  1. Coinbase jumps 22% after S&P 500 inclusion Coinbase jumps 22% after S&P 500 inclusion Brian Armstrong, chief executive officer of Coinbase Global Inc., speaks during the Messari Mainnet summit in New York, on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023. Michael Nagle | Bloomberg | Getty Images Coinbase shares soared more than 20% on Tuesday and headed for their sharpest rally since the day after President Donald Trump’s election victory following the crypto exchange’s inclusion in the S&P 500. S&P Global said in a release late Monday that Coinbase is replacing Discover Financial Services, which is in the process of being acquired by Capital One Financial. The change will take effect before trading on Monday. Stocks added to the S&P 500 often rise in value because funds that track the benchmark will add it to their portfolios. For Coinbase, it’s the latest sharp move in what’s been a volatile few months since Trump was elected to return to the White House. Coinbase shares rocketed 31% on Nov. 6, the day after the election, on optimism that the incoming administration would adopt more crypto-friendly policies following a challenging and litigious four years during President Joe Biden’s term in office. The company and CEO Brian Armstrong were key financial supporters in the 2024 campaign, backing pro-crypto candidates up and down the ticket. Coinbase was one of the top corporate donors, giving more than $75 million to a PAC called Fairshake and its affiliates. Armstrong personally contributed more than $1.3 million to a mix of candidates. While the start of the Trump term has been mostly favorable to the crypto industry, through deregulation and an executive order to establish a strategic bitcoin reserve, legislation has thus far stalled. That’s due in part to concerns surrounding Trump’s personal efforts to profit from crypto through a meme coin and other family initiatives. Coinbase has been on a roller coaster as well, plummeting 26% in February and 20% in March as Trump’s tariff announcements roiled markets and pushed investors out of risk. With Tuesday’s rally, the stock is now up about 2% for the year. Since going public through a direct listing in 2021, Coinbase has become a ******* part of the U.S. financial system, with bitcoin soaring in value and large institutions gaining regulatory approval to create spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds. Bitcoin spiked last week, topping $100,000 and nearing its record price reached in January. The crypto currency surpassed $104,000 on Tuesday. To join the S&P 500, a company must have reported a profit in its latest quarter and have cumulative profit over the four most recent quarters. Coinbase last week reported net income of $65.6 million, or 24 cents a share, down from $1.18 billion, or $4.40 a share a year earlier, after accounting for the fair value of its crypto investments. Revenue rose 24% to $2.03 billion from $1.64 billion a year ago. The company last week also announced plans to buy Dubai-based Deribit, a major crypto derivatives exchange for $2.9 billion. The deal, which is the largest in the crypto industry to date, will help Coinbase broaden its footprint outside the U.S. WATCH: Bitcoin surges past $100,000 Source link #Coinbase #jumps #inclusion Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  2. I’ve been using the wrong gaming VR headset for years I’ve been using the wrong gaming VR headset for years As a long-time VR gamer, I’ve always found myself in an awkward position. I’m certainly not a casual player at this point, but I’m also not quite a full-blown techie. I don’t spend my time studying the ins and outs of lens shapes or obsessing over resolution. I’m just happy to use whatever headset lets me play games comfortably and conveniently. That’s meant that for the past few years, my Meta Quest 3 (and Quest 3S) have been my go-to choice for gaming. That said, they haven’t always been a perfect fit for my needs. I’ve struggled to get the comfort level exactly where I need it and I often find that its visual barriers butt into my experiences more than I’d like. I’ve learned to live with those quirks over the years because it felt like there wasn’t any other option. That is, until I dusted off my PlayStation VR2 for the first time in over a year. After sitting down to play The Midnight Walk on my forgotten headset, I’m now wondering why I ever stopped using it in the first place. It’s a reminder that just because something is the shiny new toy doesn’t mean that it’s inherently the best choice for your needs. The right choice Allow me to explain how I got in this mess first. Ever since I became interested in VR games, I’ve decided to stick to two ecosystems: Meta and PSVR. There was a simple logistical reason for that, as my PC is a little too outdated to properly power PC headsets. The plug and play nature of the PSVR and the wireless freedom of the Quest both fit my specific needs. I figured I’d keep up with Sony’s device to play its exclusives and use Meta’s devices for more general use. The reality, though, was that I started falling into the habit of just using whatever was newest for everything. That’s the sort of pitfall you can easily run into when you review tech for a living. At the end of 2022, I was happily using the Meta Quest 2. When the PlayStation VR2 rolled around in early 2023, I instinctively jumped ship — and for good reason. Sony’s second generation headset was impressive at the time, offering high resolution visuals and excellent eye-tracking. I was happy with that as my primary platform even if the promise of first-party support fell apart immediately after Horizon: Call of the Mountain. Then came the Meta Quest 3 later that year. I switched over to it in an instant, welcoming back a life of wireless play. Only one year later, I’d switch again to the Meta Quest 3S, which I use to this day because I appreciate its passthrough tech. My PSVR2 hadn’t been used in over a year as of last weekend. KIWI Design That’s not because the Quest is a better headset that solves all of my problems. In fact, I’ve had two major gripes with it over the past few years. The first is that I’ve struggled with its virtual boundaries. I live in a fairly compact apartment, so I don’t have a full room I can freely move around when I play. When I’m standing, I have to use a sliver of floor space in my bedroom. I’ve found that I’m constantly hitting the barrier grid when I try to play, as it triggers if I so much as brush up against it. The same is true for seated play, where I always find myself breaking out. My ******* gripe is with comfort. To this day, I can not get a Meta headset to fit my head right. It always squeezes my skull tighter than I’d like, which means that I need to play in shorter bursts. Loosening it to the point of comfort generally means that I have to live withy a blurrier image. I’m willing to make those compromises on both ends for a great game, but it makes it hard for me to get too invested in long games like Asgard’s Wrath 2. And hey, what is my other option? It turns out that I had one all along and just didn’t realize it. I received a review code for The Midnight Walk on PSVR2, which was incentive enough to bring it out of storage for another ride. As soon as I put it on, I couldn’t believe I had ever ditched it in the first place. For one, I find it far more comfortable that I’d remembered. Perhaps it’s just because I’d grown so accustomed to the Quest, but it rests so well on my head that I could sit for over two hours without even thinking about it. I also never found my game interrupted by the virtual boundaries I constantly see on Quest. PSVR2 feels less sensitive overall, allowing me to more easily immerse myself in its digital worlds (and I only punched a wall once while doing it!). Digital Trends In my head, I had convinced myself that the reason I dropped it was due to the Quest 3 being more technically impressive, but now I’m even