NASA’s SPHEREx mission has successfully mapped water ice deposits in the Cygnus X region, a significant step forward in understanding the origins of Earth’s water. With a total cost of approximately $250 million, the SPHEREx mission is a relatively low-cost but high-reward endeavor, offering significant contributions to our understanding of the universe. The mission is expected to continue operating until at least 2025, with plans to expand its survey to other regions of the galaxy.
