  1. This insulin delivery system stock at the ‘forefront of innovation’ can jump 25%, RBC says This insulin delivery system stock at the ‘forefront of innovation’ can jump 25%, RBC says It’s time to buy into shares of Insulet , according to RBC Capital Markets. Analyst Shagun Singh initiated coverage of the medtech company with an outperform rating, saying that its differentiated patch automated insulin delivery product is the only one on the market, giving the company a first mover advantage. “Insulet is at the forefront of innovation in the automatic insulin delivery (AID) pump market,” Singh wrote on Wednesday. “Its proprietary Omnipod systems (Omnipod 5, Omnipod DASH, OmniPod GO) have transformed the experience of insulin-dependent diabetes management by shifting people from multiple daily injections (MDIs) as well as insulin pens and tubed insulin pumps.” PODD 1D mountain Insulet Insulet shares have outpaced the broader market, jumping 65% over the last 12 months and more than 3% to start 2025. However, the analyst expects further upside from here. Singh’s $340 price target implies more than 25% upside from Wednesday’s close of $270.81. In the Thursday premarket, Insulet shares were down slightly. The outperform rating reflects in part Insulet’s large total addressable market of 14 million patients that is as yet underutilized, read the note. The analyst projects greater than 26% earnings per share growth over the next three years. What’s more, the company has another major catalyst as it begins to tap into the Type 2 diabetes market, a global market of 9 million patients, where Insulet recently received the green light from the Food and Drug Administration. “Checks suggest PODD’s Omnipod 5 AID System is unique positioned to drive continued adoption,” Singh wrote. “Omnipod 5 is the first AID system cleared for both Type 1 (Jan’22) and Type 2 (Aug’24) patients in the U.S. It is the only tubeless/patch pump offered via the pharmacy channel, poised to drive significant uptake and margin benefit over peers.” Analysts are generally bullish on the stock. LSEG data shows that 20 of 24 who cover Insulet rate it a buy or strong buy. The average price target signals more than 16% upside ahead. 3. WestEnd Square shopping center sold for $24 million WestEnd Square shopping center sold for $24 million **** Supermarket, a national retailer featuring **** supplies, is slated to open in the WestEnd Square Shopping Center. Owners of the WestEnd Square — a shopping center home to a new Planet Fitness, Aldi and Five Below on Tallahassee’s west side — have sold a large portion of the property. Located at Ocala Road and Pensacola Street, the shopping center is the largest strip commercial property within a mile of Doak Campbell Stadium and Florida State’s campus. A large 152,000 square-foot portion of the inline property, with the exception of Aldi’s 52,000 square-foot space (the grocer owns its space), sold for roughly $24 million. The outlying parcels that include Starbucks and a Tesla supercharging station remain under the ownership of Student Housing Partners LLC, a firm that manages more than a dozen student-centric properties. The shopping center has undergone major renovation over the years. Last year, tornadoes ripped through Tallahassee and damaged parts of the WestEnd Square shopping center, including roof damage that had to be repaired. “We finally feel like we’ve repositioned the shopping center to the point where we renovated it and brought it to a more modern and contemporary look,” said Dylan Leoni, who’s part of the management team at Student Housing Partners. “We brought in a lot of new great businesses and tenants … We spent all of this time getting this center to this point to put it out to the market.” His dad, Steve Leoni, purchased the shopping center in 2003 and said this was a “good time to transact.” His company owns several properties west of the stadium and Leoni said there are plans to build a new hotel across the street from the shopping center. “There’s no hotel from the university west of campus all the way to the airport,” Steve Leoni said. “We were lucky enough to have Marriott give us the franchise for a TownePlace Suites … It’s in the works.” At this time, Leoni said no permits have been issued and work is underway to draft the hotel’s design and an agreement with Marriott to build a 150-room hotel on the property. 