Call of Duty's live-action adaptation is coming out in theaters on June 30, 2028, as confirmed today at CinemaCon. Directed by Pete Berg and written by Taylor Sheridan of Sicario fame, the film is finally going to bring one of the biggest franchises to the silver screens.

, Call of Duty's film adaptation is going to start screening in mid-2028, June 30 to be exact. This was confirmed at CoD's CinemaCon panel today, with Activision president Rob Kostich saying its partnership with Paramount led to the movie's production. "I told everyone we were only going to make a movie if it's right. In David Ellison (Paramount chief), we found that partnership," Kostich said.

Let's hope the movie ditches all the weird stuff Activision's been putting out lately. Sheridan wrote some of the best military action movies I've ever seen, including Sicario and its sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado. on conflicts and darker sides of the world, which is no doubt going to help the Call of Duty movie become more than a mere action flick.

Kostich also said that an authentic and human perspective will be at the core of the movie. "We want to make sure that the authenticity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuse that with epic scope," he said.

That ******* of 2028 isn't packed with a lot of films, allowing the Call of Duty adaptation to really grip the theatrical scene. However, the Hello Kitty movie is coming out a few weeks after CoD, which could turn into another case of Barbenheimer, or as we call it: Call of Kitty. It could be a fun month or so for moviegoers and casuals alike, mimicking the incredible theatrical experience we all had when Barbie and Oppenheimer were screened back to back.

It's still a long way off, however, so there's a lot that could change in the meantime. But as thing stand, I have a feeling it'll be a fun time in cinemas, especially considering the contrast between Sheridan's grim writing and the sunshine and rainbow vibes of Hello Kitty.
