“Fun update: for the last 9 Months I’ve been working on Marathon as the game director,” he said. “We’re still baking, but I’m excited to share with you more info on the game as we get closer and closer to bringing it to all of you.”

According to IGN’s Rebekah Valentine, a number of changes were made to the team “amid ongoing anxiety within Bungie following layoffs last year.” On top of that, sources told Valentine that Bungie is “pouring resources into getting Marathon out the door.”

Changes to the game’s development have also taken place under Ziegler, per the report. One such change involves players now selecting from a group of characters rather than custom characters.

The game still has no set release date, but will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it releases.

Insider Gaming has reached out to Bungie for comments on the change. Should a response be received this story will be updated.
