Feeney tops opening Supercars practice in Tasmania
Feeney tops opening Supercars practice in Tasmania
Broc Feeney has fired a warning shot to Supercars title rivals with the quickest practice lap during the opening session in Tasmania.
Left smarting after a frustrating weekend in New Zealand, the Triple Eight young gun topped the timesheets with a lap of 51.311 seconds on Friday at Launceston’s Symmons Plains Raceway.
The 22-year-old was 0.0017 seconds faster than Team 18 driver David Reynolds, while championship leader Will Brown was 12th fastest.
Feeney dropped out of the top three in the series standings after failing to make the podium last round across the Tasman.
He is fourth behind Grove rival Matt Payne, who shot up the standings after winning two of the three sprints at Taupo International Motorsport Park.
Feeney’s teammate Brown holds a 34-point lead over second-placed Tickford driver Cam Waters.
Waters was 14th fastest, among many drivers on Friday who journeyed into the gravel after locking up on the infamous hairpin at turn four.
Drivers will return for the final practice session at 3pm (AEST) on Friday, ahead of Saturday’s back-to-back qualifying sessions.
Two 120km races will follow qualifying on Saturday.

State of Survival lets you team up with Agent 47 for some swift stealthy precision in Hitman collab
State of Survival lets you team up with Agent 47 for some swift stealthy precision in Hitman collab
Agent 47 joins as a playable character
New skins, city decorations, and avatar frames
Villain bosses Oybek Nabazov and Owen Cage join in too
FunPlus has announced an interesting new collab within State of Survival, where the hunter becomes the hunted thanks to a particularly skilled (and popularly bald-headed) assassin. If you’re all set letting Lara Croft deal with the undead, then Agent 47 is switching up what it means to kill zombies with the State of Survival x Hitman collaboration. Does this mean you can look forward to honing your powers of stealthy precision across this harsh post-apocalyptic world? I should think so.
The Hitman crossover also welcomes Oybek Nabazov and Owen Cage to the fray as new villain bosses, along with Diana Burnwood as a new character in the narrative. You can expect to unleash hell as Agent 47 in his signature suit, and once you’ve progressed enough into the collab, you can unlock his Crimson Red Suit too, all so you can look hella cool while ridding the world of the undead.
Of course, the collab will also add capital city skins as well as in-city decorations, in addition to marching vehicles and avatar frames to complete the look. There’s a nifty card collection book to grab too if you’re interested.
Or, if you’re on the hunt for something similar, why not take a look at our list of the best zombie games on Android to get your fill?
In the meantime, if you’re eager to join in on all the fun, you can do so by checking out State of Survival on the App Store and on Google Play. It’s free-to-play with in-app purchases.
You can also join the community of followers on the official Facebook page to stay updated on all the latest developments, visit the official website for more info, or take a little peek at the embedded clip above to get a feel of the vibes and visuals.

Good morning, here’s your cruise news for Tuesday, May 6th.

Iranian student in Alabama to self-deport despite withdrawal of initial charge behind his arrest
Iranian student in Alabama to self-deport despite withdrawal of initial charge behind his arrest
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — An Iranian mechanical engineering student at the University of Alabama has decided to self-deport after six weeks in a Louisiana detention center despite the government dropping a charge behind his initial arrest, his lawyer and fiancee said.
Alireza Doroudi was detained by immigration officials in March as part of President Donald Trump’s widespread immigration crackdown and has been held at a facility in Jena, Louisiana, over 300 miles (480 kilometers) from where he lived with his fiancee in Alabama.
At the time the State Department said Doroudi posed “significant national security concerns.”
Doroudi’s lawyer, David Rozas, said the government has not offered any evidence to support that claim, however.
Doroudi’s visa was revoked in June 2023. Officials did not give a reason and ignored numerous inquiries from him that year, according to his fiancee, Sama Ebrahimi Bajgani.
Back then the University of Alabama advised Doroudi that he was legally allowed to stay but would not be allowed to re-enter if he left, Bajgani added.
This spring the government filed two charges against Doroudi to justify deporting him, saying his visa was revoked and he was not “in status” as a student, Rozas said.
On Thursday a U.S. government attorney withdrew the first of those and said the visa revocation was “prudential,” meaning it would not go into effect until after he leaves the country — in line with what the university told Doroudi earlier.
