple of years, too many bad decisions were made, and players started rapidly abandoning the title. Given that times have changed and players are still moving on, is Warzone being shut down? Activision won’t support a ‘dying game’ forever, but is Warzone going to be discontinued? Join me as we find out the answer to that question. Is Warzone Dying? In 2025, a prominent Call of Duty leaker revealed that the revival of Verdansk – due to take place in April 2025 – is the last-ditch effort for Activision to bring players back to Warzone. It was mentioned that if Verdansk isn’t a success and players aren’t retained, then Warzone will be shut down before Call of Duty 2026 arrives. This comes as Warzone struggles under the weight of network issues, a plague of cheaters, and lacklustre updates that haven’t given the community a sense of hope for the future of the iconic battle royale. The esports scene for Warzone is wavering; streamers are abandoning the game for other battle royales, and players worldwide are losing faith in the platform at large. When you ask if Warzone is dying, you can just look at the streaming figures for the game: Credit: TwitchTracker.com Warzone’s performance on streaming platforms like Twitch is at an all-time low. The peaks we’re seeing now are lower than ever before, which is a telling indicator that the game is dying. Is Warzone Being Discontinued? Presently, Warzone isn’t being discontinued, but there’s a very real possibility that it will be within the next year or so. If the leaks are to be believed, Verdansk is the last shot developers have at making Call of Duty: Warzone an ongoing success. It’s an attempt to revive the player base and bring millions of users back onto the platform. If it fails, Warzone could be shut down by the end of 2026. It hasn’t been said if Warzone Mobile will be shut down, though. This speculation is in reference to the ‘main’ version of Warzone on console and PC. What will you do if Warzone is shut down? 10. Best Landing Zones in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 Best Landing Zones in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 One of the biggest parts of any battle royale game is picking where you land. It dictates your game plan, the kind of loot and equipment that you get, and depending on how hot you want to drop, it also dictates how much action you want to get in a game. It’s not different in Fortnite, but Chapter 6 Season 2 has some new curveballs. Lots of new options for landing in Chapter 6 Season 2. | Image Credit: Epic Games Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 has introduced new Points of Interests (POIs) in the map, and made changes to older ones. So if you’re confused as to which locations have the best loot this season, then your worries end here. Let’s take a look at the five best landing zones in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 for the best loot. Best POIs and Named Locations to Land At For Maximum Loot in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 A lot of hot and quiet options. | Image Credit: Fortnite.gg Crime City You’ll find good loot and good fights here. | Image Credit: @UltraUnit17/YouTube Crime City is one of the best landing spots in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 due to its central location and abundance of loot. This POI has a lot of chests, meaning you can grab weapons and shields quickly for early fights. The city’s layout is similar to streets in an urban city. So you can expect it to be perfect for early game fights. Not the best if you want to try and get a Pacifist win though. The highlight of Crime City is its bank vault, which contains high-tier loot, including gold bars and Dill Bits. If you can win the drop, it will guarantee you the vault early and you’ll be set for the rest of the match. But of course, you have to realize that this also means that it can get chaotic due to its popularity. So get ready for a fight. Lonewolf Lair If you ever wanted to fight in a mansion, this is it. | Image Credit: @UltraUnit17/YouTube Lonewolf Lair is an excellent landing spot if you’re an aggressive player who likes early game fights in close quarters. This POI features a massive mansion filled with treasure chests, allowing you to get geared up quickly. But its small hallways and multiple floors make it a challenge. Especially if there’s a lot of people landing. If you’re skilled with shotguns and SMGs, this is the perfect place to start. Additionally, Lonewolf Lair has a vault containing valuable loot, but to get it you have to defeat the area’s boss, Fletcher Kane, and his Alpha Guards. If you defeat them, you’ll be rewarded with mythic-tier weapons and an Unstoppable Medallion. Shiny Shafts Don’t forget to check the underground section. | Image Credit: @PerfectScore/YouTube Located on the western edge of the map, Shiny Shafts is one of the underrated landing spots in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2. This POI is less crowded compared to the other two we just mentioned, and that makes it a great option for players who prefer a slower start. C6S2 POI Tier List: 1- Crime City 2- Shiny Shafts 3- Seaport City 4- Masked Meadows 5- Lonewolf Lair pic.twitter.com/GAIU834Z6I — NAcompReport (@NAcompReport_) February 21, 2025 The