One Handwriting Expert Spotted Something Very Telling With Donald Trump’s Use Of “Straight Lines” In His Signature
You’re likely seeing lots of Donald Trump’s signature lately, thanks to his many recent executive orders. His autograph is pretty hard to miss — it’s angular, harsh and pretty gigantic. Handwriting analysts, also known as graphologists, say they can glean personality insights from his writing.

But, much like other professions that claim to decipher one’s personality through things that aren’t direct personality analysis, it’s hotly debated whether handwriting analysis is actually a real way to understand a person.
Graphology is sometimes considered to be a pseudoscience, meaning something that claims to be based in fact but isn’t actually. But the graphologists who spoke to HuffPost disagree with that characterization of the field and say the way a person’s letters ****** or curve and the direction of their pen strokes can reveal a lot about anyone, including Trump.
According to Valerie Weil, a graphologist and handwriting analysis teacher based in Georgia, graphology was lumped in with occult sciences in the Dewey Decimal System, which damaged its credibility. “That was wrong. That was absolutely wrong because it is not occult sciences, it’s behavioral sciences, which is more psychology,” Weil added.

“And it was in 1980 that … the Library of Congress changed that and moved us out of the occult sciences and put us into three different fields,” Weil said. “We’re in forensics, we are in human resource personnel selection and we’re in diagnostic psychologies. So we are in three different fields. We’re no longer listed in the occult.”
And while there are studies that find flaws in graphology, there are also studies that support its methods, said Sheila Lowe, a forensic handwriting examiner and author in California.
Our current president even once claimed that he himself is a handwriting analyst in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). We asked graphologists to take a look at Trump’s handwriting and his signature and share what his writing indicates in terms of his personality.

It’s up to you whether you want to believe that graphology unveils parts of someone’s character, but the graphologists we spoke to say our writing, and Trump’s writing, speaks volumes. Here’s what they told us.
Overall, a signature shows how you want to be viewed by others — and in Trump’s case, that means a few very specific things.

Signatures represent how you hope to be seen by others, said Weil, and not how you feel about yourself or how you relate to those around you. (That’s where analysis of your actual handwriting comes in.)
“There’s a lot of practice to signatures, and remember, that’s the one thing that you write more consistently throughout your lifetime than anything else. You write your signature over and over and over again,” added Weil.
When it comes to Trump’s signature, Weil noted that the letters largely look the same, so it’s difficult to make out the individual characters in his signature. “The ambiguity behind his signature says that you never really get to know the real me. He keeps that more private,” Weil said.

“He wants to be seen as strong and bold and somebody that you don’t mess with. That’s what I get from that signature,” Lowe noted.
This can be seen in the lack of space between the letters and words in his signature, Lowe said. Its compact nature is conserving and controlling the space, she noted.
“So, this is somebody who has a strong need to feel like he’s in control of his environment, which can make him come on strong in protecting that so this is manifested by the way he acts in an authoritarian manner, dominating the environment, just taking over,” Lowe noted.
The size of certain letters is telling, too. “The largest capital letter is the ‘T’ and Trump, which says that there’s some favoritism on a family name,” Weil said, and added that the “J” in his middle name is almost hidden.

“But as far as where he puts the prominence, he is very comfortable with being associated with the Trump family. And … some people will have a larger first name then a smaller surname — those are people that want to be recognized for who they were rather than who the family is,” Weil noted.
There are lots of angles and straight lines in his signature, which also mean a few things.

“Everything in handwriting is symbolic, really, and so we look at whether the lines are curved or the lines are straight, and when there’s a lot of straight lines, as in his case, it’s a lot of aggression there and possibly anger and things like that,” Lowe said.
By contrast, curved writing tends to signify emotion, Lowe explained. “So, what we look for, hopefully, is a balance — but there is no balance in that signature,” Lowe said.

The angles in his signature show that he’s analytical and intelligent, said Weil, but it also signifies a sharpness and shortness.

“The main thing that I see when I look at his signature is the impatience. It’s fast. It’s moving. He does not like to look back. He does not like to have to double-check himself. He’s very insistent, almost to the point of arrogance. In this way, he likes a competition,” Weil said.
This has to do with the angularity, in addition to the heaviness of the downstrokes, she said. This shows determination while the pressure of the lines shows the depth of his insistence, Weil added.
To go deeper, it’s important to look at his handwriting, in addition to his signature.

Lowe equated signatures to the cover of a book — they’re outward-facing yet don’t tell the full story, which is where handwriting, which can paint a full picture, comes in and Trump’s handwriting and signature vary greatly, both experts said.
His handwriting, as seen here in a note to former basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, tends to be pretty boxy, which holds meaning.

“The body of the text is a kind of a squarish form, and square handwriting, especially in this case, are a sign of a deep need for security,” Lowe said. “And that doesn’t necessarily mean financial security, although it may, but it just means that person is always kind of focused internally on building.”
“A person with this kind of need for security, you have to think, ‘Why? He’s got more money than God. Why does he need security?’ Because he’s never felt secure emotionally. And so that comes out in other ways,” Lowe added.
The ****** to his writing is significant, too.

When looking at Trump’s handwriting in particular, Lowe noticed that he tends to write on a diagonal, which is seen in examples like the above note to Abdul-Jabbar and in a message to the Police Officers Association of Michigan.
“Whenever he can, he writes on a diagonal, and it’s kind of a rebellious thing, you know? I’m going to do things my own way because other people don’t normally do that,” Lowe said.
In addition to writing on a diagonal, his signature tends to be slanted, which signifies that he’s outgoing, said Weil.
Experts say the ‘communication letters’ in his handwriting are obstructed, which is telling.

“The other thing that’s important about his writing is that there’s usually a little hook shape in many of the ovals, the ‘Os,’ and that … in handwriting analysis, that is generally considered a sign of somebody who is less than truthful,” said Lowe.
O’s are considered communication letters. “They should be open and clear, clear communication, but when there’s interference in there, stuff that doesn’t belong, it interferes with clear communication,” Lowe noted.
His use of a thick, felt pen speaks volumes, too.