Rozas said he has submitted evidence disputing the remaining accusation, that he is not an active student.
A State Department spokesperson declined to comment on the case, including Rozas’ characterization of the initial arrest as an error.
The judge in the case, Maithe Gonzalez, gave both sides until the end of May to refile motions and denied Doroudi’s request to redetermine eligibility for bond. Doroudi decided to give up rather than continue to fight deportation.
“He told me that if they let him to go out, there was a good chance that he would have fought his case for the sake of other students and for the sake of himself,” Bajgani said afterward by phone. “They just want to make him tired so he can deport himself.”
Bajgani, who drove 11 hours round-trip to attend the hourlong hearing, echoed Rozas’ confusion about why Doroudi was targeted for deportation, saying he has no criminal record, entered the country legally and was not politically outspoken like other students who have been targeted.
She affectionately described her fiance as a “nerd” and “a really big thinker” who spent long days in the lab and enjoys anime. He does not deserve what happened to him, she said, and now the life they built in Alabama is over.
“I am not happy about the whole thing that happened to us, and I need time to grieve for what I am going to put behind and leave,” Bajgani said. “All the dreams, friendships and dreams we had with each other.”
In a letter to Bajgani from behind bars in April, Doroudi called his detention a “pure injustice.”
“I didn’t cause any trouble in this country,” he said. “I didn’t enter illegally. I followed all the legal paths.”
Rozas said he has not seen such a case in his 21 years as an immigration attorney. He accused authorities of denying his client due process and forcing him to choose between indefinite detention and self-deporting.
“I’m absolutely devastated,” Rozas said, “and I think it’s a travesty of justice.”

Why Cardinals Are Banned From Eating Ravioli During the Conclave
Why Cardinals Are Banned From Eating Ravioli During the Conclave
Originally appeared on E! Online
The conclave diet was not made with gourmands in mind.
Amid the voting to find Pope Francis’ successor, the 135 Catholic cardinals sequestered in the ******** are not exactly having meals fit for the King of Kings, or even kings for that matter.
“You don’t eat very well,” Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi of Italy told the New York Times in an article published May 7, with Cardinal Lüdwig Miller adding of the food, “It’s not so good.”
In fact, Francis, who died in April at 88, himself may have something to do with the bland meals the potential new pope is feasting on at the moment. After all, his simple taste curated the ********’s menu for the last 12 years, which includes what cardinals described to the New York Times as less-than-rich pastas, vegetables and leftovers that were gifted to the pope—such as dates from the Middle East.
Meanwhile, there have been items that are completely forbidden from the menus.
More from E! Online
Stuffable pastas such as ravioli, as well as whole chickens, have previously not been condoned for conclave consumption, as messages could be easily concealed in them. Indeed, food at the conclaves began to be inspected around the 16th century for secret notes—with high security surveillance in the kitchens where meals were prepared.
Around the same time in history, cardinals who died amid the conclave were suspected to have done so because of poisoned food. As such, cardinals began taking turns acting as poison testers, and once one cardinal ate food without ailment, the others joined in, Chef Bartolomeo Scappi—a famed ******** cook—noted in his written works from the era.
Massimo Valicchia/NurPhoto via Getty Images
Of course, any food is better than nothing. Back in the 1200s, Pope Gregory X—whose electing conclave is still the longest to date clocking in at three years—instilled a rationing rule due to the elongated lengths of conclaves, per the BBC. If the cardinals did not reach a consensus within three days, their food would be limited to one meal per day. After eight days, they were only allowed to have bread and water. (These rules were relaxed in the 1300s.)
Still, the cardinals taking part in the current conclave are well aware that they won’t be served up anything special amid their conclave.
As Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo told the New York Times, “We will eat whatever they give us.”
Keep reading to see every contender who could succeed Pope Francis…
Pietro Parolin
Cardinal Pietro Parolin had served as Pope Francis’ secretary of state—a.k.a. his second in command—since 2014.
In his role, the 70-year-old Italian, a former ambassador to Venezuela, oversaw internal church affairs and guided official foreign policy, making him exceptionally familiar with the politics of the Roman Catholic Church, at the ******** and on the world stage.
But the pick would not be without the tinge of scandal: Parolin was linked to, but not charged in connection with, an investment in a London real estate venture that went wrong and led to another cardinal, Angelo Becciu, and nine others going on trial for financial crimes at the ******** in 2021. (Becciu, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted of fraud and embezzlement.)
