1 arrested after Lubbock hit-and-run ****** that ******* Randall High basketball standout

Police on Friday announced one person was arrested after a hit-and-run ****** that left one person ***** and another injured late Tuesday in east Lubbock.

According to Lubbock police, 43-year-old Julian Mercado was taken into custody by LPD investigators on Friday and is charged with a felony count of ******** to stop and render aid causing ****** in connection with the ****** that ******* 18-year-old Zakeria Bol, a recent Randall High School basketball standout.

Mercado is accused of driving a vehicle that struck Bol and 18-year-old Benjamin Brown about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 4000 block of Idalou Road.

When officers arrived to the scene of the ******, Brown was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center with moderate injuries, and Bol was pronounced ***** at the scene.

Police by late Friday did not release additional details about the ****** or what evidence linked Mercado to the hit-and-run.

Mercado’s bond has been set at $100,000.