5. Scranton helped the US aid Ukraine. Now its role is uncertain Scranton helped the US aid Ukraine. Now its role is uncertain US President Donald Trump’s pause on military aid and intelligence sharing for Ukraine has left the war-torn country’s residents uncertain about their futures and rattled America’s European allies. But it also hit far closer to home in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a city about 4,700 miles (7,560km) away from Kyiv that has played its own small role in the conflict. Scranton is known as the setting for the American version of The Office television show, and as the birthplace of former President Joe Biden – one of Ukraine’s biggest backers. It is also home to the Scranton Army Artillery Plant, which manufactures some of the rounds the US has sent to Ukraine. It is owned by the US government and operated by contractor General Dynamics, Ordnance and Tactical Systems. Large-calibre metal projectiles are made on site, and it has “steadily increased production levels” of 155mm artillery rounds in recent years, according to the US Army. The US military ramped up production of this artillery during the war in Ukraine at several facilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky toured the plant during a whirlwind trip to Scranton in September 2024, shaking hands with staff and observing its machinery. The community sees its work as representing the US commitment to Ukraine, said Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti.”We have multiple Ukrainian churches here. We have quite the diaspora of Ukrainian Americans,” Cognetti said. St Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church in Scranton has raised funds for the war effort and hosted Ukrainian soldiers at community events. “Scranton has a very proud history of supporting Ukraine,” Cognetti told the BBC, “and it’s been a really tough couple of weeks here, as we see that support erode from the US administration.” Cognetti was unsettled by the Oval Office argument between Trump, Zelensky, and US Vice-President JD Vance last Friday. “To see US policy shift and potentially to have the US really turn its back on Ukraine is really appalling,” she said. The Scranton artillery plant “ensures warfighters have the ammo when and where needed, and continues to bolster US stockpiles around the globe,” said Lt Gen Chris Mohan, deputy commanding general and acting commander, in a statement about Zelensky’s visit. Cognetti said that the plant had added “many dozens” of jobs and increased capacity during the Ukraine war, estimating that about 400 people worked there when Zelensky visited. But with the Trump administration now pressurising Zelensky to end the war, Scranton’s role in geopolitics could be winding down. US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz confirmed on Wednesday that the White House had paused intelligence sharing with Kyiv, telling reporters: “We have taken a step back.” The Trump administration is reviewing “all aspects of this relationship”, he added. Republican lawmakers have backed Trump’s recent actions, which they see as key to negotiating an end to the war. “I think the president just wants to get everybody to the table, and I think he’s making progress,” South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds told reporters. There are different estimates for how much military aid the US has given Ukraine, a BBC Verify analysis found. The *******-based Kiel Institute estimated the total at $119.7bn (£94.3bn). The US Department of Defense provided a total of $182.8bn, which includes spending on Operation Atlantic Resolve – a response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Fedir Venislavsky, a member of the Ukrainian parliament’s defence committee, told the BBC that without US military aid, front-line soldiers would be able to last “maybe six months.” The region is home to multiple military manufacturing plants, including a Lockheed Martin facility and the larger Tobyhanna Army Depot, which also produces some supplies for Ukraine. Representatives for the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant declined to comment on how the pause could impact the plant and jobs. On Tuesday, cars pulled into the secure facility as usual, and its car park appeared full. Any effect would be minor for Scranton’s economy, local officials said. The plant “is not the largest employer by any stretch,” said Bob Durkin, president of the non-partisan Scranton Chamber of Commerce. “But it’s a very important employer. The jobs are really high quality jobs. They are well paying, family sustaining jobs.” Outside the plant’s gates, Scranton’s perspective on the war remains divided. Though Scranton, in north-east Pennsylvania, is a historically Democratic area, Republicans have made political gains in the region. In the 2024 presidential election, Trump won the state, but narrowly lost Lackawanna County, where Scranton is located, to then-Vice-President Kamala Harris. However, in the House race, Republican Rob Bresnahan ousted Democratic congressman, Matt Cartwright, by just 6,200 votes. Trump campaigned against US spending on Ukraine, a pledge that resonated with his base. On Tuesday, just before his speech before Congress, denizens at the local Poor Richards dive bar were split on Ukraine – and what role Scranton ought to play on the world stage. “I feel really angry about the way Trump handled the meeting with Zelensky,” said Brandon Lux, 35, who worked in mental healthcare in Scranton. “Halting all government funding to Ukraine right now, I think that that will definitely have implications for what happens here in our city.” But other residents felt Trump was correct to pressure Zelensky and to reassess Biden’s support of the embattled country. “We don’t have money to give them, we have to take care of our people first,” said Fran Fitzgerald, who described