Fridolin Ambongo
As archbishop of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, 65, grew close to Francis as a member of the pope’s nine-person advisory board, the Council of Cardinals.
If elected, he would be the first pope from sub-Saharan Africa, but he’d come from the more conservative side of the church, having opposed Francis’ 2023 ruling that allowed blessings of same-sex couples.
Luis Antonio Tagle
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of the Philippines accompanied Francis on multiple trips through Asia—and he would be the first Asian pope. (For the record, Francis was the first non-European pope since 741 A.D., so a variety of firsts are possible for this conclave.)
Known familiarly as “Chito” among his faithful, the congenial 67-year-old is an advocate for the poor, which would be in keeping with Francis’ priorities. Formerly archbishop of Manila, Tagle was brought to Rome by France to head the ********’s missionary evangelization office.
Tagle was previously considered for the papacy during the 2013 conclave but, at 55, was considered way too young.
Matteo Zuppi
Also a proponent of the belief that the church should first and foremost serve the poor, Matteo Zuppi of Bologna, Italy, was made a cardinal in 2019—and there’s speculation that Francis would have handpicked him to be his successor if such things were done.
As archbishop of Bologna since 2015, he’s been known as “Don Matteo,” a defender of immigrants and the migrant plight. Zuppi wrote the preface to the Italian edition of Rev. James Martin’s 2017 book Building a Bridge, about how the church can better minister to members of the gay community.
He was also a member of a team from the Sant’Egidio Community charity that helped negotiate the end of Mozambique’s civil war in the 1990s and Francis named Zuppi his peace envoy amid Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Peter Erdo
In 2003, Pope John Paul II made then-50-year-old Peter Erdo of Hungary the youngest cardinal at the time. While the current archbishop of Budapest is known for his support of his country’s Jewish community and for reaching out to Catholics in Latin America and Africa, Erdo has some more entrenched conservative beliefs than Francis.
Now 72, he has spoken out against the church taking in migrants and against divorced Catholics receiving communion (which Francis didn’t allow, per se, but was open to considering it case by case).
Reinhard Marx
Archbishop of Munich and Freising Reinhard Marx, 71, was a key advisor to Francis and headed the Council for the Economy, which was created in 2014 to oversee ******** finances when the church needed to take a closer look at its spending habits. Marx was only one of two original members to continue on the council once Francis appointed six women to join in 2020.
In 2021, Marx offered to resign as archbishop to atone for the ******* church’s failings when it came to properly dealing with reports of ******* abuse—a scandal that has roiled Catholicism worldwide. Francis refused to accept and encouraged him to stay put.
Marc Ouellet
Appointed by Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Marc Ouellet of Canada oversaw the bishops office that helps select diocese leaders the world over until 2023. Since 2019, the office has been leading investigations into bishops accused of covering up for predatory priests all over the world, meaning Ouellet has seen a lot of files on a lot of church leaders.
Like Francis, Ouellet has supported women having a greater role in the church—while still, also like Francis, being against their ordination as priests.
Robert Prevost
Chicago-born Cardinal Robert Prevost would make history as the first pope from the United States. He spent nine years running the diocese of Chiclayo, Peru, before Francis brought him to Rome in 2023 to head up the office that vets bishop nominations all over the world. The 69-year-old is also president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, which would extend the church’s close relationship with the region of the planet where almost 40 percent of the world’s Catholics reside.
Christoph Schöenborn
Christoph Schöenborn, who served as archbishop of Vienna from September 1995 until Jan. 22, 2025, has voiced support of civil unions and women serving as deacons, and—as someone whose parents divorced when he was a teenager—he defended Francis’ outreach to divorced and civilly remarried Catholics.
The 80-year-old criticized the ******** in 2010 for its past refusal to sanction high-ranking officials who were credibly accused of ******* abuse, including his own predecessor in Vienna, Hans Hermann Groër, who died in 2003 and never faced charges. Schöenborn accused then-Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano (who died in 2022) of orchestrating a cover-up to protect Groër and making light of the entire issue by dismissing accusations of clerical abuse as “petty gossip.”
The ********, headed up by Benedict XVI at the time, rebuked Schöenborn for speaking out, stating that only a pope can level such an accusation against a cardinal.
