Take-Two Interactive, parent company to Rockstar, Gearbox, 2K, and others, confirmed recently that seven sequels, six remasters and remakes, as well as expansions are going to come out by 2029. Though it didn’t specify which games these are going to be, I surely hope they give some of their old hits a chance to shine through modern tech.

also had him reveal substantial plans to create sequels, remakes, and remasters throughout the next few years. Zelnick said seven sequels and six remakes or remasters are coming by 2029, while “core existing IPs” will also get platform extensions, likely bringing them over to the PS6 and the new Xbox, whenever those come out.

Zelnick didn’t specify which games he meant, though there’s a fair share of titles we could see get new content or brought up to snuff throughout these next few years. Naturally, there’s a plethora of GTA games collecting dust, stuck with old graphics, systems, and architecture that sometimes prevents them from running on current-year machines.

While a few of them have already been addressed, such as GTA San Andreas (catastrophically so), there’s a lot that is yet to be given a new chance under the modern sun. Vice City, Liberty City Stories, or even GTA 4 could be remastered or completely remade, especially these former two. San Andreas, of course, deserves a proper remake instead of that so-called “definitive edition” no one liked.

Hangar 13’s ****** 2 could follow the first game and get a full-blown remake, and considering just how good that game is despite its age, I would genuinely love to see it. Porting existing titles to platforms like the Switch 2 could also be in line as part of those platform extensions, also following the rest of the industry in partnering with Nintendo.

There’s also Max Payne, BioShock, Bully, and myriad other franchises under the Take-Two umbrella, so predicting exactly what the company is going to do is kind of tough. Still, it’s good to know that apparently all of its studios are working on something, and all we can do is sit and wait.
