Apple must allow app sideloading in Brazil within 90 days, judge orders
Apple must allow app sideloading in Brazil within 90 days, judge orders
Brazil has ordered Apple to allow users to bypass the App Store and sideload apps within 90 days, according a report in Valor Econômico seen by 9to5Mac. The new ruling follows similar orders issued in Europe and elsewhere that were referenced by the Brazilian court. “[Apple] has already complied with similar obligations in other countries, without demonstrating a significant impact or irreparable damage to its business model,” wrote judge Pablo Zuniga.
Late last year, Brazil’s antitrust regulator CADE ordered Apple to allow users to download apps and make purchases from outside its App Store, with a 20-day deadline and fines for not complying. However, Apple appealed that ruling on the grounds that the changes would be too difficult to implement within the time frame. The court agreed, calling the injunction “disproportionate and unnecessary,” buying Apple more time but forcing it to face a public hearing in Brazil.
Following another appeal, this time by CADE, the court ordered Apple to allow sideloading and third-party app stores within the next three months or face fines.
The litigation was launched by the Latin American e-commerce firm Mercado Libre, which complained about developers being forced to pay hefty commissions through Apple’s App Store. That was followed later by other developers including Match and Epic Games.
An Apple spokesperson told Valor Econômico that it “believes in vibrant and competitive markets,” but said that the changes will “harm the privacy and security” of iOS users. Apple plans to appeal the decision.

United Airlines successfully installed Starlink on its first aircraft, and the promised speeds are up to 50 times faster
United Airlines successfully installed Starlink on its first aircraft, and the promised speeds are up to 50 times faster
United Airlines has installed Starlink on its first regional aircraft
The install time is just four days per aircraft versus 10+ days for other Wi-Fi systems
The airline expects to install Starlink on over 40 aircraft a month starting in May
Back in January, right ahead of the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show, United Airlines announced that it was speeding up its rollout and installation of Starlink across its fleet. It was good news as Grant Milstead, VP of Digital Technology for the airline, told us that it was “kind of enabling the living room in the sky experience.”
How? Well, once Starlink is installed on United Airline’s aircraft, the result is free, fast Wi-Fi while on the ground and in the air as long as you are a member of MileagePlus, which is free to join. United Airlines sped up its planned rollout by confirming that the first commercial flight was expected on an Embraer E175 in the spring and that its entire regional fleet would be covered by the end of the year. Its first mainline aircraft would also have Starlink installed by the end of the year.
Now United Airlines has successfully installed Starlink on its first regional aircraft, learned some new lessons, and confirmed some theories about what this process would look like. And for anyone who flies United Airlines, it’s great news as you’re one step closer to getting this stronger, more stable connection in the sky.
The most significant learning is that installing the Starlink antenna, the wiring, and the wireless access points inside the cabin of the aircraft is a lot less time-consuming than a typical antenna for traditional airline Wi-Fi. United says that it takes about eight hours to install the Starlink equipment, which is about 10 times faster than the current in-flight Wi-Fi equipment (though that eight-hour window doesn’t include de-installation or the testing equipment).
And here’s the best part for me as someone who tends to fly United Airlines, and for any others who do – you can expect Wi-Fi speeds up to 250Mbps on these regional aircraft, which is 50 times faster than current internet speeds. That means, when connected, you won’t have to worry about missing a text – even one with images – being able to browse the web, stream a show, or be productive and accomplish some work while cruising in the sky. I, for one, can’t wait to put that to the test.
Additionally, the Starlink antenna and corresponding equipment weigh 85 pounds and are electronically steered, which means no moving parts inside. That makes it easier to move, and less likely to need maintenance. It’s also a lot lighter (other antennas weigh upwards of 300 pounds) and United Airlines says it “means the aircraft requires less fuel to operate than with other inflight providers.”
The faster installation process also means the aircraft will be out of service for a shorter time. Currently, non-Starlink Wi-Fi installations for United take over 10 days, meaning the plane will not be flying for that *******. United Airlines expects the Starlink installation and testing to take just four days, and that includes removing the old equipment. Remember, it’s outside on the aircraft’s hull and inside under panels, where access points are located.
Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.
Here are the steps for the installation process as it stands for United Airlines regional aircraft:
Uninstall the existing Wi-Fi system.
Install the Starlink system, which consists of the main antenna, an internal reinforcement structure, wireless access points for the cabin, and a power supply.
The install team tests the whole system before and after closing the aircraft’s interior.
It’s clear that United Airlines is still operating on this sped-up schedule and is eager to get Starlink-powered internet to more passengers, starting with regional aircraft. It’s not a small set of flyers either – while United Airlines’ entire fleet is over 1,000 aircraft, the regional fleet is over 300 airplanes.
With one of those airplanes already done, United Airlines expects to install Starlink on over 40 aircraft a month starting in May before wrapping at the end of 2025. The goal is to cover all regional aircraft and then at least one mainline airplane.

