And yet, despite Xbox and Bethesda's collaborative effort to revive Elder Scrolls 6 discourse without actually saying anything of substance, not to mention

You might've caught wind of The Indie Scrolls through frequent updates posted to the apparently solo developer's

, but in case you hadn't, well, it's an indie take on the Elder Scrolls universe with beautiful pixel art and overall presentation reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall.

The latest update, shared on August 13, shows an armed and armored player character exploring a quaint farm, abruptly made less quaint by the protagonist's butchering of a poor little brown chicken by sword and fire. I'd say I'm impressed by the detail of the bloody chicken corpse, but frankly, I'm equally disturbed.

The developer, going by RAIZA online, has previously said the Indie Scrolls is "inspired by TES but in a Daggerfall visual key," and is designed with "modern and updated RPG gameplay but with classic graphics," you know, "since TES 6 is [taking] forever to come out." It isn't clear when the project will release, but if we're going purely off the consistency and pace of updates shared with fans, I'd put my money on The Indie Scrolls coming out before The Elder Scrolls 6.
