Players who got PS4 Fallout 4 through PS Plus will have to wait for the free next-gen upgrade

Players who previously redeemed the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4 will have to wait a little longer for its free next-gen upgrade, Bethesda says.

The free upgrade was released today and allows owners of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game to upgrade it to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions respectively.

However, players who redeemed the PS4 game when it was previously available as a free PlayStation Plus title have discovered that there’s no option to upgrade it, and that they instead have to buy the separate PS5 version.

Bethesda has now told these players that buying the new version isn’t necessary, and that they should hold ***** until the issue is resolved.

“We’ve seen some confusion regarding the free Fallout 4 next-gen update for PlayStation Plus Extra members,” the company wrote on X.

“The Fallout 4 next-gen update will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra members through the PlayStation Game Catalogue. Your patience is appreciated while the teams work on this.”

Originally scheduled to arrive last year, the free update includes native applications for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, Performance mode and Quality mode settings, plus stability improvements and fixes.

Players will be able to “experience up to 60 FPS and increased resolutions,” Bethesda said earlier this month.