“He always uses, I mean, virtually always uses, a thick felt pen,” Lowe said.
Not only do the thick, broad and dark lines give a feeling of power, but you “can have all the emphasis without a lot of the work,” said Weil. Meaning, you don’t need much pressure to create a bold line.
Lowe said folks who often use a thick felt pen “like all the trappings of the good life.”
“I know he doesn’t drink, but in general, fine wine and good food and strong colors and things like that, but without putting a lot of energy into getting them. They just want it to come easily,” Lowe noted.
“I like to say that handwriting reveals a lot of really important information about a person, but it doesn’t tell everything,” Lowe said. “We can’t say, ‘Oh yeah, I can tell everything about you from your handwriting,’ but there are certain things — those social skills, or social style, intellectual style, state of the ego … but we certainly can’t tell all your specific secrets.”
Trump’s personality is his and his alone, just like his handwriting and signature. You can choose to read into the meaning behind his writing style or let his direct actions inform your thoughts on his personality. Nonetheless, though, both his bold signature and his bristly personality appear intentional.

SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Gen 3: one-minute review
The SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 is a compact analog keyboard that promises incredibly responsive performance courtesy of its analog switches. Its looks don’t exactly reflect its gaming prowess, but it’s smart and sleek enough to adorn any setup. The ****** colorway is a little austere, but this is alleviated somewhat by the vibrant RGB backlighting.
Once you get your hands on it, though, you start to realize this is a premium slice of engineering. It’s reasonably light considering how solid it feels, and the double-shot PBT keycaps have a more textured finish than usual, which feels great under the fingertips. Even the included detachable USB cable is made to a high standard.
As you would expect from any of the best gaming keyboards, numerous customization options are available via the SteelSeries GG software – or more specifically, the Engine section within this app. It hurts usability somewhat that Engine opens in a separate window to GG, but this is a minor gripe.

Alongside the typical RGB tweaks and macro creation features, there are a healthy selection of rebinding options, with plenty of media and system shortcuts available, with various adjustable parameters for binding behavior.
Naturally there are various alterations for actuation, with points settable between 0.1mm and 4mm, which is a generous range of travel. You can also toggle rapid trigger and protection modes, while various SOCD settings (called rapid tap here) and dual binding features are available in addition.
This makes Engine a versatile tool and one that’s easy to use, thanks to its clear layout and useful explanations. The visualizer for key actuation, though, doesn’t respond in real time, which is a drawback.
The Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 excels when it comes to performance. Presses are very tactile and rebound fast, imbuing it with a pleasingly snappy feel, which is great for both gaming and typing.
Hitting certain actuation points is easy too, thanks to the satisfying resistance to the keys which impart just enough feedback without disrupting its light touch.
It’s also comfortable to use, thanks to the indentations of the keycaps, which make it a very tactile board to use while still allowing for easy gliding. The bottom row is very accessible too, especially the space bar, with its low profile making for consistent hits with the tip of your thumb, rather than the edge.
What’s more, the tilt angle, especially when used with the very stable two-stage feet, gave me a comfortable position for typing as well as gaming – although for very long sessions, I would still benefit from using a wrist rest.
The Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 is certainly an expensive keyboard, especially when you consider its small 60% layout and lack of wireless connectivity. However, there’s no denying this is premium hardware, and it performs as well as you could hope an analog board would.
There are a few much cheaper alternatives out there that come quite close to rivaling its performance, but the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 is hard to beat if you want the absolute best analog performance.

The Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 costs $179.99 / £174.99 (about AU$282) and is available now in ****** only. It comes with a detachable USB-A-to-C cable and a keycap puller. It’s one of the more expensive analog keyboards around – especially when you consider its compact 60% layout and wired-only connectivity.
If you’re looking for a much cheaper alternative, the MonsGeek FUN60 Ultra is admirably close to the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 in terms of performance, yet also features multiple wireless connectivity modes. What’s more, it uses TMR rather than the Hall effect sensors of the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3, which are considered more accurate, although in truth I couldn’t discern a difference. MonsGeek’s software provides a few more features than Engine, but it suffers from a few usability issues.
Another viable option for budget hunters is the Gamakay TK75HE V2. This is similarly cheap for an analog keyboard, but again comes close to rivaling the performance of more expensive models, including the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3. What’s more, it has a larger 75% layout, which might be more useful for those looking for some productivity prowess as well. However, like the FUN60 Ultra, its software isn’t the best from a usability perspective.

The Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 doesn’t push the boat out aesthetically. It adopts a rather functional design that’s inoffensive but still sleek enough to work in any environment. The RGB backlighting also helps to offset the somewhat gloomy ****** finish.
It’s very well made, and the build quality is certainly level with the best keyboards around. It’s quite light for a board that feels this solid and durable, and the double-shot PBT keycaps are an especial highlight, with more texture than others, but feel great under the fingertips. What’s more, their indentations were a perfect fit for my fingers, which improved their tactility and security when hammering away.
The tilt of the layout ensures a comfortable typing position, which is further aided by the two stage feet, which are incredibly stable and offer meaningful differences in angle. This made the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 comfortable for me despite its lack of wrist support; although for longer sessions, I would still prefer to use a rest with the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3.
The Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 doesn’t have an Fn key; instead, you get SteelSeries’ Meta key, which functions in much the same way. There are numerous useful shortcuts available, including those for adjusting actuation points, rapid trigger and other analog functions.
What’s more, these shortcuts are labelled on the keys themselves, which is very helpful, especially on a compact board such as this, lacking as it does arrow keys, a dedicated F row, and the like.

The Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 can be further customized using SteelSeries GG – or more specifically, the Engine app within GG. It’s a little inconvenient that the latter opens in a separate window to the former, but this is a small complaint.
You’ll find the usual customizations on offer in Engine, with a generous selection of rebinding options available, including plenty of media and system shortcuts. Five configuration slots are available, and there are even preset configurations for certain games, including one for Counter-Strike 2 created by esports brand FaZe Clan.
Being an analog board, there are plenty of actuation adjustments as well. The actuation point can be set between 0.1 and 4mm, and there’s a rapid trigger toggle with its own accompanying slider to adjust sensitivity within the same range.
A protection mode is also available, which reduces the sensitivity of adjacent keys to prevent mispresses. An SOCD feature called rapid tap is present as well, with different key priority behaviors to choose from when two are pressed simultaneously: you can choose which key always has priority, let whichever is pressed last take precedence, or make neither register. There’s also a dual binding mode, although it’s a little annoying that there’s a separate window for setting up dual actuation first, since both rely on each other.
Overall, however, Engine is laid out clearly and features useful explanations for its various features and settings. However, the visualizer for key actuation is severely lacking, as it doesn’t illustrate presses in real time, which I would’ve appreciated so I could see exactly how my tweaks manifest themselves in practice.

The Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 is an excellent performer on pretty much every front. The keys are very light and springy, yet still offer enough dampening and weight lower down in their travel, which helps to provide feedback.
Actuation points are also easy to hit thanks to the tactile switches and relatively long key travel. The space bar is also a highlight thanks to its very satisfying response, and its low profile makes it very easy to hit flush with your thumb tip rather than the edge. In fact, the whole of the bottom row is easy to use, thanks to the slightly concave layout and keycap indentations.
When typing, these indentations are especially useful, offering plenty of security while still allowing for easy gliding around the board. Also, the amount of Meta shortcuts available to access functions reserved for larger layouts makes the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 more viable for mild productivity purposes.

I tested the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 for a few days, during which time I used it for gaming and working, on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems.
I played Counter-Strike 2, a great game for testing peripherals, given it requires fast and precise inputs. It’s especially useful when playing with analog keyboards, since the need for controlled micro-movements provides the perfect testing ground for the rapid trigger functionality.
I’ve been PC gaming for over a decade, and during that time I have experienced a great deal of keyboards. I’ve also reviewed a number of them, including other analog and SteelSeries models.

With stocks on the path toward a “V”-shaped recovery, Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee sees a handful of names worth grabbing. Stocks have staged a recovery rally since selling off on the initial unveiling of President Donald Trump’s plan for steep tariffs last month. The latest leg up came on Monday after the U.S. and China agree to slash tariffs for 90 days following weekend trade negotiations. “Equities have staged a V-shaped recovery, which is what we argued would take place as this is the pattern after a waterfall decline in stocks,” Lee wrote to clients in a Monday note. “And despite the continued improving news flow, investors remain skeptical, which is positive.” The S & P 500 briefly dipped into bear-market territory — which marks a decline of at least 20% from a recent high — amid the initial bout of panic selling. Now, the broad index is up more than 2% since April 2, when Trump first unveiled the broad levies. .SPX YTD mountain S & P 500, year to date Lee told CNBC on Monday that the market’s movement in a “waterfall” formation after the tariff announcement signaled a “V”-shaped recovery would be ahead. That’s because most waterfall slides historically in the market give way to a “V” rather than a “W,” which would mean stocks might be in for another significant decline. “The stock market did have a liquidation event,” Lee said on CNBC’s ” Power Lunch .” “But waterfall declines — all …17 out of 18 since 1950 — had a V-shaped recovery. So we knew that whenever the bottom was established, the bottom would be a V shape.” Despite these reasons for optimism, Lee noted that traders continue to show high levels of pessimism. He pointed to the American Association of Individual Investors’ sentiment survey , which last showed more than 51% of members being bearish of the stock market over the next half-year. “At some point, the macro skeptics will have to acknowledge that conditions are improving,” he wrote to clients. “Markets can look through a weak quarter or two due to trade disruptions.” ‘Washed out’ plays With confirmation signals favoring the “V”-shaped recovery and the bull market showing it can stay intact, Lee compiled a list of “washed out” large-cap stocks that investors can consider picking up amid the rebound. The idea is that equities likely saw most of the pain between mid-February and early April, so investors should look for names that struggled before the tariff-induced plunge. Tariffs may have just given stocks the final leg down to reset and then recover, he said. To find these picks, Lee screened for stocks with market caps above $15 billion that declined more than 30% before Feb. 18 . Mid-February was the last time the S & P 500 traded at all-time highs. He then looked for stocks that didn’t make new closing lows between April 1 and 8, the ******* containing Trump’s initial announcement that sent stocks cratering. Stocks must also be currently down more than 25% from respective 52-week highs to make the list. Here’s 10 large-cap names that made the cut: Lululemon was one name that met the criteria. The athletic wear retailer has tumbled more than 21% in 2025, but surged more than 7% amid Monday’s rally. The majority of analysts polled by LSEG have buy ratings on the stock. The typical price target implies shares can gain 11.5% over the next year. Elsewhere, Super Micro Computer was one of several tech stocks on the list. Super Micro shares have jumped nearly 10% despite 2025’s rough start, helped in part by Monday’s gain of more than 4%. The typical analyst has a hold rating on the stock, per LSEG. However, the average price target reflects the potential for shares to run up more than 20%.

Even with President Trump reaching a breakthrough trade deal with China, many companies haven’t been able to avoid the sting of tariffs. One of the industries that has the most focus is automakers. This is because tariffs specifically affect physical goods rather than services.
For an industry selling expensive physical goods, tariffs can lead to an extensive increase in costs. This can put significant pressure on margins or hurt demand if a company decides to pass these costs on to the consumer. This is exactly what is happening to two of the automakers discussed below. However, tariffs do not impact all car companies in the same way. Two other automakers continue to thrive amid tariffs.
There is some evidence that European and U.S. tariffs may be backfiring on the lawmakers who imposed them. All return data is as of the May 9 close.