herself as a “big fan” of Trump. Ms Fitzgerald said she hoped the Trump administration could direct the funds being used in Ukraine to projects like fixing Scranton’s “terrible roads” and potholes. Mike Pierson, an electrician, voted for Trump but does not necessarily agree with all his actions so far. The self-identified independent worried that Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency taskforce would endanger his Social Security benefits. He hopes to retire within the next five years. But Mr Pierson echoed the president’s argument that the US should not be spending money abroad on conflicts like Ukraine, but back at home. “We’re the world’s bank, we’re the world’s insurance policy,” he said. “We need to stop.” Source link #Scranton #helped #aid #Ukraine #role #uncertain Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  9. Jose Mourinho says he is the ‘opposite’ of racist after Galatasaray’s racism allegations Jose Mourinho says he is the ‘opposite’ of racist after Galatasaray’s racism allegations Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho says he is the “opposite” of racist following the racism allegations made against him by Galatasaray. Galatasaray said they would “initiate criminal proceedings” against Mourinho after claiming he made “racist statements” following the teams’ 0-0 draw on 24 February. “They [Galatasaray] were not clever in the way they attacked me, because they didn’t know my past,” Mourinho told Sky Sports., external “They didn’t know my connections with Africa, with African people and African players and African charities. “So instead of going against me, I think it boomeranged and went against them.” Following the Istanbul derby, Mourinho said the home bench had been “jumping like monkeys” during the game, with Fenerbahce subsequently saying Mourinho’s comments had been taken “completely taken out of context”. Mourinho, 64, has also filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray seeking damages worth 1,907,000 Turkish Lira (£41,000). “Everyone knows who I am as a person. Everybody knows my bad qualities, but that is not one of my bad qualities. 11. Nasdaq 100: Will Dip-Buyers Step in to to Halt This Short-Term Bearish Reversal? Nasdaq 100: Will Dip-Buyers Step in to to Halt This Short-Term Bearish Reversal? After staging an impressive bounce into the close yesterday, US index futures were trading lower by the mid-morning London session. European indices were all trading in the red, after the early optimism that was driven by Germany’s ambitious spending plans faded, sending the lower after climbing to a fresh all-time high at the start of the European trade. The sentiment was hit by a disappointing revenue outlook from Marvell Technology (NASDAQ:), dampening enthusiasm among investors hoping for stronger gains from the AI *****. Broadcom (NASDAQ:), another chipmaker closely linked to the artificial intelligence surge, dropped ahead of its earnings release. Let’s see if the dip-buyers will step back in after the open, as we have seen in the last couple of sessions. The and are both testing their respective 200-day moving averages, along with key tech names including Amazon (NASDAQ:), Oracle (NYSE:), Tesla (NASDAQ:) and MicroStrategy (NASDAQ:). In this article we will run through these names and highlight key levels to watch. Nasdaq 100 Technical Analysis and Key Levels to Watch In the last couple of days, we have seen dip-buying in US markets, with the 200-day moving average coming into focus, not just for the , but the too, as well as some individual names like Amazon, Oracle, Tesla and MicroStrategy. On the daily chart of the Nasdaq 100 futures chart, the 20,000 to 20385 range marks the starting point of the last election-driven rally. It is when the Trump trade rally began in November, making it a rather important technical and psychological area for the market. Adding to its significance, the 200-day moving average also aligns with this area. Where the index goes from here will be crucial for the near-term outlook. With the daily RSI dipping to near 30, the index is no longer overbought and is approaching slightly oversold levels, at least on the daily and lower time frames anyway. The Weekly RSI is below 50 and the monthly is now no longer at overbought threshold of 70 and above. Therefore, the Nasdaq is in the buy-the-dip zone for bullish traders. The key question now is whether buyers will step in to halt this short-term bearish reversal. Should the bulls regain control, we could see a rebound toward at least highs of around 20,700. The 20,700 area now marks the starting point of a key resistance range that extends to 20,985ish. The lower end of this 20,700-20985 range was formerly support on multiple occasions in December, while the upper end was an old all-time high from July 2024. This range, which has been defended by the bears in the last couple of days, represents the most important and first key resistance zone. A clean move above it would mark a bullish reversal, potentially opening the door for a broader recovery in the coming days. On the other hand, if selling pressure persists and the index