Anders Arborelius
Anders Arborelius, 75, converted to Catholicism at 20 and, in 2017, became Sweden’s first Catholic cardinal. (The Scandinavian nation was very Lutheran before becoming more secular.)
The former Carmelite monk has preached unity, saying in a recent interview (per the New York Times), “It can be a danger in some parts of the church that you get divided on various issues. We should not form parties within the Catholic Church.”

Powerball jackpot: Cessnock’s newest millionaire bursts into uncontrollable laughter after winning lotto
Powerball jackpot: Cessnock’s newest millionaire bursts into uncontrollable laughter after winning lotto
A man from New South Wales has struck gold, winning the entire $30 million jackpot in Thursday night’s Powerball draw, declaring he is “done with bills forever”.
After holding the only division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1512, drawn on Thursday, 8 May, the man from Cessnock bought from Shell Aberdare Newsagency on Aberdare Road, netted him the life-changing prize.
An official from The Lott delivered the news shortly after the draw, catching the winner completely off guard.
“Holy sh..t!” he exclaimed, overwhelmed by the moment.
“Bless you, man! Bless you!” he laughed, before erupting into disbelief.
“I just had this ticket on the fridge. I was looking at it this afternoon and thought, ‘wouldn’t it be lovely to win’. The ticket was there with all the bills. There will be no more worrying about bills now. I don’t care if I get a bill now!”
Shaking with excitement, the newly minted multi-millionaire admitted sleep might be off the cards for the night.
“I used to wonder what I’d do if I got a winning phone call, but now all I can do is shake! I better take a breath or two.”
After a self-described “rough trot,” the man said the win was a turning point for him and his family.
“For a start, I’ll look at buying a new house and looking after the family. Then, I’ll take it from there.”
His first move? “I’m going to ring my kids right now and tell them the news!”
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1512 were 33, 32, 35, 14, 15, 7 and 34.
The Powerball number was 12.

Here’s what Pope Leo XIV has said about politics — and the Trump administration — on social media
Here’s what Pope Leo XIV has said about politics — and the Trump administration — on social media
For the first time in history, an American was chosen to lead the Catholic Church, as cardinals on Thursday selected Pope Leo XIV — or Cardinal Robert Prevost, a Chicago native — as the new pontiff.
The surprise move comes at a time of political tension in the United States. Hints as to what postures Pope Leo XIV might take on controversial issues may come from his activity on social media over the past several years.
As a cardinal, Prevost shared posts on X about political issues for years, including criticism of the Trump administration’s stances on immigration.
President Trump on Thursday congratulated Leo, writing on social media that it was “a Great Honor for our Country” and adding that “I look forward to meeting” him.
New pope shared criticism of JD Vance — and Trump’s immigration policies
In February, the now-pope shared a National Catholic Reporter article that criticized Vice President JD Vance’s response to a question on immigration. Vance is Catholic convert who met with Pope Francis last month, just one day before Francis’ death.
In an interview, Vance had said Christian teachings advocate for prioritizing love, first for family, then neighbors, community, fellow citizens, and lastly, the world.
Prevost quoted the article’s headline: “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others.”
His most recent repost, in April, shared commentary from a Catholic writer on Mr. Trump’s meeting with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele. The post called the deportation of Maryland resident Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador “illicit” and asked: “Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscience not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?”
The federal government has acknowledged that Abrego Garcia was mistakenly deported and detained in a Salvadoran prison, but the White House has not returned him to the U.S., despite a decision from the Supreme Court which called for it to facilitate his return.
Prevost shared statements for years advocating for stronger support for migrants. Many of his posts align with the positions of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and Francis, who criticized the Trump administration’s views on immigration.
In 2018, he reposted Cardinal Blase Cupich’s criticism of the Trump administration’s family separation policy during Mr. Trump’s first term.
In 2017, he reposted a California Catholic Conference statement opposing the administration’s stance on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration policy, or DACA, which allows immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as minors to live and work here.
In 2015, when Mr. Trump was still a Republican primary candidate, he reposted an article by Cardinal Timothy Dolan titled, “Why Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric is so problematic.”
Leo has also posted on gun control and abortion
Following the 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas which killed 58 people, Prevost reposted a statement from Cupich calling for “increased access to mental health care and stronger, sensible gun control laws.”
