A third Asus ROG XBOX Ally model has hit the internet, and it’s brought a clearer-looking picture than ever, and some spectacles to match its specs.

is a refreshed version of last year’s suped-up XBOX Ally X with an OLED screen that’s 0.4 inches larger, TMR thumbsticks, and a transforming D-pad to justify a potential upgrade or new purchase.

The new handheld is also being bundled with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses, which doesn’t make much sense to me if it’s supposed to be all about the new screen, but alas.

I played around with both ROG XBOX Ally models at an event in New York City last year shortly before launch, and came away impressed by the tech and scared by the price. I’ve yet to buy one myself because of it, and so I’d imagine that this new model likely won’t sway me any further, judging how the cost of tech keeps rising basically everywhere.

It’s unclear just what the XBOX Ally X20 will cost, or if it will even be purchasable alone without the AR glasses, but the newest version seems like it’ll cost a pretty penny to match its performance.

I’m probably sticking with my launch model Steam Deck for the time being as costs continue to rise, but for gamers looking for a premium PC handheld and willing to pay, this is likely as good as it gets for the time being.
