  1. Putin Reaffirms Russian Territorial Claims Putin Reaffirms Russian Territorial Claims Vladimir Putin reiterated Russia’s territorial claims in Ukraine during a meeting with employees and beneficiaries of the “Defenders of the Fatherland” Foundation on March 6. Putin said, “We do not need anything foreign, but we will not give up what is ours,” according to an online translation. Valerievna Dorokhina, the wife of a Russian officer and mother of a soldier killed in June 2022, echoed this sentiment, saying “But only we must reach the end, we must not yield to anyone.” Credit: Kremlin via Storyful Video Transcript . , . . , . , . . . , , , , , , , , , , , , , . , , , , . . . , , . . . . . , . , , . 4. AFL: West *********** star Chad Warner kicks opening goal of 2025 season for Sydney Swans AFL: West *********** star Chad Warner kicks opening goal of 2025 season for Sydney Swans Burgeoning WA star and Sydney midfielder Chad Warner has shown why the Eagles and Dockers are so desperate to get their hands on him, booting the opening goal of the AFL season just minutes into the Swan’s clash with Hawthorn. The 23-year-old has been a hot topic in the lead-up to the 2025 season, with speculation he will leave the Swans at the end of the year. However, any pressure the persistent speculation may have placed on the youngster was shrugged off almost immediately as the ball magnet made the best possible start to arguably his most important season to date. After grabbing an early kick as the Hawks made a few early forays forward, Warner snuck into the forward line as former West Coast defender Tom Barrass was sucked up the ground on his Hawks debut. The long ball in lacked direction, but Warner, who recently purchased a house in Perth, was on hand to clean up the crumbs and slot through the first goal of the season curtain raiser. The major was met with roars from the fans, with one supporter displaying a sign with a desperate plea for the youngster to remain a blood beyond 2025. “We love The Chad. Never leave us,” the sign read. The fan’s sign even included an incentive, saying, “I’ll mow your lawn for 10 years”. If you’d like to view this content, please adjust your Cookie Settings. 7. 20 Brutally Honest Confessions From Americans About How They Feel With Trump’s Latest Truth Social Post 20 Brutally Honest Confessions From Americans About How They Feel With Trump’s Latest Truth Social Post On Tuesday morning, President Trump announced on Truth Social that he would stop federal funding to any school that allows “********” protests to occur on campus. Social media post by Donald J. Trump threatening to stop federal funding for institutions allowing ******** protests and warning of imprisonment or expulsion While Trump did not further explain what constitutes an ******** protest, a lot of people across the Internet have been expressing their concerns about how this violates their First Amendment rights. According to Esha Bhandari, deputy director of the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project, in an ACLU article, “The federal government cannot mandate expulsion of students or threaten funding cuts to punish constitutionally protected speech on campus. While the administration can enforce Title VI to ensure a learning environment free from harassment, it cannot force universities into adopting restrictive speech codes that silence the viewpoints the government disfavors.” People have been posting their concerns on Reddit when user Healthy_Block3036 asked: “Americans, how do you feel about Trump stopping funding for Colleges that allow “********” protests?” So, I thought I would share what they wrote below: 1.”I wish we had a real Congress and SCOTUS and some partially intelligent people in the Cabinet.” A group of officials, including judges in robes, sit during a formal event. Audience members applaud —Corpshark “Or some people with a spine, but that’s not what MAGA’s voted into office everywhere.” —FK-DJT “Some (not all, lmao) of the people in the Cabinet are intelligent. They know what they’re doing is ********. They don’t care. They know what they’re doing is massively unpopular. They don’t care because the plan is to get rid of fair elections.” —flannyo 2.”I wish we had a left-leaning party (*******) that wasn’t so worried about ‘decorum’ that they are helpless to do anything in response to Republican antics. The Biden admin should have prosecuted Trump, tried expanding the court, and whatever else they could have.” —Kevdog1800 “Yeah, they really need to stop trying to do things the proper way and just use the system to their advantage like the other side is doing. The game is already rigged; they