breaks below the abovementioned support zone of 20,000-20,385 area, it could trigger a deeper correction—one we haven’t seen in the past couple of years. Amazon, Oracle, Tesla and MicroStrategy Also Testing 200 MA Among the individual stocks testing – and responding – to their respective 200-day moving averages, include Amazon, Oracle, Tesla and MicroStrategy. Amazon gapped lower on Tuesday only to find strong buying from the key 195 to 200 key support area, where prior resistance and support met the 200 MA. That was a nice bounce, but let’s whether fresh momentum will come into the stock or whether this was just a dead cat bounce. More price action is needed. Oracle (ORCL) will report earnings on March 10, so this is a stock worth watching closing. Last time it reported earnings in September, it gapped sharply higher and has since held above that gap, where it has established key support around the 155 area. Interestingly, the 200-day average has caught up with price and now comes in around 158 area, making the 155-158 zone a key technical area. So far, the stock has held support here, let’s see if it will continue to do so heading into its earnings release. MicroStrategy (MSTR) has bounced nicely off its 200 MA, with the support trend of a falling wedge continuation pattern further aiding the bounce within the key 225-240 support area. A potential break above the rising wedge resistance could signal a resumption of the long-term uptrend. For Tesla, the key area of support to watch is around 260-280, where it had previously found strong resistance in the past, before surging above it when Trump and his buddy Musk came to power. As it happens, the 200-day MA comes in within this key support area. We have seen a bit of a bounce here in the last couple of days, but let’s whether a clear bullish reversal emerges on this, and other stocks mentioned above – and indeed the Nasdaq itself. *** Disclaimer: This article is written for informational purposes only; it does not constitute a solicitation, offer, advice, counsel or recommendation to invest as such it is not intended to incentivize the purchase of assets in any way. 14. Mystery Blonde Woman Seated Next to Elon Musk at Trump’s Address Is Identified Mystery Blonde Woman Seated Next to Elon Musk at Trump’s Address Is Identified The blonde woman who went viral for a seemingly flirtatious interaction with Elon Musk at Donald Trump’s address to Congress on Wednesday night has been identified. The woman who was seated next to Musk is Heather Valentino, an aesthetician from Pennsylvania, her former employer told Newsweek. The mystery woman became the object of much speculation after a clip of the tech billionaire offering her a bottle of water, which she accepted, garnered nearly 5 million views on X. In the caption, the user who posted the clip joked that Musk had said, “Would you like some water and a baby?” “Elon is going to make number 15 tonight after the State of the Union,” the user added with a laughing emoji. Musk, 53, has fathered at least 14 children with four different women. He responded to the viral video around midday on Wednesday, posting just a laughing emoji. Musk has not otherwise addressed the situation publicly. Based on public records and her social media accounts, Valentino is a 53-year-old licensed aesthetician specializing in hydrafacials. She lives in Wexford, Pennsylvania. A security official tells Elon Musk that phone use is not allowed, after Musk took a picture with his phone ahead of Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress in the House Chamber of the US Capitol in Washington, DC, on March 4, 2025. / SAUL LOEB / AFP via Getty Images Records indicate that she has a son and a daughter, both in their 20s. Since 1996, she has been a registered Democrat. Valentino and her relatives did not respond to phone calls or messages on social media from the Daily Beast. An Instagram account apparently belonging to her daughter was set to private after the Daily Beast sent a direct message. A coworker of Valentino at Beautox Aesthetics near Pittsburg told The Daily Mail that she didn’t know Musk prior to that night, despite much online speculation to the contrary. The pair, despite being seated side by side, were separated by a railing. “She was just there watching [the speech],” the spa’s office manager, named Diana, said on Wednesday. “It’s funny, because it looked like they were together, but they weren’t… They do not know each other… I’m sure they met there.” Elon Musk stands as he is recognized by Donald Trump during his address to a joint session of Congress at the US Capitol in Washington, DC, on March 4, 2025. / JIM WATSON / AFP via Getty Images A constituent’s attendance at a presidential address like Trump’s on Tuesday is often arranged through a political representative. The Daily Beast reached out to the offices of both Valentino’s senator and congressman, but has not heard back at the time of publication. Speculation about Musk’s connection to the woman ran rampant on social media in part due to the billionaire’s lengthy history of controversial romantic relationships. He is currently