Poco F7 Ultra With Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC Spotted on Geekbench AI
Poco F7 Ultra is expected to launch soon in select global markets alongside the Poco F7 Pro. The handsets are tipped to be rebranded versions of the Redmi K80 Pro and the base Redmi K80, respectively, which were unveiled in China in November 2024. The Ultra variant has now been spotted on the Geekbench AI benchmarking platform with Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Previous leaks suggested that both Pro and Ultra options of the Poco F7 lineup will likely not launch in India.
Poco F7 Ultra Geekbench AI Listing
The global variant of the Poco F7 Ultra with the model number Xiaomi 24122RKC7G has appeared on the Geekbench AI platform. It is listed with an Adreno 830 GPU and an octa-core Qualcomm chipset with six cores clocking at 3.53GHz and two prime cores at 4.32GHz, which corresponds with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
As per the listing, the Poco F7 Ultra scored 2,667 and 2,645 points on the single precision and half precision tests, respectively. The former indicates the AI computational power, while the latter suggests its capability of dealing with multiple AI workloads. Lastly, it has 4,866 points on the quantised test that measures the overall AI processing efficiency.
The Geekbench AI listing further suggests that the Poco F7 Ultra will support 16GB of RAM. It is expected to run on Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0 skin on top. If the phone is a rebrand of the Redmi K80 Pro as rumours suggest, then it will likely support up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage.
The Poco F7 Ultra may sport a 6.67-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 3,200 nits as well as HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. For optics, it could get a 50-megapixel OIS-supported main rear sensor alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel floating telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom. The phone could house a 20-megapixel selfie shooter as well. It may pack a 6,000mAh battery with 120W and 50W wireless charging support.

******* manufacturing plunges as country risks deep recession
******* manufacturing plunges as country risks deep recession
Friedrich Merz hopes to shake the country out of its economic slump – Axel Schmidt/Reuters
Germany’s embattled manufacturing industry faces a fresh slump after new orders plunged by 7pc between December and January.
Machinery orders dropped more than 10pc on the month, while “other transport equipment” – the category including planes, ships, trains and military vehicles – plunged by almost 18pc. Consumer goods also slid 2pc.
It marks a dire start to the year for an economy which shrank by 0.2pc last year, and which is menaced by the prospect of 25pc tariffs on sales of its goods to customers in the US, representing another threat to its export-focused model. Factory orders are now 11pc lower than in January 2020, on the eve of the Covid lockdowns.
The depth of the crunch underlines the scale of the challenge facing Friedrich Merz, who is expected to be the new chancellor after last month’s election, as he seeks to revitalise both the nation’s economy and its defence capabilities.
Mr Merz hopes to shake the country out of its economic slump and geopolitical malaise at a critical moment. The economy is still reeling from the war in Ukraine which exposed its industry’s over-reliance on cheap energy from Russia, and is struggling to cope with the flood of cheap electric cars from China which undercut its own automotive industry.
At the same time, Donald Trump’s decision to slash support for Ukraine’s defence emphasises the need for Europe’s largest economy to step up its military capabilities and production to provide more of the continent’s security both immediately and in the years to come.
Mr Merz’s plans for €500bn (£420bn) of investment and extra borrowing for defence spending represents “a paradigm shift in ******* fiscal policy”, said Evelyn Herrmann, of the Bank of America, which “meaningfully changes the medium-term economic outlook”.
She said: “Germany was facing a potential growth trajectory heading towards zero over coming years.”
The country is now likely to achieve growth of 1.5-2pc by 2027, according to Ms Hermann, or possibly even higher if the extra money is spent efficiently.
However, in the short term there are also threats from the plan.
Financial markets have responded to the additional borrowing with higher interest rates, which have a knock-on effect for the private sector and for other countries, including the ***, potentially taking the edge off any growth boost.
At the same time the combination of action in Europe and turmoil from America have pushed the dollar down and the euro up, which threatens to harm Germany’s factories further by making their products relatively more expensive in world markets.