are not gonna win by taking the high road.” —Bgo318 3.”This is a clear First Amendment violation. Protesting is a fundamental constitutionally protected right, and Trump cannot unilaterally declare them ********.” A man in a suit stands at a podium speaking, with others seated in the background, suggesting a formal or governmental setting —curious_meerkat “Especially not via a Tweet.” —B19F00T 4.”The same as for every previous Trump act. Half the population is deeply alarmed at the massive overreach by the President and the implications it has for large sections of the constitution, and the other half of the population cannot get any more ****** than they already are.” —Initiatedspoon “However, some of the base is leaving. A farmer friend of mine (a lib) who lives in North Dakota just told me a story I found interesting today: He was selling some of his sunflower seeds at a grain elevator in central ND. He knows the manager is a MAGA person but subtly asked him, ‘So, yeah, what do you think of these new tariffs?’ The manager stated that he felt betrayed and they would ruin American agriculture.” —ilovesaintpaul 5.”It blows my mind that he and his supporters are so unashamed. I’ve never seen such an un-American display in my entire life. What a ******** coward this man is.” Person in a blue outfit wearing a red hat with text, clapping enthusiastically at an event —J-ne “They believe they will never be the victims of his cruelty. Joining the bully is fun until the bully turns on you.” —lifesprig “There have always been Authoritarians living here. There were monarchists during the revolution, there were slave owners during the Civil War, there were fascist supporters before World War II, and there were people who celebrated when students were shot at Kent State. They’ve always lost ‘in the end,’ but they’ve always been here, and they always will be here. They wear the flag and pretend to love this country, but they hate freedom.” —TheGlennDavid “What shocks me isn’t his insane supporters. It’s all the other institutions that are falling so quickly in line. I knew intellectually that so many institutions that bill themselves as ‘pro-democracy’ — like The New York Times, say — are really just pro-status quo. But it’s still shocking to see them just roll over for fascism without even a fight.” —PoopMobile9000 6.”I wonder if he posted this [on Tuesday] because he knows that what he said [on Tuesday] was going to spark a lot of disapproval among educated people.” —Banshe_617 “Oh, yeah, guys. Here in Ukraine, we’ve already seen such political moves in Russia when Putin was preparing for war against us. So… I have a bad feeling about this.” —Mobile-Statement6934 7.”The longer I watch this circus, the faster I want to get out of the country. And I am a straight, white male, decorated combat veteran, and public service worker. I am literally watching every step that my forefathers fought happen again.” The U.S. Capitol building beneath a cloudy sky, symbolizing government and legislative news events —Salted_Paramedic “BBC News said there were a record number of Americans applying to move to the *** in the last four weeks.” —Kezly “I was recently in Copenhagen, and I happened to walk by the US embassy on my way for coffee one morning, and there was a massive line up out the door with a sign reviewing requirements for Visa applications. It was kind of a wild sight to see.” —Puzzleheaded_Shame75 8.”He’s laying the foundation for martial law. The first protest that gets a little ‘rough; will be the casus belli he’s been chomping at the bit for.” —Zerorezlandre 9.”He’s seeing the numbers: approval rating plummeting, (obviously), stock markets dropping, Zelensky saying he won’t apologize (because he has nothing to apologize for). Orange Man is big, mad, and in emotional panic mode. KEEP IT UP EVERYONE. DON’T TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS.” Stock market display showing exchange rates with the American flag; Dólar at 20.92, up 1.13% —SirTabetha “Yeah, I’m not sure he thinks about it that way. The POS has complete control right now. I hope you’re right, though.” —Ok_Association8194 10.”Is anyone surprised? J6 was ok; college kids voicing their opinions is not. Trump is a dictator who’s following Hitler’s playbook.” —recoveredcrush 11.”I like how MAGAs get all ******* off when college kids demonstrate but fully supported full-grown adults attacking the Capitol, ******** on desks, and injuring law enforcement. They can sure put the hippo in hypocrite.” Person sitting outside, holding a smartphone, looking distressed with a hand covering their face —EdgeMiserable4381 12.”I am a 6th generation Texan. To say I was raised Republican is an understatement. Trump is a moron who has doomed our country, and now he’s trying to strip away our most basic rights as citizens. I can’t stand my family that voted for him.” —Gonzowiththewind 13.”This feels like his playbook for many other things, including USAID and Ukraine aid. I feel like he wants to cut funding to universities regardless of whether they have legal or ******** protests. He makes a statement that he will stop funding for universities that allow ******** protests. The Supreme Court has given him free interpretation to determine if a protest is ‘********.’ Even if ‘legal’ protests are held, or no protests are held, he will tell his loyal followers that ******** protests are being held. Funding will be halted. He can claim that he was victorious and owned the libs, and people will ****** up to give him his eagerly anticipated handshakes, back pats, blowjobs, and chicken tenders and fries. Rinse and repeat with the next government agency that he wants to dismantle.” People holding signs advocating for Ukraine, including one reading “Ukraine Needs Weapons,” during a protest —thewalex 14.”The higher-ups and wealthy donors that control the GOP have wanted all of this for years. My employer paid for me to go back to school as an adult due to a contract dispute with our labor union. We didn’t get to pick the school. The school they picked for us was a right-wing Christian business school. I figured my life would be better if I had a degree than it would be if I turned down the offer, so I accepted it. You would not believe some of the ***** they are teaching these kids.” “They basically want to isolate our whole country and produce everything we need within our borders. Their reasoning is that ‘we used to.’ Yeah, we did about a hundred years ago. They know that people will suffer in the process, but they simply don’t care because the end justifies the means. They also don’t believe that a middle class should exist and that the wealthy, as ‘creators of wealth,’ shouldn’t have to pay any kind of taxes. They think the only responsibility the federal government should have is protecting us from foreign invaders. They also want to do away with the federal minimum wage. They even tried to blame the institution of the federal minimum wage for causing ****** plight. Yeah, according to them, the minimum wage prevented ****** shop owners from being able to run profitable businesses in ****** neighborhoods, and that’s why there are so many poor ****** folks. Seriously, they claim this. If you wanna learn about some more of their wild ideas and see where our country’s most likely headed, do a Google search for a book called When We Are Free by Matcheck and Ebeling.” —Moscowmitchismybitch 15.”It should be shocking, but it’s not. This is great for corporate America. You mean workers’ rights, equal pay, overtime, and no slave labor can be thrown away for a generous bribe? Yes, please. This is capitalism heaven.” Protesters hold a banner reading “Capitalism Isn’t Working, Another World is Possible,” with a line of diverse figures depicted below the text —wizzywurtzy 16.”One of the qualities of fascism is to fully reject and suppress any facts that may run contrary to the fascist power structure. Simply uttering words that challenge their position is a threat to the order.” —aperture413 17.”Welcome to Nazi America.” A man in a suit waves while standing among applauding people at an event, appearing confident and acknowledged —Genocode 18.”If by ‘********’ he means, for example, the many recent protests that overran (and somewhat destroyed) academic buildings or burned police cars to the ground, then yes, those ******** activities should be stopped. Peaceful, orderly protests are not ******** anywhere in the United States. Nothing about that should change.” —AccomplishedTurn5925 “So Trump cares about academic buildings being overrun, but not government buildings? Because he pardoned those January 6 people. This is definitely to enforce against protests where he doesn’t approve of what’s being protested.” —Jaijoles “But all those things are already ********. What is the school supposed to do when a group of 100 people have signs protesting legally for four hours, then one rando decides to punch someone else in the face? Was the school supposed to ********* report that rando and arrest them before they ever took a swing?” —pax284 19.”Looks very bad. The First Amendment does have restrictions, but I imagine his idea of ‘********’ is not the same as the actual law.” People at a protest holding signs advocating for women’s rights in an urban setting —Geno1480 “This is why the