questioning that. Yes, the Quest 3 is better on paper with higher resolution per eye, but the PSVR2 bridges that gap with its OLED display that creates a higher contrast image. As part of the tradeoff, I also get access to some incredibly impressive eye tracking, something I’d almost forgotten about entirely in the switch to Quest. In The Midnight Walk, I was able to close my eyes to control parts of the game, which the headset tracked with pinpoint accuracy. Going back to the PSVR2 felt like using it for the first time. I had taken so many of its great qualities for granted because I had convinced myself that new always meant better. It doesn’t, though that’s not to throw shade at the Quest 3 or 3S. Both are great gaming headsets and their wireless play can’t be beat. I still imagine that I’ll play a chunk of my VR games there so I have the freedom to move. But I’ve also come away having learned a valuable lesson about tech: Sometimes the device that suits you best is the one you already own. 5. Why did Liverpool fans boo Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Arsenal? Why did Liverpool fans boo Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Arsenal? Lifelong Liverpool fan Carl Duffy, 41, was at the game with his daughter in the main stand, and said both of them booed Alexander-Arnold’s introduction. “The reason we booed comes down to a number of things, some of which in isolation would make this scenario different but combined it was always going to lead to this,” Duffy explained. “Trent claims to be a local lad whose dreams came true, always talking about watching the 2005 Champions League trophy coming home from his house on Queens Drive. His idol was Steven Gerrard. Everything about him screamed ‘he’s just the same as us’. “We identified with him, he was living our dream. To us it gets no ******* than Liverpool being on top and being part of that. “In our minds nothing is ******* than Liverpool, that’s how it is here. It feels like a betrayal, a backstab, like everything that was said before wasn’t really true, or at least not as true as was portrayed.” Duffy isn’t worried about the hole Alexander-Arnold’s exit leaves in the squad but said the emotional aspect was tough to accept. “We’ve lost big players before like Michael Owen [to Real Madrid in 2004] – the next year we won the Champions League, so history tells us not to cry about losing a player,” Duffy said. “It’s the hurt and emotion behind it that’s the killer, not the loss of a right-back. “I think if Alexander-Arnold had anything about him, he’d have signed a new deal with a clause for Real Madrid set at say £40m and said: ‘I’m not going to ****** Liverpool out of money. If Madrid want me that much they will pay the fee.'” Richard Davis, 50, was at the game against Arsenal and also condoned the booing from some supporters. “Alexander-Arnold is widely known as a local lad that is a Liverpool fan,” he said. “I, and most fans, can’t even begin to imagine how amazing it would be to be in his place so where’s the respect to ‘his’ club? “If you genuinely love the club, and care, why would you run your contract down for the last year or so, to make sure that the club gets absolutely nothing to replace you after they have invested for the last 20 years in turning you into the superstar that you’ve become? “No-one begrudges any Liverpool player wanting to change their lives and go elsewhere if they want to, but go the right way. Go with respect and some class. Be honest and straight with the club, and don’t play this ‘will I, won’t I?’ game that he’s been playing with them. “I am a fan, and this does mean more. Alexander-Arnold would have been a legend of the club had he stayed. He would probably been in most fans’ top 10 Liverpool players of all time – but I think that legacy has all gone now and he’s really tarnished how he’s left so badly. “We’ll always be grateful for the contributions that he’s made. That contribution has been wonderful, but the way that he’s left has left a really sour taste in the mouth which will hang around long in the memory.” Source link #Liverpool #fans #boo #Trent #AlexanderArnold #Arsenal Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  6. Leeroy Jenkins, One Of The First Viral Videos And A Huge Moment For WoW, Just Turned 20 Leeroy Jenkins, One Of The First Viral Videos And A Huge Moment For WoW, Just Turned 20 World of Warcraft just turned 20 last year, and now one of its most viral moments, Leeroy Jenkins, has too. The video, originally uploaded to the WoW forums but gaining more traction on May 11, 2005 when it was uploaded to Warcraftmovies.com, shows a guild of WoW players in voice chat looking to conquer the Rookery room in the game’s Upper ****** Rock Spire raid. After going over an elaborate battle plan with a “32.33, repeating of course, percentage of survival,” one AFK player, a paladin named Leeroy Jenkins, bolts up and shouts “Time’s up, let’s do this! Leeeeroyyyy Jenkinsssss!” He runs into the adjacent room and aggroes every dragonkin in sight. Chaos ensues and internet history is made. Leeroy Jenkins instantly became an internet icon and helped cement WoW in the public consciousness, his name becoming a call to arms for anyone who was about to do something with gusto without thinking about the consequences. The video has been watched tens of millions of times in the last two decades and became a viral sensation at a time when the modern internet as we know it was still in its infancy (YouTube, for example, was just a few months old at the time of the original video). An HD reupload of the video posted to YouTube in 2014 has racked up 26 million views alone. That the whole video is staged is beside the point. The comedic writing and timing (and the absolutely absurd strategy of trying to clear out the Rookery room, rather than just avoiding the eggs entirely) was always too good to be true even before the folks behind the video openly admitted it. But that is what makes the video so funny and also makes those early days of WoW so special. Here was a time before every raid strategy was known and when players hadn’t quite min-maxed the fun out of encounters like this. Leeroy Jenkins blew up not because it was real, but because it was, despite its over-the-top nature, still believable as something that could happen if you joined a random UBRS group of well-meaning idiots. Such was the beauty of WoW’s earliest days–something that developer Blizzard looked to recapture with its launch of WoW Classic in 2019. References to Leeroy Jenkins would go on to appear in everything from a Jeopardy! question to episodes of Family Guy and How I Met Your Mother. Blizzard has immortalized Leeroy Jenkins in a number of different ways too, including an official NPC who was added to the game during the Warlords of Draenor expansion and more recently played a role in WoW’s in-game 20th anniversary event. He is also on various Hearthstone cards, and Blizzard even reward’s WoW players with a special title, “Jenkins,” for succeeding in UBRS where Leeroy and his group failed. Leeroy Jenkins continues to be an important reminder of what kind of hilarity can ensue when players don’t take games too seriously and instead live in the moment. Even though his group failed miserably (on purpose), Leeroy’s final words in the video still ring true today. Even in the face of ridicule and adversity, it’s the fun we had along the way and the little things that matter. After all, at least he has chicken. 