The new game engine will be an alternative to U.S. solutions Unreal and Epic as well as ******** game engines in the market, said Brussee in an interview with This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up . Brussee worked on titles as a programmer for Epic’s Jazz Jackrabbit games in the 1990s. He cofounded Guerrilla Games in 2003 and led production there. Brussee was also a cofounder of Boss Key Games, the now-shut game studio of Epic designer Cliff Bleszinski. Brussee returned to Epic for eight years and did roles such as global director of product management for Unreal Engine. But now he is based in the Netherlands and is building The Immense Engine, which will be European hosted, compliant with European rules and regulations, and built in Europe, he said. “Creating usable 3D worlds is becoming increasingly important, certainly for purposes other than just gaming,” he told the European podcast. He said that by being based in Europe, The Immense Engine could be used for 3D simulations in defense or logistics. He said the game engine would enable the full integration of AI, as the rise of AI requires a different approach to software development. He said that a single developer could now do the work of 10 or 15 people by using AI agents. But AI remains controversial, as many developers don’t trust it when it comes to copyright protection. They’re also concerned it will produce “AI slop” while eliminating game development jobs.