embroiled in a high-profile legal spat with Ashley St. Clair, a 26-year-old far-right influencer who last month publicly claimed she had given birth to Musk’s child—but who says that he is now refusing to acknowledge the situation. Previously, Musk was involved with the singer Grimes, with whom he shares three children. Last month, Grimes publicly begged Musk to respond to her about one of their children’s “medical crisis.” Last week, Musk welcomed his fourth child with Shivon Zilis, an executive at the Musk-owned Neuralink. The baby boy’s name is unique: Seldon Lycurgus. Zilis shared the news on X. 17. Jason Gillespie calls Pakistan head coach Aaqib Javed ‘a clown’ Jason Gillespie calls Pakistan head coach Aaqib Javed ‘a clown’ Former Pakistan Test head coach Jason Gillespie has called his successor Aaqib Javed “a clown” and accused him of undermining him and former white-ball coach Gary Kirsten in order to take over their roles. Gillespie and Kirsten were appointed to their respective positions in April 2024 but both resigned and were replaced by Aaqib before the end of the year. Gillespie’s comments were in response to a social media post containing quotes from Aaqib, who attributed Pakistan’s recent poor form to a lack of continuity around selectors and coaches. Pakistan crashed out of the Champions Trophy in the group stage without a win. Speaking on Tuesday, Aaqib said: “We changed 16 coaches in the last two-and-a-half years and 26 selectors. “If you do this to any team in the world, their performance would be the same.” Replying on social media, Gillespie said: “This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes, campaigning to be the coach in all formats. He is a clown.” Ex-South Africa batter Kirsten spent just six months as white-ball head coach before resigning in October. Former Australia fast bowler Gillespie took interim charge during the white-ball tour of Australia in his absence, winning the one-day series but losing the T20 series, before Aaqib took permanent charge. Gillespie, who signed a two-year deal with the Pakistan Cricket Board last April, resigned as Test head coach in December, shortly after being removed from Pakistan’s selection panel during the Test series against England. With their families watching on from Brisbane while awaiting the arrival of Cyclone Alfred, the Broncos ensured their trip to Sydney was a worthwhile one by underlining their premiership credentials. They had to head straight back to Queensland via charter flight after fulltime on Thursday but left Allianz Stadium having sent a resounding warning to the rest of the competition. Maguire’s men were brutal up front, creative in attack and patient in their build-up play on Thursday. It was everything the Roosters were not. Trent Robinson’s side became the first this year to concede 50 points, a stat which has historically meant it is impossible to go on and win the premiership. Robinson has insisted his side is not in a rebuilding phase and this year won’t be a slow burn. But given they have lost 953 games of NRL experience over the off-season, and considering their trial form and this season opener, the Roosters appear in for a torrid campaign. And they could be about to lose more experience, with Victor Radley badly concussed in the first half and having no chance to face Penrith next week. The Roosters’ Angus Crichton was placed on report for a late shot on Brisbane’s Ben Hunt. It looked as though pre-season talk of the Roosters’ demise had been exaggerated when they raced into a lead after just six minutes. Young centre Rob Toia rampaged his way through the Broncos on the Roosters’ right edge before sending English Test winger Dom Young over in the corner. But when Radley went off for a head injury assessment, things quickly unravelled. Brisbane were quick to react, toying with the edge where Radley would have been defending to send Jesse Arthars down the touchline to set up Gehamat Shibasaki waiting on the inside. It lit a spark inside the Broncos, as Payne Haas began to lead the charge for Maguire’s men. The big prop racked up 145m, 11 tackle busts and three offloads – one after a bullocking run down the middle which gave hooker Cory Paix the chance to slide in. Haas’s front-row partner Patrick Carrigan was next to turn provider, finding a hard-running Jack Gosiewski near the Roosters’ line, before an Adam Reynolds penalty made it 20-4 at halftime. Rather than take their foot off the pedal, Brisbane found an extra gear and brutally exposed the Roosters’ shortcomings. Too often, Robinson’s men were second to the ball. Nobody really made an attempt to deal with kicks ahead by Deine Mariner and Reynolds as they set up Selwyn Cobbo for his first of three tries for the evening. Reynolds was allowed space to grubber kick to the in-goal for Cobbo’s second, and on his return for the Broncos, Hunt finished a razzle-dazzle try that went through 10 sets of hands. Sandon Smith and Young clawed back tries for the Roosters but Arthars, Reece Walsh and Cobbo – who took the Broncos beyond the 50-point mark – ensured an emphatic start at Red Hill for Maguire. 