wording is so vital. There is no such thing as an ******** protest. There are people who do ******** acts during a protest, but no protest is ********. Blurring that line is very much intentional here. One person doing something ******** at a protest lets them label the entire protest as ********. And eventually, they just make protesting ******** altogether.” —goldberg1303 “Blurring that line is very much intentional here. Absolutely the point. If you go to the conservative subreddit, the word ‘********’ is doing tons and tons of heavy lifting here. They fully assume that means all protests are still allowed, just not the ******** ones. (I don’t actually know what anyone means by that.) The problem to me, like most of the things he does, is that there is no specific meaning behind what he says. Nobody knows what he means here; it means whatever you need it to mean. Obviously, this is intentional. It’s meant to cause chaos, as much of it as he possibly can. Chaos is the point. This is just another example of **** eating, and America voted for **** eating.” —JackSparrow420 20.And finally, “Trump is violating the constitution on a daily basis; Republicans are just allowing it, and all Democrats are doing is shrugging and saying they can’t do anything. ******** pathetic, spineless government.” —GrexxSkullz Do you have thoughts about Trump’s Truth Social post about stopping funding for Colleges that allow “********” protests? 9. ‘Scary’ tropical storm nears Queensland ‘Scary’ tropical storm nears Queensland Katy Watson Australia correspondent Reporting fromSouthern Queensland Watch: Australia’s east coast prepares for rare cyclone The wind has been kicking up along Australia’s Gold Coast and so too has the swell. But while authorities have been warning residents to stay indoors as Cyclone Alfred approaches, die-hard surfers have been throwing caution to the increasing wind. “This is what we look forward to,” said surfer Jeff Weatherall as he waited for a jet ski to pick him up from Kirra beach and carry him into the big waves. “This is the fifth day straight – I’ve done nothing but eat, sleep, surf and do it again.” The cyclone is expected to make landfall as a category two system on Saturday morning. Kirra beach is famous for its breakers and surfers have been busy this week seizing the strong winds. “There are people that are going to lose their houses, but at the moment, you’re taking the good of it all. This is just crazy surf,” said surfer Donnie Neal. Cyclone Alfred’s path has slowed in recent days and has been moving “erratically” according to weather experts, which is why landfall has been delayed from earlier predictions. “A category two system means winds near the centre up to 95km/h (59mph), with gusts up to 130km/h,” says the Bureau of Meteorology’s Matthew Collopy. Another meteorologist described its progress as a “walking pace”, which has raised concerns that it may bring a prolonged ******* of heavy rain and flooding. Four million people are in the firing line of Cyclone Alfred. It’s expected to hit between the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast – a stretch of Australia known for its beautiful beaches and top surf – as well as Brisbane, Australia’s third-biggest city with a population of nearly 3 million. Jeff Weatherall has been doing little but surf for days at Kirra, which is famous for its breakers While keen surfers have been taking advantage of the wind and waves, most residents are hunkering down indoors. Stephen Valentine and his wife, who live in Logan city south of Brisbane, have prepared some 30 litres of water, food for themselves and their pets, and set up “protected rooms” in their home situated away from windows. “At the moment we are as prepared as we can be for something that none of us have been through… Nothing has come this far south across the south,” said Mr Valentine, who grew up in the city. “We would get the edge of a cyclone ever so often, but not to this level,” he added. While Queensland isn’t a stranger to cyclones – it’s the most disaster-prone state in Australia – it’s rare they come so far south. As well as strong winds, Cyclone Alfred is expected to dump as much as 800mm of rain in the coming days, affecting a large area of southern Queensland and northern New South Wales. Flash and riverine flooding is the biggest concern in low-lying areas. “These are tough times, but Australians are tough people, and we are resilient people,” said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday, echoing the Gold Coast’s acting Mayor Donna Gates, who has said Cyclone Alfred is a “scary proposition” for the region. New South Wales police said on