[STEAM] The Sims and Rimworld collide in a new 24/7 "persistent, player-driven" MMO where the community collaborates to "build real, functional societies"

A wildly new ambitious MMO called SEED sees the entire player base touch down on a freshly-colonized planet, build a couple Seedlings who aren't too far off your typical The Sims characters, and collaborate to "build real, functional societies" that run even when you're not looking.

"SEED is a persistent, player-driven life and MMO simulation," developer Klang's website explains. But the nitty gritty details are what make SEED seem really exciting. You essentially build autonomous characters, each with their own personalities who will go about their routines whether you log in or not. Before long, they'll have built up societies that mirror our real life, only this time on a faraway planet. It's basically Rimworld but it's always online and borrows from The Sims.

Players can choose to either join one of "thousands of burgeoning societies" or begin anew, making your Seedlings go out for crafting materials to build almost everything from scratch. Bed rooms, houses, factories, pubs, hospitals - all with your expertly tuned interior design skills, of course. The coolest part is that societies exist in the same world no matter what, which I imagine could lead to some cool political drama as the game inches closer to 1.0. Even when you're not logged in, you can check in and text with your Seedlings on your real-world phone.

The trailer down below dives deeper into the juicy details: "How societies run is up to the players. They can form everything, from a top-down aristocracy to grassroots democracy, and then elect leadership, draft laws, levy taxes, and do everything modern governments do today on every scale." There's even a working real estate system, political elections, and inter-community trading.