He also shared a statement from Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut criticizing political inaction on gun safety that read in part, “Your cowardice to act cannot be whitewashed by thoughts and prayers.”
He has also shared statements criticizing abortion. Following the 2016 U.S. presidential election, he reposted an article from the Catholic News Agency headlined: “Clinton ignored pro-lifers at her own peril, Democrats say.”
That December, he also shared an article from a Peruvian newspaper that criticized “gender ideology.” The now-pope served as a bishop in Peru for several years and was a Peruvian citizen.
According to the LGBTQ media advocacy group GLAAD, “gender ideology is not a term transgender people use to describe themselves, it is an inaccurate term deployed by opponents to undermine and dehumanize transgender and nonbinary people.”
Pope Leo’s voting records
Meanwhile, according to voting records shared with CBS News and data from the Illinois State Board of Elections, Prevost is registered to vote in the Chicago suburb of New Lenox, Illinois. He has voted in at least nine general elections, including in 2024, but it was unknown which party he voted for.
He has also voted in both Republican and Democratic primaries over the years. He voted in the Republican primaries in 2012, 2014 and 2016, including the presidential primaries in 2012 and 2016. He last voted in a Democratic primary in 2010. He had also voted in the party’s presidential primary in 2008.
Pope’s views on social media
In a 2023 interview with ******** News, the now-pope was asked about the relationship between bishops and social media.
“Social media can be an important tool to communicate the Gospel message reaching millions of people. We must prepare ourselves to use social media well,” he said. “I am afraid that sometimes this preparation has been lacking.”
“At the same time, the world today, which is constantly changing, presents situations where we really have to think several times before speaking or before writing a message on Twitter, in order to answer or even just to ask questions in a public form, in full view of everyone. Sometimes there is a risk of fuelling divisions and controversy,” he continued.
“There is a great responsibility to use social networks, communication, correctly, because it is an opportunity, but it is also a risk. And it can do damage to the communion of the Church. That is why one must be very prudent in the use of these means.”

Bridge replacement to close lanes, cause ‘major delays’ on Mass. Pike, officials warn
Bridge replacement to close lanes, cause ‘major delays’ on Mass. Pike, officials warn
Bay Staters who travel along a busy stretch of the Massachusetts Turnpike are being warned to brace for lane closures that will result in “major delays” in the coming weeks.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is implementing lane closures for two weekends on Interstate 90 between exits 123 and 125 in Newton and Weston to replace the bridge that runs over the MBTA railroad.
The work is associated with the Newton/Weston bridge replacement and rehabilitation at the I-90/I-95 interchange project.
The first weekend lane closure begins at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 30, through 5 a.m. on Monday, June 2, according to MassDOT. The second closure is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Friday, June 20, through 5 a.m. on Monday, June 23.
The lane closures will also result in a temporary commuter rail shutdown. The MBTA has announced detailed service changes.
Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver, MBTA Chief Operating Officer Ryan Coholan, and Massport Deputy Director of Roadway Management Peter Howe are slated to detail the forthcoming closures during a Thursday afternoon news conference at the MassDOT Highway Operations Center in Boston.

How good is the *** trade pact for America?
How good is the *** trade pact for America?
When President Donald Trump unveiled sweeping taxes on imports from around the world last month, he said the measures aimed to right America’s trade relationships.
In his new pact with the ***, we got a glimpse of the kind of agreements he might seek to negotiate across the globe.
Both the US and *** have so far offered limited details about the new trade deal, which both say is still being worked out in the weeks ahead.
But anyone hoping the White House will either significantly roll back its tariffs – or win major concessions abroad – seem bound for disappointment.
Under the outline presented on Thursday, the 10% import tax that Trump announced last month on most *** goods will remain intact.
Otherwise, the plans mostly amounted to the White House agreeing to walk back some of the import taxes it has unveiled on strategic sectors, such as cars and steel.
In exchange, the White House said it had won changes – which were unspecified – that would expand opportunities for sales of American beef, ethanol and other agricultural products in the ***.
“The actual substantive items that they negotiated are pretty narrow,” said Stan Veuger, a senior fellow in economic policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute. “In some sense you could say they basically took the status quo, made marginal changes and called it a deal.”
The Trump administration, which has seen markets panic at its tariff announcements, was eager to sell the announcement as significant, describing it as a “breakthrough”.
