Okamoto divulged this news in an interview with This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up at Gamescom 2026, explaining that Konami is looking for fresh takes on the well-trodden beats of the Silent Hill series to keep it from stagnating. "Our aim is to, hopefully, have an annual release of new games," he told the outlet. “If we stay laser-focused on the same American setting, that would exhaust [narrative] possibilities, and also potentially cause fatigue for the playerbase." Okamoto also confirmed that several unannounced Silent Hill projects are currently in development. "There are still many projects that are still [in] the works and very unannounced titles. So obviously, we can't go into specifics. But there are still many projects that we are currently exploring and working on as we speak,” he said. "We would like to let players know that we have more experiences coming up, and many types of games that, we believe, will be able to provide positive kinds of surprises for players waiting for this for the series." This information holds up with statements made by Konami’s president, Hideki Hayakawa, who said the company is actively invested in “rebooting” its most iconic IPs, specifically mentioning Silent Hill, This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up , and This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up (Though, in this case, the word 'reboot' seems to mean reinvigorating the franchises with new games, rather than remaking old ones.) “Our company has been making games for more than 50 years, and we hold several IPs that are beloved globally by many fans. We concluded that rebooting these properties would be an effective way to make the most of them,” he said in an interview with This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up on July 23. “In addition to Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Momotaro Dentetsu, we are also actively developing Castlevania (known in Japan as Akumajō Dracula). “Our basic philosophy is that as long as there are customers for a given game, we will release it across multiple devices. Rather than focusing intensely on just one specific IP, we’ve built a structure that allows us to push forward on multiple IPs simultaneously with equal energy. That’s what this past year has looked like for us,” he explained.
