Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida says he advised the developer of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 not to promote it as a turn-based RPG.

Yoshida was speaking at a session during the Busan Indie Connect conference in South Korea, where he was discussing how developers can pitch their games to potential publishers.

, Yoshida was asked whether publishers cared about trends, and he replied that it depended on the company – those who publish games that are nearly completed are more likely to care about trends, whereas those who get involved early in a game’s development may focus on it less because a trend could be dead in a few years.