underground tunnels here provide excellent cover, and there are plenty of hidden chests to find in the cave. Shiny Shafts also has a secret vault, which can be unlocked by activating three pressure valves around the area. If you’re able to access the vault, you’ll find rare weapons, gold bars, and slurp barrels. Magic Mosses If you want to take some nature in, then this is it. | Image Credit: @PerfectScore/YouTube Magic Mosses may not be as flashy as some of the other POIs, but it’s another fantastic landing spot for players who want to stock up on loot without immediately engaging in fights. This forest area in this POI is filled with hidden chests, and you can loot good weapons and items early on here. One thing to note is that there isn’t much vertical cover, but the trees and obelisks are decent enough as hiding spots for repositioning. Another advantage of this POI is that it’s close to popular locations like Flooded Frogs and Crime City. So if you’re a player that likes to stock up on loot for early rotates into high action areas, this is your spot. Masked Meadows This place feels like old Fortnite. | Image Credit: @JKCGaming/YouTube Masked Meadows is a well-rounded landing option for players who want a mix of loot and safety. This POI wasn’t very popular before this season but has become more viable thanks to the addition of a vault inside the Masked Motorway Bank. You’ll find that this POI isn’t as heavily contested as Crime City, but it still attracts enough players to make early fights interesting. The layout is beginner-friendly, with evenly spaced houses that remind us of the early look and feel of the Fortnite map. The rooftops can give you an early advantage to see where other enemies are, and engaging in fights with a height advantage. The POI’s location also makes it easy to rotate to Seaport City or Magic Mosses. And that’s the list of the best places you’ll want to land in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2. There’s a good mix of hot and quiet drops here but you can rest assured that you’ll be topped up on loot no matter which location you pick. 11. Bitcoin’s Wild Ride – Open Interest, ETF Flows Amid Trump’s Crypto Remarks Bitcoin’s Wild Ride – Open Interest, ETF Flows Amid Trump’s Crypto Remarks Bitcoin’s (BTC/USD) price experienced significant volatility, dropping to $78k before rising to $95,000 due to Trump’s cryptocurrency reserve comments, then settling around $86k. Open interest for Bitcoin is at a six-month low, which historically has preceded price jumps. Spot Bitcoin ETF flows saw a $94.3 million investment on the last day of February, ending a ******* of significant withdrawals. Can it continue? Technical analysis indicates a potential downtrend for BTC/USD. ’s rollercoaster ride continued today with the world’s largest cryptocurrency rising about 18% since Friday’s low. The gains proved short-lived however, as Bitcoin surrendered half of those gains to trade back at $86k at the time of writing. Crypto Heatmap, March 3, 2025 Source: TradingView President Trump and the Crypto Reserve Bitcoin’s price surged by 11%, reaching almost $95,000, after U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned on March 2 the idea of creating a strategic cryptocurrency reserve. Initially, he said it would include , , and , but later added on his Truth Social platform that it would also include Bitcoin, , and other cryptocurrencies. The move followed a rise of 2% on March 1 and a recovery in price on Friday 28 from lows of 78197 to close almost flat at 84321. Trump’s post gave crypto a positive push, but ******* issues like tariffs still play a big role for traders. Cryptocurrencies are still affected by overall economic conditions and that was reflected by price action today as tariff uncertainty and geopolitics continue to dominate. There are concerns around President Trump’s plans as according to James “MetaLawMan” Murphy, a lawyer focused on crypto issues, he does not believe a strategic digital asset reserve can be established by executive order. Murphy went further and pointed out on X that even if Congress quickly approves the strategic digital asset reserve which is unlikely, the main question is how it will be funded. Most likely, the plan would start by stopping government sales of crypto assets, which would have only a small effect on prices. The question in the short-term is whether Friday’s lows around $78k handle serve as a floor for another push toward $100k, or crumble as overall market sentiment remains one of caution. ETF Flows Spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. saw $94.3 million in investments on the last day of February, marking the end of crypto’s toughest month in three years. This amount ended an eight-day ******* of withdrawals when investors took out more than $3.2 billion from these funds as crypto prices dropped. The new week will be pivotal for ETF flows as it will be interesting to see if ETF flows improve following the crypto reserve comments by President Trump over the weekend. Bitcoin ETF Flow Source: Farside Investors (click to enlarge) Bitcoins’ Open Interest Paints a Positive Picture CrediBULL Crypto shared on X that Bitcoin’s open interest is now at its lowest point in six months. He mentioned that the last time it was this