Vampire Crawlers will force you to put on your thinking cap whenever you come across a treasure chest. You'll find these valuable treasures whenever you defeat a boss or by randomly exploring the map. Opening them will provide you with gems that you can equip on your cards. Every treasure chest in Vampire Crawlers will have three gems on offer at random. You can pick one of them to add to an applicable card of your choice. There are some really powerful options you can avail that will radically change the strength of your deck.

Doing so will immediately forfeit the gems on offer, and the treasure chest will disappear. If you're unsure, you can just 'leave' and return to the chest later before leaving the room.

When to cash out in Vampire Crawlers

I use two simple rules to decide when you should cash out a treasure chest.

• Do you have a card to upgrade with a gem? Once you've applied a few upgrades, you won't have a card that's worth upgrading with a gem. It might also happen that the applied boosts will have negligible effects. If that happens, going for the Gold Coins will be beneficial.
• Do you like the gems on offer? The offers are completely random, and it's highly possible that they won't be of any use to you. In such cases, it's always better to go for Gold Coins.