7. Kardashian feared she’d be ******, killed, trial told Kardashian feared she’d be ******, killed, trial told Reality TV star Kim Kardashian told the alleged mastermind of a jewel heist in which she thought she was going to die that she forgives him, but that this took away none of the trauma from being held at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room in 2016. “I absolutely thought I was going to die,” the billionaire celebrity told a Paris court on Tuesday, recounting her shock and fear during the attack, in which she thought she was going to be ****** and shot. “I thought about my sister, thought she would walk in and see me shot dead and have that memory in her forever,” she said. Kardashian cried as she recalled the start of the attack, in which the suspects are accused of tying her up with zip ties and duct tape before making off with jewellery, including a $US4 million ($A6.2 million) engagement ring given to her by her then-husband rapper Kanye West (now known as Ye). Dressed in a smart ****** outfit by British designer John Galliano and wearing shiny jewellery, Kardashian, 44, recalled the details of the attack. “We were leaving the next morning so I was just packing up, it was around three in the morning. I heard stomping up the stairs when I was in bed,” she said, adding that men dressed as police officers barged in. “Then I heard one of the gentlemen forcefully say ‘ring! ring!’ in English, with an accent, pointing,” she said. One of them pointed a gun at her. “I was pretty hysterical and I just looked at the concierge and told him ‘What is going to happen to us? I have to make it home to my babies’,” Kardashian said. She said at one point she feared she was going to be ****** as the robbers threw her on the bed and one of them grabbed her leg. “But he ended up tying me up and closed my legs,” she said. Kardashian said the intruders did not hit her. “I was grabbed, and dragged into the other room, and thrown onto the floor, but wasn’t hit, no,” she said. There was another emotional moment in court when a letter of apology written by 69-year-old defendant Aomar Ait Khedache, nicknamed “Omar the Old,” who can no longer speak, was read out. “I’m honestly emotional about it,” Kardashian told the court, in tears. “I do appreciate the letter for sure, I forgive you,” she said, looking at Khedache. “But it doesn’t change the feelings and the trauma and the fact that my life was forever changed, but I do appreciate the letter, thank you.” Khedache is accused of being the ringleader of the robbery, which he denies. His response to Kardashian’s words was read out by the court. “Your forgiveness is a sunshine that has enlightened me … I am forever grateful,” he said. The attack, during Paris fashion week, changed a lot of things, Kardashian said, including prompting her to increase her security. “It changed the way that I feel safe at home. Now I have between four and six security at home for me to feel safe,” she said. “I can’t sleep at night if there aren’t multiple security people.” Ahead of Kardashian’s testimony, her stylist Simone Harouche, who was asleep in the same luxury hotel flat at the time of the attack, told the tribunal of the “terror” they both felt during the robbery. “She was beside herself, I’ve never seen her like that before,” Harouche said. “She just was screaming and kept saying we need to get out of here, we need help, what are we going to do if they come back.” Harouche also cried at times during her testimony, and said she had changed careers and underwent therapy because of the robbery, which she said caused her post-traumatic stress and made her fearful of being around celebrities. In all, nine men and one woman are being tried by the criminal court. Five of them – all men – face armed robbery and kidnapping charges and potentially risk being sentenced to life imprisonment. Most of the jewels, including the engagement ring, have never been recovered. Source link #Kardashian #feared #shed #****** #killed #trial #told Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  9. US–China deal is a ‘dream scenario’ for Apple and Nvidia US–China deal is a ‘dream scenario’ for Apple and Nvidia 00:00 Speaker A Big Tech stocks leading market gains today with the NASDAQ 100 officially wiping out year-to-date losses. The magnificent seven adding more than $800 billion in market value following the deal between the US and China to temporarily reduce tariffs. Joining us now with more, Dan Ives, Wedbush Securities global head of technology research. Dan, great to have you, as always. I know you say this truce is the best case scenario. Which tech stock is the biggest winner within that scenario? 00:29 Dan Ives I think it’s Apple and Nvidia. I mean, if you look at this, that was the ****** cloud, right? I mean, the supply chain heart and lungs are in China. And, and as much as you can talk about moving to India and others, this is a huge sigh of relief. And, and I think it changes our view that, you know, new highs for tech, new highs for the market, now on the table after what we just view as a dream scenario happened this weekend. 01:08 Speaker A Well, Dan, let’s talk about Apple a little bit. I know you had a call for a $3,500 iPhone if production was brought back to the United States. What’s your call on the price of an iPhone today? 01:21 Dan Ives Look, it comes down to. I mean, they’re, they’re going to have to struggle not to raise prices. If you actually, they don’t get exemptions and you actually keep some sort of tariff in when it comes to, to China. Look, it, it all comes down to the reality is iPhones need to be made in China. Some can be made in India. They can never really be made in the US, because if you want them made in the US, the price points would basically be massive demand destruction on day one. And it would take four to five years to even build 10% of that in the US. So that’s why our whole point over the last, called six weeks was, let’s talk reality versus fairy tale. And the reality is, is that iPhones will continue to be built in China with some being built in India. 02:51 Speaker A How do you suss out the reality versus a negotiation in a framework, a thinking of a deal when there isn’t necessarily clarity yet on the goal of these tariffs? 03:08 Dan Ives Look, I think ultimately, they’re both playing poker. And especially U.S. They look at their hand, it’s not a good hand, right? And I think they had to move further and further back from the cliff in terms of what we saw with the delay of the reciprocal. And obviously, when it came to China, because the cargo data doesn’t lie and the price points doesn’t lie. And whatever CEOs are saying publicly, behind closed doors, what they’re telling the White House is, you need to change, need to move. So our view is, like, even when it comes to the 30%, I mean, that’s probably the high bar. It goes to what called a reciprocal 15%, 20%. Once you work at WTO IP and all the other issues are going to have to get worked out in the next year. But you don’t want a decoupling when it comes to AI revolution. And I think this was, you know, a potential ****** swan moment that was self-created that’s no longer there. 04:42 Speaker A And Dan, I guess, has Lou Basanez has a question for you. 04:46 Lou Basanez So, Dan, I just want to talk to you more about Apple. I feel like earlier in the show, I said, this time of year, everyone gets a bit negative on Apple. How worried are you about price sensitivity, right? I mean, the consumer is super loyal to Apple, 2.5 billion devices out there. You got a lot of subsidies. Does it really matter if the iPhone price is a little bit higher than, than it was expected? I mean, do you really think that impacts demand? 05:17 Dan Ives Yeah, no, it’s a great question. Look, I mean, the last thing Apple wants to do is, is raise prices. And they’ve kept prices basically the same. The reason that is, is because you have called 300 million iPhones that haven’t upgraded in four years. So if, even if it’s 3%, 4%, 5% of that, that may be delayed for a year because of a $100 increase, or only $150. That’s not what Apple wants, but they’re beholden to their supply chain. But when it comes to going to WWDC and iPhone 17, and obviously AI, I mean, this is a key ******* for them to actually see growth in terms of high single digit, double digit growth, which is obviously evaded, you know, in terms of the Apple story over the last few years. 