low, Bitcoin’s price was between $50,000 and $60,000. He also pointed out that Bitcoin’s funding rate has turned negative, which is the same thing that happened before Bitcoin’s price jumped to $100,000 when it was trading in the $50,000-$60,000 range. Interestingly, he stated that these signals look “fantastic” for Bitcoin and support his belief that it has hit a bottom. This seems true, as Bitcoin has bounced back to $95,000 after dropping below $80,000 last week. CrediBULL Crypto on X Source: ‘CrediBULL Crypto’ on X (click to enlarge) Technical Analysis BTC/USD Bitcoin (BTC/USD) from a technical standpoint on the daily timeframe remain in a downtrend despite the weekend rally. The failure of the daily candle to close above the 96572 handle leaves BTC/USD vulnerable to further downside. There is also a death cross formation as the 50-day MA crosses below the 100-day MA which usually hints at further downside potential. Bitcoin (BTC/USD) Daily Chart, March 3, 2025 Source: TradingView.com Dropping down to a two-hour chart and the inverse head and shoulders pattern that formed over last week with a break occurring over the weekend has played out to perfection. The target was around the 95000 handle which has also been fulfilled and preceded a significant pullback on Monday. The concern part is that the bullish rally has not just faded but a candle close below the previous swing low at 85600 means we have had a shift in structure favoring bears at this stage. There is also the 50 and 100-day MAs both of which will provide significant resistance hurdles should bulls look to make a move once more. Immediate resistance rests at 86567 and 88096 before the 90000 handle comes back into focus. Immediate support rests at 85000 before the 83500 and 80000 handles come into focus. 14. What the *** is getting right (and wrong) about AI adoption What the *** is getting right (and wrong) about AI adoption Three months into 2025, it has already been an eventful year for artificial intelligence (AI). The Trump administration announced half a trillion dollars of investment into the sector, while China’s DeepSeek almost tore it all down, surprising everyone with a low-cost generative AI (GenAI) model. Meanwhile, the recent AI Summit held in Paris saw lines being drawn on regulation between Europe and the ***. Given the circumstances, it’s understandable that some have overlooked the *** government’s AI Action Plan. It was launched in January by Keir Starmer at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, setting out 50 measures aimed at making the *** an irresistible destination for AI firms. With over £14bn committed to the plan, the government wants to position the *** as a global leader in the adoption of artificial intelligence. The potential rewards are vast and well documented. The International Monetary Fund estimates that if AI is fully embraced, it could boost *** productivity by as much as 1.5 percentage points per year. These gains could contribute up to £47bn annually to the *** economy over the next decade. However, a major challenge looms – time. More specifically, the time needed to effectively integrate AI into our infrastructure and businesses. According to Global Data, the AI market is projected to surpass $1tn by 2030, with AI embedded in every organisation. But will that be the case? The recent decision to delay the ***’s AI Bill, set for March, by six months to align with the incoming US administration exemplifies this best – a missed opportunity. Businesses thrive on stability and clear regulatory frameworks – postponing legislation undermines confidence at a critical moment and could deter investment and adoption of the technology. The *** cannot afford to rely on broad commitments without tangible specifics. A(I)dapt or die Despite the ambitious goals of the ***’s AI Action Plan, questions arise around the specifics of the plan, and whether they will enable widespread adoption. Sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, and finance have already begun integrating AI, yet the same cannot be said for other industries. With fewer than 30% of workers currently engaging with AI in their roles, the *** must accelerate its efforts to drive AI adoption at scale. The *** should go beyond mirroring US ambitions for big tech dominance. The real opportunity lies in the adoption of AI. To remain competitive, businesses will have to embrace AI as a fundamental tool for long-term success. The *** risks an AI divide – where large corporations capitalise on AI’s potential while smaller businesses miss out Gavin Poole, Here East Investing in skills development, fostering cross-functional collaboration across the public and private sectors, and creating AI-friendly policies will be crucial in ensuring that companies of all sizes can benefit from AI innovations. Without these initiatives, the *** risks an AI divide – where large corporations capitalise on AI’s potential while smaller businesses miss out. The *** should therefore prioritise the integration of frontier technologies, like AI, into its key sectors, where it can create palpable long-term growth through practical AI implementation. At our innovation campus, Here East, we’re speaking with leaders in AI and wider frontier technology about how we leverage