The game raised over $32 million in November alone and received between eight and 13 million every single month since October. Cash continuously pours in from players who not only donate voluntarily but also purchase and invest in the game’s immense economy, buying ships and other in-game items for copious amounts of money.

Star Citizen has been in development for 14 years and still has no concrete release date. Its spin-off, Squadron 42, was meant to come out this year, though even that appears to be more hope than reality.

Many gamers around the world do not think Star Citizen will ever come out.

, many believe the game is a borderline scam, as well as that its dreams and ambitions and potential are as much a product as the game itself. The journey towards this imagined biggest, best game of all time is what’s being sold to players, and many of them are actively funding the adventure rather than the end.