06:39 Lou Basanez Dan, one quick follow up. Earlier in the show, I said that MAG 7 was a boy band like NSYNC that’s breaking up. Who would be your? And I love NSYNC. I love NSYNC. Yeah, look, who would be your Justin Timberlake though for breakout? You said Apple and Nvidia. If you had to pick one for the best breakout for investors right now, which one are you most optimistic about on the aftermath of these trade truce? 07:15 Dan Ives If there was like a, if there was like a Timberlake part of the NSYNC breaking out, it would have to be Nvidia. I mean, and look, Jensen, we, we’ll see what happens with the ****** leather jacket if he had to, you know, make it to be a boy band. But look, I think the reality is, is that I think it makes all new, new all-time highs because there’s only one ship in the world fueling the AI revolution and that’s led by godfather of AI, Jensen Nvidia. We wanted to push the envelope on multiplayer asymmetrical horror, shed light on this iconic film to a newer generation, and place folks into the beautiful but macabre world of Muerto County and we feel we have achieved that,” the studio explained. As for the future, Gun Interactive hasn’t revealed what its next project is, but it is urging fans to stay tuned. One of several asymmetrical multiplayer games based on a horror movie IP, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre stands apart from other games by utilizing a 4v3 structure for its gameplay, forcing survivors to keep an eye out for the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface and his homicidal family. An authentic recreation of the classic slasher movie–right down to Leatherface’s signature chainsaw–the game was well-received at launch. “As one of the year’s scariest and best-designed experiences, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has reset the bar for multiplayer horror games,” Mark Delaney wrote in GameSpot’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre review. While the game will still live on with the dedicated fans who regularly play it, the same can’t be said for Evil Dead: The Game, as after a brief run, it was pulled from digital storefronts by publisher Boss Team Games. Trump says U.S. will remove all sanctions on Syria Trump says U.S. will remove all sanctions on Syria U.S. President Donald Trump speaks at the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, May 13, 2025. Hamad I Mohammed | Reuters The U.S. will remove all sanctions on Syria, President Donald Trump announced Tuesday. “I will be ordering the cessation of sanctions against Syria in order to give them a chance at greatness,” Trump told a packed auditorium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the first appearance of his four-day visit to the Middle East. “In Syria, which has seen so much misery and death, there is a new government that will hopefully succeed in stabilizing the country and keeping peace. That’s what we want to see,” he said in a wide-ranging speech that focused on U.S. relations with the Middle East. “In Syria, they’ve had their share of travesty, war, killing many years. That’s why my administration has already taken the first steps toward restoring normal relations between the United States and Syria for the first time in more than a decade.” “So I say, Good luck Syria. Show us something very special, like they’ve done, frankly, in Saudi Arabia.” This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates. Fallout show to get as many as 6 seasons, actor claims Fallout show to get as many as 6 seasons, actor claims As we prep for the second season of Amazon’s Fallout TV show, actor Aaron Moten may have spilled the beans on just how many seasons the show will run for. Of course, it’s all gonna depend on how much attention the series continues to get years down the line. Reddit user TOZAR_N7 spotted an interesting statement from the Maximus actor. This statement, of course, points to the sheer longevity the series may go for, as he was provided a “starting point” and an “endpoint” after signing to do the series, which ends at around five or six total seasons. “When I signed on to do the series, we would have a starting point and then they gave me the endpoint. That endpoint hasn’t changed, but it is [a] season five, six type of endpoint, you know? We’ve always known we’re going to take our time with the development of the characters.” Considering the first season has been very well received, alongside the backdrop of Season 2 being the Mojave Wasteland, it’s bound to pique a lot of New Vegas fans’ interest. Schumer pauses Trump DOJ nominees Schumer pauses Trump DOJ nominees Senate ********* Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) speaks at a press conference with other members of Senate Democratic leadership following a policy luncheon at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC May 6, 2025. Nathan Posner | Anadolu | Getty Images Senate ********* Leader Chuck Schumer announced Tuesday that he is putting a hold on Department of Justice political nominations in protest of President Donald Trump’s plans to accept a roughly $400 million luxury jet from Qatar. “This is not just naked corruption, it is also a grave national security threat,” Schumer said from the Senate floor, as he demanded answers from the Trump administration and Justice Department on the planned exchange of the luxury jet. Schumer slammed the move as “so corrupt that even [Russian President Vladimir] Putin would give a double take.” While the nominations will ultimately still likely be able to move forward as Republicans hold the majority in the Senate, Schumer’s move could slow down the process. Schumer’s announcement comes as Trump’s plan to accept the luxury jet to use as Air Force One has drawn strong pushback from Democrats, and even some Republicans, who have raised legal and ethical questions about the move. Schumer in his floor speech on Tuesday called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to testify before Congress to “explain why gifting Donald Trump a private jet does not violate the Emoluments Clause.” Read more CNBC politics coverage The Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause prohibits presidents from receiving any presents from “any King, Prince, or foreign State,” without congressional approval. “Until the Attorney General explains her blatantly inept decision, and we get complete and comprehensive to these and other questions, I will place a hold on all political nominees to the Department of Justice,” Schumer announced. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told CNBC on Tuesday that “the plane poses significant espionage and surveillance problems.” Conservative podcaster and commentator Ben Shapiro also criticized the move. “If you want President Trump to succeed, this kind of skeezy stuff needs to stop,” Shapiro said on a podcast episode that aired Monday. Trump said Monday that Qatar made a “very nice gesture” in offering the 747 jet to act as Air Force One. “I think what happened with the plane is that we’re very disappointed that it’s taken Boeing so long to build a new Air Force One, we have an Air Force One that’s 40 years old,” Trump told reporters at the White House. 