the ***’s existing tech strengths to drive economic growth – precisely the kind of conversation that must shape national AI policy. The need for decisive AI regulation The government’s delay in AI regulation reflects a strategic effort to align with the US, but it risks creating uncertainty in the ***. While international collaboration on AI policy is important, clear and timely domestic regulation is necessary to maintain the ***’s competitive edge. Businesses need confidence in the regulatory environment to invest, innovate, and scale AI-driven solutions. AI adoption must also be grounded in sustainability and ethics. Thriving in the GenAI era requires a robust framework that respects creative freedom, ensures privacy, and fosters trust. The government continuing to deliberate, seen with the recent issues surrounding AI and copyrighting in the creative sector, will not help solve this issue. The *** has an opportunity to lead in responsible AI implementation, balancing innovation with safeguards that protect consumers and businesses alike. Collaboration between policymakers, businesses, and universities is therefore essential to fostering AI adoption that is both ambitious and sustainable. Economic projections reinforce the urgency of decisive action. AI has the potential to drive significant productivity gains, but without a clear regulatory framework, these benefits may not be fully realised. The *** must ensure that AI regulations do not stifle growth but instead create an environment where businesses can thrive while adhering to ethical and legal standards. Creating a catalyst for productivity AI has the potential to deeply embed itself across our world-beating industries and help drive a fundamental shift in *** productivity. The latest ONS *** productivity figures paint a concerning picture – only three out of 18 industries saw productivity gains, while key sectors such as retail, energy, and healthcare experienced declines of over 4%. British workers have consistently lagged behind their counterparts in other advanced economies in terms of productivity, turning what was once a long-term concern into an urgent crisis. Without intervention, this “quicksand” problem could derail the ***’s broader economic growth. To combat this, the *** must proactively invest in frontier-focused education, workforce development, and AI-driven productivity enhancements to capitalise on this transformation. As new technologies such as AI agents transform our day-to-day, reskilling workers and ensuring a smooth transition for those affected by AI-driven changes will be paramount. AI alone will not solve the ***’s productivity challenges. Businesses need more than broad promises – they require tangible incentives and clear guidance on AI adoption. AI-powered tools, such as automated CV screening, mean little if they do not translate into genuine productivity gains. Without decisive action, the *** risks an AI adoption gap, where only well-resourced firms reap the benefits, leaving smaller businesses behind. The *** must shift its focus from simply keeping pace with AI investments in the US and China to leading in AI adoption and application. Rather than chasing capital-heavy AI development projects dominated by larger economies, the *** should capitalise on its unique strengths – research excellence, a strong startup ecosystem, and a history of innovation. The government has laid out a promising foundation in a turbulent time for artificial intelligence. However, if it truly wants to make the *** an AI powerhouse, it must deliver at speed. The window of opportunity is open – but it will not remain so indefinitely. Source link #wrong #adoption Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

A 55-year-old longevity doctor says he’s healthier than he was 20 years ago. Here is his biggest tip for living longer. Dr. Shai Efrati, 55, says he is healthier than he was 20 years ago. His biggest tip to patients who want to live longer is to not retire. Other experts agree that retiring can be detrimental to longevity. A longevity doctor shared his biggest tip for extending your life — don’t retire. Dr. Shai Efrati, a physician and a professor in medicine and neuroscience at Tel Aviv University, has been documenting his health for the last 20 years, including MRI scanning his brain and testing his cognition and physical performance. He told Business Insider his health markers are better now than they were when he was in his 30s. As the founder of a hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic in Florida, Efrati partially attributes his health to the treatment where patients breathe in pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been linked to reversing some of the biomarkers of aging, but isn’t approved for this use by the Food and Drug Administration. However, in his work with patients who want to age healthily, Efrati’s biggest tip is to keep working for as long as possible. Work can give us a sense of purpose “The most important thing is to have a future,” Efrati said. He said being needed by others can be one way to find purpose. “Of course, if you are working in construction or something physically challenging, then stop. But if not, then don’t ever retire,” he said. “If you are quitting one type of