Thankfully, Activision has been quick to stamp it out by confirming that's not the case. "Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true," Activision This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up on the main CoD This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up /X account. "The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4." And so a collective sigh of relief was heard across the community. This means that the new CoD, rumored to be a new entry in the Modern Warfare series, will be the first applicable game to not launch on the previous generation of hardware. Even 2025's ****** Ops 7 was still available on the PS4. The hope is that, with the PS4 (and Xbox One) left behind, that CoD can utilize the hardware of newer games to create a better product. That remains to be seen, but the quick turnaround on comms from Activision today is an encouraging sign that the series is not messing around with misinformation, extending the new vibe around the franchise after the publisher used legal means to shut down several noted data miners within the community earlier this year. As for when the new CoD will become official, a safe bet would be the Xbox showcase at the beginning of June, considering as that's how BO7 was first shown off last year. When it does launch this year, it will be for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