17. The world’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor is here — and it ain’t cheap The world’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor is here — and it ain’t cheap Samsung has officially launched the Odyssey OLED G6, the world’s first OLED gaming monitor to feature an ultra-fast 500Hz refresh rate. First unveiled at CES 2025, the 27-inch display is now available for pre-order and targets competitive gamers looking for extreme responsiveness paired with premium OLED visuals. Surpassing the likes of Asus’ ROG Swift PG27AQDP, the new Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF) makes use of a QD-OLED panel offering a native QHD (2560 × 1440) resolution and a 0.03ms (GtG) response time aimed at minimizing motion blur in fast-paced gameplay. The panel is certified for VESA DisplayHDR True ****** 500, which should translate to deep contrast and rich colors. It also includes FreeSync Premium Pro and is also Nvidia G-Sync Compatible, reducing screen tearing and stuttering during gameplay. The monitor offers a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and uses Samsung’s Glare Free coating to cut down screen reflections. To help prevent OLED burn-in, the display uses Samsung’s “OLED Safeguard+” burn-in protection technology which includes a pulsating heat pipe system to manage panel temperatures and reduce heat buildup. It also includes a thermal modulation system that adjusts screen brightness automatically, along with detection features for static elements like logos and taskbars. Luke Larsen / Digital Trends In terms of build, the Odyssey OLED G6 features a slim, flat-screen design with Samsung’s Core Lighting+ on the back, adding subtle ambient RGB illumination. The ergonomic stand supports height, tilt, and swivel adjustments, and users can also opt for a VESA mount if needed. Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 input, and a USB hub. Like its predecessors, the G6 is built around Samsung’s Gaming Hub, allowing quick access to game streaming platforms and console passthrough. Samsung said in its official press release that the Odyssey OLED G6 will first be available in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, with a phased rollout to additional global markets planned later this year. It is expected that the monitor will be listed in the U.S. at $1,300, although pre-orders are now open in Singapore, with a listed price of 1,488 SGD, which translates to approximately $1,100 USD. 19. Christmas are orders back on track after tariff truce Christmas are orders back on track after tariff truce Getty Images When President Donald Trump dramatically raised tariffs on goods from China last month, New York City retailer Morris Dweck had to respond quickly, cancelling or putting on hold 140 containers worth of items destined for the winter holiday season in six months’ time. That left his suppliers in the lurch and stranded thousands of artificial Christmas trees. On Monday, just hours after Trump walked back some of his most aggressive plans, Mr Dweck was back in touch with his suppliers, and moving ahead with shipments. Like other business owners, he feels a surge of relief, after the US and China announced on Monday that they would be undoing most of the tariffs announced in recent weeks, pulling back from a clash that had sent trade between the two countries plunging and raised fears of significant economic damage. The US said it would cut back the new duties from a punishing 145% to 30%. China likewise agreed to lower its retaliatory tariffs on US products to 10%, and committed to unspecified changes to other trade barriers. The changes come just in time for Mr Dweck, who owns DII, a chain of 19 discount stores in the New York area, stocked with many goods made in China. He had rushed in shipments earlier this year, packing his warehouse with enough merchandise to last him until mid-October. But the shock of the 145% tariffs – a cost too high to be swallowed by his company or passed onto customers – had raised the threat of empty shelves during the critical November and December festive season. “If you had told us … even 30% three months ago, we would have said it was insane, that’s crazy, we would never survive,” he said. But now it feels like good news. “It’s a sigh of relief. Even though it’s very dramatic, business can go on.” Newsday/Getty New York discount retailer DII stockpiled products to get ahead of tariffs but not enough to get through to Christmas By the end of last week trade between the US and China – America’s third largest supplier of imports last year and a key source of essentials such as car seats and umbrellas – had dropped precipitously. Planned arrivals at US ports from China were down roughly 60% year-on year, according to Vizion. Analysts in the US were marking up the odds of recession, as surveys of businesses and consumer confidence sank sharply. But, following the trade truce, hopes are now rising that the most significant damage might be avoided. In notes to clients published after the announcement, firms including Oxford Economics and Goldman Sachs said they now saw reduced odds of recession in the US this year. While the tariffs might still push up prices for Americans to some degree in the months ahead, the US is likely to be spared the dramatic drop in spending and business activity that the shock of 145% tariffs seemed likely to trigger, said Ben May, director of global macro research at Oxford Economics. Mr Dweck said he was hopeful that his business could manage the 30% tariff. He has negotiated rebates with many suppliers and plans to cover some of the costs out of his profit margin. He is also expecting to raise prices, though just how high remains to be seen, given continued uncertainty about tariffs and the wider economy. Though he would normally have his suppliers put prices on the boxes, he is now planning to take on that task himself, once the goods arrive, even though it is less efficient. The current tariff rate remains high enough that he is scouting for suppliers in other countries, as he considers making orders for next year. He is also pushing suppliers to ship goods by August, worried that tensions might erupt again. “Anything can happen between now and then,” he said. Bloomberg/Getty US Ports like Long Beach, California had already gone quiet Businesses in China also said they remained worried about the future. Trump said he was still pushing China to “open up” its economy for American firms and warned that tariffs could rise again – although not to 145% – if negotiations between the two countries do not make progress over the next 90 days. Tat Kei, a ******** exporter of personal care appliances to the US, whose factory employs 200 people in Shenzhen, said his firm had welcomed the change and started moving some of the goods that had been stuck in its warehouse. But he said firms had little confidence that the current rules would stick – and feared that tensions would erupt again. “From the planning and investment perspective that is the big concern.” he said. “Right now there’s very low confidence that things will actually be stable in the long run.” Source link #Christmas #orders #track #tariff #truce Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

The layoffs impact workers “across all levels, teams, and geographies,” CNBC reported. 22. Nottingham Forest deny confrontation between owner Evangelos Marinakis and Nuno Espirito Santo calling the reaction to it ‘fake news’ Nottingham Forest deny confrontation between owner Evangelos Marinakis and Nuno Espirito Santo calling the reaction to it ‘fake news’ Forest said Awoniyi is “recovering well” after surgery on an abdominal injury. The Nigeria international, 27, collided with the post in the 88th minute of the draw at the City Ground as he attempted to get on the end of a cross from Anthony Elanga. He received treatment on the pitch and continued playing, with Forest having used their three substitution windows, but was visibly struggling when the match restarted. Forest said Marinakis’ decision to go on to the pitch was “instinctive” and “human”, showing “just how much this team and its people mean to him”. “To Evangelos Marinakis, this isn’t just a football club – it’s family – and he instils that message in all of us,” Forest said. “In moments like that he demonstrates his leadership, not just through words, but through action and presence. “In the final 10 minutes of the game, when he saw our player clearly in discomfort, struggling through visible pain, it became increasingly difficult for him to stay on the sidelines.” Speaking on Sky Sports following the match, former Manchester United captain Gary Neville described Marinakis’ actions as an “absolute joke” and “scandalous”. Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy said on BBC Sport’s Match Of The Day 2 it was “not a great look” for Marinakis. In their statement on Tuesday, Forest called some of the coverage of the incident “baseless and ill-informed outrage” for the “purposes of personal social media traction”. The club added: “At Nottingham Forest, we believe the mental and physical well-being of our players and coaching staff must always take precedence – over media narratives, inflammatory judgements, and certainly over self-promotion. “We call on these influential voices to show the same respect for player ******** that they often demand from others. This is Dating Support. [upbeat music] All right, let’s see. 1stthing1st asks, “Is it true that guys are no longer approaching women in public?” It is, and you could argue for better or worse. I would argue it is for the worse because humans evolved to interact with each other in person. And while dating apps are great, they are one of the many tools in the toolbox, we should not forget about that organic way of meeting people that can happen on the street, at the coffee shop, at the gym. That is often a lot more magical when it happens than when you’re on a dating app. But because of partially dating apps, partially also because of greater awareness around ******* harassment, ******* abuse, especially post #MeToo, there’s more realizations that the way people have approached, especially the way men often approach women in these non-designated flirting areas, can come across in a way that makes women feel unsafe. And I would love it if we brought it back, but in a way that does not make people feel unsafe or threatened. lifewithnai asks, “How important is physical attraction versus emotional attraction?” For a long-term relationship, emotional attraction is really, really important. That’s what sustains us over the long-term. The trust, the connection, the intimacy, all of that is really important to have. So if you’re gonna date someone for a long time, if you’re gonna marry them, have kids with them, settle down, make sure you have emotional attraction and connection. Now, the physical attraction is a bit more of an it depends. It’s really, really important for some people and far less important to other people. It’s also something that’s a lot more important in the beginning of the relationship. It often gets people excited about each other, but then over time it’s just not that important. And it’s important to remember that physical attraction can increase the more you like the person, the more emotional attraction exists between you two. Actual_Parsnip says, “Change my view. Dating is generally far easier for women than it is for men.” This is an interesting one. The truth is, a little bit of both. On one hand, dating is easier for women in terms of meeting potential partners. Women get approached a lot more. If you’re on the dating apps, you have so many more options. So it’s definitely easier to meet someone and go on a date. On the other hand, women often don’t get what they actually are looking for because many of these men who are approaching women are looking for something that the women are not actually looking for, casual sex versus romantic relationships. And also, can you get the high quality romantic relationship that you want? That’s often something that women don’t get. And so if you are a man who’s looking for a long-term relationship, oftentimes you can have a pretty good experience and a lot of options to choose from because a lot of the other guys being on offer are not offering that. A Reddit user asks, “Are situationships really changing the dating game and why do people put up with them?” So first, what is a situationship? It’s one of these ongoing ******* and maybe even romantic relationships, but they don’t really have a clear definition and there’s no clear commitment around them. If you don’t want to get stuck in a situationship, then don’t allow it to happen. I mean, situationships exist because usually they work for one person who’s happy to have that sort of undefined state of being, and they usually don’t work for the other person who would like to have a bit more definition, but they’re just not getting it and for one reason or another putting up with it. And you could argue it’s not really ethical if one person knows that the other person is not really enjoying and loving this situationship to keep it going, but on the other hand, everybody has responsibility in this. If it’s not working out for you, you also have the responsibility to say it’s not working. One person can’t have all of the responsibility. They also can’t be mind readers. That’s why communication is so important. Talk to each other. 123mando asks, “Does anyone have tips on how to handle rejection in a healthy way?” First and foremost, accept rejection gracefully. It’s never fun to get rejected, but it’s also part of life, and we have to learn how to take it in stride. Try not to take it personally. Very often, it’s not personal. It has to do with not being compatible, not being the right time, or simply other circumstances. So be compassionate toward yourself. Feel your feelings, but don’t go too hard on yourself. A Reddit user asks, “Should you always trust your gut?” This might sound like old wives tales, but the gut is actually a real thing when it comes to our connection to the brain. It’s sort of like a second brain because it actually has over 100 million neurons inside the gut and they are connected through the vagus nerve. It takes in information, and in those moments of fight or flight, when something is off, it can tell us get out of that situation, or if something feels good and right, it can also pull us toward that situation. So don’t ignore the gut. If the gut is saying get out of here, then probably there’s something off about that person. That said, the gut is not all you should be paying attention to because there are other pieces of information that the gut cannot take in and process, and for that, you need your brain. So make the brain and the gut work together with each other when deciding who’s a good potential partner and who’s not. A Reddit user asks, “Why are men much more willing to have casual sex than women?” Oh boy, this is a big question. That’s a big answer. Two big pieces of that answer. There are evolutionary biological differences between men and women and there are sociocultural reasons why this is happening. On an evolutionary biological basis, there are very obvious differences in our reproductive anatomy and physiology. Men make lots and lots of ******. They can easily deposit that ****** in as many vaginas as they have access to and make lots and lots of babies. Then they don’t have to put in any amount of effort into doing anything to have that baby be born, potentially survive, and so on. They can literally do the bam, wham, thank you, ma’am, and that’s it. Now, that might not be in the best interest of that kid, and there’s a whole conversation around, well, if you don’t put in any effort beyond the bam, wham, thank you, ma’am, is that kid actually going to make it? In general, there is a much lower what’s called minimum parental investment that men need to put in in order for a baby to be born. Females, on the other hand, have a very different math when it comes to sex. And for women having sex often meant getting pregnant, and that carried the cost of pregnancy for nine months, breastfeeding for usually about two, maybe three years, and during that time, you can really be having or making new babies. And so there’s a very different cost of reproduction, which plays into the way we think about having these more casual context for sex. The interesting thing that has happened over the last 50 or so years and more and more as we have developed all of these new ways of interacting in society, greater gender equality, greater access