Toyota (NYSE:) released its fiscal Q4 2025 earnings on May 8. Along with the release, the company detailed the level of damage it expected tariffs to have on its business in the coming months.
Toyota believes that tariffs will reduce the company’s operating income by $1.3 billion in April and May alone.
At first, this may not sound like a massive impact, considering that Toyota generated nearly $85 billion in adjusted revenue last quarter.
However, margins in the automotive industry tend to be low due to the vast costs of making cars and intense competition. Even with almost $85 billion in revenue, Toyota made only around $7.6 billion in operating profit.
Thus, $1.2 billion would be a significant profit hit in just two months.
Overall, the company expects operating profit to fall by nearly 21% in fiscal 2026, largely due to the impact of U.S. tariffs.
2. General Motors Today
In a nod to the idea of tariff backfire, a company expecting to take an even larger haircut is the American automaker General Motors (NYSE:).
GM cites a tariff impact of between $4 billion and $5 billion in 2025.
This caused the company to lower the midpoint of its adjusted operating profit guidance by nearly $3.5 billion.
That essentially equals wiping its total Q1 2025 adjusted operating profit off the books.
Overall, $3.5 billion is equal to 24% of the adjusted operating profit the company generated over the last 12 months.
GM stock is down nearly 11% in 2025, while Toyota is down almost 4%, reflecting the difficult market in which these companies are operating.
The Winners: BYD and Ferrari Shares Hit the Accelerator
1. BYD Today
On the other side of the equation, two foreign car companies are performing incredibly well in 2025. One of those companies is the ******** EV maker BYD (OTC:). China is one of Tesla’s largest markets, and sales are dropping.
Meanwhile, BYD saw its sales increase by 21% in April. BYD doesn’t sell cars in America, so it doesn’t have to worry about tariffs on that front.
However, China is one of Tesla’s largest markets. Due to tariffs, Tesla (NASDAQ:) has stopped selling some U.S.-made cars to China. This has helped give BYD a leg up in its home market.
Something similar is happening in Europe. In Germany, BYD sales rose over 385% in the first four months of the year, compared to Tesla’s sales drop of 60%. BYD is shifting its European focus to plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) rather than EVs.
This is because it has to pay significantly lower tariffs on PHEVs than EVs in the European Union. BYD has achieved an astonishingly good return in 2025 of approximately 46%.
2. Ferrari Today
Another carmaker doing well amid tariffs is Ferrari NV (NYSE:). The company is forecasting only a 50 basis point hit to its adjusted operating margin.
Especially for a company like Ferrari, that is almost insignificant.
Due to its costly vehicles, Ferrari enjoys one of the most significant operating margins of any car company. Last quarter, the figure came in at over 30%. Ferrari’s stock has done very well this year, up around 16%.
Overall, the calculation of tariffs is far from simple.
As evidenced above, what lawmakers think may play out when imposing these regulations can be far different from what actually happens. Investors should also take note of this.

Kobi Macharia Dooly was found with multiple cuts in his cotbed, the court heard [Met Police]
A mother killed her four-year-old son in east London by stabbing him dozens of times hours after collecting the boy from school, a court has heard.
Kobi Dooly-Macharia was found by officers in December 2023 in his cot with dozens of knife wounds, Inner London Crown Court heard on Monday.
Keziah Macharia, 43, has been charged with murdering Kobi, but she has been deemed unfit to stand trial.
Mrs Justice Thornton is holding a “fact-finding hearing” to decide if Macharia killed Kobi, but not if she murdered him.
She told jurors not to “consider her state of mind and whether she is at fault”, which would be needed for a ******* verdict.
Outlining the background to the case, Prosecutor Mukul Chawla KC said Ben Dooly and Macharia started a relationship after meeting in 2018 and their son Kobi was born in September 2019.
The couple lived together with Kobi in Macharia’s first-floor flat in Montague Road, Hackney, but the relationship deteriorated after his birth, he added.
Mr Dooly moved out and started sleeping on the sofa two or three days a week but this ended after he met his current girlfriend, Sasha Sasheva, the court heard.

Macharia was “very unhappy” with Kobi spending any time with Ms Sasheva, Mr Chawla said, adding Ms Sasheva blocked Macharia on her phone and on social media because of messages she received.
Mr Dooly last saw Kobi alive at his school nativity play the day before the alleged attack, jurors heard.
CCTV played to the court showed Macharia collecting her son from Nightingale Primary School where Kobi could be seen leaving wearing a coat and carrying a red balloon, accompanied by Macharia.
“You see nothing of distress or anything out of the ordinary in terms of her demeanour”, the prosecutor said.
He added: “It appears that at some point that evening the defendant started drinking alcohol; when she started drinking and how much she drank cannot be established”.
The court heard later that evening Macharia sent a series of WhatsApp messages to Mr Dooly – with the final one saying “Kobi is dead”.
Police were then contacted and jurors were shown body-worn footage from officers taken on the night as they broke the door in on Macharia’s home.
Jurors were shown footage of Macharia in blood-stained clothes sitting on the living room floor in front of the sofa.
Police were heard asking “who did this?” and Mr Chawla said “she raises her hand to her chest, acknowledging it was her”.
Officers documented her saying she tried to take an overdose and harm herself, the prosecutor added.
Macharia was taken to Stoke Newington Police station and had “a very blunted muted affect” and intermittently sobbed, Mr Chawla said.
“She told officers repeatedly she just wanted her baby back, and she just wanted to see his sweet face”, he added.
The trial continues.