Playstation Country – Turbo Overkill – PS5 Review
Michael Kitchin writes, “Turbo Overkill feels surprisingly dense. The shooting feels visceral and the movement at your disposal is very swift. Platforming can be a pain, especially on controller but the moments of frustration are worth toughing through. Massive Apple ***** live at Best Buy: get a MacBook Air for $699, Apple Watch for $299 and cheap AirPods
It’s been a busy week for Apple with several big announcements, including a new MacBook Air, iPad Air, standard iPad and Mac Studio. Best Buy is getting in on the excitement, too, by launching a huge Apple ***** that includes several lowest-ever prices on the manufacturer’s top-rated tech. I’ve picked out the 13 deals you need to see right here.
• See all this weekend’s Apple deals at Best Buy
The undeniable highlight is the MacBook Air 13-inch (M2) for a new record-low price of $699 (was $999). We considered this to be the best laptop in the world for a long time here at TechRadar until it was ousted by the newer M3 model. At this price, though, it’s unbeatable value for money if you need a powerful all-around laptop that boasts excellent performance, a slick design and impressive battery life.
Another deal I have to shout out is the Apple Watch Series 10 for $299 (was $399) – again, that’s the cheapest price it’s ever been. The latest Apple smartwatch is an excellent wearable that features all the health and fitness tracking features you need, and it’s an ideal companion if you own an iPhone to receive all of your notifications.
There are many more big savings on AirPods, iPads and AirTags, although not all of these are the lowest prices I’ve seen. Many come very close, though, so they are good deals to score during a relatively quiet time of the year for deals. Find all of the top offers below, and keep in mind this Apple ***** ends on Sunday.

Some main roads to revert to 30mph from 20mph

A review of the default lower speed limit was announced by the Welsh government following significant public backlash
The maximum speed limit on four busy roads in Cardiff will be changed back to 30mph from 20mph.
A review of the Welsh government’s 20mph speed limit was announced last year following a public backlash.
The 20mph speed limit, covering 37% of the Welsh road network, was brought in by the Welsh government in September 2023.
Cardiff council said the proposed changes should help ease congestion on main roads in and out of the city.
The local authority listened to views of residents, businesses and transport companies before making its decision.
More stretches of road are expected to revert to 30mph, especially those away from built-up areas.
Last month, it was announced that 50 stretches of road in Wrexham would revert to 20mph.
The council reviewed 192 roads, but many requests were not eligible due to various factors, including road characteristics and location.
The affected routes include sections of Newport Road, Ocean Way, Hadfield Road, and a small part of Western Avenue.
Cardiff council asked the public, bus companies, local councillors, MPs, Senedd members, and other city stakeholders on which roads should revert to 30mph and their reasons why.
It received 933 requests to revert the speed limit across 232 roads.
However, 40 roads were disqualified due to not having a 20mph limit or being outside Cardiff, and of the 192 roads reviewed, 178 received fewer than 10 requests.
Excalibur Drive, in north Cardiff received the most requests – 207 from 26 residents, but it did not qualify, as it surrounds numerous properties and community facilities.
The roads that will revert back to 30mph are:
Newport Road: All of Newport Road – except for a section of carriageway which runs outside St Illtyd’s Catholic School.Western Avenue: A small section of this road west of the ***** River Bridge and to the junction with Cardiff Road/Llandaff Road.Ocean Way: From its junction with Beignon Close to Rover WayHadfield Road: Between the junction with Leckwith Road and Penarth Road. Getty Images
20mph limits were applied to 13,000km, or more than 8,000 miles, of Welsh roads in September 2023
Mr De’Ath added that the 20mph policy reduces traffic-related casualties and encourages walking and cycling, and said the speed limit will remain in areas with high pedestrian and cyclist activity unless evidence proved higher speeds were safe.
“This approach balances the need for efficient traffic flow with the safety and well-being of all road users,” he said.
The selected roads will return to 30mph following a legally required Traffic Regulation Process.