of women to economic means and political power and greater independence, as well as the access to birth control and decoupling basically of sex from reproduction, what we have now is a situation that has never really existed before in the history of humanity, and that is that sex no longer has to lead to pregnancy. So women have that luxury of having casual sex that does not lead to that potentially unintended consequence. LadyMinxNI ask, “Also in the context of dating, what on earth is orbiting? This is like a whole other language.” It is. If you just look at what’s happened to the dating language over the last five to 10 years, we have so many terms that we never had before, for better or worse. So what is orbiting? Orbiting is when someone that you either was dating or started to date or maybe even you were in a serious relationship with, and that ended and they stopped communicating with you directly, so no more texts or calls seeing each other, but they still kind of stay connected with you on social media usually. So they will like your posts, they are following you, they’re viewing your stories, following your activity, so they kind of keep you in their orbit, but without actually having any kind of meaningful communication, which to a lot of people can be distressing because you feel like there’s no closure. speckrex asks, “Can we define the term [beep] boy?” It’s an important term. [beep] boy is someone, typically male, who likes to pursue multiple ******* relationships simultaneously, not really put in a lot of or any emotional commitment into them, which in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing, but the key piece about the [beep] boy is that he usually does it with some lying and cheating and not being honest about his intentions, so there’s manipulation, which is why it’s often a disparaging kind of term. Ashley Groussman asks, “How do you decide in a relationship what is a deal breaker?” By knowing yourself and what matters to you. Everybody’s different, what is going to matter for them versus other people. You wanna think about what are your core values that matter to you long-term. For some people, it will be religion or politics or how you approach money or whether you want children or not or how you wanna deal with family. So make sure that you are on the same page on those issues. Other things like behavioral patterns, like what kind of health behaviors do we engage in? Are there any addiction issues, abuse, dishonesty, communication patterns? How do you wanna live your life? Do you wanna live in the suburbs or in the city? Do you want to party and travel? What kind of career path do you wanna have? Those are all things that are gonna come up and bite you if you’re not on the same page. Ok-Statement-2 asks, “How do you decide if you’re settling or being realistic with your expectations?” It’s a good question. We can’t have everything. Something is gonna have to give, but you have to know yourself so that you know what your core needs in a relationship are. You’re likely settling if you’re ongoingly, unfulfilled, resentful, if you feel like you’re compromising on your core values. If you are staying in a relationship mainly because you fear of being alone and you’re being realistic if you’re making some compromises on certain preferences if most of the time in the relationship you feel like your core needs are being met and you are generally happy and satisfied. sxr444h says, “What attachment style is it where you yearn for the man who doesn’t consistently show his interest in you, if any?” [sighs] This is a common thing that happens. The attachment style that usually goes with that is the anxious attachment style. Well, people often don’t have a very high opinion of themselves and do have a higher opinion of other people, and they are willing to put up with treatment that’s not necessarily the greatest just because they’re afraid of losing that person. It often comes from not having healthy role models for what is a good, healthy kind of relationship where the person does show interest in you. The thing to do is work with a therapist. It’s absolutely possible to get to a healthier dynamic. It just takes a little bit of work. a_lucid_casadilla asks, “How important is chemistry in a relationship?” Chemistry is in some sense elusive and it’s hard to define, but it’s about that sense of strong attraction. Often it’s physical. Sometimes it might also be intellectual or emotional. But it’s that feeling like we really gel, right? It’s something really pulling me towards you and you’re being pulled towards me and it feels pretty magical. For most of us, especially in the West and the way we like to start our relationships, it’s pretty important, especially if you want that physical attraction or connection that propels you into a long-term experience. For some people, it’s not that important. They make their decisions to be with someone based on more kind of rational criteria, like will they make a good parent and do they have good financial prospects and that kind of stuff, and so that’s okay too. ROWEBOT3339 says, “Would you rather be ghosted or have someone tell you why they don’t want to see or talk to you again?” Well, it depends. People have different preferences. And there’s no real research asking people what they would prefer so that we know what the majority is. My best sense from talking to students and clients is that most people prefer to have some sort of indication that the person doesn’t want to see them again so that they have a little bit of closure and know where they stand. There are some people who would prefer to just get ghosted because that on one hand is maybe a little less awkward. You don’t have to face the rejection directly. It kind of leaves things like, well, you never know. Maybe this person will come around, and so they find it easier, especially when it’s early on. NafulaO_M asks, “Do attachment styles change with different partners or is it constant? Like, can I have an anxious attachment style with one partner and avoidant with another?” There is actually a lot of science going back decades about attachment styles, attachment patterns, how they develop, how they impact romantic relationships. So this really is a real thing. And so our attachment styles are something that is relatively consistent and it’s something that we start to develop early on through our interactions with our primary caregivers as we grow up, and then they get reinforced as we start to interact with romantic partners and friends and other adults in our lives. And while there is certainly some level of continuity over time, different people can also elicit different kinds of reactions from us. So when we interact, let’s say, with someone who is very avoidant, even if we’re not particularly anxious, it can elicit somewhat of an anxious response from us because they are acting so avoidant. Vice versa, if we are interacting with someone who’s really anxious, very clingy, and requiring a lot of time and attention and reassurance from us, we can start to act a bit more avoidant, even if we’re not technically very avoidant. So it absolutely can fluctuate depending on who we’re interacting with. The good news is, even if we have an attachment style that is no longer optimal or that we’re not happy with as adults, like if we’re really avoidant and really anxious and we wanna do something about it, we can do something about it. These things can change. They can change with just knowledge about what our styles are, where they come from, and so that we can catch some of those reactions when we have them. Sometimes it’s good to have a therapist to work through some of those issues, especially some of the stuff that comes from childhood. And very often what helps us overcome some of these no longer serving as types of patterns is pairing up with someone who has a more secure attachment style or is willing, even if they themselves have some