As the “Vol. 2” in the title suggests, this is the second collection of Metal Gear Solid games. The first came out in 2023 and was very well received — as it should be, since it included the first three games in the trilogy, all of which are stone-cold classics. Finally, there’s Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, which is billed as a “bonus” inclusion in this collection. It’s a non-canon entry that originally released for Game Boy in 2000. It takes place in an alternate continuity from the rest of the Metal Gear Solid games, but is still worth checking out for fans of the franchise.

Personally, I do most of my gaming on Steam Deck, so I preordered this collection at this discounted price. It’ll be great to have Metal Gear Solid 4 on modern platforms for the first time in years. And I’m sure Peace Walker will feel right at home on the handheld hardware. I have my doubts that Ghost Babel will keep me enthralled long enough to complete it, but I’ll definitely check it out.