Jefferies upgrades this furniture retailer that can soar more than 40%
Furniture and home goods retailer Wayfair has several “green shoots” to power the stock higher, according to Jefferies. The firm upgraded shares to buy from hold in a Friday note, in addition to notching up its target price by $2 to $47. The new price target suggests shares rallying 42% from where they closed on Thursday. Shares are trading at the levels seen right after Covid-19 was declared a global pandemic in 2020 — even though Wayfair is 30% larger, with EBITDA nearly 10% higher, per analyst Jonathan Matuszewski. “With top-tier market share gains, a new paid loyalty program, compelling B2B traction, and underrated physical retail expansion, we have fresh optimism for EBITDA growth above the Street,” Matuszewski said. “We believe W’s current multiple overemphasizes lackluster industry growth and fails to appropriately credit consistent share gains.” Matuszewski added that year-over-year increases in existing home sales indicates a recent housing momentum in the U.S.— which he expects will result in a tailwind as demand for home goods increases. Wayfair’s newly-launched paid loyalty program is a driver of EBITDA margins even if home sales stall, according to the analyst. Shares popped more than 3% in the premarket after the upgrade. The stock is trading more than 25% lower year to date, and it’s down 44.7% over the last 12 months. W YTD mountain Wayfair in 2025 Analysts are split on the stock. LSEG data shows that 16 of 36 rate it as a buy or strong buy, while the remaining 20 have a hold rating.

Buying a good graphics card is an expensive mess
Buying a good graphics card is an expensive mess
It’s been a weird time to dip into graphics cards, GPUs and… another synonym for the GeForces and Radeons of this world.
AMD has tried for a while to undercut NVIDIA with slightly cheaper but less capable video cards — but this time, with the , it might have got the recipe right, especially in 4K and ray tracing performance.
Devindra Hardawar says the $599 Radeon 9070 XT, in particular, is a solid midrange GPU with excellent support for 1440p gaming and a bit of 4K. It has better ray tracing support than before, it’s faster than the plain Radeon 9070 and it finally has AI upscaling built in too. Not to mention, NVIDIA’s landed around the same time.
It’s a good strategy — better than fighting with NVIDIA at the extreme high end of GPUs. It makes more sense for AMD to focus on cards people can actually buy — if you can.
It’s a good time to look closer at that too. “Buy.” Hah! The gaming PC makers and people who need high-powered machines for their work know this already — it’s a mess.
Not only is it impossible to find NVIDIA’s 50 series GPU in stock, but as Igor Bonifacic , nearly every single model is way above NVIDIA’s suggested price. This isn’t a pandemic thing anymore, this isn’t a crypto thing anymore (although that’s stoked demand, of course).
It’s like Taylor Swift tickets or a PS5 disc drive when the PS5 Pro broke cover — it’s scalpers and opportunism from the middle-man companies that make the majority of GPUs out there.

AMD grabs a share of the GPU market from Nvidia as GPU shipments rise slightly in Q4
AMD grabs a share of the GPU market from Nvidia as GPU shipments rise slightly in Q4
Shipments of standalone GPUs for desktop PCs increased slightly in the final quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter but declined by over a million units compared to the same quarter in 2023, according to Jon Peddie Research. However, the market for graphics add-in boards (AIBs) for desktops rebounded quite significantly in 2024 compared to the previous year. While AMD managed to grab a chunk of Nvidia’s market share in Q4 2024, sales of its standalone GPUs for desktops dropped to a historic low for the whole year.
A modest quarter
The industry shipped 8.4 million discrete graphics boards for desktop PCs in Q4 2024, up from 8.1 million in the previous quarter but down from 9.5 million units, according to JPR. Nvidia allegedly reallocated some of its production capacity from client GPUs to datacenter GPUs, which is why its shipments contracted both sequentially and year over year to around 6.89 million units in the fourth quarter. By contrast, AMD managed to increase sales of its Radeon graphics cards for desktops to 1.43 million units, its strongest result of 2024. However, it was still lower than the 1.81 million shipped in Q4 2023.
(Image credit: Jon Peddie Research/Tom’s Hardware)
As a result of constrained production capacity, Nvidia lost around 8% of the discrete desktop GPU market in the final quarter of 2024, while AMD gained approximately 7% and Intel gained around 1.2%, according to Jon Peddie Research. Nvidia still dominated the market with an 82% share, but AMD commanded 17% of shipments, which was a positive outcome for the company.

