[STEAM] Make-your-own-Witcher game is apparently real and will be free-to-play, according to report

For years now, The Witcher fans have been asking CDPR to make a game where they can create their own custom witcher and fight off monsters the way they want to, but the company pushed for pre-made characters in The Witcher 4 instead.

However, even though we have Ciri as /ourgirl/ in The Witcher 4, we’ll apparently also get the long-requested Make-your-own-Witcher game, and free of charge at that.

, CDPR is working on an online multiplayer game where players will have this freedom. Set decades before the games and the books, it is expected that the game will take place across several nations and regions, all of which differ in geography and climate.

The gameplay seems to revolve around taking on contracts across the Continent, with players given total customization regarding their character and its development, such as skills, potion brewing, signs, choice of Witcher school, etc. From what I can gather here, female Witchers will also be a thing, though uncanonical.

Dodges, parries, and executions seem to comprise the core of the combat system, so perhaps we’ll say goodbye to attack spam from The Witcher 3.

The game will apparently be free-to-play, probably a live-service title, and will come out on both PC and mobile, with consoles as of yet unknown. The studio behind the game is also not disclosed, though MP1st believes it could be Scopely. That outlet also speculates that this is Project Sirius, which we’ve known about for a while now.

When the game will release or how exactly it’s supposed to look is anyone’s guess at the moment, but these brief details have got us super excited. I do prefer CDPR’s pursuit of semi-premade or even fully-premade characters in their games (Geralt, V, Ciri), but having the ability to properly roleplay as a Witcher, however we see fit, is always welcome.

It will break the lore and the canon somewhat, but what’s there to stop a free and fun game from giving those players who like this sort of title something to enjoy, and in their favorite universe at that?