19. Last-minute AMD RX 9070 XT stock rumors are making me hopeful for a much better launch than Nvidia’s RTX 5000 GPUs – with just one snag Last-minute AMD RX 9070 XT stock rumors are making me hopeful for a much better launch than Nvidia’s RTX 5000 GPUs – with just one snag A *** retailer has a lot of stock of RDNA 4 GPUs ready for launch, likely reflecting the wider global picture for availability That includes 4,000+ models, half of which are Sapphire graphics cards While the MSRPs are nicely pitched in the ***, which is encouraging, this won’t hold – it’s just for an initial few hundred models (subsidized by AMD) AMD’s RX 9070 XT goes on ***** later today and there are more rumors about stock levels being relatively robust – and certainly way exceeding what Nvidia has managed to muster with its RTX 5000 GPUs. Overclockers *** (OCUK) is a major retailer in that country and has a lot of RX 9070 XT models in stock, particularly of the Sapphire Pulse model. Ready to ship to happy customers pic.twitter.com/ih1rdend8SMarch 4, 2025 Indeed, Adrian Thompson, who is global senior VP of marketing at Sapphire, teased a photo of OCUK’s warehouse on X, as you can see above, featuring a ‘Borg Cube’ built from Sapphire Pulse RX 9070 XT GPUs. And to the doubters on X, as flagged by VideoCardz, OCUK actually replied to confirm that this is a solid cube of graphics cards (meaning the middle isn’t hollow, there are boxes all the way through), and that it has over 1,000 units of just this one Sapphire model. The retailer notes: “In fact we have so much stock we could build an armada of Borg Cubes pretty much out of every model we have and from all brands, we have several thousand cards in stock spanning across Sapphire, PowerColor and ASRock all of which have 1,000+ in stock of each brand.” Further on in that thread, OCUK confirms that it has about 2,000 units of RDNA 4 GPUs from Sapphire in stock, along with 1,000 from both PowerColor and ASRock, so that’s around 4,000+ for just one *** retailer. I assume that’s across both RX 9070 XT and vanilla 9070 models. The scenario expected is that this will be enough to go around, and the retailer believes “stock will be fine for a few days,” so this should not be a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it graphics card launch. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. There’s even better news in that the MSRPs are lower than I expected too, and the mentioned Sapphire Pulse model of the RX 9070 XT is initially listed (at the time of writing, a few hours before launch) at £570. The RX 9070 starts from £525 with the entry-level graphics cards, too, so this is very promising – but there’s a catch. OCUK observes that this MSRP price will only hold for the first few hundred units of each board sold, and that: “MSRP is capped quantity of a few hundred, so prices will jump once those are sold through.” (Image credit: Future / John Loeffler) Analysis: Plentiful stock, but expect MSRP boards to disappear quickly On the whole, this is good news for availability, and the prospect that AMD’s RX 9070 models are not going to immediately sell out. And yes, this might be only a single *** retailer, but it likely reflects wider availability to a large extent – rumors thus far have indicated this is indeed the case. We’ve heard that RDNA 4 graphics cards will have something like a normal quantity of launch units from various sources now, so the overall picture is hopeful. Perhaps it will indeed be the case that, as suggested here, AMD’s RX 9070 models won’t immediately sell out, as Nvidia’s Blackwell GPUs most certainly have – and many more punters will get a chance to buy these products. At what price, though, is the question, and you may be wondering: how come OCUK is only selling the first few hundred boards at MSRP? It’s because AMD will be giving retailers a discount on buying an initial quantity of GPUs, to effectively help ensure that there’s some stock at the official MSRP come launch time. Remember, there are no reference RX 9070 graphics cards being made by AMD itself, that are guaranteed to be at MSRP, so consumers are entirely reliant on third-party pricing here. (In short, this is Team Red’s way of guaranteeing some MSRP stock). For the RX 9070 XT, I was expecting an asking price of close to £600 in the ***, so the fact that the £570 MSRP price tag is going to rise after an initial quantity of GPUs has sold through is not really a surprise. It’ll likely end up at £600, or maybe even a bit higher given OCUK’s use of the word ‘jump’ which doesn’t sound like a trivial increase. As for the RTX 5070, which went on ***** yesterday, that graphics card panned out just as the gloomy rumors of limited stock predicted – it sold out in a flash. Even Nvidia itself has delayed its Founders Edition, which missed the on-***** date of yesterday, March 5, and now won’t be arriving until later in the month. OCUK didn’t get any RTX 5070 stock at all before the launch, and only expected some “small quantities of limited SKUs” to arrive on the actual on-***** day. All in all, it seems pretty hopeless for would-be RTX 5070 buyers, though as we point out in our review – this isn’t a great graphics card, anyway. Mind you, that very fact could stoke AMD’s RX 9070 sales – we loved the RX 9070 XT, as you may have seen – which means that even a relatively solid allocation of supply could sell out quicker than expected. Anyhow, there’ll be a lot of eyes on this RDNA 4 launch, which is now imminent. 