As demand for graphics cards exceeded supply in the fourth quarter, and because both AMD and Nvidia delayed the volume ramp-up of their latest products to 2025, suppliers ended the quarter with a solid ****** of pending orders heading into the first quarter of 2025, setting the stage for an unusually strong shipment volume during that *******, according to Jon Peddie Research. However, with new tariffs set to take effect in the second quarter, the usual seasonal decline in desktop AIB shipments in Q2 could be even steeper unless some of the backlog carries over.

A good year (but not for AMD)
While the fourth quarter of 2024 was modest for standalone graphics AIBs for desktops due both to Nvidia supply constraints and the postponed ramp-up of the GeForce RTX 50 and Radeon RX 9000 series to 2025, the entire year 2024 was rather good for discrete desktop GPUs.
The industry shipped 34.7 million graphics AIBs for desktops in 2024, up from around 31 million in 2023 but down from nearly 38 million in 2022, according to JPR. However, keep in mind that there were no major product launches last year, and only Nvidia refreshed its lineup with several GeForce RTX 40 Super models.

For the whole year, Nvidia shipped 30.2 million discrete GPUs for desktops, which was a significant increase from 2023 and aligned with its results in 2022, based on data from Jon Peddie Research. By contrast, AMD shipped 4.42 million standalone graphics processors for desktop PCs, marking the company’s worst result ever.

Given continued constraints of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series shipments in the first quarter of 2023, it remains to be seen whether AMD manages to sustain its market share and increase its shipments compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.

South *********** woman has a new multi-millionaire after miraculous lotto win bags her $3.3 million
A beachside Adelaide woman spent almost three weeks unaware that she had won $3.3 million.
The Christie Downs winner had bought a lotto ticket from Colonnades Newsagency, and held one of the six division one winning entries in the national draw on 15 February.
The winning numbers were 18, 41, 8, 19, 31 and 43, while the supplementary numbers were 9 and 11.
But the Adelaide resident only remembered to check her ticket three weeks later, and was shocked to discover she had pocketed $3,333,333.34.
“I found out a few days ago and I was overwhelmed to say the least. I couldn’t believe my eyes,” the Adelaide resident told Lott Official.
“I haven’t got much sleep since I found out!”
“It’s wonderful — it took a little longer for me to check my ticket, so I had no idea pretty much this whole time.
“I was just going ‘It’s not true. It’s not true.’ I just sat on it and sat on it until it sunk in.
She said she planned to spoil her family with the winnings.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for me to help my family. That’s what matters.
“That’s always what’s most important. Helping others and looking after family members.”

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison claims AI-RAN first for Southeast Asia
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison claims AI-RAN first for Southeast Asia
The latest proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the telecommunications industry has landed in Indonesia, with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat) announcing what it calls a “landmark” initiative to deploy an AI-based radio access network (RAN) infrastructure across the country.
Indosat, which is regarded as a frontrunner in AI-driven comms, has the stated vision to become the preferred digital telecommunications company in Indonesia. Together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, Indosat provides cellular services, ICT solutions, datacentres and fibre-to-the-home (FTTH), electronic payment services, financial services and other digital services.
The AI-RAN announcement sees it become the first operator in Southeast Asia and the third globally to build a commercial AI-RAN network, enabling the convergence of AI and wireless connectivity to enhance performance and efficiency, and unlock new opportunities across industries.
This initiative aligns with Indonesia’s national AI strategy, positioning Indosat as both a connectivity provider and an AI service enabler. Indosat has built a sovereign AI factory in Indonesia to enable enterprises, startups and government entities to create local AI applications across healthcare, education and agriculture. With the new AI-RAN infrastructure, the company plans to serve AI inferencing needs and supercharge the AI ecosystem for more than 277 million people.
The project is being made possible by working with Nokia and Nvidia with the parties having entered into an memorandum of understanding to develop, test and deploy the AI-RAN solution, with an initial focus on bringing AI inferencing workloads on Nvidia AI Aerial, followed by the integration of RAN workloads on the same platform. The integration also brings together Nokia’s 5G Cloud RAN solution and the Nvidia AI Aerial platform to create a unified accelerated computing infrastructure for hosting AI and RAN workloads.
The deployment will follow a phased approach, starting with the establishment of a 5G AI-RAN lab in Surabaya in early 2025 for joint development, testing and validation. A small-scale commercial pilot of AI inferencing workloads running on Nvidia AI-RAN infrastructure is planned in the second half of 2025. Further expansion of this solution deployment will happen in 2026.
As part of this initiative, Indosat, Nokia and Nvidia will work with leading Indonesian universities and research institutions to drive AI-RAN development. This collaboration will also support academic programmes to boost AI innovation in comms applications and provide hands-on opportunities for students and researchers to contribute to next-generation AI-powered networks. By engaging with academia, the companies are looking to accelerate breakthroughs in AI-driven network optimisation, spectral efficiency and energy consumption.
Indosat will use the Nvidia AI Enterprise software platform and serverless application programming interfaces (APIs) to enable optimised inferencing for an array of applications and AI workload distribution across central and distributed infrastructure, and allow the operator to bring AI capabilities to every application. The serverless API capabilities, built with Nvidia, will enable Indosat AI application partners – including Hippocratic.ai, Personal.ai, GoTo and Accenture – to use distributed inference engines to provide AI tokens at scale ensuring a more consistent experience.
Ultimately, the tech firms believe the approach they take will enable Indosat to revolutionise its network capabilities and business model, and that by sharing infrastructure costs across multiple applications, Indosat can maximise its return on investment while unlocking new revenue streams through a wide range of AI-driven services. Moreover, they are confident the deployment will achieve transformative gains in network performance, spectral efficiency and energy consumption, setting the stage for a software-driven 6G upgrade.
Commenting on the project and what he believes the operator can gain, Vikram Sinha, president director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said: “This collaboration marks a transformative milestone for Indonesia’s telecommunications industry. By embedding AI into our radio access network, we’re not just enhancing connectivity – we’re building a nationwide AI-powered ecosystem that will fuel innovation across industries. This aligns seamlessly with our mission to connect and empower every Indonesian.”