work, find another one. Fight for a purpose, be need-able for something.” Efrati gave the example of a 90-something patient who was still working in real estate and thinking about how to build on Mars. Efrati believes the man’s attitude and sense of purpose made him a better candidate for longevity-boosting medical care than a 40-year-old who had retired with the sole intention of relaxing. Continuing to work into your later years could help you live longer.Halfpoint Images/Getty Images A 2019 study found that of the 6,985 participants aged between 51 and 61, those who had a stronger purpose in life were less likely to die in the 16 to 18-year follow-up *******. The authors said it’s possible that a sense of purpose contributes to our wellbeing, which has been associated with lower levels of inflammation. Staying occupied is linked to living longer Karen Glaser, a professor of gerontology at Kings College London and lead researcher on the WHERL study into work, health, and life expectancy, previously told *** that staying in a job that isn’t too stressful or physically demanding could protect our cognitive abilities. Whereas retiring can deprive us of social connections, which are linked to longevity, she said. A 2023 study published in BMC Medicine found that people aged between 37 and 73 who were socially isolated had a 77% higher risk of dying of any cause. Ben Meyers and Fabrizio Villatoro, researchers at LongeviQuest, an organization that validates the ages of the world’s oldest people, previously told *** that working hard for as long as possible was a common trait among the over 1,000 supercentenarians that they had met. And Heidi Tissenbaum, a professor in biology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School who researches healthy lifespans, said that keeping both the body and brain busy is essential for living a long, healthy life. The same benefits can be gotten from volunteering or taking up hobbies, Glaser said — staying occupied is the key, rather than employment itself. 16. Meta and Internet Society team up to expand internet access around the world Meta and Internet Society team up to expand internet access around the world Meta and the Internet Society have established the Connectivity Co-Funding Initiative, which aims to expand affordable internet connection around the world. They announced the new project at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The partners are committing a $30 million investment through 2030 that will go to funding infrastructure development in various communities, specifically those overlooked or intentionally ignored by commercial providers. In addition, the initiative’s money will go towards training programs that improve the technical know-how of marginalized grounds, to community-centered solutions for underserved areas, as well as to locally owned networks that create jobs. This an expansion of the non-profit organization’s partnership with Meta, which started years ago when they worked together to improve internet connectivity in Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America by developing Internet exchange points. These points, or IXPs, are physical locations where internet providers can exchange traffic. Meta is only the Internet Society’s first partner for the Co-Funding Initiative, and the non-profit org is putting out a call for more partners who can help grow that fund. “This new Connectivity Co-Funding initiative, supported by Meta, is a prime example of collective action that will help provide meaningful access to more than 2 billion people across the world with insufficient or no Internet,” said Sally Wentworth, President and CEO of the Internet Society. “It is our hope that this fund plays a pivotal role in reducing this gap and creating a more equitable digital society.” Source link #Meta #Internet #Society #team #expand #internet #access #world Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  18. Perth power outages: Roger Cook forced to apologise after blackouts cause loss of money for business owners Perth power outages: Roger Cook forced to apologise after blackouts cause loss of money for business owners Roger Cook was forced to apologise and business owners were left counting the cost after another wave of power outages plunged 40,000 homes and businesses across the city into darkness on Tuesday. Drizzly rain was blamed for sparking 51 pole top fires in suburbs from Hamilton Hill to Hocking, with suburbs including Girrawheen, Beechboro, Balcatta, The Vines, Balga, Caversham, Wanneroo, Kelmscott and Duncraig also affected. It was the the second major round of power outages caused by pole top fires this year after metropolitan and rural properties went up to almost a week without power in January. The outages have hit many businesses hard, with some left to the count the cost of losing a day’s worth of sales. Doctors surgeries, sports clubs, and major shopping centres were also forced to shut their doors. Pure and Natural Honey Co director Liam Ross said he had to send staff home and keep the factory doors shut due to a lack of power in Landsdale. “Our employees have had to be sent home and we’re unable to operate today,” he said. “It’s causing a loss of income for us and substantial headaches.” Mr Ross estimated