Friday that one man was missing after his four-wheel drive was swept into a fast-flowing river. Authorities deliver sandbags to areas on the path of Cyclone Alfred in Queensland As of Friday, more than 84,000 homes in the two states were without power, and tens of thousands more were under evacuation orders. Nearly 1,000 schools have closed, public transport has been suspended and airports are shut. Flights aren’t expected to resume until Sunday at the earliest. Elective surgeries have also been cancelled. The last time a cyclone of Alfred’s magnitude hit was in 1974, when Wanda hit in January and then two months later, Zoe crossed the coast. Flooding though, is more common. In February 2022, thousands of homes were damaged along much of Australia’s east after heavy rain. Authorities have been keen to prepare communities ahead of Cyclone Alfred. The council opened sandbag depots across the region to help residents protect their homes. “It’s surreal. We know it’s coming, but it’s very quiet,” said Anthony Singh, a resident of the Brisbane suburb of West End. He waited for four hours on Wednesday to pick up sandbags to protect his home. Getty Images As well as strong winds, Cyclone Alfred is expected to dump as much as 800mm of rain in the coming days Fellow resident Mark Clayton, helped to co-ordinate the sandbag collection, shovelling more than 140 tonnes of sand. “I think people are a bit apprehensive,” he says. “Are the buildings going to stay up, are the roofs going to stay on? People expect a lot of trees to come down and to lose power for an extended ******* of time.” With supermarkets now shut and people mostly sheltering at home, there’s a lot of uncertainty as Australians wait for the storm to hit. 13. Reddit Rolls Out Post Insights for Performance Analysis, Community Suggestions and Other Tools Reddit Rolls Out Post Insights for Performance Analysis, Community Suggestions and Other Tools Reddit on Thursday rolled out new tools for Redditors which makes it easier to check if their posts conflict with the community’s rules, help them recover it, and display the requirements for posting in communities. With the new Post Insights feature, they can get a comprehensive view of their post’s performance, with metrics such as views, upvotes, and shares. This rollout builds upon the recent introduction of an AI conversational chatbot dubbed Reddit Answers with which users can interact by asking text-based queries. Reddit detailed the new tools introduced on its platform in a blog post. As per the company, the Post Check tool offers users an opportunity to review their posts if they are found to be at risk of violating the community’s rules and fix them to minimise the possibility of getting removed. However, if a post is indeed removed due to the aforementioned community rules, the new Post Recovery feature is a tool through which users can post it to an alternative subreddit whose rules it abides by. To eliminate the possibility of a post violating community rules altogether, the requirements, such as account age or Karma, will now be displayed before a user posts. And to make finding communities whose content relates to the post easier, the community-focused social media platform will suggest relevant communities based on the content, as per Reddit. Alongside, Reddit also introduces Post Insights, enabling users to see how well their posts are performing with the help of views, upvotes, shares, and more insights. The company says these features are now available across Reddit’s desktop and mobile apps. Notably, Reddit has also jumped on the artificial intelligence (AI) bandwagon by introducing an AI chatbot in December last year. It was introduced as a new way of getting information, recommendations, discussions, and opinions on the platform on a wide range of topics. Users can ask the AI chatbot text-based questions to receive responses based on summarised relevant posts on the platform. Reddit Answers will also suggest follow-up questions in case the user is uncertain, as per the company. 