Game Informer readers! I’m excited to return to work today after seven amazing weeks of paternity leave to learn the ropes of parenting alongside my beautiful wife and newborn baby girl. I’m approximately 37 minutes into my shift at the time of writing and counting every second until I’m off and can give all my free time to my daughter. That’s because I’ve already begun her journey into video games. First by osmosis, but more recently, by getting her hands on the controller. You might say six weeks old is too young, and to that I say: Good luck to your kid trying to beat my daughter in Super Smash Bros. one day!
As a new father who also games, I thought I’d share the knowledge I’ve learned about gaming with an infant these past few weeks, specifically, the worst games to play with a newborn at home. Everybody is different, but if you’re at home with a newborn, I’d caution against playing these particular titles.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Before you write me off for putting this on this list, please understand I thoroughly enjoyed my 40-plus hours with it. That doesn’t mean it’s a great game to play with a newborn at home. If you haven’t played it, skip this entry because I will spoil the beginning. The central premise behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is that every year, the mysterious Paintress paints a new number on a massive monolith in the world. That number has decreased by one yearly since the Paintress’ start, and at the beginning of the game, we witness something known as the Gommage.
The Gommage happens every year, and when it does, anyone of the age currently listed on the Paintress’ monolith dies, or rather, goes the way of Peter Parker in Avengers: Infinity War. They dissipate into flakes of an ash-like substance, disappearing from the world and their loved ones forever. There’s a lot more happening, but for the purpose of this entry, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 begins with a Gommage where loved ones watch their lovers, parents, children, and friends die. It turns out holding your barely-a-few-weeks-old newborn during this scene is incredibly heartbreaking as you think about what it’d be like to be Gommage’d away from her. It was here that I realized media will make me cry a lot easier now (and I was already an easy crier before).
Doom: The Dark Ages
Though it’s not out until later this week on May 15 (though if you cough up extra money, you can jump in starting tonight, so really, it’s out today), I was lucky enough to receive a pre-release code to Doom: The Dark Ages. My excitement came crashing down about five minutes after starting the game when I realized the continuous sounds of bullets ripping flesh, shields parrying attacks, and very loud (and pretty good) metal music blaring through my speakers aren’t appreciated the same by my daughter. In fact, this cacophony of sound mixing actively goes against the calm, peaceful, serene environment my wife and I try to cultivate for her. Doom: The Dark Ages is now an exclusively headphones-on game in the LeBlanc household.
Literally Any VR Game
I don’t even have a game to list here because I never made it as far as starting one. I put on my VR headset and then realized it’s hard to use two handheld controllers while holding a child. It doesn’t help that I literally couldn’t see or hear her either, I guess.
Elden Ring
You’re probably thinking, “Ooof yeah, any game without a proper pause button would be tough with a newborn,” right now, and you’d be right. But being unable to pause mid-boss fight because my daughter needs her diaper changed isn’t why Elden Ring is on this list. No, Elden Ring straight up sucks to play when the player you summonto help you defeat one of the game’s many challenging bosses is terrible. I knew it’d be a challenge considering my daughter doesn’t understand how her hands work yet, but sheesh, she really has no clue how to dodge, parry (or even block with a shield, for that matter), or use a basic attack. She was useless as a summoned co-op partner, and considering bosses get extra health when you bring another player in, summoning my daughter to help defeat a boss was actively harder than doing it solo. Lesson learned.
Fortnite
I love Fortnite. I hate Fortnite. It is a game I can’t pull myself away from, despite the psychic damage it constantly causes me when I’m one kill away from the Victory Royale and fail to clutch it. The adrenaline spike that occurs brings me back, match after match, chasing the dub.
So let me paint you a scene: I’ve got 13 kills. My daughter has zero – that’s okay, that’s fine, I’m carrying us both quite well. I’m looting the last building in the circle. There’s one other player left, and they sneak up on me and take me out. For whatever reason, they don’t fully kill me, meaning my daughter can revive me if she can sneak over without being caught (because she’d likely not defeat this other player in a 1v1 shootout). She finally arrives, and though she’s three feet away from me in-game, she’s stuck walking into a wall. I look over in real life, and she’s gnawing on the left stick on a DualSense controller – no wonder she’s blowing it. I tell her to clutch up, get in the game, and revive me.
She ignores me completely and doesn’t even look my way. Moments later, the last enemy player stumbles upon her and takes her out. We lose. I cry. She gnaws. I do not see dubs in my future if she continues this behavior.
Final Fantasy XIII
I love Final Fantasy XIII. It is my favorite Final Fantasy. It is a game I always think about, and I desperately want Square Enix to bring it to PlayStation 5 because it is the only mainline entry in the series not available on the console. When you have a child, there’s a certain high you get from the dopamine dumps your brain is constantly delivering as you kiss your baby, cuddle her, and think about the life you hope to give her. I figured, “Why not pair those dopamine dumps with a game I love so much?”
To my annoyed surprise, it took my daughter about two hours into Final Fantasy XIII to tell me the game is just a “hallway simulator.”
I tried explaining to her that another beloved entry in the series, Final Fantasy X, is also corridor-like in its design, and nobody complains about that in the same way! She didn’t care, adding, “Yeah, but it’s Final Fantasy X.” Okay?? God forbid a father like a game about sisterhood, romance, and the inevitability of death that features incredible music, slick visuals, and a fun combat system.

The stock market is usually a pretty efficient mechanism for pricing in an economy’s future expectations. In the case of the , its mere size and liquidity usually give investors a pretty good gauge of where the future of the United States economy might be headed. However, occasionally, some market constituents will disconnect from the broader market to provide upside opportunities for investors to take advantage of.
These opportunities come in the form of discounts that, when caught in time, can make for decent additional upside in portfolios with relatively low risk profiles and a smooth ride even if the market (like today) experiences elevated periods of volatility. With this in mind, there are three stocks for investors to keep in mind for this dynamic, as trade tariff uncertainties are certain to die down eventually.
These disconnects from underlying value and quality fundamentals can be found in names like Cleveland-Cliffs (NYSE:) Inc., Wayfair Inc (NYSE:)., and even Reddit Inc (NYSE:). to give investors the right mix between the technology sector and a healthy weight in retail as well as industrial trends for the United States economy, all with unique reasons to have a new potential rally around the corner.
1. The Worst Is Priced Into Cleveland-Cliffs Stock
Shares of this steelmaker have fallen to a low of 39% of their 52-week high levels, presumably pricing in some of the worst-case scenarios that could turn out for the United States’ industrial sector. The trade tariff uncertainty might have brought this on, rolled out by President Trump in recent weeks.
With this in mind, it would seem that the stock has no more downside room left, especially as the effect of tariffs will inevitably subside and clear the flow of new steel orders coming out of these factories, directly benefiting the underlying earnings in stocks like Cleveland-Cliffs.
Therefore, the risk-to-reward ratio in this name significantly favors the bulls. More specifically, Wall Street analysts now agree on a consensus price target of $15.5 per share, which implies a net upside of as much as 121% from today’s low prices, making a deeply undervalued stock with strong rebound potential.
2. Capital Warms Up to Wayfair
Now that real estate seems to be nearing a potential bottom this cycle, some investors might be looking to catch an early rebound and uptrend in lateral areas like furnishing for homes to heat up by the time housing starts to pick back up again. This is where Wayfair stock comes into play.
Knowing that this stock, now that it trades at a low 43% of its 52-week high level, some capital has started to flow into this thesis, understanding that this is just another favorable risk-to-reward ratio favoring the buyers. As of May 2025, allocators from Charles Schwab (NYSE:) decided to boost their Wayfair stock holdings by as much as 0.3% to express this view.
While this may not sound like much on a percentage basis, it brought the group’s net position to a high of $32.4 million today, giving investors a significantly optimistic pillar to lean on for their bullish views. Just like Cleveland-Cliffs, these institutional buyers weren’t the only ones willing to take on risk for this view.
Analysts from Mizuho decided to reiterate their Outperform ratings on Wayfair stock and place a price target of up to $50 per share on it. This implies as much as a 53% upside from where the stock has fallen to today, another significant level of upside to be considered in this undervalued basket of stocks.
3. Reddit’s Growth Is Undervalued
Shares of Reddit fell to follow the underlying theme in the rest of today’s list, as they have fallen to 47% of their 52-week high levels. Considering the company’s latest quarterly earnings results will help investors realize that today’s stock price is far removed from the financial performance this name has reported.
Understanding that Reddit now plays a large role in the buildout of large language models (LLMs) in the world of artificial intelligence, as it sells the naturally generated text from users on its platforms to larger platforms in the technology space, has drawn significant interest.
Investors from the Vanguard Group justified an 11.1% boost in Reddit stock holdings to build up a stake of as much as $1.1 billion today, or 5.6% ownership in the company, to showcase even more confidence in the company’s future. These factors would also explain why Citigroup analysts kept a Buy rating on Reddit stock, along with a $158 valuation, to call for a 46% upside from today’s massive discount.