Tiny Gov Agency Blocks DOGE Goons From Building in Heated Standoff
Tiny Gov Agency Blocks DOGE Goons From Building in Heated Standoff
One of the smallest government agencies stood strong this week, blocking a team of Elon Musk’s DOGE goons from entering their office and firing them.
Staffers at U.S. African Development Foundation, which has a budget of just $40 million or so, for over an hour Wednesday fended off a team of young men demanding entry, The Washington Post reported.
The group, which was joined by Pete Marocco, the State Department official tasked with slashing foreign aid, threatened to return the following day with U.S. marshals, unnamed USADF employees told the Post.
A snippet of the tense standoff was caught on video and posted to X by a ProPublica reporter with permission of the USADF staff involved. It shows two backpack-wearing young men facing off with older men in suits.
The DOGE youngsters showed up around noon on Wednesday, while the agency’s approximately 30 employees were working in the office, according to the Post.
A security officer called the office to let them know that two “very young men” were asking to be let in. The pair offered the explanation that they were USADF staff who did not have key cards.
The staff in the office told security not to let them up, as the description matched with DOGE staffers who had already shown up at the agency to make an introduction.
USADF officials told the Post that they were aware that DOGE was aiming to dismantle their agency and felt it was their final chance from blocking Musk’s goons from accessing their system. A USADF official with firsthand knowledge of the purpose of the meeting confirmed that it was to fire the employees.
USADF’s chief, Ward Brehm, was not in the office on Wednesday. But employees were aware of a letter he had sent to DOGE making the team aware that he was not allowing ad-hoc meetings without his attendance.
“In my absence, I have specifically instructed the staff of USADF to adhere to our rules and procedure of not allowing any meetings of this type without my presence,” he wrote.

With the young men threatening to call the U.S. marshals, the security team let them into the building. However, when they reached USADF’s floor, nobody would let them into the office.
The baby-faced DOGE staffers proceeded to wander the halls—while USADF’s employees kept working at their desks—until they finally left around an hour after arriving at the building.
As they departed, though, they threatened to return on Thursday with U.S. marshals. Around midday on Thursday, the same ProPublica reporter who a shared a video of the confrontation, Brett Murphy, posted that DOGE and Marocco had returned.
So far, it’s not clear whether the redoubled effort was successful.
Since Trump’s inauguration, Musk has railed against foreign aid and pushed to end many programs at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
USADF is much smaller, with just around 50 employees. Since being established by an legislation in 1980, it has sought to invest in and otherwise support activities that benefit underserved African communities.
Unlike other of the foreign aid organizations targeted by Musk, the agency is operated by a board of directors, who oversee its CEO and president—a role currently filled by Brehm.
A White House spokesperson told the Post, “Entitled bureaucrats like Ward Brehm are only demonstrating why independent agencies must be held accountable to officials elected by the American people.”
An USADF official told the Post that they don’t have to take orders from Marocco because it’s “explicit in the statute that the agency can only be dissolved by an act of Congress.”