15. BBC News to create AI department to offer more personalised content | BBC BBC News to create AI department to offer more personalised content | BBC BBC News is to create a new department that will use AI to give the public more personalised content, as its leader said the corporation had been “defying gravity” in reaching audiences amid seismic changes in the way news is consumed. In a note to staff seen by the Guardian, Deborah Turness, the chief executive of BBC News, announced an overhaul of the organisation’s structure, including the creation of a new department, BBC News growth, innovation and AI. It will have a particular focus on under-25s, amid a huge shift to news consumption on smartphones and on platforms such as TikTok. Turness said the corporation had to act fast to counter a series of headwinds including “the growing trend of news avoidance, the growth of news consumption on social platforms, increased digital competition and inevitable broadcast decline”. It is understood that measures could include deploying AI to curate stories for users on their phones, based on their previous consumption, in a way that suits those used to consuming content served up by social media. “We must become ruthlessly focused on understanding our audience needs, on delivering the kind of journalism and content they want, in the places they want it, designed and produced in the shape that they enjoy it,” Turness said. “We must do this on platforms that deliver a best-in-class consumer experience, offering personalisation, recommendation and unique user journeys. And we must deploy AI to support, enable and accelerate our innovation and growth.” News organisations across the board are grappling with how AI should be deployed. Some outlets are already going much further, using the technology to summarise articles or to rewrite articles for different audiences. However, a recent BBC study into the leading AI assistants found they had a tendency to create distortions, factual inaccuracies and misleading content in response to questions about news and current affairs. The corporation has previously pledged that its use of AI “will always be in line with its public service values”, and said it must never undermine the trust of audiences and must always be used in “a manner consistent with BBC editorial values, in particular of accuracy, impartiality, fairness and privacy”. In her memo, Turness said the changes were part of a plan to “reshape BBC News”, designed to ensure its journalism reaches “the widest possible audience, regardless of where or how they find us”. The overhaul will also include the creation of a second new department, BBC live and daily news. 16. Why International ETFs are Growing Faster than US ETFs Why International ETFs are Growing Faster than US ETFs International ETFs saw a surge in inflows in February. They rose at a faster rate than U.S. ETFs. A driving factor was the performance of international stocks versus U.S. stocks. International ETFs saw inflows spike in February. There was a surge in interest among investors on international equity exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in February, as investors seek to diversify more assets from the volatile U.S. stock market. ETFs that invest in international stocks saw inflows more than double in February, rising from $6.5 billion in January to $15.4 billion in February, according to ETF.com. Overall, international equity ETFs saw assets under management climb about 2% in February to $1.63 trillion. The overall numbers pale in comparison to U.S. equity ETFs, but the growth rate for international ETFs was much faster in February, according to ETF.com data. Specifically, ETFs that invest predominantly in U.S. stocks generated $52.2 billion in assets in February. That’s roughly half the $110.8 billion that ETFs brought in overall last month. However, that is down from the $56.1 billion in inflows that US equity ETFs saw in January. The January haul for US equity ETFs was a higher percentage of the $107 billion in total ETF inflows in January. Also, total assets under management in US equity ETFs fell about 3% to $6.7 trillion in February. Why International ETFs Saw More Inflows The surge in inflows for international equity ETFs in February stems from a few different factors. One, U.S. stocks struggled in February, with most indexes down for the month due to concerns about the economy, tariffs, inflation, and geopolitics, among other issues. The index was the hardest hit, dropping 5.4% in February, while the S&P Midcap 400 fell 4.3%. The tanked 3.9% while the was off 1.4% and the dropped 1.3%. The only positive domestic index for the month was the Russell 1000 Value (NYSE:), up 0.4%. At the same time, international stocks have performed much better. For example, the MSCI EAFE index (NYSE:), which tracks stocks outside of North America, gained about 4% in February and is up roughly 8% YTD. Stocks in Europe have performed even better, as the Index gained about 6% in February and has risen roughly 11% YTD. Those returns have driven international ETFs higher, as most of the top-performing ETFs this year are international, including those that track stocks in Europe. For example, the SPDR Euro Stoxx 50 ETF (NYSE:) has returned 13.1% YTD while the iShares MSCI Eurozone ETF (NYSE:) is up 11.4%. Further, the Vanguard Europe ETF (NYSE:) has returned 10.2% YTD. That’s likely due to European stocks reporting better earnings, on average, than their U.S., counterparts. According to a recent report from FactSet’s John Butters, large cap companies that generated more than 50% of their revenue from outside the U.S. in Q4 saw a 5.9% revenue growth rate. In comparison, companies that made more thane 50% of their revenue in the U.S. saw revenue growth of 5.0%. It will be interesting to see if that gap widens in Q1. 