The tentative U.S.-China trade deal brought a fresh wave of optimism to Wall Street that President Donald Trump won’t let this year’s damage to the stock market get out of control.
An idea of a “Trump put” regained steam following more than a month of hard-to-digest volatility brought on by the president’s trade war. For Trump, it has been an uncharacteristic disengagement from Wall Street happenings considering how much emphasis he put on financial markets during his first term.
Investors for now at least can take some comfort that the White House is on their side, even if the mood during the strong rally held a dose of trepidation.
“There is optimism floating out there amongst the icebergs of uncertainty that the president won’t let this get out of hand and throw us into a recession,” said Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA. “We have to realize that the uncertainty has not been totally cleared away. We can breathe a sigh of relief, because we have now another 90-day pause *******.”
Following the weekend announcement that the dueling parties had suspended reciprocal tariffs pending a 90-day negotiating *******, major averages rallied, posting better than 2% gains across the board. The Russell 2000 small-cap index, which had taken the brunt of the tariff beating, surged more than 3%.

The move followed a familiar pattern during Trump’s trade war. Markets have been intensely sensitive to headline risk that seems to come on a daily basis.
Even with the big Monday rally, there was still a strong hint of caution on the Street.
“We have to realize that the uncertainty has not been totally cleared away,” Stovall said. “We all know that both countries don’t want a trade war, but they don’t want to lose face at the same time.”
Subject to change
The face-saving nature of the ongoing negotiations, with neither side wanting to cave, underscores the fragile state of the Trump trade initiative and the perils that could await should the mercurial president again change his mind about what he’s seeking.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC in a Monday morning interview that he expects negotiations to resume in the next few weeks. He also noted the U.S. position that it seeks a “strategic” decoupling from China and remains serious in its resolve on the fentanyl portion of the tariffs.
However, having a market veteran like Bessent at the helm of negotiations is assuaging concerns that talks could go off the rails, said Dario Perkins, managing director of global macro strategy at TS Lombard.
“Talk of ‘trade deals’ has helped undo the damage from [the April 2] Liberation Day – equities have bounced even with tariffs much higher than at the start of the year, and with massive uncertainty about what the next six months will bring,” Perkins said in a client note. “It helps that Scott Bessent has become the main spokesman for Trump 2.0. He has a real talent for sanewashing policies to make them look intellectually coherent and ‘market friendly.'”
Still, Perkins sees reason to step cautiously. He expects essentially a “muddle-through” scenario from here.
“I’m not saying the bull case is totally out of reach,” he said. “Trump clearly wants quick ‘deals,’ even phony ones. Both the *** and China deals are more spin than substance. But a muddle-through scenario does seem likely.”
Indeed, markets face other obstacles beyond the trade gyrations. Barclays strategists say they are “neutral risk assets” given those headwinds. “Attention should now shift away from policy to hard data, with inflation in primary focus,” Barclays said in a note.
Among other headwinds are weaker expected economic growth, lower corporate profits and a likelihood that the Federal Reserve could be slower to lower interest rates if tariffs don’t pose an imminent recession threat.
Already Monday, traders pushed the next Fed rate cut further out, now to September, with only two reductions expected by the end of 2025. That’s down from three cuts predicted.
Even with trade deals, there will only be so much Trump can do to help the market.
It is “(sort of) of funny that the optimistic case for Trump 2.0 is basically that it will reverse most of what it has done so far,” Perkins said.

Zooming out, Dutch Bros stock has rallied by as much as 76.2% over the past 12 months, a feat that likely drove more traders to bet on continuing such momentum into the future. All things considered, investors need to benchmark this performance to something other than the broader S&P 500 index, more like a close peer instead.
Compared to shares of Starbucks (NASDAQ:) Co., Dutch Bros stock has outperformed by as much as 25% over the past quarter alone, signaling significant strength over one of the biggest names in the coffee industry. Of course, there is a big reason to consider behind this outperformance, and likely the bullish thesis these traders took on.
Breaking Down Value in Dutch Bros
When looking at the company’s financials, investors can see that Dutch Bros reports up to 26.3% in gross profit margin, which, compared to the 25% reported by Starbucks, should get a lot of investors excited about this smaller $10.4 billion company versus Starbucks’ much larger $91.2 billion market capitalization.
Consumers who have tried both brands can also notice a few divergences between the quick-oriented services in Dutch Bros and the often collapsed drive-through lines at Starbucks, not to mention the massive divergence in prices. While coffee is often a recession-proof item, there is likely a limit to how much people would be willing to pay for it.
This is where Dutch Bros’s lower price focus beats Starbucks’ during an economic environment that has made the average consumer much more budget-conscious. Keeping these factors front and center might have driven some of these call option buyers to flow into the stock, though they weren’t alone.
As of May 2025, allocators from Deutsche Bank decided to boost their holdings in Dutch Bros stock by as much as 12.2%, bringing their net position to a high of $37.8 million today. This supports a higher price thesis for investors to consider.
The Markets Like Dutch Bros Here
Now that the stock trades at only 73% of its 52-week high price, this name becomes a reasonable acquisition target for those willing to look deeper into it. The first sign many view comes from the recent changes coming out of Barclays analysts, who reiterated their Overweight rating for Dutch Bros and placed a higher valuation on it.
Seeing the company’s fair value at $82 per share would call for it to flirt back with its 52-week high prices, as well as imply a net rally of as much as 30% from where it trades today. This setup (which clearly favors the bulls) had a negative effect on the bears out there.
Over the past month, Dutch Bros stock’s short interest declined by as much as 9.8% to show signs of bearish capitulation as the risk-to-reward ratio stops making sense for the short side, especially as these traders joined the party on stronger financials and a clear path higher with the current momentum.