21. Evercore ISI names Amazon a top pick, says AI will boost the stock going forward Evercore ISI names Amazon a top pick, says AI will boost the stock going forward Investors are underestimating the boost artificial intelligence will give to Amazon , according to Evercore ISI. Analyst Mark Mahaney named Amazon his new large-cap top pick, saying that the megacap tech stock appears attractively valued after its recent slide. The analyst shifted the online retailer to the No. 1 position, while moving Uber to No. 2. “Shares traded off on the Q4 print, but we viewed that as an Expectations Correction and not a Fundamentals correction,” Mahaney wrote on Wednesday. “We are also focused on two new product catalysts with the pending Alexa+ and Kuiper launches, and we believe there is an opportunity for a material narrative shift (to the positive) for AMZN as an excellent thematic play on robotization and on AI Cloud services, with the potential for Gen AI workloads to drive an acceleration in AWS revenue in H2:25,” Mahaney said. AMZN 1D mountain Amazon Amazon shares have underperformed this year, falling more than 5%, along with the overall Magnificent Seven trade. Investor optimism in the megacap hyperscalers dimmed given the high valuations and after the release of DeepSeek prompted fears of greater competition in the sector. The analyst’s $210 price target represents just a marginal increase from Wednesday’s close of $208.36 for the stock. What’s more, in its Feb. 6 earnings report, Amazon issued disappointing guidance for the current quarter. Since then, the stock is down more than 12%. Still, Mahaney remains a believer in large-cap internet companies after the latest earnings season for three reasons. He said the “Return on Artificial Intelligence” story is starting to bear out, on top of the strength of overall demand trends among internet companies, as well as continued cost-cutting in the sector, that will boost margins. “The substantial number of successful AI deployment datapoints – successful in boosting engagement, monetization, cost efficiencies, etc. – suggests that the ROAI is proving out,” Mahaney wrote. In Amazon’s case, he noted, its Amazon Web Services’ AI business is now a multi-billion dollar revenue run rate business that’s growing three times faster than its Cloud business did at the same stage. Additionally, AI-driven automation is improving cost to serve at its most advanced distribution sector, he said. 24. Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975 headline Glastonbury fest Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975 headline Glastonbury fest Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975 are to headline Glastonbury. The 22-year-old pop star will take to the Pyramid stage at the annual Worthy Farm weekend festival on Sunday June 29, while the rock band will headline on the Friday. Meanwhile Charli XCX, who recently won five BRIT Awards at the annual music ceremony, will take to the stage on the second day and top the bill on the second stage on the Saturday. Alanis Morissette, Noah Kahan, Gracie Abrams, Lola Young and US rap star Doechi, will all make their debuts at the prestigious events, while acts such as Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, Fatboy Slim, Loyle Carner and Scissor Sisters will all make a comeback. Neil Young was previously announced as headlining the Saturday night, while Rod Stewart will hone the coveted legends slot, previously taken by the likes of Diana Ross, Kylie Minogue and Elton John. In a message alongside a poster of the billing, Glastonbury organisers wrote on Instagram: “Here is the first Glastonbury Festival 2025 line-up poster. Many more acts and attractions still to be announced.” In 2022, Good 4 U hitmaker Olivia was joined at the festival by Lily Allen where they performed a rendition of the politically-charged track F*** You on the Other stage. The 1975 – which consists of Matty Healy, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald, and George Daniel – first performed at Glastonbury in 2014 and returned again in 2016. It was recently confirmed that once the 2025 festival has finished, it will not return in 2026 in order to give the land “a rest”. Organiser Emily Eavis, whose farmer father Michael started the festival in 1970, told The Sun: “(It will) give the land a rest. The festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan, because you almost have to fit two years into one. “We’re already in talks with some acts for it. 25. 802.11 standards: How do 802.11ac, 802.11ax, 802.11be differ? 