Gerald Wood takes the stand as day 3 of Tina Peters trial

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (

) — Gerald Wood took the stand Friday as a prosecutorial witness in the election ****** trial of Tina Peters. He is listed as the man part of the trusted build in May 2021, but he said he wasn’t there and had an alibi. He was at *******, then his daughters’ graduation party and then he was working the days following.

During his testimony. Wood was asked about several events he attended, his alleged membership of a group called the Tech Team on the encrypted messaging app, Signal, and if he had permitted Peters to use his access card and credentials.

He testified today that he did not permit Peters to use the key card at any time let alone for access during the trusted build. Wood also did not know the term trusted build. He has never been employed by Mesa County nor was he ever an administrative assistant.

Then he was asked about his alleged membership in the Tech Team group chat with Peters and Sherronna Bishop, former campaign manager for U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert.

Wood was shown several screenshots or digital captures of conversations in the chat, but he did not recall having those conversations or being a group member in the first place.

Peters’ attorney, John Case, said Wood went by the name of Trebuchet and asked him if the phone number associated with the account was his; it was.

Wood was then questioned about attending a cyber symposium in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, hosted by MyPillow CEO

in May 2021.

He had learned while traveling there that he had been mentioned by the Colorado Secretary of State by name during a nationally televised press conference over an investigation involving his alleged involvement.

He was then asked if he knew an individual named Conan Hayes — a former pro surfer, accused of sharing election data — and if he met him at the cyber symposium. Wood testified that he did not know him and said he looked like actor Aaron Paul. He also said Hayes was not part of the cyber experts there.

Wood testified he left the event on a private plane owned by Lindell.

After Wood was cross-examined, he was excused from his subpoena by the prosecution. The defense had not served him a subpoena and Case tried to serve him. He was shrugged off as it is Colorado law that an attorney in a case cannot serve a subpoena to someone, but an employee of that attorney can.

This trial is ongoing. Another witness was in the middle of testimony when the court was adjourned for the day. The witness’ testimony will resume on Monday at 9 a.m. Check out the live stream of the trial at westernslopenow.com