Trump order demands US medicine industry cuts prices
US President Donald Trump has signed a wide-reaching executive order directing drug makers to lower the prices of their medicines to align with what other countries pay that analysts and legal experts say could be difficult to implement.
The order gives drug makers price targets in the next 30 days, and will take further action to lower prices if those companies do not make “significant progress” towards those goals within six months of the order being signed.
Trump told a press conference that the government would impose tariffs on companies if the prices in the US did not match those in other countries and said he was seeking cuts of between 59 per cent and 90 per cent.
“Everybody should equalise. Everybody should pay the same price,” Trump said.
Investors were sceptical about the order’s implementation, and shares -which had been down overnight on the threat of “most favoured nation” pricing – recovered and rose in early morning trade on Monday.
The United States pays the highest prices for prescription drugs, often nearly three times more than other developed countries.
Trump tried in his first term to bring the United States in line with other countries but was blocked by the courts.
Trump’s drug pricing proposal comes as the president has sought to fulfil a campaign promise of tackling inflation and lowering prices for a host of everyday items, from eggs to petrol.
Trump said his order on drug prices was partly a result of a conversation with an unnamed friend who told the president he got a weight loss injection for $US88 ($A138) in London and that the same injection in the US cost $US1300.
If drug makers do not meet the government’s expectations, it will use rule making to bring drug prices to international levels and consider a range of other measures, including importing medicines from other developed countries and implementing export restrictions, a copy of the order showed.
Trade groups representing biotech and pharmaceutical decried the move.
“Importing foreign prices from socialist countries would be a bad deal for American patients and workers. It would mean less treatments and cures and would jeopardise the hundreds of billions our member companies are planning to invest in America,” PhRMA CEO Stephen Ubl said in a statement.
Ubl said the real reasons for high drug prices are other “countries not paying their fair share and middlemen driving up prices for US patients”.
The order also directs the US Federal Trade Commission to consider aggressive enforcement against what the government calls anti-competitive practices by drug makers.
“We’re all familiar with some of the places where pharmaceutical companies push the limits to prevent competition that would lower their prices,” one White House official said, pointing to patent protections and deals drug makers make with generic companies to hold off on cheaper copies.
The executive order is likely to face legal challenges, particularly for exceeding limits set by US law, including on imports of drugs from abroad, health policy lawyer Paul Kim said.
“The order’s suggestion of broader or direct-to-consumer importation stretches well beyond what the statute allows,” Kim said.
The FTC has a long history of antitrust enforcement actions against pharmaceutical and other healthcare companies.
“President Donald Trump campaigned on lowering drug costs and today he’s doing just that. Americans are tired of getting ripped off. The Federal Trade Commission will be a proud partner in this new effort,” FTC spokesman Joe Simonson said.
The executive order differed from what drug makers had been expecting.
Four lobbyist sources told Reuters they were expecting an executive order that called for “most favoured nation” pricing on a subset of Medicare drugs.
“Implementing something like this is pretty challenging. He tried to do this before and it was stopped by the courts,” said Evan Seigerman, analyst at BMO Capital Markets.
The White House officials did not specify any targets.
Trump’s order also directs the government to consider facilitating direct-to-consumer purchasing programs that would sell drugs at the prices other countries pay.
It also orders the Secretary of Commerce and other agency heads to review and consider actions regarding the export of pharmaceutical drugs or ingredients that may contribute to price differences.

The look of Trump world is increasingly about the beauty choices, more than the clothes. You can see this with Attorney General Pam Bondi, who favors pantsuits, and the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who seems to vacillate between suits and sheath dresses. No matter what they wear, however, they are never anything but a Trump woman, even before they get to policy. There is actually a name for how they look: “Mar-a-Lago face,” after the Trump golf club that is home to so many of those sporting the look. Which also involves “conservative girl makeup.”

Rachael Blackmore: How pioneering Grand National-winning jockey changed horse racing
While Blackmore has not outlined the reasons for her retirement, Walsh and Carberry stopped at similar ages before starting families.
They ended their careers with winners at Ireland’s showpiece Punchestown Festival and maybe Blackmore intended to do the same, but she unusually ended the recent meeting without a victory.
She suffered a bad neck injury in a fall earlier this season and only returned to action in December after three months out.
Blackmore took success for women to another level, competing for a historic Irish champion jockey title before twice finishing runner-up to Paul Townend.
Her achievements transcended racing. Victory in the National, watched by an estimated 500 million people worldwide, made headlines around the globe, and she was voted World Sport Star at the 2021 BBC Sports Personality awards.
“The support has been incredible. I got such a kick out of being on that list of nominees,” she said.
Those nominees included tennis star Novak Djokovic, boxing great Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and American football quarterback Tom Brady.
Blackmore, whose partner Brian Hayes is also a jockey, did not revel in the limelight – she preferred to get on with the business of riding winners – but spoke thoughtfully when interviewed.
De Bromhead said she was a great support after his 13-year-old son Jack died in a riding accident in September 2022.
The pair’s victory with Honeysuckle in the horse’s swansong in the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March 2023 sparked jubilant and emotional scenes.
Spectators grabbed every vantage point to cheer the winner into the paddock. The roars were for the trainer and horse, but the rider too. Just mention the name ‘Rachael’ at the races, and everyone knew who you meant.
With Honeysuckle in the winner’s enclosure, a rainbow appeared on the horizon.
“We all wish a very special kid could be here today but he’s watching down on us,” said Blackmore.
Her partnership with Honeysuckle was a great match. Seventeen wins from 19 races, including four at the Cheltenham Festival. All with the same jockey on board.
Blackmore will be remembered for a series of firsts, and potentially paving the way for others.
“Ah, look, it’s brilliant, but I won’t be the last. I’m delighted for myself anyway,” she said after winning the National.
“I just hope it shows it doesn’t matter, male or female. Plenty of people have gone before me and done that – Katie Walsh was third here on Seabass. All those things help girls coming along, but I don’t think it’s a major talking point any more.”
When Blackmore won the Gold Cup on A Plus Tard, she earned praise from the Cheltenham Festival’s all-time leading rider Ruby Walsh.
“She’s inspiring kids everywhere. It’s incredible the interest she’s driving in the sport. You need role models like that for the sport and the industry, she’s box office,” he said.
While the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign, launched 10 years ago, encouraged more women to be active, Rachael Blackmore wanted to realise a dream of being at the summit of her sport. This girl did.