Astral Takers is a new Kemco-published JRPG now in pre-registration for Android
Astral Takers is a new Kemco-published JRPG now in pre-registration for Android
Astral Takers is the newest JRPG from publisher Kemco
It’s currently available for pre-registration on Google Play
Try it for free before buying when it releases!
Another day ending with Y, and it’s another Kemco release as the classic RPG publisher has put its latest upcoming launch, Astral Takers, into pre-registration on Google Play! This JRPG journey boasts all the conventions of the genre, complete with a strange but imaginative story.
Astral Takers sees you playing as the young summoner Revyse, whose training under the master Volgrim is interrupted by the appearance of a strange amnesiac girl called Aurora. To protect her from the Empire which regards her as a witch you’ll have to make use of summoning to bring heroes from other worlds to fight alongside you!
Like all of Kemco’s releases, Astral Takers is a classic JRPG in both the good and the bad ways. On the one hand, you have a density of plot and epic battles as you level up your characters to truly staggering epochs of power. On the other, that density of plot can get in the way, and if an animesque art style puts you off then this certainly isn’t for you.
Onto the Astral plane
At the same time, Kemco’s releases tend to be of a pretty decent quality. Final Fantasy this ain’t, but as far as budget releases go you could do a lot worse. And with the ability to try out a free demo of each of their releases (Astral Takers being no different) there’s not really much to lose by giving it a try-before-you-buy.
In the meantime, while you’re waiting for Astral Takers to properly launch you may find yourself at a bit of a loose end. If so, why not occupy your time with some of the new launches that we’ve collated in our latest list of the top five new mobile games to try this week? Featuring big names and hidden gems from virtually every genre.

Collierville restaurant cooperating with authorities after woman’s death
Collierville restaurant cooperating with authorities after woman’s death
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — WREG Investigators have been digging deeper to answer questions loved ones and the community continues to ask about a mother who was found dead in a large retention pond in East Shelby County.
Thursday, the Collierville restaurant where Kristen Fundo’s husband said she was meeting a friend said they are cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said early Saturday morning, their diving team found Fundo’s body in a SUV submerged in the retention pond off Grays Mill Drive, in the back of a neighborhood off Walnut Grove.

Her husband told Your News Leader it was near a family member’s home and about seven miles from the restaurant where Fundo had been earlier Friday night.
Family releases more details about mom found dead in sunken car
Fundo had told him she was meeting a friend at Casa Mexicana in Collierville, and her husband said the bill shows she had two margaritas and food during the more than two-hour dinner.
He said he was out of the country, but his wife seemed fine when he talked to her around 7 p.m. He checked in about an hour later and saw her location near the pond.
Courtesy: SCSO
He showed us the series of text messages he then sent letting her know his brother would be “driving by that location to see if the truck is there.” An hour after that, he wrote, “I love you. I hope you’re ok. I’m panicking really bad.”
Collierville police stated Saturday evening someone filed a report about “possibly someone drugging them” on the same night, and at same restaurant, where Fundo and her friend were.
They wouldn’t give further details, nor would they say if it could be connected to Fundo’s fatal ******. They only stated, “We will not release reports while they are under investigation” and added it could be another “6 months or so.”
Multiple investigations, but few answers after mom’s fatal ****** into pond
Thursday, the manager of Casa Mexicana told Your News Leader they were deeply sorry to hear the news. While he wasn’t aware of the possible drugging report, he could confirm they are working and cooperating with authorities including the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission. A state spokesperson said they have opened an investigation.
SCSO said its investigation is ongoing too. While they didn’t see signs of foul play, an autopsy is being conducted. At this point, “an official cause of death hasn’t been determined.”
They said the vehicle in the pond was “implicated in an earlier hit and run.” We checked again Thursday, but they’ve yet to provide any further details.
The ****** report shows a rendering of the Fundo’s route. Her vehicle veered off the road and into the water. How and why she wound up there still remains unclear.
A family is now searching for answers. The grief unbearable.
Fundo was just 35 years old. She was a mother and wife. She was known for her kindness and endless love.
Her husband said a family member started a GoFundMe to help with ******** and other expenses. If you want to help, click here.
