, and also caused such an influx in traffic that it created problems for Steam's general servers, hampering connections for players regardless of whether or not they wanted in.

. "We plan to continue replenishing stock as we get more in, but in the meantime wanted to share changes we're making to improve the purchase experience and to limit reseller activity."

Starting on May 8 at 12pm CT, a reservation ****** solely for the controller will open up on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you're in line, your place is reserved, and order emails will be sent in the same order that reservations were made. But there are a few guidelines needed in order to get one at all.

First, your account must be in good standing on Steam. That means if you've had any bans or suspensions, you may be out of luck. You also must have made a purchase on Steam before April 27, 2026, so new accounts will be locked out as well.

Reservations will be limited to one per customer, and anyone who has already reserved one won't be able to get another with the account they used in an effort to allow more users to purchase a controller for themselves.