802.11 standards: How do 802.11ac, 802.11ax, 802.11be differ? Wireless standards documents can be hundreds of pages long and fraught with technical details. But the important highlights generally boil down to a short list of talking points that differentiate one standard from its predecessor. The latest Wi-Fi standard is 802.11be, also known as Wi-Fi 7. It’s worth comparing the new standard to its predecessors, 802.11ac and 802.11ax, known as Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6, respectively. The 802.11be standard surpasses its predecessors in speeds, bandwidth capacity, data rates and more. This article compares 802.11ac and 802.11ax with 802.11be to outline the important differences among the three specifications. 802.11ac vs. 802.11ax vs. 802.11be: Key differences The 802.11 standards — 802.11ac, 802.11ax and 802.11be — differ in the following capabilities: Frequency bands. Spatial streams. Maximum data rates. Modulation. Frequency bands Both 802.11ac and 802.11ax support dual-band access points (APs). Although the term dual-band AP implies it can transmit signals from two frequency bands, 802.11ac mainly uses the 5 gigahertz (GHz) band. It can use the 2.4 GHz band, but this reflects a much older standard — namely, 802.11n. The 802.11ax standard can provide both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The newer 802.11be specification, however, promises to exceed both standards. While 802.11ax can provide both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, 802.11be aims to go a step further to support the 6 GHz band as well. The differences among the frequency bands of 802.11ac, 802.11ax and 802.11be are as follows: 802.11ac operates only in the 5 GHz band. 802.11ax works in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. 802.11be uses the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands. Spatial streams The standards also differ in how many spatial streams they can support. Although the 802.11ac and 802.11ax standards could hypothetically support up to eight spatial streams, the hardware market stagnated at four. Most compatible APs and devices can’t support more than four spatial streams in either specification. The spatial streams of 802.11ac and 802.11ax are capped at half their theoretical capacity. Their successor, 802.11be, could potentially offer up to 16 spatial streams. Maximum data rates Due to hardware limitations, the 802.11ac standard never got close to delivering its maximum potential data rate of 6.9 Gbps. Its successor, 802.11ax, could deliver a higher theoretical maximum rate of 9.6 Gbps, but most users can’t achieve those speeds in real-world situations. The 802.11be standard promises to offer a significantly higher maximum of 46 Gbps. The large increase in 802.11be’s projected data rates is thanks to its significant advancements over its predecessors. A well-designed Wi-Fi network typically provides better data rates at the same ranges and power levels as the technology teams are replacing. Essentially, users can expect better quality with the latest standard. Compare 802.11ac, 802.11ax and 802.11be. Modulation All three specifications use quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), a technique that determines the amount of data transmission each standard can support. Each new specification release experienced significant jumps in QAM capabilities: 802.11ac: 256 QAM. 802.11ax: 1024 QAM. 802.11be: 4096 QAM. This increased modulation of 802.11be enables the standard to use more spectrum for data transfer and less for management. Areas in which 802.11be improved include the following: Increased bandwidth. Advanced modulation. Multilink operation. Compare 802.11 standards Other significant developments among 802.11ac, 802.11ax and 802.11be include the following: Orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA). Both 802.11ax and 802.11be primarily use OFDMA, which lets an AP service multiple wireless clients at different bandwidth requirements simultaneously. The 802.11ac standard supports the legacy orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing modulation method. Low power consumption. The 802.11ax specification included a new battery-preserving power-save methodology aimed at IoT devices. The 802.11be standard continues to reduce power consumption through features like Target Wake Time. Performance improvements. Compared with 802.11ac, both 802.11ax and 802.11be include bidirectional improvements in multiuser multiple input, multiple output radio processes. The 802.11be specification improves further with greater network capacity, faster speeds and improved bandwidth support. Basic service set (BSS) coloring. Both 802.11ax and 802.11be include a feature called BSS coloring, which deals with co-channel interference. Despite their improvements, 802.11ac and 802.11be have no effective way to deal with interference from neighboring cells on the same channel, which can translate into reduced performance. BSS coloring adds a field to the wireless frame that overcomes issues associated with same-frequency cell coexistence, which increases overall capacity. Editor’s note: This article was updated to include information about 802.11be. Lee Badman is a network architect specializing in wireless and cloud technologies for a large private university. He’s also an author and frequent presenter at industry events.