his business would lose up to $3000 in lost sales. “It’s not just myself, it’s my employees as well they had to be sent some without pay as they’re casual, so this impacts them as well as me,” he said. “My employees arrived at work this morning and couldn’t open the roller door, they’ve basically gone to work and then had to be sent home.” Speaking in Pinjarra, Mr Cook said he was sorry for the inconvenience. Camera IconThe outages have hit many businesses hard, with some left to the count the cost of losing a day’s worth of sales. Credit: Night News/supplied “We have around about 30,000 (40,000) residents who were with our power today and we apologise for the inconvenience,” he said. “These pole top fire events, which occur mostly in these late summer periods are inconvenient.” Mr Cook said steps were being taken to restore power to customers. “Western Power have got everyone on the job today to make sure that we reconnect those customers as soon as possible,” he said. “We know it’s we know it’s inconvenient and we’ll do everything we can to reconnect those customers.” Western Power said the outages were caused by “power pole damage due to light, drizzly weather causing pole top fires.” “Pole top fires can occur during light drizzling rain or misty damp conditions when a combination of recent dust and pollution builds up to creates paths or ‘tracks’ on the insulators, enabling electricity to jump across,” a spokesperson said. “This tracking electricity can heat elements of the pole infrastructure to a point where they smoulder and burn.” Western Power executive manager of asset operations Zane Christmas said the utility was working to get power restored as soon as possible but conceded some homes could remain without power overnight. He said customers were “no more frustrated than our teams trying to repair it”. Camera IconWestern Power said about 1700 people in Mirrabooka, Beechboro, Noranda and Malaga were estimated to have their electricity restored by 10am. Credit: Western Power “It’s random events, very difficult to predict. (We’re) spending a huge amount of money every year trying to mitigate it, but it is a really difficult sort of phenomenon,” he told ABC Radio. Mr Christmas added the company was looking at trialling steel poles, which “will have some benefit, obviously not burning is one of them but it brings with it other risks so we’ve got to mitigate both risks”. Liberal leader Libby Mettam said the power outages were a result of misaligned priorities. “This is another example of the Premier not doing his job, we’ve got over 90 unplanned outages, we’ve got 40,000 houses in darkness because the Cook Labor government have their priorities all wrong,” she said. “They’re focused on fancy race tracks by the Swan, hundreds of millions committed to a special NRL team instead of ensuring that Western Australians have reliable and affordable energy.” Early on Tuesday morning, Main Street in Osborne Park had been closed in both directions as a result of the power outage. Traffic lights were also out at the Altone and Benara Roads intersection in Beechboro and on Malaga Drive near Reid Highway. Western Power said its maintenance team was “constantly improving” the way 860,000 power poles across the network were managed. “We have a comprehensive poles and wires maintenance program and a preventative program which includes ‘de-energised’ siliconing and washing, insulator replacements, and managing trees and vegetation near wires, and high-pressure cleaning of insulators,” they said. I’m glad that image at least came out the other side as a much better company for independent artists to do their projects at. And I’m glad it has become what it is today. 20. Mexico makes case to avoid US tariffs, but Trump says they will take effect on Tuesday Mexico makes case to avoid US tariffs, but Trump says they will take effect on Tuesday MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum said Monday that her administration was waiting to see if U.S. President Donald Trump makes good on his threat to impose 25% tariffs on ******** imports. Her Cabinet secretaries for security and trade among others have been in constant communication with their U.S. counterparts and she said there was still the possibility she and Trump would speak Monday. Trump had threatened to impose tariffs in February before suspending them at the last minute, when Mexico sent 10,000 National Guard troops to their shared border to crack down on drug trafficking and ******** immigration. Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories. “It’s a decision that depends on the United States government, on the United States president,” Sheinbaum said. “So whatever his decision is, we will make our decisions and there is a plan, there is unity in Mexico.” Trump said later on Monday that the tariffs will start as soon as Tuesday. There is “no room left for Mexico or for Canada,” Trump said at a news conference announcing a significant investment in U.S. microchip production. “The tariffs, you know, they’re all set. They go into effect tomorrow.” Mexico believes it has made a strong case. The number of migrants arriving at the U.S. border is the lowest it has been in years. Last week, Mexico sent 29 drug cartel figures, including the man involved in the 1985 killing of a DEA agent, to the United States. Security forces have dismantled more than 100 synthetic drug labs in Sinaloa, and systematically weakened the two main factions of the cartel by the same name. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday that Mexico had offered to match the tariffs the U.S. will impose on China. “It’s very important that the people know that we have made a very important effort of coordination, of collaboration, but it depends on the United States,” Sheinbaum said. “We have to respond to this decision.” ____ Follow AP’s coverage of Latin America and the Caribbean at Source link #Mexico #case #avoid #tariffs #Trump #effect #Tuesday Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  24. Microsoft Dragon Copilot AI Unveiled, Can Help Medical Professionals Automate Documentation Microsoft Dragon Copilot AI Unveiled, Can Help Medical Professionals Automate Documentation Microsoft unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot on Monday that can help medical professionals reduce their documentation workload. Dubbed Dragon Copilot, the new AI assistant can record conversations, write clinical notes, draft referral letters and even create post-visit summaries. The Redmond-based tech giant’s latest tool for clinicians is based on AI tools from Nuance, a company acquired by Microsoft. Since it is not a retail-focused tool, and instead caters to medical institutions, the company has not revealed the pricing for Dragon Copilot. Microsoft Unveils Dragon Copilot In a newsroom post, the tech giant detailed the new AI assistant for medical professionals. Citing 2024 data from the American Medical Association, the company highlighted that clinician burnout in the US in 2024 was noted at 48 percent. Although there was a drop from the previous year’s 53 percent, Microsoft claimed that the persistent burnout could lead to a workforce shortage. The Windows maker also added that a significant portion of this burnout came from increased workloads involving paperwork and documentation related to patient care. Details about the product can be found on a new microsite here. Microsoft’s Dragon Copilot is pitched by the company as a solution to that problem. Notably, the two tools used to build the AI assistant, Dragon Medical One (DMO) and Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX), were both developed by Nuance, which Microsoft acquired in 2022. DMO is an AI tool that can take natural language voice assistant, and DAX offers ambient listening capabilities. Dragon Copilot combines both with generative AI capabilities to create an assistant that can help doctors and clinicians across several administrative tasks. Dragon Copilot can record and process verbal data from doctor-patient conversations in multiple languages and then combine that with information from medical sources to generate medical notes, referral letters, and post-visit summaries. Additionally, it can also personalise the generated content, adhering to the professional’s style and formatting. Microsoft says the AI assistant can also allow clinicians to ask about general-purpose medical information. The information is said to be pulled from “trusted content sources,” but the company did not disclose any details. While the tech giant did not detail any measures being taken to maintain data security and privacy, given the AI assistant will work with highly sensitive medical information of people, it stated that the Dragon Copilot’s capabilities are built on a “secure data estate” and provides healthcare-specific clinical, chat, and compliance safeguards. Dragon Copilot will be generally available in the US and Canada in May. In the coming months, the company also plans to expand it to France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the ***. 25. Six Nations: Ireland ‘incredibly lucky’ over Garry Ringrose ban believes former lock Donncha O’Callaghan Six Nations: Ireland ‘incredibly lucky’ over Garry Ringrose ban believes former lock Donncha O’Callaghan Former Ireland international Donncha O’Callaghan believes Garry Ringrose’s Six Nations red card against Wales “holds a massive mirror” up to rugby’s disciplinary processes. Ireland centre Ringrose was dismissed for a high tackle on Ben Thomas in the Principality Stadium last month but will sit out just one championship game, his side’s hosting of France in Dublin on Saturday. “If we’re going to give the bans, we need to stand by them. Otherwise we’re undermining all our officials,” said O’Callaghan on Rugby Union Weekly. “We [Ireland] are incredibly lucky to have Garry back on the pitch so soon. “Nothing towards him. He’s an incredible player, not a bit dirty, an incredible guy, but that went wrong. “To see the way the citing went is disappointing.” Ringrose’s three-game ban came after the mid-range entry point of a six week/match suspension was reduced by 50% taking into account his guilty plea and previous disciplinary record. A further game will be taken off should Ringrose complete World Rugby’s Coaching Intervention Programme. The 30-year-old was also able to serve the first game of the suspension during Leinster’s United Rugby Championship victory over Cardiff on Saturday, meaning he could return against Italy in the Six Nations’ final weekend.