18. How These Pacer ETFs Leverage Cash Flow Quality for Reliable Returns How These Pacer ETFs Leverage Cash Flow Quality for Reliable Returns While market cap weighting is still the go-to for many investors due to its low cost and low turnover, it’s becoming increasingly fragile these days thanks to the concentration risk among a handful of tech sector mega caps. There are plenty of ways to diversify away from this concentration risk. For example, WisdomTree’s ETFs use a strategy that weights by dividend payments and often screens for consistent earnings-per-share (EPS) growth, return on equity (ROE), and return on assets (ROA). I’m a big fan of WisdomTree, especially since their approach is grounded in Jeremy Siegel’s research. But another contender gaining popularity with advisors is Pacer ETFs, particularly their “Cash Cow” ETF lineup. These ETFs take a different approach by screening for free cash flow yield. At the end of the day, when you buy stocks, you’re buying a business—and just like if you were opening a convenience store or a restaurant, all you should care about is, “How much cash can I get out of this business?” Here’s a look at my three favorite Pacer “Cash Cow” ETFs and how to combine them into a robust core U.S. equity portfolio. Why Screen For Free Cash Flow Yield? Free cash flow (FCF) is one of the most reliable metrics for evaluating a company’s financial health. It essentially shows how much cash a business generates after covering its expenses, taxes, interest payments, and long-term investments. What makes free cash flow a better metric than earnings per share (EPS) is its resistance to manipulation. EPS can be easily adjusted through accounting tactics like altering depreciation schedules or using share buybacks to reduce the share count. In contrast, free cash flow reflects the actual cash a company has on hand, making it a more accurate gauge of business efficiency. But to truly measure the value of free cash flow, we look at free cash flow yield, which is calculated by dividing free cash flow by enterprise value (EV). Enterprise value is the market capitalization of a company, adjusted by adding its debt and subtracting its cash. These adjustments are important because they provide a more complete picture of a company’s total valuation. Adding debt accounts for the fact that acquiring a business means taking on its liabilities, while subtracting cash acknowledges that available cash can offset acquisition costs, improve liquidity, or pay down debt. A high free cash flow yield often signals a business that generates substantial cash relative to its valuation. These businesses often have good cost control and disciplined capital spending, allowing them to produce cash consistently. One of the main advantages of high free cash flow is the flexibility it provides. Companies with ample cash flow can increase dividends, providing shareholders with a more substantial and reliable income stream. They can also buy back shares, which reduces the share count and can boost the stock price. Paying down debt is another option, improving the balance sheet and reducing financial risk. Finally, these companies can reinvest in growth, funding new projects, acquisitions, or research and development without needing external financing. Putting Free Cash Flow Yield In Play Our core U.S. equity portfolio with a free cash flow yield tilt will begin with 60% allocated to the Pacer US Cash Cows 100 ETF (NYSE:). This is Pacer’s flagship fund, boasting a five-star Morningstar rating and outperforming the majority of mid-cap value ETFs on a risk-adjusted basis. With $25 billion in assets under management and a 0.49% expense ratio, COWZ is well-capitalized and reasonably priced for its strategy. The approach here is straightforward. COWZ takes the , narrows it down to the top 100 companies based on free cash flow yield, and weights them by their trailing 12-month free cash flow yield, with a 2% cap to prevent over-concentration. Source: Pacer ETFs To add a size tilt, we’ll complement this with a 20% allocation to the Pacer US Small Cap Cash Cows 100 