avoidant or anxious tendencies, but they are willing to be aware of it, and then work with us to catch each other and hold each other accountable for when some of these things flare up and bring them back down, down regulate them. salute_ace asks, “How do I tell my partner I wanna have a threesome for the first time?” Oh, this is a spicy one. Threesomes is the single most common ******* fantasies that Americans have. Go figure, and yet it can be a pretty dicey thing to ask someone because what if they’re not on the same page and that blows up in your face? So kind of two main avenues for how you can go about this. You can take a more indirect approach to find out what their opinion view generally is on threesomes before maybe you ask the big question, and you can do that by bringing up, I don’t know, something that you’ve read or seen in a movie or a TV show or heard about your friends doing and then asking your partner what they think, so you kind of probe a little bit. The other way is, talking about your fantasies. Maybe have a moment where you decide that you’re gonna share your top three fantasies with each other. Make it kind of low stakes. Acknowledge that sharing fantasies can be pretty vulnerable because there’s so much sex shaming and taboos. This is stuff that, you know, it’s something that you fantasize about occasionally. Doesn’t necessarily mean you have to do it or you want to do it. It’s just something that you wanna share with your partner. WideSandwich69 asks, “Is it possible to grow into loving someone?” Absolutely yes. Love has these two stages, especially the way we do love and relationships in the West. The first part is that crazy infatuation when we lose our minds over this new person, and then over time, that subsides and turns into this long-term attachment where we are in a calmer state, but we also know there’s a lot more security, there’s long-term care, we are invested in their wellbeing, they’re invested in our wellbeing. It absolutely is possible, even sometimes when you don’t necessarily have that initial stage of infatuation to over time grow into loving them and turning that into a long-term attachment. In fact, when people in many cultures have arranged marriages, they start out with no infatuation. Very often, they barely even know each other. But over time, as they spend more time with each other, they grow into that attachment level love. kdizzlin asks, “People are really out here in relationships with no traveling together, no dates, no spice, just arguments, [beep] sex, and going to sleep. What the are you doing?” It’s a great observation. There are a lot of people who are in low quality relationships. Why are people doing it? Often because they feel they don’t have a better option because they are afraid to put themselves back out there because often they think that’s all they deserve. A lot of us come from families and have these role models for what relationships are like that are not of a high quality relationship. And so, yeah, many of us are stuck in poor relationships, and if this is you, reconsider either work on getting that relationship to a much better level or move on and find someone who’s more compatible with you. That’s all the questions we have time for today. I hope that was useful. Until next time. 24. Squad Busters major new Hero update is now live Squad Busters major new Hero update is now live Squad Busters new Hero update is out now! Heroes are the new focus of the release, with squaddies supporting them Use your power moves, upgrade your squaddies and enjoy faster, furious gameplay Squad Busters has been up and down in terms of popularity. While at its core it’s still a fun and accessible MOBA-like, it hasn’t quite lived up to the success Supercell seemed to envision. Sceptical players, however, may be pulled back in to give Squad Busters another shot with their latest update. Billed as the most ambitious update to any of Supercell’s catalogue for over 15 years, Squad Busters’ new update switches up the fundamentals of its gameplay. No longer is your squad solely comprised of units, as now they’re split between the much more powerful Heroes and Squaddies. Heroes, as you might expect, serve as your lynchpin and now boast their own abilities and passives. Squaddies, meanwhile, function much as units once did, and can be upgraded during matches. You’ll also no longer need to halt your squad to attack, although doing so will make your squaddies attack faster. I need a hero Obviously, this pretty much changes the entire crux of Squad Busters, making your squad more durable and changing the focus from being a pseudo-RTS MOBA to more like a classic MOBA. Now, it’s all about using your Heroes and their ‘power moves’ alongside your squaddies to support them. While I’m sure some of you will lament these changes being at odds with the original crux of Squad Busters’ design, it’s hard to argue with the changes. As much as Squad Busters resonated with me initially, I couldn’t see myself picking it up frequently, and the decision to switch the focus to heroes helps make player actions more consequential. In any case, while you grapple with whether to jump back into Squad Busters to take advantage of this new update, why not check out our lists of the top 25 strategy games for iOS and Android to experience other options to scratch that strategy itch? 25. Intel and AMD are already working on their next-gen GPUs, source code reveals Intel and AMD are already working on their next-gen GPUs, source code reveals Intel’s and AMD’s best graphics cards are still fresh off the press, but both companies are already hard at work on their next-gen GPUs … or, in some cases, next-next gen. Recently, leakers spotted references to upcoming GPU architectures in both AMD and Intel code updates, showing that the development is well underway. Let’s start with AMD. The company has only just recently launched the excellent RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, and the RX 9060 XT is said to follow shortly, with a rumored announcement coming up soon at Computex. This generation is highly unlikely (and by highly unlikely I mean nearly impossible at this point) to deliver any more high-end products, but we might see other models of RDNA 4 making an appearance. The RX 9070 GRE could see a global release at some point, and the RX 9060 non-XT is almost a given. Once RDNA 4 is wrapped up, we’re going to be waiting for RDNA 5, also referred to as UDNA or NAVI 5, which is presumably known as GFX13 (as RDNA 4 was known as GFX12). As spotted by Kepler_L2 on X (Twitter) and first shared by VideoCardz, GFX13 just made what could be its first appearance in AMD patch code. The more interesting tidbit is the “ENABLE_WAVEGROUP” definition, which is new to RDNA. When prompted about it, Kepler_L2 responded: “I think it’s related to SWC (Streaming Wave Coalescer /pseudo out-of-order execution). Each SIMD takes multiple wave32/wave64 (a wavegroup) as inputs and reorders the the work items of each wave to reduce execution divergence.” While AMD sat out of the high-end GPU race with RDNA 4, most reports claim that it’ll be back with a vengeance with RDNA 5. Considering that we’re expecting a halo card that will at least aim to rival Nvidia, AMD will surely introduce some architectural changes to support that. In the case of Intel, we already know that the next-gen cards will be called Arc Celestial, and Intel itself has confirmed that most of its team is now working on Celestial. Coming up next will be Intel Arc Druid, which, given the various delays that plagued Alchemist and the small amount of GPUs launched in Battlemage (we could still get more, though), seemed like a long shot. However, another Twitter leaker spotted references to Intel Xe4 (Druid) in Intel’s open-source library patches. While this doesn’t mean that Druid GPUs are right around the corner (they’re not), it does mean that Intel is already working on them, which bodes well.