An Israeli-American soldier held hostage for more than 19 months in the Gaza Strip was released Monday by ****** in a goodwill gesture toward the Trump administration that could lay the groundwork for a new ceasefire with Israel.
The Israeli military confirmed that 21-year-old ***** Alexander was turned over to the Red Cross and then to Israeli forces, and had crossed into Israeli territory.
Wearing shirts emblazoned with his name, Alexander’s extended family gathered in Tel Aviv to watch the release. They cheered and chanted his name when the military said he was free. His grandmother, Varda Ben Baruch, beamed. In Tel Aviv’s Hostage Square, hundreds of people broke out into cheers.
In Alexander’s hometown of Tenafly, New Jersey, hundreds of supporters packed the streets, holding signs with his image and listening to speakers blasting Israeli music. As they watched the news of his release on a large screen, the crowd hugged and waved Israeli flags. Since he was taken hostage, supporters there gathered every Friday to march for the hostages’ release.

Alexander was 19 when he was taken from his military base in southern Israel during ******’ cross-border attack on Oct. 7, 2023, which set off the war in Gaza. His release was the first since Israel shattered an eight-week ceasefire with ****** in March, unleashing fierce strikes on Gaza that have killed hundreds.
Israel has promised to intensify its offensive, including by seizing the territory and displacing much of its population again. Days before the ceasefire ended, Israel blocked all imports from entering the ************ enclave, deepening a humanitarian crisis and sparking warnings about the risk of famine if the blockade isn’t lifted. On Monday, a statement from Netanyahu’s office said Israel was not granting any concessions for Alexander’s release.
The statement said Israel did not commit to a ceasefire or the freeing of ************ prisoners as part of the release and that it had only agreed to create a “safe corridor” to allow for Alexander to be returned.
The statement said Israel would carry on with plans to ramp up its offensive in Gaza. Israel says it won’t launch that plan until after Trump’s visit to the Middle East, to allow for a potential new ceasefire deal to emerge.
A statement by the office on Sunday said the U.S. had told Israel that Alexander’s release could lead to a new deal with ****** to free more hostages.

Llano RGB Laptop Cooling Pad review
The Llano RGB Laptop Cooling Pad is a premium laptop cooling pad. Its huge 5.5-inch (140mm) fan is capable of spinning at up to dizzying 2,800rpm, meaning it should be perfect for chilling your CPU during heavy workloads. Cheap it certainly isn’t, though: costing a cool $119.99 / £129.99 (around AU$190), it’s an expensive cooling pad.
However, in return for this princely sum, you get some glacial cooling. I ran a 3DMark Stress Test using our Acer Predator Helios 300 testing laptop with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. Before the test, the laptop’s ambient temperature sat at 82F / 28C; after running the stress test for 15 minutes with the Llano in place at 2800rpm, the laptop had warmed to only 97F / 36C. That 15F / 8C rise is one of the most impressive results I’ve seen in my time testing laptop cooling pads, and should definitely mean that your laptop will be remain nice and frosty during long gaming sessions.
So, on the plus side, the Llano is more frigid than a blizzard; the downside is it sounds like one, too, with its fans kicking out some gale-force noise. Ten minutes into my benchmarking tests, I used a noise level meter to gauge the sound kicked out by the laptop and the Llano RGB Laptop Cooling Pad set to maximum – it recorded 64dB from head height and 79dB from only a few inches away. This is much louder than many of the best laptop cooling pads, and, according to the Center for Hearing and Communication, it’s roughly the same volume as a small blender, so you likely won’t be popular using this in an office environment.

Overall, the design of the Llano is tastefully done – there are no aggressively sharp angles of the type often seen on gaming accessories, and the RGB lighting is restricted to a single, modest bar around the cooling pad’s edge; there are four lighting modes you can cycle through. Note that I did find the power cable a little on the short side: my power socket is just to the left of my desk, but the cable plugs in on the right-hand side of the device, which was more of a stretch.
Ergonomically, the Llano Cooling Pad is well thought-out, too: its slope ensure wrists are held at the perfect angle, and its three different height settings should make it easy for you to find the optimum slope for your needs. Be aware that the laptop rests do come very close to sitting exactly where you’ll want to lay your wrists, though – I’m not sure why so many brands think right below the WASD keys is the perfect place for a jutting piece of plastic; but it’s a common problem with laptop cooling pads.
Despite this, the Llano RGB Laptop Cooling Pad is a fantastic piece of kit, capable of delivering pretty extreme cooling – and looking good while it does it. Yes, it sounds like an idling jet engine, and getting such performance will cost you a pretty penny. However, it will do an astounding job of keeping your laptop cool during demanding tasks, so if you have the money spare, you really can’t go wrong with it.

However, it’s occasionally available for less: at the time of writing, it was reduced to $92.79 in the US – its lowest ever price. It also dropped down to £103.99 in October in the ***, so it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for potential discounts.
At its full price, the Llano definitely comes in at the premium end of the market, dwarfing the price of affordable cooling pads such as the $19.99 / £20.99 Liangstar Laptop Cooling Pad. But on the flip side, it offers far better cooling – some budget options saw our testing laptop temperatures rise by over 68F / 20C, while it was just 46F / 8C with the Llano. For high-intensity gaming or creative work, you may well find that extra spend is well worth it.

When testing the Llano RGB Laptop Cooling Pad, I ran it through TechRadar’s standard benchmarking tests. First, I used a thermal camera to record the temperature of the hottest point of our Acer Predator Helios 300 with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 testing laptop as a baseline. I then ran a 3DMark Stress Test for 15 minutes with the Llano dialled up to its maximum cooling, before recording its new temperature.
I also used a sound level meter to check how much noise the device kicks out while running. Once our stress test had been underway for 10 minutes, I checked the volume of the combined noise of the laptop and cooling pad from a few inches away and from head height. I then compared this to the noise generated by the laptop’s fans alone, when it wasn’t being cooled.
On top of all of this benchmarking data, I made sure I got plenty of experience using the laptop cooler, to assess factors such as comfort, stability and ergonomics. Here I was helped by many years of experience reviewing gadgets and several decades spent gaming on laptops.
