The June 9 Nintendo Direct blessed the FromSoft faithful with a glimpse of the studio’s upcoming Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive multiplayer game, The Duskbloods. Alongside a sleek new trailer showcasing the game’s grim-dark world, characters and vibes, fans also learned they might get to play the game earlier than anyone expected.

Right at the tail end of the trailer, FromSoft revealed that a Closed Network Test for The Duskbloods will go live sometime this summer, allowing a small sect of players to experience the game before anyone else.

Announced alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 itself in April 2025, The Duskbloods marks FromSoft’s second major incursion into the world of multiplayer. Supporting up to eight players at a time, the game will feature both player-vs-player and player-vs-environment gameplay, with seasonal events and awards thrown in to keep things spicy.

Following the framework established by FromSoft’s previous titles, The Duskbloods drops players into a fantasy world steeped in rich history that isn’t told to them up front. Assuming the role of a vampire-like beastie known as a Duskblood, players will slowly unravel the mysteries of this blood-soaked realm as they upgrade and personalize their characters, gleaning information from the weapons and magic they pick up across matches.

FromSoft’s previous multiplayer title, Elden Ring: Nightfall, put out its own Closed Network Test a few months before the game went live. If The Duskblood‘s own closed-door playtest follows a similar pattern, an opportunity to sign up should rear its head soon, so fans had best keep a steady eye on The Duskbloods‘ official

Since its initial announcement, news on The Duskbloods has been thin as an overtaxed blood bank’s inventory. It doesn’t have an official release date yet, making the announcement of a Closed Network Test even more surprising than it already was. That said, if FromSoft feels confident enough to show players a preview like this, odds are the studio plans on releasing the game sooner rather than later.
