Museum boss Alec Coles hits back at claims vandalised perspex will encourage more protests at Art Gallery

WA’s museum boss has hit back at claims the acquisition of perspex glass that saved an *********** masterpiece from being defaced by a climate activist encourages further vandalism against artworks.

In a heated radio interview, WA Museum chief executive Alec Coles said there were no plans to display the glass, which was protecting Frederick McCubbin’s Down on His Luck when Disrupt Burrup Hub’s Joana Partyka graffitied a Woodside logo on it at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in January last year.