In the ***, Sir Keir Starmer, who also has incentive to want to be seen as a solid negotiator, called it “historic”, while noting there was more work to be done.
Steelmakers and car firms in the *** did express relief, saying the tariff rollback would help save jobs.
But it was hardly missed on anyone that despite progress, goods from the *** are still facing higher tariffs than they were a few weeks ago.
In the US, most analysts agreed that substantive benefits would be limited, despite the two sides discussing trade on and off for nearly a decade.
Mr Veuger noted that Trump in his first term was similarly willing to declare victory on deals with China, Mexico and Canada that experts likewise said would have narrow impact.
“I think for Trump the goal really is to have a deal and it doesn’t really matter what it looks like in the substance, ” he said. “It tells me it’s not that hard to get to a deal but it also tells me there’s not that much room to make changes.”
Thursday’s announcements drew an unusually sharp rebuke from American carmakers, which noted that the plans made ***-cars less expensive to import than many of the models made by their companies, which have operations in Mexico and Canada.
Other analysts pounced on the irony of the president dismissing concerns that tariffs are driving up prices for dolls while he agrees to lower imports on cars for the ultra-wealthy like Rolls-Royces and Bentleys, which are *** companies.
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association said it welcomed the deal but other groups representing farmers, a key part of Trump’s political base, were notably muted.
The American Farm Bureau Federation called it an “important first step”, while noting “more work is needed”.
“This is a good deal for American farmers … but it is at the end of the day a fairly narrowly-focused framework,” said Lewis Lukens, former acting US Ambassador to the *** and deputy chief of mission to the US embassy in London during part of Trump’s first term.
“It gives Trump a political victory with not too much really to show behind it.”
Republicans, traditionally a free-trade party, were quick to celebrate the achievement.
Rep Adrian Smith, a Republican from Nebraska, who chairs a subcommittee on trade, told the BBC he was “pleased” over the initial trade pact.
“This is a significant step toward eliminating barriers to American products in foreign markets and friendshoring supply chains,” he said, commending the administration for the swift negotiations, though noting he was happy to see details of the deal were still being negotiated “to address additional concerns”.
In a note to clients after the press conference, Paul Ashworth, chief North America economist at Capital Economics, said the announcement indicated “rising desperation” in the White House to ease its tariffs before they caused significant economic damage.
Those economic risks are coming not from the ***, but America’s relationship with China, which sent more than $400bn worth of goods to the US last year, more than six times that of the ***.
Trump has hiked import taxes on ******** products to at least 145%, prompting Beijing to retaliate with its own duties on American goods.
Trade traffic between the two countries has dropped precipitously since last month, raising fears that the tariffs will lead not only to price rises, as had been widely predicted, but shortages as well.
The two sides are set to have their first talks this weekend, but what will come out of them remain unclear.
Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on a 90-day pause that Trump placed on some of the highest tariffs he had announced last month on partners such as the European Union, Vietnam and Cambodia.
Earlier this week, Trump appeared testy when asked by reporters about his trade negotiations.
“Everyone says, ‘When, when, when are you going to sign deals?'” he said. “I wish they’d … stop asking.”
But it seems unlikely that this announcement with the *** will be the one to get the critics off his back.

Trump fires longtime Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden
Trump fires longtime Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden
President Trump has fired longtime Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden, a congressional source confirmed to CBS News.
Hayden was fired in an email Thursday from Trent Morse, deputy director of presidential personnel.
“On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately,” read the email, which was obtained by CBS News. “Thank you for your service.”

CBS News has reached out to the White House for comment. A Library of Congress official also confirmed Hayden’s firing to CBS News.
The move was blasted by Democratic House ********* Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who called the “unjust decision to fire Dr. Hayden in an email sent by a random political hack is a disgrace and the latest in his ongoing effort to ban books, whitewash American history and turn back the clock.”
Hayden has been the librarian of Congress since 2016. She was first woman and African American to hold the position.
“Personally, being a person of color, it means so much because people who look like me were forbidden by law to learn to read,” Hayden told CBS News in an interview in 2020. “That means so much that here is a person of color leading the world’s largest library.”
Democratic Rep. Joe Morelle of New York, the ranking member on the Committee on House Administration called the firing an “ignorant decision” that “will impact America’s libraries, our copyrighted economic interests, and service to the American people by threatening support for Congress. His decision is a complete disgrace.”