ETF (NYSE:). I like CALF because it draws from the Index instead of the , which has a built-in profitability screen to weed out junk—something the small-cap space sorely needs. The screening process is virtually identical to COWZ, again focusing on high free cash flow yield with the same ranking methodology and 2% cap. Source: Pacer ETFs Finally, we want to barbell the small-cap value allocation in CALF with a large-cap growth tilt. Small-cap value and large-cap growth often pop in and out of favor, so balancing these exposures can capture a rebalancing premium. The ETF for this purpose is the Pacer US Cash Cows Growth ETF (NYSE:). BUL uses the same strategy as COWZ and CALF but starts with the S&P 900 Pure Growth Index, which combines the for large caps and the . The initial screening process for the S&P 900 Pure Growth Index evaluates three-year sales-per-share growth, the three-year ratio of earnings-per-share change to price per share, and momentum based on the 12-month percentage change in price. Then, it applies the same free cash flow yield filters as the other Cash Cows ETFs. Source: Pacer ETFs The results speak for themselves. A portfolio with 60% allocated to COWZ, 20% to CALF, and 20% to BUL, rebalanced quarterly from May 3, 2019, to February 28, 2025, delivered an impressive 13.04% CAGR. 19. Brumbies score thrilling win over Super champion Blues Brumbies score thrilling win over Super champion Blues The ACT Brumbies have buried their Eden Park demons with a hoodoo-busting 21-20 Super Rugby Pacific victory over the defending champion Blues. A 79th-minute penalty goal from halfback Ryan Lonergan earned the Brumbies the lead for the first time on Friday night after the Blues had earlier threatened to run away with the match. Despite winning 23 of their past 24 games against *********** opposition, the Blues couldn’t deny the Brumbies a spirited comeback triumph on this occasion. The hosts led 20-10 at the break after two runaway tries in the space of two minutes just before halftime to prop Angus Ta’avo and superstar centre Rieko Ioane. Their lead would have been far larger had Beauden Barrett not sprayed two conversion attempts and a routine shot at a penalty goal. But the Brumbies fought back doggedly in the second half, with a penalty goal from Declan Meredith reducing the deficit to seven points before the scrumhalf crossed out wide for his side’s second try of the night. Meredith missed the conversion attempt to leave the Brumbies trailing by two. After dominating the scrum, lineout and breakdown, the Brumbies secured a decisive penalty with less than two minutes left, allowing Lonergan to boot the Canberrans to a famous victory. The match had been all locked up at 10-all through 35 minutes, after Brumbies captain Allan Alalatoa’s pick-and-drive effort cancelled out Barrett’s early strike for the Blues. But Ioane’s first try since May 2023, and his milestone 50th in Super Rugby, looked to have given the Blues all the momentum entering the second half. The Brumbies, though, had other ideas. Cyclone blows PM’s April 12 election plan off course Cyclone blows PM’s April 12 election plan off course The prime minister has scrapped plans to call an election for April 12, in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Speculation had been mounting that Anthony Albanese would visit the governor-general on Sunday or Monday to call the poll. But with Tropical Cyclone Alfred bearing down on millions of people in southeast Queensland and northern NSW, he has now put the speculation to bed. “I’ve no intention of doing anything that distracts from what we need to do, and what we need to do is to look after each other at this difficult time,” he told the ABC’s 7.30 program on Friday. “This is not a time for looking at politics,” he said according to a video posted to the ABC website. Mr Albanese also said the 2025/26 federal budget pencilled in for March 25 would go ahead. “I have very clearly said … that we’d produce a budget on March 25 and that certainly is my clear intention, and it has been,” he said. Other Saturdays later in April have been ruled out due to the Easter and Anzac Day long weekends. An election must be held by May 17. YouGov polling released on Friday showed the federal government is ahead of the coalition for the first time in eight months on a two-party basis, at 51 per cent to 49 per cent. Labor hasn’t been ahead in the pollster’s data since July 2024. Last week, it was trailing the opposition, on 49 per cent to 51 per cent. The improvement has been linked to Labor’s recent announcement of a multi-billion dollar boost for Medicare and the prime minister’s support for Ukraine.
